This was our first Viking river cruise and will not be our last. Comfortable ship, very friendly and helpful crew, great food and a good selection of included and optional shore excursions. While the low water level resulted in meeting the ship 75 miles from the initial port we were offered a bus trip back to Regensburg. We chose Viking because of the itinerary that gave us more time in Vienna and ...
My husband is not a fan of cruises, especially ocean cruises. He did think a river cruise as described by Viking would be worth doing. We loved the idea of cruising the Danube and we were NOT disappointed. The boat, the room, the crew, the food and the overall experience were just great. We were particularly impressed with our Program Director, Joey. He was a presence and did everything we ...
We were excited to travel to countries we were familiar with, but hadn't been to these specific areas. We wanted low hassle travel where we weren't having to unpack and repack every couple days, and wanted low stress for meals, out of pocket expenses, and activities. The cruise fit these categories and more. It was our first river cruise, but definitely will not be our last! The staff were so ...
The ship and the crew of the Viking Atla are simply fabulous! Joey (program director) and the rest of the staff went out of their ways to be sure all of our needs and wishes were met. In the midst of a drought, we got to Regensberg along with 2 days of showers - and we rode that beautiful wave all the way to Budapest.
There were a few times when our docking plans were altered but Viking ...
I cannot say enough good about the Viking staff. From the minute we landed until we got back to the airport, every detail was taken care of. Even with Danube River level issues, Viking was diligent in providing the best service and vacation they could. Slight bumps in the itinerary were handled seamlessly. If you want a trip where you spend all day soaking in the culture, history, and sights ...
We chose this cruise since it went to many places during the cruise. The cost was affordable and we got free airfare and free upgraded drink package. The main drawback was the amount of time we lost exploring because of being transported by bus because the ship could not sail. This greatly impeded the cruise time on the river as well...Viking did a nice job with making arrangements in spite of ...
Let me start off by saying the staff onboard the Viking Atla were top notch. They were attentive, knowledgeable and very caring. Program director, Jochgum, was always a joy to be around. His energy and enthusiasm were infectious (sorry about the bad pandemic pun). The ship was spotless. The meals were a highlight of the trip. The ship's chefs outdid themselves every night and the Maitre D', Gabor, ...
This was my first river cruise and it did not disappoint! The excursions provided a wonderful overview of the various cities and the tour guides were extremely knowledgeable. Due to low water levels, our ship was unable to dock in Regensburg. However, the crew ensured we would still tour the town by providing buses that took us into town and back again. While the buses were obviously not part of ...
We continue to be amazed at the level of service provided by Viking and the on board staff. We love the smaller boats where we get to know not only the staff but our fellow travelers. The food and wine are wonderful (we always get the Silver Service Package) and the staff is top notched. We love that their are no gimmicks just good service and fabulous sites along the river. The excursions are ...
This cruise covered areas of Europe that we have been interested in exploring for quite some time. The idea of using the ship as your hotel is simply fantastic! The cruise director makes it so easy to help us with our itinerary and and managing our expectations.
We signed up for the pre extensions for Prague and having a guide lead us on that adventure was priceless. This extension included ...
