Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Riviera

This cruise was selected for several reasons. For one, the reputation of Oceania for serving the best food on the ocean was an attraction. Also, the itenery ... we have been to Greece and Italy several times, but those traveling with us had not been to the Mediterranean. It also helped that the price was right! "The Good" ... The public space is lovely. Well cared for and immaculately clean. The ...

We loved sailing on the Riviera from Athens on the Romance and Relics tour. The ship was spectacular, most especially the service and food. The crew was outstanding a almost every encounter with staff was pleasant. We got to saying hello and calling the staff by name after only a few days aboard. The food experience was the highlight of the ship, most notably Polo restaurant which rated a ...

We are unsure why Oceania is called the "food cruise line."

The food was mediocre on this cruise. The food we ate ashore and on our plane to and from was better, and I am not exaggerating. I almost laughed out loud when told the bread was made onboard. It is not and it is not good. Most things are frozen. For example, the lobster thermidor is made by boiling a plastic packet of lobster and other items and placing it on a hulled out shell. It is not ...

Surrounded by senior citizens only. Unnecessarily short stay at each port of cal

We just concluded Oceania's cruise from Venice to Athens on the "Riviera". Among over 1,000 passengers were only 5-6 young ones; the rest were senior citizens in their '70s. There were no poolside (or anywhere else) activities, nothing happening after dinner other than listening to old folks talking about the menu or their retirement. Awfully dull. The menu at the ship's restaurants was fine if ...

Great cruise but a little disappointed with the staff and the boutiques.

We found the staff very hard working and dedicated but where are they?? We think Riviera has cut staff and we have never seen so many staff cry or be called out by the heads of each of the restaurants. Lots of bullies on this ship. We saw one young girl with at least 8 tables in the buffet to look after. That's getting coffee, drinks, cleaning the table, taking the dishes to the kitchen, ...

Another "Home Run" cruise on Oceania

Doesn't matter which ship you take on Oceania; some people prefer the larger (1250 passengers), other the smaller (650 passengers), but always first class service and food. None of this comes inexpensively, so what's to complain about? There were a lot of families with kids on this cruise. Whoooops, not much for kids to do on Oceania. Someone gave them bad advice to take this line, it is ...

We've been customers of Regent and wanted to try Oceania since they are part of the same company. We had a fantastic time with our friends and I hesitated to select average in my overall rating because I believe my true rating would be somewhere between average and very good. However, I hesitate to select 'very good' because it did not live up to my expectations based on what is advertised, and ...

Not worth it and won't choose Oceania again

We chose this review for the itinerary, hoping for an upscale smaller ship. 1) My primary reason for given this such a poor review was that the staff was really not great. This has to be the first cruise where we encountered absolutely unfriendly staff. Most of them did not want to be there it felt like. Only our room attendant & the gentleman staffing the gym, were charming and always ...

First the positives: The food, the food, and the food As a lobster lover, my goal was to eat some form of lobster every day and I succeeded in that goal! Despite what others have written, Toscana was our absolute favorite and we were happy we were able to get a second reservation there toward the end of our cruise. It almost seemed as if the wait staff tried extra hard to provide an ...
