Just returned from the 14 day canary island cruise on Britannia. I am sorry to say it was the worst cruise I have ever been on culminating in four days of food poisoning. The ship is dirty and run down, there are stains on the carpets almost everywhere you look and the food in the Peninsula restaurant was bland, tasteless and repetitive. Our cabin was small and in common with the rest of the ship, ...
The greatest disappointment was the food which was universally poor and sometimes inedible. Even the specialist (££) restaurants did not have the highest standards.
We had splashed out on a suite and expected a bit of pampering but other than priority boarding and a couple of cabin gifts we got nothing (£20 for drinks with the Officers? £20pp per day to use the private Retreat deck? £30pp for ...
We did the back to back to the Baltic followed by the trip to Norway. Overall we sailed 3 weeks and had a great time! We are Dutch and prefer PO above AIDA, MSC and Holland America Line.
On boarding:
Went very very fast, in 20 minutes we were already on board. As we arrived 4 hours later after the Norwegian cruise, a lot of people including us, all wanted to leave the same time with their ...
Went on Britannia for 14 nights from Southampton. Embarkation was very well organised and smooth,we had a balcony cabin with walk in shower.the food and service was excellent in the MDR but a bit chaotic in the self service buffet. The entertainment was good and so was the select restaurants.we did have a bit of a scare when we were hit by a mini hurricane and the ship broke loose from its ...

Britannia 4th-18th August 2023 – Cruise B320
Experienced cruises across many lines, third cruise on Britannia
The omens weren’t good when we discovered that Britannia was an hour late docking at Southampton. However, boarding was smooth and our luggage was waiting for as at our cabin, deck 10 midships, a grade HA balcony cabin. We sailed on time and at speed to outrun ...
Like most people on board Britannia we really enjoyed the 14 night Mediterranean cruise.
Yes, it was in school holidays and yes it was busy but that had no negative impacts. Maybe if we wanted to spend each day next to the pools we may have been out of luck. However, as two adults simply wanting to enjoy the ship and the Med sunshine we never had a problem finding a spot to sit, be it in ...
The Britannia is a really nice ship with nice things on board. We really enjoyed it on this cruise but there were a few things that could have been made better. The Buffet on this ship has two main buffet stations that are quite big but usually only one of them is used. the only problem with the buffet is the layout of the food. Ice cream next to pasta? Sausages next to salad?!?!?!?!?!? Because of ...
We chose this cruise because of the itinerary to the Mediterranean and possibility to do this in summer holiday period. We love to sail from Southampton because of its variety of destinations (last year we did cruise from Southampton to Iceland and Greenland with Princess)
Embarkation same as the disembarkation went very smoothly no comments there.
The fellow passengers were as you would ...
Chose this ship after going on Iona which was OK but Brittania is by far the worst ship I have ever had the misfortune of being on. Bad attitude from many crew members but the worst part is the food. Low quality slop served every day which is more than disappointing. If you want a nice cruise with good quality food give this ship a very wide bearth. Disgusting food every day. Tasteless desserts, ...
I chose this cruise after sailing on P & O Iona. The ship was nice and the food was acceptable. Unfortunately I believed the standard of the food would the same in Brittania. How wrong I was! The same pre-prepared slop was served up almost daily. There was hardly any fresh fruit and no tempting displays of any sort of food which was very repetitive. I have no criticism of my balcony cabin however ...
