My wife and I love to cruise with Carnival and we love being upgraded on each cruise. But now we know not to book in December coming out of Galveston Tx. Due to the fog we lost a whole day in Belize (cancelled) and very short time at the other ports. The on-board activities and entertainment kept us busy though, (Do the Bingo and Casino), also Casino not open while ship is still docked in Galveston. Hats off to the service desk when reimbursing all the excursions to the Belize, customers didn't seem too upset. Our porter was the best, anything we needed he got for us, and checked with us personally about what time we wanted our rooms clean. This ship the Breeze has a lot of activities for children, from board games to water slides (5 starts on the water slide). Grab the family or significant other for a late night movie and popcorn in the Lido Deck. Read Less

We've always cruised on Carnival for the variety of activities for both adults and children. The Tides pool at the rear of the ship is usually for adults, it was not on the Breeze. Yes, there's Serenity for adults, but those are hot tubs, no pool. Several adults were more than irritated at 1-Tides was not adult only and 2-the very disruptive children at the pool without parents. I was surprised (maybe not) at the number of adults who left the area. Lost revenue for the bar and future cruisers...maybe Carnival will reinstate the "adult only" pool. While this may seem "petty", that's where we relax, and spend our time and money. Our cruise in September, as well as this cruise, seemed pretty "low-staffed" in the dining rooms. I feel sorry for the dining room crew. Seems like that staff was cut drastically. Our dining time was at 6:00. I think the earliest we got out was 7:30. Great comedians and family shows. Carnival has given us enough reasons to look at other cruise lines. Read Less

Door latch was falling off,so had to keep tighten it with my finger nails so door would lock. Bisciuts and gravy were the worst ive had in my 67 years. Fried chicken over cooked and dried out to the point it was bittle . Ill criuse director thought he was funny, most i spoke with was a different opinion. Bingo was a waste of money for the return. The comidy club was good. The cat in the hat election was laim. Over all i was so disappointed in the criuse. People were confined to quarter because of sickness. My husband and I have been on a lot of different Carnival ships - from small to large, old to new. However, this was our first time cruising out of Galveston. Ship: The Breeze itself is a nice ship. We stayed in a spa balcony cabin which was very nice. I loved the muted colors and decor. And, I enjoyed the spa perks. Embarkation: The terminal was crowded and loud and embarkation did not start until around noon. Once we got on the ship, we were able to go straight to our room (as my husband is platinum). Dining: We had the Your Time Dining option. There was never a wait for a table; but the service itself took forever. There were several nights that we sat there for 15-20 minutes before they even took our order. It had been several years since we cruised with Carnival. And, it seemed like the food has gone downhill since then. There were a few good items - I loved the corn meal crusted chicken and the mushroom cream pasta (I forgot the official name). But, we weren't impressed with the menu in general. Entertainment and Activities: They had a ton of trivia, bingo, and other games during the day. We enjoyed the Thrill Theater. But, we had to wait for about 30 minutes while they were fixing it. Evidently, the system goes down when they make overhead announcements. It had broken down the day before we went, as well. Overall, it was just an average cruise. We had a good time; but noticed that the service and food (especially) are not as good as the last time we cruised with Carnival. After this experience, I think we'll start looking around at other cruise lines. Read Less

The Galveston boarding process for us went smoothly. It was not congested as I thought it would be and the lines moved fast and quickly, which means there was enough security staff to scan luggage and get you on board. I was impressed and it increased my anticipation for more good things to come. For the Breeze to be a fairly newer ship, I thought it was older, i.e., chipped painting, soiled floors, leaky public restrooms, stale smell in hallways, broken ironing boards in laundry rooms, rusting, peeling varnish, etc. Our balcony cabin was nice, but not as spacious as I expected and I had a hard time sleeping in the "miniature" bed but by they 3rd night I was able to sleep. There is adequate closet space and the in-room safe was very convenient. The bathroom shower did not have a sliding door to keep water in, but we made do. Loved the idea of Spa robes, but they had a "dewy" smell, were very wrinkled and battered (the replacements too). I have been a long-time cruiser with Royal Caribbean but as a first time cruiser on Carnival, I must say that I wasn't impressed. I had a good time with my fellow cruisers, but my biggest disappointed was with the food selections, choices, extra charges for steak at dinner seating outside of 1st night and the lack of availability of food for late night eating. There's only so much pizza and Guy's burger you can stand in one week. Someone needs to look at menu options and do something about it. The buffet breakfast was fantastic, but was only available on sea days. The Barbeque Pit (I think it's called Big Jimmy's - sea days only!) was horrible. I had been waiting with anticipation when I found out a barbeque place was on board, but greatly disappointed when I tasted the food. I've never had barbeque sauce with no taste. The pulled pork almost made me bring it back up when I bit into it. I am not one who like to waste food, but there was no way I could even begin to stomach anything on my plate out side of the sausage links. I was feeling bad about throwing away my food, but when I looked around at other tables, I noticed the same and took it upon myself to ask others and they all agreed that the food was bland and lacked any taste. In my world, I could tell that the food wasn't cooked with love and care. Our cabin steward (Redi) was fantastic, but other than that, no other service personnel knew anything, i.e., directions, what was going one, where to go, etc. I was truly disappointed when deck hands would walk by and act as if you were not even present. I know it can be challenging sometimes to do customer service while on task, but that the business you're in. It should be that everyone should be made to feel special for the prices we pay. On the last night, a pipe burst in the hallway(we were on deck 12) and it poured like rain (literally) for about 2 hours. This meant the water came into every cabin along the hallway and soaked the floor. Seeing that much water come onto a ship at any time is not a good thing, especially when out at sea. Thankfully, they shop-vac'd the carpet and provided us with a blower. They asked us to leave our rooms while they did this but forgot to include a card in the light slot and the blower was not working when we returned, which means, we had to leave a card in the slot and stay out of the room for some more hours. This happened around 4:00 a.m. in the morning and even though we phoned when it happened, it took several (2-3) hours for anyone to respond and water was literally flooding the entire hallway. We were happy with the credit they provided for any inconveniences, but I do believe the response time should have been immediate (especially since the entire staff is already on board). Entertainment was mediocre at best but I pushed my way through it. It was boring and lacked luster and production organization. The stage was outdated and definitely didn't have state of the art equipment because we saw roadies moving stage props while trying to watch the show (this was very distracting) and the microphone system had a lot of static and sound quality was poor. I felt for the entertainers and didn't bother to go see anymore shows. Our ports and shore excursions were great! Just wish Hurricane Matthew wouldn't have diverted us from Grand Cayman on our scheduled day because they had to cancel our much anticipated "Segway" excursion because we arrived on another day. The cruise line quickly refunded our accounts (even if it was to the wrong person in the room). The other alternatives were great as we took the "City Tour" excursion for the price of one Segway. I do want to thank the Captain for making the decision to divert away from the storm's path. The Fun Shops were nice and I enjoyed the specials they ran towards the end of our cruise. I really liked the opening day sale in the liquor shop. We travelled with a group of 30 and was pleased with the "cocktail" hour they provided for our group (even though our group's host had to insist on it). The drinks were toooooooo expensive and watered down. That's unless you spend money in the casino and then it on and popping after you reached certain reward points. To be open-minded, I am scheduled to cruise on Carnival's Splendor in 2017 which will be the defining factor of whether or not I will ever cruise with Carnival. I must say, Carnival can take a few tips from Royal Caribbean (6 cruises) that never disappointed me, so I'm well over just being amused with being able to cruise at a slightly cheaper rate. I chose this cruise for my wife and I so we could decompress after a very long year. We moved from our home in Southern California to North Texas just over a year ago and it has been a lot of work to get ready, move and get settled. It was also her birthday that week, so we decided to give it a go. The Carnival Breeze is a relatively new ship having set sail in 2012. We had sailed Carnival twice before and the price was certainly attractive, but we were not sure what to expect. Our previous Carnival cruises had all been short and on older ships. We were exited to try some of the best Carnival had to offer. Sailing out of Galveston was a real plus because it was just a 5 hour drive to port to gain access to some of the best Carribbean beaches in the Carribbean. Our cruse was billed as an Exotic Western Caribbean cruise to Cozumel, Belize and Honduras (Mahogany Bay). We decided to drive down the day before and stay overnight in Galveston. Our online checkin was easy. We had been upgraded to a Jr. Suite so we were looking forward to priority boarding. We joined a Facebook group for the cruise and learned about Faster to the Fun. We also learned we had the same benefits being that we were in a suite. I would recommend getting a priority boarding whenever possible. We were prepared for long lines and did experience them on occasion but we avoided the worst with priority boarding and priority tender. We parked at a private lot called EZ Cruise. The shuttle to the port took far longer than expected. It seems they were still removing passengers from the terminal when we arrived around 10:30 am for our priority boarding. We had hoped to begin boarding around 11. The computer system was down early, causing a lot of delays and the ship did not begin boarding until almost noon. When the time came, we were whisked away past a very large room full of others waiting their turn. The photographers were out in numbers for that boarding photo. We stopped for one and they had some trouble getting their system to find our stateroom. Even with that delay we were onboard quickly and able to drop our bags in our stateroom early. We headed out to check out the ship and grab a quick bite to eat. We were pleasently surprised by how empty the ship felt. We were told this cruise would be sold out, but having priority clearly made a huge difference. We were on board and having lunch by noon. I tried the Mongolian Wok. It was quite good. That area became the omlet station for breakfast. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch and stroll about the ship before heading back to our stateroom to check out the balcony and the large suite amenities. We got our Hub App set up and registered for Chat and started checking out the Fun Times (what's happening on the Hub App) and selecting our favorites. We then took another stroll about the ship, exploring the spa area and adult area before heading to muster drill. Muster was uneventful but it was the first time we noticed the crowds. Elevators are slow when everyone is on the lower decks and trying to get somewhere else. We took the stairs. We eventually wound up at the lido deck tequila bar where we had a meetup scheduled. We had a couple of drinks, met a few people and watched the ship sail away from port. We noticed that you really couldn't see what was going on for the sail away party unless you were on deck 11 looking down at the lido deck or watching on the screen, but we were enjoying watching the Dolphins play with the ships coming in and out of port. They would swim and jump along the bow wake of the ships, seemingly leading them to their destination. We returned to our cabin where our luggage arrived. I did a little unpacking and slid my large roller bag under the bed. My wife likes to live out of her suitcase. Fast forward to dinner where we headed to our dining area, the Blush and our table. The table was set for eight but only four of us came to dinner most nights. We never saw one of the couples. Carnival did a good job of pairing us with people that had similar backgrounds which made the visits over dinner nice. We were quite disappointed though in the food and the service. One entree in particular was simply inedible. When I told our server, he brought me an evaluation form. I never heard from anyone about my poor review of the food. He offered to bring me something else but the service was already so slow, I didn't want to bother. This is a simple three course meal they are serving now, so it shouldn't take so long. We noticed many were eating their main course when we were being served our appetizer course. We also noticed that we did have a dedicated waiter but the rest of the wait staff was shared. We never saw the head server. I had to get up and get my own water a couple of times because we just could not get the service. The entree I returned was a honey glazed pork loin that isn't very complicated but it was served overcooked but only lukewarm. The pasta dish my wife had was very good and I had other dishes later in the cruise that were better. On formal night you have a choice of lobster or prime rib. I chose both and they were good, but the wait staff never came by with Au Jus or horseradish. Further, the portion sizes were very small. One of the smallest lobster tails I have ever seen. I know you can have more, but again, the service was slow and we didn't have all night to eat dinner on any night. We had things we wanted to do. The deserts were mediocre at best. The chocolate melting cake was excellent but I ended up having that three times because the other choices were not appealing. The ice cream served with the cake had previously melted partially and was refrozen so it was full of ice crystals. It had melted in the small cup it was served in and simply put back in the freezer for the next guest. It was very obvious and most restaurants would not have served it. Very disappointing main dining room experience the entire cruise. We decided to don our bathing suits and head up the adult area where we soaked in the hot tub for awhile. I was really surprised that there was no bar service on the deck. There was a bar, but if you wanted a drink you had to go and get it. This was not just an anomaly as it occurred the one other time we visited this area as well. Everywhere else you go on the ship, including the dining room, they are plying you with alcohol at every turn. Not here. We even experienced a time on the lido deck where we told the server we didn't want anothe drink but he set one down in front of us anyway and tried to talk us into keep them. I could not order a beer without being reminded I could get a bucket and they had a beer tower they were pushing as well. We left the hot tub and turned in for the night. It was late. The next few days of the cruise went by quickly. Too quickly. The ship really didn't feel crowded except for the muster drill day and we really enjoyed walking in and sitting down at the comedy show before dinner then enjoying the stage show after dinner. The entertainment was OK and I was once again reminded of a cheap Vegas experience. The production shows were definitely elaborate and the technology used on the shop was excellent, but the talent and arrangement fell a bit short. Who puts a piano in the center of the stage block the view for the entire first 10 rows and leaves it there for the entire first number. By the time the dancing starts, the piano needs to be out of the way. Common sense. Nobody could believe they would leave the piano there when we selected our seats. The 80s deck party was great, but once again marred by some pretty odd behavior. There was billed an 80s DJ before the deck party, but the band was setting up and tuning live during the DJ session. It's very strange to hear that going on while listening to tracks. Then the DJ started playing very obscure 80s rap. Everyone was looking around trying to figure out what was going on. Once the deck party started, it was done well. The lead guitar was amazing and the vocals were passable. Unless you were on the lower deck though, you were not going to get a drink served to you. We were on deck 11 (above the Lido deck) looking straight across at the band. No drink service. At all. It seems you are either in an area where there are servers and they push the drinks on you, or you see nobody. We took advantage of the movies on the deck a few times and enjoyed the big lido screen just above the pool. It was really pretty fun to sit out under the stars and watch a movie from a chaise lounge. Reminded us of the drive in movies when we were younger. The only problem though is that it was out on the open deck, between two bars. The rum bar and the tequila bar. There were loud and boisterous guests one night, just having a good time of their own. Whose to blame them. But you could not hear the dialog of the movie at times. Another night we tried to sit in a different area only to hear the blender from the bar making far too much noise during the movie. We loved that they popped fresh popcorn, although don't forget to add salt. That's good for those who can't do salt because it is popped without any seasoning. The ports were very nice. We did a relaxing beach excursion at every port. We really enjoyed starfish island in part because the tender went directly to and from the island without going to the dock. No lines waiting for a tender! There was food and a bar and wonderful beach. Who could ask for more. If you were going snorkeling first, they took you out to do that and then brought you back to the island. Very peaceful. There was an Elvis impersonator at the bar who was amusing and fun and the food was very good. We enjoyed the water and watched some dolphins play in the deeper water very nearby. This was in Belize. In Roatan we took a bus to a resort at the other side of th island and enjoyed the beach there before heading to the resort pool. This was an all inclusive so they had a number of servers roaming around offering you (not pushing you) drinks. This was our best experience of the trip. The vendors that are there along the beach are a bit pushy but you can avoid them by staying in your chaise lounge behind the roped off area our going out in the the water. We avoided them by going to the pool where they are not allowed either. Our best surprise was probably the lido marketplace food court. Well designed. Lots of choices. Guys burgers were very good, but I'd equate them to a Smashburger or maybe a cut above 5 guys. The burrito and taco place was excellent. Custom burritos with fresh salsa and many choices of hot sauce. They have had a habanero salsa. They'll also do breakfast burritos in the morning. The pizza was decent and freshly made, but not excellent. The desert area had plenty to choose from, including fresh fruit. I wish they had fresh cut fruit available throughout the day. We never felt crowded and were always able to find a table. The best we've seen to date on any ship. After the final sea day we reflected back on the cruise and regretted having to leave. We had experienced an art auction for the fist time where we purchased some artwork for our new home. We experienced some new ports and just enjoyed the time away from it all. The cruise clearly met our expectations, but it did not really exceed them. We were not surprise for wowed by Carnival but we did really enjoy our vacation. We were priority and decided to do self service with our luggage. We were off the ship quickly and on our way home by 9:30am . No hassle at all. If you are looking to get away from it all and just get some downtime and have some fun, I would recommend this ship and this itinerary. If you are looking for a great vacation experience, including great service, I'd advise looking elsewhere or you'll be disappointed. Read Less

Theatre entertainment 4 male 4 female singers and dancers got boaring night after night. Menu in main dining was much improved over a year ago.Selections were plentiful. Ship was clean and well maintained except for the teak chairs outside the Red Frog Pub . Belize still a problem with tendering ... no excursion almost 3 hours to get off! I live in Houston, so it was just a short drive to the port. Waiting in the heat wasn't fun, but the outdoor waiting area is covered with ceiling fans, and the line moved pretty quickly. I used the handicap line once inside, and the service was great. It is hard to explain to folks how you can look normal but be in pain, as I had to do to the woman trying to usher me to the "normal" line tho. The ship was beachy and tropical, with the cutest cabaña style room doors. My room was very nice sized, considering it was an interior room with two portholes. Everything was good until I found a long black hair in my sink, which in my humble opinion is totally unacceptable. I called the steward and he immediately came and cleaned the sink area. No other room issues and my cabin was fine the rest of the week. Food was pretty good overall. The lunch pasta bar and Tandoori food was great. Guy's burgers and fries were great. The SeaDogs polish dogs were good too. MDR was pretty good. Service was fine. I skipped the shows, but the Comedy show I was funny. Casino had great service and employees, but the smoke was ungodly. And I found it strange that people trying to get to other areas of the deck had to walk through it - unless they managed to find door to the outside promenade. I took shore excursions in Jamaica (Croydon Plantation, awesome) and Stingray City in GC, lots of fun. So overall, a good cruise. If not for the hair and the smoke, I would have given 4 stars. It seems that the crew was slacking in the fun energy they usually put out. One of the photographers was really rude to us. Seems like most of the shows were going one while we were in the dining room. The thrill theater really needs some one to work it all day instead of just certain times during the day. Seems like we wasted our money on the passes for the theater because it would sell out so fast and the theater would only stay open for a hour at a time. The sky walk is just a tease if you ask me , its only open at ports for 2 hours, seems like they get you excited to do these activity's when they only open for limited times. Read Less

Amenities offered on the ship was the main reason why we picked this ship. We were very excited for this trip, it had been 13 years since we sailed with Carnival, but have cruised over 9 other times on RCCL and NCL in between. Our cabin was nice and a good size, we had the 6M ocean view deluxe which had 2 bathrooms, well really 1.5 bathrooms. Which was useful when all of us wanted to shower. The cabin was clean. Unfortunately the very first night on board our son got violently ill, had to take him to see the doctor. After which he was fine. We truly believe it was food poisoning from Guy's Burgers, we have had food poisoning before and it was exactly the same, but of course they didn't do any blood work to determine if it was or a flu, and just said its a flu he isn't allowed to leave the room for the next day until he is cleared from the doctor. So our first sea day he wasn't allowed to leave the cabin, our cabin smelled from all the sickness as no one as allowed in to clean it up. He was fine that day and kept all food down etc. And of course nothing was offered to us to compensate for it. And we had to live for 2 days with a very loud blower in our cabin. Again the smell not out either and this big blower. Nothing offered to us in lieu. The Sea Days it rained and had high winds so the slides were shut down most of the time. So it was inside time. Our waiter Bertrum and Randy and Lucky were great. Their service was excellent and we loved going for our dinners. My kids loved the hot chocolate and ice cream machines. We all liked the entertainment staff, big shout out to Mike the Cruise Director and Mikey the Assistant Cruise Director. They were very entertaining and friendly. We also enjoyed Haly's trivia through out the cruise. We loved our Stingray and Sea Turtle excursion very much, and would recommend that to anyone in Grand Cayman. The comedy shows were excellent as were the night time production shows. My daughter loved the room service and there wasn't a day that didn't go by that she didn't use it. We were a bit disappointed that our room steward never knew us by name, we are very use to them knowing us by name and greeting us every day by name etc. But this never happened on this ship. The most we would get is a hi. The buffet food was good, good variety we found. As well we liked the pizza at the back of the ship. We stayed away from Guys Burgers after the first day. We really loved the Brunch in the Blush dinning room on sea days, what an awesome brunch. Highly recommend that. Main dining room food for dinner was excellent. We tried the ropes course and that was fun, as well as mini golf. It was never crowed which was nice, and we found the water slides never to be crowded either which was nice. Unfortunately the ship only has 2 pools for a ship holding over 3500 guest, and on sea days its almost impossible to get into a pool. Carnival really needs to rethink their pools. They need more for that many guests on board. Our favourite nights were the 90's and 80's trivia nights in the atrium. Those were so much fun, wished there were more of those nights and that they lasted longer.... As for embarkation that went very smoothly, however the window times you give to people aren't realistic since you have to go into a big room and wait up to 2 hours before you start to board. The window times should be closer to the boarding times as the big room you sit in is very boring. And would have rather of wandered around the port more instead of sitting around doing nothing. As for Disembarkation, this is where the Average rating comes from...... We get the announcement on our last day at sea, that there was engine problems one of them blew, and we couldn't go as fast so we would be coming in to home port later than planned, which is ok, as things happen and no one has control over that, and they said they would be sending out new disembarkation information to everyone later on. So we got our new info, but didn't get new luggage tags. So we are on the ship until 11:30am before we are called off, then we have to wait in customs etc. There is a bus there to get us to the airport (booked through the cruise line) and there were empty seats but the luggage area was full so they wanted us to go on the next bus instead even though they know it takes 1.5hrs to get to the airport and our flight leaves at 2:45pm, rather than ask someone who leaves later to come off and let us on. So they make us wait and our bus doesn't leave until 1:00pm, and the guy who comes on the bus to ensure we are all going to the right place couldn't believe the ship didn't change our baggage tags for earlier since our flight left at 2:45pm and that no one got off the first bus either. As you can imagine, we missed our flight. Yep missed our flight due to Carnival not giving us the correct baggage tags because they changed their arrival time into port and also for not getting us on the proper bus that would have gotten us to the airport on time. Carnival didn't care that we missed our flight, they are the ones who knew what time our flight left and I booked their transport through them, so they should have been responsible to make sure we didn't miss our flight. But no they didn't care. They left us stranded and out of pocket. We would have been better to arrange our own transportation. But thought we were safe by booking it with them directly. Boy was I wrong. In all the years we have cruised we have never encountered this before. This left the worst feeling and was not a happy ending to a vacation and it was our final memory to our vacation. Read Less

This was our 3rd time with Carnival and 5th time overall cruising. The Breeze is one of the newest ships and has a few amenities that are nice but it really feels like not much has changed over the years. The food at the buffets are mediocre at best. The deserts don't have much flavor in general aside from the amazing chocolate melting cake. The breakfast buffet is the worst though. Unless you like just eating cereal and the banana bread and fruit it's definitely worth skipping. The bright spots on the free food list are the burgers and fries at Guy's, the burrito bar, and the deli. Carnival is begging you to pay the extra fees for the upgraded food at their specialty restaurants. We have done the steakhouse in the past and it was very good. My wife on the final night had the surf and turf for the $20 upcharge in the Blush dining room and was very happy with it. There are some good items on their regular dinner menus that do taste good but way too many, especially any italian dishes, lack flavor and are usually overcooked. Our server Walter was very good and liked to interact with us as well as our children when they were there. I gave him free reign to choose my 3 courses one night without myself even looking at the menu and was happy with all of his selections, 2 of which I never would have ordered(escargot and the seafood medley-don't remember the actual name). Our room attendants did a nice job of keeping our room in good shape which is difficult with our 2 kids always messing everything up. It did seem like that service was missing at times throughout the dining locations and buffet tables. We saw a glass that was on a railing on one of the floors still sitting there the next day. My guess is that there is insufficient staff to keep up with everything more than it is a performance issue. I liked some of the shows and thought that the thrill theater (4D) was pretty cool (extra fee). My wife was disappointed with all of them for one reason or another but mainly because there is very little performance involved with them. We saw a few of the comics and they were hit or miss. The embarkation and debarkation were amazing although faster to the fun had a lot to do with that I'm thinking. Again.... more money. Now, the terrible... We chose the cove balcony this cruise this trip as we normally pick the regular balconies for our cruises. We have heard great things about them and initially it seemed to live up to those expectations. Then the smell started. I first thought it was paint at our stop in Key West. Then maybe exhaust by the time we hit Freeport. But the more we dealt with it, the more we realized that it was a fuel smell. The worst was when leaving our final port at Nassau when we couldn't even stay on our balcony to view the Atlantis resort as the smell gave both myself and my wife a terrible headache. Even worse was that the smell blew into our room which ultimately forced me to leave my cabin. We kept thinking that it was a maintenance related issue and a result of picking a cove balcony which is so close to the water and where all of the equipment like the life rafts and such are. We still don't know what exactly was causing it and I'm not sure Carnival did either but they did reduce our fees to comp us which was nice of them. Upon leaving the final day I talked with a few passengers who were in the adjacent 4 balcony rooms, each of which were comped for various reasons, mainly an A/C related water dripping issue. We never experienced it in our room but I felt it in the lido marketplace as well as the kids club elevator entrance which makes me believe that it is a ship-wide issue. For a ship that is only 4 years old, it certainly has its share of problems. We never used our balcony the final 3 days of our trip and only sparingly throughout the week. All in all, I came away from this cruise with the feeling like if I had spent extra money on every night on entertainment and food we would have had a significant difference of opinion on the quality of the ship. You get what you pay for and Carnival has made a point to get you on the ship at the cheapest price but then nickel and dime you to give you a similar experience to other companies out there which ultimately costs you more than had you booked on the other ships like Norwegian and Royal Carribean. We have cruised on other lines and chose carnival as a last-minute decision to get away quickly close to home (one hour drive to galveston from sugarland, texas). we travel with our daughter (who has cruised since birth!), who is now 6. Embarkation was uneventful. parking was nearby (pre-booked easily on line), and lines were short and everything moved along quickly. The first thing we noticed was the tiny balcony cabin. it was so much smaller than what we have been in on norwegian and royal caribbean. the cabin, and the ship were simply decorated, nothing was luxury at all. (think motel 6) that was the beginning of our disappointment with carnival. The dining was actually good. the buffet was nice, but the dining (we prefer to sit down in the dining room), was super. the staff was great, and the menu changed enough to make it interesting. (we usually only went to the buffet if we had to....breakfast on port days, and a quick dinner for our daughter if we were having a dinner for 2 later). other than that, days at sea we were in the dining room for brunch or a late dinner. no real complaints except the buffet breakfast food was cold, and greasy (the bacon laying in it). The entertainment was horrible. the music around the (tiny!!!) pools was blasting loud music of all kinds but it was hard to even determine the genre. it was so loud that talking to someone in the next lounger was next to impossible. just walking through the area was so unappealing that we only once sat near the main pool, and just for a few minutes only. the other (also tiny) pool was similar....the whole trip/ship was like a spring break adventure for young adults that want to drink and act stupid. i am sure this is to bring in the $$$$ for those intending to drink too much - but even though we also would love a fun party - this was over the top. The shows were silly and entertaining for a 6 year old but not adults. we took our daughter to a magic show that had multiple failed tricks....shook our heads and left. After complaining to the cruise director (who we ran in to while leaving the ship @ cozumel), he did try to make it up to us by having the entertainment director call us, offering us a free dinner at the italian restaurant, sending a robe to our daughter in the cabin, etc., but it was not really enough to make up for 7 days... Maybe we are cruise snobs, maybe we are over 50, maybe we don't party down like we used to, or maybe we just don't fit in the carnival demographic any more...but in the future we will choose a line that is not all about the party....the booze, the loud music....and more about having a relaxing experience with our family. On one note - our daughter did enjoy the kid's club. we did enjoy the serenity deck (adults only) as well. i also had a lovely massage/treatment but highly recommend you avoid the "spa access". it was a waste of money and the cleanliness was very questionable. All in all - i remember my other cruises fondly and this one i regret terribly. i am sure it is fun and fine for those people that don't know any better, but we do know better. Read Less

The Carnival Breeze is a lovely ship with a terrific staff. Jaime, the Cruise Director was outstanding. She was energetic, funny, talented, and a joy to watch every time she participated which was often. I asked and she told me that she got 20,000 steps on her Apple watch every day. I believe her. The food was wonderful. I especially recommend the Sea Brunch on sea days. Steak and eggs--fantastic! I didn't like the Lido Buffet arrangement as well as the one on RCCL ships. This one was smaller and the arrangement caused us to stand in long lines often. Our cabin steward was terrific!! His name was Made and I called him the happiest man I know. However, our inside cabin 7237 located above the theater was very loud during afternoon rehearsals and evening performances. I would recommend that you avoid Deck 6 & 7 inside cabins located above the theater. The last performance was a new show and the music was even louder than it had been all week. The bass was so loud that we could feel the vibrations in the walls. We couldn't wait for 11:00 pm for the show to be over. Read Less

Well, first of all we're experience cruisers... We were dissapointed by the decor... Not luxurious at all. Lots of areas were blawwwww. Also, many people on the staff seemed tired and overexhausted. The few bar staff we've met did not go out of their way to make our stay plesant. In other words, we didn't feel the usal Carnival standard we were use too. Otherwise, sevice onboard was great. (Room Service, Guest Service, cleaning staff, etc.) Also, dinner room staff was great, food was good and every other places where they served food was awsome too. On Lido deck, there was a burger joint called Guy's .... It served the best burgers I've ever ate on a cruise ship. Unfortunatly, fries were delicious but in one order, you would get the amount of salt acceptable in a week! Way too salty! Embarkation and disembarkation went smootly and was pretty quick considering the amunt of travelers getting on board. Entertainement and activities onboard were well organised and fun. Excursions were lots of fun and well organised. We loved the excursion to Passion Island in Cozumel. There was something for everyone. Also, it was an all inclusive. We do not recommand the excursions to the Secret resort in Montego Bay. Beach was awful, we had to walk a long distance to get our free alchool and If you think it's some mystical adult only get away, think again. Boring during the day for sure. Our cabin was the extended balcony, room 8462. If you're looking for a balcony with a great view, space and privacy, this is the one to choose. Other smaller balcony had a camera turned toward them and people in the whirpool had a great view at most of the balconies. We had the chance to visit another balcony at the very end of the boat, that was probably the best place to be because there was sun all day and all week. We didn't travel with small children but Carnival Cruise has a lot to offer to kids. If you're looking for a somptuous decor, run away from this boat. Read Less

This was my family's third cruise with Carnival, and the first time on the Breeze. In the past we have been on the Triumph and the Magic. Greatly enjoyed both prior trips. Carnival has changed up embarkation since last I cruised and it seemed to go a bit smoother and faster this time around. You choose your check in time, do not arrive prior or you'll be asked to wait, and then walk right on board. There is always a fun party as the boat sets sail, and this one did not disappoint! The ship is clean maintained very nicely. I did notice two separate times when there were people working on the boat and I felt it should have been done when no cruisers were aboard....but then I realized that is not very often and then I got over it. I'm talking painting a wall, the odor was strong as we were laying out, and then another time they had roped off a popular seating area on the Lido deck to remove and rebuild some tables. It took no time and the tables were bigger....so, no big deal, just caught me off guard. We stayed on deck 10, best location in my opinion. You are very close to the fun and do not have to worry about waiting on an elevator or mess with the stairs. Our cabin was clean and maintained as well as normal, no complaints there. The beds, however, were awful this time around. My husband and I both woke up VERY stiff and sore every morning. Not to mention it was so warm in our room that sleeping was uncomfortable. We asked other passengers if they had the same issues in their cabins...just the beds were an issue, the temperature issues seemed to be just or cabin...or maybe just us. Dining on the ship is great! I HIGHLY recommend the steak house. The chef comes out and checks on your satisfaction which was a nice touch. They have a good selection of wines, and the staff is very helpful in pairings. YUM...it was the best food on the boat. There is always plenty to do on a cruise, you just have to get involved to really enjoy it! We enjoyed Hasbro the Game Show, my husband made it on stage and had a good time with that! We saw some family comedy, which was HILARIOUS, and went to a couple of shows. All fun and entertaining. So, to sum up....food is great, staff was good, cabins....meh. I would most likely cruise again, but I think we will give the Vista a try or maybe go back to the Magic. Read Less

This was the third cruise, the previous two were on the Carnival Magic. Embarkation was seamless and quick. On board in in cabin by 12:00 without FTTF. Cabin was a cove balcony. These are wonderful, the balcony offers privacy and shade, and is close to the water, which was enjoyable. Cabin was simile in size and layout as previously experienced. No issues with too hot or too cold, no noise from the galley above. Room steward came and removed liquor from the mini refrigerator after departure. He did not clean our room on first sea day. I complained, and there was no further problems. Food is a mixed bag, from unacceptable, to superlative. The dining room was terrible on the two nights we tried. Undoubtedly the worst lobster I ever had, volf, overcooked, rubbery, along with overcooked vegetables. A bit pushy on the wine as well, I don't want to be asked repeatedly if I would like a bottle instead of a glass. Guys Burgers was good, considering the volume they produce. The burgers were fresh, as well as the buns they were served on. Good menu varety. The true star of the dining experience is Cucin Del Capitano. The ambience and service is top shelf. The house chianti is very good, and the varied menu is executed flawlessly. For the $15 upcharge you receive a great dining experience. Capitano was so good we dined thereon four different evenings. Music was quite good, with the exception of the piano bar. That performer only seemed nterested in getting drunk, at least on the first night. Never went back. Other music was really good, t he stringed trio, the country western combo, and the jazz band were all fun to listen to and waych. Entertainment seemed lacking compared to previous cruises. The night of the send port call there was no comedy or shows offered. The Thrill Theater was closed the entire trip. Overall this cruise did not measure up to previous cruises, so much so that I will consider Royal Caribbean next time. Read Less

I have taken 6 previous cruises with Carnival so I have a pretty good track record with this cruise line and have had enough experience to compare it to other cruises. We sailed on the Magic two times out of Galveston and would have sailed on the Magic again, but were ecstatic when the Breeze came to the Galveston port. However, sadly, disappointed continued to be the word used when it came to the Breeze. Overall, our cruise was great! We splurged for a balcony room for the first time and that kind of help redeem our let down with the ship in general. Compared to other ships, the Breeze's decor and atrium was "blah." I realize they were going for a different "feel", but it was understated in my opinion and I was underwhelmed. In all of my previous cruises I've never seen the maintenance issues that this particular ship seem to have from the pizzeria to the candy store to random issues and workmen throughout the ship. One of the reasons we chose the Breeze was the one of a kind Thrill Theatre. We were very disappointed that it was also having maintenance problems and shut down for the entirety of the cruise. We were also disappointed that the carnival website was a little misleading, or maybe we were not attentive enough to the small print, in their spa prices for massages. We had budgeted for a couple of indulgence but then when we went to book it was no where close to what we have seen on the website so we had to scratch that off our list as well. Disappointed seemed to be the feeling we had over and over on the Breeze. The ship was clean. The cabin stewards great! The balcony cabins are bright, pretty, warm, and spacious. However, we were on Deck 9 toward the aft and I heard more noise overhead than ever before. Next time, I will probably choose Deck 8. I thought the food in the main dining room was maybe a notch better than other Carnival ships, but the quality of food at Cucina del Capitano was NOT as good as what I had 3 times previously on the Magic. The Guy's Burgers was something new and was great, BUT we were disappointed (there's that word again) that there were NOT hamburgers and hotdogs on the Lido around 11 pm like other cruises we had been on. The pizzeria was also one of our favorite things about other Carnival cruises, but the pizzeria on the Breeze was just flat BAD the 3 times we tried it. We finally just gave up. The embarkation was easier than the other two times we had cruised out of Galveston. I like the changes they made on embarkation and disembarkation was also MUCH more organized, even though we did have to wait quite a while in our waiting areas before we got off the ship. Overall, we enjoyed the cruise. The ports were wonderful! The ship was clean! Our cabin was lovely. The crew was great! We were just hoping for more from the Breeze. I would have sailed on the Magic a third time had it not moved from Galveston. We are NOT planning on sailing on the Breeze again. We are looking at RC out of Galveston or the extra expense of taking Disney Dream out of Florida. Read Less

For this ship to be one of the newer ships, it is lacking in a lot of areas. First, there is only one- very small pool for the entire ship that holds 4400 people! This very small pool was 90% full of screaming kids. I would think a ship this size would have more than 1 pool & at the very least would at least have an adult only pool. There is the Serenity deck that is adult only, but it only has a 6 person hot tub, no pool. It also has a bar with 1 bartender that just decides on a whim when she closes the bar. It could be that she closes up at 3:10 or 4:00. The food in the restaurants is very average. I have been on Royal Caribbean Enchantment of the Seas that had beautiful displays of delicious gormet food & ice sculptures. Nothing like that here The food is just "ok". We (12 of us) did not do any ship excursion. We did our own. In Grand Caymen, we went sailing out on a catamaran & snorkeled & swam with the stingray's. This was amazing! In Cozumel, we rented a jeep & went to the other side of the island to non-touristy stuff. Went to Rasta Bar on the beach that was just beautiful. Also went to Coconuts that was another fun place. The disembarkation process was a complete nightmare! It took 2 1/2 hrs to get our luggage off the conveyor belts & another 30 min to get through customs. This was very disorganized! On our last day, we were going to breakfast when we heard a man scream for help. His wife was having a seizure. I am a nurse & I responded. His wife was unresponsive & I did CPR on her & she did survive. The point of me telling this, is that for 27 min during this episode- NOBODY from responded from the ship! The ship doctor never came! The dining room staff all stood around & couldn't figure out what to do. This is very appalling & very disturbing! They all need to be re-trained so they will know how to respond. I would not go on this cruise again. Read Less

This was my 4th cruise with Carnival and we have always had a great vacation. I am not impressed with this ship, bigger is not always better. I was unaware when I booked this cruise that it was spring break and there was going to be 1000 kids on-board. Everywhere you turned there was screaming, running, kids, with no parents in sight. One night we went to the tides pool and there was about 25 teenagers crammed into one hot tub, no security around. I would have chosen a different week to cruise. We flew into FLL the day before the cruise, and rented a car to see some attractions in Miami. We stayed overnight in an airport hotel which offered us a shuttle to the miami cruise port. Our scheduled check-in time for the ship was for 1:30pm. When we arrived at the Breeze terminal there was a huge lineup of people waiting outside the empty air conditioned building in the heat. It was so unorganized and chaotic, I had never seen anything like it. When you asked an employee for information they just tell you to wait and you will be called. They had 2 signs...check-in and next check-in. This isn't the ships first sailing, they've done this before. Why wouldn't they have signs posted with each check-in time and formed lines with those times? That would make more sense! We eventually got on board hooray! The ship is beautiful and big. Our cabin was on deck 2, an interior aft, I won't choose that again. We felt vibrations and heard noises from below us. We got early dining in the Blush dining room, which was a change I always did anytime dining before this cruise. Our table was right against this huge post which I didn't care for, but I liked our servers and I didn't want to change that. Food was great all over the ship, you'll never go hungry! We loved Guy's Burger Joint. Always very long line-ups for food in the buffet areas, unless you get there right when it opens. Also long and disorganized line-ups for getting off this ship at ports of call, 4000 people exiting 1 gangway all at once just crazy! How about each half of the ship exiting front or back gangways! Disappointed with the fun shop. I spent $20, on other Carnival ships I've spent $200. Punchliner comedy club and trivia games were good. Divas show was good in the theatre. Not much else to do in the evenings unless you gamble at the casino. Ports of call were awesome. Ocho Rios we chose a private company named Jaital for a Dunns River Falls tour. Carnival didn't offer only a "dunns river falls" excursion. We were very happy with our excursion, very fun and affordable, I highly recommend them. We had plenty of time for the falls, shopping in port, and a cool bevy at Margaritaville! Cayman Islands, we ended up doing a nice island tour with a shuttle driver in the port for $15 each, because our Carnival Stingray swim was cancelled due to bad weather. Lots of time to see the island and buy souvenirs. We had no plans for Cozumel, until I won a free Carnival shore excursion woohoo! We had a wonderful day on a v.i.p. deluxe catamaran tour. I suggest going to the welcome aboard show! There's lots of prizes and give-aways. Getting off the ship was a BREEZE! We waited in the theatre and they called our zone number and we were off the ship in 5 minutes. After we collected our luggage I noticed my suitcase had a hole in the top corner. It was very disappointing because this is the second time that they have damaged my luggage on a cruise with them. I guess its time to upgrade to a new hard-cover suitcase. We had pre-booked MJS transportation company to pick us up from the cruise port and take us to FLL airport when we arrived. Prompt, good service, at a great price too. All in all we had a good vacation. The weather was fantastic and the food was great. Read Less

This review uses experience on Royal Caribbean as a high water mark reference point; though the Breeze offers good value, it does not measure up to the quality of service, ship design, décor, and staff professionalism experienced on Royal C. Staff: Though the restaurants and cleaning staff had good intensions, they often seemed overextended. They often did not seem to understand English when asked any question beyond the most common phrases and then responses where difficult or impossible to understand. This was not the case at all on Royal C.so I was disappointed. Examples of the less than professional service are the following: Not thinking to serve a spoon with coffee and having to get a busy waiters attention to ask for one. Serving melted ice-cream or lukewarm food. Impolite or impatient ways of getting you to take bread or give your order because the waiters seemed pressured or rushed to get their job accomplished. (again not experienced on Royal C. ) Some waiters seemed to be armature or ill trained, unsure of how or what to do next while others did okay. It was inconsistent. I must say the dining directors were good and accommodating. Photographers where a constant annoyance on this cruise; at every dinner we were interrupted by men asking us (or not asking us) to pose for photos. On one occasion, for a second photo op that meal, a photographer was with an assistant dressed as a pirate with a plastic sword. without asking any in our dining party the pirate went around the table placing his sword under the throat of one of each couple to pose for the camera. Okay, maybe fun for some with young kids but our group of 12 was not in this category; very unprofessional and intrusive. Photographers also seemed to be filling many corners of hallways impleading the heavy traffic of this large passenger list of 4700 trying to snag anyone to get a photo in front of a fake beach or ship when we could do the same with our own cameras with the real thing outside! It was like navigating a narrow market around venders trying to sell you at every turn. Lines at every turn: Anything you needed or wanted to do required waiting in a line for at least 20 min or more usually. Customer service? wait in line (on the phone too). Shore excursions? wait in line. Food at most any venue? wait in line, activities, wait in line. We found ourselves using room service much more than expected to avoid time wasting lines but then still a 40 minute wait and for only sandwiches, coffee and juice; anything more, including pop, required payment. Ship design was not impressive. Dining rooms not very elegant compared with RC. They were also louder though we sat at many different locations on top and lower areas; acoustic deadening needed. The veranda deck was not inviting with high glass walls and partitions along the length of the ship, you could not enjoy a walk next to the sea with an open railing, and then had to go around high partitions along the way. Traffic flow in the buffet areas ( The Market) was difficult. Lines wrapped around hall areas. Attendants push carts and carrying things were always needing you to clear their way. People crowed past each other to find the ends of lines. Décor just average. The small atrium had a backdrop of clouds on blue painted on a wall with cylindrical red and orange lights on wires. Tacky. Color combinations and decorations were nothing impressive. There was a feeling of randomness as to where activity spaces were placed. Casino, bars, play spaces were hard to locate logically, you had to find a map; it seemed not very intuitive. Art was just displayed in common hallways and then in a small, one entry room. Again, I was spoiled by a Royal Caribbean ship that had flowing intuitive and inviting spaces easy to find and get familiar with. Embarkation and Disembarkation was well organized and managed by the upbeat directors. This review just escaped a two star rating because of good Varity of food, hard working staff and upbeat directors. But next time for me and mine, its definitely a return to Royal Caribbean on a smaller, more elegant ship. Read Less

We have been on several cruises with Carnival and I must admit that sometimes bigger is not better as this ship is the largest so far. This is the first time we did not get a suite and we sure missed it. We had originally booked a group that had connecting balconies but everyone ended up dropping out before the cruise, but my husband and I wanted to go as we had not been to the ports on this itinerary before. We stayed in balcony room 6507 on the back of the ship and even though the view was nice as you got to see the whole ocean it did not make up for all the noise from the LimeLight Lounge that was 1deck down below us. The bed literally shook at night from the music blaring below they must not have any insulation on the ceiling of that club to buffer the noise. The food was so-so at the buffets and at the dinning room . I don't know why the food quality and food selection has gone down so much but who wants to eat the same selection thing for a week, but the best place to eat is the Steak House and Italian restaurants that cost extra but well worth the money to get a good meal. Even though they say you can not save seats people were out at 6 and 7am putting towels on all the chairs every where even the Serenity deck so it was impossible to find any place to lay out unless it was on my own balcony. I also think this ship needs a good cleaning and maintenance top to bottom as most dinning room chairs were badly stained and our balcony had several rust places that didn't happen overnight nor was the floor ever cleaned out there. The staff is over worked and can not service all the people on board. I will say that Mike the cruise director was one of the best I have ever seen !! The ports were great but the ship not so much !
