Our reason for choosing this cruise was 2 part. Small Ship & New Horizons. This leg involved joining the ship at Valparaiso, Chile continuing to Guayaquil, Ecuador. French food was an added attraction. As 2 people in our 70's we do not try to do the impossible, and the excursion choices allowed us to stay within our limits without difficulty. For example, on this leg we chose the Flight over the ...
My wife and I chose this cruise because of the small number of passengers, French cuisine, wines and other drinks included, good comments from friends who have sailed on Ponant. Our expectations were met.
Also liked the access to the bridge and information provided on the navigation from the officers.
The professionalism of the crews of the Zodiacs was noted and welcomed.
The ability to ...
It's not until you stand in front of a elephant seal or surrounded by penguins that you realise how extraordinary is the experience on this ship. Then you return to the ship to superb luxury, warmth and friendly service.
The captain literally took the ship to places where no Ponant ship had been before. We stood on an iceflow and drank champagne with the ship's bow above us. We navigated ...
We took the August 2 – August 16, 2016 Abercrombie and Kent tour of the Arctic. This is our second time on the ship as we also sailed in December 2012 with the Abercrombie and Kent tour of Antarctica. Many of the ship crew (and staff) were the same as the previous tour. We found the crew, staff and A&K to be exceptional and excellent choices for delivering a tour that is very dynamic, flexible ...
What an amazing adventure.
Embarked at Stockholm after a couple of days on our own exploring the city- the experience was totally seamless and the crew were there to meet us and make us feel so Welcome
The accommodation was just beautiful and it didn't matter what we asked for nothing was too much trouble. Food was outstanding and the entertainment was great
We touched several ports ...
This particular cruise was the transportation/living accommodations from an alumni organization trip booked by my husband (whom I love dearly but didn't do much research on what the trip entailed).
Instead of a small group, the ship was under charter by Gohagan as the agent for alumni organization consortium travel. This meant 240 in the "small group."
The ship itself is clean, neat and ...
My husband and I normally like to spend our holidays in a warm climate so this choice of Alaska was a huge gamble - we loved the whole experience!
We were met at Vancouver Airport and transported by light aircraft to Nome, way up in the north of Alaska. Before being taken to the ship by school bus, we were treated to a marvellous dog sled demonstration and some gold fossicking.
Our cabin on ...
I cruised on Le Boreal as part of a chartered Abercrombie and Kent expedition including The Falkland Islands, South Georgia, and the Antarctic peninsula in Dec 14/Jan 15.
There are many reasons to select Le Boreal/A&K for this adventure:
* Itinerary: every other expedition in this category and with these stops is 20+ days. This was 17, and was certainly not too short. It hit all the highlights ...
I choose the ship and trip expecting to be fed interesting French cusine rather than the typical steam table cardboard. Apparently quite a number of the other guests expected the same and were as disapointed as I was.
Breakfasts and lunches were typical shipboard fare, pleasantly presented and abundant. Bacon at breakfast was tasteless and rubbery, difficult to chew.
Soups at lunch and dinner ...
Portsmouth to Caen (D-Day area) to Dublin - Wales - Belfast - Scottish Isles - Glasgow. Overall very pleased with the ship and Gohagan Travel. I will comment on a previous reviewer: (Note - this cruise was various US and Canada alumni associations - so we ALL spoke English)
" we found the crew and officers alike extremely friendly and helpful." Agree 100%.
" A good sized cabin with a king size ...
