Background on myself. This was my 49th cruise on multiple lines. Never had a bad cruise. I'm not the type to get upset because someone forgot to leave enough towels or forgot my water. If you have an issue go talk to a Manager. 99% of the time it will be fixed. I always like to say YOU make the cruise not the cruise line. EMBARKATION: Arrived at 3pm took about 1 hour to get from curb to room. Thought it would be quicker arriving late but I guess some other cruisers had the same idea. CABIN: Inside Bella #10189. Found that there was more than enough storage space. only issue was that there is very little extra room in the cabin. Bathroom was OK. The extra outlet in the bathroom did not accept the American plug with the larger one side prong. If you can upgrade to Fantastica for the extra space do it. Steward was great. Made the room up in morning and while we were at dinner. Black Crab Restaurant: Service in the restaurant was very good. My GF has a Gluten allergy and was taken care of by Christian at dinner and Arthur at breakfast and lunch, both Head Waiters. There is a totally separate Gluten Free menu for each dinning segment which is presented when asked for. The Head waiters will take the order and serve the food which is prepared in a separate area of the kitchen, (no cross-contamination). The food was basically OK. No wow dinners. Was very disappointed with the Italian night meal. Again, just OK. Being an Italian owned line one would think this would be the showcase night, nope. Breakfast and lunch was the same every day. Basic breakfast and lunch items. Service was quick and consistent. Food, again just OK. Buffet: Only did breakfast and lunch here. Good variety and AWESOME pizza. Typical breakfast and lunch offerings. Pretty mush the same every day. Quality was good. Having 2 bars in the buffet area that served beer and wine was a treat. Espresso and cappuccinos are available at almost every bar. Entertainment: Only went to 2 shows, very average When you have a female singer (very good voice) singing New York New York in the Frank Sinatra tribute, no thanks. Almost all of the bars had a piano, guitar or sax player in the evening. These were VERY GOOD. We wished they would sing and play longer. Bars: Most bars gave OK service. The best bar that we found was The Garden Bar aft deck 15. The port side was smoking but the wind kept the area pretty smoke free. Toward the end of the cruise some bars started running out of things. They had these items at other bars so it got irritating to get something at one bar and not another.. Disembarkation: Best in a long time. We received orange tags which meant 10am . We arrived at the Poseidon theater at 10am and were in our car (we park at the port) at 10:35am. Overall an average cruise. Nothing to WOW us. We are sailing again on MSC Seaside in August. Almost all of the MSC veterans we spoke with said that the Seaside is a much better ship and they loved it. We will see. Any questions just ask. I'll try to get back ASAP. Read Less

We have been on NCL's Haven several times and enjoyed this immensely. However, their pricing has gone through the roof, and since we're also Canadian, NCL for now priced itself out of our range. We learned that MSC's Yacht Club (YC) on Divina could be a great alternative, with much more reasonable prices. Given the price difference, we knew to not expect the same high quality product as on NCL or Celebrity for that matter, but we anticipated at least something really good, especially being in the Yacht Club. We stayed in stateroom 15025. It was lovely. Great Butler (Sidonie). The balcony was sized appropriately. The room was clean and maintained well. However, on boarding we noted black water coming out of our bathroom tap! We were told this was due to recent maintenance of the plumbing, which is fine as the water cleared up after about 10 minutes of running it. Dining was a bit of a minefield. You had to listen closely to your waiter when he described the menu and then hopefully could guide you as to a good choice of entree etc. However, several waiters really did not offer this type of guidance. And in the end, no matter what one chose from the menu, there were problems. Mind you, they made the best lobster tails we've had at sea or even on land, but that's it. Other dishes were plated poorly to say the least and some were virtually inedible. I often just went for the alternate entrees that are always available. So almost every dinner I had the filet of beef. The meat quality was poor, and had a consistency suggesting that the meats were tenderized (e.g. with papain). We ate in two alternate dining rooms, Eataly and Galaxy. The former used to be their steak restaurant but no more. It's basically an Italian restaurant with admittedly excellent pizza! The Galaxy is mainly Asian tending to Japanese. The sushi here was interesting. The fish was obviously fresh and tasty but the use of rice was seriously overdone! When ordering you could substitute (say you don't like eel, and ask instead for salmon), you were charged even if you had a free dining package. But the charges were minimal; just annoying. We also noted that unlike the Haven or Sky Suite level on Celebrity we were asked for our Sea Passes way too often. On the other lines, once they know you, they don't ask again. To sum up the dining experience then, it did not even reach a level that we anticipated given the lower fare prices we paid. Apart from some standouts (lobster/pizza), the best compliment we could give for any one meal was, it wasn't bad! Finally in relation to dining, the outside buffet was limited in YC but the pasta chef there was excellent! So this was where we generally had lunch. The entertainment and activities were done well! The small ensemble groups were excellent! The theatre shows, not so much. We attended their version of La Traviata. The quality of the singing was such that one had to cover one's ears when some really bad notes were hit (and missed). But I would never expect opera on a ship to even approach the standards of, say, The Met and so I would still award kudos to MSC for trying something different. This said, theatre shows on NCL like Burn the Floor, and The Million Dollar Quartet were of excellent quality. Not Broadway but darned good. MSC needs to up their game in the larger theatre productions. The staff on this line are wonderful! I cannot say enough good about their friendliness and dedication to service. This said, we noted that surfaces of brass and the like were not cleaned often and were covered in hand-prints. On other lines you could not go more than 30 feet before seeing someone cleaning and polishing all surfaces but this was a rarity on MSC. I was surprised that they don't get Norovirus outbreaks more often than other ships quite frankly. When asking for a particular service one also had to be extremely precise! And even then, an order or orders were frequently mixed up. One really nice touch for YC pax is that a key card can be used to get express elevator service on the bank of elevators serving that area. Great idea! We did not use their shore excursions. The ports on this cruise were quite nice including St. Maarten. The YC deck has literally no shade but we knew that and brought our own umbrellas that attach to the chair (Versa-Brella). These were perfect and we recommend this for anyone who needs some shade. I subscribe to the notion that 'you get what you pay for', and didn't expect a 5 star experience for all aspects of the cruise. But in some areas we did see 4-5 star service/product, while in other important areas including dining I would say that we had a 2.5-3 star experience. Read Less

We chose this cruise based on price and itinerary. Even though we've read mixed reviews of this line, we decided to try it ourselves. 1) Cabin w/balcony was decent, but attendant was not observant enough. Didn't pick up dirty glasses on counter, and we had to ask for more toilet paper, shampoo (completely out), and body wash (very low). 2) Our dining room staff were excellent, but the food was just OK, nothing to rave about. However, 3) There were not enough wait staff in the various bars (when full of passengers). I went up to the bar and ordered drinks myself. 4) some of the mixed drinks did not taste like what we were used to, and in some of my wife's drinks, the Mint leaves were going brown. 5) The crew mixed up one of our excursions, and sent us on one we didn't want. Only found out once we were on the wrong bus, already outside of town. We went to excursion desk to talk about this, but they said that since we went on a tour, we would get no refund. They'll hear about this soon. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the ports it was visiting and the price was very good. We upgraded our Drinks on Us package to the Classic package and that was great - all the gelato (wonderful) wine and drinks we wanted. The service in the restaurant and the bars was poor and the food was mediocre at best. We ate in the main ding room most of the time. We booked one night in the Galaxy sushi restaurant and that was excellent. We had a poor experience in the Eataly restaurant. But we had the pizza at the bar outside the restaurant several times and that was excellent. My husband did one shore excursion - sailing an America’s cup yacht in St. Martin. That was a highlight of the trip for him. The ship is beautiful. Entertainment in the theatre was way too loud to the point of distortion. The jazz group in the Golden Lounge was excellent. We booked the thermal package which was good but could have been better. They have exactly six lounge chairs for everyone who is using the steam bath and sauna. The gym was always crowded and seemed too small for such a large ship. The pools were always crowded and people would put a towel on a chair in early morning to save it for themselves for the day. I had a good time but probably will not book another MSC cruise. I have had better experiences on other cruise lines. But the price is what tempted me. Read Less

Our first time on MSC, but we have taken lots of cruises on other lines from Silversea to NCL We went with open minds, expecting a more Euro experience than RCCL or Celebrity. However, the greediness, rudeness & loudness of some of the large groups of Europeans & Eastern Europeans was astounding, and we travel extensively through Europe regularly. This of course is not the fault of MSC, but beware if this is your first time. This was a back to back cruise, the first part was over Xmas, the second over New Year. The difference was noticeable, especially in the quality of food, for some bizarre reason. The Xmas part of the cruise had mainly good, sometimes very good food. The second part, in the same dining room( Villa Rossa) & with usually a very similar menu to the previous week, had mainly bad, sometimes very bad food! What could have happened? Had the executive chef fallen overboard!? The maitre d' shrugged off our question rather rudely. In fact we encountered rather abrupt rude service from several areas arounf the ship, including the bars where staff are seriously overworked, the excursions desk, where total indifference was present, & of course, Guest Services desk, where one hand didn't seem to know what the other hand was doing. Training is certainly required I feel. The highlight of the cruise( apart from the pizza & gelato!) was the lovely waiter in Villa Rossa, Anna Maria from Romania. If all staff could be like her then MSC would have no problems whatsoever. Our cabin steward( deck 12 aft) Ozzy from India was always helpful too. In short, good & bad from MSC but it could & should have been good & better! Read Less

First time on MSC, we chose because of the free "Drinks on Us" package and balcony. First the positives: The ship is gorgeous, very elegant and had many nice bars. Our room was great, the best we've had on a cruise. Comfy beds, a sitting area, plus a nice bathroom with a tub which my wife appreciated. Our attendant Juan was very helpful. Many of the staff seemed unhappy, the impression I got was they didn't really like the way they are treated by MSC. But if you smiled and spoke nicely to them, they would brighten up and were very friendly. We had 2 fabulous bar servers; Miguel by the pool and Isabelle in the lobby bar (our favorite hangout). They were wonderful. We hardly bothered with the dining room. We went 3 times, that's it. Many felt the same way. On our final dining room visit, I counted 1/3 of the tables empty. And the others only partially filled. Service was slow. We hardly saw the waiter, only when he dropped off the courses. Waste of time, you could get the same or better in the cafeteria. Without wasting 2 hours. I ordered lobster pasta and keylime pie. It looked and tasted like ChefBoyRDee ravioli out of a can. The dessert was a blob of lime pudding on a graham cracker. (Plain lime, not the tart keylime I was looking forward to) OTOH, the buffet was quite good, at least you could see what you're getting and choose. A decent carving station, plenty of other selections and fabulous pizza! Even the breakfast pizza was unique and very good. Desserts were lacking though. Only a tiny selection. I miss the huge selections of awesome desserts we get on Carnival. Entertainment was hit-and-miss. The singers were excellent, but some of the shows were lame. One night was opera. People began streaming out after 10 minutes or so. No comedy at all. We miss that. Some of the staffers did some pranks and antics prior to the shows and that was amusing. But besides that, there was no comedy at all. The drinks-on-us package was nice, but the 15% tip charge can sure add up. One stupid thing though.... -Champagne is free -Orange juice is free -But if you order a mimosa, you pay full freight because a mimosa is a "cocktail" Not MSC's fault but the behavior of some of the kids was horrible. One little brat in the dining room pulled down his pants and tried to pee into the ice bucket. Parents did nothing, it was the waiter who stopped him. The same kid peed all over the wading pool on the last seaday and closed it down. Thanks. Nearly impossible to get a deck chair unless you were early. The usual hogs who saved with a towel then left for 2 hours. One morning we saw a couple come down the elevator carrying deck chairs. They took them to their rooms the night before! Ridiculous, Embarkation was a fisaco. We waited in the holding pen until after noon. No communication as to the delays. Disembarkation sloooooow, I think half the ship did the early self-checkout. A long, long, long, long lineup to disembark. We had a great time though. Would we sail MSC again? Sure... if the price was right Read Less

MSC Divina Christmas Cruise 2018 Room 13095:- Clean and in good order, towels replaced twice daily and you even get beach / sun bed towels. Down side to room:- Pool deck above and overhangs so you don’t get the sun on the balcony. As it’s the pool deck above the chairs and tables are put out anywhere between 5.30 to 7am and there not gentle about it so it noisy with chairs and tables being dragged and thrown down. At night children running and / or people walking with heels on the noise resonates through into the room. Party’s / music around the pool deck at night go on till 12.15am which you can also hear the sound of thud thud thud till then. The hand sanitisers. Very few of then and they didn’t always work and certainly weren’t enforced, although the ship was clean even at Christmas with a lot of children on board. The main restaurant:- Food predominantly American was invariably cold, service wasn’t as it should of been “the excuse was it’s Christmas and they were busy. If they now the boat is full put staff in short staffed areas, Buffet:- Good food normally good variety of nationalities but yet again predominantly American. Nice that you could get lemonade and juices all day at no cost as well as the usual tea’s and coffee’s. If you are a pudding/cake fan (like me) prepare to be disappointed as it’s the same nearly everyday in the buffet. The up side was at 4pm the scones and biscuits were put out but be quick as like everything else people are very greedy and have plate fulls. There was also an ice cream dispenser at the very back of the pool deck help yourself “when it’s working”. Destinations were good, embarkation and disembarkation were easy “but remember to take a photo ID with you when you get of or you might have trouble getting past boarder control. We picked up with the cruise out of Miami so it was predominantly/ Americans / Hispanics The only thing which I found wrong is that every time the boat stopped, people would go mad at breakfast time and taking loads and I mean loads of food with them on an excursion, which would probably never get eaten. People do eat to excess on the cruise “but that’s only probably me with that one”. Overall impression you pay for what you get it’s not a Princess cruise or Cunard it was a good value for money cruise with good destinations but I felt a few more staff needed and a better menu in the main restaurant with hotter food. Met a lot of great employees. The cabin was great. Lots of room and though a lot of reviews say they is limited storage we thought it was great. TV is way to small for the room and like all cruise ships the channels are terrible. Food is pretty boring. The buffet (for breakfast) is EXACTLY the same every single day. Not overly impressed by the food The entertainment was excellent. Difficult to find the activities. Would have liked it BOLDED in the daily planner so you can easily see what was going on . Ports were good. Embarkation was delayed and there was NO communication to the thousands of people sitting in the lounge. Read Less

Title says it all. Price of this cruise was unbelievable. Ship was gorgeous. Balcony room at the rear of the ship was Fabulous. Food & service at our table in the black crab dining room was TERRIBLE! Take the cruise & eat at the buffet. Service at Eataly was terrible and extremely SLOW so we went up to the pizza buffet & ate the exact same thing. The staff didn’t look like they enjoyed working on this ship. It was just a boring job to most. They need more Karaoke . They offered it only 3 times and each night it didn’t start until 10:30 or 11:00 PM which is way too late and then it only went for one hour. Many people signed up to sing but we’re not able to do so because of the time element. Incorporate Carnival’s use of Karaoke & do it everyday/ & 2-3 times a day at decent hours so everyone gets a chance. Read Less

I choose this cruise because of the great rate we received. We travelled with no children. Balcony cabin room 11224...BTW HUGE BALCONY Now, we have that out thw way let me begin. The MSC Divina beautiful well maintained ship, staff is curtious. The specialty dining like most ships on the Divina you are VERY limlited. 1 is Italian and the other is the Galaxy restaurant. Which I highly recommend. The Italian I will not do it again the food was not worth the money. The food was cold and the waiter said what not to eat just because he was looking out for us. The Galaxy is highly recommended on tje list. We tried the main dining what a mess. Unless you like phesant and duck. The main dining room was almost empty by day 4. They all went buffet which was sad. We spoke to the chef, he said they were working on it. Entertainment was ok. No comedy, Queen and Opera, Frank Sinatra. All the reviews I heard was it was ok. Or my husband fell asleep. You never hear from the Captain of the boat. Let me explain, nothing about what ialand what time to get off the boat or return. So please read your daily paper. We did do excursions..we went to see the waterfalls Guadeloupe ww were very excited about this. Yes there ia walking about. Bring your own water because thw ship supplies you with none on the excursions. Embark and disembark with no issues. Drinks on us..is not what you think. They nickle and dime you. Every drink is 15% every one you get. You can upgrade only once abourd ship. Its expensive but..you can't just purchase one. If you have 2 in the cabin even if they don't drink your paying. Most importantly there ia no ATM on board. Casino money is charged right to your room So don't ne surprised at the end of the cruise. So if you want thia experience on MSC Divina please do, but be prepared to wait for your drinks. Happy cruising. Read Less

I was amazed of the service recieved and attitude of the staff who were always willing to please. We did not attend nightly show but other guests fid complain about the opera in s foriegn language. We participated in the three times a day latin dance classes and the activities at the aqua was quite enjoyable. The cruise was in the caribbean yet mostly latin music was played not the soca or reggae from the regions / countries visited as a Trinidadian i informed some of the activity staff of this. This was my wife and my honeymoon and we were really looking forward to good food and lots of dancing. Following are our thoughts on each category. Hope this helps anyone looking to have an enjoyable vacation. Ship The ship is beautiful other than the dining rooms which I believe are poorly designed compared to other ships I've been on. The staff is excellent and accommodating and always willing to assist. The only other real complaint I have is that the elevators are in an offset configuration which means you have to stand way back from them to see all the indicators and then the doors close so quickly, it's difficult to get to the elevator before they close. Itinerary They could have and should have chosen any port other than Jamaica which is just a rip-off no matter how you slice it. The Jamicans seem to have only one interest, your money and have no interest in making you want to come back to Jamaica. Cartagena, Columbia was very nice. See the old town and for food there is a little restaurant right across from the McDonalds and Burger King I'd highly recommend. They serve fresh fish and the food was excellent and inexpensive. In Panama, the city of Colon is basically a sxxx hole. It was so filthy, my wife and I just wanted to leave. Some of our travelling companions said that Panama City, about 90 minutes away was beautiful and had a nice old town as well as much to see and that it was clean. Limon, Costa Rica is beautiful and I'd recommend just taking a taxi to the beach and spend some time there eating and drinking the time away. Costa Maya was fantastic! The port was beautiful in every way. Great shopping, a dolphin sanctuary, beautiful pools, and great little shows. We took a party bus excursion that left you half drunk by the time you reached the beach where we were provided all the food, drink, beach chairs umbrellas, tables and a beautiful pool to relax in as well. The food was good but not great. The service was great and the drinks just kept coming.Such a contrast between there and dirty Jamaica. It was obvious the Mexicans wanted you to remember your time there and want to come back. Cozumel, which I've been to multiple times was very nice as well but one warning, if you're going to rent a car or scooters, do it online ahead of time with a reputable agency, otherwise, you may get a broken down piece of junk for the same price. If you rent a car or scooters, you can go see the sights and then go relax at one of the beach clubs like Carlos and Charlies where the food is excellent, San Francisco Beach or Paradise Beach Club. You'll have a great time on the beach there and it's only about 20 minutes from the cruise ports. The shopping is very good at the port as well but kind of expensive. The days at sea were quite nice. Lost of games and activities on deck. Dining This is where this cruise left both my wife and I and many many other passengers disappointed. I've been on about ten cruises prior to this one, including the MSC Lirica back in 2005, and this is by far, the worst food I've ever experienced on a cruise ship. The food in the main dining room many nights was barely edible. Cream soups with no cream, lasagna on the Italian night that was truthfully not fit to serve to a dog. I'm not exaggerating just being truthful. The buffet was no better. The best and most consistent item of all the food in both the dining room and the buffet was the breads and some of the pastries. The coffee was the absolute worst coffee I have ever had. Many times I believe they reused old burnt coffee as that's what it tasted like and I love coffee! Another issue that plagued me ever meal in the dining room was that the salt was also wet and would not come out of the shakers. I had to open them every meal, pour salt onto a plate and finger season my food. Has anyone ever heard of a little rice in the shaker to absorb moisture? The buffet is laid out so oddly that you literally would have to walk the entire buffet, approximately 8-10 serving stations to determine what was available. The most consistent items on the buffet were hamburgers and hot dogs. Much of the fruit wasn't ripe, the desserts were few and far between that were really tasty and the Hollandaise sauce for the Eggs Benedict was marginal at best...not much flavor. Cream of Asparagas soup with tapioca in it...very strange and as I said before, no heavy cream. Believe me, I kept looking for something that was really tasty and the items were few and far between. We're not high society passengers and aren't that picky but the food just wasn't tasty and most of all it was poorly cooked or executed. Cream of Asparagus soup with tapioca in it...very strange and as I said before, no heavy cream. I would give the Executive Chef on this ship an EPIC FAIL!!!!! There is no way they could have been tasting the food being served in their dining rooms or buffet because they wouldn't have served it that way. Drink Package As one other review put it, the drink package was very limited. So much so that even a Bloody Mary which is basically just a Bloody Mary mix and vodka wasn't part of the package. I did manage to find a decent drink in a gin and tonic with a little lime cordial and a wedge of lime so I did enjoy those. I would have upgraded to the higher package but it would have been another $26 per day each for a total of an additional $572 which would have meant an addition $5-$10 each per day in gratuities making it near $1,000 to upgrade...no thank you! Entertainment The entertainment was overall good especially the poolside games and activities. My wife and I had been looking forward to dancing the night away at the disco but we found that the DJ was only catering to a Latin crowd and the volume was so loud it made our ears hurt. Don't get me wrong, I was a professional musician and like it pretty loud but this was over the top. The music the DJ played was as if he was in Miami playing for a latino crowd only and after we participated in the Karaoke on multiple nights after which the DJ would take over we could see others that wanted to dance too but the volume and lack of any variance in the music would drive them away. One night we were waiting and waiting wanting to dance and finally left after the DJ played 10+ latin songs that we didn't even recognize while blasting the volume to unreasonable levels. I understand and desire a mix so that everyone can enjoy and relate to the music being played. No...not looking for Glen Miller just maybe some Michael Jackson, NEO, Nelly, Sean Paul, Brittany Spears, Back Street Boys AC/DC, Aerosmith, Westlife, Coldplay etc but nothing...just boom boom boom latin music. I wanted to slap the DJ upside the head as this really took away something we were looking forward to on our cruise. Final Thoughts In all good conscience, I could not recommend this cruiseline to anyone because of the food. Everything else was within standards for a cruise ship and some things were even exceptional but the food was so sub-standard that I'd have to tell someone to pick another cruiseline and this wasn't only my thoughts but the thoughts of some German, Russian and New Zealand passengers that we had conversations with on the ship as well. We're not high society passengers and aren't that picky but the food just wasn't tasty and most of all it was poorly cooked or executed and there were a lot of little things like the salt shakers that were a continuous aggravation. The food along with the late night entertainment issues left me sorely disappointed and wanting for a better experience...especially for our honeymoon! Read Less

I will start this review with my feeling that there really is no BAD cruise, but some are better than others. I sailed on MSC SEASIDE in May and was for the most part, very impressed, as that was my first time on MSC. The promotion that tempted me for this trip was just too good to pass up, so we decided to give Divina shot. Regrets, no. Bad cruise, no…Others were better, however. My experience on MSC Divina was enjoyable however there are some things that future cruisers should keep in mind. This is a very nice, large (a little older) ship. In my opinion, it was very confusing to get around. It took me several days to begin to get some bearing. There are MANY elevators and some of what I referred to as secret elevators. You really need to study the layout and explore this ship to get around effectively. You WILL probably get lost in the beginning. Don’t worry, you aren’t alone. That being said, I did not experience long waits for elevators throughout the week, as I had expected. They were pretty fast. It just took time to get from point a to point b as some of the public decks do not connect with each other. (and I dare you to try to find the jogging track!) Initially, I felt the ship very confusing, due to the above reasons… after a few days, I felt it to be more annoying! This was due to the fact that the majority of the 3600 passengers were from all over the world and very few were from USA (maybe 20% on this trip, I was told). That made for communication and some cultural differences, which are tolerable, but the people were just many times rude! Cutting in line, pushy, bumping into you without an acknowledgment or excuse me…and no concern what so ever, mostly just stopping where ever they happen to be at the time, to have a conversation….even if it is in the middle of the buffet traffic flow, which happened everyday!. The same rudeness was experienced with the elevators. There is no consideration for anyone getting off, when the doors opened…all just piled in and did not yield to people exiting, and if you try to get on and people were already in there, they would just not move. I had to “weave around” then to find a space near the back or sides, instead of the person standing in the middle just moving! So annoying. The next most annoying feature on this trip though is the chair HOGS…not savers, because mostly they just NEVER showed up……but towels were out on ALL available chairs by 7:30 AM on sea days……every time, even when the weather was not good! The worst part is that I literally saw these chars empty for most of the day. It’s Just plain rude and pointless. There are plenty of chairs and spaces on the ship, and people come and go. I do not understand the “entitlement” of some people. There was NO enforcement of their lax policy of not doing this on this ship. These are the things that I could not “get past” on this trip, because they don’t need to be…. That being said, I am on vacation and not going to sweat the small stuff. If this behavior bothers you, think carefully before booking on Divina. Would I book Divina again? NO Would I book Seaside again YES. Divina is clearly still a European ship, alternating with Med and Caribbean seasons; while the Seaside which has been built for US market, and year round Caribbean “gets it” more. This was a longer trip for me; 11 days over Thanksgiving holiday. The demographic was all ages, mostly older and we had a good itinerary to break it up. I love cruising, but for me, even with the excursions and diversions, I was getting kind of bored towards the end…not so much of being on the ship for too long, but mostly because it seemed to be the same thing (on board) day after day. The cruise staff was energetic and tried to engage people, but on this ship, the variety of languages is and will remain their biggest downfall. Crew and staff speaking, trying to engage and get involvement; and passengers just not listening or understanding…… So, not much staff could do about it. I would think with today's technology that it could be a simple fix of an app on your phone with a translator and head phones….it seems to work at UN and would be a great improvement on a multi cultural ship like this one. Mostly though, it seemed to be the same thing every day…..Even and especially with the show at night. . I was really looking forward to the shows because on SEASIDE they were fantastic, every night. On Divina; not so much. The singers and dancers were very talented and worked hard but every night it was the same thing……singing with some back up dancers (weird and distracting choreography) and ZERO sets. For 10 nights we saw stairs on the stage. That is all; just stairs. Finally, the pirate show…which was great. It was a show, not just song fest, and it is what I would have expected for each night, or at least a couple. I skipped the Opera and walked out on a couple of others…just got bored. The “ pre show” however was very entertaining. Go early, it’s the best part of the show. Cukoo! The entertainment around the ship through out the evening was plentiful….La Luna Piano Bar (never saw the piano beinge played on time the whole trip) but an nice duo each night. The Golden Jazz Club (never was any jazz in there) but high energy Latin music each night, The piazza had piano and dance music nightly. Lots of venues throughout the ship. Many Theme nights and typical trivia and karaoke. I do miss the comedy shows. I imagine it is impossible with the language diversity. (that could be a great comedy show in itself!) With spent time (and money) in the casino. Actually won a little in the long run. BlackJack , slots, roulette but sadly NO CRAPS on MSC. I really miss that. The food and service was good. Food plentiful…but again boring . The buffet, although HUGE; was literally the same thing every day. Lots of food and variety, same each day. Period…..The dining room was nice and service was very good, food was ok too. The pizza was GREAT! (People were annoying….no flow of traffic, stopping in the middle of lines to talk WITH strollers!) Oblivious. Ports were good. We did two excursions and only one complaint. The tour was supposed to be English; There was a 2nd one of the same for multilingual, however, out tour guide instructed us that there were many Germans and she was told to be bi lingual. So there was constant translating and not enough “tour info” Actually much was spoken in German and I found myself tuning out. That was disappointing and my complaint fell on deaf ears. We received chocolate dipped strawberries for our inconvenience! I thought maybe partial credit would have been more appropriate and I would NOT have booked this had I known about the language. All in all, the ship is pretty and clean. The cabin in nice and spacious, and clean. The staff is nice, efficient and friendly. The price was right and we enjoyed our vacation. Would I sail Divina again, probably not. There are too many other ships to experience. Read Less

Free beverage package which was very limited, great mattress, great attentive housekeeper for our cabin always ready to give us what we needed. Entertainment was ok a lot of singing and the music was so loud you really could not understand what they were singing. The Last night entertainment was very good, funny and the acrobats were so good. Wish they had one not of just a comedian instead of all the singing. Bartenders great very busy at times, but once they saw us they knew what we wanted, wait staff excellent. Inside cabin, nice size bathroom. Took one msc excursion and it was worth the money. We got cabs for our other touring. Lots of children on this ship I thought, but no impact on us. Would I go on MSC cruise again, maybe not prefer Princess, the need a new chef menu said one thing and most of the time it was not what we expected. Example we ordered the sea Scallop dinner it was bay scallops smaller than a dime and maybe three in this big dish of noodles with who knows what sauce, that went back along with the risotto terrible. We never went back for the final night, Mario the man in charge was funny and nice we finally had to tell him how bad the food was. Read Less

We chose this sailing for the nice long itinery and the opportunity to sail in the Yacht Club. The ship is beautiful and our cabin was very nice. Think we realized we are not really "butler" people as while he was very nice we really didn't feel the need to utilize him very often. The crowd was mostly European and English was the minority language in the Yacht Club. We loved that part and the people we met were very nice, if a bit reserved. The alcohol flows freely in the Yacht Club and they never even ask for your card. We had heard that an 18% gratuity would be added to each drink but that never happened. The biggest drawback is the Le Muse restaurant being at the back of the ship. It made us only go there for 1 breakfast and 1 lunch as was just easier to grab something light from the pool area. Dinners were ok but not special. Wait staff was excellent and attentive but the dishes were pedestrian. About what would get from average restaurant, not what you would expect from their top tier venue. We found the entertainment lacking and there was little going on during the day. At night the lounge band played the same songs every night, and that gets old on a 12 day sailing. The classical pianists were excellent and we often just relaxed in a bar with a nice cocktail listening to Mozart. The main theater was hit or miss. Singers not very good but the acrobats and aerialist were very good. Overall we had a nice time but think we expected more "wow" in the Yacht Club. Planning our next cruise on RCCL. Read Less

Choose this crew based on the itinerary. Have sailed the MSC Divina 4 times before and this time the inconsistencies were evident but given the low price point, we still had fun. Was the cruise perfect? NO. There were plenty of 10's and Plenty's of 0's and stuff in between. First the 10's for us. Embarkation was perfect. The bars and bar staff on the middle of the ship were awesome. Casino and casino bar staff were awesome. The sports bar was fun and entertainment except when people bowled. why stick a bowling alley in an open air sports bar? SMH. Galaxy Shushi restaurant was awesome with food and staff. La Cantina di Bacco and the made to order brick oven pizza awesome. Go see Rosario for a great pie. Zero's - MDR food and staff at our table were horrible. Went 3 times at the beginning of the cruise only. Each time we waited over 1.5 hours for dinner and drinks were never replinshed. Food quality was really inconsistent. Service was so bad they comped a specialty restaurant. Never went back after that. The ship is 6 years old and it is starting to show its age. The staff does a great job of maintaining it clean but you can see wear and tear over the years. Entertainment was okay on the Divina. Nothing spectacular but nothing horrible although the tribute to Tina Turner was highly questionable. Overall an average cruise but again given the price point compared to other cruise lines, you can see where the difference is missing. Would we sail MSC cruises again? Not sure anymore. Read Less

This was our first MSC cruise, we have done about 20 cruises most others on ncl, Celebrity and HAL. We enjoy trying new experiences and saw a great deal for a balcony cabin with drinks, we even upgraded the drinks package and the cost per day was still under $200. We used their status match to gain black status under the MSC program, this enabled us to use priority check in, the line for check in was so short that it didn’t help but we were allowed to board the ship earlier. The ship is gorgeous both outside and internally, with the magnificent staircase the showpiece. We had just disembarked the NCL epic and despite being similar sizes this ship felt far more spacious. The internal public areas stretched over 3 floors on the lower levels plus the upper floor buffet, disco and spa. The outdoor areas were also spacious with several hidden sun areas. There were loads of bars and cafes and the theatre is huge. I loved that it was easy to see the ocean from so many different locations (except forward). Our cabin was a “Bella” on deck 9 it was larger than expected with a full sofa. Storage was good and the balcony was a reasonable size. The bathroom is a little smaller than other ships but functioned fine with only one person at a time. There is a stark lack of amenities in the bathroom. The bed was comfortable. The tv had basic channels but more than on other mainline ships we have tried. We enjoyed using our balcony although the smoke and ash from smokers on the promenade and those flaunting the rules occasionally marred the experience. Dining - this was the major disappointment with the cruise. Things appeared great on embarkation with a huge buffet spread including amazing cheeses and cold cuts, fabulous pizza and salads but this turned out to be the only highlight. There are 2 mdr but you are assigned to fixed dining and shared tables. We begged for and received one of the few 2 tops but it was adjacent to the front door and was an uncomfortable position. Service was efficient but the food was simply terrible. Easily the worst food I have experienced on a cruise ship. The pasta was an embarrassment to an Italian line. On a normal cruise we would never dine in the buffet for dinner but on this cruise we had to give up on the mdr. The buffet wasn’t much better with only half the stations open, the meat was very poor quality. By the end we limited ourselves to pizza and salad. We tried the Italian specialty restaurant as we had a free meal there under our status. We were given a table next to a tv with sports playing, a bag of torn stale bread (I thought it was to feed fish with), an incredibly limited option of courses we could choose. The main food was good, the service was aloof. I would not pay the high prices they were demanding otherwise but I understand given how bad the food in the mdr was why people would pay. Entertainment- The cruise director was the worst we have come across. He rarely made an appearance and when he did he spoke in such a cockney accent that even myself as an Australian struggled to understand him. the nightly shows were basic song and dance numbers using the same cast, in a couple of shows acrobatic performers were incorporated which helped improve the standard. It was such a shame to see such an amazing theatre and stage so under-utilised with next to no stage production. The audience receptions were very muted. There were a couple of opera performances which was a nice change. There was a large activities staff with a lot of activities but generally poor in comparison to NCL. There was a lot of dance classes which were lots of fun. There was one water slide. 3 pools was an upside. The formula one car was fun but was regularly broken (most noticeably when they offered it as a prize for trivia games hmmm). Service - average overall. Bar staff were very mixed but the problem was the drinks packages were confusing, the upgrade offerings onboard were different to those offered via the internet and this led to a lot of confusion. We finally requested a meeting with management who simply denied there was a problem, to their credit though they must have marked our card as from that moment onward we were given almost anything we liked. However wine was still regularly poured into tumblers. The beer and wine offerings were very inconsistent between locations. The quality of cocktails was the worst we have encountered. The good points were that they would simply leave the whole bottle of wine on the table in the mdr. The coffee was the best we have had at sea. There were 2 great coffee bars and the gelato was also great. Guest relations was probably the best we have encountered, still average but better than normal, with questions able to be answered, problems followed up, and the telephone actually answered. The gym was great, open and airy with loads of equipment. The spa was terrible, the staff were statutes. The thermal area had his and her steam rooms and saunas but no jacuzzi or spa. A very small resting area with no drinks or easy towel access. The change rooms had no amenities at all ... completely ridiculous. We did one shore excursion which simple reiterated my long held belief to never do the, again. We were treated like children forced to stand in lines and yelled at as if we could not understand basic instructions. The snorkeling trip was promised as 3 reef locations of National Geographic style, it was a beginners style experience with life jackets enforced, the 3 locations were within 100 metres of each other clearly on the same reef next to another cruise ship in jelly fish infested waters that my wife is now suffering scars from. I still believe I should sue both companies for how bad this experience was. I am not sure we would cruise with MSC again despite loving our cabin and the public areas, the food and dining experiences were simply too poor. There was a lack of interest by senior officers and management and it just led to a feeling of chaos. We were regularly informed that there had been a large staff turnover just 10 days prior but good management should overcome this. Read Less

My husband and I smoke and the main smoking area in the Garden Bar (aft) was perfect. If you choose this cruise and don’t smoke, John is someone to meet. He’s been on the ship for 7 years. I was not impressed with the food. My hope is that MSC will catch up to the American taste and style of food. The food was bland. We sail Carnival most of the time. We look forward to getting dressed up and having a dinner full of flavor. Flavor was never a part of the MDR experience. We skipped at least 4 dinners on a 10 day. Overall, we met some remarkable people, staff and fellow cruisers. If I had to choose a cruise line, I’d choose Carnival or Royal Caribbean for the food. I do believe, “Drinks On Us”, made for a fantastic voyage on MSC Divina. Read Less

I uploaded all of the daily planners I took pictures of do you have an idea of what to expect. The ship is beautiful, but I didn't come to look at the beautiful ship. The entertainment on the ship was not for us. The main shows at night were singers with background dancers. Many of the songs were not in English, which we understand because it is a European cruise line, but we didn't sit through any of the shows. No comedians, no magicians, nothing of the sort. We appreciated that there was sectioned off smoking in the casino. It wasn't very smoky in the non-smokring section and we didn't feel the need to shower from the smell every night after gambling for a bit. NO ATM ON BOARD. You can get a cash advance for a charge of 5% at the guest relations desk. The flow of traffic with people from other countries who are not used to walking to the right was weird. Pizza is available 24/7. We liked the selection of food. There is something for almost everyone, even picky eaters like me. I say almost because I don't know how vegetarians or gluten people eat without starving. The toilet in our stateroom was set diagonal and when you sit on it, your leg touches the tiny showers fold in door. If you're a large person, I highly suggest you ask about the size of the shower in your room. The pools are saltwater pools. Read Less

MSC is a wonderful cruise line. I was on a casino comped cruise and at first very excited to have a room assigned to me on the 13th floor. Only one floor down from the buffet. Although the ship is very beautiful and our interior room was nice, it was noisy from the overhead buffet and a storage closet next door that had carts banging together during the night. On the 4th night we heard water running outside our door, coming through the light fixture in the ceiling. We placed a garbage can under the running water and emptied the bucket as it filled. I called Guest Services to report and to get maintenance to come stop the leak. I was laughed at the first time and advised the young lady that this was serious and needed immediate attention, 20 min. later , I called again and spoke to the same lady, after hanging up and waiting another 15 minutes I went to Guest Services to speak to the manager. We received a bottle of champagane and strawberries when I requested another room. 2nights later the same thing happened only this time it was inside the room and over the bed. Head of housekeeping came and was very nice. Still I would say room 13137 has not the best cruise memories for me. We did love the ports and met many wonderful people on this cruise. The buffet food was very good and MDR was just of on the food but our tablemates were awesome. Casino hosts and cocktail parties were very well done and nice. Casino slots were not paying well this cruise. There were some of the newer games on board though and casino was crowded most of the time. Shows were nice but I missed the Michael Jackson show. Dancers ,singers and set were beautiful. MSC had lots of deals for this cruise and the prices and packages were a great value. I will say that after 10 days of so many different languages being spoken and heard that I was glad to get home to my amiliar southern roots. I like MSC and I'm grateful for the comped room. I hope to cruise them again. Read Less

Could not eat it. A lot of casserole dishes and bread. They fill you up with bread. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would give them a 3 on all meals. Like I said you get what you pay for. Entertainment on a scale of 1 to 10 I give them a 2 or 3. Same group of people every night. I have seen high school students do better. 1 night the show was a 8 on scale of 1 to 10. Overall entertainment was lousy. PS If you want a cheap trip ok. If you want a good trip try another cruise line. Read Less

I believe you make the cruise/experience and the ship is there to enhance that experience. In this case MSC has some work to do if they want to attract a broader audience, especially the western cruiser. Ship is nice, but needs some modern touches. Staff/crew work hard and at times seemed like some areas were simply understaffed. Food was just average with little variety from day to day. With any cruise/vacation I keep my expectations set to average so that I’m not disappointed, in this case I’m glad I did. Good price for the number of days, but runner out of items and not addressing gaps will cost MSC repeat cruisers and those that want a new experience. We tried it and not sure if we would do it again. Will add that the shows were very good and the performers are a dedicated group! I would recommend this part of the cruise. Read Less

Cookies in afternoon were delicious. Juice was lukewarm in morning, hot tea water also lukewarm. Buffet lunch was best meal, six different pizzas and good assortment of hot food, cheeses and lunch meats, fruit and desserts Photographers everywhere wanting to take your picture. Entertainment was boring, each night had same lighted stair background, singers and dancers doing same routine. The two lead singers were excellent, though. Cabin very clean and comfortable. Ship felt very crowded in atrium. Most activities were done on pool deck or at 10:30 at night. Daily trivia only allowed two persons per team, guess they did not want to give away too many prizes. We had been warned by our travel agent that this was an Italian cruise line and things would be different, especially the meals. She was right. The Divina is a beautiful ship. Embarkation was smooth and went quickly. The staff was polite but not overly friendly. They do not seem to interact with the passengers like staff on other cruise lines. Of all the cruises we have been on, we saw the cruise director, Jerome, the least of any cruise director on past ships. Bingo was a single game. The first time offered they had a snafu with the computer shutting down during the game so all info ended up being lost and the game needed to be restarted. We did not play again after that and I think many others avoided it also. The meals were definitely catering to European flavor and, I feel, lacked variety. The buffet line food was often barely warm. The main dining room was not much better and took forever to be served one course to another. Portions tended to be small. The ports were great and we booked this particular Eastern Caribbean cruise (11 days) because it went to ports we had not been to before (with the exception of Antigua) We definitely got what we paid for but we will not book with MSC again.
