Wonderful Alaska Itinerary

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Star Legend

We chose this cruise for the small ship experience. It also called at ports not available with larger ships. It was our first cruise with Windstar. While it would have been interesting to explore Vancouver before the cruise, we scheduled air the same day as embarkation. Embarkation was smooth although delayed due to loading and unloading of supplies and waste.Disembarkation was also slightly ...

Expensive but NOT Luxury

My wife and I had taken 6 cruises to Alaska on various Celebrity ships. We felt that each cruise was a great value and that the amenities and service were wonderful. We decided to try a small ship experience. The per day cost of the 14-night Windstar cruise was almost twice that of our previous cruises including a cruise-tour on Celebrity. However, we were promised a luxury experience. It if ...

Nice cruise with a few glitches

Chose this cruise because it called at most of the usual Alaskan ports plus a number that are not visited by larger ships. We have sailed with Windstar before and found the small ship size to be desirable. The ship itself is in good condition and well maintained. Our cabin was a higher cost cabin(classic suite) which was more costly and spacious than most of the cabins on board. It also ...

Worst WindStar Cruise

We chose this cruise because of the itinerary and we had been on 12 other WindStar cruises and had a good experience on all of them. This cruise was different. The food was horrible- repetitive, lacking fresh fruits and vegetables with a high concentration of carbs. For breakfast we had cold scrambled eggs and cold sausages with canned fruit. I even found a hair in my food. Even the ...

Recently back from this 14 night cruise via Phillipines, Borneo and Brunei. Overall a very good trip. This is our second cruise with Windstar, and they certainly run a quality operation. The whole crew are friendly and helpful, and you are greeted by name within few days. Lovely cabins, we had a balcony suite, which was spacious, and well appointed, and it was lovely to be able to see the ...

We spent 2 nights in Bangkok prior to departing on the cruise to adjust to the time zone. Getting a taxi to the ship was a challenge, since it was close to our hotel. The taxi drivers didn't want the fare. Our cabin was fine, with a walk in closet and a tub. We spent 2 evenings at Candles on this trip and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The AmphorA dining room staff was wonderful the other ...

We lived in Asia for many years and thought a boat trip over Christmas and New Years would be fun, but Windstar were disappointing. There were positives: The Indonesian crew and Filipino are delightful, albeit not as well trained as can be. But the people are so nice it mostly makes up for the poor management. Food is good, not great. The boat itself is stylish and comfy, with great suites ...

Luxor was definitely the highlight

Review for a Middle East Cruise on Star Legend

The voyage to "Arabia & Ancient Spice routes took place over 34 nights. In a nutshell: 1. Shore experience in Luxor was disappointing as the Windstar Luxor tour put the group up at the Hilton as opposed to the superb and historic Winter Palace. 2. Food management and organization was poor. The fruit was unripe during the entire voyage and they even ran out of bananas onboard when ashore ...

We enjoyed all aspects of the cruise. The food was excellent. The service from the entire crew was amazing. Best of all the places that we visited were fabulous. I would have to try very hard to find anything to criticize. The ship is obviously older but is kept in great condition. Our room was fairly large and very comfortable. We were out of the room for most of the day and evening but it ...
