Out of all our cruises, eight previous cruises in various locations, this ship had the worst service. The crew and the staff just didn't care about their customers. Minor issues, that on other cruise lines would be addressed and corrected, would be ignored. -WIFI was expensive and you had to order it for at least two days. No hourly rate, at least non that I was able to find. -Food in the main dining room and windjammer were just OK...both selection and taste. We did not do specialty dining...preferred to spend money on tours. We paid for a large family trip with 11 people and we asked if we could have a table that could fit the entire group. We were told no. They made no effort during the rest of the cruise to place us at a table that would fit us all or even move tables together so we could sit together. Unlike our other cruises their were very few activities. Such as dance contests, or lessons, art lessons, etc.. Only RC trying to sell things (art, jewelry, photos, etc..) The rides that they had were often closed and would mainly be open during the day while most customers were out visiting the country. Once we returned to the ship they would close most of the rides. The rock climbing wall was rarely opened after we returned to the ship. -Music soundtrack very odd at the pool and not enough live music. -Casino waaay too smoky. -VAT - 2 Pina Coladas at the pool cost $28. Expected drinks to be expensive, but they are going way over the top with the cost of drinks. One bartender gave us a 14.95 pina colada and didn't even add alcohol. They said that we should have asked for alcohol if we wanted it in our drink. (In a very unfriendly way and not kidding in the slightest) -Guest services line was at least a 15-30 minute wait all week. -Would like to see RC offer more help re: ports. They tend to push their own excursions or shopping with their retail partners, and refrain from answering simple questions such as distance to train, cost of taxi. -Photos have gotten waaay too expensive $19.99 each. We didn't buy any. -Didn't think comedian was funny at all. -Lack of bars of soap and shampoo in the shower Took the RC excursion into Rome. The boarding time was 8 pm, yet they made us return at 3 pm. Allowing us barely 4 hours in Rome during a 12 hour port time. This was never mentioned when we purchased this excursion. The tour company that RC used treated us like cattle and only cared that we would be back on the bus by 3pm and returning to the ship. When we mentioned it to Customer Service, they couldn't have cared less. Many of the docking locations were too far from most of the things that people wanted to visit. Just the poor service from the staff and the obvious attempt by RC to milk every dollar out of you while you were on the ship made this cruise a less enjoyable experience. This was our worst experience cruising. Read Less

The lack of good customer service and their inability to resolve the one complaint we made while on board casts a shadow over my entire experience on this trip and with the cruise line in general. When we first entered our stateroom, we had an interior room that had a connecting door to the room next to it. The door was unlocked and we had to call someone to come and lock it. The entire trip we could hear the people in that room as if they were standing in our room with us. They were not being rowdy or doing anything other than just living in their room, having conversations, and watching TV. The only assumption that we could make was that there was something worn with the seal on the door. When we called after the third night because we could not sleep, the solution was to send maintenance up and put tape over the door cracks, which resolved nothing. We complained at the desk again and we were then lectured by the guest services attendant that all rooms are exactly the same, speaking to us like we were idiots, explaining how a boat is built, and said he has never had this complaint before and there was nothing they could do about it. We told him we were traveling with a group of 13 people and not one other person had this issue that we were having. He told us that when we hear the noise that we should call so they could come hear it themselves. That same night we called and security was sent and they heard what we had been hearing, yet nothing was done. It is very frustrating to have had to have this experience, especially when you need to be up to get up at 5am to get off the ship and you cannot sleep because of sound from another room. The issue was never resolved and no accommodations were ever made to better my experience. Additionally, the food was extremely underwhelming. After 3 nights of eating in the dining room and having food not being cooked to the temperature requested, and having a meal last almost 2 and a half hours, we decided to dine at the Windjammer instead for the remaining meals. The food at the Windjammer was mediocre at best. The selections and presentation seemed outstanding but once you sat down to actually consume what was on your plate, most of it got pushed to the side and into the garbage. The only restaurant we paid to go to was the Mexican place and it was pretty good, the guacamole was delicious. On the ship you need to use provided iPad kiosks to sign up for shows. When the kiosks weren't down, the process to sign up for a show was tedious, especially when traveling with 13 people. On top of it, shows kept getting cancelled/postponed on what seemed like a regular basis. The one show that was actually enjoyable was the comedy show. We also saw the ice skating show 1887. The skill of the skaters was amazing, but the plot of the story required some sort of acid trip in order to enjoy/follow. Also, forget about trying to indulge in any of the activities such as zip lining, rock climbing, or using the slides. They all seemed to only be open during time slots in which the boat was docked and everyone was on shore. I would love to have something positive to say but the entire experience was frustrating and underwhelming, especially for the amount of money paid to be there. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the dates (school holidays) and the excitement of taking our 3 children on the biggest ship in the world. If you like a 'Disney - American' feel you will like this ship - except it doesn't come with the service or friendly staff. There didn't seem to be enough staff and they often appeared to be inconvenienced if asked for assistance. We have taken our teenage children on 2 celebrity cruises in the past and only encountered enthusiastic, friendly and helpful staff who contributed to the overall positive experience. (One morning my daughter and I were trying to find the rest of our family for breakfast in the main dining room - this particular morning breakfast finished at 9 am -I was unaware of this and discovered breakfast was served on the level below but was told by the lady at the dining desk l couldn't go down there and that l would be refused entry. I did go down to find my husband and sons and sat with them while they finished their breakfast. Ten minutes later the woman actually came to find us and gave me a lecture - she was rude and I was embarrassed.) The decor of the ship is lovely and our balcony cabins were spacious, and always serviced perfectly by our fantastic porter. The beds and pillows are very comfortable - always a great night's sleep. There were no toiletries provided (except soap) - which l found to be really poor - especially that this cruise was a lot more expensive than our previous cruises - and even basic accommodation offer shampoo and conditioner. The food was just OK and the speciality restaurants did not offer the special/ exclusive/fine dining experience offered by the restaurants on Celebrity. The entertainment on the ship was excellent - although the queues on the slides and flo riders were too long for my kids to wait. You also have to pay for the aerobics/pilates classes in the gym. So, I would not cruise with Royal Caribbean again. Read Less

We booked the Harmony of the Seas as our first Royal Caribbean cruise after being frequent Disney Cruise Liners. Harmony of the Seas is a beautiful ship! There is always something going on and a new area to discover. We traveled with my parents (age 55)and my husband and I. The stops were great and the reason we booked the cruise in the first place. I highly recommend these ports! We were only the 3rd cruise on this ship so I know they were still working out some of the kinks, but many of our issues seemed like a problem with the cruise line itself. The food was pretty terrible. We had been traveling in Europe for a week so we were really looking forward to eating some "cruise" food. The mashed potatoes and white rice with soy sauce became the only decent thing I would eat during lunch at Windjammer. For 4 days I ate white rice at lunch. I am not a picky eater at all the food was that bad. Our stateroom was beautiful and we had a balcony that we enjoyed every morning and evening. The AC did not work properly in our room so that was a problem. Our room host was so helpful and put in two maintenance requests for us. We also went to guest services to report and they promised a follow up call which never came. The air finally started working. When I called down to let guest services know since they never called us they stated we had not closed our balcony properly so the AC would not work until it was correctly closed. WELL MAKE A SIGN ON THE FIRST DAY ON THE BED OR SOMETHING! I have no idea if it was us or the AC that wasn't working, but we had several other guests tell us they were having the same issues so who knows. Our room host checked our door several times so I doubt it was us. Who knows! The service was terrible. On our day in Rome all of the hot tubs were closed at the same time 6pm for cleaning. 5000 people had just spent the day in Rome walking in the heat and they closed all of the spaces to relax. The 3 pools were packed and we went to guest services to complain, but they did not seem to concerned. I did hear one of the managers asking the pool attendant why he was cleaning them all at the same time so I am sure this was fixed. Dining service was ok. We were not a fan of my time dining. After the third night we finally had a good wait staff so we started requesting them. Food was always so so. The cruise director staff was laughable. Several times we would attend trivia or mini golf tournaments and the staff would barely speak to the guests, but they would spend lots of time on their phone. One staff member told me he didn't like working on the Harmony because it is so much work and on the smaller boats he doesn't have to do as much. They are selling or upselling something at every turn. We felt like we were constantly being asked for money. When we have cruised with Disney it is all included except alcohol so having only one or two restaurants to choose from was disappointing. We had already paid a lot for this cruise so $50 more every night at dinner was not an option. Disney is our cruise line and will be again. We are considering one more RC since the dates fit better with where and when we want to travel, but we will see. I called guest services after our cruise and received a credit 2 weeks later so that is the only reason we will even consider it. Disney does it right with food and service. RC could take some notes. This was a family get together and 3 nights was a good option for us. Embarkation experience was excellent but do advise on line check in beforehand. Lovely cabin, spacious, nice decor. Windjammer buffet cramped. Difficult to move around in so would not recommend. Dinners in Grande dining room normal cruise fare- nothing outstanding and food often not warm enough but Shadiek was wonderful waiter and knew what he was doing. To avoid the crowds we thought we d try breakfast in American Icon a la carte restaurant. Very disappointing- staff inexperienced, wrong orders brought, food cold and generally not very nice. How difficult is juice, bacon and eggs? Breakfast recommendation is for express breakfast in American Icon restaurant. Throughout the ship, staff were obviously under pressure and lots looked miserable. Long queues at all bars and staff no time for pleasantries. The whole experience felt very impersonal and no sense of being welcomed on holiday. Wouldn't like to be on this ship for any longer than we were as felt like a cash cow being milked by RC. Customer services leave a lot to be desired. If you enjoy cruising then this ship is not for you because you will not feel as if you are on a ship. If you love visiting shopping malls then you will love it. Won t be considering RC for future cruises. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we wanted to experience the worlds biggest ship. It was the biggest but it was the biggest mistake we had made. We ate at 6pm in the Grande and the staff could not find our table 2nights out of 3 . We did find the food very nice but no better than other cruises. The Aqua theatre was not open and that was one of the main things we wanted to see. Greece show was fantastic but the rest of the entertainment was rubbish. Shame as on the Addventure of the seas entertainment was really good. Our cabin was very smart , lovely bathroom but no toiletries were provided only soap. And also no hot water for the 3 days. Chris our cabin boy was very nice. Most helpful. But could not sort out hot water problem but not his fault. And why once you've paid gratuities why do you have to pay a service charge on top. Especially when the service was poor. Not enough staff. Had to wait along time to get served at the bars. Two drinks with service charge cost us 25 dollars!!!!!!! And whey were not that nice. This was not the experience we had expected. At night we could hear drilling or sanding . Workmen were still working on the ship. Some of the hot tubs were closed and as there was so menu people on the ship it was very hard to get in the ones that were working ,another disappointment. The one good thing was that with online sea pass it was very easy and quick getting on board but the excitement soon dispersed as the day went on. If we had known we would have waited and booked a cruise later in the year and not wasted time and money on this one. Read Less

So we stayed on from the 1st cruise and still it's not the proper 'maiden' voyage. Just under 300 people stayed on and we queued to swap Seapass cards over. We keep our Seapass cards as souvenirs but they never delivered our first cruise cards back to us as they did on Ovation last month. There was nowhere to sit outside comfortably as workmen were frantically trying to get it finished. We were forced to attend the lifeboat drill though having done this 4 days ago. As there were not enough seats, it would have made sense to exclude us. Had the same issue as the first cruise, hunt the ship for orange juice and then lemonade on day 2. As I've said before, I don't drink tea or coffee so this was an issue for me. Still no Aqua theatre, but 1 watershute opened. Still constant drilling and sanding by workmen. Just to top off a dire week, at 2.15am on departure morning we were woken by an in-cabin announcement of an emergency on deck 11. This was repeated twice, just in case we were not woken the first time. Didn't get back to sleep and didn't pay £200 a night to be woken up in the middle of the night, Poor training. Just as we nearly got back to sleep, it was time to depart. No issues getting off, I think everywhere went at 6.30am as they couldn't wait to leave the building site. It didn't look like it was anywhere near ready for the 'maiden' voyage later that day. As I said on my review from last week, don't be put off this ship, just give it a couple of months to be finished and snagged. There is so much to do. Ship is for families and the super fit due to it's size. Such a shame this wasn't ready for paying guests. Read Less

We chose this 'taster' three day cruise to see what the new Harmony of the Seas was like. It was advertised as the largest cruise liner. We had been on Oasis of the Seas and did not expect there would be many differences (Except for a few inches in length) but we found the twisting tube runs fun, as something new. The ship was really not ready to sail. There were workmen (mostly French) all over the place trying to fix things or get things to work for the first time. Only a few people had magnetic 'Do Not Disturb' and 'Make up My Room' signs and none could be found by our room steward for us or for others nearby. Consequently, he had to knock on the door to see if it was convenient for him to come in, which was irritating. There was no Aqua show as the pool was not ready. So, we went to the ice skating show twice and it was the best I have seen. The screens for the lifeboat drill got stuck when the crew tried to open them. There were too few toilets at each end of the ship and the one (!) by the Windjammer buffet was difficult to find. Rock climbing was not available on day one. On day two, climbers were not allowed to get to the top because there were wires obstructing the upper area. We had no dinner on the third night - we had booked for $80 for the two of us in Chops Grill, as a treat. We went there the day before to explain that one of us is a Coeliac and had to eat gluten free and asked for a menu to be marked for possible choices. Also that we had to eat in 2 hours 15 minutes because we were going to a show in the main theatre. When we arrived at Chops Grill the next day before 6pm we were given menus and water. After 35 minutes I had to go to find someone to ask if we could place our order. Eventually, after another seven minutes a waiter appeared. He knew nothing about my food allergy and said he would ask the chef to make some suggestions. After further delay, we placed our order. After some time I was told that the chef had changed his mind and I could not have the soup that I had been told I could eat. The first two courses were served eventually. We bought wine but had to refill our own glasses. There was then a long further delay and we had been there almost two hours and had not received our main courses which we would have to have eaten in about 15 minutes then leave without desert course, cheeses or coffee. Then the waiter appeared and said I could not have the main course of aged prime rib because it came in a bag to be heated and the chef was not sure what was in it. We walked out to get to the theatre on time and asked for a full refund. The manager did not apologise but said we should have allowed two hours to eat. He seemed not to understand that we were still waiting for our main course after one hour 55 minutes. What kind of 'speciality' restaurant is that, we wondered. After we left the theatre at 9:50pm that evening after an excellent show of 'Grease' we thought we would go to the Windjammer buffet restaurant or one of the others to have something additional to eat. They had all closed early at 9:30pm. Our last night was made sleepless for several hours by pumps operating outside our door coping with leaking pipes. We were told we had to get off the ship at 6:30am if we wanted to carry our own luggage. Being quite fed up by that stage, we had a leisurely breakfast instead and walked off at 9am. The Windjammer buffet food was good with gluten free breads, etc. We had one meal in the main dining room but were annoyed by the table allocation because the room was barely 5% full when we arrived but we were led to a table alongside a service station. After protesting we were allocated a well positioned table. The food was indifferent but the attitude of the staff was reasonable. It is a good thing that we know that cruises on Royal Caribbean can be good, even though there is not usually a proper cinema. Read Less

We have been wanting to go on Oasis of the Seas and hand to got round to it, so when The Harmony of the Seas released it was sailing from Southampton we couldn't wait to book it. Prior to going we had booked the drinks packages for our family but was unable to book for our son who was 20 and Royal Caribbean usually make you sign a waver for people under 21, this proved very difficult as the web site wouldn't allow us to so I rang them to be told we would have to organise this when we got onto the ship. When we arrived at Southampton we embarked the ship very quickly and soon realised as we boarded that the ship had not been fully finished. We had taken a group of non cruisers and had raved about how good this cruise was going to be. So you can imagine our disappointment. We went straight to Guest Relations to sort out the waiver to be told that Royal Caribbean has stopped doing waivers over 3 years ago on Europian hols. I explained that that wasn't what R C said on there website and when I phoned. The lady just dist us and went to move onto next person, which I thought was rude. We then went to the Windjammer cafe for Lunch and it wasn't open, when it did open there wasn't many staff to clear tables and help, so tables loaded with plates and not very clean. The Windjammer isn't as big as on other ships and the choice not as good. Food tepid so not an enjoyable experience. The room was deck 12 and was very comfortable and clean , the room assistant very helpful. Toilet was a bit temperamental but worked not like some of the guests rooms. We ate in the American Icon which was very cramped and our waiter was very helpful , food not as good as on other RC ships. One of our group had a bit of elastic string which ties the chicken legs in his food X waiter and head waiter very apologetic, took our room no but nothing else done about it. Food again tepid warm. But of good standard. Drinks waiter was brilliant and drinks flowed throughout the trip. Al a carte breakfast very slow , things forgotten and some things didn't arrive, day 2 breakfast took 1 1/2 and we gave up. There were lots of iPads around the ship allowing you to check out ship activities and entertainment, prior to coming we had tried to book shows but again website would allow us, and on checking on th first night realised we could pre book the shows but unfortunately some had already been filled, the ice show and comedy club, and as our group was 14 of us it took ages to keep adding next guest. When I approached a RC Helper he just said that's how it is a you just have to get on with it, again not very helpful. I suggest anyone doing it try to pre book before cruise or do it as soon as you can to avoid disappointment. There were not enough drink waiters around the ship to fulfill you needs and some of the bar staff and very miserable and not happy and friendly, so long waits for drink and on one occasion no drink. Really not a good advert when you have a drinks package. The ship had lots of areas that were unfinished and paint and glue marks all over the new floors, some floors not even finished especially around the jogging track. On day 3 at sea workmen were working to repair and put up things and areas shut off, the ship was full so again not satisfactory. Boxes of parts and bits of equipment dotted about needing to be put up. Work in progress. Grease was fantastic and worth the hassle of trying to book it. The silent disco was great fun highly recommend that. The Abys slide was cool, only 1 water slide was working , and the aqua theatre show was cancelled. I think once the ship has tweaked it's problems and got everything working it should be a great ship. But for us going on a ship with work in progress was not on and RC should of made people aware of it prior to arriving at the port Read Less

A lot of the advertised attractions were not open and pool playing areas roped off. Breakfast was served cold and when exchanged, was cold again. Our TV was not even configured to work and was not resolved until the day before we disembarked. Paid for a premium restaurant package, only to be told that no reservations were available. After visiting these restaurants in person, we were able to book two of them. So bad communication there. I must say however, that the food and the staff in Jamie's Italian and The Chops Grille were amazing. A customer service assistant advised us that the journey had been an absolute disaster. Wanted to explore and investigate this new ship. Cruisers with over 30 cruises . Mainly cruise Celebrity. We were prepared to be underwhelmed and we were preoared for there to be some snag type problems on board. In fact we were disappointed and upset at the degree of the unfinished state and the generally poor service on board. We sailed in the owners suite which was very nice but on deck 14 and from 6am in the morning until gone 1am at night we were treated to the sound of loud grinding which only stopped after angry requests to guest relations. Luggage to room was delivered after 8 pm after an 11am boarding and was only located after many complaints. Suites lounge messy , unkempt and definitely not maintained. Coastal kitchen fully booked by others before we boarded. Service generally poor and food mediocre. Many facilities onboard cordoned and closed. Other facilities not fully functional. Muster assembly a joke. Instructors did not even know how to put on a life jacket. After that impressive demonstration of ineptitude nothing by way of instruction. Bars ok but under stocked. Smoking and smell from same out of control . Children's facilities almost all closed. Ice show and Grease the Musical were good. Aqua show cancelled. Generally VERY DISAPPOINTED. This cruise was NOT sold as substandard but definitely was. Who wants a discount against another Royal Carobbean cruise???? An empty gesture. RCCL failed to deliver anything like an enjoyable holiday experience and in arrogance offer faint apology. We recommend you go elsewhere. Read Less

Here is my feedback to RCI. I think that it is a balanced review. I thought that other Cruisers may be interested. The good bits: Check-in – arriving at our chosen time, we were directed to a check-in agent, who scanned the Sea Passes, we answered the three questions, and we were on our way. Less than two minutes. Now that is a WOW! Stateroom cards awaiting us, loaded up with what we had ordered and our benefits as Gold members. Big improvement. USB charging points in the stateroom – extremely useful. RoyaliQ. A very useful app which we used a lot. Staff. They were almost of the usual RCI standard but were obviously fighting the incomplete services. They were most apologetic when something didn’t work or they had run out of things. Despite it all they gave a very good impression. Grease. We have seen this show numerous times from the West End to amateur productions as well as the film. This beats the lot by a mile! The set, the lighting and the sound were superb. The choreography was divine. The acting was excellent. The singing was great. Only one small gripe. The song which Sandy sings at the end of the records scene with Rizzo, was sung far too powerfully. It was not in keeping with either the song, which is sad, or the character. It did show off the power in the singer’s voice but it did spoil the song completely. 1887. Forget the so called story line (it was invisible to all except the creator!!!!) this was a superb show. We have seen several ice shows on RCI and this was the best by far. The costumes were amazing, the skaters were so very professional and the lighting effects were unbelievable. We attended all of the headliner shows except Tenors of Rock (not our taste in music) and all were excellent entertainment by very professional acts. We especially like Bobby Davro. The Orchestra. I know it was only one set up on deck 5 but they were superb. I could have sat through a whole show of just them. Jazz on 4. We don’t normally stay up late but on all four evenings we stayed up way past our bedtime to listen to these musicians par excellence. I cannot find words to describe the pleasure that they gave us. I have kept their names and will be ordering CDs of their music. I must also add that the young lady barman was outstandingly good. I think that her name was Kristina. Wonderland. A restaurant which kept us guessing from start to finish. The tastes and textures were an amazing mix which gave pleasure to the senses. It was good to see that Chops Grill has not diminished in quality at all. The menu in the American Grill was extensive and the quality of the food was very good. The bad bits: Our table in the American Grill (306) was difficult to get to and very squashed with other tables. The impression was of tables being crammed in together to make up the numbers. The wine waiter never came to ask if we wanted anything (which we did) and we had to ask our waiter who obviously didn’t have a clue about wines. As a result, we had half-finished our main course before we ordered. We only had a glass each instead of our normal bottle as there wasn’t time to finish it. All the restaurant staff appeared to be rushed and not working as the relaxed efficient team that we are used to. I suspect that the processes need to be sorted out. There were far too many technicians working in all parts and on all decks of the ship. To see cables being run in to booths on Deck 8 (or was it 5?) showed just how much work there was to do on the ship. Also equipment being installed above roof panels with wiring hanging down waiting to be connected. We had anticipated small glitches (e.g. no channel descriptors on the TV Guide page, water handle on the basin out of alignment) but not the major failings and incomplete work. There were boxes and cabinets waiting to be used in the public areas. One balcony area was full of boxes and equipment roughly covered with a tarpaulin. There was equipment waiting to be installed in the bar area of Wonderland. I have experience of work being contracted to French maintenance organisations so I should not have been surprised when the ship was in the state it was. Never did the French deliver something to schedule! The difference with my organisation is that we refused to accept the work until it was completed and we invoked the late delivery clause in the contract. The PA system on decks 5 and 8 was useless. We couldn’t make out a word that was said because of the echoes. Because there was no PA in the rooms we didn’t hear a single announcement in the 4 days that we were on the ship. It was OK for hearing the emergency alarm. Booking a restaurant was not possible from either the app or the TV. You had to go to the restaurant itself to book it. By the time we realised this many of the slots we wanted were full. Fortunately, the staff did their best to accommodate us. Having to wash your hands before going into the Windjammer restaurant is an aim to be applauded. However, only having 4 wash basins meant extremely long queues at peak times. This was totally unacceptable. At least 4 or 5 times that number of washbasins are required in order to give an acceptable wait time. We spurned Windjammer as a result. The normal sanitizers should be available until this is sorted out. Not enough thought has gone into this. What is especially annoying is that all other restaurants either have sanitizers or nothing at all!!! Where is the consistency? Finally, the biggest failure of all. After I booked this cruise back in October it struck me that I had never heard of the Harmony of the Seas. I went to your web site and looked it up. The background image was of the Aqua show with descriptions of how it is amazing and proving to be a great success on your other Oasis class of ships. Other friends had also told us how good it was. To find out after we were well underway that it would not be on was a major disappointment. Watching the rehearsals showed just how far behind it was. I fail to see how an organization like RCI could not have had the rehearsals carried out on the other two ships when the pool and trampoline were not being used. This is a major failing of RCI. Some of the shops were not open. Either they were not ready or the concessions had decided that it wasn’t good for their brand image to be on a ship with so many issues. I received three e-mails about the need to have the check in completed and the sea pass ready at the appropriate time. I did not receive an e-mail saying that there was still lots of work to complete on the ship and that the Aqua show would not be available. At no time before the cruise was I told that this was a “pre-inaugural” cruise. That phrase only was used on the 3rd or 4th night by the Cruise Director. In summary, the ship should eventually be up to your usual standard and meet the expectations which RCI dedicated cruisers have come to expect. But on our cruise (and I suspect the current one also) the ship simply wasn’t ready for fare paying passengers. It was OK to have some Elite Class and above passengers on board on a complimentary cruise to receive their feedback but not for passengers to pay money. This ship is not yet ready. I am sure that you are considering compensation to the passengers. Read Less

Took the train to Southampton. Arrived around 1pm - it was very busy but lots of agents and was onboard within 5 minutes. Was annoyed to see the luggage people literally throw our cases onto the trolley! They were then left out in the pouring rain and delivered soaking wet. Not the best start but it got far worse. This cruise was sold to us a maiden voyage and not as a pre-inaugural cruise despite what RC say. Lifeboat drill was a shambles. They were nowhere near enough seats and people who had to stand for well over half an hour. The man speaking got his words muddled then disappeared for 10 minutes or more before reappearing and disappearing again. Staff had no idea how to put lifejackets on. I've been to far more demos than them and almost felt like voluneering. Cabins are lovely when new. Shame the carpet was already stained when it had not had any paying guests before me. Drawers at the bottom of the wardrobe didn't shut. The balcony door handles wont last 5 minutes they are so cheap. My toilet flushed when it wanted to, normally a few minutes later. One of our party's cabins had an issue with the minibar fridge. It had turned into a freezer and everything was frozen solid and cans burst. Why did it take 2 days to swap? Annoying blue light on the outside bathroom light switch along with curtains that let all the light in justified my sleep mask! An essential item on a RC ship along with earplugs to stop the constant drilling and sanding noise we got used to over the next week. We had a connecting cabin but the door was too heavy and not sound proof so not good if you are not travelling with the people next to you. Avoid! Beds were very nice and comfy. Lovely big sofa. Nice size cabin. Was extremely disappointed to learn the aqua theatre was not ready so no shows. We were looking forward to this the most. The watershutes were all closed too. Apparently they leaked and were rough inside, not smooth. Lots of things were closed or not finshed. The Windjammer buffet restaurant is the smallest I have seen on any RC ship which was surprising considering this is the largest cruise ship with 6000 passengers capacity. Tables were crammed in and food choice was poor compared to other RC ships. I couldnt believe there was no orange juice for breakfast the first morning. Ovation of the seas had the same issue last month. Lemonade ran out on day 2 of the second cruise. Should I bring my own next cruise as this is becoming a habit. Interestingly we were told there were only 4400 guests on board out of a potential 6000. As a lot of the decks are out in the open, this made the inside areas very crowded when the weather was bad. Luckily this Ship is heading to the Med and then back to the Caribbean so people should be able to use the open decks and sun beds so hopefully it wont appear too crowded then. Smoking in the very large casino on deck 4 meant we saved lots of money by simply refusing to go in there. However, we got more than enough passive smoke as it wafted all over the deck and into the lifts. We ended up going through deck 5 then down to avoid the casino. Nancy the Diamond concierge never had the courtesy to contact us back with a request for a kettle. RC have taken tea and coffee making out of the cabins again. Room service would bring hot water for tea but it tasted of coffee as the same jugs had been used. Room service didnt answer the phone the first day then didn't deliver what was ordered via the TV. They said there was an issue with the TV ordering. Tried breakfast a few times via room service but rarely got what we ordered. Going to the Windjammer wasn't an option as this was always full with nowhere to sit. No outside talbles either. Worth trying the other restaurants. Diamond lounge was full. Nancy was nowhere to be seen later that evening. Instead, behind her desk were drunk passengers impersonating staff. Park Cafe was a nice little place but only had the same 2 choices of salads and sandwiches all week. Shame we had to wrap up to go outside to get to it. Restaurants were also crammed full of tables. Johnny Rockets was enjoyable and amazing milkshakes. Shame it has a $6.95 cover charge. But it was nice and quiet in there. What happened to the days of everything included? It seems RC want to charge extra for lots now. 18% on top of drinks and spa just made us not visit the spa on principle. So it may appear like my review is a big moan but it isn't - I am just being honest and it should have been finished. We were prepared for inefficiencies having spent 8 days on Ovation when launched but not on this level. You dont expect to pay £1300 to spend a week on a building site. This was also the discounted price after a special onboard Anthem promotion of a 3rd off but still not cheap and certainly not a discounted price for the 'inaugural' cruise. It's such a shame because RC have damaged their reputation for the sake of raking in the money from us to start recouping the constructing costs. Once finished in another month or 2 maybe, it will be truly fantastic so dont be put off booking, just give it a couple of months to finish, snag and train staff. We did actually enjoy what was finished. We didn't complain to guest relations as it was far too busy with those who encountered far worse. The state of the Ship did spoil what should have been a fantastic holiday. After all we paid for a weeks holiday on a cruise ship, not a construction site. We half expected them to deliver blue hard hats, sanders and drills to our cabins so we could help out. 4400 people more would get it finished! On the plus side, the Abyss is amazing, the flow riders awesome. Table tennis, sports court, crazy golf. There really is so much to do on board which is why I am so annoyed that RC had the cheek to send PAYING guests on this Ship when it was not fully constructed. Having been on the pre inaugural cruise and then the maiden voyage on Ovation of the Seas last month, I can confirm that did not have teams of builders crawling all over it like Haromony. OK, it had some teething problems but at least it was fully constructed. We booked this as a back to back cruise and were forced to remain on the building site for the next 3 night cruise. We took the opportunity to take lots of pictures of the ship whilst it was quiet. Unfortunately the builders were everywhere so feature in a lot of pics. We thought we would relax in the solarium in the morning but the workmen had a door off and were sanding that down right in the middle! Thought we would sit by the aqua theate instead as it was warmer outside but the noise of the sanding curtailed that option too. Was pleased RC have finally admitted on 4th June via email that this ship should not have sailed in such a state. However a 50% off what we paid for the 4 night cruise and 25% off the 3 night cruise, will not cover the cost to go on this Ship again and see the Aqua theatre which is what we wanted to see. I am also interested to understand how they think the 2nd cruise was 25% better than the 1st. The only thing that changed was that 1 watershute was working and building activity increased as they frantically tried to get stuff ready for the so-called maiden voyage. Read Less

Worst week ever You should re name this ship waiting of the seas because that's what you will be doing. First night American grill one and a half hours before a starter arrives took over three and a half hours for our first evening meal.new York strip should be call sole of your shoe, Second night Chops grill which you pay for Reservation booked for 8pm Shown to our table at ten to 9pm Sat until 10.30 then walked out with no meal (shocking) Windjammer should be re named Jammer as its so small you will not find a table. Only 2 small bars in the main pool deck they can't cope. You will struggle to find a seat in any public area. If you happen to smoke forget it 4 tables deck 15 or casino 4 tables The service is dreadful. It's all about maximising profit Crammed in then extract as much money from them. Book again not even if it was free now at Southampton and can not wait to get of. I must say last night in the dining room the head waiter Milan went above his title and done everything to make it a pleasant night top marks for him shame there aren't many more staff like him.guest services was a joke lines that went on for ever air con stuck on full in cabin would not have been bad if we was somewhere hot cabin boy said he would get me a blanket maintenece workers all over,Aqua thearte and many other things not in use top deck is rammed with sun beds no tables anymore outside windjammer.no sope in some of the public toilets, large bins in the cubicle of the toilet as there was no sanatary ones in place dining room is so squashed the poor staff cannot get between tables as your chairs are touching the next tables. I would not recommend this ship to anyone in fact it has put me of cruising with rrc again Read Less

We were used as guinea pigs!!!! This ship was NOT ready to take on passengers but did anyway. Toilets in staterooms often did not flush - reported - fixed (eventually). Basin water very tepid - reported - fixed (after a while). No orange juice in buffet for breakfast - when reported was told they had none on the ship!!!! - then it miracously appeared on the third day. Aqua show not ready and won't be for a while yet!!!! Saw a show with two comedians in the "Attic venue" - literally on for a total of thirty five minutes between them (not each) - the venue was far too small for the amount of guests onboard. ALL SHOWS had to be pre-booked - something that has NEVER happened on other cruises we have been on. Food in the buffet was not varied enough (choice I mean) and most of the time was tepid. The only good point on this ship was the food in the restaurants was very good, which we used on the last two days. There was a film channel on the TV but no guide or information as to when and what was on - I contacted the broadcast manager (well tried to on several occasions - he was elusive), but through guest services was told it was on a playlist with an eighteen hour turnaround - she said "the film you want to see should be on TV around 7pm" - so we rushed our dinner in the restaurant - just had the main course - and guess what? - went back to our stateroom and it NEVER appeared. Just another gliche. I asked about the 3D movies that were supposed to be shown - where I asked? I was told it would be in the theatre but guess what - NOT ready for this cruise!!!! My list is endless - along with MOST of the passengers on this cruise that should never have happened - there were people telling me that if they were offered a flight home from Rotterdam - they would take it - they just wanted to get off the ship - myself and my husband agreed. I spent most of the time on the phone talking to guest services about one complaint after another - stressed out - this did not help my high blood pressure at all. Read Less
