I am a solo traveller I chose the cruise as I was given the impression by the travel agent that it would be free from many children and families and I needed time to relax away from noise. This was not the case. Children were allowed to roam free, running on decks and were not well supervised by their parents. I realise that this is not the fault of the ship but it would be better if people were given some sort of notice of the makeup of passengers the cruise would consist of so they could make informed decisions on their choice of cruise. The staff were overworked on days at sea and could not keep up with providing the best services for all passengers through no fault of their own: for example plates and cutlery were not readily available in the cafe areas as the demand was great and they could not be collected and washed and replaced quick enough. The staff were always friendly and helpful. The cost of the internet provision was extremely high and didn't always give the excellent service it advertised. I feel that it shouldn't matter which cabin you are in, drinking water in cabins should be provided free of charge. On my last cruise in concierge class I had a jug of water replenished daily, on this cruise in a verandah stateroom, the glasses were available but no jug of water. Shore excursions were reasonable but many were just transfers to the town and time to shop, therefore the cost was not always value for money. The coaches provided on the shore excursions were excellent with welcoming tour guides. Probably my worst experience as a solo passenger on this cruise was that I was given a place to sit for evening dining on a table on my own. The last Celebrity cruise I went on, I was allocated a table with other solo passengers which meant I had others to enjoy the meal with. The theatre entertainment was very good with a variety of different performances. I had the overall impression that the cruise line was not interested in it's passengers even though I can not fault any indidual crew members, they were great. The daily activities on ship were not varied enough. Usually the same things were listed each day therefore the Today newsletter given out each night became quite boring to read. Using almost a whole page for listing things such as dining times and opening hours of the fitness centre ( which could easily be included in the information file provided in the cabin) could have been better used in giving more information on the various ports of call eg Landmarks, history and currency needed. The ships amenities catered for it's passengers with disabilities which was great. All in all the experience on the Celebrity Reflection was not as good as my experience a few years ago on another Celebrity ship. Perhaps it is just too big for people to be treated as individuals. First time on a cruise in the Med during school holiday and NEVER again. I have been with celebrity cruises about 8/10 times and this is the worse experience. I would never choose Refelection again. As soon as we arrived, we were addressed by our first name by the cabin attendant when he introduced himself to us and I found it uncomfortable as we didn't even know that person. The same again when you order anything and had to produce with your cabin card, the staff addressed you by your first name as printed on the card so everyone sitting round you know your name. We chose free dining as in the past we were put on different table every night and met some lovely people.this time it was awefull. It took the girl ages to locate a table moving her mouse up and down in front of the screen and not that they were full as we went pass so many empty tables before we were shown to the one at the very back facing the wall. We refused and were put to another table instead...... IMMEDIATELY. why could they do it the first place. Used to be a 5 course menu and now it is only 3. Service is definitely slipping there from my experience in the past. Don't get me wrong, these people worked very hard at the restaurant but I think celebrity has reduced the amount of staff at the restaurant. We were never put with other passengers the 11 days we were on the cruise ship and when I asked, I was told I have to be at the restaurant between 6.30/6.45. WHY???? They have loads of empty tables. On the last day, we were put on a table for 4 but removed 2 sets of cutlery as it was only the 2 of us????? There was tables for 2 all round us empty.....not happy with that. In October we sailed with celebrity equinox and it was top mark, the captain, the entertainment, the cruise director. But this reflection is nothing compared with equinox. Very disappointing. As there were so many children and infants on this cruise ship, our toilet and as many as well had trouble flashing getting the water through on 4 different days but it was sorted immediately. I was told because other passengers were putting nappies in the toilet to flush......the piece of wood in front of the sink fell off completely as I was getting a towel coming out from the shower and narrowly missed my feet. It was a heavy piece of wood. Sky lounge on reflection has reduced by half the size to accommodate more cabins so it you want to read a book or just chill out looking ahead of the sea, you can't as there are no loungers anymore, only tables and chairs. The 2 days at sea, we couldn't find any empty loungers round the pool whether it is on deck 12/14/15. So we have no choice but to sit on the chair rather than trying to have a nap. As we were a concierge passenger, we had a concierge service if we have any doubts with anything and Patro was brilliant, In the past we had little canapés sent to our room with our choice and a chosen time, this time, we have no choice for canapés and time and as it was mainly seafood, by the time we got to our room, they were warm...... no way we were going to touch the. To be fair we have enough food so if celebrity is looking for costs cutting, I don't think any passengers will miss this as there are food everywhere on the cruise ship... after the third day, I went to the concierge and asked him to stop this service as I can't stand wasting food, We don't think we will choose Reflection again as it was a big dissatisfaction. This was my first Cruise with Celebrity. I previously cruised with Regency, Regent, Disney and Norweigen. This was a graduation gift to my 17-1/2 yr old Granddaughter. I do not normally travel in the summer but because of my granddaughter's schedule this was the only week we could go. The cruise started & ended in Rome. We flew to Rome 3 days before the cruise date to tour (private/semi private) the City, Amalfi Coast & Pompeii. Embarking went smoothly but we did arrive early. Our rooms were ready by 1pm. Lovely room/bathroom. Unfortunately we travelled in intense heat every day, the heatwave Europe called "Lucifer", except for the next to last day when it was cloudy. Embarkation went very smoothly. The PROS: Excellent food & Service in the Dining Room. Wait staff also great & attentive. The Buffet was also good. Room attendant wonderful & beds/linens changed 2x a day. I had a free "Perk" of the Beverage Package which included liquor up to $9 per item. After that you paid the difference. No limit to how many drinks could you consume a day (mine were a max of 2 a day).CONS: Not enough to do on sea days especiallly for children/teens. My granddaughter did not join their teen club. Constant selling of jewelry & art work/auctions. Went to seminar on detox but of course they were selling product. One guest asked if we could a discount on product and/or services in spa and we were told we could. However, when I paid for product was now told there was no discount. Very small game room with 4 interactive tables & 2 regular tables. Game pieces missing. Shows were hit & miss. Comic had some inappropriate material which he should have used for his "late night-adult" showThere were 600 children, many of them tweens, running wild at night slamming balcony doors, etc. Shore excursions hit & miss, however the guides were knowledgeble. I booked early enough that I got 2 "perks" free: Gratuities & Beverage Package. However did not get the Internet package and was told it would cost me $10 to print out my boarding pass on day of departure. This should have been waived as I booked my flight with their suggested Choice Air compay.Absolutely no pay out in slots. I asked for slushy for my granddaughter at the pool bar & was told it would be extra charge because her package did not incude it - I thought that was ridiculous. We took a photo getting on the ship the first day. The next day when they were posted in the Photo area, I asked if I could purchase a smaller size for $15 & they said yes. However, when I went back to purchase it the day before we embarked, I was told only photos taken getting of the ship were $15. When I complained I was told I would have to take it up with the person I spoke to on the 2nd day of the Cruise which of course after 9 days I could not remember. I paid the $25 for one 8 x 10 & then went to Guest Relations to complain, who after waiting 30 minutes, did only charge me $15. My bill showed a charge for items in the refrigerator which we never touched & am waiting for Celebrity to get back to me. Suggest private tours to Florence & Nice where small cars/van can get closer to main attractions, otherwise buses forced to park 1/2 mile away. We booked a semi-private tour of Amalfi Coast & Pompeii & private tour of Colleseum/Ancient Rome/Catacombs. Pricey but was picked up at hotel. Well worth the money. I would travel again with Celebrity but bring plenty of books to amuse myself with during sea days & scrutinize every charge on the bill. Read Less

First time cruising with celebrity, after 3 previous cruises with royal Caribbean and po Expected to get a five star cruise and was disappointed, firstly we had problems with anytime dining, you weren't allowed to dine anytime. The first evening we were told our dining time was 9.30pm and couldn't be changed,we were told we couldn't book a table between 6.30-8.30pm as that was the busiest time.We did manage to book a table for 8.30pm every night but that was after a lot of complaining. Our table was changed nearly every night so we didn't get to know our waiters. The menu choice was very limited and not very exciting very repetitious .if you wanted a special meal you had to pay another 45dollars each to dine in the speciality restaurants. On sea days there weren't enough sun loungers for everyone and quite a few people just walked around for hours looking for one.The lawn club was a waste of space and you were charged extra to use the empty cabanas that were there. I don't drink but had a classic drink package ,thinking I'd be well catered for juices and non alcoholic cocktails. The menu has 30 alcohol cocktails on it but no non alcoholic cocktails and when asked for one the waiters just mixed soda. And a dash of fruit squash hardly a cocktail. One day I asked for a can of coke and was told I was not allowed a can it had to be poured into a glass and if the soda gun had been working I would have been given coke from it .the remains of the can of coke that didn't fill my glass were then left open and used for the next person asking for coke so sometimes you weren't even getting fresh coke but someone's leftovers. Was looking forward to trying international food but choice was awful no exciting puddings . Very very disappointed thinking I was going to get a very special cruise for my husbands and my 60th birthday.Royal Carribean and po were of a much higher standard and didn't make you feel like a second class citizen. we sat in the same seat in the theatre most nights and one night we were told we weren't allowed to sit there as it was roped of for suite class passengers. There was too much class distinction and not enough facilities for the rest of the passengers. The entertainment was performed in the middle of a busy thoroughfare and there was not enough seats to sit and watch it with people trying to get past the whole time Don't think I'd ever do another cruise with celebrity. One of the few ships that provided the ports-of-call we were seeking. It allowed our family to vacation together with a minimum of stress and we generally were satisfied with our choice. We were gone from the ship for most of the days we were in port, so on board activities were limited to the evenings, but not much of the offerings tempted us to go often or stay late. A point of disappointment to all of us was the lack of live music available for entertainment. It's probably my age or what passes for dance music today, they did have disc-jockey music all over the place. Is it because it's a less expensive approach, or is that what people want! I hope it's not going to be the new normal. As a whole, the servers were attentive and courteous and seemed to like their jobs. Dining with the eight of us never seemed to be a problem for the hostess, who was generally able to find a table for us, by the window or out of way of the dinner traffic moving in and out of the MDR. As for the food --- there was no problem changing something that was unacceptable, so that much can be said for it. Although not fans of buffets, several times we opted for the buffet at the Oceanview Café. It seemed that the food was a bit fresher, or maybe it was because the choices were easier to chose from. The burgers and dogs at the Mast Grill weren't too bad for a quick snack. As for the extraordinarily expensive "alternative restaurants", we'd had our miserable experiences with them in the past and consider the extra cost nothing but an extravagance for mediocre food or giving us some talking points about what we did aboard. We chose instead to have many excellent lunches and snacks in the many restaurants we visited, whether in Malta, Sicily, Greece and mainland Italy. Celebrity does a much better job than most others in their price bracket, so we'll probably sail with them again. Read Less

We have now cruised with Celebrity several times and should add we have not experienced any other cruise companies. When we started cruising with Celebrity in 2008 it was a luxury experience but since then year on year standards have definitely dropped. We chose this cruise for the itinerary and most ports of call didn't disappoint however the onboard experience was decidedly mediocre. I have listed a few examples of what made for a very average cruise. Dinning - having asked for a large table in the MDR, we were surprised to be allocated a table for two. Having complained, the following night we were shown to a table for 4 but sat alone for the duration of the cruise! I said this last year and repeat Celebrity have a real problem with the MDR set up, it is half empty most of the time. The food was hit and miss and this is one area where we have seen a definite decline over the years - it smacks very much of penny pinching. Our servers were good, but why are Celebrity still calling the drinks servers Sommeliers? We never had any wine recommendations and at times didn't even manage to get a drink until part way through our meal. We also do not understand why some wines were available in certain bars but not in the MDR. We eventually opted to bring a drink into the MDR with us. The Oceanview Cafe we felt was also giving poorer choices than previously and getting a drink with lunch was often impossible. We did not use any of the speciality restaurants as the extra cost is ridiculous. Bars and Lounges - Our favourite has always been the Martini Bar but whilst the drinks were good, there was no atmosphere and the staff were sombre, with none of the usual juggling normally associated with this bar. We found this to be the case throughout the ship, staff were generally subdued. The only exception to this was a superb bar tender in the Ensemble Lounge (Raveena). Entertainment - hit or miss. The fact that there is no longer a late performance meant that we missed some of the acts in the Theatre. The best entertainment we found was in the Ensemble Lounge (Rick and Zoe). Overall we did enjoy our holiday but this experience has confirmed what we have suspected for a couple of years, Celebrity are not the premium brand they claim to be and we will now be looking elsewhere in future. Our overall feeling about this ship was "meh." We are comparing it to 7 other cruises on 3 other cruise lines. We rated this ship as poor to average in service, food, and extra costs. In particular, our cabin service was poor - we have been accustomed to being delighted when we return to our room. This time, I never felt like the room was even clean other than getting new towels and having our bed made. However, the people we were traveling with had a different steward and they had a much better experience in this regard. In most dining rooms and bars, the service was mediocre. The exception to that was the service at Murano (superb!) and Qsine. Often it seemed like the only service we could expect to get were for those things that cost extra. The food was very inconsistent. We especially liked the food at Murano, Tuscan Grill and Qsine. We did not like The Lawn Club - the meats were dry and the flavors were so-so. Dinner in the Opus dining room varied from just okay to very good - but you never knew what you were going to get. The selection at the Ocean View Cafe was nice but quality also varied. The pastries were often dry, but the scones at tea time were great. We very much enjoyed the public spaces in the Reflection. There are many places to hang out and relax. We always were able to get a chair by the pool or in the solarium. There are many bars to choose from but a few were much too dark for our tastes - we would like to see the ocean and the menu. We attended most of the entertainment and enjoyed them. In particular, the gymnasts are spectacular and the music is good. We were put off by the extra costs for so many things - bottled water, "premium" drinks like nicer tea and fresh-squeezed orange juice. We didn't realize that there is not a self-serve laundry on this ship so we brought enough clothes for half of the cruise. That meant we had to pay to have our clothes laundered. Washing my socks was so much money that it was cheaper for me to buy new ones. We loved the ports of call on this trip. We did not use any ship excursions but did our own thing. There was often a shuttle bus into town, but you have to pay for it and it was usually cheaper for our party of four to get a taxi. Having two days in Barcelona made it possible to do and see so much more than a rushed visit. We climbed to the top of the Rock of Gibraltar - I only recommend this for the fit! The cable car is a good alternative. We really enjoyed the smaller stops at Malaga and Cartagena. We enjoyed our vacation, but we won't be cruising with Celebrity again. Read Less

I am a fan of Celebrity cruises. I enjoyed Celebrity Equinox two years ago and was super excited to go on Celebrity Reflection. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. There are at least 5 specialty restaurants and those staff handling sales of these restaurants are too eager. Incentives must be good! Staff are very keen to sell spa deals and beverage packages. It's just all a bit too much in the face. In comparison, the other staff especially those in Oceanview cafe are not friendly and very few are helpful. The crew on this ship seem different. Delighting guests onboard seem like a low priority. No peanut butter in the restaurant for breakfast so I had to ask for it each time I go there for breakfast and it always takes a while as the staff are busy toasting bread!! The caps on the poor quality bottles of water are a challenge to open. The food quality in the Opus dining room is probably the only saving grace. Shore excursions and airport transfers, hardly surprising, are super expensive. Check in was smooth as we had all our documents printed. Will probably try Celebrity one more time. Read Less

We had previously cruised with Norwegian and Princess and was looking for a step up in terms of service and food etc, I can safely say after 10 nights on board, the search is still ongoing. Embarkation- This was a breeze we arrived at the port of Rome around 11am and we was on board by 11.30am and eating our first meal in the Oceanview Buffet, they do tend to like you to go up to this area as the Cabins are not ready until 12.30pm , we had a quick bite to eat, food was good standard. in my opinion the buffet on Princess cruises was better in terms of taste of quality of ingredients. We had the Premium drinks package this was exceptionally good value. we didn't find one drink we could not have in the whole time onboard. Service- We felt that whilst attentive it was to the position where it felt a bit over the top, an example of this is when you are walking back to your stateroom and you happen to see your stateroom, attendant, they have to drop whatever they are doing and ensure they open the door for you, one occasion this happened 3 times in 30 minutes and it felt a little awkward, they also position staff in the bathrooms on board who have to make awkward small talk with guests, this seems quite again over the top. We also experienced a great variation in service between the waiters in the MDR, we was on select dining so each night had a different team serving us- only 2 nights we felt the service was acceptable Entertainment- During sea days if you didn't like to gamble or shop there was not much going on around the ship- Maarten (the CD) done his best but it was very quiet, except the day they had a 75% sale and the main walkway was a crush. This is not a ship for you if you like to be active during sea days as it was very quiet and quite dull. Evening shows were better, we saw the incredible We3 and a Motown and Soul act on 2 separate nights so we have to say this was one area where they did well. Dining- we signed up on board for the Speciality dining 4 night package as this felt like a good deal, we chose 2 nights in Tuscan Grille and 2 nights in QSINE. both of these were great and the food was easily worth the money, as stated above the MDR is hit and miss, menu is good with good choice. Some of the food wasn't great and you could tell they found it hard to cook steak, of 3 nights I ordered it, only once it was cooked to my liking. My partner is 27 and I am 30 so we are not the target age group for Celebrity and it truly did show, we found some of the passengers to be incredibly rude and pompous, Celebrity is not a cruise line for under 40's or people with families we only saw 4 children onboard- this is not a market they really tend to want on board. Would I cruise with them again, no not really and this is probably an agreement that works well for both sides. Read Less

We chose this cruise as the dates suited our family. Booked 2 balcony cabins. We were able to have the partition on the balcony clipped back so the rooms were joined via the balcony. Rooms are spacious and plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space and room for your suitcase under the bed. This is our 3rd cruise on a Celebrity (Have been on Siloutte and Equinox). Unfortunately the entertainment was not just as good as have been in previous years. There is a good gym which gets really busy late afternoon. However the gym was less busy towards the end of the cruise. I attended a health seminar which I really enjoyed and had to pay for a health review, fair enough, got some good information and a good chat with the instructor. She then started giving me information about an algae/seaweed package of teas, bath salts etc which would help me to detox......I ended up paying over $300.00 for a course of detox tea and bath products. (silly me) however it took a bit of bargaining as she tried to get me to buy 5 months worth of the stuff. It arrived today and I googled the products - I could have bought this from the supplier at £236.00 dollars!!!!!!!! She kept going on that it was tax free etc...RIP OFF but my fault for being so gulliable. The food in the Oceanic cafe was amazing however we found it hard to get served drinks from the bar and had to go and get it ourselves (when on the other 2 ships we never had to do this) We also found that between a few of the staff there was a bit of conflict. When eating outside one morning I asked one of the staff (who was pushing a dirty dishes trolley) could he remove the dishes from the table, he did not reply to me and gave me a glazed look then called another man over and told him to move the dishes and the other man kindly did so but I could see that he was not happy to do so and he looked a bit confused. There was alot of drunk people around, we noticed that alot of the activities encouraged alcohol consumption. This is fair enough but my young son and his friends were hanging out in the hide out and a couple from Northern Ireland who were very drunk decided to take it on themselves to tell the teen agers that they were annoying and who did they think they were taking over the hide out and the man challanged the teens to a fight!!! There were alot of families with teens and younger families and it was not nice to see so many drunk people. One of our ports had been changed and we did not know about this until we got the nightly newsletter- we were meant to go to Laverno and went to La Spezia instead. We had planned to take a taxi or train to Pisa but La Spezia was further away and we were worried about getting back on time. We loved Gibraltar but DISLIKED Ibiza. The town surrounding the port is Stuck in the 80s and is dirty. The weeds along the sides of the road were about 5ft tall and was full of plastic bags and discarded rubbish. We took a bus trip to the caves - that was not worth the money, and on the way back our bus came accross a road accident, our bus tried to turn and ended up getting damaged, we had to get off the bus and wait for another one. When we returned to the boat we spoke to others who went to beaches and other parts of the Island which were lovely and they agreed that the Port and town of Ibiza was horrible. Caragena was nice and we did a bit of shopping there, quite a nice walk into the town and lots of bars, shops and resturants along the streets. I think it has put me off going on Celebrity as it was not as nice as the previous 2 cruises that I had been on, I dont think that the Spanish people are as nice as the Greek people and the scenery on the Greek Islands is much much nicer also. Great cruise! This is a great cruise for those who like to keep busy. 9 ports in 11 days. I loved it, but was disappointed with the food served on the Reflection. The staff was great and so was the service however I thought that food preparation was sub par. There were many nights when our food was brought cold to the table in the dining room. Cold, rubbery lobster is not high on my food choice! Other than that it was a great cruise. This is our first cruise in the Mediterranean so everything is new to us. Having an overnight stay in Barcelona was great, there is so much to do and see. The first day we went to Monserrat. What a lovely place, so beautiful. The next day we explored Barcelona, so we really appreciated the two day stay. When in Livorno we did the Cinque Terre. It was a long tour but beautiful. You could not do it any faster or you would have missed out on so of the sights. All the ports were great but as I said, this cruise is not for the faint of heart as there are only two sea days. The ports on this cruise were attractive even though we had already been to Tenerife and Malaga. We have friends in Malaga so this was a good opportunity to catch up with them. We boarded after 2 pm so there was no wait at all to board; very efficient procedure and our bags were in the cabin within a couple of hours. Service by the cabin attendant was at the usual high level. He was very friendly and always eager to please. But is it really necessary to be reminded that " a 10 is my favorite number" when completing the survey? Food in the main restaurant (Opus) was disappointing. We had sailed on Celebrity fifteen years or so ago and the quality was definitely better then. Of course we can pay $50 extra to dine at the Murano restaurant; but wait, there's more: if you decide to have the lobster it will be $29 more. We accepted an invitation to dine at Qsine when they offered a 50% discount fee on the $45 fee. We enjoyed it but thought that the normal fee was high. We only saw a couple of the shows and were not impressed so we stopped going to them. The daily activities were not attractive. My wife missed the cooking lessons that were offered on recent Holland America cruises. This is specially important with so many days at sea. We did find out about an anadvertised sushi presentation but that was an exception. Only one port required tendering (Villefranche) and that was fortunate as there was a very long wait to disembark. Disembarkation in Civitavecchia was very well executed with no long waits. Read Less

Our transatlantic cruise from Miami to Rome on the Celebrity Reflection April-May 2017. Globally the cruise was okay, but to take advantage of the first 7 days at sea you had to speak English. The first seven days are important because all activates and ship life is on the ship. Since all activities except a few gym activities required English many where deprived of the advantages offered to guest that spook English. When you pay for a cruise the same price as everyone else you expect the same advantages. For this cruise this wasn't the case, When you take an international flight you have the choice of many movies in many languages, it is sad to say that the television on this cruise was horrible. At least if you couldn't participate in the activities on the cruise you could take in a movie in your language (they can do it on planes). Second remark, the library was a joke more books where on shelves that weren't accessible and again only in English (I know books are hard to get but I am sure I could find books in many languages and free.) The only documents that where available in different languages was the "TODAY" often badly translated and missing key information and the "Actuality pages". Like I explained in the beginning this was for the first part of the cruise, once you start having ports calls the problem disappears. Also some important alerts where announces by the Captain during bad weather and again only in English. For the crew members they were all very professional, but what saved the day during that difficult period for my wife is the evening meal (late seating OPUS restaurant table 126) because of the service and language support she got from our waitress Silvana. This was our 15th cruise and the second one with Celebrity Cruise, but it was the first time with as many days at sea without a port call. During that period of isolation more consideration should be show to none English speaking customers. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the itinerary (Miami to early off in Villefranche), the price, and one past experience with Celebrity which was mostly positive. The embarkation was smooth and efficient. Welcome buffet was good, and our stateroom was available earliest than usual. Our steward met us in the room, answered questions and began two weeks of excellent service. The room (deck 3, middle of ship) was smaller than some, but well laid out with plenty of storage. The bathroom was very good, with room in the shower to turn around. The location was a real plus on the one very rough afternoon and evening. Quite stable even as the waves crashed against the window. There was no clothesline in the shower which became important as the ship has no launderettes, a problem on a two week cruise. The ship laundry was very expensive and the full bag special at $50 was way overpriced. The food in Opus, the main dining room was very good to excellent. The service was good as well. We did open seating and only had to wait twice for a two-top. The food upstairs was also good, but the layout was confusing. Open air seating on the aft deck was lovely. We did not try any of the very expensive specialty restaurants nor did we buy the very expensive drinks package. One of us got the coffee/soda package which is worth the price for someone who likes good coffee. The public spaces were the noisiest of any ship we have ever been on. Hard to get away from the constant loud music even in places promoted as quiet. Only outdoors on deck five was it quiet. Near the pool was constant loud music or very loud group activities. The bars which often provide respite were full of art auctions and other such activities. The enrichment lectures were terrible. The lecturer on the Roman Empire (appropriate as the destination was Rome) did not know his subject, made lots of factual errors and tried to be funny. The Hollywood speaker was all about himself. The destination talks were pure sales pitches. No helpful information for those going ashore independently. On a seven sea day cruise enrichment is even more important. Celebrity failed this one. With the exception of the singer who did a Judy Garland evening and one of the acrobats who was terrific, the guest entertainers were from mediocre to embarrassing. The production nights were loud, the choreography awful, the stories ridiculous. If one closed one's eyes it would have been difficult to,tell the shows apart save for the gender of the lead singer. The entertainment in the foyer was better, particularly when dance music was played. Many people thoroughly enjoyed dancing. Given that we did not like the entertainment it would have been helpful to have a wider selection of in-room movies and TV shows. It was difficult to get information about our early departure, but in the event the staff were very helpful. It turned out to be the only tender port which made things more difficult, but the thirty or so of us who left did so first. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we had such a good experience last year in a suite on a Mediterranean trip. A few things have changed since last year that we do not feel were for the better. The butler service for suites is greatly reduced, the special restaurant Luminae was crowded and often too full to get a reservation during the usual eating hours for most Americans(6 to 8 pm). The cruise line suggests booking all your dinner reservations when you first board the ship but who wants that kind of fixed schedule when cruising to relax? The Luminae waiters are young and engaging, but they need more training in fine dining. The Michael's Club bar was very noisy. The excursions were predictable and in this age of internet searches and bookings many found more interesting and personalized trips online for less than Celebrity wanted for the ordinary. The shuttles to town from the port docks are now 5 or so euros and don't put you close to convenient spots in the town; several times considerable walking was required after leaving the bus to reach tourist areas or public transportation. Our cabin steward was terrific and the conceirges were most helpful. For us, what had been an exceptional experience last year was mediocre this year. Read Less

We went on this one week Caribbean cruise as part of an included charter flight package from Canada at a very attractive price. Picked an upgraded cabin at the rear of the ship.We were part of a group of 8. The design of the ship is like a high end hotel with lots of dark wood etc. In the evening the centre atrium seems like a night club- rather dark. The dining room is very large with 2 story height and seating on 2 levels. Impressive look. We have travelled a great deal on the Princess larger ships so we inevitably made some comparisons. The things we liked were: - Meals and service in the main dining room were excellent. Cabin design was excellent with a deep balcony and a love seat in each cabin. Storage space and closet space however was much less than we get on Princess. The things that we didn't like were: 1. We are non smokers. The Sunset bar at the top rear of the ship is beautiful, but we gave up on sitting there. There is an artificial line down the centre of the ship that one side is smoking and one side non smoking. So when sitting in the bar, you may be as little as 10 ft way from a large group of smokers. Even when we tried to sit further away from the centre line, we often found that there was so much smoke smell drifting our way, we eventually gave up on using this bar ( too bad). on the pool deck, the area beside the bar is also designated smoking so all the tables there are taken up with smokers and even when waiting for a drink, it is pretty strong. 2. On Princess, the deck loungers are typically arranged in sets of 2 with a small table in between for drinks, etc. On the Reflection, to increase capacity around the pool areas, there are no tables and the loungers are squeezed against each other with no room between. When you want to get on your pool lounger, you have to crawl on from the end. You cannot put your drink on the ground beside you since the loungers were generally touching. On the upper seating area around the pool, the running track goes right by the ends of your loungers so joggers have to run right by the end of the loungers and you have to be careful when getting off them. 3. We felt that on port days , if you didn't go ashore or were back early and didn't want to be outside at the pool, there were virtually no activities available. When we returned early from port ( at about 2:30), on the lower areas of the ship, virtually all the bars were closed and it took us about 45 minutes to locate one where we could get a beer. This is totally different on Princess where both for food and bar service and activities, it seems there is always something going on in the Atrium ( or Piazza as they call it). 4. Up on the pool deck, we were not impressed with the bar staff. With some exceptions, we did not find them to be particularly friendly or attentive. 5. The buffet was not well designed for flow and there were many lineups at certain stations and a lot of cutting in and some conflict. Also when the formal lunch time ended, there was a very minimal section open with very limited selection. On Princess, it always seems there is plentiful selection at all times of day. Service on the back open deck was terrible and we complained about it. 6 As a design note, I don't get the big lawn. It seems very wasted space. Most of the time, there were notes not to walk on it. In general, we decided we would not return to a cruise on Celebrity . Read Less

Wife and I are in our early-mid 50's, but pretty hip so not into an "old people" cruise at all. We had sailed on Celeb Summit last year (first cruise) and had a REALLY great experience so decided to give it another whirl this year for the kids Spring Break. Overall good, but nowhere near the positive level of experience as last year. Reflection is a nice, big boat, but felt far more impersonal, no real quiet outdoor areas, mediocre entertainment, etc. Room was good with a decent balcony, but LOUD for many reasons. Food was very good, but not as varied as Summit. Ports were ok, but we're not big port fans - one exception was Labadee - AWESOME! Opus Dining Room was ok, but not as good as Summit overall. Food was ok in the dining room, but nothing special. Felt like the cafe food level plated for you. Wines were average level and we had the premium drink level. Saw a few wines I buy at Costco for around $10-12 per bottle. Service overall was good, but bar service tended to be problematic in the popular areas. Loved our room attendant. Overall somewhere between a 3 and 4. As my cabin review states, I had trouble with noise in the room. I also tried to get some down time around the pool - that wasn't happening. WHAT IS IT WITH CRUISES THINKING THEY CONSTANTLY HAVE TO BLAST MUSIC??? Yes, I had to yell that. I would start to nod off around the pool in a shady area and then there would be some band or DJ starting up. The DJ was EXTRAORDINARILY annoying running silly pool games, etc. Annoying voice and shouting all the time. Interestingly had an overnight in Miami before we sailed and the hotel had very cool hipster lounge music playing at the pool at reasonable volumes. Really enjoyed that. This was more akin to a college Spring Break Lauderdale pool without all the hot bodies around. Seriously Celeb - please get a clue on this. Most of your clientele aren't into this. We're not huge port fans. Always feel like it's the tourist hustle. Did the Jamaica zip line / tubing excursion which was OK. Chukka is the company that runs it. Not bad. Staff was great and a very good jerk chicken lunch! The real treat was Labadee, Haiti. This a private resort owned by RC / Celeb. It is AWESOME. Beautiful, clean, not commercialized. Fantastic beaches, zip lines, tours, etc. Just gorgeous. Entertainment was mediocre. Couple of good comedians. Everything else was a total bore. Why not show movies? That would have been better. I am a mom of two girls (ages 9 and 10) who cruised with some friends and their daughter on the 3.18 Eastern Carribbean itinerary on the Celebrity Reflection. We have previously cruised over 5 times on RCCL, twice on DCL, and once on Carnival. This was our first (and probably last) experience on Celebrity. While there was not much "wrong" with this cruise... I mean heck... its a cruise... any cruise is a good cruise..... there was also not much that was "Amazing" on this cruise. For someone who has never cruised before, I am sure this would be an awesome experience. However we found ourselves bored. There was NOT much in the form of daytime activities/entertainment (unless you consider talks on "arthritis solutions" or officer vs guests bocce your idea of fun). Embarkation was a breeze. They have this running smoothly. From the time we were dropped off at the port it was maybe 15-20 minutes until we were on board with a glass of champagne in our hand. Kudos to Celebrity for expediting this process. As I mentioned, I traveled with my two kids. The kids club was fine. I was appreciative My girls enjoyed some of their activities and some they did not care for. They much more preferred the kids club on RCCL. They did enjoy exploring the ship and finding cool spots like "Game on" on Deck 9 and the "Hideaway" on Deck 7. One area where I was disappointed was the food. Both RCCl and DCL are FAR SUPERIOR in both of these categories. The food on Celebrity is just "eh" in my opinion. The main dining room served the same breakfast (only ordered off a menu) as was available in the buffet. The selections were the same every single day with no variation. We ate in the Lawn Club Grill which was good.... however our waiter was horrible. He could not understand English very well and he messed up one of the girls' orders and he basically insisted that he was right, when he wasn't. We did really Love our waitstaff in the main dining room too.... they were awesome. One thing I did like was that when you ordered a drink they didn't print a receipt and ask for extra gratuity like they do on RCCL. That was a welcome change. Speaking of drinks, the martini bar has some great martinis and the sunset bar is a beautiful place to hang out, be outside, and enjoy the atmosphere. The ports of call were awesome. San Juan - we got off and walked to the fort, explored there and walked around a bit. It was cloudy and almost raining so we did not get off the boat for too long. In St. Maarten we had pre-arranged a sea turtle snorkeling trip with Captain Alan.... it was AWESOME. Highlight of our cruise. The prettiest island we visited too! In St. Kitts we took a taxi to the Marriott and paid for the resort day pass ($59/adults, kids under 12 free). This was great. Kids LOVED the BIG pool and we enjoyed relaxing, swimming, and exploring this beautiful property. As for entertainment on board, our girls liked the production shows. We watched one of the comedians and he was funny, although Celebrity has a different comedian on each cruise. The "cabaret" night was lame. Overall... it was fine. Nothing amazing. Nothing terrible. Just fine. Based on this cruise though I would not book celebrity again for a cruise that had 3 sea days. I need more activities/entertainment. I also prefer the larger rooms of the other cruise lines and the better food of DCL or RCCL. Read Less

Embarkation and Diembarkation was very good. We arrived at 11:00am and were on the boat by 11:35. Getting off was even faster. We chose the express checkout at 7:00am and we were off the boat and in a cab within 10minutes. Service was good. Our room was always clean and our steward was always nearby and helpful. Our safe was not working when we first arrived, but we called right away and they came to fix it within 15 mins. Service in the dining areas was great. Except for those taking drinks. More often than not, we either had to go to the bar ourselves or hail someone down to order drinks. I appreciated the fact they were always handing out hand sanitizer. This was a very clean ship. Dining was just ok. Similar to reviews from others, the main dining room menu was bland and boring. Essentially you order a protein each night with mashed potatoes, green beans and carrots. I am not kidding, each meal had the same sides , every night. The Buffett had much better variety for breakfast, so after the first two days we stopped going to the main dining room. The speciality restaurants were better. We enjoyed the Tuscan grill the best, but the food was similar to dining room quality on other cruises. I believe they deliberately push people to the speciality restaurants by making the main dining room bland. Cabin was a good size and was a good use of space. The bathroom was well set up with lots of storage space. The closet should have had some shelving installed on one side. The drawers near the fridge and cabinets above the bed were not convenient for clothing. Room was quiet, which surprised me, since we were close to the elevators. Entertainment. We did not attend any of the main shows. We always find them poor. The bands playing in the centre of the ship were very talented. However, the design of this ship was poor. The majority of the lounges, bars and public areas are located in the middle of the ship. Most are open concept, which means the boat is crowded as everyone is moving through the same spaces. Since the music was in the open area, whatever was playing is what you were forced to listen to on the majority of decks. During the day if you wanted to hang out on the library or hideaway to read or enjoy some quiet time, it was difficult to do so. They too, are open to the center of the ship so you either here the activity noise or the constant ding of the elevators. Your room was truly the only place you could go for some peace and quiet. Also the bars were annoying. Bars that were supposed to be open were closed. There are very few multi-purpose bars, which meant we had to go to multiple bars on different decks to get what we both wanted. Bars also carried different types of beers and wines, so you couldn't always count on getting what you wanted. The most annoying was the fact that you could not enjoy the products in your room fridge even though they were the same products on our premium drink package. That's right, I could walk to a bar and order a Heineken, but if I drank the one in my fridge they would charge me. This made no sense and essentially made the in-room fridge a waste. The ports were fine. San Juan and St. Kitts were great. Lots to do and see. St. Maarten was not our thing. It is primarily a shopping port (diamonds), which is not why we cruise. It also had several beaches, but with several boats in port, they were crowded. We returned to ship after a couple hours. This was our first trip with Celebrity, we will not cruise on this boat again for sure. We may try another celebrity boat or return to Holland America. Read Less

Altogether the cruise was amazing except for the excessive vibrations in our cabin! I was sailing with my wife, and my 2 kids (10 and 12). They loved the cruise because of free wifi, they were gaming non-stop. We were in a Royal Suite on deck 11 #1622. The dining was amazing, Illuminae had to have been the best. The entertainment and activities were outstanding! Our butler Edwin was especially nice and always brought my kids cookies. We did 2 shore excursions. The first one was in Puerto Rico, we went zip lining. It was pretty good. Then in St. Kitts and Nevis we did a catermeran snorkel/beach on Nevis that left from Kitts. It was really fun! We would not go again on Celebrity beacuase of the viberations, but the service was awesome. Honestly I would not recommend this ship for first cruisers because it will ruin the experience. Thanks Celebrity Reflection crew for a awesome service. Read Less

We chose this Caribbean cruise whilst on the Eastern Mediterranean cruise on the same ship (Reflection) Whilst the staff were as always very good, the overall atmosphere was very different. It was quite obviously targeted at the US culture rather than British or European with numerous almost constant Art Auctions and other "offers" The music by the pool was much much louder than the previous med cruise and was rock based therefore not allowing any real relaxation other than to head somewhere else away from the pool Great food as usual especially the select dining, cabins comfortable although this time we went Concierge rather than Aqua and whilst the cabins were meant to be the same the showers weren't as good as the all round shower we had with Aqua Class Whilst also not a major issue having 4 sea days out of a 7 day holiday meant that you were a little constrained in what you could do and the stops were short and brief compared to the Med cruise So whilst it was a great holiday, it made us think before booking with Celebrity again Read Less

The food was OK... nothing fabulous. The service in the dining room was not relaxing... but I feel that was the fault of our waiter.... by the 4th night I finally had to tell him "don't rush me"! We even paid extra for one of the specialty restaurants...$45 per person.... only to see the same thing I had on the menu in the regular (Opus) dining room a day later..... Also, we were told we were getting the Premium Beverage package by our Celebrity Cruise Planner only to find out on board we only had the Classic package. But of course they would allow us to "upgrade" if we paid $10 extra per person per day.... an additional $140 !! This is our thirds celebrity cruise and the least impressive. We went on the Summit twice before this and thought it was a better ship with a much better entertainment director and crew. Cabins: See my cabin complaint under Cabin Review. I would like to note though that they are impeccably clean and the housekeeping staff is unbelievably great. Dining: We really prefer not going to upgraded restaurants. Firstly Celebrity lost our set dining reservation which is obnoxious so they moved us to select dining. Luckily the Host was great and just made us a reservation each night for the next night when we came to dinner. We thought service was not great in the dining room. Slow to take orders, basically no drink service, menu has become extremely boring and now they try to sell you dishes from specialty restaurants in the dining room. I actually think they are trying to push you out of the dining rooms into the specialty restaurants by reducing quality. We actually thought the buffet was better than the dining room which is something we would never normally say. Entertainment: The entertainment director who is an older woman (can't remember her name she made that little of an impression) is the most dull out of any cruise director i've ever seen on a ship. It's almost like that's not really her job and they just stuck her in there. The production shows are awful and I mean awful. The performers actually seem to be very talented singers and dancers but whoever is choosing and writing these shows is on drugs. They are like awful high school productions. The comedians they had were good. The beetles just weren't my thing and the tenors of rock are extremely boring (and i'm a rock guy). As far as activities through the day we did some of the putting challenges and dance classes but overall though that entertainment was lacking. Pool Area: Too small and cramped on sea days. Shore Excursions Through Celebrity: First the staff on the shore excursions desk have no idea what they are talking about when it comes to the excursions. I questioned what type of transportation was provided and after I booked they were completely wrong. Also you are not getting the best tour operaters by booking through celebrity. While I thought the Playa Mia cooking class was fantastic, the grand cayman barrier reef snorkel and stingray city tour was among the wrost tours ive ever been on. It was poorly organized. You waited 2 hours standing around before even getting on a boat. The boat was dirty and old. They take you snorkeling at a place with no fish amd cram you into horrible vans for transport. I could have easily found a better tour operator myself. Overall I didn't dislike the cruise but I thought it was among the bottom of my cruise experiences. I guess I would try Celebrity again but before this cruise I would have said I would definetly try Celebrity again so take from that what you will. Read Less

We were part of a group that chose this ship for their annual trip. Cabin with Balcony - Short on storage space. Over bed storage only for the tall among us. Restaurant - Crowded and noisy. Then we were "strongly encouraged" to try the specialty dining. (If you go at 6, we will give you 30% off. No? Then we can also give you a bottle of champagne. No? How about a 9 PM seating? We can give you 50% off. Felt like we were playing "Let's Make a Deal" The problem with this type of selling is that no matter what you pay, you feel you were taken.) Dined at the Tuscan Restaurant. Did not feel the meal was worth the price although the dining room was much more comfortable than the main dining room. Two nights at the theater, sections of seats were reserved for "Suite and Above". You had to give the name of your butler to gain admittance. This practice was not announced in the daily paper, so you did not know until arriving at the theater that prime seating was limited. Perhaps in the future they should just have classes of ships labeled, middle class, wealthy and super wealthy.(Forget the poor altogether. They can't afford to cruise) Information in room said breakfast room service available until 11 AM. I called at 10:45 and was told that breakfast service was over. Wine Service - This is our second Celebrity cruise and for the second time, they have run out of the lower price bottled wine selections at mid cruise forcing us to buy "up". Once is a mistake. Second time it appears to be modus operandi. Pool area - not enough seating for sea days. Only lounges available at all times. Prefer the type seating available on other lines with hard back dining type chairs and small tables for snacks or playing games like Scrabble or checkers. Valet disembarkment - love leaving my luggage outside my door and having it taken to the airport not to be seen again until I arrive at my home airport. Airport boarding passes were delivered to our room. Great service available for a modest price. Disembarkment in Miami - Line for those of us with "Global Access" was closed. Process went quickly but would have been quicker if line had been in use. Not sure if this is a port issue or a cruise line issue. Employees on ship, from cabin boys, stewards, wait staff, etc. were very obliging We usually chose our trips by itinerary first. All things being equal, Celebrity would be our last choice of cruise line. We have traveled on Princess, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, Holland America and Carnival.. Read Less
