Great Fun on the Viking STAR!

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Viking Star

We love cruising.....our journey in February 2018 was the first one on a small ship......no casino, no big production shows......just relaxation, great ports, fun entertainment! Cabin, food, and crew are great. The Cruise Director, Jenna, is from Charlotte, so we North Carolinians had a good time with her. We've never seen a more cohesive crew. And the Captain is a hoot! So much personality! ...

How to lose weight on a cruise by Ron Cleek

As a general rule, cruises are relaxing with easy days at sea, but not the Viking Star. Instead, you are on the go to see and visit and learn so very, very much. In fact, if you want to lose weight, you go with the Viking Star where you can do what you want and eat what you want, and you still lose weight. Oh, I forgot, you have to take my Wife, please take my Wife, and she watches caloric ...

Nice first ocean cruise for me.

My wife planned our trip for our 20th anniversary. We selected this particular trip because we wanted to tour Italy afterwards. We took a Viking river cruise on the Rhine and loved it so we had high expectations for the Western Med cruise. The ship itself was beautiful, comfortable and the service was first class. Our cabin was spacious and conveniently located on the ship. Quality of ...

I have been on many cruises in many parts of the world. This ship was the most beautifully decorated and organized ship I have ever been on. The food was amazing but more importantly the service was impeccable. Our waiter, Roan was outstanding, bringing us special treats, wine. He was so good, we asked to sit at his table most nights. We selected this cruise because of it's ports (We had been ...

We loved the ambience of the ship - light Danish wood, great excursions, excellent service, great food ( esp. in the main dining area - awesome buffet)! Specialty dining rooms were ok but service not quite as top notch. We also liked the spa - good pools, hot, cold, and rippling, rooms were spacious as was bathroom. Loved heated floors. Washer/dryer facilities good too. The “included beers and ...

Not Up to River Cruise Standards

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Viking Star

The Viking Star is a fantastic ship. The entertainment is always going on somewhere on the ship. The ship's crew was helpful and pleasant. The food and service in the Specialty Restaurants is outstanding. The biggest issue was the quality of the food and service in eating areas other than the specialty restaurants. One morning for breakfast the The World Cafe the orange juice was watered down with ...

Great cruise, but below the quality of the same company’s River Cruise

We had traveled on the Viking River Cruise and were excited about trying the ocean line. The cruise was excellent. The food, excursions, activities, staff, were all good and we would certainly travel with Viking Ocean Cruises again, with a couple specific requests on the travel. Unfortunately there were aspects of the ocean line that simply didn’t measure up to the expectations set by the River ...

Great experience

It was a truly wonderful experience. Most of the ports were close to attractions in the cities and the ones that weren't offered free shuttle se vices. The excursions were well organized and informative. The included excursions gave a nice overview of each city. Our favorite excursion was in Cassis. We enjoyed the Torshavn bar each evening with live music. Everyone we interacted with that worked ...

We chose to cruise with Viking Ocean Cruises because we loved our Viking River Cruise down the Rhine! Viking sails with a much smaller, intimate number of people, our cruise, I believe there was 992 people on board. Their excursions are always so well organized, and they have access to places that other cruise lines do not have. Viking offers little things like water, or an umbrella, if needed ...

Great Trip on the Viking Star

This was our first cruise and the Viking Star spoiled us. We traveled with friends who had been on other cruises and they told us not to expect other ships, cabins, food, and crew to be as good as Viking Star. Our cabin was larger than most hotel rooms and very comfortable. The food was extremely good at every restaurant but the Chefs Table stands out as an excellent dining experience. Every ...
