Swiss Alps to Paris
Had a wonderful trip across four countries on two different European rivers. DH and I sailed past beautiful castles, visited incredible churches, several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and enjoyed good food onboard and on our own. We experienced a lively wine tasting, visited an historic castle, had the Gutenberg Museum opened for a brief visit just for Viking passengers, went ...
We never really wanted to hit the "high seas" out in the middle of the Pacific (or even the Atlantic). But when River Cruises started to catch our attention, our interest was piqued -- a lot!
It took a couple of years of receiving Viking's catalogs before we took the plunge, so to speak. I loved looking at the photos and itineraries. When they began to send "black Friday" emails, I sat up. ...
Everything was great from the time my wife and i were picked up from the airport upon arrival to being dropped off at the airport upon departure. We even got a call by a Viking representative who wanted to make sure we arrived at the airport ok for our flight. The hotels provided by Viking were top notch and there was always some one there from Viking to give advise on touring the city before the ...
We wanted to see Budapest and this cruise fit our bill. The Viking rep was so helpful she put us in the same room as our last cruise so my husband who has dementia would be familiar with the rooms location. The cabin(veranda) is big enough since we do not spend a lot of time there. My husband loves the shower gel and shampoo, and our room steward was so helpful with making sure she put all his ...
The intimate size, excursions, and ports of call were all second to none. Viking's reputation was excellent. Every detail was organized like an elegant ballet! The food was exceptional, at every meal, and diverse! The staff could not have been more attentive, and professional at all times and gave personal one-to-one attention. The cabin exceeded our expectations. Very roomy, the bed was ...
Wanted a small ship experience and liked the route this one took. Unfortunately the weather on our trip was atrocious. We had maybe 5 hours of sun during the entire time. Not only rainy, but very cold and windy. We were prepared for temperatures in the 50's but not this. Of course this was not Viking's fault but it put a damper on all the excursions. As far as excursions, the ones that ...
Originally chose this cruise based on the itinerary. I had never cruised with Viking before, but I have cruised with other companies.
Quick rundown: Wine, beer, and soda included with lunch and dinner, excellent regional dishes as well as foods that are always available. You can bring alcohol on board and they will open and serve it for you without charging you to do so. On land, there is ...
We chose this cruise because we liked the itinerary and felt that a twelve day trip would be a good length of time to enjoy the many places we visited. We also added two nights in Paris to continue our experience. It turned out to be the right choice for us; we felt it was a perfect length of time for our first long ship cruise.
Viking surpassed our expectations with their service and ...
We specifically chose it because it was originally advertised as a Christmas Market Tour for 12/2020. After 2 Covid related cancellations we finally went this month. No longer advertised as a CMT, but itinerary was the same. It was absolutely amazing. A couple of issues with 2 tour guides and one day of dirty bus windows, but that was minor compared to the wonderful service, activities, Christmas ...
This was a great cruise that hit the highlights, allowed a good amount of free time and the ability to see many Christmas markets. Europe during the holidays has a magical charm. Viking provided 5-star service from start to finish. The cabin was well kept and always clean. The staff of the Viking Alsvin were at the end of their tour year but you would have thought it was early in the year. They ...
