We chose this cruise having previously done 3 cruises with celebrity, including one on this ship, plus the free classic drinks package was an incentive. We were a group of 6 - my husband and I, our son and his girlfriend plus my in laws. Anytime dining is a joke, it’s anytime they want you to dine. The restaurant hostess was very unfriendly and rude. This ship cannot cope with the number of guests who wish to dine anytime, Princess are sooooo much better. The wait staff in all the bars are slow, not enough staff on duty. The classic drinks package included drinks up to 9 dollars a glass, yet none of the menus in any of the bars included drinks to this vale, all started at 10 or 11 dollars. I soon found you had to specifically ask for a Sauvignon Blanco included in the drinks package. While the food was excellent, the cabins spacious- Princess have better storage though, the whole celebrity experience was a disappointment. They continually try to rip you off. Read Less

We have been with Celebrity on numerous occasions in the past, but I think this will be the last. We expected something special especially as it was over Christmas & New Year, and frankly it was mediocre on a number of fronts. Food, Service & Cleanliness could not be faulted. Island Visits were very much as we expected and have experienced before Entertainment & Celebrations for time of year, drab, sub standard and inferior to other ships. The on deck singers sang the same four songs consistently every day, and the on board entertainment team are delusional if they think that the shows are up to Las Vegas & Broadway standards as was suggested by the Cruise Director. An ex singer from Les Miserables, Frankie Valli tribute band & a Mowtown Trio were the only 3 acts who came close to what we have come to expect from other cruise liners including Celebrity. Absolute lack of accountability!!!!! More than 60 hours on the phone to celebrity even before our cruise..over 40 of those hours were on hold! most times, wait to talk to one person and get put back on hold while you are transferred to someone else. When the price of our cabin/cruise dropped, went through 3 transfers before finally getting a representative that said she would not give our refund, but would get onboard credit for the difference..just had to be approved by her support team..but they were all in a meeting. She promised they would call back as soon as they were done. But a week later, and still no call! So, we had to call again, and got put on hold...again..and had to explain everything ..again..and got put on hold.. Again.. Finally told that the difference was now an onboard credit. And, for the inconvenience, we would get free specialty dining and told to make our selection/reserva tion riight away as it filled up fast. But, as soon as we did, our account was charged! So, we called back..again.. And got put on hold...again!!! Now we were told that it is up to the ship if they will honor the voucher we were getting..we'd have to ask (beg) when we actually boarded! No thank you..please just cancel we said. But they REFUSED! She said she could't do that! So we requested a supervisor..who again REFUSED!! Again told she would not do that! I can't make this up folks..out of the twilight zone!!! When we called back the next day, again put on hold..then again explained everything all over again! Then this agent put us on hold..again..while she explained it all to someone in another department..but we were not allowed to talk to him! When she finally came back on the line..over 20 minutes later, she asked when we had initially called, and put us back on hold..again! This went on for over an hour, and finally male supervisor got on the line..said he would cancel the reservations, and restore the funds to our account, and send our boarding passes..that had been promised weeks before. But, of course, those funds were not restored, and no boarding passes either. So, we had to call..again... and got put on hold..again! It took 3 more transfers to finally get someone to put the money back in our account..and still no boarding passes. Now just a week before our cruise, we called again.. And the recording said the wait time was less than 5 minutes. It was over 40 minutes later that a male finally answered..yes, he could see in the notes that they were supposed to have sent boarding passes, but no, they weren't sent. He promised to send them right out. but when they still didn't arrive, now 4 days before our cruise, we are in panic. We called..again. and, got put on hold..again. Over an hour later, their agent admonished that we were too late now!!!! Then she chewed that we didn't need boarding passes,,she never uses them! (Absolutely going against all of our previous directions! ) Who do you believe? Who at celebrity even knows? Such a mess, and so many different stories! Nobody is accountable! The day of the cruise, had to get up by 2 am to make escot connection for Port Everglades/Ft. Lauderdale. But the bus was not allowed to stop in any of the empty spaces in front of the terminal. Instead we were sent all the way around the side of this large building to a back corner and dumped in an alley! Ankle deep street water in the middle of a thunderstorm! And that is where our luggage was offloaded as well. Absolutely no protection, covering, canopy, tent, or even tarp! Buses, taxi cabs, cars, trucks speeding by within inches of where we had to step off the bus! It was over 100 ft back to the (only) terminal entrance..our clothes, shoes, bags, everything absolutely soaked! And now we had to go to several counters because computers were down, and we had no boarding passes!!!! At lunch on our 4th day, a bone in the chicken salad cut my mouth open, as witnessed by the maitr'd ..who got a plate to take the bone to the chef..and napkin for the bleeding. The very next day..the lamb pot pie had an even bigger very sharp bone that lodged in my gums and front teeth. it took a lot to even finally pry it out..again same maitr'd was right there and got a plate to take the bone to the chef..and napkins for the bleeding..but there was no dentist on board..just a doctor. When i got back home to my dentist, xrays prove my front tooth is chipped! On our next to last day, i was out on the veranda enjoying the morning view. It had rained, and was windy. As i was sitting at the little table, something hit me in the head! It was a piece from the big pipe at the top corner! i went to lay down right away, and told the cabin stewards when they came. Also told the supervisor that was just outside our cabin. At our last port, my cabin mate lost his (plastic) room key, so we waited at guest relations to get another one. But then mine didn't work. So I had to go back and forth, up and down to guest relations three more times. The last time i was told that whatever I was doing, if it didn't work that time, i'd have to get an electrician! On our last evening, we put our luggage outside our cabin door, exactly as we were told to do, for their porters to transport to the terminal. But the next morning when we got to the terminal, my big suitcase (part of a set) had been destroyed! The bottom was ripped open, all the way through all materials and into the clothes! The entire mounting/wheel assembly and the wheel were completely missing. Gone! There was no staff to be seen. Completely unable to roll the suitcase, it had to be carried. i asked the uniformed staff at the end of the line (where everyone was) what to do, and was told to (later) call celebrity! When we got outside, and had to wait for the bus again, we had to cross the street, still carrying that huge suitcase without wheels! An hour and a half later, two buses showed up. we went to the first one, and were told that we had to go to the other bus. After we got the rest of the suitcases and bags..and went back for the other big suitcase that had to be carried (sans wheel) and finally got on the bus ourselves..another agent came on and told us all we had to get back off!!!! There was another bus coming for us but it was delayed! Again, dragged all the bags and suitcases, And the one without wheels, back across the street again! another bus showed up eventually..and we finally got all of the bags and suitcases and the one without wheel, loaded..and got on board ourselves..finally! but the bus had so many other piers/docks to stop, we got further and further behind! we were about 3 hours behind schedule when we finally left Ft. Lauderdale. Our driver called to let his dispatcher know that he would not be able to complete our trip as he would run over the 10 hour maximum driving time -federal law. So, another driver was sent, but we had to stop and wait for him to show up. We ended up hitting rush hour traffic. It was after dark when we finally got back to our drop off, and then another 2 hour drive home! Kicked out of our cabin so early so rooms can be cleaned for the next passengers, it made a terribly long and exhausting day! but, bright and early, as directed, i called celebrity to make the report... and got put on hold. again. After more transfers, an agrnt took all of the details, and she had me send the pictures right away. i kept sending emails to confirm that she had recieved everything..latervin the day, she finally emailed back that yes she had. and we waited. Finally, almost a week later, she asked me who else i told about the suitcase that was destroyed..and about the bones in the food, and the falling debris on the verandah..etc. She then had the audacity to tell me that i should have asked somebody else at the terminal! There was nobody else, and no signs for direction either! Further, I didn't get killed by the pipe..it was just the coating! it still caused bruising and it hurt, and scared the heck out of me! NO, NO, NO...absolutely NO accountability!!! then she said that as a good will jesture, she was prepared to give me a $50 on board credit on a future cruise! so maybe next time they could kill me..or at least blind me with flying debris! HOW INSULTING! Thinking maybe higher ups didn't know of this shameful conduct, I wrote a detailed letter to c.e.o. Over 2 weeks later, same agent called/left a message that she had JUST received the pictures she already acknowledged she had received the month before. she said i should call her so we could discuss the matters. But, each time i called, and got put on hold..again..she was not available! She finally messaged that she had changed hours, and she would be in her office/available for the rest of the day..to 9 pm. But when i called just after 5, the young male that finally answered said she was not there! He even said that she was supposed to be there, schudiled to be there, but she wasn't!!! ENOUGH! Absolutely no accountability!!!! i did send a follow up letter to c.e.o. . just over a week later, i received a call from the executive office.. previous agent was no longer on the case. now told that the debris/material that fell on me was not the pipe itself, and there was a doctor for my tooth... So they would only do the $50 for destroying the suitcase! (not even anything for the clothes..to say nothing of the inconveniences!!!!) our first celebrity cruise was our last!!! to think we waited and dreamed all these years.. We finally got to retire, and everything was just ruined by celebrity. People who refused to do their jobs!! people who lied to us, and people who put our lives at risk! why we saw MEDICAL EXAMINER van at our pier! we did one..and done! Never, NEVerrrrr, NEVER again!!!!!!! PS; have to put one star to submit the review..but it should be ZERO! Read Less

Beautiful ship but not many activities for anyone under 70. My wife and I have been loyal Royal Caribbean cruisers for the past 10+ years and we had heard that Celebrity was even more luxurious so we thought that we'd give them a try. However, based on what we observed and experienced over 12 days, Celebrity feels more like a seniors home on the water than a vibrant vegas style resort. The state rooms are quite similar, as are the dining rooms and specialty restaurants, however, that's where the similarities end. While RCI offers climbing walls, zip lines and flow riders, Celebrity counters with bean bag toss, water zumba, and bocce ball on the lawn. And the quality and variety of the evening entertainment is also vastly different with RCI offering high end broadway performances and after hours comedy clubs while Celebrity caters more towards Frankie Valli era sing-alongs. Bottom line, we won't sail with Celebrity again for at least another 15-20 years, but if you're already over 70, you'll love it. Read Less

My husband and I generally try to cruise the Caribbean at this time each year as a getaway from the cold northeast and the pre-holiday hustle and bustle. This was a wonderful cruise. The ship was beautiful (of course). Embarkation was very quick. We arrived at the port and were on board within about 5 minutes (10:30 AM port arrival). As we arrived at the port the heavens opened up in a torrential downpour (More about that later in the review). Celebrity personnel quickly put up canopies and escorted guests across the deck to interior ship spaces with hand held umbrellas held by staff members who were unselfishly getting soaked while keeping passengers dry. Kudos to them! Once onboard we were bombarded with staff hawking specialty dining options, beverage package upgrades, spa services and the like to a degree we've never seen on any of our many X cruises and with what seemed almost like desperation. This did last for the first 2 days of the cruise. We've seen the upselling on other cruises, but never to this level. Upselling has never bothered us before, we just walk by and they leave us alone, but this was VERY annoying. We went to the OVC to await our rooms being ready and the staff were exceptional about finding seats for us. Since is was pouring out, no outside venues were being utilized so it did become crowded quickly. The buffet, as always offered lots of choices and by the time we finished our lunch, the skies had cleared and rooms were ready. We were in an Aqua Class stateroom and our luggage came almost immiediately. When I opened my suitcase I found that all the items within that were near the bottom of the case were soaked even though the suitcase itself was dry (weird I know). I assume that the deluge when we embarked and my suitcase had an unfortunate meeting in a large puddle (read as lake!). I went down to Guest Services and after some negotiation they agreed to launder and dry clean all of the soaked items complimentary. Quite a few other passengers had the same issue. The dining in Blu was as good as usual. We love the breakfasts especially and the service in Blu was exceptional this trip. Our waiter, Michael (who we met in OVC on embarkation day) was excellent. He got to know our preferences almost immediately and had a great sense of humor. This was however the first cruise in Aqual Class that required us to wait with a beeper almost every night at least 10-15 minutes for a table, regardless of our arrival time. (We tended to dine at 8PM or later most evenings). The CD, Sue Denning was a hoot, very visable, very talented and also stopped to engage with passengers all over the ship. She even crazily did the mile walk in her signature stilletos (can't figure any reason other than humor)!. The guest entertainment was better than average. The three production shows (never my cup of tea) were pleasant and the ships entertainers were talented. The show Pearl, came with almost an apologetic explanation of it's ridiculous non-plot by Sue, but the music, dancing and singing were passable. The guest lecturers were interesting. There was a change of Master that occured the fourth day of the cruise while we ported in St. Maarten. We became aware of this that afternoon when the voice from the bridgte changed and the new Master introduced himself with no explanation. We've honestly never seen a Master change four days into a cruise. We were pleasantly surprised on this cruise to see pool butlers actually policing the chair hogs and placing warning cards on chairs that were vacant and then removing personal items and towels from chairs after 30 minutes of vacancy. This was a refreshing change and made the pool area very usable. Read Less

We wanted to see the islands in the southern Caribbean and we wanted to try a Celebrity cruise, since we'd heard and read that this was a great line. The crew members were great and the holiday decorations, especially the staircase, were fantastic. Plus, we had perfect cruise weather. This cruise was just average. We cruise because we like seeing new places, dining out every night and having live entertainment in the evening. We've been on about 12 cruises on several lines and last year's 10 night Princess cruise was far better than this one. The food was above average, in my opinion. But the main dining rooms were so crowded and noisy that we couldn't enjoy dining in them. We used the dining room on only 4 of 12 nights. We used the buffet every other night because at least we could have a conversation that way. But we didn't choose an upscale cruise because we wanted to eat in the cafeteria. Our cabin was okay. It had a balcony, but it had less storage than some oceanview cabins we've had on other lines, the mattress was uncomfortable, and so was the sofa. The bath towels were a disgrace - they actually hurt to use because they were so rough. We like room service for early coffee, especially with a veranda, but Celebrity's room service was awful. The coffee was cold and the pastries were stale; no plates, one napkin. We didn't bother trying it again. The theater entertainment was mixed. Several acts were very good, some were okay and one, the "impersonator", was offensive. The man made inappropriate comments about almost everyone except Donald Trump and he actually groped his own crotch at one point. By far the most tasteless "performance" I've ever seen; Celebrity should be ashamed to present someone like that. We'd have left but we were stuck in the middle of a row. We enjoyed the ports and and the the people living there. We'd planned to try specialty restaurants but didn't because, frankly, we felt pressured to spend from the moment we boarded and we got tired of that. We found the outdoor areas crowded even on port days and impossible on sea days (there were 4) and the inside areas were always very cold. We won't be going on another Celebrity cruise. Read Less

We have cruised with RCCL's brands lines many times and we have always enjoyed our time on their ships. This trip with Celebrity was no exception. Embarkation was quick and painless. We had an inside cabin which we found very spacious, clean and comfortable. The ship itself shows a few signs of aging, but was clean and functional. Entertainment was cruise ship average, but the cruise director Sue did a great job! I have to point out that our main reason for cruising is the quality of food and service and we were not disappointed. We did use any time dining and for the first few days it was very difficult to get seated (they hand out pagers), but after day 3 it seamed to ease off. We also felt that the service -although still good when compared to other ships - has declined with staff having to take care of more tables than in the past. The food itself was top notch. The soups were hot and salads were crisp. Fantastic onion soup which we enjoyed every day. Great croissants too, some the largest we've ever seen Read Less

We love Celebrity. We got upgraded to Aqua Class on our 1st cruise and rebook the same every time. The entertainment this trip wasnt the best. I have heard MUCH better vocalist, seen bettter dancers, magicians on talent shows like Americas Got Talent. They brought in an act “Sept 63” a Four Seasons cover group. Just 3 of them and the dance moves were very amateurish. The lead singer sounded like Alvin of the chipmunks. When they first came on I though it was a comedy routine. My husband was tweaking his hearing aid because he thought it was the hearing aid causing the guys voice to sound like that. The staff are very courteous, polite and eager to please. There are always some outstanding like Claudia in Blu was a bubbly cheerful person. She made you smile just with her presence. Our wine steward in Blu was also great. Again, in Blu, our waiter John was awesome also. The activities director Sue was not my cup of tea is the best comment I shall leave on that subject. We missed the Hot Glass Show they have on some of their ships. They need to provide a little more for people to do for free besides dance lessons, trivia, ball games in the pool. They did have a mystery writer give a talk but just not more things to do on sea days. Bingo is expensive and if you played every day that would be very pricey! We had a brand new lady on embarkation and she had no idea what to do. Locked up her computer and had to go get someone to unlock it. Couldnt find our cabin number on our boarding pass husband had to show her. Dont turn them loose if they are not ready yet! Please! Read Less

Just returned from a 9 day on Celebrity Silhouette, sailed 11/30/18. Can't believe the decline in service and overall experience from Celebrity. This must have been a training session or else they pulled all competent bartenders and food service employees to the EDGE. Could not get a drink at pool deck at all, most bartenders clueless as to how to make a basic drink, no plates at Oceanview cafe as well as dismal service in this venue. My attempt to speak to "suits" got me nowhere. One of my favorite venues is Cafe Bacio, again almost always the order was wrong. If Celebrity is trying to push Edge at the expense of the other ships, they are making a big mistake, The bright spots on the trip were the entire staff of Blue, all were amazing, our cabin steward was great and we found a great bartender who was skilled and friendly! Our conversation with other guests told of nightmares in the main dining room, long waits and poor service. I became elite on this cruise but am seriously considering options after this cruise. We've been on many cruises over the last 45 years. Most of our recent cruises have been on Celebrity. We generally find Celebrity provides good service, good food and ports. We had already sailed on Silhouette a couple years ago in Europe and loved everything! The food was phenomenal! Pros of this sailing (Inside Room) Excellent service from Room Steward. Always greeted us by name in the halls and kept our room clean and always supplied with soap, shampoo, etc. The shows were all excellent. The ship was beautifully appointed and always clean. We liked the ports A B C Islands & Grand Cayman There were interesting guest speakers. Cons The food in the main dining room was fantastic the first couple nights and then went completely downhill from there. Had salmon that was grey instead of pink and inedible. The same night, my husband had another type of fish and it was inedible too. While we know we could return it and get something else, the other selections were not appetizing at all. The poor selections went on for several nights. Steak was good on one night like filet mignon. After that, like shoe leather. We've had some great dining experiences on Celebrity, but this trip was like going to a mediocre diner. On sea days, there wasn't much to do if you weren't into sports or drinking! We were always being up sold. Asked constantly to go to Specialty Restaurants. Even waitress in dining room was offering special deals in Specialty dining rooms. Pushing beverage packages. Read Less
