I nearly always choose Thomson's holidays (usually Gold) so know that I can trust them. The cruise appeared to be value for money, with a big discount on the original price, & booking was easy online. My wife's suitcase got lost at Palma airport and the onboard receptionist's worked hard to track it for us. It arrived onboard 2 hrs before we sailed so 10 out of 10 for effort there! We booked for 14 nights so left the exploring of Palma for our first return. We had 9 shore excursions booked starting with Sicily (loved it) then to Sorrento & the Amalfi Coast (amazing) & finally to Rome (a must see for any traveller). Corsica was the next stopover (interesting & the only tender to shore as we lost Cuitadella on week two!) and finally to Mahon (gin museum/distillery duly visited)! Back to Majorca then for the start of week two. So it should have been docking at Cuitadella but the Tramuntana (a strong Balearic wind) meant we had to dock at Mahon again. Toulon & Sete were the next two ports of call on the cote-d'azure. We lost the weather here but by the time we hit Palamos and Tarragona the sun was back to baking temperatures! A visit to the Capital of Tarragona (Reus) and a quick tour of the beautiful seaside resort of Cambrils was our last planned excursion. None of the above tours were rushed or included pointless trips to outlets or irrelevant extras. I added a final bicycle tour around Ibiza town for our last day and my wife went to the Sana Wellness centre onboard for a little pampering! Meals were above average and pretty much 24hrs if you wanted it!! The drinks package was good value and the choice was reasonable. Entertainment was mainly the crew but they worked hard and produced a variety of decent shows! Would I do it again? How about tomorrow!! Waking up in a different country or part of a country is such a great way to holiday! I completely get the whole cruising idea and wish I had started it years ago! The ship is old but still eminently seaworthy and the family atmosphere on board is a delight! The crew were efficient, polite and plainly enjoyed their chosen occupation! Overall...well done Tui! We were delayed a little at Palma airport ,(as expected,) The transfer from airport to ship was quick & efficient & we were given all information ..our cabin was lovely ,clean& well stocked. The buffets are always well staffed & the breakfasts & lunches have a good variety the staff are always ready to help if needed..I prefer evening meal waiter service & Im never disappointed either with the food or the fantastic staff they really make holidays special ,Moss,Fonsie,Elton,Ariel & the others helped make my birthday memorable. The Taylor & Jack & entertainment staff put on some great shows Moulin Rouge was really good ,the guest comedian was very funny , It would be nice to have a bit longer in some of the ports & the excursions are a little expensive but well organised . I've cruised 17 years with Thomson & cruised on Majesty in June & am going on it again in Oct , to say a very, very sad 'bye bye' to the ship and all the lovely fantastic crew ,maybe they will be on Discovery 2 next year.. Never sailed on Majesty before enjoyed almost all of the week ,just a few minor complaints but nothing that would stop me cruising with Thomson's again. Great entertainment wonderful staff all around the ship. Nothing was too much trouble, Food on the Majesty was excellent always plenty to eat. Waiters continually making sure that everything was to your liking. If I have any criticism about evening mealtime it is there chose of sugar free sweets where very limited and non existent during afternoon tea which was a shame because all the sweets looked delicious particularly the different types of biscuits. My only complaint was the trips. Thomson's need to reconsider some trips when it is Ramadan. Our trip to Casablanca was a waste of time as most thing the where closed because of Ramadan. We couldn't even get a drink of water as nowhere was open and in those temperatures it was ridicules. Read Less

My husband and I chose this Cruise as our very first Cruising experience. We chose Thomson because of previous recommendations from friends and family. We chose this particular ship because of the fabulous places to visit. From start to finish we had a fantastic experience. A great on boarding experience. We were escorted to our cabin and our bags were delivered at the same time which was great. We were welcomed with a bottle of champagne and chocolate strawberries which was a lovely touch and very gratefully received. Whilst our cabin was small, it was exceptionally clean and met our needs in every way. Our housekeeper Tanya was amazing. Went out of her way to give us a great experience. No task for her seemed too much trouble. The towels in the room were so nice... Read Less

Wanted to try a cruise and the travel agent recommended this one to us. Embarkation and disembarkation was well organised. We had an outside cabin on floor 3. Cabin was small but had everything we needed in it. Has a hairdryer. You have one plug in the cabin that takes European convertor. Enough drawers and hangers. We used the dining rooms to eat in. The Seven Seas and the Four Seasons. Really enjoyed sharing a table with others. Great way to meet others. Food was really good. Staff really friendly. Two small pools on deck 10. The entertainment each evening was very professional, so very very good. We used the train to get to Nice, don't follow signpost when you get off tender at Villafrance. Walk along seafront and up the steps to the station. 3.60euros return to Nice and 6 euros return to Monaco. We did Pisa by bus, courtesy bus drops you off near tourist information, they will direct to bus. If you get there early enough you can get a train before 945am. After ten there is a wait for next one. Had a lovely morning in Corsica. There is a free bus to Marseille just a short walk off the ship, otherwise the ship offers a bus for 6 euros return. A small train takes you up to the Notre Dame de La Garde Church. Lovely views of Marseille from the top. Everything and everyone on this cruise was great, only one thing for us was a rough crossing from Marseille to Barcelona this put us off going again. Read Less

I have just returned from a weeks cruise which was offered at a knock down price due to the fact that the ship is coming out of service at the end of the year. We were a bit apprehensive as to what condition the ship would be in, the ship was as described as a bit tired and the cabins small however we couldn't fault the organisation of Thomsons everything thing went like clockwork from checking in at Gatwick to departure day at the end of the holiday, well done Thomsons. The ship itself was as described tired but everything worked as it should, the food was excellent as were all of the staff the entertainment was brilliant. It might not have been the best nor the biggest ship in the world but the atmosphere and the enjoyment was amazing. We would certainly book again with Thomsons due mainly to there fantastic efficiency Read Less

This was our 9th cruise and our 3rd with Thomson cruises and always enjoyed ourselves so was really looking forward to it and from the getting on and going to our cabin was very disappointed cabins tiny and cramped but on the up side was always kept clean. As for the food it was of a poor quality and not a great choice of menu and in the buffet restaurant we found it not very clean and trying g to find a clean glass was a lucky dip on one occasion I picked 8 up to find 2 clean ones I told the manager he said it would be sorted but never was. As for the entertainment or lack of it VERY POOR . The crew seemed to be 2 groups the ones that worked very hard and they did work hard and then the rest who wear very lazy and tried there best to ignore you. After saying that a holiday is only as good as you make it and we still had a good time Read Less

We read the reviews on this website re: this ship, just before our cruise started, with some concern, so much so that we had very low expectations. We were pleasantly surprised to find that we had nothing to worry about. We really enjoyed the cruise, and we had no complaints. I think people who complained about the ships need to consider how much they paid for their cruise, and whether it was value for money, particularly when comparing against other cruises. We paid £1,500 each for 2 weeks in an inside plus cabin (which is a little bit more spacious than a standard cabin, and has a small fridge). This included return flights to/from Palma from the UK, airports transfers, the two weeks cruise, with an all inclusive drinks package thrown in, and also included tips. The staff working on this ship could not have been more helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was good and varied, and the restaurants and buffet areas were clean and well-managed. The cabins were clean, and serviced twice a day by the housekeeping staff. Our fridge was old and didn't have any shelves, but it was ok to keep bottles of water and cans of coke cool. The all inclusive drinks package included branded items, such as John Smiths Beer, Guinness, Gordons gin, Bacardi, Smirnoff vodca, various other brands and some cocktails, though for some brands such as Jack Daniels there was a small supplement. Bottled water was not free, though ice cold water was available free of charge from containers in the buffet restaurants. Re: the entertainment, there were some really good shows from the Thomson Entertainment team, and some good comedians, and various other activities. Yes some areas of the ship are well worn, but even though Thomson will no longer be using it after November they are still continually making improvements. During our stay some areas of the boat were being re-painted, and many of the sunbeds were replaced with new ones. If you've got a cruise booked on this ship, don't worry about negative reviews. Go with an open mind, and I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time, like we did. Read Less

having been ill recently my wife booked this cruise at the last minute as a pick me up., With little or no valuable concern for the overall appearance of internal décor ie on deck 6 we and most other guests noticed cracked windows dirty windows tired pyleless carpets ,a generous smudged paint work around most window frames.Dining at any level was at best not on a par with school dining,on a few occasions courses of food were sub standard and no attempt was made to rectify this guests just did without I noticed on a few nights the common overuse of the microwave oven desserts were amateurish and feble on the last night a course of Baked Alaska appeared this dessert is commonly known as Veinnetta in most supermarkets cut so thin as to be see through,on the last night the caberet were 8 troupers from a school concert rendering among other exerts from Mary Poppins to an audience mostly over the age 75,I could not wait till this hell at sea ended.
