We chose this cruise for the Eastern Caribbean ports of call and the price. We booked a Fantastica Interior cabin, but we were complimentarily upgraded to a Fantastica Balcony cabin! Our first! If you haven't sailed with MSC before you select your cabin preference (interior, balcony, suite) and then you select your experience ( Bella, Fantastica, Aurea, Yacht Club etc.) Our Fantastica experience cam with some perks. 12 drink vouchers per person, free room service from 6 am until 11 pm, some classes for kids but we didn't bring any with us. Embarkation was fast and efficient. Our paperwork said to embark at 4:15 pm but we had an early flight so we went early. We were on the ship by 11:15 am, The buffet didn't start serving lunch until noon and the sports bar until 12:30. I found the food to be very good. Believe all the hype for the buffet pizza...so delicious! I loved the McCarthy salad at the sports bar, it has greens, avocado, bacon, chicken and a honey mustard dressing. The MDR was pretty good. One night when I ordered a scallop dish I was surprised when it had only 5 miniscule scallops the size of tic-tacs. Our service was ok in the MDR, we waited for our menus a few times in excess of 5 minutes. Those drinking flat water with dinner had to wait for refills. If you drank the sparkling water the left the liter bottle for refills. Our MDR servers ( for dinner) did not once place my napkin on my lap. They did do so at breakfast in the MDR. It's a little thing, but it makes me feel like I am on vacation. The ship is spectacular! It is elegant and welcoming with lots of little seating areas. The Swarovski Crystal staircases are stunning. I suggest getting your Gala night photos here. There are 2 Gala nights(formal) on a 7-night cruise. The entertainment is top notch. The entertainment staff are fun, friendly and get EVERYONE involved. This the best entertainment staff on the sea! Our cabin was beautiful! We loved our first balcony! If I were designing the space I would move the mirror which is at the foot of the bed to somewhere you could back up a foot or so to use for checking your outfit. The mirror is large but it is only about 10 inches or so away from the end of the bed so when you are trying to use the mirror you are almost on top of it. I would also allow for more than 10 inches between bed and wall. It was definitely wait your turn when hubby was going the opposite way. We loved our cabin location Cabin # 9160. We were right near the secret or not so secret elevator. So if you took it up to 14 you were at the buffet entrance. If you took it down to 6 you were at the Black Crab MDR entrance. It was right off the Atrium as well. We were worried there would be a lot of noise but it was great! We booked while on board and got some great perks: double voyagers club points, $200 instant OBC which they applied the next day, The cruise we booked is in the Yacht Club on December 8, 2018 and was one of the Voyagers Club distinctive cruises so we saved 20% off of our cruise and were given an additional $50 OBC per person on top of the $150 OBC offered. We are looking forward to trying the Yacht Club experience! My husband had a hard time getting a machine every time he went to the gym. There were a few out of order and they rest were all occupied at 6 am! That could be improved upon, for the number of guests aboard it was inadequate. Service was exceptional at times and sub-par at others. Our hot lava sone Bali massages were wonderful and 30% of on a port day. Please ask any questions you may have. All in al we loved it! The Cruise Critic Meet & Mingle was wonderful, there were 86 of us. The Captain and many of the Senior officers were present and were circulating, asking us about our experience so far and answering questions about Divina, MSC, and other MSC ships., there were complimentary hor dourves and cocktails. There was also a delicious cake and a group photo taken. It was sent to our cabin a keepsake a few days later. It was really nice! Read Less

Embarkation was the fastest I have ever experienced. This is my 6th cruise. I stayed in 8134 an obstructed view balcony room. MSC upgraded my room after their price went down. Note they were only willing to do so because I booked directly through MSC. My other friends and family that booked through a third party were not allowed to upgrade. My room was great, spacious and lots of room for everything. When I arrived it was very dusty and look like it had not been thoroughly cleaned. I asked my cabin steward to please detail the room that night. When I came back from dinner it was spotless and all the nooks and crannies were cleaned and dusted. Even smelled fresher. Food Breakfast is disappointing after the first 2 days because it is literally the exact same menu. No twists, no new shapes.. NADA. It is basic bacon , eggs and potatoes everyday. It taste great and it is consistent. I would have a liked just a tad bit of variation. Lunch- Buffet food has never been so good. A 10 for MSC for amazing buffet lunch food. You literally had to make rounds to make sure you tasted everything. It was fantastic. My mother was in love with the deserts. There was a Spanish Paella that was absolutely bomb. Dinner - We ate at the Black Crab every night and that was just lovely. Our server Fiel was great at keeping up with all of us (8 people). The menus varied every night and had some of the basics like chicken, lasagna there every night as well. There was something for everyone every night. Service was slow at first but it definitely picked up. Not sure if it was because I commented about it but either way there was definitely a great improvement by the 3rd night. Thank you! Beverages - OMG why!! I had the fantastica experience and an extra 18 drinks voucher book, did not even use much. It is nearly impossible to get a good drink. Its as if all the bartenders learned the recipes for every drink on the menu but no one taught them how to balance the ingredients or how to mix. I say all the bartenders get a complete mixology bootcamp or something. The most consistent bars for better drinks are in the Casino and the Divina bar right outside the Black crab. I used their iron and press service which was wonderful A- because I hate ironing and 2- everything came back perfectly pressed with same day service. I did not use the ships excursion services. I usually venture out on my own. There were always plenty of activities on the ship. So much so that I feel like I did not get to do absolutely everything I wanted to. You definitely need at least 2 weeks on the ship to feel like you really got to it all. We did many of the dance classes. The entertainment staff was so personable and just happy to chat and mingle. Kayla was amazing and honestly should be a cruise director or have her own stand up comedy show. 1 thing that was missing was a comedy night or something to the sorts of that. The ship was always very clean and well maintained except for the waterfall inside near guest services. That looks like its seen better days. Gym - was great very spacious, clean and staff was very helpful. The Spa- As always cruisers you know to wait until the last few days for the best specials. The prices do indeed go down. I had a 30 bali hot stone massage and then spent an hour in the thermal area. My massage was delightful. The tea bar in the Spa is amazing. Do not overlook this place. Natural juices and concoctions galore. BTW There are only 2 saunas there if you are like me and hope to get into different body jet Whirlpools and more than 2 saunas it is not worth getting the passes. It literally is just 2 saunas 1 wet one dry and 8 lounge chairs ( NOT HEATED). My mother got a hair color at the salon and was very impressed by the quality, service and the whole experience. Overall this MSC experience I feel that although not everything was absolutely perfect initially as soon as I mentioned it to someone they did everything in their power to correct it right away and maintain consistency. Except for drinks ... Literally getting a drink is like the lottery. Just order straight liquor if you can help it. I felt appreciated as a customer and that is very important to me. I would definitely sail with MSC cruises again. Read Less

I could find some issues, however, they are too minor to bring up. The cruise was very enjoyable and relaxing. I will tell all my cruising friends about our trip and with luck I will cruise again with friends. Our stateroom was very comfortable and we enjoyed looking at the beautiful blue water and reading while sitting on the balcony. Boarding and disembarking were the best I have experienced. I donot have the words to to say how great the shows were. The crew from our stateroom steward to the wait staff were all helpful and were there when needed. The new design for the shower was great at 6 feet 2 inches 250+ I had no problems getting in or out of the shower. Also helpful was the closet space with more hangers. We have made this trip with Rccl and did not book any tours, we did have an excellent guide in Montego Bay,Ms McIntosh who gave us a wonderful tour of the city, she was just a joy to be with. We were looking for a cruise to follow another cruise on another cruise line. We had traveled in the Yacht Club previously on this ship. This time in a balcony. I missed the butler service this time but our early dining time was fine in a table for two. Had a great Head waiter, Ventislav, and waiter Fiel. Cabin steward even got me Venchi chocolates when I said I missed then from the previous cruise on MSC. Shows were very good, particularly the Michael Jackson one. Casino had two days where they gave you $5 to play for free and keep your winnings. ,Love the Piazza del Doge gelato bar. Food in buffet was excellent and they make fabulous pizza. Great salad availability. Love the Eataly Steakhouse cacio e peppe. Only complaint is food was often lukewarm in formal dining room, but when I said something they were quick to replace it. MSC has come a long way since first coming to US market. Breads were plentiful and varied. Coffee and water readily available. Beautiful ship, impeccably clean. Great captain Master Marco Massi was very personable and accessible.Great Hotel Director Ziggy. We'll cruise with them again. It was a very relaxing cruise for us. Read Less

It was our first cruise and it turned out to be a good one. because of the hurricanes we changed the route, which we were very pleased. We saw more countries and cities during the same time. The liner struck us with size and luxury! These stairs with rhinestones Swarovski, noiseless elevators, numerous restaurants, bars and clubs, pools with sea water ... And the Pantheon Theater with incredibly beautiful evening shows and talented atrists can not be described! the cabin is small, but very comfortable, provided with everything necessary. We had a cabin with a balcony, - not for a minute did not regret the surcharge. The staff is very attentive and friendly. Food in the restaurant deserves a separate evaluation. The menu is very diverse even in the buffet. Each gourmet could satisfy its taste. In general, we are happy that we got on this ship! We will wait for the next vacation and the opportunity to visit other countries on a cruise. Read Less

We went on this family cruise as a group of 10 ranging from ages 7 to 65. The ship is absolutely gorgeous with many great amenities for all ages. There was always something to do on the boat whether it was relaxing by the pool, watching an outdoor movie, listening to live music in one of the many lounges, watching a live show, bowling, or going to the spa. There is also an outdoor children's play area on the top deck with a teeter totter and play house for the kids. My kids really enjoyed that. As for the food, we ate in the Black Crab restaurant for breakfast, buffet for lunches and snacks, and in the main restaurant (Black Crab) for dinner. The food in the main restaurant was delicious. I would highly recommend the smoked salmon or eggs benedict for breakfast and the surf n' turf on Gala night. As a meat lover, I was very pleased to see that steak was an option every night. For the vegetarians, there were always vegetarian options. We bought a wine package online prior to departure and it is a great deal compared to what you'll pay on board. We paid about around 90$ US for 7 bottles of wine, which includes the service charge. Drinks, gelato, and treats in the cafe were extremely reasonably priced compared to other cruise lines. In the cafe, you can buy a macaron for 90 cents, cupcake for 75 cents or a gelato for $ 2.00. The staff is very friendly and attentive. They always seem to be working very hard and very appreciative of any tips you give them. The Captain and his Officers can often be seen around the boat and at various social activities. They were also friendly and attentive and set a great example for their staff. Our entire family had a great time on this trip. The only negative comment I can make about this cruise was with the transfer from the airport to the boat. We waited for almost 2 hours for the bus to pick us up. One hour of that time was waiting outdoors in the Florida heat breathing in bus fumes. The airport staff were very rude and told us it was taking so long because we were in the last terminal and the buses would go to the other terminals first and get filled. That doesn't seem to be a fair system of doing things. The transfer back home went much smoother. My advice would be to just to take an Uber or a taxi if you have an option. Read Less

Second time on this ship in 3 months. Celebrated wife B'Day. Every staff member from room steward Fredrick, to bar staff Vaness in LaLuna to Jessica in Golden Jazz bar, were phenomenal. Special shoutout to Ari, dinning room staff, for serenading her on birthday and last night of cruise!! Dinning room waiter John and Edison, were great, very attentive and never missed a detail. Theatre shows are the best on the seas. Costumes for the pirates show were unbelievable, as well as the dancers and acrobats. But by far and away the Michael Jackson show was the headliner for the week. Jorge Rodriguez? was uncanny! He nailed every move/step in all the songs. The ending of the show with cast and ships crew, taking a bow was unbelievable! Quite a tribute to the King of Pop!! Also the duo singers in LaLuna bar was fabulous. Special treatment of songs from ABBA,Eric Clapton, Santana, made each night unique. Quite the lounge act. Don't miss any of the entertainment!! Read Less

I only have great things to say about this cruise. we travelled with two friends and their two kids. To begin with embarkation, we arrived at 1:30 pm, and only half an hour later we were on board sitting down and enjoyed a beer from the pool bar. at 2:30 pm our cabin was ready, and only a few hours later our suitcases were at the cabin. The cabin had everything you need, small but effective. about Dining, we had 2.nd seeting at the black crap. 8:30 pm every night. The food was great, plenty to choose from, and a different menu every night, We tried the buffet once at lunch, big dissapointment, and we quickly agreed to stay off the buffet for the rest of the trip.even the two kids agreed the restaurant was so much better, we also tried Eataly steak house one night, GREAT steak, but overcooked vegetables. wa saw 4 shows at the theater, they were all great, wiith some really great preformers. The service is overall very good, they could put a person or two more at the pool bars, they were very busy, but did the best the could do, and allways with a smile on the face. Because of the hurricanes we canged to the western caribean, but had a great time at all the ports, with a lot of different excursions, only in Nassau we just relaxed at the beach. the two children (10 and 13 years old) also had a great time, they enjoyed the pool a lot on the ship. they didn´t use the kids and teens activities. the disembarkation allso went smooth, we had booked a trip to Everglades, and a Miami city tour, that ended at the airport. We chose this cruise because I had read other reviews on Cruisecritic that emphasized how wonderful the entertainment was on this ship. We were not disappointed! Amazing shows, classical music...even some ballet! On the second sea day the talented staff even performed La Traviata in the theater!! The Divina is a stunningly beautiful ship! It The common areas are elegant and always spotless. There were over 4,000 passengers and yet it never felt crowded. We did go to two specialty restaurants. We had a wonderful meal at Galaxy steakhouse. The Eataly restaurant was disappointing. The food was just ok there. I had the best osssobuko that I've ever eaten in the main dining room one night. There is something for everyone on this ship! We found all staff to be friendly and helpful. We loved this cruise so much that we have booked the MSC Fantasia for a Mediterranean cruise next year. The personnel on the ship is excellent, always helping and professional. We have visited several cabins and all of the are really beautiful decoratedThe 4D cinema and the swimmingpools will give the kids a great experience. This is an experience we will repeat for sure. We saw MSC tv ads last January, and it definitely piqued our interest. A couple months later we booked our September 16 cruise and boy are we happy we did! Good was mostly consumed in Black Crab, where the service was impeccable, and food was delicious. Ate in Calumet on port days, and we're equally satisfied. No problem finding a table, no lines waiting for food. Very clean, very friendly. Many internationals, but smiles are always a crowd pleaser. My husband has special needs, and had to have his meals blended. Each meal was waiting for him, even in Calumet, including a tall glass of chocolate milk do he could crush and swallow his pills. Desserts were also presented quickly. No waiting whatsoever! He was usually served first, which was utterly amazing. What an experience this was. We have been on many cruises however this was our first msc cruise and/or international cruise experience. Captain marc massa and his crew make this a personable and awesome adventure. Embarkation was the quickest we ever experienced as was disembarkation.... The ship is elegant - clean and beautiful. Don't miss the bingo experience - the michael jackson show or the opportunity to try all the different and new things this cruise line offers. Due to hurricane irma our itinerary was changed however we couldn't have made the choice of islands to change to better ourselves. The excursion desk took care of our credits from pre-booked cruises and handled our new choices without a bother or interruption to us. Costa maya we booked a catamaran snorkeling trip of which we went on however once we crossed over the reef it was clear the seas were just too ruff to have an enjoyable and safe snorkeling experience so we returned to the marina where we found that they took care of having more than enough taxis there to get us back to the port at no charge as well as the excursion was never charged to us.... Wow not half refund but yes a complete n/c to us.... Service was like this the entire cruise. Read Less

Review MSC Divina September 16, 2017 Pardon my bouncing around, but I like to get everything in for my memories! Never thought we’d be able to cruise this week due to Hurricane Irma which hit just two days before. It was scheduled to go right over our town, but moved and came in over Naples. We did all hurricane preparation work and slept right through it. Awoke, grateful that we had no damage, not even lots of leaves. Just a few limbs fell in our development. So we finalized packing. Had to change from Comfort Inn, Bonita Springs to Cambria Suites in Miami. Our cousins, David & Elizabeth in Naples, had to evacuate. Naples and Bonita Springs hit hard. The Bonita Springs hotel that we intended to stay at the night before embarkation in Miami was out of power. Sad to drive past these areas with such damage. Miami got hit pretty hard also, but after much searching we were able to find a hotel there so we drove there directly the night before the cruise. Arrived 9/15 at Cambria Suites. $153 total. Great hotel although a bit out of the way. GPS took us through lots of side streets. Hotel had bedroom with door separate from living room w/second TV, desk area, microwave. Free shuttle to restaurants and shopping within 3 miles. Worked well for us. Ate at local Chili’s, two for one drinks, good as usual. Ask for high level room facing Lagoon. Parking lot safe. 9/16 Saturday – Drove to port, parked in covered G lot at port. $20 per night. Usually park in a closeby, less expensive lot, but read too many horror stories online about parking in such places in Miami. Arrive about 10:30, onboard 10:45. Cabin steward, Raymond, delivered our Fantastica 24 vouchers plus the 18 for $89 that I ordered before the cruise. Didn’t see him hardly at all during cruise, but cabin always clean and any extras requested taken care of, i.e., robes, lighter duvet, ice, etc. Bed was comfortable. Didn’t care for pillows. Muster was awful. We carried our life preservers to our indoor muster station and it was packed. Could hardly see anyone showing us how to put it on. Just told to do so and watch the TV movie for information when we got back to cabin. Captain Marco Massa was wonderful, informative, friendly, attended many events and activities. The Cruise Director, Stephen Cloete, was fun. The ship is beautiful with many things to do. The bartenders and waiters whom we encountered were not as friendly as on other ships except for one sensational bartender in the Golden Jazz Bar, Abhijit-Arondekar. There wasn’t much bar activity before the early shows as on other ships. We missed this socialization time. The food wasn’t as hot as we’d like, but we understood that. Portions small which was fine with us. Some dinners were good, others were pretty awful. Dinners lasted about 2.25 hours. Could not get Anytime Dining with Fantastica package so we chose early Assigned Dining. First night we were put with 5 Asian Americans. Although they were very nice, the conversation seemed strained and we really had little in common. Asked the Hotel Manager, “Ziggy”, from Poland, whom we met onboard if we could switch to sit with others we met for late dining. Next day, this was done, but apparently they put an extra table in a corner area for us and the waiter was very new or untrained. Too many problems to list here. Wrote polite note to Ziggy again to request table change and this was done. Great table with excellent servers on Night #3. Saw “The Voices” show…Fabulous. Sunday, September 17th Breakfast buffet good all week except for bacon which was really greasy. Lots of selections. Didn’t do the sitdown breakfasts. I did free yoga and aerobics on deck while Tom worked out at gym. I went to pool (Steel drum music was nice); Tom watched NFL Football for awhile in Sports Bar. Good bar type food including wings and burgers there. Waiter not very friendly at all. Felt we had to flag him down to get waited on even though there was no one else at bar. Held our Cruise Critic Mix & Mingle in the Black and White Lounge at 3PM. Wonderful time meeting the Captain, Officers, etc. Free bubbly, a special cake and hor d’oeurves. Also received a complimentary 8x10 group photo the next day. Went to Captains party before formal night, more free bubbly. Saw “Mask” with various dancers and acrobats. Good show. Costumes and choreography at all shows were wonderful. Chairs poolside and seats at shows weren’t a problem. Steward left clean pool towels in room. No place to return wet ones or get new ones poolside. Had to bring them back to our room each time. Didn’t see anyone picking towels up from seats if people left them for a long time. Music at Black and White bar was good; didn’t care for very loud volume of music in Golden Jazz bar. Monday, September 18th Went to Montego Bay. Walked half a block and had taxi drivers racing to get us. Paid $5 each (4 people)/$7 pp for only 2. Went to Doctor’s Cave beach. It was small, but pretty with decent snorkeling halfway to ropes on the left/middle. $6 entrance fee; $7 umbrella; $7 chair. Went to eat lunch and have a beer there. Reasonable prices. Started to have a bad thunderstorm so we left; took delicious wings with us. Return taxis easy to get. Took a nap and went for a predinner cocktail. Then to The Italian Classics show…Fabulous, mostly opera. There were quite a few things to do on schedules in the evenings, but we aren’t night people and just couldn’t “do it all”. Nice to awake to low music playing in the halls enroute to breakfast. Had to open door to hear Captain’s various announcements. Ship was immaculate. Elevators fast, but navigating the ship was difficult. Hard to figure out which elevators to take to certain floors. Tuesday, September 19 Grand Cayman. Decided to tender off ship after crowds. Mistake…very hot and not into the expensive stores. Bought a nice dress and t-shirt in one of the few small shops. Not much else to see. Walked around a bit and headed back to ship. Next time we definitely will do a beach stop. Did pool in afternoon. Saw the Witches show in evening with acrobats, dancers, great singers, French can-can theme. Great show. Our waiters who had been fabulous the night before were stressed and overworked at dinner. Felt sorry for them. Salmon good. NY type steak just so so. Turkey was turkey loaf – awful. The White Party started at 10:45 on deck. Lots of fun with some of the ship’s dancers doing a show there also. Wednesday, September 20 Costa Maya Quite a long walk to and through shopping area to get to taxi. I think there was a free shuttle if one wanted to wait. Then we took cab $2 pp to Tropicante. No problems with people stopping to ask us to go somewhere else. Arrived and they had our names with 2 great loungers awaiting under nylon type netting for shade, right by water. Carlos introduced us to our server, Alphonse, who was wonderful. Drinks and food excellent and reasonable. Had arozza con pollo (sp?) and chips and salsa. Asked for hot sauce…great! Very little seaweed. Did not need beach shoes. Snorkeled over grass further out and saw some small fish. Beach massage $30 hr on the beach. Not great, but felt good. Got taxi right outside the Malecon back to ship. Took a quick nap and went to specialty restaurant, Eataly Steakhouse. Excellent surf and turf. Tom’s filet had gristle in it though, so he sent it back and they replaced it immediately with a good one. Apologies given along with complimentary wine all night! Asked for Rowena, a recommended waitress, but she had too many tables already. However, she took the time to come over and thank us for requesting her and again, more free wine! Cannoli for dessert was out of this world and a cake with song followed for Tom’s birthday. Total bill - $47! During dinner we overhead someone bragging all night. He told two people with him that he would pick up their tab for their anniversary. Then he asked them to wait for him in bar while he paid. He immediately went to the hostess insisting that MSC pick up the tab for the foursome since one of their dinners was late!!! Amazing! A few times during the cruise an offer was made to get $3 free for slots in casino from 9 – 10 AM. We usually don’t play the slots, but did this. I won $57. Tom lost $10. Thursday, September 21 Did a Cruise Critic cabin crawl (Thanks Joe, Cindy and all involved!). Also played a poker type game enroute, ending back at the Silver Lounge. Nice to see different types of cabins. Yacht Club cabin was nice, but I never would or could pay the price for one. Happy with our standard Fantastica Balcony! Tom worked out afterward and I sat by pool. Party that night by Voyagers Club for people who had cruised on MSC before. Nice, light, hor d’ouevres and drinks. Captain and Officers again attended. Nice. Saw the Pirates Show that night. Excellent w/great costumes, singers, dancers, acrobats. On the second formal night, less people dressed up. Went to the Quest Show which was listed as “pg” in the program. Packed and not stadium seating as on other ships. We couldn’t see much so we left. Hurricane Maria and the earthquake in Mexico City took place during this cruise. Sad to see devastation on the TV. Our weather was gorgeous so we weren’t affected at all by Maria. Puerto Rico was hit hard. Chatted with friends after dinner in Black/White Lounge. Good music to dance to. The ship didn’t have much to buy onboard. The mini-bar was really cold compared to most ships’. Friday, September 22 Packed lots of stuff. 11:15 – took the ship’s snorkel excursion. Just 2.5 hours. Boarded a small boat and went about 40 minutes each way to Atol island area. Great snorkeling. Dinner was all good – Short ribs, salmon, pasta. Went to the Starwalker, Michael Jackson show. Nice, especially the part which I’ll keep as a surprise for those of you going on the Divina for the first time. At the end the Captain, staff, entertainers, etc. all came out for a great goodbye…Touched my heart! Said goodbye to our four friends/tablemates and then headed back to cabin. While bringing in some things from our balcony that night in the middle of the sea, I found a tiny bird. Don’t know what kind it was or how it got there, but I felt sorry for it. I looked out the door 15 minutes later and it apparently flew away. Saturday, September 23 Had a quick bite at the buffet and took our bags off ourselves at 7:30AM. Back to Terminal G. I tripped and fell at end of escalator, getting off, since my suitcase twisted. Just a little cut on my toe. We definitely will sail on MSC again. MSC has the best entertainment of any line. This is our 5th MSC cruise and they never fail to deliver a great cruise . Captain Marco was the best captain ever! He kept us safe and informed throughout our cruise to stay away from Hurricane Irma and was very personable and the most visable throughout the entire cruise. Entertainment was top notch, Las Vegas headliner type quality. excellent singers and dancers and performers. Cleanliness Ship was very clean and well maintained, cabin was always very clean. Embarkation was very fast and smooth, basically was on the ship in a couple minutes. .The bar service was variable with different drink quality, There are some things to pick about (main dining room was slow and our waiter was very abrupt, buffet busy, wifi sign up was confusing) but for the price I can't knock off a point for that. Overall, a great cruise Read Less

From the moment we arrived at the port, everything was wonderful. Embarkation was about 15 minutes long before we on the ship. The ship was very elegant and extremely clean. The ship is also environmentally friendly, using automatic lights in the cabins, and recycling. Our cabin was very nice and the the bathroom was the largest on any of our several cruises. The shower was a circular pod setup with glass doors that was actually big enough to move in. The food was plentiful and excellent along with the service, which was top notch. The public areas were very nice and the several pools and hot tubs were very clean. Several times throughout the week, we saw the water getting tested. One area with a pool and 3 hot tubs had a retractable roof, which was perfect for the rainy day in Jamaica. After reading all the reviews, we were a bit apprehensive about this cruise. After the weeklong cruise was over, (too soon), I honestly don’t know what anyone could complain about. We are looking forward to cruising with MSC again. Read Less

We sailed on MSC Divina on 9/16/17, this was a 7 night cruise. Our itinerary was changed due to Hurricane Irma. The ports of call were awesome. Let's start our review: Ship - Divina is an absolutely beautiful ship. Everything from the designs, decor and Swarovski crystal stairs make this ship just stunning. Cabin - We loved our cabin and were pleasantly surprised. It was in a great location. Our cabin steward always made sure our needs were taken care of. Cabin was spacious and we loved our secluded elevator across the hall. Dining - Our food was amazing, never had any issues with any of the food served at the buffet or in the restaurant. They do have the best pizza. There was never a time that I walked by without taking a slice. The carving station on the buffet was always good. The buffet also had great pasta selections. There was also a variety of desserts that were offered in the buffet. We had the best serving team in the MDR, Pepito and Jan. I have been on 23 other cruises and they were the best servers we ever had. All the food served in the dining room was well prepared. We were never disappointed in any of the entrees. Entertainment - The entertainment team was great. They always got everyone involved. Fernando the instructor for the dance classes was really good. Theater shows were great, especially the Michael Jackson show. Many nights they had trivia and special events going on that were sure not to disappoint. White Night was amazing, a must do for everyone. Ports - Our itinerary was, Montego Bay Jamaica, Georgetown Grand Cayman, Costa Maya Mexico and Nassau Bahamas. We enjoyed the change and loved our ports. Service - Our overall service during the week was great. We love MSC and can't wait to book our next cruise. We have now sailed 5 cruises with MSC. Captain Marco Massa was amazing. A really nice genuine person to speak with. Our cruise director was very good and also very funny and had some good jokes. Read Less

This was our second MSC cruise. We booked a window cabin and but MSC upgraded us to a balcony cabin. Fantastica included 24 drink tickets. I pre purchased a book of espresso tickets and the basic dinner wine package. The house wine was from California and was was fine for the price of 7 bottles for $91. This latest cruise was to return the day hurricane Irma hit South Florida. Our 7 night cruise turned into an 11 night cruise. MSC comped everyone internet access. We still had our nightly shows. The captain kept us informed. Optional discounted laundry service. 25% off a future cruise. The food is good, not spectacular. The wait staff was good, not great. The ship and our cabin were very clean. If you consider the price, you just can't beat it. Can't wait to check out the new Seaside. I missed the meet and greet because it was at 10:30am and something else planned. Did I miss anything there? Read Less

The cruise was overall wonderful and my husband and I will be planning a trip next year on their new mega ship, Seaside. It was a challenging cruise as we sailed around a developing hurricane Irma, exchanging our ports of St. Martin, San Juan, Nassau for Grand Cayman Island, Montego Bay, and Cozumel. We had indeed a most capable Captain Marco Massa whose utmost concern was the safety and comfort of his 4,500 passengers and crew. Many had to return home right away ahead of the storm and he handled this logistical nightmare with aplomb and compassion. He kept us well informed with briefings as soon as he received them and sailed in the smoothest bodies of water possible to keep us comfortable. Grazie Mille Capitano! We stayed 4 days beyond our 7 day trip with the generosity of MSC and with us only having to contribute to the daily service fees for the employees. Quite a few passengers remained on board a few more days until they could find flights home. Embarkation: We arrived at the Miami terminal around 11:30 and were on board around 1:00. Small terminal, large ship. It'll be much faster if you arrive later. Bring a sweater as the terminal was frigid. Cabin: We had a complimentary upgrade to a very quiet balcony cabin on the 8th deck aft. Bed and pillows were very comfortable. Loved the duvet cover as I feel this is much more sanitary than just sheets around a blanket. Furniture and carpet were a bit worn. Bathroom was the largest we've seen in our approx.10 cruise history. It had a tub, wall pump shampoo and body wash, pump hand soap, shower caps. You'll need to bring bar soap if you wish. Food: Overall, very good. Hit and miss. At the buffet, I had the most tender veal from the carving station, fresh homemade guacamole to disappointing items as well. Some casseroles were piping hot and others just warm. I never found food temperature to be a problem. Their freshly baked breads were awesome. They use real butter in their croissants where most other companies use margarine. They have " President" butter packs which is a very good brand. Pizza was excellent and plentiful. Self serve coffee was awful. Get their coffee package which is a very good deal. Beware of boarding day when it is true that there are no seats to be found. I suggest taking your plate outside by pool area if it's not too hot. My husband complained of low ceilings, flow of food stations and of tables not bussed quickly enough. Main Dining room was very busy and congested feeling. Entrees were generously sized except the first listed item which is always a pasta dish. Perhaps it's smaller because the pasta is eaten as a first course in Italy. Our dining companions loved the lasagna and ravioli. Only thing memorable for me was the gin cured gravlax. We didn't try any specialty restaurants. Service: Our friendly cabin attendant, Eric, did a fine job. Most everyone was polite and helpful and greeted us as we passed in the hallway. There were 3 incidents I encountered in the cafes and buffet where I felt the individuals needed more training in the art of customer service. Our Main Dining Room waiters were very nice but we felt had very heavy workloads so we never really interacted with them much. The management team was always out and about. We enjoyed chatting with the Captain and several members of the team. Entertainment: Grade A. Knowing this is very subjective, I was grateful for being spared jugglers, magicians and hypnotists and enjoyed the theatrical productions every night. They even put on impromptu performances on the unplanned extra days due to the hurricane. Did miss the comedy acts. Perhaps they can offer these in smaller lounges in different languages. Casino: smelled clean. No Craps table Gym: Machines in good working condition and never crowded. Activities: They had a very enjoyable "White" Party. Lots of dance lessons. Disembarkation was highly irregular due to returning to Miami much later so I won't comment on that. We will be looking forward to our next MSC cruise soon. Great value, relaxing, no pressure up selling, good activities and most of all, truly wonderful MSC people. Arrivederci! Read Less

We chose this cruise to sail once again (our 9th time) on Divina before our upcoming cruise on Seaside in January. Can't say enough good things about this ship, Captain Marco Massa and the entire staff and crew. So impressed with how they handled the extended days on ship due to the hurricane headed to Florida. The company was so accommodating to those wishing to disembark and those choosing to stay on board till it was safe to return home. Free WiFi for all during this time to be able to reach family and to make alternative travel arrangements. Divina is a beautiful ship and we have enjoyed staying in the Yacht Club and still have the opportunity to enjoy the entire ship. We dined in Le Muse most of the time for dinner. Being Black Card status, we did enjoy a great meal in the Eataly Steakhouse. Service was quick and very attentive. Now that the YC drinks have been extended to the entire ship, we were able to enjoy complimentary wine with this dinner. The Cruise Critic Meet & Greet for both weeks was very impressive. Several of the top staff officers attended and mixed and mingled with guests, including Captain Massa. The drinks and snacks were plentiful and the huge cake delicious. Well done, MSC!! The shows we attended were amazing as always. The troupe is so talented and fun to watch. We only went ashore 2 times during our 2+weeks cruise since we now travel for the ship and not the ports of call. Having docked in Cozumel for almost 3 days gave plenty time for the crew and passengers to enjoy the night life there. Read Less

Let's start at the beginning. Embarkation was very easy. Just a note for YC, as you get to the tent, do not give your luggage to the porters, the YC has their own porters to give your luggage priority delivery. We located the tent, approached the butler to check-in and drop off our bags. We were escorted through security without any wait. Then escorted to our check-in lounge where they take your info and let you relax until they are ready to check you in as they work though people. They have drinks and snacks set up. Once we were checked in, we were escorted onto the ship and got the child band. Once this was complete, we were led to the YC lounge to relax. Here, they have the kiosk to setup the account next to the concierge and set your preferred dining time so they can be ready for you. It isn't set in stone, but to get a handle on the crowds. The lounge: The staff here was excellent. The drinks were plentiful. The snacks varied each day and throughout the day and were excellent. Plenty of seating, never seemed crowded. They have live music at night as well. The One Pool/Buffet Area: The pool was very nice to have as it never had more than six people in it when we were there. The hot tubs seemed like they were personal as never had to share it with other people. There are plenty of loungers. The only downside is the lack of shade, but still very excellent space. The room: We had one of the larger square rooms and was very spacious. The walk-in closet was awesome. There was plenty of space even with a crib/pack n play. The channels on the TV were very similar to other lines. Le Muse: The food overall was very good. The service was superb. Nothing really anything to mention wrong with it. Hurricane: The way they handled the hurricane and communicated to everyone on board was amazing. They held daily updates in the theater. They let everyone know what things were happening and the captain was so awesome. Others: The YC does have a dedicated section in the theater on deck 7. The Meet and Greet was great and they give you the photo complimentary. The shows were great, my personal favorite was Treasure Island. The MJ show was also great but the ending was a great end to the cruise. Overall: The cruise was exceptional. We booked our next YC onboard for the Seaside and eagerly awaiting it to get here. I have been on 12 or so cruises in the past, this my first one with MSC. Embarkation could not have gone smoother. I began enjoying my first day on board in under an hour after arriving at the Port. First thing, got my credit card mated with my stateroom key card at the easy to use kiosk in the reception area. I found plenty of locator maps on the walls near the elevators enabling me to find my way around the ship. The buffet, tremendous. The pool area and pool bars, spacious. Cabin was clean as a whistle, and my Steward was solid in his duties. Entertainment was great at every venue. There are standouts that you can tell enjoyed their job and were entertaining just standing there doing nothing. I booked a restaurant package that included Eately Steakhouse (I give 5 stars), Galaxy Restaurant (I give 4 stars) and Eately Pizza (I give 3 stars). I am glad I experienced all three, but next time I will only enjoy the Steakhouse, as I feel it had a better selection and was the premier eating establishment on board. Due to the hurricane, we had a revised itinerary which didn't bother me in the least. We also received bonus days, making what was supposed to be a 7 day cruise into a 12 day cruise. I don't use excursions, preferring to blaze my own path in Montego Bay Jamaica, Georgetown Grand Cayman and Cozumel Mexico. Also because of the hurricane, we were in Cozumel from Saturday 9AM through Monday 3PM, allowing us to enjoy several restaurants in town and being able to come and go all hours of the day and night. This was clearly a plus, and something you never get to do when cruising. The whole crew and Captain Marco Massa were fantastic at handling all the extra details concerning the storm back home and keeping everyone informed and upbeat. Just a few differences from the other cruises I have been on: No ironing room or irons brought to your room, this must be done by staff for a fee and takes a day (I slipped Steward a $20 and got it back same day). No coffee makers in the room, you must get it from the buffet restaurant free (24 hrs) or one of the cafe's (7AM) for a charge, but much better coffee. Buffet restaurant did not have salt and pepper shakers, instead they had little packets of each. In summary, I loved this cruise, and will be back to MSC! Read Less

I choose this cruise, because it was a good value, and it was a new Cruise brand for me. After having been in more than 45 cruises, with brands as Carnival, NCL, Holland America, Royal Caribbean, Princess, MSC Divina proved to be on top. It really did. Fresh linnen everyday, this is a FIRST. The Stateroom attendant was just way too nice... Everyone as we walk around, always greeting us, this Cruise was really an amazing experience. The Shows are amazing, the food is delicious, the service is outstanding, the Director Crew Staff is spectacular... I have never seen such enthusiasm in the Cruise Director Staff, the Pool Parties are just way over the top, and all the way. The guests where all so happy, and everyone show to be really having a good time, and enjoying themselves. The entertainment in the clubs, is for all types of music, from Jazz, to Salsa, the clubs are amazing, the entertainment is first class entertainers. This Cruise Brand really goes above and beyond the cruise lines I have been. The Cruise Director is Amazing, the Captain is incredible. These personnel are always visible, and keeping in contact with the guests. Believe me, we took this cruise in a risk, from reading the previous reviews, but let me tell you, those reviews are so wrong. This Cruise brand is the BEST. For me, having been on most all cruise lines, this is my preference of cruise starting at the top best preferred Cruise Brand. MSC, Carnival, Princess, Celebrity, NCL, Holland America, and Royal Caribbean. Carnival has great food, love the comedy shows, the lobster always, the egyptian cotton linen and towels (signature bedding), the entertainment, it is the best. Princess, it is a classy Brand, excellent service, great food, great entertainment, no lobster. Celebrity, great food, great service, OK entertainment, OK Cleanliness, no lobster. NCL, excellent food, excellent service, great food, great shows, Yes lobster. Holland America, great ship, great public areas, great food, great entertainment, poor cleanliness, no lobster. Royal Caribbean... Poor Quality, they made their fame, and went to sleep... these Ships are way too huge, to be able to offer any type of service. The Cruise Directors you only see him on a TV screen... Not my preference at all... and I am a Emerald with them. But, price to price, if I have a choice with another brand, I use another brand. GO MSC, YOU WILL NOT BE WRONG WITH THEM AT ALL... Read Less

The Irma Hurricane hit the Eastern Caribbean our 3rd day out and the Divina and other ships skirted the storms as we watched CNN and got updates directly from the Captain Marco Massa each evening at 5 in the theater. We never had a rough sea day. We were given free internet, the beverage packages were continued, and help was given to those choosing to depart in the extra ports the changes in itinerary (due to Irma) dealt us. When we at last returned to Miami Tuesday we were allowed to stay on board free of charge until the following Saturday. So I got 1 week free!!! Then Miami was recovering and a new cruise group would come aboard. I felt completely safe and have nothing but high regard for the MSC folks. They went way above and beyond to secure our safety and made the trip unforgettable. We even got a 25%off coupon toward a future MSC cruise ! I don't think the other cruise lines were so generous. Due to the hurricane IRMA we had different ports than initially scheduled. MSC has done a fantastic job in that short period of time. It was amazing how fast the changes were done and how well they worked. One thing I would like to say about the coffee/juices stations at Calumet/Manitou Buffet: Some of these stations have a terrible design! When just two people go inside to get their coffee/juice no one can access this station. They are a real bottleneck in the entire operation.. Another thing that worried me was the HUGE AND VERY HEAVY trays that Calumet's/ Manitou's Employees were carrying with dish to be washed. A customized cart will be helpful, safer for the guests and will avoid any sue due to overweight at work and spinal problems. I would like to mention the excellent job of our Captain Mr. Marco Massa, and his crew, as well as the superb and very kind job of Mr. Alberto Rakotoarivony (room steward). Thanks to all MSC DIVINA's TEAM ! Congratulations for a job very well done in a very difficult time. Like Captain Massa told us: "It was cruise to remember for life!" Read Less
