After 10+ cruises we wanted to try MSC for the 1st time. The ship was configured differently than others we sailed on. Walking space was generally narrow, but there were nice cozy areas to sit. Cabins are like European hotel rooms - TINY ! Furthermore drawer and closet space was insufficient for our 2 average suitcases. Dining was mediocre, on every front. Uninspired bland lukewarm dishes and little variety on a 10 day cruise. We walked away from the dining and went to the buffet 5 - 6 nights to enjoy better variety, especially for salads and appetizers. Staff was courteous but appeared to be poorly trained at dinner. Buffet area staff was also courteous but would pull our plates before we even finished. The shows were repetitive - musicals and there was no variety nor comedy. Little side cafes and bars did have good music duos at times. This sounds petty but we participated in contests and we got NOTHING for winning (twice at trivia) despite the organizer promising a nice little gift. She gave us a story that the prizes were somewhere else on the ship... We don't watch TV but the 13 inch 13 year old one was miserable. The interactive connection never worked so we could not check our account nor could we book an excursion. Also, public washrooms are as elusive as the one eyed yellow striped toad. The buffet floor had a SINGLE washroom which had a line-up worthy of a night at the Roxbury. In conclusion, we understand why MSC is priced lower than RCI, Princess and Celebrity. MSC is OK if you want a cheap affordable cruise and want something different than Carnival. Read Less

Overall, we have had a good cruise. Many minor things were not quite there to make it a great cruise. Food: Restaurant - “Black Crab” food quality got better as the cruise went along, though it was somewhat inconsistent. Our waiter was exceptionally polite and attentive. Buffet – Food was ok, good selection, the pizza was very good. In the “rush hour”, drink service at the buffet was slow. Coffee stations are too few for the size of the buffet. Dinner and lunch buffet selections are very similar. Sports Bar – Food was ok, chicken wings are great. If you are sitting at the bar, make sure you do not sit on the rightmost chair as it is next to the bar station (the waiter keeps bumping into you). Bar service is a bit slow. Bars around the pool are the busiest and the slowest. Bar service can be from ok to rude. Bars in the core of the ship do offer much better service and are typically fast and exceptionally courteous. Bars receipts are terribly inconsistent, some bars ask to sign a receipt, some bars just give you a receipt, and some do not give you a receipt at all. Facilities: Pantheon Theater – a large theater facility great overall, comparable to most other cruise ships of the same size. It would be nice to be able to watch movies Pools – the layout is similar to any typical cruise ship, one covered pool, two open-air pools. The size of the pools is overall adequate though they were busy on days at sea. Pool decks are a good size also, though on days at sea it is hard to find an unoccupied chair after 10 am (towels are not being removed from unoccupied chairs). Atrium of the vessel is gorgeous and is exceptionally appointed. Public washrooms on the ship are scarce and men’s washrooms have no urinals creating lines ups. Entertainment was mostly a combination of musical and acrobatics act. There was no comedy show as such (it would be difficult considering the linguistic composition of the passengers). It was good, but it was not outstanding. Opera at sea (a compressed to 50 min version of Verdi’s La Traviata) was different certainly. Twice a day room service is nice, room stewards are polite and attentive, the room is vacuumed but there always seem to be some sand around (I presume vacuum cleaner without an agitator brush head have a hard time picking up the sand from the carpet). LGBT events seemed to be an afterthought, though MSC did host multiple events, unlike some other cruise lines we have taken. Embarkation was delayed by few hours (apparently due to a drug bust), which was somewhat unpleasant, and the terminal crowd was quite large (we took a trolley to Miami downtown and walked there for 2 hours). Disembarkation was typical lineup and wait for the line to move, took us roughly 30 min to get off the vessel, plus another 15-20 min to get our luggage. I hope with the construction of the MSC terminal in the port of Miami next year, things will run a bit more smoothly. We will be cruising with MSC again, though it takes a bit of time to warm up to MSC. Multicultural/Multilingual experience was overall great. Read Less

The cruise started on a bad note because too many of the staff seemed tired and annoyed at serving the incoming guests. As a first impression this is not great. Then there are countless hidden costs, even when you purchase packages that are merchandised as all inclusive. Even the gym had many additional costs which was a shame. The spa was nice but they did some hard selling even somewhat pushing services that aren’t needed. Also some costs are sneakily added, like water in the cabin even when you have a drinks package. The food is average and doesn’t reflect the tasty videos on display in their promo pieces. The deck is also very cluttered where finding a place to enjoy the sun can be challenging. As the cruise went on things improved (the final show was really impressive) but it was a shame that what was marketed and what was experienced did not match. Read Less

Had a wonderful time on my first MSC, the Seaside so booked the Divina. Was very disappointed in several things on the ship.... yet I did meet many very nice staff..... but.... never received any of the scheduled/promised events, including the Cruse Critic meet and greet... the "Black Card" party nor the "Voyager". There were NO upgraded amenities... not even a "bar" of soap. My cabin steward was excellent and did as good as possible. Also the Next Cruise person was very informative and helpful. Also met the Captain and Staff Captain, quite by accident and they were very professional and nice. The ship was very well appointed and clean. Just the overall delivery of what was documented as part of the cruise just didn't happen. Unfortunately I booked another cruise... and I am contemplating just letting the deposit go. Loved the Garden Adult bar on deck 15.... spacious, great service and good "hours". Read Less

This was our first cruise and we went on the ten day itinerary. Boarding was great, as was the inside cabin, as were the staff. The food started off being of a far higher quality than expected. Then the wheels fell off... I really can tell the difference between the listed chicken soup and the vegetable stock that was provided, the listed pheasant and the chicken that was served, the "asparagus soup" which only contained bits of potato etc. We could sort of live with this, but the kitchens then ramped up their incompetence. A baked potato had soot on the outside, but the inside was grey and uncooked. Fish and chips were several balls of uncooked, reconstituted fish. At best they had been flash fried in batter and then left. Two other nearby tables returned their's or simply walked out. We were offered a bowl of pasta as a replacement so I assume that all the fish was uncooked and cold. The "Baked Alaska" was Neapolitan Ice Cream with raw egg white on top. As an Italian ship, I think that it is reasonable to expect fresh ingredients with pasta (such as cream and herbs) rather than some sauces that tasted just like the ones that I get out of a jar. Then our cabin door would not open. The green light would go on but the handle wouldn't move. After replacing our cards at Customer Services (which didn't work) , and contacting them again, eventually someone came up and let us in. We were told that a carpenter would be needed and asked what time would be convenient. We said 5.00. By 6.30 no carpenter had appeared so we rang customer services who said that the carpenter would only be their when we were out of cabin. We agreed 8.30. When we got back from dinner the door was still jammed. Apparently it now needed to be oiled. It never really worked for the rest of the cruise and we frequently had to get staff to let us in. There weren't many children on board, but they made up for that by screaming in the restaurant , running about in the buffet as well as barging into every lift possible irrespective of the people getting out, or those in front trying to get on. The "entertainment" wasn't really my cup of tea and it would have been nice to have had a few interesting speakers, even if it was just about the islands that we were stopping at. Shopping "tips" appeared to be limited to a single chain of jewellers. I know that it was ultimately good value for money but there were a lot of disappointments. Read Less

We are just off the Divina. We chose this cruise because of the price and great itinerary. food: good to not good. The buffet is overcrowded and finding a place to sit us not easy for breakfast/lunch. Although food is plentiful, we found both breakfast and lunch very repetitive. MDR for dinner was hit and miss. My husband is gluten/dairy intolerant. While they tried to accommodate him, they actually forgot his meal one night and we had to go back to the buffet. They offered him terrible desserts ie. jello on “elegant” night. I think the chef could have done so much more. No creativity at all. This portion of our cruise was very sub par. entertainment: the singers and dancers are all very good but not 9 nights in a row. It would be nice to have a bit of variety. Magicians, comedians etc. Room: our room was clean, large and we were lucky to get a huge balcony. Overall: impossible to get a pool lounger after 8:30 am. They are reserved as early as 6:00am. People often threw a towel on the chairs and left for hours and hours. They need to introduce a no chair hogging policy. Not sure we would return on MSC. Leaves to be seen. Read Less

I am currently on the MSC Divina as we head back to port in Miami. Would I cruise with MSC again? Probably not. While the price was right and the ship is beautiful there is plenty of room for improvement. I'm going to give each a category a rating from 1-10 with some comment. This is my 4 cruise but my first one with MSC. Ship: 10 Embarkation: 7 (Long lines) Balcony Cabin: 7 (Nicely appointed but small) Food: 5 (Inconsistent and quite salty at times) Wait Staff: 8 (Most waiters were very pleasant. They appear to be understaffed.) Cabin Steward: 10 (Excellent) Lounge Entertainment: 8 (The classical violinist has to go.) Shows: 7 (Same type of show every night. They lasted 25-35 minutes for the most part.) Internet Access: 9 (Once you got connected it was slow but fine.) All in all I give my cruise an 8. Why wouldn't I sail again with MSC. For me it's all about the food and entertainment. I've cruised with Celebrity and had a much better experience. More expensive, yes, but gave Celebrity a 10 across the board. Read Less

We were drawn to book this cruise due to cruise ports that were new to us and that it included drinks! Previous cruises have been with Royal Carribean, Celebrity and NCL. It was great value! We thought the cruise cabins were good. Bathrooms clean. Helpful room attendant. New towels daily. Dinner in the main dining room was ok. Food was not great but there was always something you could eat. It was comparable to NCL. Steak was served with large chunks of fat still attached, shrimp pasta had 2 small shrimp and shrimp cocktail were 4 tiny shrimp that looked like it was freezer burnt. Buffet was good. Excellent variety of food for all cultures. Pizza was amazing! The staff was quick to clear dishes. Gelato and coffee were amazing! Bar service- in all bars including the pool were poor and not the fault of the bar tenders. MSC did not staff the bars according to demand. The staff tried their best to serve everyone in a timely fashion but unfortunately they did not have enough man power! They had some really good drink options outside of the standard menu. Pool chair hogs- happens everywhere but nothing was really done to prevent it but it could be related to the understaffing problems. Night shows- entertaining but very different from other cruise ships. Had a little bit of everything in every show. They have to accommodate their shows for many different languages. Read Less

We’ve been on Divina in back to back years. The good: Embarkation Room Stewards Room size and layout Shower doors are great. Eataly was fantastic food and service Itinerary is good Price The okay: Main Dining food was okay Buffet food was okay Disembarkation was ok The Bad: (Caveat, we come from an entertainment background) Shows were poorly choreographed Opera singers were fantastic but may not be aimed at demographic on board Show singers struggled with English lyrics Dancers were not in sync and did not seem to commit to choreography. Lighting was off, spots not tight and the stairs overused Sound was not EQ’d properly for the beautiful theatre. Thin sound, no low end. Bar and bar staff Staff seemed poorly utilized, took 1hr to get a gelato and drink at pool bar on quieter time. On our second cruise found the bartenders irritable (likely due to one at the bar and two in the back goofing off.) Both cruises started running out of mini bar drinks and snacks by 7th day. We want to like MSC but have not been attracted by much more than the price. Read Less

Got a sweet deal of price on this cruise. No single supplement. 10 day itinerary. Plus a limited open bar. So I snapped it up even though I had not sailed MSC before. Cabin was fine. Food on lido and in dining room was very good. Service at dinner was terribly slow. 6 pm sitting. Apps arrived at 7, entree at 730. Nice waiters. I think that problem was something else. Embarkation horrible. There was a delay since the prior cruise had stopped in Colombia, so customs was slow to clear the ship. But there was not enough seating while we waited, they did not have all the check-in stations open even though there was a long line. But I made it onboard, and that part was over. Limited onboard activities offered. No blue towels at poolside. You were to bring up the orange beach towel from your cabin. No policy nor policing against chair hogs. People would clip their towels on chiars with clothes pins at 6 am. And hold the chair for the entire day. Evening schedule is terrible. If you are late seating, you can see the show, eat dinner, and take in musical venues. If you are early sitting, you miss cocktail hour music, have a dead time after dinner, and then show is late, 9 pm. If did not make a single show. Also, the very large theatre has only theatre seat, with fixed arms, and fold down seat. So you have to squish yourself into that space. No bench or couch time seating. The open bar was enjoyable. Had wine with dinner and a cocktail or two in the day. So only a few drinks but it helps make the experience pleasant. Would I sail again if the price is right? Yes. Am I looking for another MSC cruise? No. Read Less
