We chose this cruise because we wanted to see the pink sand of Bermuda. Unfortunately Hurricane Jerry wanted to go there too. So it's still on our bucket list. It came as no surprise when I got the email 2 days before we sailed that the itinerary had been changed. We went to Puerto Rico , Dominican Republic and Turks and Caicos. Turks and Caicos was our favorite. The color of the water was absolutely amazing. About the ship....well I think it needs a bit of a facelift. It's looking old, the public areas were very narrow. My husband has to use a scooter and at times it got very narrow. I think the worse thing was the casino. They allow smoking in the casino and it was awful. We usually play in the evening on other cruises, but the smoke was so bad we did not. For sure I would not go on this ship again. Read Less

This is my 3rd cruise on the Breeze, once in 2014 and I decided I would not sail her again. Then my sister and I were looking for a cheap getaway, the pricing was good, so with some hesitation I booked the Breeze in July. We had a great time, the food was a marked improvement, entertainment good and service excellent. Then I booked the Bermuda cruise for September 21, with another couple. The itinerary was changed because of the hurricane. No problem, weather happens. The food was just mediocre at best. The steakhouse took forever and my husband got a tough ribeye, 2 of us didn't even get the meal we ordered. The Italian restaurant I have to say was the best meal we had all week. NOTE to VEGANS very few options for you, unless you want too eat pasta all week. We had no problems with the service on board. Embarkation was quick Debarkation was a nightmare with their new procedures. Everyone complained. It took us 2 and a half hours to get off the ship. This was about my 35th cruise, I have lost count and I am a platinum member with Carnival, but at this point I will stick to other lines.. The entertainment was okay, we mostly went to the comedy club. We spent time in the casion, it was very crowded and smokey.. I found the service good, everyone was very friendly and helpful. My family and I had 3 balcony cabins (9235, 9231, and 9227) on the Breeze last week that we paid a quite a bit of money for, considering what we typically pay for a balcony on Carnival.  1. Embarkation was a Breeze - no pun intended 2. Food -  I am by no means a "foodie" but I paid a couple days to buy food at the Red Frog Pub and the sushi restaurant for the following reasons. The food quality on the Lido deck was horrible- a sloppy mess of a display and the food looked like something you would "throw out in the yard to feed the farm animals".  The pre-made sandwiches as opposed to the made to order ones of the past was disappointing and even the pizza was mediocre at best on this ship. The dining room basically has the same ole menu for the past 20 years and let's not forget the absolutely tasteless desserts.  3. Internet - no complimentary or at least minute packaged internet service just for airline check in on the last day of the cruise (once again this used to work for me in the past). 4. Entertainment - what happened to the orchestra/band in the main auditorium for major productions? The playlist used in more recent years "waters down" the shows. Comedy is subjective so you'll have to be the judge of that yourself. Shows were typical. 5. Platinum gift - Carnival should be embarrassed to give it's platinum and diamond guests that cheap little lanyard that isn't even as nice as the ones they were selling for $6.95 on embarkation day.  This is by far the cheapest "gift" they have given and although it's a "gift", I would rather they cut it out completely than to receive a dollar store trinket as a thank you for being a loyal customer.  Please, if they can save themselves a few dollars by not insulting guests with something like a sub-par lanyard, just stop this now!  Maybe it's just me and I am being ungrateful but you can't give out relatively decent gifts for years to your platinum and diamond customers who spend thousands of dollars with you, and then switch to a cheap little piece of junk, and expect not to raise a few eyebrows. 6. Serenity deck was nice, nothing special. 7. Ports of Call a. Amber Cove - stayed right in the port are and had a great time. Water slide was fast and fun, Next time I think I'll leave that to the "kids" as it was a bit too much for me lol My family paid $20 for the zip line and did it a couple times. we ordered bottled beverages and I don't think we ordered any food.   b. St. Thomas - had a great day at Coki beach. Rented chairs and umbrellas ($20 for 2 chairs and 1 umbrella). c. San Juan - walked around and shopped in old San Juan. Wanted to see the "umbrella" street but we were told that the umbrellas were taken down as the street was the idea of the wife of the much hated governor. d. Grand Turk - stayed at the pool area at Margaritta ville. It was fun for a while before it turned really "rachet" and seedy with all the twerking and grinding etc. going on. It was definitely not a kid friendly scene and there were plenty of kids there to which some of the "adults" who thought they were in a strip club, totally ignored. 8. On the plus side, our cabin steward, Brian and guest services manager, Mirella were both, accommodating, helpful and very professional.  Kudos to them. 9. Debarkation was a Breeze as well. Now for my real complaint!  We paid good money for 3 balcony cabins for this 7 day cruise.  Unfortunately, we lost 2.5 days of balcony use due to maintenance and extremely strong paint smells.  This really amounts to poor planning by the Carnival team and my family and I had to suffer the consequences.  Guest services called us one night and asked if it was OK if they performed some maintenance on our balconies on the next port day.  We agreed to this as we were going to be in port and figured they'd be done by the time we got back on the ship.  Needless to say, that was not the case and we couldn't use the balcony that evening and the next day they were at it again.  It seemed that the first day, they primed the balcony and the next day they did the actual painting.  On the second day of our non-balcony usage, when we got back on the ship, the crew was still on the balcony and when they left, a couple hours later, the paint smell was so strong that we couldn't even open the balcony door for the entire night.  We pay for a balcony so we can enjoy the fresh ocean air and not only do we spend a great deal of time sitting on the balcony ready during the day, we sleep with the door open at night.  We lost precious time enjoying our balconies and I find it really bad business that the only compensation my family and I received (after consistently calling and voicing our concerns) was a free dinner.  If we didn't care about using the balcony, we could have saved quite a bit of money by booking 3 interior cabins instead of 3 balconies.  This is probably the first time in years that I gave a mostly negative review. I always have fun with my family and this cruise didn't change that. These are just my observations and hopefully it will give you a little insight and help you with your planning process. Read Less

I went on a family reunion cruise with 11 of my family members with 3 rooms being balconies and the other three inside cabins. We picked the Breeze for the family vibe and the islands and it was a good trip but Carnival had its ups and downs. Pros The food was very good. We especially liked the dinners in the hall and the specialty burger, bbq and tacos places. The buffet was perfectly acceptable but there could have been a few more to keep the lines down. Nobody got sick from the food so I consider that a good cruise. The drinks were tasty and we enjoyed a couple fish bowls at the Red Frog bar through out the cruise. Lots of booze and worth the money (especially if you go during the half price times). The photographers were excellent and there was a ton of different back drops and places to get our family pictures done. Photos were A+. The $5 onboard app made it very convenient to plan where people wanted to go which would have been a nightmare on past cruises. Cons The pools were terrible! I'm use to a central pool which was the focal point of the boat but on the Breeze you get two tiny pools and a water slide play area. Just way too small pools for the number of people on the ship. Lines - Lines - Lines are everywhere. The dining area is just a madhouse with kids and people everywhere. Just felt cramped and no organization which distracted from being able to relax. Getting around when everyone was on board was just crazy. And don't get me started on how packed the comedy club gets! I typically cruise on Royal and the people on Carnival were just uncouth. Slamming doors, kids running up an down the corridors at night - just a lack of manners compared to what I experienced on Royal. I know this ship is billed as the family boat but I'd not recommend it for anyone who has cruised before just due to the luke warm taste it left in my mouth. Read Less

A little about us. Family of 5, grown kids ages 18,19,23. Been cruising for 25 years. Over 30 cruises. Generally like different aspects of Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian. To be more specific, enjoy the ship amenities of RCCL, we love the Haven experience on NCL and we have always thought Carnival had the best food and service. Unfortunately, this Carnival cruise did not meet with those expectations. I will comment on a few major areas. CABIN: Standard cabin. Basic size. Balcony slightly larger than other lines. Bathroom basic and no concerns. Problem was poor AC. As others have said on Carnival Board, the AC simply does not cool down the room. Furthermore, the standard heavy duvet makes for very warm conditions. Even though my wife does not like our bedroom as cold as I do, she complained of how hot the room was during the day and night. (Note: the duvet would have been great had this been a winter escape to the Rockies). Mattress also did not seem to have as much support as on previous ships. Pillows were older, inconsistent and offered limited cushion FOOD: Chef's Table was very good. A- grade. Superb service, variety of foods that we would not usually order including Quail and Veal. Was a little disappointed with the wine offering which was Layer Cake Cab. On RCCL, there are 5 different wines served usually with Caymus with tenderloin for last course. Cucina del Capitano: C grade. We had mediocre service. Food was OK. Better than dining room, but just OK. Slightly better than Olive Garden. Only $15 per person. But probably would not spend extra for this quality of food. Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse: A- grade. Great service. Food very good. Steak quality good....perhaps not to quality of Ruth's Chris or other national steakhouses, but definitely much better than Outback and Longhorn as others have commented. BIG HINT.....on the first night, they offer a free bottle of wine with dinner. Do not get this...instead take advantage of the 50% off any bottle deal. We enjoyed 2 bottles of Caymus at half price. And I would note that wine prices all of the ship were very reasonable and much better than RCCL. Caymus was priced at $90 per bottle....it is ~$130 on RCCL. So we had 2 bottles of our favorite wine for $90 on the first night. Main Dining Room: Service was good, although it seemed poorly organized. More importantly, the food quality was just not good. As stated in intro, we have always thought main dining room food on Carnival was much better than competitors. No longer the case. Plenty of tasty appetizer options, but some did not live up to expectations. On the other hand, there weren't that many dessert options. Melting Chocolate Cake is often the only good option. Entrees were so-so most of the time. Lunch Options: Awesome....Guy's burgers, Pizza, Mexican buffet, and BBQ. All awesome. ENTERTAINMENT: This is by far our biggest complaint. At a time when competitors are providing plenty of entertainment options including 90 minute Broadway shows, Carnival continues to offer the 40 minute song and dance deal with taped music and cruise ship dancers. 3 different shows. Same thing each time. Very similar to the shows of the 1990's before everyone else stepped up their game. The only good entertainment was the comedy venue which is larger and better than RCCL. Good performances. SO....at night, the only good options are the comedy club and the casino. Perhaps that is what Carnival is looking for. MISCELLANEOUS: We didn't really sense that most of the staff was happy. Service was adequate, but not usually friendly. CRUISE DIRECTOR continued to make announcements that were unnecessary. Average of 6 public announcements throughout the ship each day. Some were really poorly timed including a Wake up on Sea Day at 9:30 to tell us Shops are open. Excuse me.....folks are sleeping. Another notable message was to announce in cabins that there would be an emergency drill at 9am on a port day. Some people were not going to shore and were sleeping. There was no reason to wake folks up to tell them there was a drill going on. Loud younger teens running through the hallways from 11p-2a. No supervision and security would not answer the phone So, all in all, we will likely not travel with Carnival again. Carnival cruise prices are often a little lower than competitors. But that price difference is definitely seen in total experience. Food quality no longer superior and more importantly, entertainment options in evening are severely lacking. Read Less

The did have stuff to do. Most of the ports were beautiful. Some of the staff was awesome, some were obviously disgruntled. We actually witnessed servers arguing on the floor on multiple occasions. My biggest complaint however is the fact that your food is supposed to be included. However after an excursion, you come back hungry and only two places that were included were open. So unless you wanna spend more money at one of the other places, your choices were burgers (I am a vegetarian, but I did like their fries) and pizza. So you and the other 4,000 people on the ship have these choices. Imagine the lines. And everyone is hangry. The cruise did have its benefits. There were plenty of hot tubs placed through out the boat so you could get away from the crowds. They had multiple excursions to choose from and our room Stewart was amazing. But if food is important to you, choose another cruise line. Read Less

I recently took my last cruise on a Carnival cruise ship. I was hoping that Carnival would wow me with a Fun experience that blew me away... but that didn't happen. Don't get me wrong, I was on a cruise ship sailing to amazing locations so I made my own fun and had a great time. No sour grapes here... just the reality that Carnival is not for me. The ship in general rocked and rolled more that any other ship I've been on before and the seas/winds did not correlate with the amount of movement. The Motown show was switched to just singing due to the motion; the exterior of decks 12 and 14 were closed for good portions of three of the days. Imagine a Sea Day on a Spring Break cruise where the slides, basketball courts, Serenity deck, and main Lido pool were closed until late afternoon. I saw one picture posted where there were no-joke 21 kids in one hot tub. I couldn't help but wonder how many used it for a toilet while they were all in there. Gross!!! Embarkation was delayed for no apparent reason. FTTF did not board until 12:20pm, which is later than many have stated for previous cruises. If you are booking Carnival, either pay for FTTF or plan to board the ship after 1:30pm. Things get a little crazy between 12:30 and 1:30 with 3000 people and all the luggage stewards moving around. If you do board early, avoid the Lido buffet- head to either Guy's Pig & Anchor on Deck 5, Guy's Burgers on 10, or the Italian place at the back on 11. We ate in the MDR every night... food was average at best and service was slow. What bothered me the most was the inconsistency with the meat preparation. For example I ordered a Pork Loin one night at the recommendation of the server. It was cut into three pieces. The first piece was so dry I could not eat it... the second piece was dry but I could eat it with a dose of milk to wash it down, and the third piece was great. Similar things happened with steak, prime rib, and fish orders... two people at the same table getting the same menu item but the preparation like it was from a different kitchen. Also, I love cheese cake. It was available on one night only the entire cruise. And the stuff that Carnival calls "cheese cake" that is served at the Lido buffet is actually just regular cake with bland taste and maybe something like cheese cake in the middle. MDR was slow for breakfast and dinner. The Lido buffet was ridiculous... the only time I ate there was to try the new desserts that as mentioned previously were OK and inconsistent. Otherwise the lines were stupid long... not worth the wait for mediocre food selection. Plus other good options like Guy's and the burrito place. Speaking of Guy Fieri... The two Guy's joints are the best things about a Carnival Breeze cruise if you don't want to pay extra for food. Followed by lunch in the Italian restaurant The entertainment was below par compared to other cruise lines. For the main shows, there was one exceptional singer/performer and then several others that were at the high school level. Motown could have been good but they could not do the entire show due to the rocking boat; the Cowboy show was horrible and poorly directed; the Flick had great effects but I'm not really sure I got the point; the 88 Keys was the best show because it featured the only real performer in the cast and it covered several well-known songs. Of course, the Love & Marriage was funny but that is because it is "performed" by regular people being asked fun questions that most married people can relate to. The comedians were good, but as others have mentioned get unnecessarily raunchy just to make their shows R-rated. The same content could have been presented without the crude language and been just as funny. I personally went to Cowboy Bill and Just June. I think the CD Donkey tried too hard to be funny. I know others like him and I get it, but for me he was OK. His Quest show was at a JV level compared to the Quest shows I've been part of on other lines. Again, for me "Raunchy" and "Fun" are not the same thing. Ports: Amber Cove - A Carnival only port that they've done a nice job of developing to meet their needs. I am 6'4 and "big-boned" so I was not able to partake in the sliding or zip-lining, but those that did said it was fun. Sliding is free, zip-lining at the port cost $20 US. No excursion booked. St Thomas - We booked the Turtle Cove Sail & Snorkel With Open Bar through Carnival. I gave it a 4 out of 5 rating... it was a great day for a sail and the crew made for a fun adventure. According to the crew members, hurricanes and climate change have wiped out a good amount of the coral life in Turtle Cove and other areas of St Thomas which has affected the turtle and fish population. You will still see all of it, but at a rate of half the population compared to just a few years ago. San Juan - We followed the Walking Tour: Historic Old San Juan posted on thejellybeans.net - it was a great way to see Old San Juan for FREE. Check it out for yourself. After that we shopped and made some purchases from the local merchants. Grand Turk - Jack's Shack is as advertised. A great getaway from the Margaritaville crowds with great prices, excellent food, and generously poured drinks. Plus the dogs, the beach, and the beautiful water. It is worth the short walk down the beach from the pier. Disembarkation was pretty smooth... off the ship by 7:15am and on the way back to reality. As mentioned I will not be on an Carnival cruise again. I prefer the better quality food and higher-caliber shows offered with other lines compared to the cheaper prices and raunchy fun available on Carnival. This is not a bash on Carnival. I was on vacation... I had fun... I am not complaining... I am being as honest as possible and in all honesty I was not impressed. Read Less

We chose this ship for location and departure date. Luckily we had 4 stops so that made the ship more bearable. You can only go down the slides so many times. The kids club was ok. The best food was all of Guy's stops. The Pig and Anchor was not open every day and for lunch only. The pizza and deli would be lifesavers when burgers and tacos were closed. Amber Cove was a nice stop with the pool as we disembarked. We have visited San Juan numerous times so we like to go and visit the cat shelter there near the fort. Grand Turk was another reason for this ship and it was a huge disappointment. We did a beach excursion and a huge waste of money. The service was incredibly slow, I went to find my own beach umbrella. The food included in the buffet was terrible. There is a nice pool/beach area as soon as you get off the ship (free). St. Thomas was a nice visit as well. This cruise served the purpose of date/itinerary. Carnival is our least favorite cruise line - we love Disney and Royal Caribbean. Read Less

I would say that this ship describes a typical Carnival Ship. Nothing was beyond amazing and nothing was terrible. It was an overall normal cruise. The food was okay. Honestly, this was the first time I at the buffet more than sit down. The buffet was honestly ten times better than the formal dining rooms. The ship- Normal Carnival design. There are 4 hot tubs on deck 5 on the side, which tended to be not busy. The main pool does not have any hot tubs and only a small pool. The pool in the back was great. Cabin- Normal size cabin, we had the balcony room. Entertainment- Exactly like every other ship. There was nothing unique and it mimics every other Carnival ship. Ports and Excursions- Beliz- the cave tubing was fun. The other ports we found our own excursions that were more cost effective. We went to Mr. Sancho's in Cozumel and did a private tour in Roatan. Traveled with a group of adult family members. Embarkation at Canaveral was very efficient. Staff on board were very friendly and helpful. Grand Turks and Puerto Rico were great ports. Amber Cove and St. Thomas were okay. Definitely visit Jack’s Shack in Grand Turks. Worth the walk. Explored the forts in Old San Juan PR which was really enjoyable and has some great views. Food on board was okay. Marketplace buffet on the Lido deck did not seem to have as many options as I’ve seen on other ships and the lines were always very long. Burgers were good, but again the line was always long. It was nearly impossible to get a chair up on deck to lay in the sun and bar service on deck was hit or miss. Ordered a few drinks that we never even got. Serenity area was always packed too so we could never get chairs together. Biggest complaint was that our cabin (deck 1) was directly over the crew lounge. Every night the staff had what sounded like very loud parties. We could hear yelling and very loud music from about midnight until 2-3 am. This made it impossible to sleep. We called multiple times to complain and they did eventually turn the music down but we could still hear the yelling and partying. We talked to guest services who did offer to move us mid week but all of our family was near us on deck 1 and we didn’t want to move away from them plus we had already been unpacked and settled in our room. My suggestion would be to avoid the even number cabins on deck one to hopefully avoid this noise. Read Less

This is our fourth cruise on Carnival and until this last cruise we've been VERY satisfied. We took our two daughters with us to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary, and my sister and her husband surprised us and sailed with us as well. We all had Balcony cabins, but the cabins looked VERY used. Given the price difference, I had expected better quality accommodations. We booked early enough to secure the early dinner seating, but were told that they were sold out. When my sister and her husband attempted to get late seating so that we could dine together, they were told maybe tomorrow. We all ate at the buffet. The food in the Main dining room was very good, and our waiters were WONDERFUL. The buffet, however, was TERRIBLE. It was like eating at the "FREE buffet at Circus, Circus in Reno at midnight." We tried the Sushi Restaurant one night but were disappointed. They do not have Soy Wraps and have a very limited selection. My daughter ordered Chocolate covered strawberries and Champagne for our Anniversary, but the Strawberry stems were wilted and they looked very old. The entertainment was really awful, with the exception of the comedian, Eddie Clark, who was completely entertaining and wonderful. I had bragged about the wonderful entertainment on Carnival ships, but ate a little crow on that one... The embarkation and debarkation were handled very well. I love to give great reviews, but believe in being honest. I would never recommend cruising Carnival again until they get back to focusing on fun AND quality food, entertainment, etc. Read Less

I picked this cruise because the dates worked and I liked the ports. Overall we had a fantastic holiday. Check in was smooth and quick. Unfortunately they lost one of my hubbys luggage tags so the bag stayed at customer service. It was with many other bags in a wide open area where anyone could remove it. Which is what my husband did without a blink of an eye from the desk. This needs to improve. The food was quite good. One evening supper the service was terrible and my steak was very tough. The server was very nice and apologized indicating they were really short staffed. They also sat two loud young adult men right beside us which ruined our experience that night. Other than that one night, the service and food was excellent! Adult comedy was great as well. My biggest complaint and why I won’t return to this ship and probably not to Carnival was the terrible sewer smell aft deck 6 where our room was located. We propped open deck and hallway door when there to reduce odor. It also smelt terrible by the aft pool. We complained several times and they went a customer rep each time. The rep said no smell and basically called us liars even though we later saw several reviews about this is odor. He odor was less when they came to visit because we had doors open. When we would return to room after port or pool day, it was almost intolerable. Someone was working on venting system day 5 and miraculously the odor leasened significantly. Our issue is with the rep each time saying notthibg was wrong. Even our steward acknowledged the issue and apologized, not that it was his fault. Do not book aft deck 6 on the breeze. There was no odor mid to front. Not sure about other floors but it was significant by aft pool as well. This certainly didn’t ruin our holiday as we spent most time away from room. However it taints my once high opinion of Carnival Cruise. Read Less

Embarkation was really easy. My key and bags were at my cabin at noon so I was a happy camper. The staff was amazing. Several staff that I had met on previous cruises. Cruise director Donkey was super funny and was always out partying with the guests. I had anytime dining which was fine but I rarely ate at the MDR. I was disappointed that as a platinum cruiser, I was not given priority reservations as advertised. I ended up having dinner at the sushi place one night, the italian place another night, red frog pub one night and the chefs table one night. The service and the food were all amazing at these places but I still was saddened that I could not get into the steak house. I loved my cabin... almost. I was in 2260 cove balcony. It is right under the shore excursion desk so it was really quiet. I was able to watch dolphins chase the ship almost every morning. Now I know on a seven day cruise, carnival tends to have the balconies cleaned and painted twice. Now while we were in amber cove, it was fine because I was gone on an excursion. I didnt have an excursion in San Juan but I didnt realize that they would be in my room/on the balcony making my room unusable from 9am-3pm. By the time I went back to my room there was a notice from guest services saying they would need to continue to work on my room the next day. I called guest services expressing my concerns and they told me they would postpone the cleaning. We got into grand turk at noon and I went back to my cabin at 2pm and sure enough, they were still in my room. They didnt leave until 6 and then my steward had to clean my room. So in all, I had 3 days that I could not use my balcony room. I will not be getting a balcony room again ever. Amber Cove - La Casa en La Playa. It was AMAZING. There was only about 22 in the group. Great food, great staff, peaceful beach. There were plenty of drink choices and they poured heavy. Gary was even bringing drinks to those swimming in the ocean. I highly recommend this excursion. St. Thomas - I accidentally slept all day on my balcony. I guess I over did it in Amber Cove. San Juan- I tried to take my group on a self guided walking tour but my group crapped out on me. We were back on the ship after an hour. Grand Turk - All Inclusive Private Beach Break - I booked this excursion at the last minute. It was recommended by the cruise director. It wasnt per say crowded but there was not enough staff for the amount of people. It took forever to get umbrellas. My mother who was with me has a hard time getting around. There was no one there able to assist her to get to the chairs or in/out of the bus. The "dj" music had a strange beeping that occurred during the entire time we were there. Your only choice to drink was a sugary rum punch or a light beer. The food was super limited. No fruit, no desserts, no seafood. Grand Turk is known for spiny lobster and fish. We left after an hour. I highly encourage everyone to avoid this place. We had an ashes memorial service on the ship. It was scheduled for the last sea day at 3pm. When we went to guest services, they were unable to find the service on the schedule. It was a very stressful moment trying to calm the family down and await for further instructions. In the end, it was figured out and it was a beautiful moment as we sent our friend out to sea. I hope the book that carnival made for the family came out well. The spa was nice and the upsell was annoying as always. Debarkation was absolutely painless. I will not be going on the Breeze again. I just felt like I was constantly standing in line. There was so much live music on the ship, it was impossible to find a quiet place to enjoy a drink. Read Less

The dining room service the first night was horrible.. we asked to be moved the next night and it was some better. The ship itself wasn't as clean as I am used to seeing. The crew didn't seem as friendly or helpful. Bar staff was fair. Donkey the cruise director was AWESOME. The entertainment and games were good. Shore excursions were good. We always seemed to have problems finding something to drink in the Lido dining except for water. The machines were either broke or out. The food was good overall. The service in the Steakhouse was good. The casino (one of my favorite parts of a cruise) was EXTREMELY smoking and was very crowded. All the shops and open areas on deck 5 around and near the casino was very smoky. Embarkation was a breeze (No pun intended). I loved Puerto Rico and Grand Turk. Read Less

I selected this cruise because I was interested in visiting the ports that it was stopping at. The food was just okay. I was so looking forward to some very delicious food and found that overall in the dining room and the buffet fell short of my expectations. Would recommend Guy’s Burger place, the Blue Iguana and the Pizza Place was also alright. The few desserts on the ship that were good was the melting chocolate cake and the creame brûlée available in the dining room and the ice cream available at numerous spots on the ship. Every other dessert that we tried was not worth eating... apparently we weren’t the only people that felt this way as there were less than half eaten desserts left everywhere. We also purchased a few desserts from the coffee shop and they were also very disappointing (strawberry cheesecake and the black cake). Some of the entertainment was good (Piano Bar - Patrick Duffy, all the entertainment on the stage near the coffee shop, jazz trio and violin players). Also enjoyed the game shows in the Ovation Theatre. The Motown and Country Roads shows in the Ovation Theatre were terrible. Was really looking forward to some talented Motown entertainment... what a disappointment. Assuming that the Rock n Roll night would be the same cast we didn’t want to put ourselves through that again! The Carnival staff looking after the Staterooms and and working throughout the ship were top notch. Such hard working, friendly and obliging people. They made each and every day special, what a blessing they are. Embarking and disembarking went quite well. I believe that the system that Carnival has in place is effective however there seems to be a certain set of folks that resist following instructions in spite of the very clear communication. I understand that It is difficult for Carnival as they are trying to balance maintaining a process without offending patrons for fear that they won’t return for a future cruises but I think they should simply send people back who attempt disembarkment before they’re floor is called. Overall, I think I would try a different cruise line next time but won’t say that I wouldn’t travel with Carnival again. Read Less

Chose because it was a gambling cruise. Cabin was filthy I took pictures of the layer of dust above the vanity mirror. Long lines for dining room for breakfast. Also with anytime dining very long dinner lines 15 minutes after the doors opened. Food was nothing to write home about. Nothing outstanding or exceptional. A couple of nights we didn’t eat the food. We had rain the week of Jan 12th and more should have been done since the ports were rained out. Social director Donkey is great and hands on. All the shows were their own singers and dancers. Would have liked if they had some outside entertainment. The adult comedy is held in a small lounge so get there an hour early if you want a seat. The piano bar is fun but it also gets tiring going there every night. Getting on and off was easy as I am platinum. Bar service in the casino was non existent. Overall very disappointed!!!! Read Less

Well, let’s start from the beginning. The debarktion process was smooth. It seemed to be organized and my room was done quite early. I must say, I was expecting the ship to be cleaner and a little nicer. I know the ship is older but a little white paint can go a long way. The lobby area had lanterns hanging from the ceiling which had stains all over them. My bathroom shower was cracked. The ship was more run down than I would have liked to see. I’ve been on Norwegian and Disney cruises and this ship was NOTHING in comparison to those ships. The food was okay. What made our dining experience amazing was one special waitress! Her name was Irvina. She was lovely. She went above and beyond for us every night. Her smile and warmth made us feel like we were at home. The girls at the coffee shop were also just as lovely. They always had a smile on their face and by the end of the cruise they new my fiancé’s order by heart. Our room Stewart Heru was extremely accommodating. We had family members who came down with a cold on this cruise. They were stuck in their cabins for a few days. Heru, did everything he could to make sure they were comfortable and had everything they needed. Overall, the cruise staff were great. The entertainment was awesome. Donkey our cruise director was hilarious. The casino was a huge hit. It was large and we did very well there. However, there is only one computerized poker table. My fiancé loves poker. He was quite disappointed with the computerized table. It didn’t stop him from playing, but he did say he would have rather had a dealer. One of the biggest downfalls on this cruise was the drink package. First of all, my finance has MS and he is a hemophiliac. He is not allowed to drink. We were not able to submit a medical note to excuse him of purchasing the drink package. Since we were sharing the cabin and are both over the age of 21 we had to purchase the drink package if one of us wanted it. Which I found to be quite unfair. I understand why Carnival is strict with this policy however, my family and I chose Carnival because it was cheaper than Norwegian (who has an unlimited drink package including soda). So the drink package cost me an extra $860. Then to top it off I couldn’t order an extra shot on top of my pina colada or a double on my Tito’s and vodka. They literally measured out one shot per drink. They limit you to 15 drinks a day. Which seems a lot. However, if you wanted an extra shot that went toward one of your 15 drinks. Furthermore, if you wanted an extra shot in your drink you needed to wait 5 minutes and you could go back with your drink for them to add the extra shot. It was just extremely inconvenient. If I would have known that I was going to pay all this extra money and have this much of a hassle to have a decent drink on my vacation I would have chose to go back on a Norwegian ship in a heart beat. The ships are cleaner and there is NO drink minimum and they aren’t skimpy in pouring their drinks. Another thing that stumped me was my brother who didn’t have a drink package was able to pay 3 dollars extra to have extra alcohol added to his drink. When I asked the bar tender if I could just pay the difference I was told no because I had the Cheers package. It didn’t make any sense. When I expressed my frustration to the bar tender he tried to say its a safety issue. I didn’t understand and asked him to elaborate what he meant by a safety issue. He said they limit the cheers packages to 15 drinks per day because that is a lot of alcohol. So my answer back was but if I was to never have the drink package and pay per drink I could easily purchase over 15 drinks per day and nobody would ever know? So how is this a safety issue? Plus, I didn’t care if they deducted an extra drink for an extra shot in my drink. I wanted to actually have more than a tbsp of alcohol in my drink. This may make me sound like an alcoholic which I am NOT by any means. I didn’t reach my 15 day drink minimum any day I was on the cruise. It just was inconvenient the way they have this package set up. The second WORST part of this trip was a disturbing night that was inexcusable. At about 12:30 one night my fiancé and I woke up to what sounded like a air compressor going off right under our cabin. It was horribly loud. So horribly loud that multiple guest around us went onto their balcony looking around. We were all upset and didn’t understand what this noise could be and the time it was. My fiancé called guest services and they apologized and assured him it would stop. About an hour later the noise continued. I called guest services and was notified that they were doing construction and they were unaware that this outside company would be doing Maintnence until 9:00am. Mind you, it was around 1:45 when I called. I was furious. My fiancé was sick. He had caught a cold. Therefore, while not feeling well and hearing this awful sound all night on your vacation was far from enjoyable. The next day I got a call from guest services. They gave me a bottle of wine, cookies, and apologized. They told me that the construction would occur again that day from 6pm-7pm. I cannot wrap my head around how they thought it was okay to make that much noise in the middle of the night. One of the guest a few doors down from us mentioned the noise to us the next day while we were in the elevator. She had two little girls with her and she said they were all up all night due to the noise. It left a horrible taste in my mouth about Carnival cruises. As far as our ports that were stopped at they were all great. A few tips...if you are going to St. Thomas Magen’s Bay gets crowded very quickly. Try to get off the boat early! By the time we got there we were unable to rent chairs. They had no more. Which wasn’t a problem for us but I know some people surrounding us weren’t too happy. At Dominican Republic we went to a local beach. It was gorgeous. I didn’t feel as unsafe as I expected to at this port. I went to Punta Cana in the past and it wasn’t the safest area. At amber cove it seemed to be cleaner, safer and more developed. Puerto Rico, we enjoyed waking around the forts, we ate at an authentic restaurant and did some shopping. At Grand Turk you NEED to get off the boat early if you want a spot close to the water on the beach. The beach is located right off the port. It is gorgeous. It does get crowded quickly! We rented a golf cart off the port for 50 dollars for the day and explored the island. It’s safe. I wouldn’t advise you to go if you are a bunch of 18 year old girls but as a family we had a good time. We literally rode the entire island. Ate at a local restaurant. It is an impoverished country. Stray and and malnourished dogs, horses, and donkeys were everywhere. If you are an animal lover like me, next time I will be bringing dog treats with me. Overall, Carnivals cleanliness, noise distruption and drink package was really a turn off. Read Less

I got me and Michelle an extended balcony for this cruise, I was not thrilled with it, maybe it was the weather, maybe it was because it was on deck 7, but I'll not be spending the money to do that again. When we sat out there, (not very often), we only used maybe a quarter of the balcony we had available to us. On the other hand, the cabin layout was very nice, seemed a bit smaller than the normal balcony cabin, but we liked the cabin none the less. The food... I thought the food was great! We generally ate breakfast at the breakfast buritto place at around 7-7:30am, no line at all, or, we would get an omlet, at around the same time, no line. Lunch... don't think I ever ate lunch on ship, or don't remember it anyway. Supper... Dinning room was very good, I actually enjoyed the lobster on this cruise! usually I'm disappointed with cruise lobster, not this time! And I liked the fact that they had the dress up lobster dinner early on in the cruise, maybe that's why the lobster seemed better. The ship... The ship was ok, but it lacks the bling, or fancyness of other Carnival ships, like the Valor, or even the Legend.. It was like a 70's kinda boring decor. Service... We got on the ship without any lines at all, that was fantastic! Our bags got to our room early. Even getting off the ship was pretty smooth, maybe it was just because Port Canaviral is set up better, but whatever, no hassle getting on or off. One complaint... The crew does not stop people from sending their kids up at 7am to reserve all of the best deck chairs by throwing a towel over them. I saw people throw a towel over lounge chairs at 7am, and still not be in the chair by 8am or later.. Didn't really effect us, but annoying non the less. Second complaint... Smoking. Carnival needs to figure out their smoking policy! On this cruise, you could be sitting in a no smoking area, yet have a smoking area just forward of you a ways, and you'd get smoked out anyways, my suggestion would be to make one side of the ship smoking and the other non smoking.. The mish mash way they are doing it now makes no sense, the entire ship might as well still be smoking. Read Less

Very, very disappointed in the overall entertainment value of this cruise. We are Carnvial Platnium Members, and have sailed with Carnival many times. This is the absolute worst when it came to shows. We actually got up and left two shows due to the quality. Everything was so fake (singing/playing guitars/piano, etc), it was just horrible. Normally love the Comedy Shows too, but the comedian we saw on this cruise was terrible. He went around the room and asked people what they did for a living, then tried to make fun of them - it just didn't work. It was like he just showed up with no idea of what he was going to do. Also, love Trivia - it just seemed like the major trivia events were scheduled while people were getting ready to go ashore, gone ashore, or during meal hours. This was our first cruise where we didn't participate in one trivia event. The New Years Eve Party was fun (this was our third year doing New Year's Eve at sea). Our dinning experience left a lot to be desired too. Food was very blah, and not just a meal or two. Also was really looking forward to the Guy Ferirra BBQ Joint onboard - our entire party thought it had ZERO taste, and speaking of Guy Feirra, the burgers were exceptionally salty this trip too. Again, not sure what's up with the food, but I would only give it one star this trip. On the other hand, the staff onboard the ship were great, everyone was very positive and pretty much made the trip a little better. Embarkation/Debarkation was very easy. We loved the new process. We enjoy cruising on Carnival, but would not do the Breeze again. Read Less

We have been on the Breeze before and it was wonderful. This time there were parts of the trip that were good, and others that were...well horrible. We took our first New Years Eve Cruise. Embarkation is easy as we are platinum. Cabin was okay except for all the rust on the balcony. Issues are with dining room food. Selections were poor and food not very good. Our New Years Eve "special menu" was horrible. There were nights on this cruise that only 1 dessert option was offered. Dining room staff were great. Cruise Director "Donkey" was terrific. Shows were just ok. Comedians were good. Avoid Magens Bay as is too crowded in St Thomas. Do the Sky Ride to Paradise Point. Do the ATV at the Hacienda in PR...they were wonderful. This was a terrific excursion. Honestly the food was so bad in the dining room that this has tainted my entire review. Guys Burgers great, Guys BBQ great, Burrito Bar always great. Lido buffet just okay. Read Less

We Choose this cruise because the ship write up said the ship was upgraded, not sure where. The ship looked worn and not maintained well. Very hard to get around because isle ways were very narrow. Service and crew were good and they worked hard. Food....subpar. Food menu was limited even in the upgraded restaurants. Trying a different cruise line in March since we were so disappointed in the general ship appearance and food. If your traveling with a family and children they seem to have things for the kids to do. Entertainment just so so. The piano bar, OMG get rid of that guy. That was not just our opinion but the opinion of all those in the bar that night. This was our 6th cruise with Carnival and saw nice reviews from people about this ship, but we have done over 25 cruises, and was very disappointed on this ship and food. Ports were good and why we picked the cruise. Read Less

My honest review of this ship, with the good, bad and the ugly. Embarkation: We flew in the night before and booked through GoPortCanaveral for our Hotel and Shuttle service. HIGHLY recommend this service. Our shuttle dropped us off to the Port at about 11 am. We waited a little while for embarking, as they said they had trouble getting the prior passengers off ship. More on this later. The Ship: Kids - The kids splash pad area and water slides were great. The kids club was packed every single day, with parents just dumping their kids off for the entire day. (The club will keep your kids, and feed them lunch and dinner, all day. I dont really understand the point of taking a family trip if you're doing that, but...) The staff there were excellent, and our kids liked them, but the other children were, for the most part, a little boisterous, and poorly mannered. Our kids had trouble making any friends at all, and chose to simply not return to the club. This made finding things for them to do, other than the splash pad, a little difficult. The Sports square looked like a good option, but it was also jammed with families, and unattended kids, making it hard to utilize without getting run off the golf course by kids who don't know how to wait their turn. Our 2 youngest were too small for the ropes course, but it looked awesome! Our oldest loved the SkyCourt (Basketball) and pools, and spent most of his time there with his new cruise friends. There were many areas of the ship we never got the chance to even visit, because of the smoking areas. It seems like the Breeze works to accommodate smokers, rather than make them the exception. I would have loved to visit the Alchemy bar, or utilize the comfy chairs for the Dive In Movies, but they all reeked, and with severe asthma and 3 kids, it wasn't even an option. The entire casino was almost unbearable, and having to walk directly through it to go from one area of Deck 5 to the next was a design flaw I think. Even to get to the splash pad, you are forced to walk through smoke. Gross. Our family liked the Thrill Theatre, the couple shows we saw were ok, and the Lip Sync Battle was hilarious. We saw one of the PG Comedy Shows, and it was funny. The Dive In Movies were a great option for night time. The entertainment staff on board (CD was Donkey, and he did a great job) were all super friendly and fun. The Food: We utilized the open seating breakfast each day, and did both of the Sea Day Brunches. Good food, good service. Worth the short wait. Lido was limited, and food was just ok. MDR service was great, food was ok. We went back for the experience of the staff, not the food, let's just say that. The best included dining options on board are, by far, the Blue Iguana and Guys Burgers. Both are worth any wait! Disappointed that the Tandoori was replaced with an extra charge seafood place, when there are already seafood options on board. All the kids enjoyed the Self Serve Ice Cream stations :) Disembarkation: A Hot Mess. We chose to self "express" debark, as we had an airport shuttle to catch at 10 am. Our Deck wasn't even called until almost 11, and the crowded, confused and ridiculous lines to wait in just to get to Deck 3 at that point were insane. Thankfully, the shuttle waited for us, but it took so long waiting for all their other passengers to disembark as well, it caused us to miss our flight (we should have had plenty of time, with an after 1pm flight). We instead had to take a connecting flight instead of a non stop, and didn't get home until after 2 am. With 3 kids who had been up early that morning to "express debark", it made for a very long day. In Summary: We get what we pay for. We got a great price for this family cruise, and didn't expect luxury standards by any means. The food is what we expected, the kids options were decent, entertainment staff were fun. But the amount of smokers and smoking areas, as well as the disembarkation mess left something to be desired. Read Less

This was an anniversary/birthday cruise for my wife and I. We have been cruising since 2003 with Carnival, and have always had a great time until this last trip. First off, the ship was crowded, with lots of extended families and kids (which was strange to me since it was the first week in December and school was not out for the holidays). Encountered a lot more people than usual who did not have any etiquette in public (especially in food lines and public areas). Our room steward and the cruise entertainment director were great, as were the bartenders at the Atrium lounge. The staff in the jewelry store were extremely pushy while we were just looking (which is a big turn-off for me), and a lot of the buffet staff were not personable at all. And forget about going to the disco after 11:30 unless your into "Trap" and "Mumble" rap music. The one night we did go we arrived at 1030. The DJ was playing 80's and 90's dance music, and the club was hoping. Then at 11:30 the music and the atmosphere changed so we quickly left. The last issue really caught me by surprise. When we arrived back at our room on the last night, tour itemized sail and sign card statement was in the door box. I reviewed it and everything was correct, so I put it in my bag. The next morning we ate breakfast and then self-disembarked from the ship. My Visa card was charged an additional $22 dollars x 2 on the last morning, which I did not find out until several days later when checking my credit card statement and saw the additional charges (which had posted and already been paid two days prior). I requested an itemized statement from Carnival, and when I received it there were two $22 charges described as robes/towels/books. When my wife called Carnival to inquire about these charges, they stated it was for 2 pool towels. My wife and I are both retired cops, and have never taken anything from a cruise ship, much less 2 pool towels. I disputed the charges with Chase, and as of today I received a reply starting that they investigated the issue, and that Carnival stated they supplied a service or product, so Chase is not going to take the charges off. How do you dispute such as charge when there is no way to prove we did not take the towels. The 2 pool towels were left in the room folded up on the little stool by the desk when we left the last morning. I hope Carnival is happy with the additional $44 dollars l they got from me, because it will certainly be the LAST TIME I cruise with Carnival. This was the final straw in a vacation that should have been awesome, but came up way short. Beware when you leave that you take a picture with your phone of what is left in your room when you leave. The ship was nice, we had an OS (7276). Our cabin steward, I Made was great. Embarkation was a little slow considering we had priority suite privilege. People were packed in the terminal and there were no seats in the priority waiting area. The food was OK but nothing great. Lots of breaded, fried food offerings. The service in the main dining room was slow. We spent 2-21/2 hrs each night. They really weren't that busy. Had problems getting a beverage (unless it was booze). Our orders were messed up a couple of times. The entertainment was pretty good. Enjoyed the comedy club and the violin trio that performed at the afternoon tea and in the lobby area. Very good. The beverage service in the casino was very poor. Ordered from 3 different servers hoping one of them would show up with my drink. Waited anywhere from 20 minutes to 1/2 hr to get drink. The ashtrays were always overflowing and empty drink glasses everywhere, they just didn't clean stuff up. Did the cultural, museum tour in Amber Cove. Spent a lot of time standing around waiting for the tour guide to get things moving. He took us to a tiny shop where he was pushing jewelry and other trinkets. Literally spent 50 minutes there. When we finally got to the fort we had 10 minutes to explore because we were so far behind schedule. We were late getting back to the ship. Debarkation was a nightmare. They called zones 12345 at the same time. Very difficult to get an elevator to the 3rd deck and when we got there we couldn't get off the elevator because it was so packed with people. Stood in the doorway of the elevator about 10 minutes before we could squeeze out into the crowd. Very disorganized. I could go but I think you get the drift. Read Less

Embarkation, smooth, easy, peaceful. Disembarkation was a mess, we were asked to change sides of the ovation theater 3 times. We told them to figure it out, and then tell us what they decided. Our letter said one place, the man in charge another and the lady sent the 4 of us across the room, all with our bags and 3 suitcases. The main entrees were good but anyone with teeth problems would like the potatoes and vegetables cooked not almost raw. At one point we were about 30 in line to get into the dining room, just maybe they need two hostesses to get people seated, when we left same long line waiting. People don't like to wait in lines especially elderly with bad knees and people with small children. Then you can't tell who is in line for the dining room and who is waiting on an elevator. This was our 9th cruise so it had been a step down from past cruises. I would recommend different color carpets on the odd hall way and the even hallway. There are signs facing the stairs, but none as you leave the elevators. Ports and excursions were interesting, fun but there need to be more golf carts available for those who are walking with canes or artificial hips. Cabin, bathrooms, beds, deck all wonderful no complain, the rooms were clean and well attended. The restrooms near the restaurant had stalls with doors 3 inches from the toilet seat. One other big disappointment, the shows, it was artificial pianos and guitars and lip sinc to the songs. The country was not distinguishable from the pop songs. So disappointing, the activities for kids was the best, the snacks and movies and the excursions were well enjoyed by our teens. Read Less
