As first time cruisers we have nothing to measure it against, all I can say is that we really enjoyed ourselves, yes the Ship is looking a bit tired in places, but considering the Price Paid we think it was brilliant value, for less than £130 per day per person, you get a flight to and from Majorca and a 7 day cruise (inc the Drinks package) We found the staff (as it was a UK only customer base) super friendly, hard working and a pleasure to deal with. ( we didn't treat them like slaves ) The food available as a help yourself buffet ( as in most holiday Hotels ) offered a very good choice, in the evenings we always dined in the 2 Waiter service Restaurants ( really good service and a reasonable choice on the menus) great quality in our opinion. The Cabins ( we went for the very cheapest ) were ok compact but we only intended sleeping in there so was more than adequate. The entertainment team worked really hard with a different show every evening, and were without doubt offering a better evening compared to that available at a typical 4* Hotel on land. No tipping is required for the staff, everything is charged to your Card account so it's a cashless Cruise Of course you also get to see 7 different places On a quick calculation on looking at our end of Cruise statement I think we had approx £450 worth of drink between us ( compared to typical U.K. Drink prices £3.80) So in respect of comparing it to a typical 4* Holiday Hotel in our Opinion this wins easy. We were delayed a little at Palma airport ,(as expected,) The transfer from airport to ship was quick & efficient & we were given all information ..our cabin was lovely ,clean& well stocked. The buffets are always well staffed & the breakfasts & lunches have a good variety the staff are always ready to help if needed..I prefer evening meal waiter service & Im never disappointed either with the food or the fantastic staff they really make holidays special ,Moss,Fonsie,Elton,Ariel & the others helped make my birthday memorable. The Taylor & Jack & entertainment staff put on some great shows Moulin Rouge was really good ,the guest comedian was very funny , It would be nice to have a bit longer in some of the ports & the excursions are a little expensive but well organised . I've cruised 17 years with Thomson & cruised on Majesty in June & am going on it again in Oct , to say a very, very sad 'bye bye' to the ship and all the lovely fantastic crew ,maybe they will be on Discovery 2 next year.. My husband and I chose this Cruise as our very first Cruising experience. We chose Thomson because of previous recommendations from friends and family. We chose this particular ship because of the fabulous places to visit. From start to finish we had a fantastic experience. A great on boarding experience. We were escorted to our cabin and our bags were delivered at the same time which was great. We were welcomed with a bottle of champagne and chocolate strawberries which was a lovely touch and very gratefully received. Whilst our cabin was small, it was exceptionally clean and met our needs in every way. Our housekeeper Tanya was amazing. Went out of her way to give us a great experience. No task for her seemed too much trouble. The towels in the room were so nice... Read Less

Wanted to try a cruise and the travel agent recommended this one to us. Embarkation and disembarkation was well organised. We had an outside cabin on floor 3. Cabin was small but had everything we needed in it. Has a hairdryer. You have one plug in the cabin that takes European convertor. Enough drawers and hangers. We used the dining rooms to eat in. The Seven Seas and the Four Seasons. Really enjoyed sharing a table with others. Great way to meet others. Food was really good. Staff really friendly. Two small pools on deck 10. The entertainment each evening was very professional, so very very good. We used the train to get to Nice, don't follow signpost when you get off tender at Villafrance. Walk along seafront and up the steps to the station. 3.60euros return to Nice and 6 euros return to Monaco. We did Pisa by bus, courtesy bus drops you off near tourist information, they will direct to bus. If you get there early enough you can get a train before 945am. After ten there is a wait for next one. Had a lovely morning in Corsica. There is a free bus to Marseille just a short walk off the ship, otherwise the ship offers a bus for 6 euros return. A small train takes you up to the Notre Dame de La Garde Church. Lovely views of Marseille from the top. Everything and everyone on this cruise was great, only one thing for us was a rough crossing from Marseille to Barcelona this put us off going again. Read Less

We read the reviews on this website re: this ship, just before our cruise started, with some concern, so much so that we had very low expectations. We were pleasantly surprised to find that we had nothing to worry about. We really enjoyed the cruise, and we had no complaints. I think people who complained about the ships need to consider how much they paid for their cruise, and whether it was value for money, particularly when comparing against other cruises. We paid £1,500 each for 2 weeks in an inside plus cabin (which is a little bit more spacious than a standard cabin, and has a small fridge). This included return flights to/from Palma from the UK, airports transfers, the two weeks cruise, with an all inclusive drinks package thrown in, and also included tips. The staff working on this ship could not have been more helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was good and varied, and the restaurants and buffet areas were clean and well-managed. The cabins were clean, and serviced twice a day by the housekeeping staff. Our fridge was old and didn't have any shelves, but it was ok to keep bottles of water and cans of coke cool. The all inclusive drinks package included branded items, such as John Smiths Beer, Guinness, Gordons gin, Bacardi, Smirnoff vodca, various other brands and some cocktails, though for some brands such as Jack Daniels there was a small supplement. Bottled water was not free, though ice cold water was available free of charge from containers in the buffet restaurants. Re: the entertainment, there were some really good shows from the Thomson Entertainment team, and some good comedians, and various other activities. Yes some areas of the ship are well worn, but even though Thomson will no longer be using it after November they are still continually making improvements. During our stay some areas of the boat were being re-painted, and many of the sunbeds were replaced with new ones. If you've got a cruise booked on this ship, don't worry about negative reviews. Go with an open mind, and I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time, like we did. Read Less

Going on a cruise has been on my "bucket" list since visiting the port at Palma de Mallorca 12 years ago. My husband decided that the occasion of my 60th birthday was right for a surprise cruise as a present. He couldn't have chosen better than the Thomson Majesty. From embarkation to our final day, we had a fantastic holiday. We arrived at the Majesty embarkation centre straight from the airport, which has a transfer time of 20 minutes by coach. We arrived at a busy time with several coaches arriving at the same time, so embarking was busy, but very well organised. We explored the ship instead of visiting Palma, and there is a orientation tour of the Majesty that can be done, but we just enjoyed getting lost onboard for the first hour! One pleasing aspect for me was that since ceasing smoking a few years ago, and I now use a vape, vaping is permitted in the Polo Lounge and Casino, which meant I could enjoy my vape without having to be on the Sun Deck with smokers. We dined in all of the restaurants except the Bistro which carries a supplement. We preferred the Four Seasons to the Seven Seas, as the Four Seasons is smaller, although both restaurants have the same menus each day. The restaurants are run front of house with a Maitre d', who runs the restaurant staff with a rod of iron! The menus were varied with vegan, vegetarian, meat, fish and seafood available every day. The dress code is smart casual, and gentlemen are not permitted to wear shorts at evening dinner. There is the Captain's Gala Night in the Seven Seas, with two sittings, and the invitation is delivered to your cabin. We understand that the Gala Night is usually the evening of the day at sea. Dress code is smart to formal, and we enjoyed wearing our evening wear for this one. There is a buffet restaurant on Deck 10, where the dress code is smart casual, and shorts are allowed. The buffet restaurant has a chef's corner, where there is a different cooking method going on, or a carvery. We generally found that the standard of food very good, and the restaurants were spotlessly clean and well run. We attended only a few of the entertainments onboard, as we found that we made so many friends, the time simply flew by, and we were too late to go!! One thing we did note - every one of the staff greeted their passengers, and this friendly attitude rubbed off on every one else, which made for a lovely, friendly relaxed atmosphere. We have never found this at hotels. There was a medical incident onboard, which necessitated the need for one of the auditoriums to be evacuated whilst the medical team did their jobs. The Polo Bar flooded with guests, but the professional manner in which the staff dealt with this was very impressive. We watched the Bar Manager at his best, and bar waiting staff just appeared from nowhere, and the situation was coped with admirably. There is a gym on Deck 7, which we did not use, and a late disco as well. There is a very good Wellness Centre, and I had a full body hot stone massage, which was well worth the money. As this was our first cruise, we decided to have a private photo shoot. We negotiated a good price, and the photographer did a good job. There were some not so mobile guests on board, and | noticed that they were well catered for, including wheelchair user friendly areas. The Sun Deck on Deck 10 did get busy, and I did not notice any towel reserving of the sunbeds. We had mixed feelings regarding the excursions. We booked our excursions before the cruise, as we felt that we did not want to miss out on anything, which we would if we tried to go it alone. The Villfranche - Monaco trip was a transfer by tender to the shore, and the young lady we had was first class. She lived in Nice, and was very passionate about the area. Our next trip was to Pisa, just the morning trip as the Florence and Pisa one was a 9 hour day! Our guide was Italian, and just fired facts at us, and silence for the rest. I think I overthought the trip to Pisa, as I felt a bit let down, as it was just the leaning tower, cathedral and a baptistry. We wanted to visit the cathedral, and had to queue for a ticket, and then we couldn't visit until 45 minuted after we had to muster for the coach. The port was industrial, as one would expect, perhaps I had too high an expectation on this one. The port in Corsica was by tender, and was a bit choppy, with some guests cancelling their trip due to the weather for which they had a full refund. The excursion in Corsica for us was the wine tasting in the mountains of the island, and it was very good. The winery gave everyone on the coach a gratis bottle as well!! The guide knew her stuff, and was very informative. We were diverted next from Marseilles, due to bad weather and the French election taking place, so we went to Mahon, Menorca. The port here is a well known beautiful port, and as we had been to Mahon before, we went it alone, and used a road train that runs a circular tour around the town. A choppy night was to come, and we woke the next morning in beautiful Barcelona. The Segrada Familia is a must to see inside, and our guide was excellent. Can I just say, that if your guide tells you to meet at a certain point at a certain time, it is to keep the tour on time, so please adhere to it. We wasted time because of this. Last day was back at Palma, and the end of our lovely trip around the Med. We thoroughly enjoyed this holiday, the only gripe I have is that bottles of water are NOT part of the drinks package, and it was €1.40 for a bottle. I felt that this was wrong, even night clubs will give you water, it is a basic element of staying safe in the heat. We would book Thomson again in a heartbeat, and don't hesitate to book on an older, smaller ship like the Majesty. Read Less

I have rated this cruise a 5 rating for several reasons. It may not be luxurious or swish but where it lacks on that front it more than makes up for in friendliness and fun. Staff were really helpful and just couldn't do enough for you. Plenty of them in bars, restaurants reception and throughout the ship making service impressive. Food variety was sufficient and flavours were delicious. Everything was cooked to a high standard and available 18 hours a day. We had an outside cabin on deck 7. Plenty of space and ample storage. We were three adults sharing a cabin and there was no problems. Cabin stewards looked after us throughout the cruise. Plenty of entertainment and activities throughout. The jubilee lounge is quite small in comparison to other ships but the 10 strong show team put on a brilliant show every night. Everyone worked really hard at making your holiday enjoyable. Throughout our 11 days we never met one person aboard who was negative about this ship. Best value for money I have had in years. Would definitely sail on her again Read Less

This was our first cruise so i can only comment on this experience. I was very disappointed when i read bad reviews on tripadvisor and slightly concerned what i had booked. We had a great time on the majesty the staff went out their way to help very friendly. The entertainment was very good We had an outside delux cabin on deck 8 couldn't fault it,cleaners in twice a day. We used the seven seas restaurant for our evening meals the service was first class and the food was excellent. We never had to wait for a table more than a couple of minutes you can eat and drink all day if you wanted. Any one that is thinking of booking please dont worry,i would imagine most of the people that put bad reports have been on much bigger and more expensive ships. At the end of the day you get what you pay for i have stopped in 5 and 7 star hotels all over the world and i felt the staff made you feel that you were in that type of standard. Read Less

This is our second Thomson cruise and as the first one we loved it. The staff were very friendly. Food was good. The ship isn't anywhere near as bad as some reviews are suggesting!! Evening shows in the Jubilee Lounge were ok but the singing left a lot to be desired at times. U.K. Guest comedian was very funny (Carl Schoulfield) but we were glad we weren't sat in the front row. Day 1 flight to Tenerife to board the Majesty in Santa Cruz Day 2 Las Palmas Gran canaria, we had a wonder around on our own as we have been to this island before. Day 3 Santa Cruz De La Palma, Island tour on a land train which wasn't very exciting. Day 4 Funchal Maderia, booked trip on cable car and batanical gardens, very good but would have been a lot cheaper to do off your own backs. Day 5 A day at sea. Day 6 Agadir Morroco, Fantasia show was good, then a trip to the souks which was a night mare being bombarded by people trying to get you into their stalls, we had an hour there but got back on coach after 15 minutes which a lot of people did the same. Day 7 Arrecife Lanzarote, Booked a trip on a submarine which was fantastic we went down 30 metres with 3 ship wrecks and hundreds of fish to see. Day 8 Back in Tenerife for our very very long journey home. This was the only bad point of the holiday, our flight had been delayed due to technical problems on the plane in Bristol, so passengers had to be driven by coach to Gatwick to board the spare plane but due to M4 closure made even more of a delay. We were not told any information during our 11 hour wait at the airport, it was a case of once in terminal Thomson washed their hands with you, it wasn't their problem!!! only way we knew was a fellow passenger was phoning home to be told by her mother what was happening. We should have flown at 4.45 pm but ended up flying at 00.40 am. Read Less

This was our first cruise and we was not disappointed. We had cabin numbers 821,804 and 806 two of which had balconys, and they were clean and also cleaned throughout the day, the ladies who cleaned our cabin was excellent. We arrived late Sat evening and as we boarded the ship the staff could not do enough for you from start to finish, always had the time to chat to everyone ( but I do think Thomsons could sort out better flight times going out because we didn't get on ship till 8pm ish, I Know we left the ship late the following sat but we had to pay to keep cabin on till 5pm which I didn't agree with as we lost the previous sat) When we arrived on the Sat by the time we got our cabins and done life jacket drill the only place we could eat was Buffet Bar, and after travelling all day did not think this was brilliant. After this we ate in other 2 restaurants which was really nice and the food was great. We ate in the Bistro 1 night which you pay £20 each for this I would def recommend the food was amazing. Entertainment was really good, but only quibble would be, the comedian who I must say was brilliant was on 2 new nights and feel that this was not acceptable. We booked 2 trips first was Maderia Cable Car which we paid £50 each for, thus was to expensive as you could have walked there and paid €10, so I felt we were overcharged, but if you do do it you must come down on the Tobaggon ride it's fantastic. We also got the coach to Puerta del Carmen (£18) each, again you could have got a bus for about €5, but as this was our first cruise we didn't know this. Overall the cruise and service we got was really good, and we will def go again. Read Less

I was looking for a holiday to celebrate my 60th Birthday and I was not disappointed. The Ship is wonderfully maintained by very hardworking crew. The cabin crew kept our cabin 918 clean and well maintained and were on call at any time. It had a bow window and another window lovely and light, settee, coffee table, walk in wardrobe and on suite bath/shower with Elemis shower, shampoo and body lotions. Fresh fruit daily, Bed straightened and linen changed regularly, Evening include the bed turned down and chocolates on the pillows. Tea & Coffee facility in room all supplied with milk and sugar/sweetners. On Deck 9 only drawback was the noise on the first night -party night and early morning when you could hear the tables and chairs/lounges being pulled across the deck. Price to pay for being close to the Pool & Buffet deck. There is 2 seated restaurants, great food and entertainment from the singing waiters, 2 Buffet restaurants on deck 10, full english breakfast, continental, breakfast including ham and cheese, Cereals and fruits, also a Egg station for freshly made omelettes/or egg dishes and another for fresh pancakes and waffles. Full selection for Lunch & Dinner which changed daily included curries, pasta dishes, rice , fries and veg and an extra selection which could be wok cooked dishes or carved meat. You never need to go hungry, something even for my picky husband-plain dishes. Also you have the Bistro extra payment of approx £19.95 very special. you can is the seated restaurants pay extra for T Bone steak(£12.95) lovely. The Entertainment is brilliant with two main shows nightly - fantastic singers and dancers everyone puts in 100%. Africa show needs to be seen and their own group Mussik unlimited are full of life and wonderful voices. You can see them individually playing, guitars, pianos or singing at the many different venues onboard. Deck 9 has the quietest bar which has a piano easily accessible from our cabin. The SANA SPA needs to be visited as it a peaceful oasis with hairdressing and body(massages)- hot stones was fantastic. You can book a jacuzzi for a really indulgent treat. It was a treat after being out and about on the excursions, very relaxing. You can also book a photo shoot from the staff who take the photos as you join the cruise and in restaurants and excursions. Great for those on honeymoons or celebrating something special. The excursions have very informed guides and are fascinating to see the various islands, We enjoyed Madeira Cable car and botanical gardens, Fire mountain and Catamaran trips. Ports had plenty of ways to see the islands from Tuxzi's, taxis and buses- just visit the destination desk near reception. If you are celebrating you can book some special things at the celebrations desk. The Newspaper also has announcements and information on the ports. Timings for all the shows, arrivals in port and departures, times for food and bar opening times Read Less

This was our first cruise and we really couldn't fault anything. From booking in the Louth branch of Thomson with the wonderful help of Sophie, to arriving back home it all went like clockwork. We had chosen an outside cabin and I have to say I'm very thankful we did. If you can afford it I highly recommend a cabin with a window, or even with a balcony. We did find the air conditioning very drying and my husband felt like he had a cold, whereas if we had a balcony we could have opened the door for fresh air. ALL the staff on the ship were so amazingly friendly and happy, and as the cruise was 'tips included' it wasn't as it they were being falsely friendly for a tip. The wonderful couple who cleaned our cabin were so kind and helpful (so they did get an extra tip!) and nothing was too much bother. The bed was very comfortable which was a bonus as so often you stay somewhere with an uncomfortable bed compared to yours at home. The food was amazing and plentiful. We chose not to eat in the waiter service restaurants as we prefer a more relaxed atmosphere and we aren't into 'dressing up'. Someone said to us the choice of food in the self-service was probably better than waiter service and I can only say it was amazingly good and varied. The entertainment was far better than we'd expected. We hadn't planned to watch anything, but decided to give it a go and I have to say it was high class entertainment. The singers and dancers were very good indeed and the comedian, Buster, was fantastic. If he's on your cruise then you are in for a treat and do go and watch him, I defy anyone to say he wasn't funny! We went on two excursions and both were very good indeed with good tour guides on both. One was in Madeira, which is a pretty island, the other Lanzarote, it was a trip to the north of the island which was so much nicer than the port. I would recommend going on as many as you can afford as you see so much more than shops and cafes. Everything went like clockwork. The ship sailed when it was due to, and any transport was right on time, either excursions or transfers to and from the airport. Although we had a smashing time and we have booked to go to the Fjords in June, I'm not sure we are 'cruising people'. Absolutely nothing Thomson did was wrong, it was us finding the time as sea a little limiting and finding we spent far too much time eating and drinking! We are used to doing a little more on our holidays, but we did manage to adapt and relaxed nicely. Our next cruise we have a cabin, so will avoid the drying air con, and we drive to the port rather than fly, which will be far easier. If you've never cruised but feel you'd like to try it I would highly recommend Thomson as they are laid back on board and there is a very relaxed atmosphere. Go on, give it a go!!! Read Less

Please do not go by other ratings. We boarded the ship and were well looked after from start to finish. The crew were amazing so friendly and so helpful. We really enjoyed the entertainment team lead by Taylor, great fun. We really enjoyed the choice and quailty of the food. We did have a hiccup by hubby going down ill with tummy problem and we were confined to cabin but that was understandable as there are 2000 people on board. we missed the captains night and getting off at Madeira which was unfortunate. However one comment was made that they never saw the captain well I didn't want to see him as he had a job to do and being on deck wasn't the place to do it. Our cabin was fine well maintained and kept beautiful clean by the cabin stewards Heindy and Julus. All in all total value for money, really enjoyable and can't wait to go again. This ship will be changed the end of the season to the Thomsons Dream I can't wait to go on it and will be booking as soon as we are back in the Uk. Read Less

We have travelled with Thomson many times before, Celebration, Destiny this was our first time on the Majesty and we could not fault it in any way. From start to finish every part of our holiday was handled guickly and efficiently from check in at Manchester right through to our return excellent! Whilst the ship itself is not a modern all singing all dancing one I.e not like the modern ones, although why anyone would want a climbing wall on a ship escapes me. We found the ship to be in a very good condition nothing like some of the reports on various review sights. Our cabin no 6029 was across ship, very large lovely bathroom comfortable beds and everthing you could need. We dined in the seven seas restaraunt, food was great, one thing that concerned me was the open seating but I was suprised how much we enjoyed this meeting different people each meal time. Portions more than adiquate, some people in their reviews have said portions are small, untrue, if you want more the waiters will bring you more or you can then go to self serf and have more. Entertainment was very good and the team puts a lot of effort into making sure you have a good time. Service on bord is first class in all respects, waiters and bar staff are on the go all the time. As we did live in the Canaries for a number of years we tended mostly to stay on board. Only complaint I would have is with fellow passengers who leave towels on loungers, remember it is passengers who do this NOT cruise staff. Finally having travelled with various cruise lines including Celebrity and Royal Carrabean we still prefer Thompson. Read Less

we have just returned from a 7 day cruise around the canaries and madeira, I have been on 2 cruises with Thomson and really enjoyed them. this was just as good, my sister has not cruised before but she too enjoyed it. the embarkation process was satisfactory, our cabin had 2 births which were comfortable, better than many hotels ive stayed in!, plenty of draw space, the bathroom was very small but did the job. the staff are very friendly and mostly eager to please.the food wasvery good although, as in many buffets cool at times, the have fresh cooking stations were your food is made to order, we enjoyed Asian and pasta specials. we mostly ate in the buffet, but did eat in the waiter service restauraunt which was lovely, you are encouraged to sit with other people which encourages conversation! you would have to be extremely fussy not to find something you like.the entertainment was varied with a lot of choice including a good quality show and comedian. The excursions are well run and the guides are very informative, we did 2 trips and in some ports did it under out own steam, we loved the fact all tips were included, yes the ship is dated but has character, know this ship is going next year and Thomson have got newer ones, just hope they don't get too big and impersonnel, looking for my next cruise!! We sailed on Thomson Celebration on our first cruise and thoroughly enjoyed it. Set sail on Majesty for a week in December 2016 from Las Palmas. The ship was very clean and very well maintained. Always staff around cleaning and painting the outside of the ship (obviously at a port!) and on promenade deck the day new people were arriving. Checking in on the ship took too long and wasn't until 2 staff members saw a crowd of people (no organisation) waiting to check in that they stepped in and opened up 2 more computers. Actual check in only took a few mins. Our cabin was slightly smaller than The Celebration but it had everything you could possibly need and beds were comfy. Love the turn down service and clean towels in the evening! We had an outside plus on promenade deck. We dined in Le Bistro (a cover charge) twice as it was such a cosy, intimate restaurant and the 6 courses were very tasty. The two waiter service restaurants were very good, food could have been a little hotter, which was a general comment. We were happy on a table for 2 or 4, if there were no two's. There is a buffet restaurant for breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner which was also very good with great views and another buffet where you could sit in or out. Staff excellent and always there to help. Excursions were very enjoyable, Finchal is beautiful and lush, really enjoyed the cable car. Also La Palma a beautiful place. Agadir was interesting especially the market where we were taken around which was huge! Entertainment was enjoyable, good to get in half an hour before shows start to reserve a good seat and have a drink or two! Disembarkation at different ports very smoothly run, coaches outside if you were on an organised trip. Yes the ship is ready for retirement, and the cabin decor is dated, but the ship is spotless in the public areas. The staff are very polite and attentive and always had smiles on their faces and couldn't do enough for you. Everywhere on the ship, hand gel machines were evident and staff at the restaurants squirted gel on hands before entry was allowed so any norovirus was down to the ignorant people who couldn't be bothered to use basic hygiene and wash hands before touching food. It was a regular thing to see staff cleaning the stair rails and hoovering the carpets at midnight. The ship had been in dry dock for 3 weeks prior to this cruise and for the first few days there were teething problems, water not heating up, warm food etc. but when brought to their attention, staff quickly rectified the problems. The entertainment was first class in the Jubilee Show lounge and the party band Muzzik Unlimited certainly got the crowd going where ever they played. But the resident band Status had to be seen to be believed. From the vocalist Sarah who had a lovely voice to Lee the guitarist who must be the most talented guitarist I have listened to ( and I have seen some of the biggest bands since the sixties). There was always something for everyone to do irrespective of age group or even laze about if that was what you wanted. So this is one cruise I was very pleased with, so if anyone reads negative reviews about the Majesty my advice is go with an open mind and you will probably be pleasantly surprised. Read Less

This was our 1st cruise with Thompsons and having read the reviews were slightly apprehensive. All staff were cheerful and extremely helpful. The cabin, although small with an outside window was spotlessly clean, with fresh towels daily. I asked for gluten free meals and all the staff in all 3 restaurants could not have been more helpful. We went on 2 Thompsons excursions which were well organised and for the rest of our stops we made our way independently. All the places we visited were lovely with gorgeous scenery and places of interest. We had plenty of time without rushing to explore at each of our stops. We didn't go to the entertainment every night, but the shows we did see were very entertaining and professional. The only downside was wish we had booked for 2 weeks rather than 1! Will definitely be booking our next cruise with Thompsons. Overall an excellent cruise. Read Less

Thoroughly enjoyed our weeks cruise on Thomson majesty. The meals were good lots better than some hotels stayed in. Entertainment very good. 2 shows by Martin Daniels excellent. We had all inclusive drinks package which was great value as several premium drinks included in this. Cabin was small but had everything you needed all in all we really enjoyed the holiday and had nothing to complain about. Must also comment on staff who mostly seemed very hard working and mostly very pleasant. Special mention to our maid Jessica who was so pleasant for all we wondered when she ever slept. She always seemed to be around from early morning to late at night. We only went on one excursion which was in Sicily. Wanted to go on this one to go on cable car but unfortunately this was cancelled due to high winds. Had to go by bus instead. The rest of the ports we just did our own thing which we really enjoyed. This was our first cruise. Had read reviews (good and bad) but can honestly say we found the whole cruising experience excellent. The ship was clean, the cabin was clean, the food was plentiful and the services excellent. Went ashore every day, excursions booked through Thomsons were excellent, yes they may well have cost slightly more but having the knowledge that the ship would wait if you were late back was reassuring. Booked the onboard wine tasting activity for the day at sea - actually enjoyed it, learnt something about wine and actually made me realise that yes, I don't like red wine! All the crew are extremely polite and helpful. We did however witness a member of the crew being admonished by his senior. Even if he deserved it, don't think it should have been done in public. Cabin steward worked like a trojan, bed made by the time we came back from breakfast, bed turned down when we got back to the room at night (looked forward to the chocolate on the pillow of an evening) not to mention clean towels being left daily. We enjoyed the whole experience and within 7 days of returning home have booked another cruise for April 2017 - only reason we didn't book one for earlier was the lack of annual leave from work!! Thomson “Catalan Promise” 8 day cruise aboard the Thomson Majesty. Just returned from this cruise. We booked this on an offer price and were very impressed with the whole package, flights, ship, entertainment, drinks package, itinerary, etc. Booked an outside cabin, deck 3, for a change (we usually have the cheaper, inside cabins) which was nice, with an unobstructed view and kept spotlessly clean by our stewards. The cabins on the Majesty seem to be a bit smaller than is the case with other ships so be aware if you book a standard cabin. We only use the cabin to sleep and change in any event so it didn’t really matter. Of note, the entertainment team were amazing, the main team of 5 boys and 5 girls performed some incredible shows, probably the best I’ve ever seen. The 5 piece band “Muzzik Unlimited” were equally superb, with a real character of a guitarist who could play anything from Journey covers to Smoke On The Water (Deep Purple, a bit old for some readers but I like it). The other musicians and singers also deserve a mention. Likewise the level of service we received was outstanding, with all staff offering their attention and providing a very rapid service, be it drinks, food or anything else. It must be disappointing when the staff have to read some of the negative comments regarding this ship. The Majesty may be a throwback to the 70’s for some (car strikes, power cuts and 3 day weeks as I recall) but to me, this is a classy older ship, with wooden decks and a bridge with wings. I certainly did not encounter too many complaints from the people I was travelling with, the vast majority of which were enjoying themselves (isn’t that what holidays are about??). All in all, this cruise was great, excellent value for what we paid and an interesting, if not a little diverse, itinerary, allowing us to discover a few places we would not normally have considered, as well as the highlight of the cruise, Barcelona. This is our 4th Thomson cruise, all on different ships. We’ve also cruised with other companies. In summary, Thomson are right up there with the others and give you a good cruise, the staff work hard to deliver excellent service and the overall deal, what we paid for what we got, was good value. Thanks Thomson. Read Less

I have just returned from a 7 night cruise on the Majesty with a friend and my Father. We had our first cruise on the Dream last year, on our return we went straight to the Travel Agent to book this year as we had such a fabulous time. We were a little unsure about going on a different ship but we were not let down, again we had another fabulous time, The entertainment team were excellent, they work so hard and are so friendly, such a credit to the ship. All the staff from the restaurants through to the cabin cleaning staff were so attentive, happy, friendly and could not do enough for you. Our cabin was a great size and spotless. We have already booked for another cruise with Thomson for next year, Greek Islands, we can not wait. Every step of our holiday was brilliant, starting with the fabulous Dreamliner, transfer to the ship, boarding and reaching our cabin Read Less

Just returned after a cruise on the Thompson Majesty. Before booking had read the reviews and thought I had done the wrong thing how wrong could I be. From landing to getting on the ship took one hour. The cabin was spotless plenty of room for our cases and clothes.the cabin was cleaned twice a day with chocolate and animals made out of towels laid on the pillows. Food in all the restaurants was hot with plenty of choices to choose from you could eat from 6.30 till 1.00 all day even cream teas in the afternoon. The staff on the ship are excellent friendly and cannot do enough for you. The entertainment is of a very high standard in all areas of the ship especially in the main show lounge. Ther is music in all bars throughout the night and they cater for every one. For the money paid for this cruise you cannot fault it. The staff, entertainment team, food, housekeeping, cleanliness, are a credit to the Thompson group. I can not wait to board one of your ships again . Read Less
