A relaxing cruise down the Mississippi

I just returned from a wonderful cruise onboard ACL's Queen of the Mississippi. We sailed from New Orleans to Memphis and were blessed with outstanding weather for 6 of the 7 days. I was travelling with my dad and was about 30 years younger than all of the passengers, but I still had a great time. This is a VERY relaxing cruise- there are no nightclubs or casinos and the evening show ends ...

We chose to drive to New Orleans and stay one pre-cruise night at the Omni. The next morning, we drove to the dock and parked in the cruise parking deck. You should know that parking is not free, nor is it cheep. This was the only down side of our cruise. The cabins on board were large and roomy with an excellent balcony view and a nice bathroom. Housekeeping did a fabulous job of keeping the ...

Our original booking on the French American boat was cancelled at last minute and we were able to switch to this boat. I think we were lucky as once we were with the American Cruise Company everything was handled very well and efficiently and the cruise was delightful. The cabin was great and the ports and shore excursions were interesting. The ship was very well maintained, the staff was ...

From the moment we boarded the Queen of the Mississippi in Memphis, we enjoyed the luxury of all aspects of the ship. The directors attention to details, the room, every meal experiences and the menu choices, all the members of the crew, the excursions in various ports, entertainers, the atmosphere in general all combined to make for wonderful experiences and find memories. We met some lovely ...

Unforgettable adventure!

I had always been intrigued with ACL because of the "small cruise sailing" reputation. I was very pleased with the size of the clientele and crew, (143 guests on this particular boat). This enabled one to actually get to know fellow passengers AND crew in the weeks time. We spent an extra day exploring Memphis before we embarked. Once on board, everything was set up for us and we needed to do ...

No matter what your interests are, you will find it on this cruise. For history lovers, there is Civil War galore. A visit to Vicksburg's National Military Park was fascinating. Nature lovers will love the swamp tour in Louisiana where alligators come close and birds are all around. Historic home buffs will love the plantations. You can even pick cotton at one, Frogmore. Or you can just rest on ...

The perfect way to see the Mississippi River

The cruise on the lower half of the Mississippi River was a thoroughly enjoyable week. I wanted to observe traffic on the river, as well as check out what development is or isn’t (or once was) on the banks of the river. All of that was just fascinating. Boarding the ship in Memphis was remarkably smooth, thanks to a very organized team who know their logistics. The side trips (Vicksburg ...

This was our first cruise with American Cruise Line, but it will not be our last. Everyone on the cruise was so friendly, guests and crew, that you felt like being on a family reunion for the week. The Queen of the Mississippi had a golf cart aboard that they brought ashore at each stop to help those passengers that needed assistance getting to and from the buses. We needed a shower chair and it ...

This was our first cruise with American. The trip met or exceeded our expectations on all aspects. The boat was only two years old; is maintained in excellent condition. The boat crew and hotel staff folks were all efficient, highly trained professionals. The food service was outstanding! Best of all, the small ship experience made for a warm, friendly environment. Seems by the end of the week we ...

I have sailed 3 cruises with American Cruise Lines and had the highest 5 Star service on all three cruises (Chesapeake Bay, Martha's Vineyard/Nantucket and the lower Mississippi). The crews are exceptionally well trained and showed great courtesy for all passengers. The food was so good it could have been found in the finest restaurant in a major city The menus highlighted regional specialties ...
