The trip was called Tulips and Windmills and included much more. My wife was more interested in the tulips and I was more interested in the windmills and technology. However the historical sights we visited were of great interest to both of us. It was a good mix of tours and times to rest and relax. There was some WWII history and some medieval history in the mix. The tour guides were ...
We truly enjoyed our cruise but were very glad we brought along three things: a deck of cards, raincoats, and our dear friends.
The ship, staff, and food is all great. The itinerary was fine. The problem we had was at just over 50 years old we were the second and third youngest on the ship (a daughter who went with her parents beat us for youngest). By far. This meant that all excursions ...
A friend took the same river cruise earlier in 2017 and told us about his great experience so we decided to take the same cruise. We were glad we did. the ship, crew, dinning, entertainment, service and accommodations were super. Better than we could have imagined. Entertainment on board was great. The ports and excursions were spectacular. We added some additional excursions after our trip ...
My husband, my sister-in-law and her husband and I, chose the Grand European River Cruise so that we could see ports the way the ancient merchants did. My travel companions had all been to Europe before, and saw places that they'd never been as well as a few they were delighted to visit again. Viking Cruises gave me my first European experience, and I was entranced by the beauty of Hungary, ...
We have just returned from our Viking Grand European Tour from Amsterdam to Budapest, with 2 additional days each in Amsterdam and Prague.. We departed on September 5, 2017 and returned on the 25th. This was a celebration of our 50th wedding anniversary
We chose Viking because of their fine reputation and ship size. There were 186 passengers with a ship staff of 52. Most passengers are ...
I always kidding with friends anyone book a river cruise and I will join them I got the call come join us and we did! This was the best itinerary covered all the ports we wanted. Took a day or two to understand this was different kind of trip. All the planning is done- you just enjoy! Embarkation was super easy we had Viking air & were met at the airport and take to the ship. Our cabin was ready ...
The river cruise allows one to see Europe, both the small villages and large cities without having to spend every night in a different hotel and hours on a bus without anything to do other than sit. River cruising is intimate and relaxing. I would have liked the top deck to be open more but with the locks and bridges that was not possible. The on ship entertainment was nice, the food and service ...
This is not a fan fair cruise, like you would get on the Giant overloaded 3500 people Cruise Ships. The good thing is that Viking does not advertise it as that. They are advertising a relaxing, do as you please and enjoy with option that you can or not take. The Cruise line can not control when the Water is high and they have to close the upper deck, just like big ships can't control hurricanes or ...
This was our first river cruise as we had previously enjoyed four ocean cruises with another cruise line. The itinerary of this cruise really appealed to us and it didn't disappoint. We chose not to use Viking air and booked our own air from IAD to Budapest flying KLM, it was a direct flight and we were impressed with their service. We also chose not to book with Viking for our pre and post ...
Another great cruise by Viking...
Met some wonderful friends, dined 3 times a day with our new friends from USA & Australia.
Meals were exceptional, staff were attentive, loved going to dining room.
Excursions were great, added excursions even better. Thanks to our guides, not one disappointment.
Our Cruise Director, David was amazing. He appeared everywhere, never needed to look for ...
