It was a rocky start. Two months before the start of the river cruise, we received in the mail a personalized brochure from Viking, giving us a day-by-day breakdown of the schedule, excursions, ship information, etc. It noted that at the start of the cruise in Basel, the ship could be departing from any of three different locations. Seeing as how there still were two months ...
Chose this cruise because it took us to places we hadn't been, except for taking a 2 hrs cruise on the middle Rhine a couple years back. But didn't mind because the vineyards and castle area is beautiful. Excursions included in the cruise were very good. Took the two wine tasting excursions as extras but disappointed with the one. Dinner was included and the food was just ok, had better food on ...
The Staff was beyond excellent and very understanding..my husband has Alzheimer’s and can be difficult with drinking..I alerted the Bartender and he made sure my husbands drinks were very weak and they kept a tab on how many he had..
The staff also kept an eye out for him ..
This was very nice it made for a more relaxing trip..
The food was beyond excellent very good choices everyday and ...
This trip was for our anniversary that we were not sure we would make as my husband has cancer. This was also our first River Cruises. We so happy with not only the service and the accommodation but more than anything the Crew. The Program Director Candi and her team were fantastic everything from the organization of the excursion to the entertainment. The shore excursions, we great and the ...
We have travelled with Viking River and Ocean cruises and have travelled the Rhine, the Danube on our river cruises and the Caribbean and the North Sea on our ocean cruises. The city's and the hotels chosen by Viking Cruise Lines for us to extend our trips after the cruise are excellent. The level of service and attention to detail by all of the onboard staff is wonderful. We enjoyed the ...
I had wanted to do a Viking River Cruise for many years. I would get those booklets in the mail all the time. My husband and I finally went last June. I chose June for the weather and the condition of the Rhine River in June is best. The boats don't look like much from the outside, but, inside they are beautifully well built. Our room was spacious enough with a balcony. It was very clean and ...
Rhine & Viking Shores & Fjords (Basel to Bergen)
We planned our three week trip exclusively through Viking Cruises using AAA as our agent, and took the afore mentioned vacation May 29 - June 16.
Our flights were purchased through Viking Air and we flew United out and IcelandAir home.
We booked a pre extension to Lake Como for three days, we stayed at the Lake Como Sheraton hotel. Our ...
Got a cabin cancellation three weeks out, seemed like a good deal. Cabin 119 with just a small window was fine. Viking did an outstanding job, everything exceeded my expectations, this was our first river cruise and our first visit to central Europe. Candi, the cruise director was extremely organized, loved the QuietVOX RF receiver/headphone system. We only did included excursions which we ...
We had heard wonderful things from friends last fall about the Viking cruises so we decided to give it a try.
Our trip did not disappoint us!
The staff was wonderful. Ensuring that your every need was taken care of. The detail that was done for you made the trip truly a vacation.
The food on the ship was always delicious with a wonderful presentation.
The scenery along the Rhine was ...
We lead such a busy, stressful life.
We wanted a trip that was safe with every detail planned for us.
We wanted to eat food indicative of the country we were in. Viking’s food and wine were amazing. Every meal had several options. One evening we ate in Germany with German, beer, meats, cheese served by German servers in clothing from that town.
Every city was better than the next.
We ...
