The Paul Gaugin is not what you think of as a traditional cruise ship. It’s much larger than a large sailboat and much smaller than what you usually see in Princess, Disney or other very large cruise ships. The word intimate comes to mind but it’s better than that. The first thing you are impressed with is that people know your name on the first day. I don’t know how they do this.

The itinerary-Lautoka and Suva Fiji, New Caledonia and Vanuatu-all away from the usual haunts and ports-of-call for the Paul Gauguin. None disappointed. The highlight- backcountry excursion in Vanuatu from which we returned covered in ash and dirt. sore from the impromptu ride in the back of a pick-up truck but exhiliarated from the sights and sounds of and energy of an actively erupting volcano ...
We are not huge cruise people but have done Celebraty X to Galapagos, Silver Seas to Antartica and this one.
Food in large restaurant was a solid B, tho they rushed you through to get you out. Two other restaurants, don't bother, over promise under deliver
Cabins an A- because our sofa was worn out and collapsed
Service in cabin was good but lacked detail with our butler. Deck ...
Is the water really 13 different shades of blue? YES!
For 13 nights we sailed the South Seas, and by day explored the colorful islands, atolls and motus. The ship was colorful, crisp and clean. The staff were totally pleasant, helpful and entertaining; and wanted to be sure your experience was memorable!
Daily excursions were varied, but the islanders love to show off their towns so it ...
This was our first time on the Paul Gauguin, although we have sailed on over 30 other ships. We chose this itinerary specifically because it added Tonga and Fiji on to the typical French Polynesia route. Overall, we enjoyed our trip very much. There is a lot to like about the Paul Gauguin: intimate size, very good food, nice cabins, friendly staff, etc. There are three dinner restaurants, all ...
After a rainy start from Tahiti, the weather could not have been better the rest of the trip. Easy on & off the ship at beginning and end of trip. Tender operations went very smooth even the "wet" landings at various beaches were great. The staff is wonderful. They know your name on the first day and since the ratio of staff to guest is almost one to one the service is second to none. Food is very ...
The Paul Gaugin cruise to the South Pacific islands of French Polynesia and Fiji did not disappoint. The on board amenities including the state room, the food and the service was over the top. The crew was the most friendly I've ever experienced. Most of them knew me by my first name within a few days. I thought the expeditions were good and varied albeit expensive and sometimes did not live up ...
We've travelled on other cruise lines and ships so this review is relative to those cruises. The price we paid was more than twice as much as we have paid on other lines for similar accommodation. The cabins and balconies are no bigger but the food however was better and the service impeccable. There are lots of staff and they go out of their way to help you, for example, taking buffet plates out ...
Had to to stay at the Intercontinental Resort Tahiti for two nights which sadly did not live up to the image and 5 star status. Word of advice - if you drink tea and coffee take your own and the alcohol prices are ludicrous. Embarking on the Ship Ms Paul Gaugin was so easy and we were escorted to our cabin, luggage following. The Cruise Director Michael Shapiro has already introduced himself and ...
My husband and I have just returned from a fabulous 7 night cruise on the Paul Gauguin from Papeete to Bora Bora and return. We have been on over 30 cruises including river cruises and I have concluded that the crew and staff on the Paul Gauguin are the best! After the first day, everyone knew our names and they were TOPS at caring for us, whether in the dining room or up at the Grill or in the ...
