By Far my most enjoyable family cruise. Our room attendant was fantastic, the food attendants in the Windjammer were on top of the food, cleanliness and drink service. The variety of foods to choose from was very good. I think the only complaint I heard from my group was BBQ was not always available, and a bit of dryer chicken here and there. Several nights there were extra servings of Soups & deserts like the warm chocolate and banana strudell MMMM MMM. Lots of variety of activities available and something for all ages. I thoroughly enjoyed the mini-golf together with my daughter and as it is available 24 hours, we could putt through at out own pace without holding anybody up, which is great as I am usually on O2, so I slipped it off to be a bit more free (but slower) to play. Embarkation was quick and easy as I am priority assisted and disembarkation was an absolute breeze! The quickest EVER to pick up our bags on Tuesday and go through customs etc. we were off the ship and in our car by 9am! :) I was lucky enough to celebrate my birthday on board and my husband found it very easy to organise a special touch to celebrate it at dinner. The chocolate cake was moist enough to me to be a mud cake with like a layer of gnache of some sort chilled in a layer in it. The entertainment at night was varied and as I had seen a few shows opted to try for a few different things like the quizz's, watching karioke and the casino. The Magician Comedien Nick Nikolas was awesome and performed on 2 nights. Read Less

We went on this ship in January 2016 and decided to give it one last go - and just like the first ship was not disappointed. To those people that want to complain about the small stuff the entertainment in the centrum was sensational - the dinner in the main Restaurant was very good - DO NOT COMPARE THIS SHIP TO PRINCESS ETC AS IT IS UNIQUE WITHIN ITSELF - IT IS ONLY 31/2 TO 4 STARS SO LIVE WITH IT - The crew were super friendly from our cabin steward to the waiters to the bar staff Speaking of bar staff they were fantastic all round and yes sometimes we had to wait 2 minutes or so but where else were we going - to those complaining take a chill pill Of ALL the cruise ships we have been on from p&o to Princess to RC to HA this is by far our favorite ship - to me 5 stars all round Read Less

I was so looking forward to finally cruising with Royal Caribbean, I had been wanting to go for so long and was really looking forward to it, so when we saw a 3 night weekend cruise we jumped at the chance. I travelled with my mother (her first cruise), sister and a group of friends and their mothers. I'll start with the positives....embarkation in Brisbane was seamless and we were enjoying lunch in the Windjammer by midday. Staff in both the Windjammer and the Romeo & Juliet Dining room were very friendly and helpful, service was what I'd expect based on other cruises I've done with P&O. The food in the Windjammer was mostly good, I am not a huge fan of buffets usually but we found this the easiest option for such a short cruise. The food in the dining room was also quite good, although I'd have to say some dishes were slightly below par compared to meals I've had on P&O. We dined in Chops Grille one night which was excellent (but of course you pay extra for that so it would want to be). Our cabin was always very clean and so were public areas, toilets etc. Housekeeping staff work very hard on these cruises and deserve their tips. The Ab-Fab show was fairly good and we all enjoyed that. Unfortunately though the negatives outweigh the positives. Our biggest disappointment of all was the Ultimate Drinks package we purchased prior to the cruise. We paid $67USD per day for unlimited beer, wine, spirits, cocktails under $12, soft drinks, juices, tea, coffee etc. My friends and I enjoy a cocktail or two and figured this would probably be the way to go. Not only was the variety & quality of cocktails disappointing, the service in ALL bars was simply appalling. Incredibly slow and took forever to get served! Waiters would slowly wipe down tables and bench tops before casually serving the next passenger, it was so obvious this was deliberate. There was no sense of urgency or rushing whatsoever, even when the bar was crowded. They simply did not seem to care and we all felt this was a blatant attempt by RC to limit the value passengers received out of purchasing these packages. It was disgusting really and false advertising at its worst. I have been on 2 other cruises with P&O and the bar service on both was simply outstanding. This was a joke, and so many people we spoke to were complaining about it. Furthermore, we had pre-paid our gratuities and felt this was a huge mistake but there was nothing we could do about it. Someone onboard told us Australians have a reputation for refusing to tip (which definitely seems to be the case), so I understand why they offer this service and they also automatically add it to everyones sea pass who hasn't prepaid them, but I feel this policy has contributed to a huge drop in quality of service onboard. We really didn't partake in a lot of the entertainment options as this was just a weekend cruise and our plan was to sit poolside with a book and a cocktail (thankfully we were blessed with perfect weather to be able to do this). A couple of us went to bingo but even that was disappointing - bingo cards were incredibly expensive, and the young girl who called the numbers was SO SLOW and dragged the whole process out unnecessarily. Its like the Americans have to dramatise and draw everything out - we were so frustrated after the first game and so many were telling her to just get on with it!! We all had early dinner reservations and were worried we'd have to leave before all the cards were finished. My husband and I are booked on a weekend cruise on the Ovation of the Seas next year, however I am seriously considering cancelling because of the disappointing service we received on Legend of the Seas. Some staff we encountered were very friendly and efficient, but a lot just didn't impress. Perhaps we have been spoiled on previous cruises, but all in all I felt this wasn't great value at all. Although we had a wonderful weekend away with family and friends and it really was the company of good people that made it such a memorable getaway, there were definitely some big niggles that although I don't want to focus on and draw a negative aspect to our trip, I feel are worth mentioning to fellow cruisers. chose a panoramic suite for its size - 220 sq.ft My wife requires a walker for mobility and when beds are apart cannot get walker all the way into the room cabin 7553 is about 170 and when compared to 7057, 7553 is about 2.5 ft. narrower. A hell of a lot of space. We were charged the same amount as suite 7057 which was occupied by my sister-in-law and her daughter. There were no pool deck bbqs. or lunches There were no aerial shows although all the equipment was there. 1 lift stuck on level 8 for the last 3 days of the cruise. top tier event held on 8th night out of 11 night cruise all staff were excellent though short staffed. The dining room waiters were excellent. Our table waiters made coming to the dining room an adventure. Overheard that the main room dining were down to 3 chefs on each floor. Will not travel again with RCI Read Less

Chose this cruise as she, The Legend of the Seas has been sold and as a loyal RCL cruiser I could let her go without a farewell cruise. I am fortunate enough to have sailed on this ship before and to have the opportunity to sail on her once more before she is passed over as she has been sold. I have noted that there are some changes since my last cruise just under a year ago. I am going to miss having the lovey Legend of the Seas coming out of Brisbane as I note RCL have not as yet replaced her with another ship. I do hope they have another ship, perhaps the Radiance lined up to replace her in Brisbane There are a lot of Queensland cruisers who are don’t want to see RCL leave or have P&O dominate that market. Embarkation – Easy, fast, effective and efficient. No more huge lines, once you have checked in you only need to have your sea pass card with you to board. Remember to bring a lanyard with you for ease of use. The sea pass card is your room key and your folio – your account for payment purposes. There are lifts at the terminal for those with mobility issues. Crown and Anchor members can board at any time from 11am onwards, the terminal now allows access to those passengers who arrive early and get out of the heat and sun, which is a vast improvement on last year where passengers were turned away. Well done RCL and port staff, this is one area where you most definitely improved. Guest Services – Level 5, they can assist you with folio enquiries, cash exchange, and power adaptors. Remember RCL are US based ships, they use US ports so be prepared prior to embarkation. The centrum shops also sell most items that passengers tend to forget such as toothbrushes etc. So don’t panic if you have forgotten an essential, RCL have thought this through for you. All the staff I have found to be very knowledgeable and will ensure your questions are answered. I have seen many previous posts about lack of service in this area; I can assure you this is most certainly not the case, quite the contrary. Whilst not every aspect of your cruise can ever be 100% perfect, please do not winge to them that you want a window for you’re inside balcony or put unrealistic demands on staff. They are a great team who go out of their way to help, they are not rocket scientists and cannot perform miracles however in my book they give 10/10, hats off to them. Amenities – Gym, relaxation area, pools, spa, public rooms etc. all immaculate. The gym is rather small however there is also a running track for those of us who wish to try to burn the calories off. There are lots of sun loungers and more than adequate seats in all areas of the ship. Staff at the pool area however will address children being in the adult’s only area or the gym. Why people think they can bring their children into those areas astounds me. Adults mean just that for reasons of liability, injury etc., sorry but for those people who think they paid for the right to do what they like, no you cant!! Those areas are designated for those of us who wish to have adult only conversations and relax without little ears listening. Well done the staff in these areas for enforcing the rules for the enjoyment of all the passengers. Concierge Club/Diamond Club – I have had the privilege of having access to these areas. Christopher Dhookit Concierge is outstanding. He truly loves his job and it shows, nothing and I mean nothing upsets or ruffles his feathers. He is a professional, diligent and really wants you to have the best vacation ever. The club is located on Deck 9 midships. Please refer to your folder in your stateroom for what is included with your accommodation. Christopher ensures that this is updated daily in collaboration with you state rooms attendant. Christopher will assist you with any reservations whilst on board and he is also on hand on at departure port side level 5 to ensure a safe and speedy disembarkation for his guests. RCL this employee definitely surpasses the WOW factor. Twice now I have had concierge access and the service and attention to detail is superb. Rooms - Inside - Having the benefit of seeing both inside and Royal Family Suite I most certainly can comment on both. Some friends were on board with inside cabins; they are spacious, clean, neat and tidy. In fact my friends said they couldn’t fill the cupboards. Shower has a curtain, which I find preferable as they wash down, or replace when needed easily. Royal Family Suite – I highly recommend this suite, please see cabin review if you are thinking of booking it, well worth it. Stateroom Attendant Barretto Brixson, excellent in all aspects of his job. Dining – I tried My Time Dining as opposed to traditional. Located on deck 4 Head Waiting staff are excellent. Now My Time is different to traditional in that you can reserve you table during certain hours advertised on your cruise compass. This can be done in person or via the internal phones. Also you can decide to just rock up and see what is available. Now please again in this area the Head Waiters are exceptional at their job. It is not easy having lots of people arriving without a booking demanding a table for their party right now. Please have some respect as I have witnessed other guests being rude to the staff here. If you don’t make a booking expect to wait and have the common courtesy to not put on a disgraceful hissy fit that others have to witness. Yes it happens every day, its embarrassing for those of us who witness it, their job is stressful, give them respect and show patience. Now traditional v My Time is a personal thing for me I will stick with traditional in future. The staff are rushed and it’s like a conveyor belt one in one out. I much prefer that the wait staff are able to chat relax a little and let you breathe between courses. Again it’s down to what you prefer. Food – The windjammer – its excellent quality, lots of variety and caters to all tastes. If you have allergies, please tell the wait staff they were so happy to help. Main dining room food, well this time for me it was average. Swings and round a bouts some good meals, some not so good. Chefs have a hard time pleasing everyone and I never went hungry. Captain/Officers - Saw lots of officers etc, never met the Captain but it was a short cruise Entertainment - Very good, the comedian was a hoot, well done ladies and gents, you most certainly can't please everyone but you all give you best. We chose the cruise for the Ports of call & arrival destination of Brisbane (our home city). Sailed from Hong Kong with stops in Manila, Puerto Princess, Kota Kinabalu, Bali, Darwin, Cairns & Airlie Beach. The ship has been sold & it felt evident during our cruise. Staterooms very dated. Food in dining room very disappointing (numerous meals sent back). We had room key issues with having to get one sea pass replaced 8 times during the journey. Wifi advertising misleading so we opted for none. Shore excursions misleading (wildlife sanctuary in Kota Kinabalu is a Zoo). Cruise arrived in most ports after 9am which meant that you couldn't book a local tour of the reef as they all depart by 9am, one staff member said they have to sail slowly because there is shopping on board. On board activities - not enough indoor - didn't improve until last 3 days. Housekeeping staff were excellent. Cruise Director - WHO? Saw the Captain more than the CD. All that said we had a lovely holiday. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the itinerary. The port experiences were as expected, quite happy with the ports ..... all first time visits except Australia. It was a very low budget cruise ..... but the cruise price wasn't!!!! Embarkation was very smooth at the Kai terminal. It is huge, the team were organized and kept the crowd moving smoothly. It was nothing like the mess we had heard of from previous cruisers. They have listened to previous reviews .... thank you for that. The cruise clientele was mixed, Australian, US, Asian, Canadian and European. A wide range of tastes to accommodate. The food was repetitive, and pretty much boring. The beef was horrible, there was more salmon served then I have ever seen. The 'used food' in the buffet had no flavor and obvious ..... last night's Yorkshire pudding, veggies, roast meats chopped, sliced etc and recooked..... tough, dry and tasteless. Small but I loved it .... there were poached eggs and hollandaise in the buffet every day. =0) Many of the staff were new, lacking training and nervous for the first few days of the cruise. No one seemed to know what they were doing. The dining service improved as the days went on. Many officers seemed to be in active clean up duty. The bar staff were all excellent. The CD team was wonderful. We really enjoyed James, Sophie and Shreta (sp), they are personable, professional and top notch. The spa offers were generous. I had my gel nails repaired, excellent service. The comedians, musicians, hypnotist, orchestra and small bands were all very good. The officer entertainment was the best! It was really nice to see the officers in events during the cruise. The dance team were good, the shows were not what we have come to expect from RCCL. The Diamond teams in both the lounge and Viking overflow and our cabin staff Okle and Ide were also excellent. The ship was in good condition. We weren't sure what this would be like considering it has been sold, delivery to happen in 2017. It was not a good example of an RCCL cruise, many first timers we met said they would not choose RCCL again. We took the Legend in 2007 to the Mexican Riviera, and it was pretty much the same. We found it very strange and interesting that it hadn’t changed. The ship won’t be available …. But not sure we would do this itinerary again. Read Less

Food inedible, staff inexperience, condition of ship old and tired. Never been offer so many pasta dishes for dinner. The cheapest food you can provide. Pasta with fake crab, chicken and tilapia. Watery oat meal, for breakfast. Fishy smelling fish for lunch, watery orange juice, and milk. For 18 days cruise we never saw lobster, and only once was offer a prime rib, unfortunately, it is so tough that it cannot be cut using a steak knife let alone edible. Why would a cruise line offer such low quality food when food cost is one of the least expansive operating cost. The offering on TV is a joke, there is only very old reruns like big bang theory, and person of interest and only ONE episode of each to be rerun for 18 days and night, really??? Other passenger who have been on this same boat only 10 months ago reported that the good was better. There is a feeling that since the ship is sold, we don't need to try and let just take the money from the passengers and give them the absolute worst and cheapest food the company can buy as the boat will no longer be associated with Royal Caribbean. This is by far the worst cruise I have been on and the worst vacation by a long shot. I feel that Royal Caribbean need to provide full refund plus damages incurred by their passengers. Read Less
