I have travelled Celebrity many times but never have I experienced so much noise. the cabin we were allocated was concierge class cabin 2145 it has a restricted view although a premium price is being charged. the noise from the above main café is unbearable day and night 24hours a day, when complaining to the front desk manager a derisory offer of compensation for a completely ruined holiday. all of the ships crew were aware that the noise in the surrounding cabins was a problem. The crew were good with their service, the entertainment cruise director was poor and no where near as good as the previous cruise directors we have seen and met on Celebrity. The ship is due a refit and it needs it as all areas are tired. some of the entertainment was good but I believe one comedian was did four shows in two days. OVER ALL A POOR HOLIDAY CRUISE. Read Less

We chose the med cruise because we did the baltics on same ship last year, what a difference Petty rules and regulations stopped kids and teens having fun Passengers tried to nake larger of 2 outdoor pools adult- only, managed to get it for over-12s only, leaving small pool over-crowded (about 600 kids and teens on ship) They tried to get all under-12s in kids factory and teens to stay in x-club to keep them out of the way of their preferred passangers They put a sea marshall permanently in hideaway, where they preferred to gather, and made them whisper The disco was in sky lounge and usually started at 11.45pm each evening, all under-18s were foreably ejected at midnight, even those sitting with parents A kid about 11 had a wanted photo of him placed around ship because he accidentally hit a girl with a water volleyball, he was escorted by 2 sea marshalls to his parents A lady photographed teens in hideaway and when was asked to delete photo, dragged one teen to guest relations, who were not interested when the teen said that was assault There were approx 500 extra guests on board than usual, this was very apparent in cafe and restaurant, as service was strained The entertainment was very poor and lack-lustre Sue, the cruise director, had no idea about entertaining families If you are thinking of travelling on silhouette in aug 2020, I would consider it very carefully, because the passengers travelling without family do not want their holiday compromised and the ship's officers pander to their every need, to the detriment of families Read Less

Having cruised with Celebrity many times we are Captains Club Elite members. We have always found them to be the best cruise line having cruised with Cunard, Royal Carribean, and P&O. The staff were unhelpful and sometimes rude. The perks we were entitled to were usually waiting inside your cabin for you, but this time you had to ask for them if you wanted them. Needless to say Celebrity obviously needs them more then we did so we told them to shove them where the sun doesn't shine. Embarking was slow, luggage didn't arrive untill early evening and when it did one of the cases didn't belong to me. Balcony was wet,as were the chairs. Flakes of paint and dirty tissues left uncleared from previous cruise. Very mundane menu in main dining room, buffet boring and not enough seating on sea days. Smoke from the ships funnels came onto the balconies which we have never experienced before. No daily news sheet, lack of daytime activities. One free session of Bingo where the prize was a Celebrity Towel! A bottle of Stella lager was $16! Yes roughly£12. Bottle of house white wine $54. Have always recommended Celebrity but never again. We complained at the the time to Guest Relations but it just fell on deaf ears. This is just my personal review of the cruise others may have a different view. But will never cruise Celebrity again. Not the Celebrity we once loved. Read Less

We expected more from Celebrity. The food choices were limited in the main dining room. They seem to always be trying to upsell you .Difficulty getting off the ship in port with only one gangway. Show times were inconvenient, with no show available after dinner. They were very prompt to close buffet and it was very annoying to have people cleaning around you while you are eating. We thought Celebrity was a cut above but we had better service on Holland America. Shows were average ,but heavy on acrobatics. The wine package was expensive compared to other cruises and drinks overall . They had a good combo playing on board. We were told we would have open seating for dinner, but it was not really available. If this is important to you, it is not something they really have. Leaving the ship was easy, but getting on was a nightmare Read Less

We went with a large group and knew from the start that things would not be going well. First, they didn't have enough seating in the dining room for all of us. Second, the food was of such a low grade that we could not cut up the steak, no steak knives...safety reasons! So no more meat that needed to be sliced up. The baked goods appear to be frozen and then heated up...the biscuits were like hockey pucks! We had a guy who ordered the Kosher packaged meals and shared with the rest of us...one of the guys at the table remarked that this was the best meal he had on the whole trip! The entertainment was at fifth grade level...we had seen better performances at school theater! The acrobat couple were amazing! The comedians were fabulous but that was only 2 shows. The staff was wonderful and they did rise above all the miserable food and entertainment. I would go with a different line in the future...this one is done as far as I am concerned! Read Less

Absolute lack of accountability!!!!! More than 60 hours on the phone to celebrity even before our cruise..over 40 of those hours were on hold! most times, wait to talk to one person and get put back on hold while you are transferred to someone else. When the price of our cabin/cruise dropped, went through 3 transfers before finally getting a representative that said she would not give our refund, but would get onboard credit for the difference..just had to be approved by her support team..but they were all in a meeting. She promised they would call back as soon as they were done. But a week later, and still no call! So, we had to call again, and got put on hold...again..and had to explain everything ..again..and got put on hold.. Again.. Finally told that the difference was now an onboard credit. And, for the inconvenience, we would get free specialty dining and told to make our selection/reserva tion riight away as it filled up fast. But, as soon as we did, our account was charged! So, we called back..again.. And got put on hold...again!!! Now we were told that it is up to the ship if they will honor the voucher we were getting..we'd have to ask (beg) when we actually boarded! No thank you..please just cancel we said. But they REFUSED! She said she could't do that! So we requested a supervisor..who again REFUSED!! Again told she would not do that! I can't make this up folks..out of the twilight zone!!! When we called back the next day, again put on hold..then again explained everything all over again! Then this agent put us on hold..again..while she explained it all to someone in another department..but we were not allowed to talk to him! When she finally came back on the line..over 20 minutes later, she asked when we had initially called, and put us back on hold..again! This went on for over an hour, and finally male supervisor got on the line..said he would cancel the reservations, and restore the funds to our account, and send our boarding passes..that had been promised weeks before. But, of course, those funds were not restored, and no boarding passes either. So, we had to call..again... and got put on hold..again! It took 3 more transfers to finally get someone to put the money back in our account..and still no boarding passes. Now just a week before our cruise, we called again.. And the recording said the wait time was less than 5 minutes. It was over 40 minutes later that a male finally answered..yes, he could see in the notes that they were supposed to have sent boarding passes, but no, they weren't sent. He promised to send them right out. but when they still didn't arrive, now 4 days before our cruise, we are in panic. We called..again. and, got put on hold..again. Over an hour later, their agent admonished that we were too late now!!!! Then she chewed that we didn't need boarding passes,,she never uses them! (Absolutely going against all of our previous directions! ) Who do you believe? Who at celebrity even knows? Such a mess, and so many different stories! Nobody is accountable! The day of the cruise, had to get up by 2 am to make escot connection for Port Everglades/Ft. Lauderdale. But the bus was not allowed to stop in any of the empty spaces in front of the terminal. Instead we were sent all the way around the side of this large building to a back corner and dumped in an alley! Ankle deep street water in the middle of a thunderstorm! And that is where our luggage was offloaded as well. Absolutely no protection, covering, canopy, tent, or even tarp! Buses, taxi cabs, cars, trucks speeding by within inches of where we had to step off the bus! It was over 100 ft back to the (only) terminal entrance..our clothes, shoes, bags, everything absolutely soaked! And now we had to go to several counters because computers were down, and we had no boarding passes!!!! At lunch on our 4th day, a bone in the chicken salad cut my mouth open, as witnessed by the maitr'd ..who got a plate to take the bone to the chef..and napkin for the bleeding. The very next day..the lamb pot pie had an even bigger very sharp bone that lodged in my gums and front teeth. it took a lot to even finally pry it out..again same maitr'd was right there and got a plate to take the bone to the chef..and napkins for the bleeding..but there was no dentist on board..just a doctor. When i got back home to my dentist, xrays prove my front tooth is chipped! On our next to last day, i was out on the veranda enjoying the morning view. It had rained, and was windy. As i was sitting at the little table, something hit me in the head! It was a piece from the big pipe at the top corner! i went to lay down right away, and told the cabin stewards when they came. Also told the supervisor that was just outside our cabin. At our last port, my cabin mate lost his (plastic) room key, so we waited at guest relations to get another one. But then mine didn't work. So I had to go back and forth, up and down to guest relations three more times. The last time i was told that whatever I was doing, if it didn't work that time, i'd have to get an electrician! On our last evening, we put our luggage outside our cabin door, exactly as we were told to do, for their porters to transport to the terminal. But the next morning when we got to the terminal, my big suitcase (part of a set) had been destroyed! The bottom was ripped open, all the way through all materials and into the clothes! The entire mounting/wheel assembly and the wheel were completely missing. Gone! There was no staff to be seen. Completely unable to roll the suitcase, it had to be carried. i asked the uniformed staff at the end of the line (where everyone was) what to do, and was told to (later) call celebrity! When we got outside, and had to wait for the bus again, we had to cross the street, still carrying that huge suitcase without wheels! An hour and a half later, two buses showed up. we went to the first one, and were told that we had to go to the other bus. After we got the rest of the suitcases and bags..and went back for the other big suitcase that had to be carried (sans wheel) and finally got on the bus ourselves..another agent came on and told us all we had to get back off!!!! There was another bus coming for us but it was delayed! Again, dragged all the bags and suitcases, And the one without wheels, back across the street again! another bus showed up eventually..and we finally got all of the bags and suitcases and the one without wheel, loaded..and got on board ourselves..finally! but the bus had so many other piers/docks to stop, we got further and further behind! we were about 3 hours behind schedule when we finally left Ft. Lauderdale. Our driver called to let his dispatcher know that he would not be able to complete our trip as he would run over the 10 hour maximum driving time -federal law. So, another driver was sent, but we had to stop and wait for him to show up. We ended up hitting rush hour traffic. It was after dark when we finally got back to our drop off, and then another 2 hour drive home! Kicked out of our cabin so early so rooms can be cleaned for the next passengers, it made a terribly long and exhausting day! but, bright and early, as directed, i called celebrity to make the report... and got put on hold. again. After more transfers, an agrnt took all of the details, and she had me send the pictures right away. i kept sending emails to confirm that she had recieved everything..latervin the day, she finally emailed back that yes she had. and we waited. Finally, almost a week later, she asked me who else i told about the suitcase that was destroyed..and about the bones in the food, and the falling debris on the verandah..etc. She then had the audacity to tell me that i should have asked somebody else at the terminal! There was nobody else, and no signs for direction either! Further, I didn't get killed by the pipe..it was just the coating! it still caused bruising and it hurt, and scared the heck out of me! NO, NO, NO...absolutely NO accountability!!! then she said that as a good will jesture, she was prepared to give me a $50 on board credit on a future cruise! so maybe next time they could kill me..or at least blind me with flying debris! HOW INSULTING! Thinking maybe higher ups didn't know of this shameful conduct, I wrote a detailed letter to c.e.o. Over 2 weeks later, same agent called/left a message that she had JUST received the pictures she already acknowledged she had received the month before. she said i should call her so we could discuss the matters. But, each time i called, and got put on hold..again..she was not available! She finally messaged that she had changed hours, and she would be in her office/available for the rest of the day..to 9 pm. But when i called just after 5, the young male that finally answered said she was not there! He even said that she was supposed to be there, schudiled to be there, but she wasn't!!! ENOUGH! Absolutely no accountability!!!! i did send a follow up letter to c.e.o. . just over a week later, i received a call from the executive office.. previous agent was no longer on the case. now told that the debris/material that fell on me was not the pipe itself, and there was a doctor for my tooth... So they would only do the $50 for destroying the suitcase! (not even anything for the clothes..to say nothing of the inconveniences!!!!) our first celebrity cruise was our last!!! to think we waited and dreamed all these years.. We finally got to retire, and everything was just ruined by celebrity. People who refused to do their jobs!! people who lied to us, and people who put our lives at risk! why we saw MEDICAL EXAMINER van at our pier! we did one..and done! Never, NEVerrrrr, NEVER again!!!!!!! PS; have to put one star to submit the review..but it should be ZERO! Read Less

The ship seemed to be over crowded it was a nightmare trying to get a seat in the buffet. In the restaurant it was just for people with drinks package. It took me ages to get the wine list and the bottles of wine was very exspensive, when they had it.Half the time they never had the wine I wanted. We also didn't like the times of the shows in the theatre at 7 and 9, if you went to the early show there was a queue for dinner. I you went to the later show you at to go to dinner realy early, we prefer when there is a show at 10. The shows we did manage to see were realy good. The ship was not very well designed you felt you were drinking in a corridor in some bars. When they had entertainment in the sky bar there was not enough room and you couldn't get a seat. On the plus side the staff were great and they could not do enough for you. Our cabin steward was realy nice and helpful. On the whole I was a bit disappointed with Celebrity having heard such good reports.about them Read Less

My family and i had two concierge rooms on this 14 night baltic cruise. we chose this itinerary for the ports of call. Specifically St. petersburg during the world cup. as you can imagine, the cruise line charge a premium for this cruise as we were supposed to stay overnight during the world cup! due to an "act of God", the captain insisted that it was too windy for us to dock in St. Petersburg. we sat in Russian waters for 2 days, then put the "peddle to the medal" all the way to Germany at 5 knots. Although i would like to Thank Celebrity for putting our safety as a priority, i felt like if the weather was so bad and an "act of God" then how did other ships dock? PO Brittania holds 4000 passengers... this is not a smaller ship and was able to dock. I had the opportunity to ask the Captain why we didn't go anywhere else and his response was that it was an act of God and that we were on a tight schedule. TIGHT SCHEDULE?! we sat in the water for 3 days in a row... and the 4th day we were barely cruising to the next port. I felt like we should have changed the itinerary to go to another port if russia was not going to work out. i would have been disappointed to not see Russia, but happier than sitting at sea for more than half the cruise! Oslo, amsterdam, so many additional ports we could have stopped at. Celebrity gave us 23 dollars back.... what a joke! We could have done the same ports of call on a 7 night cruise at half the price... The part that made it worse, is that the crew were not accommodating after the bad news. they seemed just as upset as we were. Anyone in customer service should know that you need to work extra hard to make it up to the customer when something like this happens.Celebrity didn't do anything to try to make up for it, no discounts on speciality dining, internet, nothing. The Entertainment was horrible. 3 good nights out of 14. They even had the nerve to put the same acton two nights in a row for entertainment! WHAT?! i have never seen this before in my life. The cruise director was too old and lacked energy. I have no clue what she's doing on this ship. She is the worst i have ever experienced and because of the additional days at sea, we had to spend more time listening to her thank the captain for his wonderful decision to miss Russia and thank the crew repeatedly for their efforts. I have been on 40 cruises and very loyal to RCL and Celebrity, but this has brought me to look at other cruise lines. I have been through hurricanes and went to different ports, never did we miss a port and sit at sea while other ships cruised past us and docked... Pro's: stateroom attendent was amazing. dining room was very good. my time dining was great and very accommodating no matter what time we showed up. wait staff was hit or miss. the band is amazing. very talented. wish the rest of the ship was professional as they were. honestly without the ports of calls, this was not a fun trip at all. reflection and equinox has a higher standard. This will definitely be my last time on the Silhouette and perhaps celebrity. I would have even taken a discount on a future cruise if offered at the time but the way everything was handled i can't imagine returning. its not worth the risk of ruining valuable vacation time. Our second cruise on Celebrity but likely our last. The line has gone downhill. The prime cruise focus for most if not all of the 2800 passengers was Saint Petersburg - well we were let down totally on that score spending two days at anchor as our ship's profile, it was claimed, was too large for the prevailing winds. Somehow the P&O Britannia with 1000+ more passengers had no such trouble negotiating the channel!! Our St. Pete's excursion people informed us that we were the only cruise ship not to dock! The "explanation" from Captain Peppas was weak. No compensation whatsoever form the cruise line. Pathetic handling of the situation. Ship and/or Peppas unfit for purpose. If St. P is an issue for this class of ship DON'T use it - you're gambling with the passenger's money and then being unreasonable and unfair when you fail to deliver. So 7 out 14 days at sea - didn't sign up for that. Activities were all commercially driven - pathetic - booze; retail and gambling - again another cash grab by Celebrity. Standards have dropped - public rooms often untidy and cabin service poor On positive notes: food excellent as were the shows. Also the availability of the World Cup games - thank god for this else we would have had to join the banal paper airplane making or egg drop competitions! Read Less

We had high hopes for this cruise, having cruised with Royal we thought this was an upgrade. WRONG, the service was awful from the moment we got on. Don't ask for anything in the restaurant you will be told no and forget asking for a bottle of water with another drink. That is frowned upon. Granted we did speak to the customer services manager and then they let us have a bottle of water with another drink, but the service in the restaurant was still lacking. Probably didn't help being put on a table under the stairs with the spare furniture and general walk through to the kitchen, perhaps our standards were too high. We didn't enjoy the fact that so many places on board had extra charges, especially since we only saw one family use the 'alcoves' for the entire trip. (2 weeks). The excursions were hit and miss, some good some poor. Lucky for us we booked this trip for the destinations which were outstanding, no hassle to get into Russia either. Overall we wish we took a different company for this destination cruise as we were disappointed with the food and service on board. Royal, Princess, Marella and P&O all have better offerings in our opinion. Perhaps if you haven't cruised with another line you would enjoy this with nothing to compare it to. I had cruised on Princess only 2 weeks prior and the difference in service was vast. If you enjoy walking around the deck don't come on this ship. The only jogging track has a cigarette pit stop and then round the corner a burger pit stop. Not enough open and non smoking places. The saving grace was our cabin, thank goodness we had a wonderful aft view and attentive steward. Needless to say we won't cruise with Celebrity in the future. Read Less

Used this 2 nighter after being on the ship for the trade winds transatlantic crossing to introduce part of the family to celebrity . It is unlikely after this experience they will want to cruise with celebrity again. The transatlantic cruise was 100% and could not be faulted, however this 2 night should never have been offered by celebrity. The ship was noisy, rowdy, senior staff were not apparent and did not even show themselves at disembarkation. Bar staff were poverwhelmed. It took 30 minutes plus to be served and table service was non excistant. Cleaning could not keep up with the chaos and bar surfaces and bar floors were horrible. Bar prices were also increased from the longer cruise. We like celebrity but seriously need to rethink if they put their name to this hen / stag type of Holiday. Hadn’t realised I had booked a booze cruise. Went with a group of friends for a surprise 40th birthday who were all new to cruising. Drinks package included which would of been handy if you could get served. The worse cruise I’ve ever been on. No sail away party, no announcements, not enough staff, long queues to get a drink up to 45 minutes. Felt cheap and no effort put in with it just being a 2 night cruise. A lot of people try these taster cruises to get an idea about cruising so in my opinion they’re really important. Didn’t get value for money, the food was average, staff looked miserable, I witnessed guests falling out with each other at the bars because of queue jumping. Just an awful experience. The picture I had painted to my group about how wonderful cruising is was far from what we got. They won’t be back and neither will I. Grim Read Less

Boarding ship took over an hour, supervisor on smartphone, indifferent, check in lady rude & slow. Room was dirty including urine stains on toilet, towels torn and stained, bed made incorrectly. Buffet food bland, limited, tables had dirty dishes routinely up to 30 minutes. Main dining room food & service inconsistent, fish always inedible, supervisors almost non-existent. Qsine half of food inedible, Tuscany Grill food was good, service incompetent, Murano service excellent, lobster & rest tasteless, Lawn Grill was excellent. First Celebrity cruise shocked & disappointed, entertainment was first class throughout ship, every other department employees mostly rude, supervision lacking or non-existent. We have cruised HAL, Princess, MSC+ 150 days, this was our worst cruise ever. The good, we found out we are HAL people. This is all the review you will ever need to read concerning Celebrity Cruise lines. Ship is a clean, beautiful ship, a little outdated. My wife and myself have been on 40 cruises so we know cruising.Embarkation a nightmare ,it took 11/2 hours to board.!Ship left 2 hrs late and itinerary was change daily from what was described! Pro: Inside cabin larger than most, but air conditioning poor, entire ship never cooled down properly. There was not enough staff in theater, pool deck,or buffet to take drink orders, clean tables,in fact most of the time you never saw a waiter outside!Entertainment was non existent or to loud!Do not expect daily announcements,so you must keep up with activities by watching TV or at the least read daily paper.Buffet:menu was basically the same everyday, maybe one or two items changed daily, food was comparable to Golden Corral, although Golden Corral is better! Desserts were beautiful, but no flavor what so ever, lava cake a REAL JOKE! Ist night we ate in the main dinning room,I got food poisoning from Shrimp cocktail and threw up everything but my shoes, take care in eating their shrimp!!!! We decided to give the main dining a another chance on the second night, terrible!! I ordered roasted trout,my wife ordered NY Strip,I think my trout was smaller than the Goldfish in my goldfish bowl at home !My wife's steak was about 1/8"thick and around 4oz. sides was a (teaspoonful) of mashes potatoes with 3 baby carrots and a couple garnishes.,maybe enough food to satisfy my 8 year old granddaughter if she ate a dessert(wish I had taken pics.)Their main dinning menu changed very little the entire cruise.Flavor of food was OK,but actually (Golden Corral) a lot better. Other than the second night we ate entirely at the buffet. We did try their Tuscan Grill specialty restaurant for lunch on Saturday. We had their Fillet Mignon and Crab Cake appetizer.Crab Cake was excellent,Fillet was average,we asked for medium, steaks were well-done! On a ten scale I would give Celebrity a 3.Bartenders were either rude or could not understand English very well.Bar drinks were around 4 ozs. Martinis around 3 ozs. Pro:If you like hot dogs and hamburgers you are in luck. The mast grill fixes them daily, they are good but they do get old after a few days.I will say that their room service is very good but a small menu.Entertainment "Pearl' and other shows by crew was below average and way to loud, they did have "Filharmonic"a very good acapella group, comedians were BAD! If you enjoy night life, too bad, ship has very little night life.My room attendant,Dave was excellent, dining staff were fair as they gave excuses for bad food,(such as they have to prepare so many meals,do not expect the food to be right)at least that is what our waiter told us,UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!Expect to spend well over 11/2 hours for meals IN MAIN DINNING ROOM.They do have a nice seating area at pools.I could continue, but why?Disembarkation went smoothly, their better at getting you off than on.After disembarking we found that the ship had docked at a different portage about 1/2 mile from parking garage,so we enjoyed a long walk to reflect on our 40th anniversary cruise. My recommendation if you have ever cruised before is to not book Celebrity, and if it is your first or second time remember your cruise experience on any other cruise line will be an improvement! If you are 75 years old or older and want to eat bland food and sit and do nothing this is your cruise. My wife and I have traveled,CARNIVAL,ROYAL CARIBBEAN,HOLLAND AMERICA,CUNARD,PRINCESS,NORWEGIAN,DISNEY.ADMIRAL and a few lines that no longer exist.Take my advice and skip Celebrity. my travel agent at I cruise told us how great celebrity cruise line was, we usually go with Holland america and Norwegian.embarkation was a joke, it took us over 1hr. to get our room keys. we found our way to room 1512. the keys would not work.we called down to customer service, waited on hold for 1/2 hr.nobody answered. we went to customer service waited for 1&1/2 hour to get new keys. we asked the lady what amenities went with aqua class, and for a map of the ship, so we could find our way .she gave us a little folded piece of paper and walked away,we never found anything about aqua class. all we were told by peavored ople on the ship that we could go to blue dining room. my wife developed a rash on the second day, we went to the medical center, talked to a nurse, she asked my wife what she ate. the only thing we ate was food on the ship. next day she had goose bumps. went back to the medical center, she saw a doctor, he never checked blood pressure, temperature or any vitals he spent 3 minutes, gave her predisone .every in the tiny room was coughing, and she became sick. a questioner was left in our room , we filled it out and turned it in.we do not need flavored tea or hors d oeuvres in our room. they want to sell you Evian at 6 + a bottle this is ridiculous. every ship we have been on gives you ice and water.after they read our questioner they finally gave us water. the crew, servers, working people were great.the food quality was good, but the customer service poor Read Less

Our cruise, started August 11, 2017, featuring the Military Tattoo excursion in Edinburgh, Scotland. The show was great... second to none! Celebrity's inability to handle the tender service for 1,300 passengers returning from the event at ~11 PM was a complete DISASTER! It rained heavily that evening. Notwithstanding the rain, there still would have been a serious problem getting the passengers back to the ship; read on. Celebrity only had 6 tenders to handle 1,300+ passengers all returning from 11 pm to 11:30 pm. Each tender can only handle ~100 passengers per trip. It was a cold rainy night. Passengers had to wait in the rain for periods of 2.5 to 4 hours to get on the tender back to the ship. This was related purely to the insufficient number of tender vessels provided by Celebrity. No arrangement was made in advance for commercial tenders to handle this high capacity of returning passengers. The Captain advised that the full cycle time to get to and from the ship was 75 minutes. Just do the math, and one can determine that this was a plan destined to fail whether it rained or not. Certainly the ship's senior leadership could have determined this as they possessed all of the relevant facts. The majority of the attending passengers were senior citizens who were severely inconvenienced and suffered unbearable conditions waiting for the tenders. Celebrity should have either limited the number of excursion attendees, cancelled the event, or provided greater tender capacity. They knew the numbers, but failed to perform. I guess the high profit margin related to holding this event was far more important to Celebrity than passenger comfort and convenience. This failure was of such epic proportions that it unfortunately colored our view of Celebrity as a whole. Based upon the colossal failure to perform, we strongly recommend that all other passengers avoid cruising on Celebrity if they wish to attend the Edinburgh Military Tattoo event as part of their British Isles cruise. The onboard services were fine, food and service were very good, and entertainment was excellent. Our cabin steward fully satisfied our needs, and provided us with a good home away from home. I had a Baltic cruise booked back in 2014 I had to cancel Three days before sailing so when I say this cruise offered on a Celebrity Soltice class I jumped on it. The ship is a beauty from forward to aft. The ships crew where one of the best I have ever had from the Room Steward for our cabin to the waiter and assistant waiter. The dinning room could not be run without the maitre de who handled our group with such grace and professionalism. I have a food allergies so he would make sure I had the menu for the next days diner. I tend to stick to the same old meat and potatoes order but he ask if he could make a suggestion the third or so night out and after that I ordered what ever he suggested. Murano's has got to be the best Specialty Restaurant at sea the food and the service is bar none the best experience one can have at sea. The shows in the theatre where great. One can only say the ports of call on this cruise where very deversified and I am so greatful that I got to visit Russia. Read Less

Crew needs an attitude adjustment. Most of them appeared tired and did not want to be bothered. The Main Restaurant service just OK. Most of the time we had to ask for water or bread. The Captain was wonderful. His talks were the best part of the cruise. Ports of call could use a rethinking. You should try to add More stops. Shows from what I heard were not great, we tried one and gave up. The ship itself is worn out. Needs new everything. Carpet dated and most of the furniture worn or had holes all over it. The Lawn club grill was the best restaurant and we tried them all. The staff there was outstanding. Other speciality restaurants acted like they were doing you a favor. Our Cabin was well cared for by our room steward. Shore transfer was so messed up. Put luggage for early flights in truck first so those folks had to wait for their luggage till last and most missed flights. Read Less

My sister had never done the Caribbean. So, The price was great and I love Celebrity. We loved it. We tried Qsine and just loved it. Well worth the extra for a specialty restaurant. Such a fun experience! I encourage all to try it at least once. We got a promo of 20% off if we booked on the first night. Totally loved the chocolate and wine excursion in Cozumel. And can not, can not, say enough about our Falmouth Market excursion to an amazing plantation that is undergoing wonderful changes and lots of future excursions. I think it is called Good Hope..?? Fascinating to learn about their fruits, vegetables, spices, herbs and nuts that are all good and good for you. AND then to not only have one of the chefs on our tour, but then to have a private dinner later on board, prepared by two of the special chefs to create a true and authentic Jamaican dinner. Almost forgot a very private tour of the galley while lobster and beef wellington were being severed. Unbelievably otchestrated. I will be talking about this for months to come. Thank you, Celebrity for offering this special and unique excursion.. Almost forgot about the silent disco. Celebrity is way ahead of the others. Headphones that have three frequencies/types of music with three different colors denoted on the head phones. Everyone dances to their own music, but not a sound is heard by others. YMCA was a hoot. So much fun! Great idea?. Main dining food is, in my opinion, the best. Always excellent food. Embarkation AND disembarkation were a breeze. They have cone a long way! Wondeful cruise. Celebrity is and continues to ge my first choice.. Read Less

I chose the cruise due to the itinerary, what I didn't factor in was the disasterous on and off loading of passengers at port. I've never been on a cruise, that had so few crew involved in the going ashore process. On good days, we were able to leave the ship in 30 minutes, on tender days, it could take 2 hours, or more to get into town and hours to return, and on the last port day, those who chose to get out early were treated to a near riot to get on the cruise port shuttle. I was elbowed in the ribs and continuously pushed out of the way until a man could get his fellow tour group on to to the port shuttle bus. Confusion was the norm, told to go to one area to board, then another, In Edinburgh, we were told that tender tickets would be disbursed at 0930, I figured I'd go early to get them at 0915, I was surprised not to see a queue...but, the staff had already started giving them out..the usual laissez faire attitude we encountered over and over. Priority in all ports was given to those who booked Celebrity shore excursions, only. Anyone wishing to go ashore independently, was made to wait until those on Celebrity tours had departed, I have never experienced this phenomenon on any cruise, including prior Celebrity cruises...It all boils down to understaffing on shore days. But, they were sure to have someone trying to sell something at the end of every queue... It wasn't all bad. The cabin attendants were courteous, and the cabin was cleaned immaculately. And some of the staff were lovely. But, lack of sleep, and hours wasted every shore day, waiting, waiting, waiting put a pall over the trip. I've sailed on the Silhouette before and had an exceptional cruise, Celebrity needs to retrain their staff and return to their previous standards of quality, courtesy, and competency. Read Less

This was my 5th cruise, 4th with Celebrity and first time on the Silhouette. I couldn't believe the Main Dinning room's menu never changed during these couple years. Also the 14/F buffet was lousy! The bathroom and parts of the public area smelled very bad. The odour came from the bathroom pipes and drainage system as the ship is not well maintained. The staff needs to be trained before serving the customers. They don't treat you like a " Guest " and are also very impolite. One of the staff asked my daughter " Do you EVEN speak English ? " My daughter is born and well educated in Canada. The iLounge staff service were very unhelpful and rude. Especially because they show you the attitude that " WE ONLY WORK HERE. THIS IS NONE OF OUR BUSINESS. DON'T BOTHER US AT ALL." They made us feel unwelcome. I really don't know why Celebrity would hire their staff to ruin their reputation. Read Less

We have no pleasure in writing any reviews of any kind but we felt so let down by Celebrity Cruises. Pre Embarkation was a farce to say the least. The Uk Customer services team are in my opinion not to good. When you try and make a call about a reservation you are left on hold for at least half an hour each time. Promised call backs never happened etc etc.-It really is very poor. Embarkation was ok and off we went. We have been on many many cruises and have never missed a sail away on any cruise. The Muster Drill concluded just as we were sailing past the beach on the Port side at Lauderdale--a small thing but was just the start of the cruise from hell. When spending circa £5000 for a 7 night cruise you expect a certain quality, service and a seamless experience. When on a cruise ship you don,t have the freedom to get off the ship to go for dinner. You would therefore hope and expect the food quality to be of a 5 star standard irrespective of the number of diners. This is sadly not the case. When booking this cruise we looked at the lovely images of the food in the main dining room on the Celebrity website. Unfortunately the actual food in the main dining room is extremely poor. I noticed another reviewer likened it to school dinners. In my opinion it is much worse than this. We flagged this up to guest services and were called by the Maitre De who promised us that this would be addressed. Unfortunately it got worse and we never heard from the elusive Maitre De again. So with our young family we were forced to eat in the buffet restaurant where the chefs are extremely friendly but unfortunately the serving staff are not. We later learned from a waiter that the crew morale on the ship was rock bottom--it showed!! In my opinion having sailed for the last 15 years is that the introduction of drinks packages to entice people on to the "mega ships" has been so very much detrimental to service. It attracts a certain crowd that the crews on these mega ships basically have to endure day after day drinking themselves into a stupor to get their "moneys worth". The ports in general were very much like any port around the world--sell, sell sell, coffee shops with free wifi and an assortment of bars. The one positive on this ship is the "kids club". Extremely well run, organised and a great place for children. These ladies deserve a medal. Great great service. We forgot to leave a tip and have tried to organise this through customer services uk--guess what no call back yet--5 days and counting!!! If you are thinking of booking a Med Cruise this year I would not recommend this ship in particular and Celebrity in general. There is far better service, value for money on other lines operating in the Med. I,m not sure if anybody from Celebrity reads these reviews (you would hope so) but you really need to sort out your service and food!! Read Less

Check in very good and essentially very fast. Then the sell between check in and the ship?? Do we want a photograph was asked at least 3 times?? Beverage package--twice?? Dinner package 3 times?? Internet package only once?? It resembles walking through an Egyptian market constantly being harassed by traders. Dinner at Grand Cuvee reminded us of disorganised school dinners. Average wait at the entrance for at least 15 minutes before being seated. Seated next to dirty empty tables for duration of meal. Food quality dreadful. How did they get it so wrong. Service ok if you enjoy being called "Boss" constantly and are willing to wait half an hour for the incorrect drinks order to be served. This restaurant is a disaster. Room Service again very poor. Wrong orders always delivered and wait times are plus 1 hour on average. Room Attendant--Do a good job but are always lingering that little bit too long waiting for a tip. Bar--Hit or miss. To be served on the deck bars is a feat in itself. The bar tenders have absolutely no concept of how to serve a relatively busy bar. It seemed to us that the people who shouted the loudest got served? The Gym. The person who designed a gym on a cruise ship that sails in sunny climes that has surround glass windows should in my humble opinion be committed. The green house effect comes to mind. This is probably the hottest indoor area of the ship and in my opinion is a major health and safety issue. Trying to run a 10k on a treadmill is probably best described as doing a run through the Sahara with no water. I could go on but I will rest my case at that. The ship is nice if not fairly small in comparison to the mega ships. We though that by cruising Celebrity after our last sailing on Anthem the service element should be far better. Unfortunately not. It seems that the ever declining service ethos in RCCL is spreading to its so called "premium brand" What a shame! Read Less

Recently ten friends and I sailed on the Celebrity silhouette. They offered a deal called pick your perks,we chose the beverage package, at what we thought threw booking with a celebrity cruises customer service rep was an all inclusive beverage package. We found out the second day of the cruise we were charged for all the alcohole we drank. The package the y gave us was actually call the classic beverage package, and was informed at the customer service desk it included certain vodka and not others, certain rum and not other ect,it would have been nice to have this told to us before we got on the ship. Well over a hundred dollars they got from me on drinks that day. Threw the entire cruise we felt nickel and dimed to death. The buffet food was the same everyday, the food was below standard, service was exceptionally bad we finished our food normally before anybody waited on us to give us drinks.we we're constantly hounded to go to specialty restraunts with staff waiting outside the buffet. I could go on and on about the disappointment in that area. The first two days we were at sea they closed the casino and bars early and basically put us to bed. We never saw our room attendant except for the first day when she told us they couldn't find our luggage. The best thing about this cruise was getting off the ship at ports. The service was unbelievably horrid! The last day I bought a watch supposivly seventy- five percent off. It cost 175.00 so I bought it thought it was beautiful and a good deal. I checked the price online when I got home it cost retail at over five stores 75 bucks. Need I say more. I will be sticking with princess with who I've sailed five times now and had excellent service. I love cruising it really took a lot to ruin our vacation, But Celebrity and their staff managed to do that! I don't normally complain but if I'm able to help anybody else out there this is worth it Oh and let me add they had everybody who was walking off the ship at the end of the cruise carry their luggage down three flights of steps, what a joke! We just finished the Celebrity Silhouette's re-positioning cruise from Rome to Ft Lauderdale - 31 October to 15 November 2015. It was my and my travel companions first time on Celebrity. It is our last. The ship is beautiful and our balcony room was spacious, but that is where the compliments end. This ship nickels and dimes you to death. Activities, such as the Apple Seminars, which on other cruise line are complimentary, cost $10.00. May not seem like much, but after 14 days on a ship out in the middle of the Atlantic with a class daily, it can get costly. We opted for "My Time Dining" because the 5:45 PM seating is too early, especially if you are in port until 8:00 or 9:00 PM and the 8:30 seating is too late. We were never seated when we wanted to be and on an average waited at least 45 minutes for a table. One night we did show up early, about 6:00 because we had planned on going to the show. Well we didn't get to see the show and waited over 2 hours for a table that night. Once you got a table, you never knew if you ordered was what you were going to get. Without exception, the kitchen made substitutions to the menu daily that the wait staff never mentioned. I was just lucky I don't have any serious food allergies. The ship also discriminates against Christians. There were "Sabbath" services on Friday's for the Jewish passengers, but no Christian, Protestant or Catholic services. I thought this rather strange when I didn't see it on the schedule so I called "Guest Relations". The confirmed that the did not offer any kind of Christian services. The bars were the biggest rip off on the ship. The same cocktail would cost different prices at different bars and at the same bar with different bartenders. The offer their "Captain's Club" members at the Elite level a free beverage from well stock, house wine and beers each night for two hour. There are special glasses (smaller size) that they use for this purpose. However, unless you were attentive, they would try to slip you the smaller glass when you were paying for the drink. They never served wine in a proper glass, i.e. serving red wine in a white wine glass. The shops, particularly, the high end jewelry stores, touted that the were "duty free and tax free shopping". Wrong again. My cabin mate purchased a Tag Heuer watch and a diamond ring. He specifically asked before the purchase both times and the sales woman "Christina" assured him they were both duty free and tax free. He was promptly detained like a criminal as we left the ship by a ships officer and a customs agent who took his passport. One and a half hours later and $140.00 poorer, he was allowed to leave. I found it strange that the Captain made an announcement at the beginning of the cruise and kept repeating it for the duration...."we are not a cruise ship, we are a floating resort". Well they didn't get either one right as far as I am concerned. This is my second crossing and I have lost count on the number of cruises I have taken otherwise. So this review is just not sour milk, it is based upon previous experiences. I will never take Celebrity again and will not recommend them to anyone. Read Less
