We chose this cruise as it was her last cruise under Thomson Majesty, before returning to her original owners. After collecting our luggage from the airport carousel the transfer from Malaga Airport to ship was quick and efficient, at the ship our luggage was transported from the coach to our cabin. Registration was quick and efficient taking approximately 5 min. Staff were on hand to escort you to your cabin, which is a nice touch and was always available on the Majesty. Our cabin was clean and ready for our occupation, with all relevant information neatly placed on the dressing table by Maricel and Bill our cabin stewards, lifeboat drill was carried out at 18.30, was informative and completed much quicker than in other Thomson ships we have cruised in. Thomson Majesty has not changed much over the last 5 years, she still shows her age, but is always clean and well looked after, the staff are all pleasant and go out of their way to make your cruise a happy memorable one, even though many did not know what the future held for further employment. As it was her last cruise under the Thomson flag, our local TUI shop expected there would be additional shows and parties, the only additions from normal was (1) a glass of bubbly on arrival at ship, (2) a dress up in colour night, (3) a party in the reception area with cakes, various nibbles, fruit and bubbly, all beautifully set up with ice and fruit carvings, (4) a lovely sail away from Cadiz with large fireworks display on the quay all washed down with as much bubbly as you wanted. We always had breakfast in the Piazza San Marco as we like to have a light breakfast, there was always tea, coffee, fruit juice and cold water, also a large selection of cold meat, cheese, breads, yogurts, fruits, sticky buns, and the full English breakfast selection of eggs (fried scrambled, boiled), sausages, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms, beans, hash browns etc, all nicely presented and kept topped up. Due to doing a lot of trips late lunch was normally in the Piazza San Marco and usually consisted of soup and a pudding. The Seven Sea's Restaurant was our chosen venue for evening dinner, we tend to eat early 18.30 so never found the restaurant full. We always sat at the same table, with Don and Mario as our waiters, they did a marvellous job over the week, tending to our every want, they definitely helped make it a happy memorable cruise. Regardless of our selection the food was always well prepared and presented, not dolloped on the plate like the pub grub we were presented with on the Thomson Dream in September. All shows in the Jubilee Lounge were well performed, especially Killer Queen, having been on the Majesty six times, covering 9 weeks we had seen most of the shows various times, we therefore will not comment as we may be a bit biased. We did a trip in every port:- Lisbon, Panoramic Drive:- A nice easy tour on the legs an informative trip covering the main attractions of Lisbon with plenty of photo stops. Portimao, Quaint Fishing Villages:- Relaxing relatively easy tour to two small fishing villages, which were quiet and relaxing, some lovely views for photo's. Casablanca, Casablanca City Tour:- A real eye opener on how to drive, (heart stopping), covers a walk through open Olive Market, a visit to the exterior of the Hassan II Mosque, the Notre Dame Church and a stop at the Habous Quarter to see the Kings Palace. A good tour for Casablanca information. Gibraltar, World War Two Tunnels:- A relatively easy tour starting with a bus tour around the rock, then off to the tunnels we were informed how the tunnels were dug and where and how the troops lived. Interesting but not for you if you are not interested in world war two. Plenty of time afterwards for duty free shopping. Cadiz, Cadiz & A Taste Of Jerez:- A panoramic tour round Cadiz's old quarter covering most of the main attractions, then off to Jerez to visit a wine cellar (TIO PEPE) where we were given the history of the winery and how the wine and sherry is made, there was vast vaults full of signed barrels (Her Majesty The Queen, Prince Philip, Winston Churchill, to name a few), there was hundreds signed by famous people. We were then taken to a lavish tasting area to sample the sherry, dry, medium (Croft, they have owned the Croft name since 2002) and sweet. I think the sweet was most liked by the group. very interesting if you like sherry. Over all we had another great cruise on a lovely but old ship served by staff happy to do their best to make your cruise a pleasant happy memory. We will be sorry to see Thomson Majesty go, we have many happy memories of the various cruises we have had on the Majesty, especially some of the staff whom we have met on our travels, (Mario our waiter for three cruises), (Hady, waiter on our first and last Majesty cruise), (Grace, drinks waitress two cruises) thanks to you all. In my opinion, having cruised on all of the older Thomson ships, it should have been the Dream that went, it was the worst lay out and the worst food of the lot from a cruiser's view. Read Less

Chose the cruise as a break, flew from local airport to places not been to before. Have been on a few Thomson Cruises with no bother. Staff friendly and helpful. Entertainment good but maybe too loud ( I carry ear plugs at all times in the shows. Food very good for the cruise cost, variety and service good. Did not go to the pricey speciality restaurants. Excursions good specially the Amalfi coast drive. Cruise spoilt by the obstructed views in the outside cabin which we paid a supplement for and we knew it was obstructed but no mention of the fact it was 70% obstructed. If we had known it was that much we would not have paid the extra. Needless to say we asked for a different cabin but was informed the ship was full. The Reception confirmed it was a 70% obstructed cabin. So if they knew why was it not entered in the brochure. Complained to head office on return but fobbed off with the usual standard phrases. I was not asking for compensation for the whole cruise cost just the portion attributable to the extra paid for an outside view. I was not going to ask for a cash refund , a credit note for the portion would have been acceptable. Head office customer sevices were not sympathetic as far as a credit was concerned. They stated I should have phoned the Holiday agent. (phoning from Palma to U.K. )! When nothing could be done as ship was full would have wasted more of my money. Read Less

Just returned from this cruise. We booked this, primarily for the itinerary, particularly as it included Cadiz and Gibraltar. Cadiz is a beautiful city, full of promenades, parks and squares. The walk along the sea wall is very scenic and you can cut into the park, which has a manmade water feature as well as some interesting flora and fauna. The city also has a beautiful gold domed cathedral and a bustling shopping area for those who like that sort of thing. Gibraltar is a strange mix of Britain and Spain. We went to see the siege tunnels, which are very well displayed, both regarding the way they were built and used. Also in the area of the serge tunnels are the World War II tunnels, the Moorish fortress, the military memorial, the siege exhibition and the lime kiln, all of which can be accessed by a blanket ticket costing €10. There were many other places of interest in Gibraltar which we didn’t have time to see during our relatively short stay in port. The ports of both Cadiz and Gibraltar are located adjacent (no more than 10 to 15 minutes walking time at a steady pace) to the towns and both are extremely interesting places to visit. The port at Casablanca is basically a container area and it really isn’t advisable to try and navigate your way out on foot, although I am aware that some of the passengers on our cruise did. It’s probably a 40 minute walk at least and then the actual town of Casablanca is quite spread out. We opted for a Thomson organised tour. At £42 each it was (as usual) expensive, but, to be fair, it did cover a lot of ground and was quite comprehensive, The guide was good and didn’t appear to have any “arrangements” with the local shops regarding bringing tourists in (as we have experienced in Morocco in the past). He was informative regarding what we saw and gave us a good 4½ hour tour. In any event we felt safer on an organised tour. The real surprise was, however, Cartagena. Again, from the port it’s a 5 minute walk into town. It’s a really wonderful place, much larger than we anticipated and, on the Sunday we were there, busy with many locals in town, enjoying Sunday lunch and the open market atmosphere. There is an open top bus tour that lasts 40 minutes at €7 per person which is well worth doing. We also walked up to the castle area to see the amphitheatre. Valencia is about 9km from the port so you will need to use the shuttle bus, taxi or the hop on/hop off service that runs about 400 metres outside of the port area. Valencia is probably not as striking a place as the others, but it still has it’s nice buildings, squares and markets. If you don’t fancy going into Valencia, the actual port area itself is quite pleasant and within waking distance. The port is adjacent to a marina area with bars, restaurants and a beach, all within about a 30 to 40 minute walk dependant on where the ship docks. There is little point in reviewing the ship as it will be leaving the Tui fleet in November. Suffice to say there was nothing wrong with the ship, albeit a little bit frayed around the edges. This is our second time on the Majesty so we were well versed as to its layout and the location of the public rooms. The ships most valuable asset were the staff. The level of service we received was outstanding, with all staff offering their attention and providing a very rapid service, be it drinks, food, cabin service or anything else. I wish them well in the hope they get a continuation of contracts. The 5 piece band “Game of Tones” were also particularly worthy of a mention. In summary, in my opinion, the beauty of this cruise itinerary is that in three of the five ports, you only have to fall off the ship and you are in town. This, coupled with the alternative in Valencia of staying in the marina area if the town doesn’t take your fancy and the genuinely interesting towns and cities that are visited makes it a good cruise, and better that I originally expected. This is our 5th Thomson/Tui/Marella cruise, on 4 different ships. You know what you are going to get with Thomson and the overall deal, what we paid for what we got, was good value. Thanks Thomson (again). We are already booked on the Marella Celebration for next year. Read Less

I chose this cruise for the places to visit and for the time of year. I would like to praise all of the people employed in this ship. In particular we had three amazing waiters at dinner every night. Namely Owen, Dodie and our lovely wine waiter Made. The cleaners of our cabin were Olivia and Brian who could not have done any better and with so much humour and grace. There are too many people to mention, not least names are not always known. There's Pan we met in the morning buffet! Everybody has such warmth and humour. Then, the places to visit, the help one receives to disembark etc. Everything is made so clear. Then, the entertainment. Those singers and dancers are second to none. The comperes, the singer and comedian were wonderful. Need I go on?! Worth every penny and not only that the weather was lovely, too! Thank you Captain, crew and staff. Brilliant. Read Less

After reading some of the reviews, we were a bit worried we had booked the wrong ship, well we had a wonderful surprise, everything on this ship was wonderful. The staff were so friendly and helpful, from cabin staff through to restaurant staff everyone was very polite, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. This was our first cruise with TUI and we will most defiantly be sailing with them again. We had the drinks package which was well worth the money, we found the food superb, always some thing to eat 24 hours if you wanted it. Our cabin was a inside cabin with additional space on deck 4, we slept soundly every single night and woke up fully refreshed every morning. The cabin was quite spacious, we didn't feel claustrophobic at all, the cabin staff kept the cabin spotlessly clean, coming in twice a day to check it out. I would recommend this cruise Mediterranean Melody to anyone, visiting Corsica, Florence & Pisa, Monte Carlo & Monaco, Marseille and Barcelona. Thank you TUI for a unforgettable holiday and birthday. On arrival at the ship we were taken directley to our cabin , shown how to open the door and cases were there already, everything after this was first class , the entertainment was exceptional, the service was unbelievabe and the food oh my god, from fine dining to burger and chips it was all there, the staff were always cleaning berore and after you. the ports we visited were top notch culdnt fault any of them, an information leaflet was left everynight which had information of the next days port you were visiting and what was going on onboard times and places this proved to be very informative. I would and will be recommending thomson cruises to anybody who will listen. I will definatley be using tomsons for my next holidays. Read Less

Group arrangement with14 other people. Laughed from morning to night. Waiters in Seven Seas Restaurant so friendly and welcoming. Our wine waiter Jommel kept everybody's glass topped up and remembered my drink after one night (I don't drink wine). The waiter Gigs is such a good dancer and so many of us ladies enjoyed egging him on. We were then put on the naughty table which we reserved most nights. Good choice of food presented so well and very tasty. Dom made sure we had our orders taken promptly food always arrived so we could all eat at the same time exceptional waiter. Assisted by Mario they work so well as a team. Staff all around the ship were happy which is always good to see and they do work exceptionally long hours. The ship was full I understand but the service in the bars, coffee lounge and even the very busy show room was good. The comedian was hilarious and I am pleased to say his jokes were clean leaving you to come to your own conclusion. Had a really wonderful time liked the ship being smaller than most and can only say my husband and my experience as first timer cruisers was excellent and we are both now hooked on cruises. My husband agrees with all my comments above. Read Less

We`re just back from our Cruise on the Majesty Ship on the 3rd of October. We decided to go on a cruise as it was my 50th Birthday and also our 25th Wedding Anniversary. I have to say everything was first class. when we arrived we where on deck 9 and we had Champagne and chocolate strawberries waiting in our cabin for us. That was the start of our wonderful holiday and from then on we couldn't have asked for anything better. We found the crew to be very accommodating and helpful especially Gerald, Sam and Ronnie in the dining room and Stacey in the Bar area. They where sooo pleasant and helpful. As was Lorreee who cleaned our cabin for us day and evening and she was very thorough. The entertainment was brilliant and something different every night to suit everyone. The house band "Game of Tones" were very good and the girl singing was such a happy/pleasant little lady and really did her best to get everyone to join in and get involved, as did the whole entertainment team. The food was really lovely and there was enough choice to suit all. We have been on a few other cruises with different cruise companies and i must say that our Thomson Cruise is definitely up there with the best of them. If i had one complaint to make it would be that the dining room and the Jubilee Theatre are very, very warm and that they should maybe consider turning the air-con up a little bit. Other than that we would definitely give a big thumbs up to The Majesty and Thomson Cruises. So much so that we are already looking for another Cruise with Thomson next year. :-)) Read Less

Thomson Tui do it right very organized from airport to ship, ship a little dated but good atmosphere. food was good entertainment was of the best standard you would get on any top rated cruise lines if not better and as a seasoned cruiser I would say the entertainers were very talented. lots of places to sit, always able to get a sun bed 2 lovely people keeping the cabin clean and tidy but all the crew seemed very cheerful in whatever their job. it is our 3rd cruise with Thompson and this certainly will not stop us from booking more cruises with them.. Only downsize was the view we had from the cabin window we paid for a window but didn't expect to pay for the only thing we could see out of it which was a lifeboat which completely blocked any view also not informed when booking that it was a restricted view didn't spoil the holiday just hurt my pocket I don't pay for upgrades usually but will be more cautious in the future. This was our first cruise and after reading the reviews of The Majesty we were a bit concerned. After spending a week on board I now wonder what planet these people that are critical are from. The food is delicious, plentiful, well presented and varied. The entertainment from the show team was fantastic. They are beyond talented. Especially Ben Yates but all the team are exceptional. The costumes and variety of shows are impressive. The vocals from all the team are awe inspiring. The crew from the captain down go above and beyond to make this experience as pleasurable as possible. Everyone is greeted with a genuine smile and exceptional service. The rooms are kept immaculately clean and maintenance attend immediately when called upon. The waiting staff are efficient and polite but extremely sociable and happy to share a laugh. The cabin was small but who cares - they are only to sleep in! Congratulations to Thompsons - their customer service training must be first class. Nothing to complain about at all. For anyone who comes on here to write a scathing review, I suggest you return to the real world and remember how fortunate you are to be able to afford the luxury of cruising. We will definitely choose Thompsons for our next cruise. We can't wait. Read Less

Just the places we wanted to see. Returned from the cruise last night. Very impressed with everything and we all enjoyed the cruise. I would recommend that you include a drink package as otherwise the drinks are £4 each. Majesty ship is good but does look old and tired. We had an outside room which had a window but the tender boats had blocked the view. So if you are allocated a room on deck 8 this could be a problem. All staff are very helpful which made the cruise experience memorable. Food was very good, plenty to choose from and plenty to eat at all times. Even the fussiest person would find something to eat. I was nervous about the excursions however here are my recommendations.. Day 1Palma - MajorcaDay We boarded the ship at 3 and just found our way around. Day 2Day at sea We enjoyed the breakfast, shows, lunch and dinner and of course had plenty to drink. Day 3Calvi* - Corsica We got dropped off at the port and Calvi is walking distance. We managed to walk all around and spend time on the beach in 4 hours. We also went to the top of the hill where we saw house of Christopher Columbus. Also at the same time we enjoyed the great views. Day 4Livorno (For Florence And Pisa) - Italy We wanted to do Pisa and Florence and the ship excursion price for both was £82 each. So for 7 of us this would have cost us total of £574. However I found a 8 seater taxi just on the outside of the ship which took us to Pisa and Florence for total of 260 Euros. The taxi journey started at 9 and we returned back to the ship at 4.30pm. Pisa was ok as not much to do but we found Florence beautiful. Taxi driver drew us a map which we followed so managed to walk and see all places. Day 5Villefranche* (For Monaco And Nice) - France We walked to Villefranche train station in 10 mins and bought a return ticket for 7 of us for 70 Euros. This journey included travelling to Monaco and Nice. We did Monaco first as its furthest. Once in Monaco we did a little bus/train tour of the city which I highly recommend. Jump on a local bus as the driver will advise you where to catch this tour bus from. Bus ticket will cost you 2 Euros each. Once we finished the tour we caught the bus back to Monaco station and train to Nice Ville. Make sure you get off at Nice ville. We didn't like Nice at all. Streets are dirty and not much to do. We spent 30 mins in Nice and caught the train back to Villefranche. Day 6Marseille - France We used the ship's shuttle service for 7 Euro each to Marseille as the port is 15 mins away. Taxi was going to cost us more. Once in Marseille we used the little bus/train which shows you all of Marseille for 9euro each. Must get off at Notre Dame de la Gard church for spectacular views. As this is a hop on hop off tour it will not cost you extra. Day 7Barcelona - Spain As soon as you come out of the port there is a hop on hop off bus stop. We bought the tickets for red and blue bus for 29 Euros each. Do both routes as it covers all of Barcelona. We did half of the red route and got off just where the blues route crosses. Did the whole blue route and finished the second half of red route. Day 8Palma - Majorca We didn't get off the ship even though our leaving time from the ship was 5.15 pm. We had to vacate the room by 8am which was annoying but ok. The luggage has to be packed and left out side the room the night before so have a hand luggage for final bits. All in all a pleasant experience, in future I would go for a room with a view or may be a balcony. I would also choose a cruise which had more days at sea but I suppose on 7 day cruise it's not possible. We did get tired as we had late nights and had to be up early to fit everything in. We took part in a game show in Royal fireworks which I highly recommend. It's on at 9.45pm every night. Musical shows in the jubilee was not my cup of tea but most people loved the shows. Captains night was ok. I may have had high expectations but I found it a waste of time. I personally would not go again and did find many others who didn't go. Hope my experience helps others. This was our first cruise and we absolutely loved every moment. The food, cabin, excursions, ship and mostly the crew were great. This ship apparently is one of the older ones, but I thought it was just lovely. We went on 2 arranged excursions (Pompei and Rome in a day), both of which were amazing. We weren't sure if a cruise would be "our thing", but we definately have the bug now. You can dress up or down in the evenings, it really is your choice and what ever you decide, you wont feel out of place. We didn't go on the very formal night, it just isn't for us, but we did dress up and have a treat in one of the restaurants. The entertainment was first class, with a selection of bars with waiter service. Everything from first day boarding to leaving the ship was done smoothly with no hassle at all. We booked the drinks package, which was well worth it and cheaper I believe if its booked whilst booking the holiday. I cant wait to go with Thomson again. Read Less

2 week cruise ..loved it. been on the Spirit, the Dream, the Discovery & the Destiny ..(remember that one!) but now a little sad the Majesty is leaving the fleet. So much choice, so many places to eat and drink ...and we had a go at all of them! we often dined in the 7 seas restaurant at dinner and loved the wacky waiters and daft singing from the (men in black) managers, we did chat to a couple of guests who chose to have every meal in the buffet restaurant because they didn't want to sit with other guests, ...for some reason they didn't know there were tables for two? lots of tables for two, indeed the waiters often removed two placings on a table set for four just to accommodate. Fabulous entertainment team & great shows, Great formal night ..please don't change this tradition, we didn't bother with a photo with the captain but its great dressing up and seeing some fine ladies in evening dresses, for the men all you need is a tie, (we were on Thomson Discovery last September and some people were confused with what to wear on the 'odd' formal night!) or maybe it was just us? The reason we chose this cruise was because we watched presenter of pointless do a special on Rome, Portillo do Spain and Soller on Majorca, and Alex Polizzi do review of Amalfi coast. The cruise we went on was two weeks and would let us visit everywhere we had seen on telly- first week to Sicily, Sorrento/Pompeii, Rome, Corsica, Menorca, and also southerns Spain and Casablanca. The ship is old but is constantly being touched up and cleaned, Service was flawless and have to take my hat off to every one of the ship crew and staff. Food was great and the excursions helped us get the most out of the trip. It felt like we visited every wonder of the world by the time we got back. We had the drinks package arranged before we went away and service was friendly and helpful throughout. The atmosphere on the party nights and entertainment was great and was jumping every night with a great feel amongst the passengers. Guides on the trips were great and although the excursions seemed expensive - found out later royal Caribbean charge twice as much for the same trip. We also priced the trip up at 5000 for 4 people but same trip with RC would have been 7500 plus so TUI offered better value for money. Read Less

My Wife booked this cruise for my 60th. I have cruised before but she hasn't. Based on that I told her to keep within safe waters like the Eastern Med. Wow... we enjoyed this trip so much. Firstly, I must add we always read reviews and this one did not come out on top, however, many just moaned about the poor deco or tired looking rooms etc. Many stated the cabins were too small and some said it was awful. Well let me assure anybody due out on this Majestic before its decommissioning in October you will not be sorry. Yes, the cabins are small, about the same size as a 2 birth caravan but plenty enough room to sleep and wash. With so much going on in the ship you would be silly to spend your time in your cabin. We choose an inside cabin which saved us money, if you prefer a port hole then pay the extra for the privilege of seeing the sunshine when you wake up. The cabin staff, Philipe & Mohamad could not do enough for us. They leave you alone when you want it, they clean your room if you require it. They leave nice touches such as chocolates on your pillows and turn your clean towels into swans or rabbits etc. The waiters in Seven Seas (our prefered choice) were nothing short of fantastic. I'll let you see what I mean when your there. We cannot comment on the four seasons restaurant because we stayed put in Seven Seas. Before entering any restaurants you will be greeted by the man with the gel, a quick squirt into your hands to ensure cleanliness. The food choice top class, again, will let you see for yourselves. Entertainment on the ship was very good. Live shows every evening in two sittings. Then afterwards another show such as a singer or comedian. We had Phil Doyle, a comedian who will have you in stitches for an hour. Disco's do go on until early morning but cannot comment as we didn't go. We had full board package which included all cocktails unless listed as extras. Drinks package in our view is a must because the prices you see are expensive and it wouldn't take you long before clocking up few hundred quid. To finish off I want you to know we were slightly worried about the reviews we read but so glad we ignored them. Talking to other guests they all said the same, so glad they ignored the negative reviews. My only regret is having a 7 night instead of 14. Can't wait for next cruise and will definitely book with Thompsons again. Happy Cruising. Read Less

All the staff were excellent and could not do enough for us - we felt very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The food was plentiful and of good quality - not cold as other posters have alluded to. While we only booked one shore excursion, that was OK. All other ports of call, we obtained the maps from reception, and found at most places, very helpful local tourist offices, who advised what to see and the costs. While this ship is one of the oldest in the fleet, it was kept clean, and staff seemed to take pride in their work. The biggest advantage to other cruise companies are that tips are included and no large bill at check-out. We would definitely book with Thomson again. Read Less

We have just returned today after 14 glorious nights on board this majestic ship. We chose this particular itinerary as it included many new destinations that we hadn't visited before on previous cruises. Before we departed we had a lot of apprehension after reading so many negative views.......what a lot of rubbish some people write. Were they even on the same ship? Brilliant caring staff, fantastic selection of food in every restaurant, clean cabins and great entertainment. We have been on many cruises before and as a retired travel agent I always give an honest and fair review on any holiday whether on land or at sea. For those who have doubts just work out how much you paid per day,to include flights, transfers, accommodation, all food and an all inclusive drinks package and visiting 12 amazing destinations.....could you do it for the amount you paid off your own back...or indeed on any of the more upmarket cruise ships?.need I say any more. Well done Thomsons we will be back! Read Less

This was our first cruise and we were not disappointed, We picked up the ship at Majorca and could not criticise anything. The staff were amazing and great fun. Ova and Mary in the Bar Teams were first class, although all the staff were polite, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The facilities were excellent, with plenty of places to eat and drink The curry night was fab and the fine dining waiter service was brilliant as well. Our rooms were kept spotless and there was fresh towels and beach towels daily. We went on the Mediterranean cruise and the only disappointment was Morocco, Casablanca. Most cruisers were disappointed with this stop Gibraltar was great fun and we had a great walk up to the cable cars to see the monkeys. You did not need to book trips as you could walk to most places There was a shuttle bus of £6.00 per person to Valencia and Morocco (we would however not recommend walking around in Morocco as we did not find this area safe). Cadiz and Catagena was on the doorstop and there was plenty of shopping to do with some great deals. The boat is cashless and any extras are on the card for your account, This is debited once half way through your trip and then on the last night House cocktails were generally good and you could purchase additional cocktails for £1.50 on top of the Drinks Package. All soft drinks were branded. The only thing that was expensive on board was ice cream. We wasnt sure on dress wear and this was varied. Trousers were required in the waiter service, although these were informal and out son worse smart shorts when he went in to these restaurants. In the buffet style restaurant, where the food was far better than we had experienced at AI hotels, the dress was very casual. There was a wind on board at night and with the air con, it is best to take a cardigan. Embarking and Disembarking was very straight forward and you received itineraries in your room daily with port times to leave and be back on board. The gym was good if you like it, but was little time to attend. Entertainment was varied. There was a discos at night until approx 2.30am AI ended at 2am which was plenty. Just be careful of your mobile roaming on board as this is not treated as EU data at all times. Thomson cruises have got it spot on and we are already planning our next trip. We are hooked Read Less

Having read reviews on this site I was worried about our trip. I need not have worried as from the moment we came through the passport control the Thomson colleagues made us welcome and efficiently transferred us to the ship. Our bags were in the cabin before us. The ship is very well maintained and impeccably clean. Our cabin was serviced twice a day. We upgraded to a balcony cabin which we had prebooked to get an uninterrupted view. Unfortunately the Thomson agent in the U.K recommended 921 which was 80% obscured by a lifeboat. Do not book this cabin if a view is important to you. This was not the fault of the staff on board so we could only flag when aboard and were refunded the booking fee. By then all other balcony cabins were obviously booked. Apart from this the bed was comfortable and cabin roomy. The food on board is perfectly acceptable without long queues. In the Seven Seas restaurant we had fantastic service from Jommel Gigs and Johnny. The upgraded restaurant was also lovely service and food. We enjoyed deck 7 by day and night. Most families gathered by the pools which meant this deck was quiet to read. By night it was deserted and lovely to walk right round the ship at sunset. The entertainment is similar to that in Thomson hotels - a good standard. The comedian was very funny. The destinations we visited were lovely particularly Trapani, Propriano and Mahon. We did cancel trip to Rome due to heat and had a full refund. Overall this was a great first cruise experience. Read Less

This was our first cruise and loved every bit of it. Ship was immaculate and feel sad it is being decommissioned in November as we thought it was still in great order. Staff were so friendly and food was amazing, cant fault anything to be honest. Our cabin was on deck 9 Outdoor plus and was roomy with large porthole window. Cleaned well twice a day. Entertainment was fab and so were the tours. Marseille was the only place we did not visit as it was a distance from the port and we were warned would be very busy and very warm so decided to have a nice relaxing day on the ship. The bus we got from Pisa had no air conditioning and this was badly needed. Everyone was near fainting point. The tour guide was very good but Thomson need to check that the coaches are all fully equipped before hiring. Would definitely sail with Thomson again, no doubt at all. Read Less

Having read some of the reviews before I went I was a bit apprehensive, I have sailed on Thomson Spirit and P&O ships before, I dont know why I was worried, yes the ship is old, but it is spotless. The embarkation was easy and staff very helpful, we got on to the ship and went to explore, the inside was lovely not dated like I expected. We had an inside plus cabin which had enough room for us, the bathrooms are small but adequate enough. plenty of wardrobe space for both of us, We ate in Le Bistro one night as it was for a celebration, the buffet restaurant was good, plenty of food available for everyone, the waiter service restaurants were very good as well.Excellent food in all of the restaurants onboard. The bar staff were brilliant so friendly and made you feel so welcome and very cheerful, made us laugh a lot, they couldn't do enough for you.The entertainment team were brilliant, we saw most of the shows and they put so much energy into it, We only did one excursion which was Florence, very easliy run, coaches all waiting for you when you got off ship, we couldn't get off the boat in Corsica because of the sea was a bit choppy for the tender boats Overall I know this is the last year for this ship but if it wasn't I wouldn't hesitate to go on it again, we had a lovely cruise and will do Thomson again, I personally found it more friendlier than the P&O one we did last year. lst cruise ever with a friend on Thomson Majesty 'Treasures of the Med' (7 nights) in May 2017 - Deck 4. Basic twin outside cabin. On the small side but we got used to it by 3rd day. So impressed with service/everything and felt value for money !! Returned in July 'Mediterranean Medley' (7 nights) - Deck 7- outside cabin+. This cabin slightly larger than deck 4. The service remained high (better than 5* hotels I had stayed at previous years), staff beyond friendly, entertainment fantastic - I even enjoyed the shows 2nd time around, food/dining choices endless, cleanliness excellent and the ports of call varied. The flights and transfers by Thomson excellent. The terminal/port services very good. My friend and I were 'all at sea' perse on the lst cruise, then we knew what we were doing on 2nd cruise which made me feel confident enough to return in November 2017 (14 nights) solo-lucky me. For the most part dress was smart/casual, cocktail dresses/lounge suits. Tuxedos were worn on the Gala Night but not by all and I heard one or two gents say they cldnt wait to return to cabin to change out ha ha ha. Yes, in places the ship is looking a little tired but it didn't take away my thorough enjoyment of the cruise. Really pleased to hear that Majesty is not being decommissioned at end of November but will continue for another few months, I believe, so hopefully I will be booking my (4th) 2018 cruise with Thomson. I was more than surprised at the Captain's cocktail party that passengers on board were on their 20th+ cruise with Thomson for which they received a bottle of champagne from the Captain himself !! Not been to many of the places before. This is an older ship and it does show. However it was kept clean and all staff friendly and helpful. We did not attend the captains night. We have before and prefer things a bit more casual but that was our choice. Obviously some people prefer the formality but not all. A lot of people that night in the buffet restaurant which was excellent. We had the drinks package included and this was good. Our cabin though a little dated was clean and spacious though we had stayed in it before and had 2 windows and in good position on ship. No engine noise. We have had 4 great cruises on the majesty and will remember them with great pleasure. The staff were attentive without being in your face. We will look forward to another thomsons cruise in the future on another boat. We did not do the shore excursions but wandered around each port. Information needed was helpful and if needed shuttle buses in operation. Read Less
