To start this out, I've been on several cruises now. Around 10 if my memory serves me right. Back in 2013 I had what I thought then was the best week of my life on the valor. One year later on the Freedom that thought changed, making the freedom easily the best week of my life. I figured the cruise I just came back from, the Breeze, would at least be similar. I was wrong. You see, on the valor and the freedom I was in Club O2. Before then I was in circle C. Those clubs are absolutely brilliant. They are fun, they are with people your age, and so on. Meeting people and having the best week of your life is easy when you are 12-17. However, once you hit 18? Good luck. Carnival, and all cruise lines for that matter, screw the 18-20 year olds. Sure there is Liquid Nightclub which is 18+. The issue with that is that the club, when it has any people at all, is dominated by people in their 30s. I was there quite a bit, and never once saw someone vaguely my age. Moving on from the fact that there isn't an 18-20 club, there also is no 18-20 meet up. This is baffling to me. There are LGBT, transsexual, recovering alcoholic, and recovering drug addict meet ups every night, but not one for the 18-20 crowd. Couple the fact that there isn't a designated club with the fact that there isn't even a meetup and you create a situation that makes it almost impossible to meet people in the 18-20 age group. Which is a struggling group already, since on the breeze there were a total of 67 18-20 year olds. That's like finding a needle in a haystack. There are other issues as well. Club O2 is now on lock. If your name isn't on the list you're not getting in. Any 18 year old who is 18 by a day won't be able to get in. So, any event that is 15-17 is strictly guarded for only that age group. However, most 18+ events are not guarded at all. Despite being 18, I look like I'm 12. I was only ever carded for the comedy show. I'll use the deck party as an example. That was branded as 18+, yet most of the people there were 16 and below. Chilling at the bar isn't really an option, as not only can you not drink, but the people there will be 21+. That shouldn't be the goto place for people in the 18-20 group. If that's what carnival thinks, it's kinda screwed up. Put all that together and you have a situation which is just about impossible to deal with. I'm a social guy, in fact I walked up to and said hi to probably upwards of 100 people, yet it still didnt work. There's literally nothing else I could have done. The lax age requirements of 18+, the fact that there isn't an 18-20 club, and the fact that there isn't even a meet up make it extremely hard. I hate saying this. I really do. Carnival has given me the greatest weeks of my life by a long shot. I love recommending them. However, I don't think I can recommend them for anyone who is in the 18-20 age group. If you're 17 and below, go have a blast. Meet people from around the world and bond, it's easy. But if you're 18? Good luck. And that is seemingly the stance carnival takes as well. "Good luck." I'm not the only 18-20 year old who thinks this either. Maybe it's just the setup of the breeze, but the people in that demographic that I did meet had the exact same complaints. Club o2 is great. Absolutely fantastic. Liquid nightclub, and the way carnival handles the 18-20 age group? Terrible. Despite all that, carnival still has my heart. The comedy club is absolutely hilarious, they always have things going on, the food is great and for the most part keep the fun aspect of their name. My only gripe, albeit a huge one, is with the social aspect of my age group. All I really ask is for there to be a meetup. It shouldn't be hard to do, yet when I emailed cruise directors and things of the like they absolutely declined. I'd love to know why, and when I asked, I wasn't given an answer. I'm not sure I'll be cruising next year. I hate saying that. But as of now, with how screwed the 18-20s are, I fear that it is my only real option. Until this gets fixed, meeting others comes down to sheer luck, even with the most social of people. Clearly something that clearly wasn't on my side during my time on the Breeze. After writing all of that I talked with the cruise director, Matt. I asked if there were any plans for the 18-20 age group. He responded with this- "that's an interesting question. Only recently, the past year or two, have the 18-20 age group really been complaining that they have nothing to do. We recognize this complaint, and in fact find that it is founded. While I know carnival isn't willing to shell out the money for a designated club for you guys, I do know that we are all working on a program similar to that of club o2. Maybe have a meet up or two and things of the like. It's beyond apparent that only having the liquid nightclub isn't enough, especially considering how you guys can't drink. We're working on it." That's beyond reassuring. I hope that carnival gets that in place quickly. If that holds true I'm certain the 18-20 age group will thrive again. In fact, I'm beyond excited. I can't wait to see where this goes. Read Less

This is my seventh cruise and second on Carnival. Unless you get a great deal I would not recommend sailing with them. The service is not good, the rooms dirty, the food terrible and the fact that we are on a Christmas cruise with minimal decorations ( a small tree here or there) and no Christmas music has disappointed all 12 of us. We went on the Magic two years ago and it was great however since then we all feel that Carnival has gone in the wrong direction. We all wish we went with another cruise line. I would highly recommend searching out a good deal on another cruise line at least until Carnival gets it together.   Read Less

we went with myself, husband , our two boys 6 and 8 and my girl friend and her 10 yo son. ive been on about 5 cruises now...3 were 20 plus years ago and two recently. this one and the Disney Dream. we were super excited to go on a newer huge ship. we had an inside room that was nice and cozy....was worried b/c i tend to get claustrophobic but did not at all! i was soo looking forward to the shows and the food! the motown show(singing and dancing) was really good...something went wrong near the beginning of the show and shut down for about 15 minutes and right away our cruise director Matt ran up on stage without missing a beat and kept the entire theater entertained and laughing while the show ppl worked the technical difficulty! Matt is AMAZING!!!!!! he was the bom-bom diggity bom!! he was ON the ENTIRE CRUISE! so great!!! and he's sooooo handsome ladies!! lol! he made us all laugh always. so! we were really excited about what the food selections would be and i must tell you we were very let down. the guy fierri burgers looked great but were bland! even with all the topping and sauces ....i was shocked! they need to add dry seasonings or something to the beef before they cook it! im sooo serious. the buffet was just so average (golden corral is about 8 times better!) and the workers werent on it to replenish things that ran out! the breakfast buffet and brunch were nothing special at all! the ice cream machines werent anything close to being real ice cream....! i hope the powers that be will read this but no one in the dining area realizes that the lemonade machines are serving out lemonade AND apple juice concentrate that's NOT diluted at all with water. drinking them straight almost "hurt" going down!! you MUST add water even if they don't! the hot chocolate machine tho was very nice to have anytime you wanted. the deserts weren't that good at all. even in the dining room, the creme bruele' was warm BOTH times. bad timing! also, we tried the free style dining for the very first time ever...never again if i can help it! part of the cruising experience is getting treated a certain way....and we only guessed at who the maitre d was....no one EVER asked beyond a waiter how we were and could they do anything for us. not once! we like getting the same wait staff each night where they are happy to see you and know you by name and have your favorite drink waiting, etc. plus, with the freestyle dining, they gave out those blinking pagers AFTER you waited in a long line to just be given one to WAIT even longer! it was crazy! also, the the line to dine winded around several photographers and their backdrops and lighting and mini lines for those wanting pics! you had to scootch sideways just to get thru on the main floor. very bizarre. the thrill theater was fun. def buy the unlimited package. i hope that you run into Chris there....he is AWESOME!!! esp with children. he was a standout staff member and he's from connecticut! sooo friendly and just great to be around! i know im jumping around but i dont have time to lay this review out properly! sorry! our room steward was nice....and he kept our room excellent at all times! shopping onboard....we were shocked at how reasonable the prices were...esp the candy shop! we bought several items from a couple different shops, including clothing. the one lady who seemed in charge wasnt pleasant tho. also, the 3rd/main floor bar with the dance floor in front of it , the bartenders could have cared less that i was there and oddly, i could not catch their eye EVEN when they WEREN'T busy! what the heck?? oh! bring an extension cord with more plug space! our room only gets one two outlet plug! the comedian onboard was very funny and we really liked that he had a show that was r rated and another show that was g rated! very clever of him to do that! also, get there early because ppl know to get in line about half an hour before because these small theaters fill up fast! a magician, ELTON popped up out of no where with no warning at our dinner table one night and he rocked our world!!!!! the kids and i asked him if we could take him home with us he was AMAZING!!!!!!!!! he did table magic and the kids just freaked out with excitement...as did i! lol! he was soo funny and clever and uber talented!!!! we LOVE YOU ELTON!!!! go to his show at the breezeway lounge like an HOUR before just to get a good seat! kids get on the floor in front of his table. do NOT miss him!!!! about the info desk....good luck trying to call down to them! just call room service and try to get connected that way. i thought the line went entirely too slow each time we went there for a question...they need to call in reinforcements when they see there's a line, come on! getting on and off the boat was fine for excursions. OH! i hope Carnival is reading this. when we went to the terminal to check in before we initially got on the boat...what the heck!!? the music was TWICE, no lie....TWICE as loud as it should have been...we could not hear one thing the lady was asking us until we shouted "can you please repeat that" and lean way way in. what is the point of having such ridiculously LOUD music when you are trying to take care important business?? this took TWICE as long as it should have since we had to keep having to have her repeat her questions! btw there is real scoop ice cream and better looking pasties for sale at a nominal charge back in the breezeway lounge area and gourmet coffees that i discovered toward the end of our cruise. i thought the hot tubs would be full of children at all hours like another post stated but that was not the case on our cruise. the ship is spotless and super nice. shows were fine to great (elton) and food was nothing to wake up early for. i will never free style dine again since you dont get that special excited feeling PLUS you have to wait TWICE most times to even get seated which was strange because we saw so many empty tables on most nights! my friends mother fainted in the dining room after dinner and i must say, they reacted with lightening speed to attend to her....i was very impressed when all the suits showed up super fast and a medic and then the dr. was almost out of breath when he got there...excellent response! the rear pool/hot tubs arent super full b/c it smells like sulphur b/c of the ships exhaust. not super heavy smell but still there. also, it would have been nice to have hot tubs surrounding the main pool on deck 10 so the parents could be in the hot tub while watching their children in the pool. also, most of ea day the big jumbo outdoor movie screen is mostly on a still screen that says dive-in movie for hours at a time and an annoying buzz from it just buzzes non stop. they should at least play cartoons or comedy ...just something to entertain. in the casino, they constantly ask to scan your room card to the point of being very annoying as if they want to keep track of your progress. they act as tho you're gonna get some great reward in the end by building up "points" or something, then you are let down when you get absolutely nothing! 90% of the time, we saw no one in the liquid lounge nor both teenage lounges (except on new years eve)....! about the kids club. this one seemed better than the disney one b/c it was age based maybe? BUT!!! please please powers that be! you MUST offer video games AT ALL TIMES for ages 6 and up in the kids club because our son wanted to go back to play wii (which we dont own at home) only to find out it's only offered at certain times and is just sitting there but not allowed to be played! i would loved to have had a few more breaks by having our sons safely in the kids club happily playing video games even tho i was happy to get away from them knowing we were going on a cruise BUT i just wanted to sit quietly looking out at the ocean and relax at will but could not tempt the kids to go back when it wasn't Video time! PLUS! they hardly got a turn playing b/c it's so limited!!!! also...my husband said the kids club is only open from 7pm-1 am....! how can one relax by the pool for like an hour during the day with children?! most of the water spraying guns dont work in the splash zone! and the huge dump bucket was only turned on ONCE during our cruise and it's prob b/c it was just way too powerful...our 9 yo friend got knocked into my sons head with the force of the water coming down and got a nasty pretty large bruise on his chin. other than that, the kids loved it anyways. but they should adjust the force. also, not one person asked us how can they/carnival make our cruise experience better....! also, at breakfast, there is a large area of dry cereal with NO SPOONS in sight...esp not in the wrapped silverware! with the bubbles card...(unlimited soft drinks...you pay extra for this) when u flagged a waiter down to get a soft drink (incl in casino) they got it for you but never checked on you again ...ever. in the casino, the most popular game is roulette and there are two tables...one smoking and one non. if you are forced to play at the smoking one, beware if you use the mandatory cup holders for your cold drinks...when you lift the glass up to take a sip, dont be surprised if you have cigarrette butts and ash on the bottom of it b/c if you're lucky, there will be ONE ashtray per table of 10-15 ppl that rarely gets recognized! also, cigars arent allowed in the casino. oh! we dont understand why no movies were shown at the ovation theater... also....i was surprised to see a bunch of windows that needed to be cleaned on the outside for better viewing. esp in the market cafe buffet area. carnival should have window washers keeping those windows pristine like Disney does. overall....it was a VERY nice and clean ship...bedding was great (bring your own pillows for comfort tho). if you dont mind just average food, you'll have a great time!! This was my 12th cruise, but the first with Carnival Cruise Lines. EMBARKATION: This was a mess! I received an email then a phone call asking me not to come to the port before 1:30PM. When I got there, there was already a long line. It took over an hour to get my cabin key. I have never had to wait this long on any other cruise line. There was very poor coordination and the staff seemed very disinterested. Although the lines were long I noticed two women behind the counter having a conversation rather than trying to get the attention of the next person in the line. Also, the person from Carnival in front of the line was too lazy to walk up and down to see when a window was opened. I finally got on board after 3:00 PM and we left over an hour late. FOOD: The food in the Sapphire room was so-so. The best thing about that food was the bread. I ate sushi two nights and that was delicious and definitely worth the price. DISEMBARKATION:This was a total nightmare. I elected to put my suitcase out the night before. I had a number of 32. My number was supposed to be called between 10:15 and 10:45. By 11:00 they were just calling 20! I had a 2:00 flight so I walked off with this number instead of waiting. I only waited 5 minutes for my luggage and I found my bus to Miami airport. There was supposed to be someone from Carnival outside directing us to the bus, there wasn't. A cab driver told me where to get my prepaid transfer.   Read Less

This was my second and his first cruise. The ship was large and clean. The staff were very friendly. They catered to your every need. The good was good but occasionally bland. The ship is beginning to show signs of wear. Needs some touch ups and attention is all. Hubby had a blast other than a few run is with rude Hispanic passengers. I understand a lot of Spanish and the majority of the very large Spanish passenger population were extremely rude and pushy. Their was a strong Latin vibe on this ship. Even the tv channels were in Spanish or had Spanish subtitles. Latin music was everywhere. I love Latin music and culture but it was a bit too much even got me. As a note I know carnival cannot control other passengers and have nothing to do with their rudeness. That being said, the majority of the Hispanic passengers would speak Spanish around other passengers especially Caucasian passengers assuming they couldn't understand them. I heard a lot of rude remarks and nastiness from these people. It was sad that a perfectly great time was ruined by inconsiderate rude people making fun of others. Read Less

This was our first cruise ever. Loved almost everything, Way to much Latin music needs to be little more country. Comedy shows need larger venue way to small had to stand. Steakhouse is worth every penny, loved it so much we went twice. Buffet if good, ice cream is wonderful had a least 3-6. Cones a day love ice cream. Bartender Lydia in main lounge was very wonderful we loved her. Guys burgers very good. Didn't do a lot of excursions just tried to learn for our next cruise, did go to bay hide beach on Dominican Republic loved it but they give you a time to be back to get on bus but there where several people late so we waited for about 30 mins. I would have left them. Grand Turk was nice stayed in pool mostly. Did some shopping in curaçao and Aruba if buying jewelry u can find some good deals but everything else seems high to me. Absolutely loved the movies outside by the pool at night. Debarkation we got there around 6:45 am going to start letting off around 7:15 am Carnival didn't have enough people working this people started breaking line and made a real mess of this process, carnival really needs to work on this process. Loved cruise so much looking to book another one soon on the breeze. Read Less

Had a great time overall, our room was #6221, there was so much creaking and so many other noises that it made it hard to sleep, would not suggest this room..... Food was awesome especially enjoyed paying extra for the Steakhouse and the Italian Restaurant, their food was delicious! My friends loved the Sushi but I don't do Sushi....they had barbecue one afternoon and it was pretty good for being a free meal....the Guy Fierier (sp) hamburger joint was pretty good too! Entertainment was pretty good on this ship.....they had some good musical type shows, some hilarious adult comedy shows and a pretty good magician.... The staff on this ship went out of their way to make us happy! Tri (pronounced Tree) was our room steward and he was awesome!! Best room steward so far!! The overall ship ride was very bumpy, they say they go faster to get where they are going and boy does it make a difference on the motion!!! Whoooooooo.............. One of our ports was the Dominican Republic, La Romana and was not impressed, I heard that Punta Cana was the best area.... Overall had a great time with great friends and would highly suggest this cruise to anyone!!!   Read Less

I was really dismayed with the food, personel, and entertainment on the Carnival Breeze this spring. I thought on a previous cruise on the Carnival Dream that I just didn't like that particular ships food, personel, and entertainment, but I see now that it is a Carnival problem overall. The first morning of the cruise on the Breeze the bananas were brown. By day 2 and on you couldn't get a banana anymore or any other kind of fruit than mostly melons (which I don't like). I had apples the rest of the trip. Once there were grapes placed in the salad bar, and I went to take some (I was sick of apples after a while) and was yelled at by a food server who said the grapes were only for decoration and not to eat. I already had some on my plate so I ate what I had. The shrimp in the shrimp cocktails at dinner were very small and not cold. Very dismal looking. We stopped ordering them. The main dinner menu had a section with the same food listed every night. The dining room photographer never came over to take a picture of my family (even on formal nights) whether we were with a group of passengers we didn't know or when we switched to a table of our own. That was a first! Most of the shows were boring. We stopped going. Not into Doo Wop either. Everyone crowded the Comedy shows, because it was the only show that was half way decent. We did the trivia as well. It was good and it was something to do. The Piano Bar guy thought he was funny and had the same sticht each night. He won't play your song unless you pay him a lot of cash! Ridiculous! The personel was okay, but not overly friendly or helpful. My sail in card was screwed up from the beginning of our trip and took a while to straighten out. We were given free drink tickets, but you could only use them during breakfast or lunch when we weren't in the dining room and when you don't want to drink because we were going on excursions. They wouldn't honor them at dinner our last night like we were told they would by the Customer Service desk worker. The movies at night by the pool are old. They should play more recent flicks. The young adults on our cruise were drinkers, loud, and always in the way of any walk through by the pool. I wish Carnival would put pools in the Adults only decks (Solariums), so I wouldn't have to just lay and sweat just to have some peace laying out. All in all I will pay more and cruise Royal Caribbean for my future Caribbean cruises. Far better experiences with them. Read Less
