Wanted to cruise to Charleston, but wasn’t meant to be on THIS cruise due to Maintenance Issues and a small outbreak of Norovirus. But we felt we were compensated nicely and will try to make this same cruise in the future. So our Cruise was cut short by 2 days in the beginning, then we couldn’t make 1 stop on the way back due to high winds which was out of the cruise line so control (yes this has happened with other cruise lines), all in all we were forced to be pampered and eat our way thru the cruise and at the end after paying all our room fees, port taxes, stuff we bought on the ship we still had a “sizable credit” coming home. I would call that a nice cruise! Thank you Royal Carribean! Only complaints would have been was in the entertainment part while at sea. They really need to update the TV and what they have available, especially when Seas are a bit rough and people are spending more time in their rooms. There are no CD’s available or movies to rent thus making for a very LONG and ROUGH day/night. Read Less

Going to preface this by saying this was my first cruise experience. Am a 40/m if that matters. SHIP: Seemed nice to me, a little creaky especially on day 4 when the swells were 10 feet. Was told it was smallish for the RC fleet which is why it rocked so much. Many people were seasick that day. I was not, thankfully. Cabin: had a balcony on 7th floor, loved the ocean sound at night. Bed was very comfy(king). Room was big enough, good size couch. TV selection was limited, which only mattered b/c we only had 2 days of port excursions and 7 days at sea. Dining: the variety and quality at dinner was perfect, couldn't have been happier with the staff either. Windjammer was good, if a little bit packed at prime time. had to search to tables most meals up there. but quality was good. Entertaimnet: Headliners were decent. I love Stand up comedy, and both acts were good, not great. Rookies was quality, as was Celine Dion tribute. Neither were really my thing, but I enjoyed them. Spa was very unorganized, maybe it was the change in schedule but a few events my wife went up to did not go off. They didn't seem to even know what was in the Daily Compass. Casino was good, slots were real loose. I don't normally play them, but entire family was up a few hundred on them. Lost it all on the craps table. They were cool at the table. The smaller min's made the math backwards for me on the odd's and the number bets. They were VERY patient with me and my wife and made sure we had the right amount down to get the best odds. They were understaffed in my opinion, especially on the cruise days as only half the table was open most of the time so we were crammed on one side. Service: Front desk, wait staff, windjammer, pictures, cabin clean up crew were 10/10...absolutely outstanding. Ports - Excursions: Only had 2 port stops. 1. Port Canaveral. There is nothing at all to do there at port, we went to Kennedy Space Center and the tour/tour guide was awesome. Got to see everything from Mercury up to the Shuttles. Hall of heros was humbling and tasteful. Disney/Universal to me was too far away with the time window given. 2. Naasau: Cool port, there is enough to roam around spending a day there. We spent 2, so went to the chocolate factory tour and made some chocolate. pretty cool. We did not go to Charleston, Coco Bay(Due to weather) or Grand Bahama island. disappointing for sure, but not much they could do about it. Read Less

Dirty ship, rude staff and mediocre food. Our cabin was dirty and various things throughout the ship was broken including ice machines and soda dispensers. We were on this ship in Feb. 2017 and had a wonderful time so we re-booked it for Jan. 2018. Such a big difference in less than a year. There was a fellow passenger who was in the Solarium and using the hot tub and was suffering from being in it to long. He face was flushed and in obvious distress. She asked for a glass of water from a staff member and they told her no that she could get one at 8:30 pm when they opened. (this was around 8:25pm) They turn off the water dispenser during the time they are closed. All he had to do was flip a switch and give her a glass of water. Instead she had to find a bar that was open and ask for one. Read Less

Let me start out by saying that we had a good time despite some unfortunate occurrences on this sailing. My husband and 19/21-year-old sons haven't cruised for a couple of years and we chose this sailing because it was very affordable and Baltimore is fairly close to our home in Cherry Hill NJ. Embarkation: RCI sent an email indicating that embarkation would be delayed due to 12:00 due to extra cleaning, but we arrived at the port a little after 11AM and people were already boarding. We waited in line for about 15 minutes and check-in was uneventful. Ship: others have commented that the ship is looking old and dated, but it looked fine to me! I like the layout of the ship--it's small enough to be manageable but large enough to not feel claustrophobic. The public spaces are very comfortable. Cabins: we had a balcony on the 7th deck and the kids had an interior on the 3rd deck. Balcony cabin had plenty of space for us. It was in very good condition except for a few dings on the bathroom floor. The interior cabin was a little cramped and the bathroom was so oddly configured that the commode could not be used without hitting your knees on the bathroom door. The stewards for both cabins were friendly, efficient, and accommodating. Windjammer: pleasant surprise--fruit smoothies for breakfast! The omelette station was great as usual and lines were short. We had lunch there a few times and the food was good but not exceptional. We also ate dinner there once and while the food was OK, we decided to stick to the MDR. MDR: service was great, and food was too! The eggs benedict at breakfast were very good--the poached eggs were cooked perfectly. When it was open, lunch in the MDR was also good--but the service and the food were better at dinner. I didn't have a dinner that I didn't like. They tend to overcook lobster and fish, but shrimp, scallops, and escargot were cooked perfectly. Honey-walnut tart was the best dessert. Service was excellent at dinner. We had my time dining and I had made reservations prior to departure--we were usually seated immediately at a table for 4 and the longest we waited was just a couple of minutes. We had the same wait staff for 9 of 11 nights. Service at dinner was excellent--very attentive but not obtrusive. Food was served fairly quickly and was always hot. We didn't have dinner in any of the specialty restaurants, but we did sign up for sushi-making class and lunch at Izumi--we had a lot of fun and I would definitely recommend it if you don't mind paying the extra fee (I can't exactly remember the fee, but including the 18% added gratuity, it was just shy of $100 for 3 of us). Entertainment: I was surprised that the "welcome aboard" show was a comic--I really enjoyed it! The same comic also performed an adult show later on during the cruise and I enjoyed that as well. One night they had a fantastic and entertaining juggler. The other show I attended was an ABBA tribute and I didn't care for it at all. I didn't go to the Celine Dion tribute--not my cup of tea. One of the original Lettermen also performed one night, and it was just OK--but many fellow passengers who grew up with the Lettermen really loved it. As far as the other activities, there was lots of trivia but we didn't go to any. The only activity we went to was origami--not good, there were too many people there for the space, and half of us had to stand up while trying to fold paper. They also showed a couple of good movies. Overall, the ship's entertainment was good but nothing was spectacular. Weather: OK, I know RCI can't control the weather but it did impact our cruise. Nobody in my family got seasick but we did some rockin' and rollin'! There were 3 days (once heading south toward Charleston and twice on the return tip to Baltimore) when barf bags made appearances in public areas. All of the excursions were cancelled in Charleston because a snow/ice storm had occurred the day prior to our arrival. It's pretty funny--being from the northeast, I just assumed that the streets and sidewalks would be cleared a day after the storm...not so! A cab driver that we talked to said that the last time they had snow was in 2006 and they are always unprepared for snow and ice. We got off the ship and walked around a bit in a few inches of snow, but the streets were very icy. Lots of people stayed on the ship. We also missed Coco Cay due to high winds (not able to safely tender). It was colder than we expected and...I can't believe I would ever say this, but...THERE WERE NO CHAIR HOGS AROUND THE POOL! (and very few in the Solarium). Excursions: my husband and older son did the RC tour to Cape Canaveral Space Center and enjoyed it. We didn't do any excursions in Freeport, just did some shopping at Port Lucaya, which was a little disappointing (just some fine jewelry stores and T-shirts). It was too cold to go to the beach. In Nassau, we got passes from the Comfort Suites and went to Atlantis. It was a bit chilly but we did have a good time at Atlantis' Aquaventure. Strange Occurrences: The port side rudder had a mechanical problem which forced an unplanned stop in Orlando during our return trip. Our return to Baltimore was delayed 2 days! There were about 200-300 people who disembarked in Orlando because they had work or other commitments...those folks were understandably upset since all kinds of travel arrangements had to be rescheduled. RCI did offer reimbursement of change fees up to a certain dollar amount and assisted the passengers who needed help with travel arrangements. We stayed on the ship because we didn't have any pressing commitments. Another sort-of-unexpected event was the appearance of norovirus. I don't have a lot of comment about that, other than that the crew worked EXTREMELY hard at keeping public and private areas clean. The crew served people in the Windjammer instead of allowing self-service for the last several days of the cruise. Noro or not, we try to wash our hands a lot and "washy washy" at every opportunity and we've never been sick on any cruise. Another unusual thing happened when the ship returned to Orlando for repairs. Everyone was advised by written notice to report to a specified place on the ship with their ID/passports for an immigration check. Communication was very poor--many passengers did not realize that they would have to leave the ship and not be able to return until every single passenger had cleared immigration, which took a couple of hours. This was a nuisance that was unavoidable, but RCI should have communicated the process more clearly and set realistic expectations for how long it would take. Overall, we had a good time. Some of our negative experiences weren't within the ship's control, but some were. We took this vacation to relax and have fun and we did, despite the strange things that happened! Read Less

Group of family/friends goes on cruise annually. This year we were faced with norovirus, high seas, a mechanical break down and an unanticipated extension of the trip. Was impressed with crew as they dealt with the norovirus that someone brought on board. None of the 12 in our groups was affected, and am sure it was because of crew's attention to "washy washy" details. Was disappointed we did not get to Coco Cay. One of our favorite places to be. But rough seas kept us in Nassau for safety reasons. The amazing crew kept us happy, well fed, and entertained during the "adventure" of losing the starboard steering mechanism. We had an extra 2 days added to the cruise while the ship was repaired. Huanxiu was an amazing wait staff. She always remembered preferences and names, and made our dining a treat. The cabin staff was great in managing a group with 2 disabled travelers. Trivia -- had a great time with the crew. Read Less

Chose this cruise based off of price and date of vacation. There was not much to do for young adults. We were unable to go on our shore excursion and they tried to charge us extra for a supplemental excursion. Pricing was not clear for the Spa. Still had to pay for the entire cruise even though we had to leave early because of maintenance on the ship. Very disappointed with the overall experience. Only positive was the food and comedians on board. The ship is very outdated and it showed. One of the main features is the Casino so if you don't gamble there was not much to do. The ship has a small pool outside and inside. Most of the time the Jacuzzis were closed which was disappointing. We received multiple answers from different members of the guest services staff. This caused much confusion. Overall, I would not recommend going with this cruise ship. Read Less

This is a very old ship. Worse cruise I have ever been on. They didn't have enough help anywhere. Took a long time in the dining room to get served. This was not the waiters fault, just not enough waiters to go around. We lost a port of call due to the weather, which I realize could not be helped. We had some sickness, but the main problem was mechanical and we had to go back to port for repairs. Turned a 9 day cruise into an 11 day cruise. Our boys had to work and they lost wages for the 2 extra days at sea. Neither of them are happy about that. I wish Royal Caribbean would reimburse them for those 2 extra days. As a matter of fact we were not compt anything at all. A few discounts which we didn't use. All in all was not a good cruise. Have no intention of cruising again. This was our 7th cruise. They say I have to use 150 words so I guess I will complain some more. You couldn't get your own food in the Windjammer. They took salt and pepper and sugar off the table even in the dining room. They didn't want you touching anything. I know they were being cautious but to have to ask for a sugar packet is crazy. Ok I have enough words to post, I will get off my soapbox now. Hope all you cruisers have a great time on your next cruise!! Read Less

Overall the cruise was good. Many a bit upset as the steering system broke extending the arrival time back to Baltimore by 2 days. Freeport is a bit of a bore not much to do. Nausea is great, strongly recommend Atlantis Hotel to visit. Take a cab forget the excursion. Port Canaveral is ok, you're in the States so no big deal. RC is generally a good cruise line, I find the staff and service top notch. The excursions are all overpriced but that is the same with all cruise lines that's why I never book unless I can't do it myself. I like the fact I can drive to the Ports in New York to take a cruise. Living in Canada enables me to take an 8-hour drive and get on the cruise ship. Beats flying and is a lot cheaper. Rent a hotel and leave the car for a week at the hotel. Read Less

I chose this cruise because it left from Baltimore and the dates were a perfect time to be away from MD. Everytime I got on or off the ship, it went very smooth and the crew was super nice. I was in a balcony room on the 7th deck and my attendant, Mennie, was amazing......she was on the spot at all times. I mostly hung out at the bars. If you drink more then 3 or 4 drinks a day, then you should DEFINITELY get the drink package. I got my money's worth and then some! The Solarium Bar and the Casino Bar were great. The Solarium had a bartender named "Acosta".....this guy was on the BALL and we all loved him!! In the casino bar, Dane and Mark were equally as awesome as Acosta. Different crowd and smoking in the casino....i don't smoke, but I had so much fun in there, I didn't mind. Dane pours a great drink and was just a great dude to watch work with here and there. Food -- I usually hate buffet type food....but the food in the Windjammer was really freaking good. Everything is not for everyone, but every pasta dish, stew, or carved meat I tried was really good!! The Great Gatsby was really good...whether I ate the free meal or upgraded....the service was IMPECCABLE!! I can't remember my dudes' names because I am terrible with names.....but I think they were Rijandarian, Atul, and the dude who was the boss who was from Turkey. They were so freaking awesome. I loved going there just talk to them and see them work! ( Surf and Turf was ALWAYS really good! ) Chops Grille -- meh....i prefered getting the Chops Grille food in the Great Gatsby....much better service. Giovannis -- HOLY WOW!! I didn't want to go here.....it was PHENOMENAL!! They brought out every gotd@m appetizer....family style....but there was SO MUCH FOOD and it was DELICIOUS!! Wine was good, appetizers were out of this world, and the main courses were all delicious according to my table mates! The bar on the 4th floor....good dudes there, I only went there a few times here and there. Starbucks - I don't drink it, but my wife does....it's all free and good with the drink package. It isn't called Starbucks, but the logo is plastered everywhere and the quality was really good. Good dudes at the Schooner Bar.....just had more fun with the people I met at the other bars, so I wasn't here a lot. Wi-Fi package....affordable and pretty reliable throughout the course of the trip. We didn't make it to CoCo-Cay due to weather. 2 nights in Nassau were great. Then, the ship had a malfuntion and we had to stop again in Florida on the way back instead of heading to Bmore. So...instead of getting back THursday morning....we got back Saturday morning. I am sure this was a bummer to some people.....i freaking loved it!! 2 more days of hanging out with new friends, meeting more new friends, and crushing the drink package. I would def go again, but it will be awhile....I am an overindulger and need to let me body heal!! :) I am sure the shows and stuff were good, but I wouldn't know....I was drinking and hanging out at the casino, and eating the whole time!! But, it was really fun!! Oh yeah....the Park Cafe....they have these roast beef sandwiches on off hours.....Make sure you get one....it will keep you in the game if you drink too much and they were delicious!! (Nachos and pizza there late at night....really good for last call food! :) ) Viking Crown Lounge - It was good....DJ has to keep everyone happy so I was just chilling with whatever music. Only up there 3 or 4 times.... I had literally zero complaints even though we missed a port and the ship had a problem. Have a great day!! Read Less

Great value, relaxing and fun. We like to get away to a slightly warmer climate during the winter. This was our 2nd time on this ship. We are low key cruisers - enjoy a cappuccino and muffin in the morning, sit/swim at pool - read a good book or meet new people at Trivia, end with a quiet dinner and entertainment (nice variety and different from our previous cruise on this ship) in the evening. A great day at sea, or at port. And, I didn't have to cook or clean - can't beat that! As pescatarians, vegetarians plus fish, we found several choices at dinner. We're not typically into soy meat variations, so did not try these dishes. We ordered an extra plate of vegetables to share at dinner time - with a main dish of pasta there often wasn't veges. Also, helped us to not 'overindulge' in the desserts - no extra pounds on my hips. Personally, the buffet is noisier than I prefer so I typically avoid. I made an exception to get the made to order omelet (extra Veges!). We can drive to Port which is an added bonus. Must pay for parking, but still beats airfare for 2. Baltimore is one of the easiest embarkation/disembarkation port experiences we've had. Read Less
