We went cruising to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Some of the things we experienced are:
Very good food with the chef giving some demonstrations of special treats
Very social environment. We were encouraged to meet with other cruisers
Great tours. We signed up for every extra tours. This meant that we were up at 6 am every day, eating breakfast at 7 and touring at 8 or ...
This was my second Viking river cruise. Based on how much I enjoyed the first one, I persuaded 3 friends to join me, and we were not disappointed. I personally enjoyed Prague more than Paris, so I wish we had chosen the opposite itinerary, giving us more time in Prague when we were not already overloaded with sights and a bit tired (my companions may not agree). I skipped 2 of the more strenuous ...
The cruise was spectacular. The entire staff was perfect. The tours were all interesting and really very well planned. We had time to see the points of interest and hear all the discussions about the history and local flavor. Weather was a little bit of an issue and it means packing clothes that will work under a variety of situations. Make sure your shoes are comfortable and broken in since ...
This was my first Viking cruise, and it was a huge expense for me -- but it was worth every dollar. The boat was beautiful, the staff was incredible, the scenery was gorgeous, and the excursions were mostly perfect. I loved every part of this journey. I'm sure there were people on the boat who expected something more luxurious, but I will say it was every bit as luxurious as anything I would ...
Our tour director, Claudia, met us in Paris and remained with us for the entire trip. She was always accessible, made sure everyone knew schedules, always informative and friendly.
I was disappointed that the boat did not dock within walking distance to the town at each port. It was so much more enjoyable when that was possible.
The guides in each port were terrific. They were ...
For a purported "river cruise" there was way to much riding on buses. Two days were spent getting to the boat and then going to our departure city, Paris. Plus during the cruise there were long bus rides to Heidelberg, Rothenberg, and one other city whose name I forget.
The boat itself was well laid out. Our cabin was more than adequate, with nice touches such as a heated floor in the ...
Great itinerary, food was best we have ever had on any cruise line. Cabin was adequate. Ship layout was easy to navigate. Tours were included. IOverall, great experience. The only thing that kept me from giving it a full 5 stars was the post cruise extension was extremely overpriced for what I could and should have booked myself. Double the price of what we could have booked at the same hotel for. ...
We had a great trip and really enjoyed all the things we saw and did. Meet lots of wonderful people on board the long boat. The crew was very friendly and helpful. Our program directors was a fun lively gal. Saw so many things on the shore excursions. Glad we took lots of pictures to help us remember all the places we were. Although all the guides were very knowledgeable and eagerly ...
The Hotel in Paris - Le Meridien was being renovated and you could hear all the work being done early in the morning above us. We had the furthest room from the elevators and took 20 minutes just to get to the Lobby. Hotel breakfast was good. Hotel Staff was attentive. Everything else in Paris was lovely. Vikings tour of the city was fine.
We departed for Luxembourg and had an excellent ...
I loved everything about City of Lights trip. Our accommodations in Paris and Prague were wonderful. I loved both of these beautiful cities. We met out Program Director, Claudia, in Paris. Claudia is extremely knowledgeable and lots of fun! How she kept track of all of us is beyond me. She was always available to answer our questions or assist us in any way. Our group of 20 wanted to adopt her! ...
