After our cruise in 2013 on the Star Flyer, we didn't plan to ever book another cruise with them. There were just too many problems including unsafe tender transfers. However, we saw a sweet deal that included airfare and decided to give them another try. Our experience was better, but still with significant negative issues. The people who seem happiest with Star Clippers are those who don't ...
This was my first cruise on a Star Clipper, and this was an adventure! We were on the 2nd cruise from Cuba, and there were many many teething problems. The transfers from Havana had been arranged by the land agents of Star Clipper, and many arrived 2 hrs prior to boarding - but very limited facilities. Happily arrangements were made to board passengers 1 hr early

We too were on the second cruise from Cienfuegos Cuba to the Cayman islands and back, as was the previous reviewer. However, we rate the cruise more positively than he did. There were indeed teething problems, but nowhere near as bad as the previous (first) week, when the ship ran aground due to incorrect sea charts. A problem for some with these cruises is the departure port on the south side of ...
Recommended by a friend who also went on the same cruice, and he was a friend if the owner which he helped to finance to built the ships.. At that time I was living in Sweden. The crew and service aboard was absolut excellent. And I meet my future wife on the cruice,we get married feb 14 2014 she had cabin number 119, and I moved to USA where she was living. Very happy with the cruice. We are both ...
In several of the ports in Costa Rica, the landings involved both a tender and a Zodiac. For the first 5 days of the 7 night cruise of northern Costa Rica and Nicaragua, there were never any life jackets in the Zodiacs. I raised the issue with the crew after a particularly frightening transfer. It was mid day and the wind had become strong and the water very choppy. Our Zodiac had one female ...

Having spent three and a half days in Panama City, we were collected from the Hotel Deville, the sun had decided to shine today and the sky was bright blue with no hint of rain. We had seen the Flyer in the distance anchored off the Isla Flamneco as we strolled along the Avienda Balboa in the morning and having cooled off over lunch waited for our pick up.

Summary
We like Star Flyer but there are many faults that need to be addressed before we chose to sail with them again. Ports of call, experience of the CD and poor information could and should be perfect after 20 years but are not

We booked the Phoenicia independently which is a wonderful place and we could see the ship from our window

This was our 4th Star Flyer cruise and for atmosphere on board was probably the best. Windy weather and fairly high seas meant a change of itinerary but that is part of the fun! We started from Monaco, St Tropez the next day. Then a sail across to Corsica, Menorca and finally Majorca. We were kept well informed of the changes and the reasons for them and were very happy with every port we visited. ...
I've read a few reviews of voyages with Star Clippers on Cruise Critic and I thought it was time to try to sum up why this quirky cruise line really works. It's not for everybody, that's certain but the question is, "Is it right for you?"My wife and I are repeat travellers with Star Clippers now. We've been on all three ships, once on a coast hopping trip up the Yucatan (sadly no longer one of ...
