This was our first European river cruise, after having been on more than a dozen ocean cruises (predominantly HAL, some Royal Caribbean, and a Seabourn). We sailed Budapest to Vilshoven and were absolutely delighted with the service, atmosphere, food and wine.
We opted for a cabin in the lowest deck, which was "cozy," but totally fine for our needs. Possible drawbacks: closer to the water ...
We chose this cruise line on recommendation of our Travel Agent, did research and selected the Serena based on good reviews. We are so glad we did. The ship is beautiful, meals fantastic, well prepared and served by a wonderful waitstaff. John the tour guide/leader was very good and attentive. The entertainment offered on board dovetailed with the location we were in (string trio in Vienna, ...
We have been a lot of places, and on several cruises, but this was our first river cruise. AMA does it right! We were on the AMASerena for Melodies of the Danube. It was a wonderful experience, and all 3 of us hated for it to end. The food was out of this world - the best we have ever had, and the service was great. The rooms are a little small, of course, which we knew, and the wifi was terrible ...
Unbelievable staff with impeccable service and attention to detail from beginning to end. Could not have been better. All tour guides were local and very knowledgeable about their history. Dining was superb with great food choices and local wines. Everything was smooth and easy. Excursions were available for all levels of persons, from gentle walkers to hikers. Bikes were 7 speed cruisers and ...
Having never been on a river cruise, we relied on our travel agent's judgment to select both a company and an itinerary. She chose AmaWaterways "Melodies of the Danube" and we are glad she did. The company is a first class organization. The ship is newer, clean, beautifully appointed and has all the bells and whistles to make a 7 day cruise just perfect. The staff were always professional, ...
The ship was beautiful with a fabulous sun deck. There was a pool which was great for relaxing after a day of sightseeing. The food and wine selections were outstanding especially at the Chef's Table Restaurant - a small specialty restaurant available to passengers at no additional cost - it offered a multi-course dinner and wine parings.
There was a wide variety of tours and activities in ...

Thank you to Monika, our director, for planning and ensuring that everything went smoothly!! The excursions were for every ability with many choices. Other friends had been on some. All had thoroughly enjoyed it! Our 50th Anniversary was in April...so we thought we would treat ourselves! Contacted our Travel Agent and she did all the research work for us...it was wonderful! It was a marvelous cruise....so much to do and so many points of interest!
The staff and crew in every role were amazing...friendly...smiling...it was all just like a ...
What a wonderful experience! It was the crew's first cruise of the season, but the Eastern European crew were very well-trained and friendly. This was a flawless cruise. The food, service, and accommodation were all as good as can be. The fact that beer and wine are included during meals and excursions are included as well only added to the experience. The cuisine and the entertainment changed to ...
After speaking to numerous people, we selected AMAWaterways for our Christmas Markets on the Danube and couldn't have been more happy that we did. There was nothing that I would change. The accommodations were comfortable. The food was out of this world. The tours were fabulous and tour guides (except Regensburg) were great. And the Cruise Director Christian was wonderful.
So to ...
