I was able to cruise out of my hometown in Baltimore and this was my first trip. I also traveled alone, so a short cruise was a good choice for me. There are many activities or opportunities to just relax. Bermuda was lovely, I have been there before and just love the island. I never want to leave and always want to go back. The staff were extremely pleasant and professional. No one ever seemed as if they did not want to be there. It seemed they truly loved what they did. The captain, cruise director, activity staff, wait staff, bartenders, all were fun and funny. There was a good mix of seniors, families with young children, young couples, just all ages and groups. There were a few blips with meals in the main dining room but nothing too extreme. The food and beverages could be very good and at times not so good. The prime rib was not very good. The rooms could use a makeover but are kept well and clean. The beds and pillows were surprisingly comfortable. You can't go wrong with Royal Caribbean or the Grandeur of the Seas! Read Less

This was my husband and I first cruise to Bermuda. We have cruised thru RC in the past and was always satisfied. The RC staff have always been classy and professional in how they treat us. It seemed like the employees we came in contact with were kind and had a great sense of humor and provided awesome service, especially in the main dining for dinner, the waiter and waitress team named Shekar and Jingfang were outstanding! It’s always a great feeling to be treated with kindness and respect! Now as far as the shore excursions, they are very pricey! I wish that RC would give their repeat cruisers a better deal on things like that. Cruising is expensive enough, especially when you have to get to the ports, that’s why I feel as though they should lower the costs of different shore excursions. I also wish that our stay in Bermuda could have been a little longer, nonetheless we will cruise with RC again! Read Less

Great getaway for a 5 night cruise - out of Baltimore - easy on and easy off. The ship staff were even better this cruise - hard to pull off- but great service. Thanks to all of the crew and staff onboard, they did a great job. Entertainment was very good. The headliner was "Rookie" and they were a fun rock and roll band, with great energy. Captain Thor is a delight. My stateroom was available at noon, and all rooms were available at 1pm, never saw them ready that early. Very nice. And to my surprise, they did a major upgrade in the Casino, and have many brand new slots and kept two rows of video poker, and hope they continue to keep them or even upgrade them too. They were also slated to add new slots back in port when we got back to Baltimore. They had several new Dancing Drums, my favorite. Look forward to boarding the Grandeur again later this year. Wow! This cruise was perfect! The nine days seemed like being at a camp for grownups. We had more fun and laughed more on this cruise than we did during our eight previous cruises put together (we laughed so much that we lost weight on the cruise)! Baltimore The Port of Baltimore is a breeze to use. We enjoyed visiting the Inner Harbor post-cruise. The ship The Grandeur of the Seas’ smaller size is quite manageable. The ship is in top condition. Cruise Director and Activity Manager Mike Szwajkowski, the Cruise Director, and C.C., the Activities Manager, are a great combination. Each is quite talented. Mike was often funnier than the comedians he introduced. He is skilled at ad-libbing and has great timing; he does magic tricks; he performs a dynamite Elvis imitation; and he impersonates a cool policeman. I can remember only one CD (Kyle Dodson, Norwegian Gem) from our past cruises. I’ll never forget Mike and his humor. He had guests screaming with laughter and rolling in the isles during the Quest Show and the Jeopardy sessions. In addition to his outrageously funny humor, he is sincerely interested in his guests and is visible and participates in myriad events throughout the ship. Food Dinner in the Great Gatsby was delicious; waiters Shekar and Facky were attentive. Breakfast and lunch in the Windjammer were good. Waiter Asier from Spain was delightful and entertained folks with his squeaky toy. Officers circulated among guests and surveyed us to get our opinions about the food on board. We had lovely dinner table companions at the 5:30 p.m. seating. Ports of Call Charleston: we had time to walk around the historic area before the ship’s Boone Hall Plantation tour which was excellent. Miami: the ship’s Miami by Land and Sea excursion was interesting and included the Cuban influence, the Art Deco district, Calle Ocho, and mansions by the water. Port Canaveral: we stayed on the ship. Coco Cay: the port stop was cancelled due to weather. Nassau: a day and a half in port; the Sail and Snorkel excursion was cancelled due to weather. Mother Nature always bats last. we are glad the captain made decisions for safety first. Entertainment: Comedians Greg Vaccariello and Rick Novell are very talented. The Rookies musical group is as good a show as you’ll see anywhere. “Fountains” was hilarious. Thanks, Mike and C.C. Jeopardy: I was a contestant on the second day of Jeopardy. It was a blast! If someone has a video of the show, I would love to have a copy and shall pay for shipping. The funniest event of the cruise was the Quest competition. RCCI, please consider offering Quest more than once on cruises, perhaps every night! It was split-your-sides (adult) hilarity. Days at sea Great humor during the World’s Sexiest Man contest (congratulations to my husband, Kelley), and two sessions of Jeopardy. The Dad Joke/Bad Joke joke-off event between Mike and Greg Vaccariello was a hoot. We enjoyed playing games in A Grandeur Affair. Swimming in the saltwater pool was pleasant. The Q and A session with the three top officers was worthwhile. The staff’s parade of countries with flags was nice. We would repeat this cruise. From now on, my criteria for choosing a cruise will not be itinerary and price; it will be whether Mike Szwajkowski is the Cruise Director. RCCI, please tell us his schedule! Martha from WV Read Less

Smaller ship and mature crowd made for a very enjoyable 9 days. Grandeur may be showing her age a bit but she is kept beautifully clean. Above average entertainment overall (Rookie band was exceptional) and cruise director and his staff very outstanding. We felt the overall ship staff was above average in friendliness and was a real contrast to the recent MSC experience we had on Seaside. Food was consistent but Chops Grill was well worth the up charge Charlestown port is a very nice stop that is unique, however unless you are first timer, stopping in Port Canaveral is just a good way to enjoy ship without crowds. Again, we failed to get in Coco Cay, until they infrastructure of a dock is complete, seems silly to continue to try and stop at a place not condusive to a tender situation. To us, Nassau always seems like another wasted day, we have been there on numerous times. Would definately recommend Grandeur. Read Less

I enjoy the Windjammer selection and quality of food. Went to Chops and Giovanni’s. Both were good and worth the extra charge for the special dinning experience. My wife and I were glad we tried them but may only do one special dinning on our next cruise (did 4 on this 12 day cruise). Crew and staff were very friendly and went above and beyond to be helpful with any question or request I had. Grandeur is a smaller ship by today’s standard but enjoyed it. Got to know many other guests and made some new friends. That didn’t happen when we were on one of the mega ships. My only negative was on a smaller ship there are not as many chairs, especially in the Solarium (adult area). People had towels on the chairs by 6:30 AM even though they weren’t to be see in the area. There was a sign saying reserving chairs was no allowed and towels would be removed by staff if chair not used after 30 minutes. That rule was never inforced. Not a horrible problem since I don’t spend much time sunning in chairs, but I think people who “reserve” chairs are, as my grandson says, not nice. Small exercise area, but I never had trouble getting on equipment (early AM) or in steam room or sauna. Read Less

Smaller ship was great for our family with young kids. Adventure ocean was fantastic. My daughter loved it and wanted to go every day! The nursery was fantastic too. I wish that they didn’t charge extra for that service. We have twin babies and it cost almost $50 for 3 hrs in the evening. Toooo much!! Babies aren’t allowed in the pool but we brought a small blow up pool and it was perfect. Loved all of the guests too - so friendly and kind! The park cafe was a favorite spot to eat lunch. I would go again in a heartbeat!! Best family vacation ever! (My four year old daughter wants to add “we loved the ice cream too!” :) Read Less

Wanted to try Baltimore as we could drive and not fly. The Cruise Director Mike was the best we've ever had. Enjoyed the ship size and never felt rushed to get from point A to point B Enjoyed having options of movies in the Theater on cruise days. The live orchestra was fantastic! Headliner entertainment was exceptional. Embarkation & disembarkation went very smoothly. Though did need more Custom Agents and it would have moved faster. Our St. Thomas excursion on the Schooner was awesome. A shout out to Gigi ! Dauphin experience in St. Kitts was a highlight and very enjoyable. Our wait staff in the Main Dining Room was exceptional. Cabin was adequate and had the most storage from any ship we've ever been on. Yes, we look at this cruise again in the future. Just know 1st day out and last day back to Baltimore can be cool and a bit turblinent. We went in late April. Read Less

All aspects of this cruise were GREAT. The Cruise director was the best we had ever encountered. Here are the negatives........ Spa attendants were VERY condescending, the ONLY member of that spa team that was nice and helpful was the tall young male that worked there. The Casino could have been a better experience only because it was seriously UNDERstaffed. No change machines and not enough cashiers. (only ONE!!! at any given time) The Art auction was horrible. We bought 3 works of Art on our last cruise (Anthem) and NONE on this one. (Grandeur) It was soooo high pressure, and the ladies were SO incredibly FAKE. You can tell when someone is being friendly in a fake way and this was BLATANT. Dining, entertainment, cabin service, the ease of getting around this ship and the ports of call made this a great cruise. Everything else about this cruise was wonderful except those two areas mentioned above. Read Less

The embarkation and disembarkation went very smoothly. The ship was so clean, someone was always cleaning something. Our cabin was always clean and towels always replaced. Every night, coming to our room, we were met with a different animal on our bed.The dining was superb and the service was impeccable. They would always ask if everything is good and did we need, anything else. Always keeping our water and beverage filled. The entertainment was top notch. In the Windjammer their was such a variety of food and the food was very good and tasty. We had a superb show every night. Sometimes we went to both shows, we enjoyed them so much. The last cruise we were on was a bigger ship, but we did enjoy the smaller ship. This was our first Royal Caribbean cruise. We will come back on Royal Caribbean cruise lines again. All in all, I have to give the whole experience on the "Grandeur of the seas" a pleasant and enjoyable cruise vacation. I want to make mention of our two waiters that took care of us in the Great Gatspy. We were at table 514 and our waiters were (head waiter) Virgilio Jr from the Phillipines and (asst waiter) Safii from Indonesia. We were on My Time at 5:00 on deck 5. Read Less

This was our 2nd cruise on Grandeur and we enjoyed it just as much this time except for our stateroom. See cabin review below. Everything else was great. We had wonderful servers for our late seating dinner, Roy and Elena. We had forgotten a wine bottle opener so we asked our cabin attendant and he brought us one as well as an ice bucket which he kept full of ice for us. There was a new activity on one of the sea days which was the Grandeur Fair. They had games to play and if you won you got a ticket to enter in a drawing for prizes like t-shirts, etc. It was a lot of fun. We did the Pearl Island excursion in Nassau which was really nice. We booked it early and got 30% off which was a great deal. It included lunch, a drink, chairs, and free paddle boards, kayaks, etc. We can't wait to go again! Read Less

Individualized attention, great entertainment and service beyond my expectations. The food was excellent, the menu has been updated. Nice selections, less than before though. Ate in the dining rooom every morning for breakfast instead of Windjammer. Really enjoyed that. Plenty of loungers available at the pool. Didnt notice to many chair hogs. Love the Solarium pool. The area is not packed with chairs end to end like other ships. There is plenty of room to walk around. The activities team put on a carnival at the main Pool on the last day. It was enjoyed by all.and quite an event. The one fault i have is with the Centrum. This is where u find the chair hogs. We loved it! Service was amazing and that made the vacation fantastic! We traveled with my parents and my kids (13 and 9). RC changed the itinerary twice without compensation. They canceled a day at Coco Cay and replaced it with Miami of all places! Then they canceled grand Bahama island and made it 2 days in Nassau. But boat was fun and we had a great time. All of the food was delicious. We all tried new foods and ate a lot. My teen was in food heaven- room service for pre- breakfast, buffet for breakfast, buffet/dining room for lunch, cafe for afternoon snack, buffet for pre-dinner snack, dining room for dinner. Trivia and other games were fun to play as a family. We won family bingo and got medals! Excursion to blue lagoon was to die for. Go there if you can. Well worth the money! Btw, this was our first cruise and we all get motion sickness easily. I was motion sick the first night. We were still on the Chesapeake bay so I was thinking I would have to get off cruise at first port (because I thought the ocean would be way worse). But then we all put on a scopolamine patch and sea bands. We felt great the rest of the trip. Read Less

The pool areas are great, one for adults is more quiet and very clean. The cafe is right in the pool area so food is easy to get at any time. The crew and staff are amazing and are always so cheerful and want to please you at all times. The areas to sit and relax are great and there is always something going on such as music, dancing, classes etc. The seating out side on the decks are plentiful and always at the right places. My wife and I had an awesome trip and were treated so well from everyone on this ship. The food and service were outstanding. There was only one day out and one day back that had some rough seas, but all in all it was Smooth Sailing for sure. The Grandeur is an older ship and you can see this in the staterooms and some of the older components or lack of new features on the ship, but the people more than make up for these items. My wife did wish we saw more towel animals in our room, but that is not why I booked this cruise anyway. lol. We visited some amazing ports of call and met some of the most interesting people both on and off the ship. Our only hope here is that we keep in connection with some of them and perhaps cruise with them again. We did a good bit of homework before booking the cruise as well as for the excursions and island activities. This helped us create an agenda that felt comfortable, compelling and in control of budgets. This 12 day cruise was a good deal and we certainly got our monies worth. We will certainly look at RCI and Baltimore as cruise points for our next trip. Read Less

We were looking for a relaxing vacation, and 12 nights aboard Grandeur of the Seas was perfect. The crew is the friendliest in the fleet! Cruise Maryland is a few hours from our home so we didn't have to fly. The staff at the port were friendly and efficient. We dropped off our luggage, and parked within a very short walk to the terminal. We were on the ship within 30 minutes of our arrival at the port. Love this port! We very much enjoy sea days along with the stops in St Thomas, Antigua, St Lucia, St Kitts, and St Martin. While you could see some evidence of hurricane damage in St Thomas & St Martin, those islands were very much open for business. The downtown area of Phillipsburg St Martin, including the boardwalk and beach area looked like pre hurricane. We did two excursions: Scenic St Lucia-we had a wonderful guide and toured the island. It was informative, and featured beautiful scenery. The St Kitts train excursion, however, was disappointing. The train had a terrible squealing noise to the point you couldn't hear the tour guide. The first part of the train trip (20 mins) offered views of abandoned junked cars. Following the train portion, the bus returned us to the port. However, it stopped 4 blocks from the port for a bathroom break. Everyone on the bus was tired and looked forward to the excursion being over. It was not a tour we would recommend. Grandeur doesn't have the big Broadway Productions like Oasis class, but had a great variety of entertainment. There were the Royal Caribbean singers & dancers, as well as comedians, ventriloquist, and a hypnotist. Two outstanding shows were Tango Buenos Aires, and a Beatles tribute band. Of course there were the typical "shows" by the Cruise Director's staff. We always enjoy "Finish that Lyric", "Dancing with the Stripes", Sing along with the officers, and trivia. There were great movies in the Theatre almost every afternoon. Dining was nice. Our wait staff was excellent. It is obvious that they are cutting back on the quality and selections in the MDR. Overall I much prefer the appetizers to the main entrée. We certainly didn't go hungry, and looked forward to meeting up with our tablemates each evening. Although our next cruise is aboard Allure, we wouldn't hestitate to sail Grandeur of the Seas again. Read Less

We choose this cruise due to the close proximity we are to the Baltimore port. We have been on Lady Grandeur 8 times already and it feels like going home when we board. Though the ship is older it remains in good shape and is constantly maintained by RCI Our cabin was 4574 and so close to everything the ship offers. The only draw back is that if you don't have earplugs, don't book this stateroom. It's very loud from all of the activities in the centrum. I had packed some earplugs and was fine with any noise. Being a connecting stateroom it only has a chair and not a loveseat but we knew all of this going in so it was not a big deal. The new menu was rolled out in the main dining room and personally I liked the way it was prior to the change. The new menu has less selections in both appetizers and dinners. Also you now order your dessert with the main meal. I guess that saves time for the servers and in turn you gain better service. Our waiter was Christian and Assistant waiter was Aiser. Both were wonderful and gave their all to make certain that all seven of us were well taken care of. The activities were mostly trivia and pool games as well as dance classes. Orlando was the greatest. He had the type personality that you couldn't help but be drawn to. Big Bob and CC fell a bit flat and that was a bit disappointing. The morning show was proof of that. Our captain was excellent but this was his last cruise on Grandeur and a new captain is replacing him. I'm sorry I didn't find out who. The service was top notch from the stateroom attendant to the bar servers to the service and shore excursion desk. We booked our next cruise while onboard and they too did a wonderful job. We only did one excursion in Antigua and that was ziplining. 13 different lines and sure to please anyone that enjoys this type adventure. The entertainment was good, however we did not go to the production shows as we've seen them all before. The rest of the entertainment was great. We went to Giovanni's and Kiki was our server. More food than anyone could possibly eat and it all was absolutely delicious! Well worth the additional money. We certainly will be enjoying Lady Grandeur again as we booked her for 2020. Read Less

Chose this cruise because we live only about one hour drive from Port of Baltimore and it’s so easy to get there. No airfare needed! Embarking is a breeze. This was our fourth Royal Caribbean cruise. (2 other prior cruises with HAL and Carnival) My husband and I cruised with our two children (6&8) and our friends who are new to cruises and brought their two children (7&9). This was our second trip on Grandeur. It felt like coming home. Our last trip on Grandeur was also a spring break/Easter cruise. This time they tried to do a little more to recognize the Easter holiday. There was an opportunity to have a photo with Easter bunny and an Easter egg hunt. The hunt was poorly organized. They need to stagger entry so small and young children have a chance. Some adults were rushing in too. Not a good scene. The food was very good. I thought they do a really nice job when you consider how many folks they’re cooking for. Our friends are vegetarian and they had special requests that were honored everyday. The ship seems to be cutting corners here and there. Anyone who has cruised for over ten years will notice it. My big gripe is the soda package. I prepaid for unlimited Coca Cola products but got very limited product. The machines that dispense the coke products malfunction or are poor stocked. Unless you prefer Sprite or root beer, don’t buy the package. The machines were almost always out of Coke, Diet Coke, Coke Zero. I complained three times and no change. Also no bar server or restaurant server ever offered to refill my coke. This is despite the fact I had to prepay 18% gratuity in the entire Coke product beverage package.( I feel very ripped off. Hope you are listening Royal Caribbean!) Our experience was overall very good. We did not like the cruise director “Big Bob” as he was not warm and personable, in our experience. My friend participated in a game and Big Bob yelled and pressured him to take off his shirt. My friend was not happy. We did love our main dining room experience. Shout out to Great Gatsby’s Anita, Grant G., Vitaliy and Robert W. (Or the “Sheriff” of windjammer). These guys really care and want their guests to have best possible experience. So Enjoyed the prime rib, lobster tail, shrimps, cheesecake, cherries jubilee, ceasar salad, French onion soup, eggs, mashed potatoes, fresh fruit, daily rolls with butter, chicken Parmesan, molten chocolate cake, raspberry ganache, and ice cream. Yum! (I probably gained five pounds.) Did try Olga’s yoga classes. My friend and I went to four or five. I thought she was good. Took dance class with Bas ❤️and Zumba with Caroline. ❤️ They were both great. We enjoyed our ports. Can see hurricane damage but had a perfect beach day in Phillipsburg, St. Martin. Took a fun snorkel excursion in St. Thomas to Turtle Bay. Unfortunately we didn’t see many tropical fish or coral. Again, if you snorkeled ten or more years ago you see the difference. The ocean is changing. We enjoyed shopping in St. Kitts and toured on our own mostly. Caribbean Cab drivers were super aggressive at times. Had so-so experience dealing with them on the islands. Enjoyed the local beer. Try Piton and Caribe. Enjoyed eating shrimp, rice and beans at The Nest at the Valley Church Beach on Antigua. Loved Burger Madness on St. Martin. Don’t expect quick service though. Remember you’re on Island Time. We had two days with rough seas. My kids were seasick (plus our little one ran fever for days) but taking Tylenol and Dramamine early helped. Must say, Did NOT have good experience at the medical facility with ship’s doctor “Luis” , nurse “Rose” seemed more caring, but both gave bad medical advice contrary to what our excellent pediatricians say to do here in US. I would NOT return to that clinic unless dying. Would return to Grandeur of the Seas but we are interested in checking out some newer ships so we’re booked on a Ovation and Anthem for our upcoming cruises. We do always appreciate Adventure Ocean (AO) staff. They do a great job with our kids. Our kids were sad however they didn’t get AO pillowcases this time or get to repeat the pirate parade they did last time. We also liked Donna the face painting professional. She was so nice and friendly and did a great job with the kids. Happy cruising! Read Less

I absolutely love this ship! It's small, which provides a level of intimacy that you don't get on the big ships. You bond with the crew and they become family. They have always bent over backwards to make our vacations the best ever! Remember though, you get what you give. If you treat them with respect and and kind you will get so much more than the norm! Leaving from the port of Baltimore is so easy and convenient. No flying required. Cabins are clean and neat! Dining is amazing! If you walk away hungry it's your own fault. From the eggs to the lobster the food is the best! There are so many activities that you can't get bored. There are things for kids to the elderly. I highly recommend this ship, RCI and the port of Baltimore for your next cruise. 12 days is a lot to pack for. Being able to pull up, have a porter take your luggage, park your car, walk into the terminal, register, then walk onto the ship... No better way to travel! Read Less

This cruise was a Christmas present for the two of us. We decided to do a 12-day cruise out of Baltimore as we live 20 minutes from the port. Embarkation and check-in was smooth and handled very professionally and pleasantly. We had a nice afternoon sitting in the Solarium and exploring around it (found the Park Cafe and got a delicious egg salad sandwich and chocolate chip cookies!). Once we got into our cabin, we found it very clean and comfortable. Our cabin attendant, Laura, was pleasant and greeted us cheerfully. Then on to dinner in the Main Dining Room, where we met our servers for the week - Lulana and Jess. Again - so delightful! When we mentioned that we are vegetarians and there was just one vegetarian option on the main menu, the maitre d' was happy to provide us with the vegan menu and made a note that we were to receive the Indian entree as well. So our food was amazing!! We often had breakfast in the MDR as well - and it was delightful! Best excursion was our catamaran sail/snorkeling trip in St. Thomas. The Stars and Strips crew was pleasant and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the complimentary beverages and lunch! I think we found the volcanic mud experience on St. Lucia to be our least delightful excursion. The trip across the island to the volcano was really pretty and the lunch at the restaurant selected by the excursion company. But the mud itself - meh. We had a grand time playing the Love & Marriage Game. We lost, but it was fun and the prizes we were giving to just go away were great! Also had fun with the Karaoke and the Finish the Lyric and the Beanbag Toss games in the Centrum! Possibly the highlight of the evenings was our visits to the Schooner Bar, where Mr. H crooned to us. Still humming Bed of Roses... All in all - what a great vacation. We enjoyed every minute thoroughly and will definitely be on another cruise as soon as we possibly can! Read Less

We loved this boat. The staff are amazing. The food is great. The dining room service and buffet service are fantastic. The boat is clean, the rooms are clean. There are many activities. On the 3 ship days, you don't even notice bc you have so many activities to participate in. We really enjoyed this cruise and it's great value. The boat seems small, but it's the perfect size if you have kids bc you can actually find them if they wander off. The staff are really helpful. On the last day, we lost our son, and staff found him and let us know where he was within 5 minutes of looking for him. The children's center is a God send. We dropped off our son every night at 7:00 p.m. so we could have dinner and watch the show. It was at no extra charge. My son really enjoyed it there. The activities are well planned and fun. I highly recommend. Read Less
