There were high expectations for this cruise. We do not get to take very many vacations together as a married couple, especially as we are working and our schedules do not align very often. So, much emphasis was placed on maximizing our time. We had take the Avalon cruise of the Rhine River in 2018, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It was an "active cruise" and also introductory - which meant that ...
We were looking for a Provence experience and Avalon delivered. First Avalon sets the standard for top. Held cruise experiences. The rooms, the staff and crew are so attentive. They made us feel so very special . The food, entertainment and excursions were all excellent. We gained so much information about all the places we visited.
The special Avalon service started at the airport where they ...
We had done Amsterdam to Basel in 2018, and Paris-Normandy-Paris in 2019. This was our third cruise, and in our opinion, the best so far. Poetry II was immaculate and the crew and staff were friendly, competent, courteous and professional. As usual, the food was superb with excellent wine accompaniments. The daily "happy hour" is the best idea yet! We haven't decided where next year's cruise will ...
I chose this cruise because thirteen friends and family were going on cruise. Unfortunately, I was the only one who made it. Two got covid, and the others cancelled because cruise was shortened to four nights, due to strikes in France. I was already in Paris so I decided to take the abbreviated cruise.
I can't really call it much of a cruise as we only spent two days actually cruising and ...
We chose this cruise because we wanted to do a river cruise and to see France up close and personal. We went with Avalon because they are very highly rated and had the perfect itinerary at very attractive fares.
Our package was northbound and included two nights in Nice which was well worth seeing. It can also be done from Paris heading south.
We then transferred to the ship, which was ...
Wanted to do a river cruise in Europe and found this one specializing in wine tasting. We had never gone on an Avalon or river cruise before. We absolutely loved it. Everything was taken care of. We felt pampered from start to finish. The staff on the ship were superb. The cabin was small but adequate since we spent so little time there. The food and wine were excellent. The activities ...
I have cruised on Avalon before and found them to be a wonderful and relaxing way to travel. I travel as a single. Their staff is very helpful in providing information on things to see and do on your own. You meet other nice travelers from all over the world. You see sites that you would never see unless you got off the beaten bath. Many UNESCO sites that would be missed if you sailed a larger ...
Our expectations for our cruise on the Rhone were high, but to our surprise Avalon exceeded these expectations consistently. The Poetry II provided superb accommodations in the Room 308 Royal Suite. Housekeeping and the wait staff were professional, thorough, and met any request quickly and completely. I would like to single out Jean-Loup Domart, our cruise director. He was professional, ...
Firstly a disclaimer this is our first river cruise although we have done a number of cruises on small ships Azamara, Oceana.
We embarked in Arle and then went downstream 1 hour to the Camarge. The active excursion by bike was great.
Day 2 back to Arle ( where we had independently spent a day) the excursion was great hiking up a limestone mountain and seeing a Van Gogh audiovisual ...
