Choose this cruise to get away with friends. Ended up on our own. The temps were cooler than expected, but warmer than PA! The service and attention from staff was excellent. We met and talked to many couples. This is very easy to do on a smaller ship. The entertainment was awesome. We enjoyed the tours and had excellent tour guides. If you want to have a good time and a relaxing day at the beach, the Party Bus is an excellent choice in Costa Maya. We also enjoyed a throughly informative and good time on the Monster Jeep Tour in Cozumel. The Conch train with a key Lime pie in Key West was great. We also enjoyed The Tale of two Cities in Belize. Cruise director and staff was a lot of fun. The comedians, dancers, singers and orchestra were excellent. Found the ship it be small but intimate Read Less

I chose this cruise because I hadn't been to the western Caribbean in several years and was travelling with a friend who had never been there. Embarkation and disembarkation were quick and smooth. Royal cancelled our booking after it had been paid in full and in a scramble to get rebooked we ended up in a smaller cabin on deck 3 instead of 8. Most staff were quite good. Room attendants, dining room, windjammer and bar staff were all great. Guest services/Crown and Anchor support was not at it's best. We received incorrect paperwork several times and did not receive Crown and Anchor info despite my being a Diamond member. Cleanliness was poor. Handrails in particular were very dirty and no cleaning staff were ever seen. The ports were great and the 2 excursions I booked were very good. The food was good although it has been better on other ships. Breakfast in the Windjammer was excellent. The Park Cafe was good but not up to the standards of other ships. The roast beef sandwiches were good after you picked out the fat that made up half the sandwich. We went to Izumi's and Giovanni's and both were great. The Solarium was nice, the entertainment was good, the cruise director and his staff were good. We had originally booked early dining and it had been confirmed but after the unexpected cancellation we could only get late dining which we were not happy about. There was also no early sitting in My Time available so we had to eat late or go to the Windjammer. At least we had a good table and great staff. My travel agent sent a bottle of wine and what we got was non-alcoholic. She confirmed with me that she had not ordered non-alcoholic. We went to Guest Services and they changed it for us. Read Less

We ended up on this cruise after an invite from family. We've cruised with RCI before and had a positive experience. This experience comparatively fell a little short. As in the past we enjoyed our stateroom attendant and our wait staff in the dining room. The food in the dining room was never less than 8/10. The service from Milos & Million was a definite 10 out of 10. We really enjoyed our excursions. We swam with stingrays in Grand Cayman, toured the Mayan ruins in Tulum near Cozumel, zip-lined and tubed through the caves in Belize (amazing!), and embraced our inner dork with a Segway tour in Mahahual (Costa Maya). I'm not a fan of Royal's dining room scheduling. When we initially booked the cruise 4 in our group were scheduled for late dining and 2 for early dining. Weeks before embarkation we called in to have our times coordinated under "My Time Dining". We only learned once we were on the boat that this change never happened. Instead of making the customer happy and changing all 6 of us to my time dining, the dining room scheduler fought with us just about every night over when we could eat. It became a joke in our group that the scheduler hated us. She was never friendly and seemed to enjoy saying no. We were disappointed more than once when we thought we could get a late evening ice cream cone from the soft serve machines on Deck 9. They shut them down around 9 pm. Dumb! The Casino Royale was a flop. It was so infested by glazed over, leather skinned zombie smokers. Being a small area with poor ventilation made it impossible to stay in for long unless you want lung cancer. The smell also permeated through the rest of Deck 5. The food in the Windjammer was meh. Food quality is better at just about any other buffet. Don't go to the snack bar in the Solarium. Nasty. We really enjoyed our vacation because of the excursions. I was disappointed in the cruise ship. We will definitely cruise again but it will most likely be with another company. Read Less

A cruise is what you make it. We are diamond plus and cruise about 5-6 times a year while the ships are in Tampa. This last cruise we were upgraded to a suite. Something we didn't expect so I'll start with cabin review. Normally we book a rear facing balcony but the suite topped even our favorite balcony room. What can you say about a large balcony about twice the size of a regular balcony, a bathroom as large as many people have in their homes. The storage was more than excessive. A triple closet, shelves and draws we never used, a real king size bed, a bar, big screen TV, full size couch and a great cabin steward. There was a slight glitch with this upgrade. We were not told about the upgrade until after we checked in. Even the staff on the pier was confused. They told us there were 2 different guests assigned to the cabin we booked. So we went to the front desk and found out we had been upgraded. Surprise! The down side was we had no idea and also had to hunt for our luggage, but can't complain, we found our luggage on the 7th deck where our original cabin was booked, no big deal. Next time we hope they tell us in advance. Aside from this issue the check in was smooth and took about 20 minutes. Debarkation was smooth, just a heads up. RC is using terminal 6 which is very small. If you leave the ship before your luggage number is called you won't find your luggage and will have to stand in the luggage area until your bags are delivered. Best to wait on the ship at least you'd have a place to sit while waiting. The ship is in very good shape and the staff works hard to keep it clean. The staff was very friendly and can't say enough about everyone we met, well one exception, was a cranky young man working in the solarium serving food in the morning. Guess he was just having a bad day,oh well it didn't ruin my day. We ate most of our meals in the Windjammer. There was lots to choose from and most of the food was very good. The staff was friendly and they cleared the tables quickly. The Windjammer was kept very clean. There were a couple of good bands but unfortunately the solarium where the bands played would sometimes be very crowded making it difficult to dance. Worse they would interrupt the music/dancing to play games? Can't figure that out at all. But we bring our own music with us and when it's crowded we head to the shall we dance lounge in the back of the ship. A great dance floor that is seldom used. We can usually get 3-4 hours of dancing in every night there. Nice to have a dance floor that never gets crowded. On the last night of the cruise a large group joined us in the shall we dance area. They brought their Latin music and we had a great time dancing with them and picking up some salsa tips. What a blast. Like I said a cruise is what you make it. Like all cruises you can be as busy as you like or you can find a place just to chill. Having been to the ports many times we decided not to leave the ship this time. But I do suggest to anyone who hasn't been to these places take advantage of the tours and if you shop, stick to the RC approved stores if you are buying anything expensive. Have fun. Read Less

I chose the cruise solely on cruise destinations. The cruise started in Tampa FL. which was a good location for departure. My wife and I purchased the Unlimited Drink Package and I had three scuba diving excursions purchased. Boarding the ship was a breeze and the staff were friendly. I checked into the excursion desk to find out, that one of my excursions was cancelled and I was to receive a refund. Ok, so the Entertainment Director states that there is lots of scuba diving activities to do in Belize but, there are no excursions offered by the ship for them. I was able to make an excursion on my own once I was in Belize to scuba dive. ( Staff on board the ship recommends not to make your own excursions. Because if your late getting back to the ship, it's your dime) Second day into the cruise, I raised the issue at the Guest service desk that the king size bed was too hard and I was not sleeping. They alerted housekeeping and another single pad was provided under the sheets. That Did Not Fix the issue. Ok so my wife and I go the rest of the cruise with no sleep or relaxation in our cabin. I said we had the unlimited drinking package, but I couldn't get two cups of coffee from the coffee shop in the morning unless I presented to sea passes. Background info, in the morning I get coffee for my wife while she is still in bed. Some bartenders would give an extra shot of alcohol when requested and some would not. Come back in 5 minutes i was told. Did I mentioned that I purchased the UNLIMITED DRINK PACKAGE! Some bartenders knew how to make a simple drink on the ship and others did not. ie.MasterCard a drink served all over the ship. I'll stop here, because I can go on. The ports of call were great. The dining staff was superb and the food was better than average. Overall, my wife and I did not relax or sleep, so now we have to take another vacation to relax and catch up on our sleep. Read Less

Friends told me about this line. It was a good call. To say it was luxurious would be spot on. Very clean and a fantastic staff. A little disappointed about Georgetown and Belize. Georgetown was like going to an outlet mall. I didn’t take any shore excursions because I wanted to get a feel for the town and it’s people. There wasn’t much to see or do other than shop. Lacked a sense of authenticity. Belize was just too long of a tender ride. Didn’t feel like a 30 minute ride one way. I really liked Cozumel and Costa Maya. Nice compounds and easy access to towns. Felt safe walking around (I’m seventy) and rides to town were reasonably priced. The boat experience made it all worthwhile. Pools were very clean and not crowded. Steam and sauna was meticulous and delightful. Dining experience was always a total pleasure (other than I overate). I really felt the boat experience made it all worthwhile. The staff was so pleasant it made me wish our society could be so committed to treating each other that way. Read Less

I am a Diamond Plus member and have been on many cruises. Not much to say except we went on this cruise because of price. Fixtures and such were outdated. We had a cabin on Deck three near the elevators and we could hear the entertainment going on on deck 4 to well after midnight. cabin was ok for the price, again fixtures and such were outdated. If I were to do again I would get a balcony as I usually do on cruises And stay away from the Centrum area. we went on a tour of the bridge, very interesting! Dining in main dining room at 5:30 pm was excellent, as well as the service in it. The windjammer was ok, the food wasn't as good as the dining room, but was good. We were tendered to two of the ports Grand Cayman & Belize. Belize was over a 5 mile ride! In Costa Maya we took a non-Royal Caribbean tour to Maya Chan, a little beach resort and had an excellent time there. Transportation, free drinks and food, paddleboards, kayaks, beach chairs, floats. Servers wading out into the water to bring you drinks! all for $50.00 ea. We didn't go on any other shore excursions, because we have been on many similar ones in the past. We just did a little shopping in each port.(some deals can be found). I myself didn't go to any shows. All in all I guess sometimes you get what you pay for. Read Less

We chose this cruise because our family usually does a family vacation in the summer and couldn't this year. So, we chose to cruise at this time of year so family could be free, and the location of cruise. The experience was very good; cabin was comfortable, always clean and maintained excellently by our porter. Dining was a good experience, of course. We had no problem finding food we liked and the waiters were always available to help with whatever was needed. We didn't partake of all the activities. Did a couple evening shows and one shore excursion. For me, sometimes there is too much "rah rah" as I enjoy more of a relaxed experience. So, I found spaces where I could have that easily and where we as a family could play games. Not a problem. Others seemed to be enjoying the activities which seemed very creative. Embarkation and disembarkation was very smooth. Great organization in this process. We don't have expectations to take another cruise. It is not my favorite type of vacation. I find myself getting bored a bit because I don't especially enjoy many of the typical cruise activities. I would have enjoyed having speakers talk about the ports of call.....culture, history, customs, etc. rather than just the shopping opportunities. We thoroughly enjoyed going to the museum on Grand Cayman as it gave us a feel for the area. Likewise, we took the shuttle to town on Costa Maya and all of us enjoyed that much better than the area just off the ship which was way too commercialized. Town was more real and not commercialized as much. Still, overall, we were very pleased with the entire cruise. Thanks for the opportunity to provide feedback. Pleasing so many people with different preferences is impossible to do. One final thought. I saw that all the ship's crew were working very hard to make the experience a good one for people. They were always friendly and pleasant. I had 3 of them tell me that we would get this opportunity to evaluate the cruise. They seemed to feel pressure that they be mentioned by name in the evaluation in order for them to be rewarded for their hard work. I personally believe this is a misguided practice, if their reward is based on having their names mentioned, because they all seemed to be working very hard. It would be discouraging if they worked hard and just because people, like me, might not know all the names and didn't specifically mention them. Read Less

We have always used Royal Caribbean as our cruise vendor. For the most part we are very satisfied. On this cruise our dinner wait staff and our stateroom attendant were fantastic. The quality of the food in the dining room has declined somewhat and they have turned the breakfast and lunch dining room experience into a buffet. Yes you can still order off the menu for breakfast and lunch, but when half your table chooses the buffet the experience deteriorates to the Windjammer level. Only with fewer choices. I have never been on a cruise where it was hard to buy a drink. Until now. The bar service, especially in the Viking Crown, was consistently poor. Often left without getting a drink. They were never busy and yet you would sit there for 20 minutes and either never see or could not find a server at 8:30 pm at night or they would just ignore you. The most common word I overheard from other passengers about their experience was that it was "boring" or a "little boring". Overall we enjoyed the experience simply because we were able to get away from the cold, not because of anything that Royal Caribbean did that was outstanding. Read Less
