Outstanding!

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Viking Baldur

Great cities, fantastic food, colorful and very informed tour guides, and extremely friendly fellow travelers. Only disappointment would be selection of items on german themed dinner night. Optional tour of Schönbrunn Palace had to little free time to explore palace grounds and gardens. This was our first cruise with Viking and we are already recommending it to our traveling friends. We ...

Nicest vacation ever

I have visited 41 countries over my last 90 years and this cruise was the best vacation I have ever had. The entire operation was very professional, and it was obvious that everyone involved was well trained and motivated. It was my first river cruise, and it is a wonderful concept, staying in one room while visiting several countries and cultures. The dining room was especially well done, the ...

Pre-and post-cruise extensions were the best part of the experience. The bus from Amsterdam to Frankfurt was the worst.

My wife and I did a Grand European Cruise on Viking Cruise line, August 14-28, with a pre-cruise extension in Burges, Belgium (August 11-14) and a post-cruise extension in Prague (August 28-31). Because of water levels, the Rhine was not navigable so we took a bus from Amsterdam to Frankfurt. The pre-and post-cruise extensions were the best part of the experience. The bus from Amsterdam to ...

I had never been to Europe before. I chose Viking due to reputation and marketing information received through the mail. I wanted to devote a minimum of two weeks to this trip to justify the flight time and distance. The Grand European Tour fit the bill. We got to see all of our scheduled stops including a nice unexpected porting and tour of the city of Mainz. However, due to river levels, ...

We were very excited to experience our first river cruise and had heard many good things about Viking Cruises. We were especially excited to take the cruise starting in Amsterdam and ending in Budapest with a lay over in Prague. Our expectations were more than exceeded. We not only enjoyed the food, but were pleasantly surprised by the reasonable drink package that allowed us to experience some ...

We chose this cruise because we had been wanting to visit historically rich and architecturally significant landmarks of Europe while traveling in a way that kept us as safe as possible from covid. Viking provided all of those things in a very big way on their Grand European cruise! There we many pleasant surprises along the way beginning with being greeted upon our arrival at the airport ...

This was our first Viking and river cruise. Our travel companions had done the Paris to Normandy and raved about it. We picked this cruise because we loved the itinerary and we were able to visit many cities and countries without having to pack and unpack. Viking was outstanding, it definitely deserves it's excellent reviews. The staff is amazingly professional yet very friendly. The food was ...

We had taken a 1-week Viking cruise up the Rhine River previously. So we had a good idea of what to expect. But this trip was so much more than we could have expected. The ship was luxurious and comfortable. Food superb. Crew attentive and eager to please. Cruise Director Richie was a delight. In each town that we docked, an included excursion provided an excellent tour and source of ...

Germany was on our bucket list and this cruise gave us a chance to see multiple cities and revisit Amsterdam. We were initially concerned that we may be to young for something like this (47) but that turned out to be very wrong. We had a Veranda B room and it worked out very well for us. I am not an ocean cruise fan as I do not like large crowds and the constant waiting for everything. River ...

Our Rhine River Getaway had every amenity possible and the added touches of the staff and crew were simply top notch. We cruised in an Explorer Suite from March 27, 2022 to Apr 3, 2022. The food was expertly prepared at each meal. The choices of local cuisine at each port we also so tasty that I tried each one. I also recommend the Silver Spirits Beverage package as it allows for many choices ...
