this was a gift from my son and daughter=in=law. i am 71 and had always wanted to go on a cruise, so it was a birthday and mothers day gift The crew and service was wonderful and friendly .it was always clean and neat. The cruise itself was smooth. all the entertainment was fun. My best time as spent talking and meeting the cruise director MATEY. He was a very fun guy and just a wonderful.young man all together. The highlight of my trip. Thank you ll so much for such a fabulous first cruise.....As far as encinata goes, all we did ws go to see the blowhole and a giant fleamarket, that was expensive and hard on my old feet. that is all we did. i would have enjoyed ship entertainment much more. its what the kids wanted to do though. gain thank you MATEY for making my first cruise a happy one.. The crew was great! This ship is worn out and out dated. Not worth the money being paid for a four day cruise! Poor up keep and loud. Carnival is just sucking the money out of this ship. I guess it would be okay if you were drunk alll the time on board. The cruise director was good and funny. Long Beach port is bad and under staff. Back to ship, very poor information on getting around on ship. Carnival wants your money. Stay out of the casino at all costs. The sail and sign accounts they make you have, gets charge for everything that carnival wants. The beverage packages have an automatic 15% gradutiy no matter what and they do not tell you that you still have to pay tax on the all drinks. Top notch restaurant staff and fun. That was the very few positive points that this ship had. Read Less

Ok, I'm just gonna go category-by-category so I don't forget anything: SHIP: This ship legit looked like it was straight out of 1992--and not in a cool nostalgic kind of way. It is dated. Really dated. And it smells. My friends and I narrowed it down to this list of rotating odors that waft throughout the ship at any given time: cigarettes, farts, garbage or some other unpleasant smell we couldn't identify. The pool was a weird shade of green that looked like algae... I didn't get in once(and I usually swim like a fish). A part of the ship that was GOOD was the Serentiy Adults Only deck. The only complaint here though, is that the hot tubs were dirty. Like, the water left a weird brown residue on my bikini and my friends' bikinis as well. Gross. The Pride Dining Room was ok. Entrees were hit or miss; ultimately the best meal I had all week was the filet mignon that I had to pay an extra $20 for. CABIN: It was fine.... a typical indoor room. Only issue here was there wasn't a fridge! Also, our bathroom had all sorts of little gnats/flies flying around the top of the bathroom and dozens of dead bugs were above the door, in the corner of the ceiling and on the floor as well. Kinda gross. EMBARKATION/MUSTER: Embarkation was the best I've ever seen! Super fast, my room was ready within 10 minutes of me getting on the ship and our luggage wasn't too far behind! So that was great. The muster drill, however, was the slowest, longest muster I've seen. I don't understand why it took so long on such a small ship that wasn't even full, but it took FOREVER. DISEMBARKATION: I walked myself off and it was fine. ENTERTAINMENT: "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." CREW: Great crew! I love how Carnival crew members call everyone by name. It's such a great touch, and so much better than being called "Miss", "Ma'am" or "Madame". SPA/FITNESS CENTER: Spa was pretty good. Got a great deal on a sea day for a massage and I really enoyed it! it was very good!! The fitness center was fine, just a bit small. But I never had to wait for equipment! I traveled in a group of 7 women who were on a Girl's Trip. All of us are in our mid 20s to mid 30s. Read Less

I chose this cruise as this wasn't the first time taking this trip. I must say after completing this cruise, my sister & I were highly disappointed in the level of quality/service/food provided. Here is a quick breakdown of events in order: - Arrived on the boat with the "Faster to the fun option", which ensures our room is ready upon boarding the ship. The room was cleaned up, however the request was for the beds to be seperated and it was not. I approached the Steward and was advised that I can wait till the evening for the beds to be seperated. Now after a 5 hour drive to get to the ship, we really wanted to take a quick nap so that answer was not acceptable. I went over to guest services to voice my concern and about 15 minutes later the steward took care of the issue and for the rest of the cruise handled our room much better. -After resting, my sister and I decided to have some lunch on the Lido deck and that was a mistake. All the food was cold/dry and really inedible. Pizza was worse than frozen options at the grocery store. Sandwiches were burnt and poorly made and then the buffet items were cold/dry and poorly flavored(was no flavor). Needless to say, the lack of quality tasting/edible food continued throughout the entire trip. The only edible food was from Guy Fieri's Burger Station. Eating hamburgers wasn't expected but I mean people on the show "Survivor" were eating better than we were. - Signed up for the Soda package for unlimited drinks, which did save us money. The issue I have with the program is you can only go to the bar to get the drink, which is poorly located with the food stations. Plus, the cans are left out all day and the cups used are warm, so the ice melts quickly and you have to stop over by the normal beverage station for more ice. I'm not an ice tea drinker, the free beverage option wasn't good for me. My sister does drink Ice tea and declined the soda option at first, but after she started drinking the tea, she said the tea tasted really watered down and not good, so she ended up signing up for the soda package instead. - As far as activities go, the trivia was nice along with the bingo. Bingo is expensive based on the option selected, however the bingo host was funny and kept the game interactive. The final sea day was setup with large gaps in between activities, which really wasn't fun for us as the downtime options are either to go to the Casino and lose your money, drink alcohol to kill the time or sleep. I could keep going, but all in all after our family has done over 10 trips with Carnival, this will be our last one. I understand getting what you pay for, however the food should be edible, the service should be good throughout and when you pay extra to have your room ready upon arrival, the room should be ready. Good luck! Read Less

I went with 14 women, we wanted a fun at a economical price... Myself, my room mate, and our friends next to us along with several other people from our side of the Ship heard banging noise on the side of the Ship Day and night..Kept us awake during the whole cruise.. We complained 3 times.. Our friends were able to move to another cabin. Customer service claimed that they didn't have another room to move us, instead they compensated us with a beach towel, and a robe... That didn't help us sleep any better. There were a lot of kids on board, running up and down the hall ways, playing in the elevators, and had full control of the Jacuzzi.. Unsupervised by their parents. Again for 4 days weren't able to use the Jacuzzi.. On the plus side, the dining and food was wonderful, our waiters, Christian Villaflor, Larry Caballes, and Made Mudita were wonderful.. So was our cabin attendant Sharon was always friendly, smiling and called us by name.. I only had 1 drink in 4 days, but was charged $82.22 including tips.. something is wrong there too..would like a reply from Carnival.. Read Less

The cruise was really good. Clean Ship great food and passengers. We had a great time meeting other people and getting to enjoy the activities. Keep a good attitude and have fun. We also had the Faster to the Fun, which cost extra per cabin. This allowed us to have the wrong available to us early, so when we got there the room was available to us. It also allowed us to disembarked first when we arrived back to long beach. The bags made it to our room pretty quickly so that was a plus. Catalina iIsland was amazing so i do recommend that. Ensenada was also good. I do recommend the carnival excursion to La Bufadora. The ship was really clean no incidents and going to ge food was pretty easy and we had no issues getting tables (we had the anytime dinner) The entertainment was also great. the have a lot of activities for you. The Divas and Rock Show was great. So if you can go to the show. please make it. Good times all around Read Less

The first thing that amazed me was how speed of boarding. It was almost an uninterrupted walk through the cruise terminal straight to the boat. (I'm glad I didn't pay extra for 'Faster to Fun') The food was good... we keep it simple and healthy (salmon, salad bar, etc...) although you can 'lose control' and overload on fat and calories (many people do). I know from experience, it's way too easy to 'overdo' the caloric intake. What I love most about Carnival is it's great for my 7 year old (it was her 3rd Carnival Cruise). They have an amazing cruise director hosting a Dr. Seuss show and EVEN a Cat in the Hat Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast. They have a small waterpark in the back of the boat; even in April it was warm enough for the little kids to enjoy. The shows were entertaining, and Catalina is always a wonderful stop. Listen, It terms of amenities, dining: it's not the Ritz, but the prices are so reasonable (damn near too good to be true) it certainly helps enjoy the trip even more. Read Less

The grand suite was not up to par, the tub fixture was loose, the room stewart only gave us one little bar of soap for 4 days, and we never saw her again to ask for more. The bed sheets looked dirty and the mattress and pillows were too hard. They were using kid looking plastic drinking cups instead of real water glasses, and there were no water glasses or ice bucket in the room. The room was also very noisy, you could hear people waliking above in the upper decks, and there was a clanging sound coming from I believe outside the ship, we could hear it at night when we were trying to sleep. When we arrived back in Long Beach, the debarking process was terrible, my husband and I got up early to take our bags down, the paper in our room said to go to deck 8 and wait in the lounge, but there was no one there to tell you anything, so we went down to deck 7 and saw some people waiting there near the staircase so we waited with them, after a half in hour we found out we had to get a a line down a hallway, by then the line was all the way down to the end. So it didn't pay to be early Read Less

One of my favorite Carnival Ships. The Imagination never disappoints. This smaller ship is perfect for the cruising purist. The cruise basics: large clean room (inside on carnival is larger than industry standards) , excellent and attentive service, MDR with wonderful service, and days of sun sun sun. No bells and whistles like the larger ships but so enjoyable for me and my 2 friends. First time cruising out of Long Beach, I am an east coaster. However, embarkation was quick. Headed straight to the pool with our carry on's got a drink, stuffed our shorts and t shirts in our bags. (trunks on under neath) and immediately started enjoying the sun. And did so for the rest of the cruise. Room was ready when we went down about 3:30, changed napped and headed to dinner MDR. Service was wonderful as always on Fantasy Class ships. (Despite the awful decor) And each dinner that followed on the cruise was delicious with wonderful service. Chocolate Melting Cake every night. No problems the entire cruise. Enjoyed Catilena Island it was my first time there. Comedy shows were spot on! And the atmosphere of mostly young 30 somethings with no kids on this cruise was ideal! Another Carnival Cruise down in the books! Oh and the price on this Cruise so much cheaper than if out of Miami on the east Coast, might cruise out of Cali again very soon. Read Less
