Friendly staff!

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Viking Star

This was our first cruise, and I booked it because I liked the sound of everything I read about it--the included excursions, drinks with lunch and dinner, the philosophy of the cruise being a learning experience rather than a party, paying for things up front rather than always being asked to pay more. The thing that most impressed both my husband and me were the friendly staff. Everywhere we ...

We chose this cruise on the basis of the itinerary and the price, which was too good to pass up. This was our first cruise on one of the smaller ocean cruise ships and we were delighted with Viking Star. Cruising in February, we didn't have to contend with crowds of tourists at the ports of call from other cruise ships. In fact, we were the only cruise ship in some of the ports. And the weather at ...

We selected this cruise for Vikings reputation and our desire to explore the Western Mediterranean. From the moment we stepped on board we were treated with great curtesy and everyone was so helpful. Our cabin was well appointed and so comfortable with wonderful views. The entertainment was so enthusiastic and fun to watch. We looked forward to every opportunity to attend a performance. We ...

This was my first EVER cruise (I'm 73 y/o) and I don't know how any other cruise line could have done it any better than Viking. This was a delayed honeymoon for my wife and I, although she had been on several Viking cruises in her "other life". The staff, stateroom, excursions, food, room service, were exceptional. I know one day we'll be back on a Viking cruise ship. The excursions planned ...

We were intrigued by the high ratings Viking Oceans have received on Cruise Critic and Travel and Leisure and decided to try this line for a Mediterranean Cruise for our 30th Anniversary. Overall we were extremely happy with this cruise and will definitely sail with Viking Oceans again. In the one area which we considered Viking to have "missed the boat" in providing a completely outstanding ...

We had the most wonderful experience aboard the Eastern Mediterranean cruise on the Sun about 2yrs ago. Things changed a lot in 2 years or from the East to Western Mediterranean. Almost a totally different company experience, the sad part we introduced 2 frequent travelers with a lot of cruise ship experiences and they were really disappointed probably want return on a Viking tour. First ...

Great itinerary, some excursions need improvement.

The ship crew and service staff were very friendly and proficient at their jobs. We were frustrated that we could not get seat assignments for our feturn flight on Alitalia Air until we checked in for the flight. Alitalia clearly does not value Viking's business. The Flamenco experience was cramped, and overlapped an unadvertised free performance on board. The cruise itinerary should ...

As we live in Wisconsin winter can get cold and long. This cruise provided some lovely sunny days and yes a little rain, but much better than snow and ice!! We really enjoyed the port of Monte Carlo as the ship was on the dock near the historical hill which we had never seen. The included tour of that was just what we needed and there was much activity with the changing of the guard. After ...

To visit places that I didn’t visit while living in Europe. Ship is nice, rooms a little crowded for twin beds. Only ate in the cafeteria, good choices. Don’t have to repeat the same menu each day. Didn’t dine in any of the other restaurants. Entertainment was ok. Saw a lot of them. Attended many of the lectures. Learned a lot, outstanding presenters. Didn’t use any of the activities or ...

Excellent first Viking Ocean Cruise

This was our first Viking Ocean cruise after 5 Viking River cruises, everything about the Viking Star is first class, with 900 people on the boat you never feel crowded, there are plenty of spots on the boat to relax. The food in the two specialty restaurants was outstanding, we ate at them 3 nights, 3 times in The Restaurant and ate once at the World Cafe. The World Cafe is a buffet style ...
