MOLD in the cabin bathroom, poor quality and improperly prepared food in the Dining Room and Buffet, filthy floors and tables in dining areas, Dining Room servers unable to set a table properly and generally unresponsive to guest requests, a "Drinks On Us" package that did not include some of the most basic drinks and mixes and required guests to pay a 15% gratuity on each drink over and above the gratuity paid for each day - a gratuity that several bartenders told us they never saw. Something that tasted like Tang being used as Orange Juice in Screwdrivers, running out of Club Soda before the final two days at sea and then trying to substitute bottled water, not having enough servers so they could offer and get mixed drinks in the Dining Room, not to mention their inability to even keep water glasses refilled. A Balcony Cabin where if you sat in a chair on the balcony you could not see the water since it has a metal wall instead of glass - CLEARLY should be advertised as Obstructed View. Common area Restrooms that are few and far between compared to other ships we have been in, and which are not cleaned often enough. Read Less

Second time on beautiful Divina after our excellent 2015 Mediterranean cruise. We had 2 Bella balcony cabins on deck 8 forward. Very pleased with the comfort of the room and hard working, polite cabin attendant. Overall staff we encountered was very helpful, kind and friendly with the exception of the front desk - people there definitely need more training in customer service. We had a beautiful table for 5 at the Villa Rossa restaurant, early seating. Really glad that we chose this option as dinner lasted about 1,5-2 hrs. Highest praise goes to our excellent table waiters - we parted as friends:) Our biggest disappointment was the quality of the food in the main dining room, what a change for the worse in 3 years! The menu choices were adequate and sounded delicious but execution was poor. MSC was famous for their excellent pasta made fresh on board. In 2015 we would order one pasta dish between the four of us every dinner just to savour the fantastic flavour. What happened???? Not a shred of fresh basil, olive oil or cream in sight, everything was drenched in some lumpy flour and chicken stock concoction, they used same horrific sauce for a variety of fish dishes as well:( Best meals in 10 days - jerk chicken was beautifully cooked, same goes to duck breast. Everything else was just OK, curious as of whose idea was to plate wilted yellow arugula with duck terrine appetizer on our last evening? Don't chefs taste what they are cooking or check out the quality of the greens before being sent out to the tables? We enjoyed entertainment offerings in bars and lounges from classical pianist, sax player, several different bands - lots of people were dancing and having a great time. Our favourite theatre show was La Traviata. All the ports visited were interesting, we did our own thing, used public transportation wherever we could, loved Guadelupe! Overall good value, especially with drinks on us included. Read Less

Got a sweet deal of price on this cruise. No single supplement. 10 day itinerary. Plus a limited open bar. So I snapped it up even though I had not sailed MSC before. Cabin was fine. Food on lido and in dining room was very good. Service at dinner was terribly slow. 6 pm sitting. Apps arrived at 7, entree at 730. Nice waiters. I think that problem was something else. Embarkation horrible. There was a delay since the prior cruise had stopped in Colombia, so customs was slow to clear the ship. But there was not enough seating while we waited, they did not have all the check-in stations open even though there was a long line. But I made it onboard, and that part was over. Limited onboard activities offered. No blue towels at poolside. You were to bring up the orange beach towel from your cabin. No policy nor policing against chair hogs. People would clip their towels on chiars with clothes pins at 6 am. And hold the chair for the entire day. Evening schedule is terrible. If you are late seating, you can see the show, eat dinner, and take in musical venues. If you are early sitting, you miss cocktail hour music, have a dead time after dinner, and then show is late, 9 pm. If did not make a single show. Also, the very large theatre has only theatre seat, with fixed arms, and fold down seat. So you have to squish yourself into that space. No bench or couch time seating. The open bar was enjoyable. Had wine with dinner and a cocktail or two in the day. So only a few drinks but it helps make the experience pleasant. Would I sail again if the price is right? Yes. Am I looking for another MSC cruise? No. Read Less

We sailed a 10 day cruise on the MSC Divina on the 10th January 2019 from Miami, porting at St. John's, Antigua, Basseterre, St Kitts, Road Town, Virgin Islands, Pointe-a-Pitre, Guadeloupe and Philipsburg, St. Maarten. Embarkation at the port of Miami was fairly straight forward, we arrived around 11am and checked in although there was a wait in the terminal building until 1pm. We had a balcony cabin on deck 12, the cabin was comfortable and had everything you would expect i.e. TV, Hair Dryer etc Dinning We struggled with the dinning on MSC, i have sailed with MSC several times previously but always find the dinning a challenge after sailing with the flexible freestyle dinning on NCL. Dinning is fixed to two sittings and is a shared table. We chose the later sitting. MSC normally do a reasonable job at matching up similar guests of the same nationality so its important you check that your nationality is correct on your cruise documents. The service in the restaurant was good. The food in the main restaurant (Black Crab) was ok but i cant say that any of the meals were particularly memorable. The speciality dinning options are also limited, we ate in the Galaxy Disco Restaurant one evening as it was included with out Black Card Status, it is a Sushi/Asian restaurant and the $30 taster menu was included free however, if i had to have paid for the restaurant i would have been very disappointed. The service was good but the food was limited and we were still hungry when we left. The only other speciality restaurant is the Italian and to be honest i wouldn't pay for pizza when the pizza in the buffet is free and is excellent. As you would expect being an Italian cruise line; the ice cream, coffee and pizza are all good. Entertainment This time we didn't really experience much of the live entertainment, i heard i was good. I did venture into the Theatre one evening however i wasn't very impressed with what i saw, it looked a bit amateurish. There were plenty of deck parties and always something going on around the pool deck so i would suggest if you want a quite place to sit then you should avoid the main pool deck. We went to the nightclub a few times and there always seemed to be a few people in there until quite late. There were some gala nights whereby you could dress up if you wanted and there were theme nights such as a 70's party and the white party. Pool Areas Sea days as you would expect are very busy, it was annoying that people put towels on beds and then never use them. One day we took towels off the beds and were there all day and the people never came back. Its pretty selfish of people to reserve beds like this. Casino What i really liked about the ship was the roulette table, there was only a minimum bet of $1 required and it was $1 dollar chips which is different to NCL whereby its $2 chips and a minimum of 5 chips per round. I was able to sit at the roulette table for many hours and not spend too much money. Drinks The drinks package we had was a bit random, it included one draft bear and miller light cans and wines, it was a bit difficult trying to find out what was included and what wasn't. We actually discovered that you could order a non alcoholic frozen cocktail and ask for a spirit to make your own. There was a variety of wines but not the best to be honest. Also i don't think you need to buy any of the MSC experiences if you buy a separate drinks package as they don't really offer anything over and above. Ports All of the ports were excellent and we did this cruise because of the itinerary, we were a little disappointed with Guadeloupe and just visited the local town. At all the stops we were able to just get off the ship and find a taxi to a local beach, most days the taxi's were around $8 per person and at most of the beaches a sun chair was $10 and umbrella $15. If you do some research before you go then i don't think you would really need to do any of the ship tours. Overall, it was a nice cruise, a good itinerary, good service and a nice ship but nothing particularity memorable. I have cruised with several other cruise lines previously including MSC and Royal; Caribbean and if i had the choice of a cruise with a similar itinerary and price then i would choose NCL simply because of the flexible dining and the simplicity of the drinks package offered but i don't think you will be disappointed with MSC. We chose the MSC Divine for itinerary and price. We had a Fanstaisca class balcony cabin #12121 it had a good amount of space. The buffet we ate breakfast and lunch there, there where many selections and food for different ethnic groups. We ate dinner in the main dinning room we had excellent service. The food was average people who had prime beef said it was excellent, the choices where limited compared to other cruise lines. We had a table of 6 who we cruised with. If we were by ourselves it would have be hard to speak to the other people since about half of the people were from non USA Everyone was polite and respectful. We had the classic drink package and had no problems ordering drinks and frozen cocktails and had free gelato with the package along with speciality coffees The entertainment was very good we went to all the shows. The music around the ship and in the pool area was not that good not like other cruise lines. They did not have a stage band with brass instruments first time I have been on a cruise ship without that type of instrumentation. The violinist and piano were excellent but they had them playing sometimes in a nosily area. We took the ship excursion tour of Tortola is was very good, We took a shuttle in St Kitts to Reggae beach a very enjoyable day. We took the ship excursion in Guadeloupe to the Botanical Gardens it was a great place to visit and walk around, we them went to a restore for swimming very nice, it was a club med before changing owners. Overall it was a great cruise. Read Less

After over a decade of cruising, we decided to try MSC Divina. Very disorganized crew. Late embarkation and disembarktion with no explanation. Lines for linking credit card to sea pass on ship. Only one customer service desk open. Bar service slow, rude staff, unless of course you are willing to tip an additional few dollars above the 15% already charged per drink. Those customers were catered to. Poor food selection, slow service from wait staff. Horrible problem with pushing and shoving of guests on this cruise, mostly from Europeans which was the overall consensus from most US and even some UK guests. Eataly steak house has no atmosphere and is nothing more than a pizza parlor with plastic chairs. Dining staff difficult to deal with to change dining time. Required multiple requests and standing in lines. MSC crushed a hard side suitcase with no responsibility taken by staff. Will not sail MSC again. Read Less

This was out third time on the Divina and we had another wonderful cruise. We had an interior cabin on deck 12 which had adequate storage and space. Our room steward was excellent and we had service two times a day. The food at both the buffet and dining room was excellent, no complaints. I would suggest though that the desserts are not as tasty as they look. The various venues on the ship were well populated and the various music offerings were great. Dance classes were offered throughout the day which was really nice for us. We had the "drinks on us" package for the first time and have no complaints, would book that again if it was available, in the past we had the '12 coupon deal.' The Cruise Critic gathering is not to be missed, the Divina goes above and beyond for this event. Great cruise for us, would cruise on the Divina again. Read Less

We were drawn to book this cruise due to cruise ports that were new to us and that it included drinks! Previous cruises have been with Royal Carribean, Celebrity and NCL. It was great value! We thought the cruise cabins were good. Bathrooms clean. Helpful room attendant. New towels daily. Dinner in the main dining room was ok. Food was not great but there was always something you could eat. It was comparable to NCL. Steak was served with large chunks of fat still attached, shrimp pasta had 2 small shrimp and shrimp cocktail were 4 tiny shrimp that looked like it was freezer burnt. Buffet was good. Excellent variety of food for all cultures. Pizza was amazing! The staff was quick to clear dishes. Gelato and coffee were amazing! Bar service- in all bars including the pool were poor and not the fault of the bar tenders. MSC did not staff the bars according to demand. The staff tried their best to serve everyone in a timely fashion but unfortunately they did not have enough man power! They had some really good drink options outside of the standard menu. Pool chair hogs- happens everywhere but nothing was really done to prevent it but it could be related to the understaffing problems. Night shows- entertaining but very different from other cruise ships. Had a little bit of everything in every show. They have to accommodate their shows for many different languages. Read Less

This was our first cruise on the Divina or any MSC ship as a matter of fact. We choose it because for a 10 day cruise the value was right. Because of our extensve cruising we also qualified for the highest reward class the Voyagers Black Card which also offered extensive benefits. Getting started was great as boarding went smooth for us but we had priority boarding. Others we talked with said standard boarding was long and late. Our first impression of the ship was pretty awesome. This ship is elegant and very beautiful it was decorated very high end and the layout was very open and airy. We really liked the ship. Our cabin was very nice and clean but a bit less modern that the newer ships, no charging stations or USB ports. I noted that the cabin was nice sized. It was an inside cabin on the eighth deck and certainly bigger than Carnival, Norwegian and others we have sailed with. Our cabin steward turned out to be just fine but did not sizzle or awe us. Food was better than we had expected. We ate every evening meal in the dining room and enjoyed both the customary menu and the comfort menus. We tried them both and found the food was good to great. The buffet is where we ate breakfast and lunch and I thought it was better from a selection and quality perspective than most other ships we have been on. Still buffet food but at a good temperature and consistent quality. Pool areas and hot tub areas were also very accessible and plentiful, Not including the Yacht Club area there were 3 pools, a water park and 9 hot tubs on the ship. All were clean and had life guards for the pools. One entire pool and hot tub area was enclosed with a retractable roof, which helps make the ship somewhat weather-proof. Entertainment was so-so. I mean for us anyway, It took on more of a European style as there was no Comedian and the shows were opera like and centered around what I would call non traditional American cruise entertainment. I am not bashing it or anything but we just were not opera or opera singer show people. Bars were plentiful and the casino was nice and split with smoking and non-smoking areas which we enjoyed. Staff was very professional and seemed happier than the past few cruises we had been on. If you made eye contact with them they would go out of the way to say hi or greet you. The few negatives revolved around activities during the day and also there is no free time dining, to dine in the dining room it is 6:00 or 8:30. Also all announcements are made in 4 or 5 different languages. I understand the intend but it gets annoying, Also the muster drill requires you to retrieve your life jacket and then you go step by step putting it on. Again this was annoying but I feel an acceptable safety reminder. The really bad thing was debarkation. It was very unorganized and a total mess. Seems everyone chose self walk off and the staff made no announcements to organize it or control it. Halls were full and lines were not moving. It took us an hour and ten minutes of crawling towards the exit to get there. Over-all we were happy with the cruise and will cruise MSC again. We met a lot of European cruisers so we had a lot of back and forth to share. Elegant nights were really nice for a change because we had a chance to dress up and get pictures taken. I know some don't get excited over elegant nights (we usually don't) but it was fun for a change. Read Less
