We took this cruise because that is where our Zumba teachers booked us. It was only 4 days but we really needed at least 7 days. The bistro unfortunately was tasteless cafeteria food. The dining room was good food and good service. The 4 Zumba classes were fantastic. Moreton Island unfortunately had nothing of interest, except the beach, for those not taking any excursions. The excursions were no good for us that do not swim nor snorkel. The shows were of excellent quality, but too short (only half-an-hour each). Previous cruise shows were 2 hours each. The American coffee on board was absolutly disgusting. It was an Australian cruise and therefore should have had Australian style coffee. It took us 2 days to work out how to work out the shower controls. There were no instructyions in the room and no one told us that the taps turn the reverse American way, not the normal Australian way, therefore when we wanted hotter water, it turned cold instead. My partner and I had been discussing going on a cruise, so we decided on this 13 day one to the pacific islands. I know it might cost a bit more but I would recommend that people take a balcony room, it was fantastic, it was great to be able to sit outside and enjoy the fantastic view and also be able to sit and relax while enjoying a good book or a drink. we were over the moon with the service from all the staff on board, especially our room stewards who had a thankless task, but kept our room pristine and also were very courteous and well spoken as well. The only down side for us was the excursions needed to be more imformative and if anything truthful, we had a couple of days where we wouldn't have been better organising our own days. We would recommend that people do a bit more research on the places that they are visiting and maybe are able to save some money by booking with the local operators, instead of booking onboard. But besides all that we have put a deposit down for a 2nd cruise hopefully in 2020, which says how great the cruise was, high recommend the experience. Bill C612 Read Less

This was our 10th cruise with Princess. and other than the problems we had with our cabin, it was an enjoyable one. We were disappointed with Christmas dinner, even though it was enjoyable, Princess didn't cater for a traditional Australian Christmas meal, all of the staff were friendly and helpful, the food was fresh and very tasty wherever you dined. Drinks were a bit pricey, but your on holidays so enjoy. The shows were entertaining and cruise staff worked hard to entertain us. The ports that we visited were not what we were expecting, some were beautiful and others were dirty and hard to get around, we didn't go on any ship excursions, preferring to explore in our of time and pace. if we were to go there again we would definitely use the ships tours as they knew the best places to go, and believe me there weren't many. So all in all the cruising was enjoyably, a great way to spend Christmas and New Year. Read Less

We chose this as the port of embarkation and timing met our needs otherwise would go Oceania. THE GOOD: The entertainment was great for our age group. Lots of soul, R & B, and rock 60’s and 70’s. Shows, though, are not Broadway – like, elaborate productions as found on many other cruise lines, but were still quite good and entertaining. Ozzie’s really know how to party and the crew dancers work extra hard joining in. On this cruise the house band horns joined in on deck with the regular dance band and were present at other parties. Never saw this before on other cruises. Great fun. Exercise room adequate: machines, dumbbells, two weight benches. Dining service and stateroom service were fine. Fruit and vegetables were fresh and readily available, as was coffee, tea and ice water. Vegetarian offerings were good. Though I do eat meat, I stuck with mostly the vegetarian dishes as they were quite good. Enforced washing of hands with soap and water breakfast and lunch. Six taps available so never a line. Free tokens(for some) self-serve laundromat and ironing. Other wise about $9 a wash and dry. Boarding was quick and painless. Bags arrived promptly. The bed and pillows were the best that we had ever slept with in 40 years of cruising. Air conditioning in cabin and throughout the ship worked well and was comfortable. Much needed in the heat and humidity of Fiji. Tendering was efficient. Long lines coming back except later in the day. Stifling hot, no air in the tender the first time. Getting on and off the boat was efficient. THE BAD: Meals were edible. Lamb chops and stews were good. Otherwise nothing gourmet, many were not prepared correctly: Cesar Salad was not REAL Cesar Salad, Cioppino was not REAL Cioppino. Roast beef was edible but no flavour. Fish was O.K. as were some deserts. Bacon, sausages etc were cold, chewy unappetizing. Eggs were O.K. Fruit, cereals were available. Dinner buffet was uninspiring, no international offerings, a total disaster. Only a few decent French wines available, some at a decent price. For some reason the soups and sauces were a gelatinous, glutinous mess, thick and goupy. Of course the way to make them would be by a reduction. The cheese plate consisted of what appeared and tasted as a commercial “Kraft” variety. No Creme Caramel most nights (disastrous omission as that is my favorite!) No outdoor barbecue, no outdoor poolside band / dancing. Huge television in mid ship section where outdoor pool was. Extremely noisy movies etc so much so that we had to find the only quiet place mid aft mid deck. BRING NOISE CANCELING HEAD PHONES!!! Forward there is a quiet space but they charge $20 / half day. Islands were interesting but do not take the ship’s overpriced offerings. Go on the Island and check out what there is. Be adventurous! Drink package at over $80 a day outrageous as are wine and beer prices. Beware of prices on land also. $7 for 250 ml beer! Again outrageous rip off. Just be prepared to pay the price if you drink. No flutes of champagne were handed out on New Year’s Eve as on every other line we have been on! The ship “nickel and dime” you to death. Next they will probably charge you for poolside towels. THE UGLY: First sight of ship…...”I’m going on this rust bucket?”. Rust dripping from port holes, anchor chain, water line, balconies, balcony table. Hey USE SOME PAINT, WHITE PAINT!! Problem: Worn, threadbare carpets in trafficked areas. Simple Solution: Replace them!! Paid extra for a balcony. Cramped sardine can opening. Rusting throughout including tiny table. Crippling chairs, no room to swing a cat (about all that you would want to do there.) Eat al fresco? Lose your appetite quickly. Romantic dinner? No romance here, just brown stains. We were with Princess before so we knew what to expect but this is the only cruise that fit our port and time frame. Also Loyalty Islands were something new for us. For others with greater expectations, STAY FAR AWAY! This is not what luxury priced cruising should be, and it is luxury priced. No bargain here! No pretensions but still a lot of fun, not stuffy but required two “formal nights”. Many did dress in tuxedos but many did not. Australians and New Zealanders are exempt from tipping, everyone else has to tip (added automatically to your credit card). COMPLAIN and get this credited back, otherwise you are stuck with a $250 charge. This is a discriminatory and unfair practice. Either everyone tips or no one tips as a requirement. Maybe a class action suit will wake them up! Read Less

Sea Princess has only changed a little over the years and she still impresses. First time inside cabin was excellent for napping and sleeping, but I'd still prefer a source of daylight. Cabin was neat n tidy every time upon returning. Cabin Staff exceptional hardly ever seen but always available. Marquee Dinning was excellent, the service and food, Five Star. The lunch time Grill was a sensation, fantastic concept and an essential. Cafeteria, as usual neat clean always present with all foods for all times of the day, evening and night. Crab Shack and Steak House, are a must do. Curtis Stone's Share also an experience that should be done. Good Food, Good Wine, Good Family and New Friends. On n off the ship, not a problem, easy, quick and staff courteous and informative. On n off the ship via Tenders also trouble free and ran smoothly and effectively considering the numbers going ashore. Overall a great cruise. Staff from the ever informative Captain to the cabin attendant all helpful, courteous and able to answer all questions and all willing to provide suggestions and alternatives. First time away for myself and family over the Christmas / New Year period and found it totally enjoyable and a great experience, would love to do it again. Having cruised quite a few times with Princess, the last time being an identical cruise to this going to Fiji in April 2018, we were more than happy to recommend them to our friends who had never cruised before, who came with us. Imagine our disappointment and embarrasment to find nearly everything had changed noticeably for the worst over the previous 8 months. On a positive note, the carpet on the top deck had been renewed together with some new sun loungers. The staff remained as friendly & helpful as ever, albeit the restaurant staff seemed a little less professional and the captain managed to avoid the threatening cyclone by speeding up.Embarkation from White Bay in Sydney & disembarkation were both handled very well. On the other hand, on-board drink prices have escalated. A cheap bottle of wine in the restaurant was $29 - $32 and is now $46 - $52. A couple of dollars we can understand but not this price jump. A glass of wine now costs $15 - $16 and cocktails have increased from around $11 to $15. To add to this, lobster tails & surf & turf are no longer menu options but extras at $24.50; ice cream is no longer available in the Horizon buffet but on sale at the kiosk on deck & even the launderette has increased from $3 to $7.50. There is no longer a "Happy Hour". Whether this is to tempt us into buying the drinks package at $89 per person per day we don't know but one of the barmen confided that takings had fallen by half. If we were paying for improved service we would not mind so much, but the catering has taken a definite turn for the worse. The Horizon now features items such as meatloaf & boiled brisket as roast of the day and the other choices are well down on the previous cruise. Food quality in buffets is always variable but the quality in the Regency dining room has gone noticeably downhill. Food is usually overcooked, or maybe left to dry out while waiting to be served. My wife had an ongoing battle at breakfast to get eggs that were somewhere in between rock hard and running off the plate. On one evening, two of us ordered steaks cooked "medium", to be safe. One came done to death & the other had blood flooding the plate. After a while we stopped complaining as we felt sorry for the waiters whose fault it wasn't. There seemed to be fewer waiters in the Regency with regular waiters doubling as drinks waiters which probably accounted for service times often stretching right out. Again, maybe Princess want us to pay for the premium restaurants if we want good food. To rub salt into the wounds, the wc in our cabin would not flush. After a couple of requests, they managed to get it working but the following morning, with one of us desperate, it again would not work. In fairness they managed to get it working again but it limped through the rest of the cruise demanding several minutes of attempts if it had been left for any length of time. As the ship now looks very dated and has a liberal coating of rust and Fijian ports are not the most inspirational, our friends went home very disappointed. We have another cruise already booked this year with Princess, but if that is no better we shall not be booking another. Read Less

Sun princess was an enjoyable experience with mostly good weather for most of the cruise. Was very disappointed with our cabin layout as we had a bunk bed & were expecting three single beds at floor level . This was difficult for my husband who is 70 & opted to take the top bunk . This could possibly have been my fault as I booked the cruise on line , however I feel that I should have been made aware of the bed arrangements from someone at princess lines due to our ages . I would have gladly upgraded to larger cabin had I been made aware of this when I booked the cruise . We did timed dining at 5pm daily & were very fortunate to have two wonderful gentlemen who waited our table . They were Patricio Castillo - waiter & Ranilo Torrance - assist waiter 10 . They made our dining experience so very enjoyable , always called us by our names with lots of warm smiles , a dash of humour & at all times very professional & prompt with servicing our table , a big well done from us . The entertainment on board was varied & enjoyable . The excursions we did were enjoyed by all . Overall a very enjoyable cruise . Read Less

We read a lot of reviews after we booked this trip and there were many unflattering things said about the Sun. I wanted the opportunity to share both the good and needs improvements we experienced. The ship is small and dated, however the common area under went a recent refresh which erased some of her age. There was a constent odor in the halls and around deck 7, not sure if it was food waste or other but it was noticiable enough that it needs to be addressed. Due to her size space is at a premium which is why all of the specialty dining locations are carved out of common space. Of all 3 the Kai is so under utilized they really need to consider bringing back the pizzeria. If there were more than 5 people eating here it was crew, Princess needs to review the demographics of their passengers. Share was literally in the atrium on the 8th floor - not the place to go if you're looking for a quite romantic dinner. Sterling is literally a curtained off area in the Horizon Cafe - this was the only specialty restaurant we went to. The food was excellent the service hit or miss depending on your waiter but it was very cold up there. You definitely needed a jacket. We were in Club Class so that afforded us a separate sitting area in the MDR but we ate off of the same menu as the MDR. Overall the food was very good, the only disappointment was the seafood / fish -- frozen and lacking flavor but the Chief and his team tried to make up for it with flawless preparation (this issue with the seafood / fish is not unique to Princess, we experience the same in the Laminae restaurant on Celebrity). We did not eat in the Horizon cafe - we walked through a few times and it just did not look appetizing -- this is consistent with other reviewers. I think in this area Princess should execute the less is more strategy. Fewer options better quality. For the oenophiles out there the new wine list is great, they have really upped the game here. Great selection by the glass and bottle. What was really great was if you ordered a bottle they would hold it for you so that you could enjoy the next day. This allowed greater variety beyond the by the glass offerings. The entertain was great, there was a little something for everyone. The bar / spa / shops / photography team did not pester you to buy buy buy. If you said no they respected that and left you alone. This was a bright spot for us. The cabin was spacious, the furniture worn but the bed was beyond comfortable Overall we really enjoyed this cruise and would sail the Sun again in the future Read Less

We choose this cruise because of the demographics... didn't want a party boat and we didn't have one... the age group was on the whole was 50 plus. The wait staff were attentive and curtious ll times. The choice was limited but changed daily an some of the seafood was fantastic. The buffet had some good choices with plenty of different things to choose from for breakfast and lunch. Although I must saysome people go overboard with loading up their plates We really enjoyed the entertainment especially the Freddie Mercury show with Steve Larkin..what a legend. We chose this cruise because we have heard so many good things about NZ. Also this was our 2nd time on the Sun Princess. NZ was great and we were blessed with good weather. The buffet is your average food on Princess, not much has changed. It really needs to improve. There are so many easy interesting dishes that can be added to the buffet without costing a fortune, and for appeal. Every breakfast you see is the same things, eggs, bacon and cereal. I was a bit shocked to see fruit loops for breakfast - this stuff is full of sugar and so unhealthy. Hot chips for breakfast; really. The Chinese congee was inconsistent on a daily basis. The condiments were always empty. In the additional, there should have been some kind of protein available, such as cooked chicken or meat to add to the congee. I think a yum cha station could be of some benefits- made to order. Fine dining was either a hit or a miss. The lobster and prawns, beef wellington and lamb rack was outstanding. There should have been a cuisine theme night showing other international dishes. Some Asian and Indian dishes were not of standards. The German Oktoberfest was terrible, and we were in the month of December. Hygiene and customer service was outstanding. The cooking demonstrations was terrible and it’s the same dishes as usual. The kitchen gallery tour was terrible too, did not see cooks working, just work stations. Entertainment was okay, but not great. Freddy Mercury impersonation was good, however I wanted him to play more piano. Okay he lost his voice after so many nights singing and this can happen. The piano player, Liam ? was okay, but he has to stop hitting the keys, just play smoothly. I e seen better pianist on Princess. Overall, the Sun Orincess was Ok, on this cruise there was a lot of elderly people, getting tender took forever, but you learn to find patience. Read Less

I had previously travelled on this cruise in November 2015 with my wife, who has since recently passed away. Her last wishes were for me to complete this cruise as a memory of the previous one in 2015. I have experienced a wide variety fun by joining in with the activities and even being invited onstage by Russel Harrison a great singer as one of his backup dancers ! This was one of my favourite moments and the volunteering to join in with the Chef versus the Barman Challenge as the Chief Judge, another highlight. Overall the entertainment was First Class and the Entertainment Director Du Vaal is one of the best and always took time to talk and also his team were tops. Food was adequate and activities - one could choose what they wanted to do. Either join in with the program or totally relax - your individual choice. I was also lucky enough to meet a few wonderful people with whom I believe will be life long friends. Overall - A Great Cruise one I will never forget. Read Less

We did the same cruise 2 years ago, I love cruising around New Zealand, different port each day, so much to see with the mountains, green landscapes, geothermal valley's, lovely rivers and of course Fiordland a magical place to visit, we have cruised the Fjord's in Norway but they don't compare with the New Zealand Sounds (Fiords). The Sun Princess has been recently refurnished and looks good for a older ship.its bright with good open spaces and you can walk fully around the open deck. The Sun Princess service was excellent as usual and the dining experience was wonderful. I was impressed with the shows on this cruise we did not have an second rate comedians, in fact there were no comedians which was very good because most can't do a show without bad language today. Because we got on and off the ship in Auckland we did not have to queue on embarking and disembarking it took no more than 15 minutes each way. The only down side to the cruise was the weather at times. We had a Premier Ocean View cabin which was very good just that bit extra space makes a difference, the cabin was fresh looking and clean, the ships bathrooms are small but functional. There were about 2000 guests on board the ship which is good, smaller ship tend not to have the same services and entertainment and large ship have just to many people especially at a tender port. We left Sydney in glorious sunshine at an early 3.30pm. Boarding was easy and efficient. The overall condition of the ship was good, older but perfectly acceptable and no way near the condition some reviews indicated. We stopped at 6 ports and cruised around Fiordland for a day which was brilliant. It rained at all ports except 2 and rained pretty much the rest of the time- no fault of the ship/cruiseline. This did not really affect our enjoyment of the cruise. We have tried 3 other cruise lines and this unfortunately was the worst for food we have tried so far. The choice of food in the Horizon buffet was very limited and the lunch and breakfast options changed little each day - this became monotonous very quickly. There was a buffet line each side of the ship but they served the same food. The main dining room was better, but personally I found the dish selection again uninspiring with a lot of seafood dishes and not many meat options on the menu. I like seafood but my wife does not and I could see her point of view. Ships aircon seemed to make the ship warm then cool then warm again all the time. The shows were of a good standard, with a variety of acts. Entertainment during the day was good but not as good a Royal Caribbean. I thought the drinks prices for cocktails was high and the amount of alcohol in each drink was not generous- I tried a few. The staff were great and hard working. All the passengers we met had a great time and we arrived back in Sydney to glorious sunshine. Read Less

We have cruised many times with many cruise lines from the opulent to the mediocre we are very easy going and not hard to please but even we have out limits. Our cruise to NZ was a birthday milestone celebration and we saved hard to make it happen now we wish we had have saved a bit more and gone on another ship.- What a total disappointment. The food the first week on in the Horizon was fresh but three days before we were to disembark the quality went downhill rapidly. It tasted like leftovers revamped. As for the daily entertainment we had – 1.Paper plane competition -2.Teeth whitening -3. Bridge card game - 4. Hair straightening how to stop your hair frizzing – Yep- the excitement went on.- OMG- I was so bored I wanted to throw myself overboard. The toilets both public and cabin had non-stop problems passengers had an issue with either their toilet or their cabin including flooding. Then it was our turn to have a toilet disaster - Our toilet over flowed just before 8am having just woken up were like a deer in a headlight we were both not with it panicking trying desperately to stop the water overflowing but all to no avail, the water was cascading over the step like a waterfall . We quickly rang the pursers desk ran up and down the corridor in my Pyjamas looking for staff but the floor was deserted. Eventually some passengers come out to see me running around in my pjs, disgusted they kindly went to get help as well. Two phone calls later the steward finally shows up with a small cloth the size of a face flannel to mop up the water the the poor steward had a look of horror when he saw how bad the flooding actually was. We had to walk back into the room walk through the septic water to throw some clothes over Pyjamas go down stairs to the atrium where the front desk was. We must have looked a sight unwashed, bed hair and totally confused. I walked up to the Pursers desk told her our room was flooded and what will we do now? She just glared at me like I was totally inconveniencing her and said ` We are working on it`. Offended by her dismissive attitude I asked to speak to the her superior she said abruptly ` Go sit over there somewhere buy a coffee and wait the manager is busy.` We waited for hour and half before I walked back up to the desk and asked if we had been forgotten. The manager came out clearly on defense with her fake smile informed us she is aware of the problem I pointed out that we had out Pyjamas still on that we needed to shower and change. Reluctantly she went away came back with two Temporary cruise cards to go and shower in an EMPTY cabin BUT we can NOT sleep there we were to go back to our own cabins that evening. When we tried to explain how saturated our carpet was and why can’t we use the temporary room if its empty she said ` I don’t want to move you as its only two days till you disembark. They will make a decision later and someone will find us and let us know. 2.30 still walking around with our shower bag and pjs in a bag we went back to our old cabin to assess the situation the carpet was still totally saturated the musty smell was overpowering the carpet dryer was deafening and it was obvious that it was going to take a few days to dry it out properly. The water had seeped into the room next door as well. We went back to the purser’s desk ` Can we PLEASE change rooms? Sorry the manager is in a meeting I can’t make that decision you will have to come back at 5pm. I was ready to explode, I said ` R U Kidding? You have an empty cabin yet you want us to go back to a room that is clearly a Health Hazard do you understand it is Septic Water from the bloody toilet? It’s bad enough we had to walk through it in bare feet then breath in , Now you want us to sleep in in as well. ` Her reply` madam you will have to come back for the managers decision` - She did NOT care less and could make it more apparent. So the Temporary card they gave us were useless they kept being rejected due to NO number. So our id had to be confirmed before we could purchase a drink. Very embarrassing in front of other passengers to say the least. Finally after 9 hours of angst they finally decided to let us use the empty cabin. We had to go back to our old cabin and pack our suit cases and unpack them again in the new room. So its now 5pm . The room hadn’t been cleaned since we showered in the morning so cold soggy towels is all we had to dry ourselves. We were so exhausted we showered sat on the end of bed demoralized broke down and sobbed. - The manager had a bottle of wine sent to our room but it was a shallow token gesture too little too late. The way we were both treated is inexcusable; We can both honestly say that we have NEVER been treated with such contempt. The abrupt, dismissive and condescending attitude in which we were both treated made us feel like the Irish on the Titanic. Having cruised many times we are both members of the Loyalty points Captains Circle. One would ask ` Where is the loyalty and respect shown to the passengers? This has not been a relaxing trip we were both too scared to use our toilet so we would have to go to a public toilet to avoid any more embarrassment which is unforgivable. I have Multiple sclerosis and all the stress took its toll and I have relapsed; this was supposed to be a 60th birthday celebration what a disappointment. We cannot speak highly enough of the cabin stewards and the drink waiters who work hard long underpaid days they are worth their weight in gold. - This is more than I can say for the arrogant European front desk staff who have a severe superiority complex with a disgusting lack of people skills who abruptly talk down to the passengers with utter contempt as we were to find out first hand. Pro's: The boarding and dis-embarking procedures were very very efficient. The cabin was ready and well prepared even though we had arrived ahead of schedule with our priority boarding pass. We had pre-booked transfers and airline flights, which were taken care of without a hitch. The evening entertainment such as the production shows are still high quality but reduced in length. Con's We have cruised with Princess 25 times. over 14 years. Since about 2013 we thought it was so much better than anything else we had tried. However, since then we have noticed the continual decline in the food and onboard activities. Some of the individual entertainers such as stand up comedians may be rejects from RSL Bucks nights. On this cruise Sydney-Circa NZ-Sydney on Sun Princess, the Discovery at Sea program was non-existent and there was only one enrichment talk/lecture, over the whole time. The Destinations talks were hopeless. The speaker whose High School English was not her primary language, rattled off a prepared list of available activities without embellishments or feeling of any kind, with the rhythm and emphases all wrong. , Since about 4 to 5 years ago the food choices in the main dining room have become more and more restricted, to the point where most of the better choices have been removed from the menu and become chargeable extras. We assume this is so that more passengers are encouraged to patronize the extra specialty restaurants that have been added. For instance, on this Sun Princess, the included Pizza cafe has been removed and replaced with a Curtis Stone speciality restaurant with a cover charge of $56 per head. At Horizon Court Buffet there was a varied selection of dishes, however all meat dishes we tried were really tough, and even some of the fish was tough !! If this trend continues we feel that many people are going to become more disenchanted with Princess Cruises. Read Less

Sun Princess was recommended for my age and wanted relaxation. I’m a solo cruiser and had a fantastic time. Embarkment and disembarkment ran so smoothly best I have ever had, room was clean no noise factor at all, service from crew was very polite and courteous and you could actually have a laugh with them, dining was good share restaurant brilliant steakhouse brilliant horizon food was average never ate in the dining rooms as I couldn’t get a table for one so I missed out there, entertainment and activities were great only disappointment was we had a lot of bad weather (Mother Nature was not kind to us at all) and a lot of shore excursions were cancelled it would of been nice to have some extra activities added to break some of the extra time we had spending on board due to the bad weather. If you like relaxation and not a lot of children on board this is the cruise for you as it met all my expectations I must say I did come back home renewed. My highlight was the scenic cruising through Floridian national park. I actually got home and booked my next cruise on the same ship to Fiji in January and plan on booking again to New Zealand hopefully I’ll choose the right time of year to go though so I can get to see the sites I really wanted to visit Read Less

Whilst we had an enjoyable time on the cruise, we met some great people and in general the crew were fabulous and hard working. There are always one or two who have not taken their customer service training to heart. The beds and pillows were amazing as always but we felt the cabins were a big let down. The brochure images do not prepare you for the tiny, enclosed metal balcony with barely enough room to put two chairs and a tiny side table. It would have been interesting if we had decided to take advantage of the balcony dining option! There was a lot of rust in evidence and generally the ship is showing its age. It had been a couple of years since our last Princess cruise and as many have mentioned drink prices have gone through the roof - we do not drink a lot but an average of Au $14 per drink is a might ambition. The restaurant food was generally good - but on a 17 day cruise it started to be a little repetitive. The usually much anticipated lobster night was a major let down, with the concensus being it was as tough as old boots! There was plenty to do, activities wise on sea days and the shore days were great with the exception of Alotau PNG - whilst I appreciate this is to enable tax free prices (I would hate to think they could be any more expensive). The Shoes were great and the singers fantastic- a guest singer was just fabulous. Embarkation and disembarkation were a dream, with the exception of Brisbane- the first Australia port after PNG, so everyone had to go through customs, which took forever and therefore significantly reduced an already short shore day where most people wanted to shop. All in all an enjoyable time but with reservations about a repeat cruise on Sun Princess, which I understand will be cruising in the Southern Hemisphere for at least another couple of years. I won a cruise voucher in competition. I had never been on a cruise before. I chose a short cruise just to see how we would like it. We had a fantastic time! The cabin was very comfortable, I chose a balcony as I hadn't been on a cruise before and thought an inside one without windows might be a bit claustrophobic, but now I have been I would be happy to be in either type on any future cruises, there is so much to do on the ship and so many quiet places to sit and read or do other things that you hardly spend any time in the cabin anyway. There is also plenty of places to sit and watch the ocean, you don't need your own balcony. The entertainment was awesome, you were made to feel welcome and encouraged to join in with the dancing and activities and I mean encouraged in a good way, not pushy. There was so much to do on the ship, great live shows in the theatre, movies in the theatre or outside under the stars, parties, dancing, bars, casino, kids club, library, gym. You can make your holiday a quiet relaxed one or you can party every day, make it whatever you want. We had a wonderful time and will definitely go on another cruise with Princess. I travelled with my 12 year old daughter and she loved it, she met a lot of other kids on the cruise and made some friends, they then met up and did activities together, she said the kids club was great. It was Halloween and the kids club took the kids trick or treating. Read Less

Princess cruise have the best staff- keep everyone safe and ensure quality and good service. We had a great time and enjoyed talking with other cruisers and staff. It was a shorter cruise and no passport required which always brings a party demographic but still enjoyed the food and entertainment. Thank you to the Captain for keeping everyone safe in poor weather. Some were disappointed by the cancellation of some onboard entertainment and also the cancellation of Busselton port, but we were thankful for the Captains call and appreciated his decision to put the safety of those onboard above pleasing the masses. It was a short get- away in difficult weather with uncomfortably big waves. However, the smiles and pleasant nature of staff onboard made our little holiday fun!! May I also take this opportunity to publicly offer a Thank you to Suresh, Harold, Rudielo, Phoebe, Adrienne, Daisy, George , Alvivio and our Captain for all your efforts. Non Voyage until next time. Keep up the great work and fabulous standard. Wish we could have brought you all home to our place and made you dinner. Read Less

We have cruised with Princess 10 times and wanted a getaway with no flights. Which is very rare in Perth as the Cruise Lines are ignoring Perth especially for Fremantle return cruises and North instead of cold rough South cruises now almost never happen. Princess think Aussies love cruising now at any cost and are continually increasing cruise prices drink prices and decreasing service just to see how far they can go I think. Drinks in a year have almost doubled shots of Drambuie for instance last year $7.95 this year $13.75 for 45ml. Stopped all Happy Hours so the Wheelhouse bar is now like a morgue and used to be the party place. Most passengers in bed by 10pm now as to expensive now to party an enjoy. Closed the fantastic free pizzeria to put another rubbish over priced almost unused restaurant. No Kettle in the rooms is ridiculous they prefer us to call room service continually for boiling water and have staff walking the corridors with that thinking its safer. Surely two adults in a cabin can have a kettle even if we signed a waiver. Cabins are tired an outdated, bed was very good though. Guest entertainers were very good but the same old Princess shows every time we are with Princess gets boring. Need much better music by the pools with Aussie themes not Jamaican, and use the big screen for up to date music videos to get a great pool atmosphere not old movies blaring out while passengers trying to enjoy relaxing and the pool area. Almost no pool area drinks service you have to queue at the over used pool bar with everyone sitting in front of it so almost impossible to get served. Princess need to listen to their passengers especially in Perth an base a newer larger ship here and do more Fremantle return cruises and go North not South, bring back Happy Hours, Pizza and fun! Thought it would be a great little spring get away..Was not disappointed. It was a 4 day cruise to Albany and Busselton From Fremantle. Service was great. The ship looks pretty good after her small facelift..The Food was as usual very good and the New Curtis Stone restaurant, Share was excellent. Due to the inclement weather we were unable to stop at Busselton on the way back however the activities on board kept us entertained.. I have cruised many many times. The Sun Princess is not The QM2 and does not pretend to be ..nor is she the Oasis but she is a clean and comfortable..with wonderful staff.. My only request would be, better Coffee in the Horizon Buffet and not such long queues for a coffee at the Coffee shop. I do prefer a ship of the Sin Princess size. it is easy to get around. The Lounges and Atrium areas are lovely with lots of entertainment..There are also nice quiet areas such as The Library if you want some quiet time.Great Value. We wished to go on a Fremantle to Fremantle cruise and this was the first available for a booking. Happily we received an upgrade from the balcony cabin booked to a club Class Mini Suite We found the experience restful, comfortable and a joy to undertake. The two highlights were the friendly staff (particularly the Regency club class staff and our cabin steward Joseph) and the amazingly comfortable bed with cloud like pillows. Also worthy of mention are the spacious cabin (Club Class mini suite), some top class entertainment (notbly singer ..Joli), amazing food in the Regency dining room, some fun activities and great shopping opportunities. Less positive were that we could not go ashore in Busselton due to weather concerns keeping the ship overnight in Albany, and subsequent less than comfortable travelling in the morning. Still, we can see Busselton any time and got to experience more luxury on board. I would repeat that trip in a heartbeat. Read Less

The reason for this cruise was because it was the Sun Princess and this was our third time on this ship. The cruise was perfect for a four night getaway to just relax. The embarkation and disembarkation was so quick and professionally done. Our cabin was a mini suite and it was so lovely and clean and it was kept clean all throughout the day. There are so many options to choose from or just chill out like we did. The food is lovely and so much to choose from. There are so many good movies to watch in the room if you want or there are outside movies and concerts to watch on the outdoor screen. There is a theatre room with lots of fantastic entertainment. The Captain and all the crew are just so friendly and will always attend to your needs. We really do enjoy cruising on the Sun Princess and we will definitely cruise again on this ship. Read Less

We chose this cruise as it was convenient sailing out of and back to Fremantle , the sun princess is s but jaded but would be fine for new cruisers , the entertainment was first class and the food superb, attention to detail with service is shy we return to princess cruises time after time, the stateroom was ideal as my partner gets motion sickness and being on plaza deck near midship has less motion and greatly convenient to the piazza, coffee shop and all the shops , how the staff in the coffee shop can remember my type of coffee with 2000 passengers aboard is magic , we make the ship our destination not the ports it’s going to, weather was stunning and staff amazing in all aspects, if you want s cruise out of Fremantle I would book early . Would do this cruise again for the short 9 daybreak again . Read Less
