2nd time cruising on MSCDivina. The first was wonderful, this time, horrible. We had several encounters in the dining room where we didn't get what we ordered, our party of 6 didn't get served at the same time where some were done eating while others hadn't been served. Too many inexperienced servers and assistants. Lots of not so tasty food too. The buffet was better, but nothing to write home about. Pool service was almost non-existent, more like get your own. The assistant manager of the jewelry department was downright rude and should look for a job where she doesn't interact with the public, as should several other staff members. Too many inexperienced servers and staff. On the other hand, Maria from excursions should be given a massive raise and train some of the other staff how to be courteous and provide spot on customer service. Take advantage of the free facial on deck 5. Read Less

I thought this was an upscale cruise .no fantisca expirience. No wheelchair at embarkation /disorginised check in.cabin had fold out couch which was broken and very uncomfortable [other passengers with simular cabins had same complaint.] 11 days having to sit on balcony to be comfortable. Food and service was below average,[waiter doubled as bussboy, and food was often cold and late. so called world class entertainment was a joke, sit downbreakfast and lunches at the black crab resturant came with waiters that did not care/service and food left a lot to be desired.the majority of the non food staff are great.my wife was provided with a wheelchair, always had help getting on and off the ship.the shore excursions were well organized with staff traveling on the busses.drinks are not free, every drink or bottled water has a service charge added to it.bartenders were like the food staff some good most bad.disembarkation was great,a crew member wheeled my wife to the parking area.this cruise was not what i expected or was promised when i booked it. I did complain at the service desk but nothing changed. I am in contact with a miami attorney about a refund for services promised but not provided. Read Less

The food was terrible. The only hot item for breakfast was an omelette which they did know how to make it properly with filling not inside of the eggs. The meals overall weren't that great and people beside us weren't happy at all. They cut back on the drinks at the meet and mingle, there was no welcome back party in the atrium and the did not have different drinks at the meet and mingle like they did on the Seaside. Found out that it is up to the cruise director (Jerome formally from RCL) wonder if the money isn't spent on the food and alcohol it goes into their pockets instead. The drinks at the garden bar were watered down and I did get a cap cod instead it was vodka (never tasted it at all) with a full can of cranberry juice which was watered down. They weren't mobility friendly. I felt sorry for the people that suffered because of this. The room was not set up for the meet and mingle as we sat by the bar area and the seat were not comfortable for everyone to sit at. We got tired of complaining about the service, food and the port area where we docked was were their ships from their shipping company dock not in the towns where other cruise lines dock. The price was reasonable with the drink package included. We met some wonderful people on the cruise and hope to meet with them again. Anyone buy any alcohol on the last night which was on sale. It was ridiculous as their was only one cash register and the employee had to use a calculator every time to figure out the 10% off. Really not in the system or a sheet to look at by the till not much selection. A bottle costing $17.00 would be $1.70 off. No calculator was used to figure out this price. Looking forward to going on a different cruise line. Have been on RCL, Carnival, Holland and no more MSC. The laundry package was a joke 10 for 10 which I wasted 30 minutes of my time because they did not deliver on time and the clothes were not pressed. Man in charge of the laundry told the two ladies at reception that I had to pay to have them pressed but they told him I prepaid on line with MSC. He was rude to them and I got the closed pressed after that. No V8 that was on the menu sorry out of it the whole cruise. Waiting 1 1/2 hrs in line to pay for my on board charges what a fun time that was along with a lot of other people and so much for walking off the ship with your luggage another long line. Thank goodness got to the airport in time. Spoke to Ziggy in charge of hotel services. Nothing changed after I explained about my issues. Good luck and MSC I do now agree stands for Miserable Sea Cruise. Read Less

Terrible food, hard beds, no cabin storage, no place to sit down except on the bed. Buffett was like a cattle call. Hours of operation for other eateries was CLOSED!!!and Closed!!! Never open when they should be!! Food terrible and NO service at all. No place to sit down and had to take our food to cabin to eat! Is this a luxury vacation? I don't think so. We hired our own drivers for the tours we wanted and that was the best part. Met met some lovely friends on this cruise but would not do it again. Take our money elsewhere! There never seemed to be enough help available for the number of passengers on board. Liked the crystal stairways for photos. Photographers were excellent! Pictures turned out great! Expensive !!! The staff were rude and smug. Bugs in my room, Lost my luggage for 2 days, food was mediocre at best. Buffet was like herding cattle The bartenders were overworked and understaffed. MSC needs to go back to Italy and stay out of the cruise ship business.I was on my honeymoon and treated like second class passengers. You had to stand in long lines to get things resolved. There were a lot of frustrated passengers on board the ship. Could not get Wi-fi to work another 2 hours in line. Wrong reservations to dinner stand back in line. Looking for luggage stand in line. Port of calls were great except Colon, Panama. We were suppose to go to Cristonbal Panama but was re-directed to Colon. What a crap hole. Panamanian police advised us to stay close to ship and not get out of eye sight of ship. Why would MSC take us to this place knowing that how dangerous this place is. I have been to third world countries and never felt in danger before. I e-mailed MSC and told them of my concerns and about my experience and they offered me $100 off my next cruise. That was another slap in the face. I can not get back my honeymoon nightmare and would not take another MSC cruise if it was FREE. Do your homework and read these reviews because i wish i had. This was our first cruise on MSC. My wife and I are both retired and experienced cruisers (32 and counting), mostly with NCL and Celebrity, also Holland America years ago. I will try to be brief, but could write pages on this Cruise from Hell. One passenger I met had three legal pages, single spaced, with complaints. Check in was a nightmare. We paid for priority boarding, but the lady just let everyone Q. Most cruise lines give you cabin key cards, take photos, check passports all at the first point of contact. Not MSC, first they check your passport, no scanner, by hand took at least five minutes for both of us. Then as we board, they take our picture. We are told it will be about two hours before our cabin is ready and our key card will be on the bed in our cabin. We go to the bar for a drink, but we have no key card, therefore it's a hassle to get a drink. When we go to our cabin, the door is OPEN and the cards are on the bed. Anyone could have come in and taken our cards. Oh, and the cabin number was printed on the card, not the last two or three numbers like on NCL and Celebrity, so if lost, someone could go to the cabin and steal whatever they find. I did mention this to an officer and they thought it would be a good idea to not print the full cabin number, you think? The food was constantly cold in the dining area. I will say our servers were great and tried their best to get us hot food, but they should not have had to go to extrodinary lengths to do so. Regarding the food, it was typical cruise food. Our chef was from India, so one would think it would have some taste. I have really low expectations about dining room and buffet food on ships today, it's my opinion that the bean counters are in charge of the menu, and of course they want passengers to dine in specialty restaurants. The crew were rude and surly for the most part. There were constant long lines at the "service desk" with complaints. I found it was better to go in the middle of the night when there were no lines. I did get to know the guy on the night shift, lol. We were told that MSC has great plans to build new and bigger cruise ships. My advice to them is to stick to cargo, and sell your passenger business, since they obviously treat people like cargo. The ship is very beautiful, obviously much money was spent on its design. There are too many trip hazards for those of us getting older. There are too many steps where they are not really necessary. There were also designs in the floor that were not flush with the floor and one could easily trip on them. The grand stairs look beautiful, very sparkly, but if you look down at them it's easy to become disoriented. We were on a repositioning transatlantic cruise, and about two days out, we no longer had satellite TV. When I called the desk they said, "we are in the middle of the Atlantic, and have no satellite". I mentioned that my guess was that they did not purchase the service, and later found out this was correct. In Bermuda we saw a lot of liquor being off loaded. We found out that when we were docked in New York, only wine and beer would be available. Apparently they had to pay tax on any liquor in stock, therefore, they just didn't have any. Bean counters at it again... I didn't mean to be this verbose, but I could go on and on with the reasons not to use this cruise line. If you're already booked, I hope your experience is better, but for us, we will NEVER set foot aboard another MSC cruise. Read Less

Sailing from Genoa on a transatlantic that arrived today into Port Miami. Crew is very hardworking and trying to work with what they have. Biggest issue with this ship is that there is a total lack of leadership and communication. Virtually no announcements when the ship is cleared, inconsistent information regarding ports, transportation and shore excursions. This bred a toxic environment among guests. Often shoving, pushing and swearing in multiple languages. A mess!!! Food was inconsistent quality and either overly salted ( Chef smokes???) or completely devoid of flavor. Steaks were tough and grisly and inedible. Servers are rushed and literally grab menus out of your hand when you’ve finished ordering. Be prepared to wait significantly betwee courses especially entrees even when you order immediately after being seated for your seating time. Best food items on the ship were Pastries and desserts in the dining room, fruit plate in the dining room at breakfast. Eat breakfast in the dining room, lunch in the buffet or off the ship and take your chances on dinner in the dining room. Daily program was often incorrect. Library was closed for training staff/ crew as they approached the US market for the season. So a 22 day voyage which had over 5 sea days often we couldn’t access he library! Lounge entertainment was good but theater located entertainment was 35 minutes max and if you like opera you should enjoy this cruise ship. Not the best quality. Dancers might be compared to your local dance classes back home. 22 day transatlantic cruise with many stops in Europe. Once we departed Tenerife satellite TV ended. Daily inquiries netted multiple excuses including we are working on it, we are transitioning to the US version and finally my personal favorite was, madam we can’t posaibly get tv in the Atlantic Ocean. Completely crazy! So NO TV for more than half the cruise including all the sea days making the crossing while Major breaking news was occurring in he US. No news whatsoever onboard and no compensation via complimentary WiFi time was offered. I appreciate that you don’t go on a cruise to watch TV but having access to news is important on a long voyage. They did offer some free in room movies but did not say they were “ free” until about day 5 without Tv so everyone thought they would be charged for the 8 or so movies offered. None of which were first run!! Disembarkation at most ports ( Marseille and Bermuda, NY and Miami) were terrible. Virtually NO announcements made. Ship never arrived in time and left NY nearly two hours later than stated but they DID NOT make an announcement re the delay for 45 minutes and then finally sailed away nearly 2 hours after. In Miami at the end of the cruise guest who were told to depart ship at 8:15 spent ONE HOUR STANDING IN THE TERMINAL WAITING FOR THEIR LUGGAGE. Their timing, organization and communication is VERY POOR. Just remember you get what you pay for and this cruise line that focuses on the European market has much to learn about customer service, communication and hospitality. Read Less

We were looking to do something different. Family & friends kept on about cruising, then we saw a cruise TV programme with Jane Macdonald raving about MSC. It looked amazing and as it embarks at valencia just 50 minutes from us, we thought great. We booked a wellness package for 1 week. Cabin with balcony not far from lifts,as my husband has dementia so less likely to get lost. Day we thought was smooth until we saw the state of our shower with mildew, soap and dispenser not working, hairs in basin, filthy carpet, stains on sofa and bed linen...stained with sweat marks! It took 3 visits to reception to get this matter resolved. They offered us complimentary shuttle bus tickets to Marseilles, which we didn't want to visit. Pizza soggy and inedible in Eatily and,as explained, 3 different coloured peppers does not constitute a vegetable pizza! Buffet always overcrowded, more like,a rugby scrum. Never once managed to get I to black crab for breakfast. Food lukewarm. Lifts overcrowded. Our room was on cupid deck, 13. The floor above is the buffet and terrace which we're not aware of at booking. Furniture being dragged and moved overhead at night, then the disco would start at midnight until 2/2.30am. Relax or rest? How??? I was surviving on little sleep. Excursion always early start and chaotic in deck 6 or 7 where you assemble. Portofino the best trip but not long enough to appreciate it. Stuff too busy chatting. Customer service poor. Read Less

It was a good deal in Australian newspapers. But, you get what you pay for... Ports were all fine, ship was clean, but food was so very disappointing. Not inviting at all, either in dining room or buffet. In fact, I felt quite ill, to try and select food in buffet. So very noisy and full of people. Announcements all made in many languages, and sometimes this came into your cabin. Including daily safety drill, due to oncoming passengers. The ship appears to be a bus, picking up and dropping off passengers at every port. Being sick onboard, due to "change of diet", it was 80 euros to see Dr to get medical certificate, in order for us to cancel an excursion due to illness ( I am not criticising the Dr, here..he was superb.)..staff made it very difficult to do this. One Shore Excursion was cancelled by cruise ship "due to not enough people"..over 3,000 passengers?? Verandah cabin had no sofa, and very small. Then, the settling of final account was very unusual. Due to them cancelling a tour, and us cancelling another, we had a credit..this credit HAD to be taken as Euros in cash on settling of account..if you did not go and get this, you lost it! A bit odd? As we paid in Australian dollars, we did not want Euros in cash at the end of a holiday! Not a good policy..all other cruise ships we have travelled with, have completed transactions on credit card automatically. Anyway, we will never cruise with MSC Cruises again, and would not recommend them to anyone. Read Less

The only positive thing that we found is the ship itself. (decoration etc) Everything else was very very poor. We bought the all inclusive drink package in the msc usa website over a month in advance, as it was charged from my bank account, I didnt worry about anything. The surprise came on our first day of cruise, when nobody could find our package! The only thing that we were told for days is that we should wait for a reply for their office to see IF they find something... my husband and I had to go to the reception everyday trying to sort this out, spend hours in there seeing them typing a lot of things in the computer, but not be done. They finally found the package after 4 days, and when we asked for a refund and said that we didn't want to use the package anymore, and pay individually for each drink, we were told that now that they have in their computer we have to use and the drinks that we have before would be refunded. HOW CAN WE USE A PACKAGE THAT WE PAY FOR 7 DAYS AND RECEIVED JUST ON THE 4TH DAY??? we can easily make a list of things that went wrong... we were so disappointed with everything that we just wanted to leave the cruise. 1- pay for something and don't use as we should 2- I ordered a birthday cake for my husband 2 months before and I asked to be delivered on his birthday (10/04) and they delivery a day before(when we arrived). When I saw it in the room I asked someone to pick it up and bring back on the arranged time on the next day... which they forgot to deliver back and the little surprise that I wanted to do was ruined. ( it was something that I payed for.) 3- ask for room services and be ignored. My husband has an injury on his feet and he needs to put some ice during the day and all the times that we asked we had to call 3 times to get it in the room. The staffs could be much more nice and friendly. We even met staff that complained about the way that the cruise works, saying that they don't get a proper training. To hear something like from a employee saying to a GUEST can show how unorganized this place is. 4- The shower drain in our room was blocked, we asked twice for the staff come to have a look and nothing was done. We even started to think that could be normal have the whole toiled flooded after shower... When on our very last day of cruise, we had a shower and saw it fixed. We told on the first they. We felt that they fixed for the next guest only. 5- the food and entertainment is very bad either. It was suppose to be a special trip for us to celebrate our birthday and our wedding anniversary and this is just ruining everything. Read Less

My second transatlantic cruise. I had a great experience last year on another company. This year friends invited me to go back on a transatlantic and experience MSC Divina. Could not been worse. To start with there was a lot of people with a very bad cold. I got a cold. The doctor on the sheep was kind of okay. The nurse touch my prescription tablets with her bare hands. The food from the “food court” was so boring. There was a mix of food smells that was very unpleasant. The egg station iwas so egg smelling. I eat and like eggs. However did not eat any because the smell was so strong. The paid restaurants are all italians. Entertainment? maybe two or three nights at the theater were okay. The service on the cabins and the waiters was good. The employees at the guest service could not been more rude. I had a very derespectful person when I went to ask them to take out a case of wine out from my billing because i did not bought any wine. He was defiant and made me feel like I had no right to make a complain. I do not have space here to write about my friend’s walker that did not make to the ship from Fort Lauderdale port. They underestimate the passagens capacity and/ or intelligence. Did not enjoy at all. I do not recomend and now I do not want to go even in another cruise line because I am afraid to have the same bad experience. Read Less

My husband and I chose this cruise after a very stressful year full of loss and trauma. We wanted to do something simple and a cruise seemed to fit that description. We don't usually cruise. We did go on one cruise on NCL to Bermuda and we were presently surprised by the variety of food options, no need for formal clothes and the variety of ages. On this cruise to the Caribbean on the MSC Divina, we found limited food options, two formal nights, virtually no variety of entertainment unless you like opera or musicals and rather rude staff. I will start with the positives and then go to the negatives. One positive is that the ship is beautiful and kept quite clean. It is a comfortable ship and there are plenty of pools and hot tubs. Another positive is that the drinks, coffee and desserts are good. The last positive is that the cabin attendant was very good, kind and hard-working. Now for the negatives: 1. The food is really very poor. There is a lack of variety and only three specialty restaurants (also there is a sports bar and a pizza restaurant). We tried all of the restaurants, paying extra because the food at the Black Crab was not so good. The specialty restaurants were not really worth the price and offered only four different entree choices. If you don't like beef or lamb, there isn't much for you. The seafood dishes were not so good. The buffet is just horrible. People are rude, cutting in line and then the food is the same every day. It had very little flavor and was just boring. The bed was like sleeping on a slab of concrete. We had a balcony room. The balcony was nice but the room was just so uncomfortable with only one uncomfortable chair to sit on. I slept about 2 hours per night because the bed was so uncomfortable. The staff are rude and when you complain, they are condescending. We did speak with a few people who were helpful but many were very rude. The excursions were terrible and over-priced. We had a better time on the days that we did things on our own (Cartagena and Bahamas). One excursion was just horrible - the one in Puerto Limon, Costa Rica. The tour guide was so rude, the tour was overpriced and it was just a bad experience. The entertainment is just geared toward opera and musicals. There is no real variety. It was just so achingly boring. The fellow cruisers, well, many of them seem to have a particular disdain for Americans or maybe for humanity, in general. I love people from all over the world and have travelled to every continent save Antarctica, but the people I encountered on this cruise were so rude, staring, rolling their eyes, cutting in line, and saving the deck chairs all day. We had to rent chairs up on the top deck because people would save their chairs with towels, go to breakfast, lunch or wherever and not return for hours at a time. In general, it was sort of an experiment in social Darwinism. Very little regard for others is what I observed. So...all in all, it was a really bad time. The only blessing is that the ship did not sink, the weather was great and I did not get food poisoning. No. I will never consider MSC again. If my husband and I ever cruise again, it might be on NCL again, if ever. Read Less

Our experience on the MSC Divina was absolutely terrible. This was our (10th cruise btw). We booked on the Divina for the Barbados cruise on Feb 15th, 2018, and were completely unaware that this was a VEGAN cruise. My wife and myself are not vegans. We had to deal with inferior meal service, inferior food on the non vegan side, (ie: quality of food was terrible, also the vegans would stop at the non vegan cafeteria and help themselves to all the fruit and vegetables available thus leaving nothing for the non vegans). I attempted to enter the vegan cafeteria and was told I was not permitted to enter due to the fact I was not a registered vegan and did not wear an identifying tag. The entertainment was less than inferior (the worst I have ever seen on a cruise line), only one early show for non vegans, however the vegan group could attend all shows and were provided with far superior entertainment. (Again we were not permitted to enter the theatre because of the registration / non name tag issue. We had requested anytime dining but upon embarkation we were made aware we had late dining due to the fact all the early / anytime dining was made available to the vegans. The only bright light were the excursions, and the service provided us by our room stewart. Let me be perfectly clear, I have no problem with a persons lifestyle (ie: vegan) however we should have been made aware by the cruise line / travel agency of any special treatment that was was being provided to another group (approx 2500 persons). After the cruise was completed I wrote MSC an e-mail addressing my concerns and was informed a response was forthcoming within 4 to 6 weeks, as of this date June 21, 2018 I have not received any response. Just another example of their shoddy service. Read Less

This was our 17th Cruise. After having to deal with MSC employees and failure to communicate we will never cruise with them again. At embarkation we had a hostess walk away from check in desk 25 minutes after opening to eat. She never said a word. So we waited for her to come back. After watching her eat one sandwich she then picked up another one. Remember they had just opened and the hostess went on break. At that point we switched lines and completed the check in. After getting onto the Divina we contacted the assistant maitre’d At the Black Crab. We were then told, for the 1st time, that the ship had a large tour group on board. The Holistic group had an agreement with cruise line to bring on their own chefs. Since it was such a large group Corporate office had told the ship Holistic would have early dining. This was interesting, since I had called Corporate 3 times in regards to port changes from hurricanes, and requesting early dining each time. Corporate never advised us about Holistc being on the ship or having all of 1st dining during these calls. After getting information we went to guest services and asked for phone number to Corporate office department who made decision on Holistic. I was directed to speak with male guest service manager. For the next 10 minutes he would not provide the number—never got the number. After the 10 minutes I switched to requesting a fix to dining. I requested the manager to set speciality dining reservations at pre cruise prices. The manager finally stated that he could do that and would call our room by 6pm that night. I told him to leave a message on the phone or on tv message board. Manager failed to do either. Next morning went back to guest services. Manager was helping other guests when he looked up and saw me. When these guests walked away the manager turned around and walked into office. After making several trips in and out of the guest services area over the next several minutes, Manager returned. When he looked up and saw me standing there you could physically see the irritation on his face. He started the conversation by stating he could not make the reservations without payment authorization. I asked what happened to the phone call. Manager stated that he called but no one picked up. When asked why he did not leave a message he started to get mad. He then said “Stop putting words in my mouth”. I asked him if he did not agree to setting the reservations. He again said “ You are putting words in my mouth” accusing me of lying. At this point my wife tried to assist on getting the reservations made. After several more minutes Manager finally tried to call the assistant head waiter. After contacting the assistant head waiter we got our reservations. We left guest services wondering how bad this cruise might be. Over the next couple of days we learned how much impact the large Holistic group would have on the cruise besides just the 1st seating at dinner. We found that several normal events (shopping lecture, late theatre show, lounges) were not scheduled or moved to accommodate Holistic conferences and lectures. The Buffett area was cut in half for breakfast and lunch as it was turned into a vegan area. The evening entertainment was also cut in half since theatre and lounges were being used by Holistic. MSC never advised they had a special/event cruise on this ship. So on the 6th day of the cruise my wife went to guest services and wouldn’t you know it she got same Manager again. My wife asked for the gratuity adjustment form. The manager stated that they were left in the desk drawer next to the phone. We had already looked at the paperwork left in that drawer and knew the forms were not there. The male manager insisted they were in the drawer and would not provide the forms. We walked back to our room and took all the paperwork out and carried it back to guest services. This time we got a different guest service employee and her statement was “the forms are not left in the rooms. I will call house keeping and have them left on your bed within the hour”. This was completely different then what we were just told by the male Manager. While walking back to our room the stewardess stopped us and gave us the forms out of her cart. Upon returning home we completed the cruise reviews sent by MSC. We waited to hear back from MSC but have received no response. Given all the problems we had and the refusal of guest services to provide proper service, MSC needs a vast improvement in customer service training. The Corporate office needs to list individual cruise weeks that contain a large group/event on the ships. Especially when it eleminates dining options and entertainment. These are two of the main reasons people take cruises. Read Less

We have been on quite a few very good MSC cruises previously and have just returned from the Caribbean on board MSC Divina. We booked the cruise in March 2017 and have never been informed of any special events or specialist parties on the ship. If we had, we would seriously considered cancelling, especially knowing now what it was going to be like. We embarked at Miami. We had requested early dining on a large table out of preference and for medical reasons. As we got on the ship we found banners round the pool advertising Holistic Holidays. No way did we appreciated what it was going to be like I went to see the maitre-de at 1pm to register to early dining to be told that there were 2000 vegans on the ship and the early dining was allocated to them. I was stood in a long line of passengers with the same problem, one especially an American passenger who was rather confrontational. We were advised to use the buffet or go to reception and request a cancellation of the cruise and get a refund !!! I explained that we had not travelled 5000 miles with diner suits and evening dresses to sit in a buffet. By this time we discovered that there were many, (100’s not a few) with the same problem. Willing to give the late dining a try and went for dinner. Two of us were sat by ourselves at a table for 6 with empty tables around us. This obviously reflected the problems. We had to eat at the buffet for the remainder of the first 10 days of our cruise. BUT, a lot of the charter group also eat at the buffet not in the allocated early dining restaurants. The special area for Vegan food was half of the buffet, but queues developed at that section and the Vegans just came to the non specialist section of the buffet and literally vacuumed up all the fruit and salads. It is amazing just how much salad and fruit 5 non meat eating people can take from a buffet. When it was mentioned we were told by the group that they were not willing to queue and anyway, the specialist food was not good. To quote your staff, they had never seen people eat so many bananas; five or six per person was not unusual. The lounges were turned into book stalls and the quiet areas of the ship were dominated with lectures every and all day to the Holistic groups. We even tried the theatre at non show times, but it was not available. On the last evening of the cruise I visited the library at 8 pm to hand in some books that I had read to be told that I could not stay as they were recording a TV interview with one of the “eminent” lecturers. I had a face to face meeting with the concierge who well appreciated the problem, but could do nothing about it. He sympathised, but it was out of his hands. I was told that there were many complaints and all had been recorded and passed to head office. The cruise was a catastrophe for us and many others. We were never informed that this was going to happen. The ship was literally hi-jacked by a charter group which totally ruined the cruise. The cruise was far below the standard we expected. Read Less

I chose this cruise because i went on the same ship 3 years ago and thoughth it was fantantic, this time it was awful. WORST cruise i have ever been on. They cut the entertainment to one half hour shows becauese "THE VEGANS" needed the theater. The entertainment was good but too much opera.. the food was not anything like the first cruise, it was hardly any choce. The crew didnt understand english which seems strange for a ship sailing from the U.S. The people we met (tThe Europeans) didn`t know why the staff couldn`t understand them either.A lot of the bars were off limits to us because they were being used by the VEGANS. Enen the gem lady was taken out of her normal venues. There was hardly anthing to do at nite. .And one more thing we were not allowed to have an early dinner. We had to have dinner starting at 8:30. We booked our cruise last year and was promised early dinner. Again THE VEGANS took up the early dinner no room for us. Read Less

I have been on 35 cruises starting in the late 1970"s. I have been on a lot of ships and this one twice. The first time 3 years ago. It was the cruise from HELL. None of the staff spoke English for one. food was at Carnival level Garbage and the service- we never got any. Now I was told and read many things had changed on this ship over the last 3 years. This is the biggist line of bull. This time I traveled with 50 people, all have 15-25 cruises each. Their review--NEVER AGAIN.The service is so bad. My room was not made up for the first time until after 4 PM everyday. Don't ask for ice in your room-you'll never get it. Dinner, another joke. We had a table for 8, saw the waiter every 15 minutes. He brings the water and bread then he's gone for 15 minutes who knows where. Then he comes back and takes your order, then he's gone for 15 minutes-who knows where. You sit there waiting and waiting for your food. Then when it come there's enough for half of you.The Entertainment was some of the same shows 3 years ago, but they were better then than now. Same people on stage for all the shows. You want to meet people on the ship? forget it. Out of 4300 people on board I think 200 were Americans. So now you learn how to talk to yourself. Do yourself a favor take Royal Caribbean, Celebrity or Princes lines. I give this ship and line a 1/2, only because the ship floats. Read Less

MSC is new to the Caribbean ports of call. I wanted to give them a try and the price was affordable. This is what I wrote to my travel agent and on the MSC survey: The following is for the 2nd cruise of our B2B. This 2nd cruise also had the Holistic Conference. There was a huge difference in service between the 2 cruises. Non-conference passengers suffered: 1. 5 days of paper towels instead of napkins at the buffet 2. no hand towels or wash cloths in the stateroom the day of embarkation 3. The buffet ran out of coffee cups and coffee everyday for breakfast - had to go into the conference part of the buffet, 4. we had first sitting at the dining room for the 1st cruise. During the 1st cruise, I received a notice that we had been moved to the second sitting for the second cruise. Mario was able to get us into the first sitting, however, day of embarkation we were rudely turned away, spoke to Daniella (restaurant manager) to no avail. We met the hotel Manager Mr O. Caci (not sure of the spelling). He helped us get to the 1st sitting a couple of days later. 5. We received two phone messages from reception. Reception assumed they knew what we wanted each time we called. They were incorrect each time, very unprofessional. 6. A disabled toilet near the buffet was only dribbling water from the faucet. I spoke to a maintenance man and he said it wasn't his job. The next day it was still dribbling. 7. Many of the above issues were discussed at the Cruise Critic meet & greet party with the officers. Nothing was resolved. I will now rate the 1st cruise. 1. Ran out of butter in the dining room for dinner. My husband walked to the buffet and brought back butter. 2. We bought the beverage package. The bar on fl7 refused to serve us drinks because they were setting up for the captain's party. 3. We often had to go to the bar to get our drinks instead of being served. 4. Asked for a second bar of soap and never received it. 5. Being at the 1st sitting we expected music for cocktail hour at 5pm. It didn't start until 5:30. Dealing with customer service/web site: 1. The web site never did show the 2 reservations at the same time. I emailed then my husband emailed. No one from the company ever called back. I will never use MSC again. Management on shore and on the ship have terrible customer service. The crew work very hard at their jobs. I was appalled when I heard that a refund of the TIPS could be requested. Everything that happened was due to lack of management response/training. Read Less

Chose this ship as seen with Jane McDonald and this was also my first trip with MSC and its my last. Have taken 19 cruises before with 4 different companies so see myself as experienced. Well... what an experience this turned out to be. My husband and I travelled to Miami ourselves and joined the ship. Chaotic boarding, PA system didn’t work properly but we boarded somehow. Luggage arrived 5 hours after drop off!, Cabin was at the rear of the ship so we had a large balcony with 2 loungers, 2 chairs and a footrest/table. Cabin decor ok sofa and a glass table which was in the way all the time and no where else to put it. Small tv at height so not much use plus no tv suitable for British passengers anyway of which we were very much the minority. This apparent when announcements were made, very few in English although translated in 5 other languages. Language barrier with staff, only found 2 who were very good and happy in their work. Others seemed v unhappy but this may be down to the fact a lot of what may have been the best staff departing the ship to transfer to MSC Seaside. It was obvious that there was v little customer service or waitering training. Found some to be very rude in the allocated dining rooms of which there were only 2 and more than 4000 passengers. Food in the Villa Rosa was served lukewarm or cold. No point sending back only to be microwaved and they weren’t interested. My steaming Chinese soup was served cold. If you order a drink and the whole table were all inclusive the waiter would put all charges on one cabin as he couldn’t be bothered to do separately. You may say it doesn’t matter but it’s just another CS shortfall. If you want a table for 2 there are none so you’ll end up with 6, 8 or 10. Hand cleanser placed outside restaurants but I would say only 1 out of 5 even bothered, this was the same in the buffet which is rather disgusting when you think how may people were using them at breakfast and lunch. Which leads me to the buffet area which we used 3 out of 10 evenings as the food would be hotter being under heaters. You take your life in your hands trying to get to the counter, food the same everyday for breakfast and lunch but there was so many rude people pushing and rushing to get everything, plates piled high and so much wastage left. By the way, under 11’s are free onboard so there were many children. photo gallery staff there were many, a photo priced too high at $23 for a small one so again so much wastage. So many staff employed wanting you to buy in all the shops which were well stocked. Service charge is $25 a day per person which you can remove or reduce. Won’t continue with negs as I’m sure they will follow. POSITIVES. Fantastic interior decor in all areas especially the Swarovski staircases, great variations of cocktails and coffees which was a bonus on the all inclusive. The entertainment in the theatre was the best ever so try not to miss any. Sorry to say though after waiting a year for the trip we were so glad to get off. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the itinerary. Our travel agent wasn't excited about our choice. The ship itself is a very nice ship. well kept and clean. We paid over $3300 (for 2) for an 11 night cruise which was advertised as a Fantastica experience. It was more like a mediocre experience. This means we were supposed to get a little better experience than the bottom level. The only thing I that was better was that the drink package was included in the price. The balcony room was the smallest we have ever had on any of our 15 previous cruises. Not even a couch to relax on. Had to sit on bed when in room. The food was average cruise food. a couple of specialty dining rooms were very good. The buffet at lunch and dinner was never fully open and the selections were limited. Saw people grabbing food with their hands in the buffet. Reported to maitre'd and food was quickly replaced. Entertainment was poor. Same thing every night with a different theme. Singing ,dancing and acrobats. No Broadway style shows. A disappointment. Also no drinks served at shows. Service was almost nonexistent at times. Very few servers around pool. The bartenders were very well trained. Didn't know how to mix drinks properly. Complained to shore excursions desk about bug spray in tour bus. Odor present and the wife's seat was wet. Requested to speak to someone. Was told a rep would contact us. 2 days no contact, but did receive a bottle of wine. Not interested. Left it on ship. Second complaint was about excursion in Freeport. City tour, lunch and beach. City tour consisted of driver pointing out post office, oil refinery and various new and used car dealers on way to beach. 2 shopping stops on way to beach. Beach dirty and very buggy. Advised excursion desk. The customer rep told us that we Americans were spoiled. This being an Italian cruise ship, we had many foreigners onboard, so all announcements were in 6 or 7 different languages. The fellow passengers were very rude no matter what was going on. We will not be traveling on MSC again. Read Less
