Having read the reviews to say i was anxious to go was an understatement. This was my first cruise I'm 24 and took along my 75 year old grandma who wanted to experience a cruise this summer. The staff on this boat were excellent, there was not one person who wasn't happy and willing to go out their way to help you. This was everyone from the cleaners, the officers to the bar staff and waiting staff. The entertainment team are FAB. All the shows were like something you would pay to go see in the theatre! The food was great, we dined in the seven sea's restaurant most nights and this was 5 star! The boat is a bit tired looking but you cannot expect a 5 star ship when only paying 3 star prices. Everyone on the boat is British and were VERY nice. This has made me want to cruise again! Read Less

This was our first time on a cruise, and was a little nervous as I have Crohn's disease and suffer with sea sickness. We booked this as a package 7 night cruise with 7 night stay. We got married the day before and booked a blessing at sea as we have both been married before. From the minute we arrived in Majorca, the staff we so attentive and very clear upon the instructions upon checking in on the boat. The reception staff were friendly and couldn't do more to help. We meet with Craig Cook the social welfare member who did everything to arrange our blessing at sea. He arranged for a special dietary needs message sent to all restaurants, beautiful fresh flowers for our blessing and a wonderful cake. The housekeepers Charlie and Elmsd kept everything in tip top shape, different towel animals made everyday, even balloons and decorations on the day of our blessing. The captains dinner was brilliant, some of the waiters sang to the whole restaurant really brightening everyone's spirits. The entertainment team couldn't do enough, so ,uch choice throughout the whole ship. The captains daily updates were very informative. The best holiday to date and definitely booking again. Read Less

We booked a cruise and stay. Our cruising week was fabulous nothing was too much trouble for the staff and the reps on board. The cabins were absolutely fine clean and tidy, we were on the 7th deck which was ideal. Food was plentiful and there was something there for everyone including me and I am incredibly fussy. Evening entertainment particularly the two bands were great. We dressed and went to the captains dinner this was wonderful. Couldn't fault anything really. We gave a tip to our favourite staff at the end of the week which I much prefer. Would recommend Majesty. We got off at every port and had more than enough time to see and do what we wanted alone didn't feel the need to book excursions. Clearly everyone associated with the ship wants us all to enjoy our time, they didn't disappoint, they work so hard and their smile remains. Read Less

Food great.....and continuous! Really liked the bike tour option at each destination.....was a great way to look around destination and get to know fellow tourists. Even had stops at bars, markets and beaches where we would lock the bikes up and enjoy time wandering round or swimming .If I had any negatives it was the cost of the bike excursions at ¢£36 each..Also liked the ship size.....not too big,so you could meet someone on board, and run in to them again on another day. Evening entertainment OK, and daily quizzes at poolside good value. Will be back for more Thomson cruises. Flights and embarkation easy and organised....hassle free. The culture on board was very British.......I found this great, and definitely better than the stuffy European culture I've experienced on other cruise lines.most guests were very friendly and easy to get along with. Entertainment staff, and particularly the cruise director Paul are great.Have done cruises with other lines...but none as good as Paul and his entertainment staff. Read Less

This was my husband and my self's first time cruising with a Thomson holiday and the first time on this ship!.Ok so the ship is a bit tired it is an old ship after all but the staff are cleaning relentlessly all over the ship day and night..Our cabin was small basic and clean but had everything we needed in there for our stay even a kettle and tea bags..The housekeeping workers never stop looking after your cabin and every need with fresh towels daily and beds turned every night and were so helpful and friendly!.Workers all over the ship were so friendly and always had a smile and a hello for everyone. The entertainment was "First class" we especially enjoyed "Muzzik Unlimited" they were beyond amazing and we went to the Jubilee lounge most nights just to see them. The Entertainments team/ show team and the other guys work so hard to entertain which they succeeded in doing so in my opinion!...The food was really good and the waiting staff all work so hard how anyone can fault them is beyond me..We had an fantastic holiday on ship went to some absolutely beautiful ports met some fantastic new Friends and we will certainly be booking again again ! We have just returned from our cruise aboard the Thomson Majesty Please take no notice of the negative comments regarding this ship. We can honestly say from the time we boarded in Palma until we disembarked a week later we had nothing to moan about. The ship was very clean & our cabin was cleaned twice a day and kept very tidy by the maid. We eat in several of the restaurants and always found the food very good with an excellent choice. In the buffet restaurant we were well looked after by the manager Angel who could not have done more to ensure that you were satisfied. The all inclusive drinks package is well worth it as a good saving is made on normal prices. The entertainment team were extremely good and the cruise director Paul Evans was excellent always keeping you advised of what was happening. The two bands were also very enjoyable to listen to. We must mention the comedian Phil Doyle who was flown out from UK. He was probably the best we have seen both on previous cruises and in Gold Hotels. The audience loved him and a standing ovation at the end of his performances says it all. The organised trips were value for money and the organisation at the beginning and end of the cruise is done without hassle. All the staff were very pleasant and hard working and always had a greeting when they saw you All in all we would recommend Thomson Cruises to anyone. They are value for money, we'll run and the ships are not to big. You will not believe you are around over 1000 people as it is all very laid back. Thank you Majesty for a very enjoyable time and we look forward to another cruise in the near future Read Less

5 of us settled for this cruise as the itinerary appealed to us all. 12 stops in 14 nights. Flight from Doncaster just over 2 hours and transfer only 15-25 minutes. Throughout the cruise the food and waiter service in the 7 seas restaurant was outstanding. Abdul the maitre d is a great man who oversees everything and everyone. Our main waiter was Matt , a lovely man from the Phillippines, assisted by Wayan and Richard, our wine waiter. All staff were polite and hard working, with special mention to Elizabeth and Manoj at breakfast, plus Gabriel and Beckham in the buffet restaurant. The show team worked hard every evening to produce excellently themed shows. Muzzik Unlimited were the resident band and they also put on a different show each night. Cruise director Paul Evans did his best to keep everything together throughout the ship. However large groups of dare I say , Welsh and Scottish adults chose to sit and talk whilst the shows were on. One lot even sat with their backs to the stage chattering. This ruined evenings for ourselves and lots of other people. It's this lack of respect for the entertainers which ruined our evenings and has seriously put a doubt in our minds regarding booking another Thomson cruise. It's got to that stage. Read Less

This was our second cruise on this ship in 2016 (the first was round the Canaries). Thomson are very efficient in their operations from start to finish. The cruise was vey enjoyable. The food was excellent. We had booked several excursions and we had no complaints regarding them. The staff on the ship were very hard working and friendly. The cabin was very clean and well kept. On this ship there is small restaurant called "Le Bistro". It costs an extra £20 per head to dine here but the extra cost is worth it as the food and service were excellent. There is one night of formal dining but if this is not your thing, then there are other eating places to go. Dinner suits are not compulsory. As we were off the ship at every port, I cannot comment on the daytime activities. The evening entertainment was very good. I would certainly book another cruise on this ship. Read Less

This was the first cruise for 4 out of 5 of our party. We all enjoyed it immensely. Initially we were given a room with a double bed right under the window but this was quickly corrected and our twin room was adequate for the cruise. There is so much to see and do that the cabin is really only for sleeping, showering and dressing. The food was good at breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. Evening meals in both Four Seasons and Seven Seas restaurants were both varied and an excellent standard. The staff on the ship were very professional, helpful and friendly. I could not fault any of them. The whole staff operation ran smoothly and they couldn't do enough to make your holiday enjoyable. Range of bars and entertainment was very good. Choice of drinks on our drinks package (advisable) was top class. Quiet bars for drinks or tea/coffee available. Towels changed twice a day, room tidied twice a day and bedding changed during 1 week cruise. Visited lovely places where you decide what to do either on arranged tour or under your own steam. First cruise but definitely won't be our last. Can't fault Thomsons. Read Less

Could not fault the holiday from the moment we stepped on the plane, to the moment we left to return to England. Will definitely be booking again. The bike rides are a brilliant way to see each island. Table tennis is available in the ship and there is a huge selection of books to read from the library. The selection of restaurants suits all - from formal to informal. The cabin stewards were so lovely - especially Marcel. We stayed in cabin 948 and the views were stunning from the window (never had a cabin with a window before). The room was much bigger than other Thomson Cruise ships - and also included a fridge. Brilliant cruise for a first time cruise! We didn't explore Palma on our first day as we was mainly on the sun deck but wish we would have. Embarking and disembarking the ship was easy every day as it was as simple as finding the gangway on deck 2. The ship overall looks very modern inside and out and is a very cosy ship to be on. The cabin we had was 3033 and this was an inside plus cabin. Very spacious, lots of wardrobe space and was always very tidy from the cabin stewards. Dining was outstanding in every restaurant on-board. We mainly dined in Seven Seas nearly every night as service was spot on with every waiter. We got a table most of the time with Yogi and Widi as our waiters brilliant staff always talking and entertaining. Entertainment on-board the ship was great too. Everyday there was always something to do throughout the day and at night. Through the day they had quizzes and other things going on inside and outside of the ship. At night I would recommend either Royal Fireworks Lounge or Jubilee Lounge as always something going on. Best night was the two nights the comedian Phil Doyle was on. Very funny and made everyone laugh for a long time. The itinerary we was on was the Mediterranean Medley and this was a very good one to choose as the ports varied and there was a lot to do in each location from beaches at Calvi to shopping on Las Rambles in Barcelona. I would recommend getting off at every port to explore as there is a lot to do. Probably better finding your own way as excursions can be pricey. I would definitely go again on this ship as it is very family friendly and a lot more entertaining than other cruise liners. Read Less

Between us, we have travelled all over the world and enjoy the best things in life, and I can honeslty say that i disagree with all of the negative reviews. If you have read them and are worried....don't be. We had a fabulous time. The ship is just about the right size, although we still got lost finding our room on the last day! Not sure how people manage going on bigger cruises. The waiter service resturants were beautiful, I cannot fault the service. We did attend the buffet resturant on one night, but it was a bit too chaotic for us, and we enjoyed being looked after in an evening. I would not reccomend upgrading to the all inclusive drinks package on the ship, we chose not to, as it was expensive, and at the end of the week, we only spend £150 on drinks between us. However that maybe because we are not big drinkers, and made use of the free cold water that was available throughout the day. We also packed a few large bottles ofwater which we kept in the fridge. The entertainment was fab, there was always something to do to keep us busy or out of the shade if we stayed on the ship. Plenty of sunbeds, on deck 7, if the top decks are too busy. We booked an inside plus cabin, which was cheaper at the time, and this appeared to be much bigger than the other people who we spoke to. There was plenty of room for three of us to get ready in, and lets be honest, who goes on holiday to spend all their time in the room??? I certainly dont! The bathroom is small, but it does the job. Rooms were always clean, bedding was always clean....no issues there! All in all, it was an amazing holiday, all the staff were really friendly, polite and couldn't do enough for us. If you go looking for faults, then you will probably find them, but we like to enjoy our holidays and not spend time finding problems when it really isn't necessary! Read Less

First time cruise for us and this will not be the last. We had a great week aboard the Majesty and enjoyed every minute. The staff, food, and entertainment were all excellent. We travelled with our 3 teenage girls who equally enjoyed the whole experience. Thomson really do go the extra mile to ensure you have a great holiday. The double cabin was spotless and the cabin staff a delight, nothing was too much trouble. The dining was flexible and we enjoyed both restaurant and the buffet style and both equally lovely. The ports we visited all had local shops and restaurants to visit if you did not opt for the excursions. Everyone was so helpful and there was a real mixture of ages which made it a real family friendly atmosphere. We upgraded to include a drinks package and this paid for itself. Most drinks were included apart from the odd cocktail and no one on board was drunk or stupid. Thanks for a great week. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the destinations as we wanted to visit many of them. we also chose Thomson because of the size of the ship and the friendliness of the staff. The crew and staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. Nothing is too much trouble and they all work extremely hard and always with a smile. The food is good quality, good choice and plentiful. The four seasons restaurant is lovely and we dinned there most nights. The entertainment was fabulous, but the late shows were just too late for us! We enjoyed the excursions and there were plenty to choose from. My only complaint is that there was too much sun bed saving. People were getting up early and reserving several sunbeds and not using them until the afternoon. Rather annoying and the staff seemed to turn a blind eye to this. Overall the cruise was a wonderful experience. The ship is an older one and needs a bit of an upgrade but it was very clean in all areas. Read Less

We chose Thomson cruises because we were going on holiday with the family (6 Adults and 3 Children). The price was a big factor in our choice and looking for a cruise that would be more child friendly. My partner & i have been on quite a few cruises with cruise lines such as Royal Carribean, Silver Seas, Regent Seven Seas and Celebrity Cruises. We were not expecting the same quality as these lines, but the whole idea of the cruise was to let the children have a good time. On the down side of the cruise, the cabin that we had was very small and admitedly, the decor was quite tired. The cabins for the family however were really good. They were pretty spacious and they both had a fridge in them. Once we had got over the disappointment of the cabin we started to explore what the ship had to offer. We had the drinks packages for all of us. On this ship, the drinks package was very easy to understand. Drinks menus had asterisks next to the drinks that would cost extra. All very simple compared to a lot of the other cruise lines. Although the cabin was disappointing, the cabin stewards were first rate. Always a smile and nothing was too much trouble. On the Sunday each week there was a special offer on laundry - a sizeable bag, washed & ironed for approx 25 euros. No big bags of washing to do when you got home! On the food side of things, there were several choices of restaurant to choose from. We stuck to the same restaurant every night for the first week. The waiters (Manoj & Sumer) were fantastic and the children loved them. We learned that the waiters are rotated between restaurants each week, so when our waiters changed restaurant, we followed them for the second week.We had to leave behind a fantastic wime waiter (Katut) but had an equally friendly wine waiter in the next restaurant (Gabriel). The food was lovely, not over complicated and fancy like may other cruise lines. Anything that you wanted that was not on the menu was no problem, if they had it - you got it. The ports we visited were all interesting. We arrived and docked on time every port. Shuttle buses were there if you wanted to go out on your own. We did four excursions together and each one was really good, reasonably priced and well planned. Top marks for that too. Finally, most evenings we spent sitting on the top deck as the weather was so good and the children just wanted to run around and have fun. However we did go to the Theatre one night and it was very enjoyable. My partner has described this cruise as "Butlins at its best on water" , and I have to say that its a good way of describing it. The poolside entertainment during the day was great for the younger ones. plenty of fun & games and music. Overall we were really shocked at how good this cruise was compared to the much more expensive cruise lines. We have already been looking at the possibility of a future cruise for the two of us with the Thomson line. Read Less

Selected Thomson on advice from friends and family for our first cruise. We had the drinks package which was excellent value. We booked online and did read some poor, reviews before booking and some awful ones later. How wrong we were to accept them. There is nothing we could suggest to improve on what was a truly wonderful holiday. I briefly summarise:- The Ship. Not the tired rust bucket I was promised, indeed I was pleasantly surprised how well she looked considering her age and exposure to the elements. No impressive features to dazzle the guests but what did impress was the almost constant polishing and cleaning. Majesty presents well. The two main pools were small, but adequate, we didn't check out the kids pool area. At 40,000 tonnes, she is a small ship but punched above her weight being well laid out. Always found seats on pool deck, and sunbeds when required. Cabin. Standard outside, yes small but we adapted and found it more than adequate with a comfy bed and compact but functional shower room. Very clean and well serviced. Dining. Excellent all round. We didn't try the a la carte as Seven Seas and Four Seasons provided a very good selection and variety. The two buffets were perfect for breakfast and lunch (if onboard) but I had to decline the excellent afternoon scones after the first day. Just too much. No matter the time, we were always seated on arrival for dinner, we always shared a table. No flex on gala (Capt.) night which had 6.30 or our choice - 8.15 sittings. Entertainment. Spectacular show team, marvellous resident band and talented solo singers in the bars. Good family entertainment around the pool during the day. We didn't try the Fireworks show lounge or disco. A tipple on deck before dinner, a glass or two in the Observatory at sunset and a show in the Jubilee show lounge was for us, the perfect evening. The first night sail away party was good fun with what must have been every passenger up there on the pool deck. What a night. Service. Excellent, only once did we wait for drinks and that was at shift change (3pm). Cold water and ice available on the pool deck 24/7. Ports. We chose the itinerary - therefore the ship - which had no days at sea and a selection of beaches to hit.. Our favourite was Palamos. Trips not our thing so can't comment. We have already booked our next cruise, with Thomson of course, we're trying a different ship but will return to Majesty before she moves on. On reflection, our fellow passengers contributed much to our experience. Everyone was so friendly and the enjoyment was almost infectious. A really happy ship. I hope you enjoy her as much as we did. This was our first family cruise and we chose Thomson Majesty. Upon arrival we thought the cabins were a bit smaller than preferred, but this isn't a great issue as barely any time is spent in the cabin anyway. In hindsight we would book a larger cabin when we (almost certainly) book again with Thomson Cruises. The ship was cleaned thoroughly virtually 24/7, all staff worked remarkably hard and were extremely polite. We only tried one of the restaurants which was on deck 10 - Marco Piazza. The restaurant manager was very friendly and always more than helpful, the food was great too, with a different selection to choose from daily. The service of the staff was also extremely good. There was always a wide range of activities and shows going on through-out the day (Not able to comment on these as we didn't get involved with them). We only booked one excursion with Thomson which was Rome on your own, i would definitely recommend this to all people who are visiting that port. As well as the 'hop-on, hop-off buses' which are available almost everywhere in the city, it gives you the opportunity to see all the landmark/sightseeing musts. Read Less

this was our 4th cruise with Thompson we choose them as we always feel we get value for money from our 1st day we really started to enjoy ourselves as embarkation ran very smoothly and our cases were at our cabin before us enabling us to unpack and change into our swimwear before exploring the ship. we had lunch and then went to deck 10 for a bit of sunshine and our 1st cocktail of the day, while at the bar we were surprised to be recognised by the barman who had served us 6 years ago on a different ship and warmly welcomed us and he even remembered our names. any staff that we came in contact with were very polite cheerful and helpful nothing was to much trouble for them . the food was plentiful and I can honestly say every dish we had was beautiful resulting in a 4lb weight gain when I returned home. we had an inside cabin and found it adequate and comfortable and clean for the duration of our cruise as we only used it for sleeping and getting washed and changed so if your looking a hotel sized room book a suite. I would recommend Thompson cruises to anyone and have done so in the past my only tip would to buy the drinks package when booking your holiday thanks to all staff and crew on the Thompson majesty for making my holiday memorable. Having enjoyed 3 Thomson cruises over the years immensely, we booked with one of the other companies and sailed with them on one of the multi story ships. It was with huge relief that we returned this year to the Thomson family. It did not let us down..again. The Majesty is aged but full of character and the fact that the cleaning was relentless by the staff more than made up for the little chips on basins, window frames etc. She's an old ship....that is her charm. Thomsons staff are in a league of their own, so friendly, polite and always willing to go the extra mile. The Captain of the ship is immensely proud of all of his staff and during the occasions when the staff paraded on the stage and were introduced by the Captain...and not only officers but engine room staff, maintenance crew, bar, restaurant etc etc....most of us had a tear in our eye as he spoke about them. The entertainments team are like a little family within the family, they work and rehearse non stop to provide day and evening activities and the show team presented first class shows with every one of the team being worthy of appearing on the west end stage. The male classically trained singers blew us away night after night. We divided meal times between the restaurant service and the self service buffets. Both served excellent food but as the week went on we preferred to just pick out what we wanted in the buffet rather than sit through all of the courses. It was open dining in the restaurants , we found sitting with a different group of people interesting initially but then very tiring - repeating and answering the same questions! We would have preferred set times with set tables..but no matter, that is why we retired to the top deck to eat. We had chosen this cruise for it's destinations and we were not disappointed. Palma, Corsica, Sicily, Menorca, Rome and Sorrento. We booked two excursions, one in Sicily tasting wine and nougat and the Rome express. This was a long, long day..10 hrs, but did include lunch. The 40 degrees probably didn't help! But a visit to Rome definitely not to be missed. We had an interior cabin and had picked 4031 due to it being on the end and under reception area etc. We were more than happy with the cabin which was kept spotlessly clean by our hardworking cabin staff....who also surprised us most nights with the little creative towel animals they made! This ship is not a luxury ship...for that you can try the new multi storey ships and yes..there are areas that need attention...so don't go on there if you can't see past this. We will never leave Thomson again , we don't want large or completely over sized and impersonal, we will stick with small, friendly and personal. Read Less

This was our first cruise and, I must say, that after reading some of the reviews, I went on this holiday with some trepidation! Why did I listen to the moaners?!!! The Majesty is a delight - coming on a bit, but aren't we all?!! All the crew, from the Captain down to the boys polishing the many handrails (which they were always doing) were so courteous and friendly. The food was fantastic. The waiters - lovely. We stayed in an outside cabin on Deck 4. OK, it would have been nice if it were a little bigger, but we knew the measurements before we booked and chose not to pay the extra for a larger cabin, so that was that. How long are you in the cabin for anyway and no matter what size cabin you have, we all see the same entertainment, eat the same food, etc. We did not have a painted toilet seat, nor did we have holes in our sheets, or grey towels!!!! Our cabin was kept spotlessly clean. The entertainment team were absolutely fantastic. We particularly enjoyed the Queen Tribute, and the Songs from the Shows. They sang and danced their hearts out. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our first cruise and can't wait to try another! Please don't worry if you have booked on The Majesty, you will meet some lovely people and have a great time, I'm sure. Read Less

The flights from Edinburgh was excellent, the embarkation ran smoothly. They all enjoyed their first experience in cruising. The cabins could have done with being a little bigger but it did the job. The dining room staff was excellent esp the staff in the Four Seasons restaurant, everybody from our wine waiter called Preach to our waiters named Fryann and Yankee and Head waiters Stephan and Aerial, they were excellent and entertained us all everynight and made us feel so welcome. Ports and shore excursions were covered so well, with tours everyday or you could just hope in waiting taxis. I would definitely recommend this ship or any thomsons cruise liners for the future. thank you the crew and staff that made our holiday complete Read Less

Cruised with Thomson last year so decided 2 do another 1 as its great having everything included. The cruise its self was perfect with good food great entertainment and very pleasant staff who would always try and help you and waiting time for food and drink was very little,i couldn't fault my holiday and I also spent a week on land and had a great time in another Thomson hotel. The entertainers deserve a big mention as they put some effort into 2 shows a night and also we had a new resident band when we got there and they were excellent, cabins a little small but you don't exactly spend much time in them, the ship kept very clean and tidy, the a la carte rest is worth a visit with about 9 courses and all very tasty and well presented, the staff are a credit to there captain and deserve a big mention as cant be easy been so long at sea and away from family, thanks for a super holiday. My wife and myself have been on many cruise liners but never with Thomson however, we was offered a great deal by our local travel agent so we thought we would give it a try and so pleased we did. On arrival we was greeted by some lovely staff who ushered into a quick queuing system and then was given our cabin number (which we had paid for in advance) and our cases arrived swiftly afterwards. We had a quick safety drill which seemed straight forward and soon after we then could continue with our holiday. We ate most nights in the Seven Seas where the food was ample, hot and delicious and the staff could not do enough for you. Occasionally we ate in the buffet restaurant which we found again great food, i really do not understand how people can complain as there was a wide range of choice and again food was served hot. My wife wanted to go watch the entertainment and i must admit i thoroughly enjoyed these shows, especially Africa and Westend Wonders, These dancers were so talented that myself and my wife ended up watching the shows each night before retiring to the Rendezvous bar where we then would sometimes listen to a lovely man called Ben singing. This man was so talented and again we both relaxed with a lovely glass of wine listening to his great voice. One night in particular a very young small girl came and sang with Ben, where had this talent been hiding??? When i asked who this young girl was apparently she was a dancer from the show team. Thomson do have some excellent young talent amongst this ship. The bar staff was very attentive and was always coming and asking us if we would like another drink when they saw our drinks were low. Our cabin was very spacious, a lot bigger than what we expected so this was another added bonus for us and our lovely ladies who looked after our room could not have done enough for us. We both thoroughly enjoyed the ports in particular we enjoyed Villafranche where myself and my wine just sat and dined and watched the world go by. Yes it is rather expensive but we found it very picturesque and worth every penny. With all this in mind we will defiantly be returning, hopefully in September and we are both looking very forward to it. As i said before we have been on many different cruise liners but we have found Thomson's the friendliest and the entertainment and service the best we have ever come across and would like to thank all the staff for making my wife's and myself s holiday perfect. Well done. Read Less
