I have traveled on 25+ cruises and this was my 5th Royal Caribbean cruise. Overall this was a nice trip. The crew and staff are incredibly professional and easy to work with as is the case with most cruises. The food is good with a fair amount of variety. The entertainment on this ship was probably the best I have seen. It is not a HUGE ship by todays standards (thats not a bad thing) and it does offer a decent amount of things to do while at sea. The only negative things I can say about the cruise would be I'm not a huge fan of having the passengers serve themselves buffet style in the windjammer due to health concerns. I also felt at times felt like everyone was trying to sell me something. It was almost like the crew had a sales quota to reach. I will continue to sail RCI and would even cruise this ship again. This is a smaller, older ship but it was in great condition and very clean. The ship almost never felt crowded and finding seats on deck, solarium, and in the theater was never a problem. really not much to complain about...but I'll try. First. The coffee is undrinkable. Don't even try. I can't imagine what Royal is thinking. Worse than Chuck full of Nutts bad! Go to the Latitudes on deck six for something drinkable. Second, drink service is almost non-existent. You'll be fetching a lot of your own drinks thanks to the sale of the drink packages, Royal doesn't make anymore than a token effort to serve you. We ate in the Specialty Restaurants each night with the Ultimate Dining Package which was OK but there is only three of these Restaurants on board so you have to double up and I could have used more selection. I wish we had stuck with the Main Dining room. I also was annoyed by the additional tip line on the Specialty receipts. I don't like to be made to feel cheap after already paying the 18% gratuity. The shows were good. Enjoyed the Production Shows, the magician and the comedians. Cabin was fine, elevators worked fine and weren't too crowded. Everything is close by on this smaller ship so it was convenient for me as I was nursing a bad foot. If you are looking for lots of on board sports and activities you might want to find a bigger ship. I was looking to relax and this ship was great for that. We were last on the Oasis and I enjoyed this one just as much. Hope this helps and Happy Cruising!! Read Less

I won't write about ports, simply because those that I disembarked on, I didn't leave the port area. Just drank and returned to the ship. The ship itself is aging...But, for 20 years old, looks terrific, backed with a terrific staff that blends with a great harmony throughout. I didn't eat in the MDR at all throughout the 7-nights. The breakfast buffet had decent choices everyday with something for everyone. Lunch changed it up daily, again, something for everyone. What I noticed, the food was hot. In past, this seemed to be lacking. Now, at times you still are wondering exactly what the meat is or what part of the friend chicken did the fried chicken come from, a result of profits, is all I can say. The staff, always friendly in the buffet. Dinner at Chop's and Giovanni's was terrific, as was the serving staff. Stay away from restaurants on day one, if you can and reserve a 5:45 from then on out, if you want a window for two. Izumi shot to the top, in our opinion. Best view, deck twelve, aft. I would tell you to try that one first, you may be surprised. It doesn't book like the others. You'll be able to eliminate some of the patting on one's back that you often hear. Casino slots played miserable the whole cruise. But, the host Bo, the bartenders and the servers were all fantastic. It now takes 2400 points to receive the inside cabin. We were disappointed in the selection of cruise choices, after we received the certificate. But, again, it is what is and I'm sure we'll use it. After all, we "paid" for it. Cabin 7565, inside, no problems, centrally located about 100 feet to centrum elevators. Quiet all hours and Helena was spot on in cleaning it. Plenty of closet space. We had no children would do it again in a second. Oftentimes I'll say I wish there were different ports, truth be told, I don't cruise anymore for the ports. At least in the Gulf/Caribbean. As Crown & Anchor, if you are diamond and above, you'll benefit with your lounge. I'll disclose that I have been on about 50 cruises, if this assists you. Read Less

16 friends cruised together just to get together and enjoy the ship and ports. Rhapsody is a smaller ship and we enjoyed not having to hike long distances to get to different venues. Yes, the ship is older and not as classy as others but that did not detract from great service, comfortable rooms and friendliness of the entire staff. We are veteran cruisers and felt that the staff on this cruise was the friendliest we have ever encountered. I have read mixed reviews of the food and have to say we were all satisfied, but then again, we are not "foodies". The entertainment was good: the RC dancers and singers were fun to watch, the magician (and I usually don't like magicians) was down right funny and had us scratching our head how he did things, the comedian kept us chuckling. One entertainer who did vocal impressions was the only show we did not care for,. Read Less

A cruise is what you make it. I can't understand why some people would want to ruin their vacation by arguing or looking for problems. There are a couple of things people might want to do to make their cruise more fun. Leave your politics and bad attitude at home. You're on vacation so relax. Nothing is perfect, so overlook the small stuff. Sure there are some problems that need to be addressed. I've always found the staff willing to do everything they can to resolve a problem, but do yourself a favor and be polite to them. They work hard and you'll get better service. OK enough of that. Now, how to resolve the rock hard bed. We pack thin air mattresses and a small foot pump to inflate them. We found a very thin air mattress on Amazon. They don't take up much room in our luggage but boy what a difference. Just pump them up slip them under the sheets and wa la problem solved. RC is now using terminal 6. For those who haven't used it, it is very small. Expect to wait outside in a line if you are unfortunate enough to arrive when it is busy. Once inside you'll move quickly though check in. Keep in mind during debarkation they can only put a limited number of luggage in the terminal. If you leave the ship before your number is called you will not find your luggage and will have to stand until your luggage arrives. So do yourself a favor, stay on the ship until your luggage number is called, it will be a lot more comfortable. We like to eat our meals in the Windjammer rather than tying up about 2 house in the main dinning room. But I have friends who are foodies and they tell us the MD food can be average to very good. They also dine at the specialty restaurants from time to time and rate them very highly, but you'll pay extra for that. The service and staff in the WJ is top notch. The food is good and the staff keeps the area very clean. There is always work being done on the ship but overall the condition is good. The ship is kept very clean and the staff works hard to keep it that way. If you like dancing or just like to watch and listen you'll find an excellent variety of music. The bands a great. You'll also find lots of day and night activities. Something for everyone. I have read reviews where people complain that there isn't enough to do. We have never found this to be the case. Remember this is a small ship so you will not find the same kinds of activities as on the larger ships. We found the staff/crew to be excellent. Very friendly Our stateroom attendant made shore we had everything we asked for. keep in mind if you like to have ice in your room you'll need to ask for it. We bring our own personal items, but again, all you need do is ask and you'll get them. We didn't take any tours but I always suggest to anyone new to cruising to take the ship sponsored tours. They cost more but they will take you to the best places and are the safest. If you going to arrange your own tours try to stay in groups for safety. Although most paces are safe remember these are foreign countries and if something goes wrong it can really go wrong. So stay safe. Have fun. Read Less

We choose this cruse for the ports mainly, but also wanted to see how the smaller ships were. This was the smallest ship we have ever been on. I loved how easy it was to get from one side of the ship to the other! We have been on the larger ships like the Oasis and the Allure which definitely have a lot to offer, but to go from dinner to a show at night is a trek across the whole ship. I also really liked that because it was a smaller ship, there were no lines everywhere! Our cabin was very comfortable, food was good (although maybe not as good as the bigger ships), and the service was great as per usual with Royal Caribbean. The entertainment was good, the comedians were funny, but the production shows were not as good as the ones on the larger ships, but better than other cruse lines. Read Less

I am a Diamond member on RCCL and usually have a wonderful experience but this was not the best cruise of my life. We found the music so loud in the Centrum that we were not able to converse with our friends on any of the open decks surrounding the centrum or talk with the people at the Shore Excursion Desk or Guest Relations. Also at the check in at the pier in Tampa after we had completed our check in papers the guy that checked us in just wanted to update one little thing and then changed my name and status to a completely different person. Once onboard I had to go to the Loyalty desk to get straightened out who I was and also then to the Guest Relations to get a whole new card. In this mess I lost out on all of my Diamond Status benefits. This was a first for me. We had rough seas and missed Grand Cayman completely and our excursion in Belize was cancelled and changed to just a city tour because of the amount of the rain they had there. This was done very quickly. The Spirits of the Staff was high and this would not stop me from booking another RCCL cruise though. Also found there to be a shortage of plugs in the balcony cabin. Read Less

To be honest, we took this cruise to get the last 7 days of sailing to achieve Diamond member status in the Crown and Anchor Society. Departing from Tampa was convenient and allowed us to visit family members nearby. The mission was to rest and relax and we achieved it! We had not been to Belize or Costa Maya before and thought it would be fun to see different western Caribbean ports. Weather preempted our tendering into Grand Cayman where we were scheduled for a shore excursion. RCCL promptly refunded not only the fee for the tour but also the port fees and taxes! Cozumel was definitely THE BEST shopping port on our itinerary. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and created a very pleasant atmosphere. Cruise singers and dancers were very good, but the mediocre "canned" shows didn't do them justice. Sound mixing was poor as the orchestration drowned out the singing. Other on board bands/talent were good and the specialty acts (comedians & hypnotist) were the best! Time to come up with some new gameshow ideas... Food was okay but "over sauced". However, fresh salad greens in the Windjammer (buffet) and overall smaller portion sizes in the dining room were greatly appreciated! We don't plan on doing this itinerary again but only because we've done variations of it before. Royal Caribbean is still our go to cruise line! Read Less
