I purchased a 7 day package for 2 hotel stays and a 3 day cruise for $1100.00 with meals included and the upgrades. Stateroom with a window, hotel room facing the ocean, getting a larger stateroom, plus they threw in 2 weekend stays in Mexico and Las Vegas but the airfare made it too pricey for me to use these extras. That was 3 years ago but I became ill and couldn't go immediately so I paid $59.00 to extend the trip for a year and then a second time. I was about ready to forfeit the trip entirely when my daughter offered to accompany me and help me maneuver with my disability. I was thrilled to finally be able to go. Well, I want to report that we just got back and actually had a fantastic time in spite of the negatives. We flew to Ft. Lauderdale where we stayed at a 4 star hotel and was given 3 excellent meals a day. Here's the catch. We had to attend a timeshare presentation which when I booked the trip, I was told would only last half an hour. I had no intention of buying a timeshare, but felt it was worth it to sit through a high pressure sales pitch because I am very good at saying "no" and the trip was so affordable for me. Taking a cruise was always on my bucket list. The second day we drove to the presentation location in our free rental car which was a brand new red Nissan compact (which, by the way, the rental agent tried to talk us into upgrading to a larger size because this one would be way too small for our needs. We both drive Mazda compacts so that size was perfect for us and explained that to him, but he kept insisting the entire time that we were getting a bad car. It was very annoying, but I knew he was only doing his job so it was just a minor snag). We loved the car. It met all of our needs. Back to Ft. Lauderdale and the "half an hour" presentation. We honestly thought we were going to be sitting in a room and watch a film about the facility and how great it was and then, somehow, be pressured into buying it and I would say "no". End of story. Upon arrival, we were assigned to a personal real estate agent who took us out for a free breakfast at a very nice diner. We were given carte blanche to choose our meal. I didn't get too greedy but ordered a healthy breakfast which was delicious. We then went back to the facility to listen to her spiel. She was a nice person and fun to talk to so we didn't realize time was going by until we looked at our watches and realized we had been there over 3 hours until finally she took us to see the apartment. It was lovely and new and in a nice building with a pool. There were 3 other parties there looking as well. The decorating was nice (not my taste) and they had a towel swan on the bed which was a cute touch since I had never seen one before. I was not really blown away with the apartment. We went back and the real pitch began explaining costs and places we could use it and what a wonderful opportunity it would be to be able to have travel all over the world and save so much money on hotel costs. Yes, yes, yes, all true, but the answer was still going to be "no". We were done and tired and ready for lunch and tried leaving but she insisted we just stay a few minutes longer to talk to her manager who offered to give us a better deal. "No?" OK let me call on my manager so we could get a foreclosure for such a bargain price that it was hard for any person to refuse. But the answer was still "no" and could we leave now and get our cruise voucher validated. We were kind of stuck since we knew we would be refused the cruise if we didn't listen. Finally, they gave up and let us go to receive our voucher but a lady from "corporate" sat us down and gave us the final pitch and by then we almost walked out and didn't care if we were going on a cruise or not. But then we escaped with a firm "no" and we reached the exit door and there, a nice woman gave us all of our paperwork to board the ship and a meal voucher good for 3 free meals a day for 2 days. Whew, finally. OK, on to the hotel. It was a 5 star luxury hotel and we were thrilled. We went to have lunch which was a delicious buffet. But first we had to stop at the Welcome Center to have our cruise voucher validated and told that we had to listen to a 90 minute presentation so we wouldn't have to wait on line to board the ship. The next day we listened to another presentation but this was to join a travel club which she kept repeating that they were a private company and not affiliated with the cruise company. At that point, my daughter offered to take over and get us the hell out of there. So she convinced the lady to speed things up because we weren't buying a thing and just wanted our VIP pass so we wouldn't have to wait on the line to board the ship. But she had to finish her spiel and had to call her boss over who was a very unpleasant person but we finally were able to leave. We were given our VIP pass and proud of ourselves since we survived the more than 6 hours of sales presentations and on to our cruise. Surprisingly, when we boarded the ship, our VIP pass was meaningless because there was no line. Oh well, our bad. The ship was beautiful. Our room was small but very clean and modern with a nice decor. We had a window which I had upgraded to when I purchased the package. We spent 2 nights cruising, eating free food, and saw a show and my daughter went dancing. All in all, a very positive experience. We landed on the Grand Bahama island and were driven to our 5 star resort hotel which was right on the ocean and I can't even explain to you how beautiful it was. We thought we died and went to heaven. My daughter did some swimming in the ocean. I rested. We were being charged for meals, which surprised me because I could have sworn I had been offered free meals in the hotel, but not on the island but the representative said I would have to talk to customer service when I got home. Fine, still tolerable for what we were experiencing at the moment. I knew there would be unforseen expenses once we got there. Some fun souvenir shopping, a bus tour (which was extra) and a fine gourmet meal at one of the restaurants on the island (extra, of course). 2 glorious days later and back to the ship for 1 night. We did some eating and buying souvenirs in the gift shop. We arrived on dry land and picked up our car which was free except for gas and parking fees and then drove 3 hours to Orlando, the last leg of our trip and we had plans to go to Universal studios. When we arrived at the very nice Ramada, we were informed that there was yet another 90 minute presentation we had to sit through in order to get the free room and board. Now, both of us were furious because a "promised" half an hour presentation had added up to 10 hours of listening to all these people trying to make a sale. I felt sorry for them, but also felt sorry for us. Yes, we were duped, but we knew we would have to listen to a hard sell sales pitch as part of the package. But for only a 1/2 hour. I had purchased a dream trip was willing to endure a little sales pressure but 6 plus hours was not what I had been promised. So when we sat down with the last lady, we became ruthless. We set a timer for 90 minutes, lectured her that we would never purchase a timeshare from this company for all the deception they presented to us for luring us into making a purchase. They had broken our trust and we thought the entire company was a bunch of scammers and why would we ever do business with this company ever again. Buzzer went off, "Time's up" and we shocked the lady that we were actually able to stop her in mid sentence and leave. She sent over her manager to no avail and we left feeling pretty proud of ourselves for handling the situation with dignity and respect for the poor woman who was only doing her job. Why didn't we think of this sooner? Would we ever do it again? Never in a million years and I would advise people to book their trip with any other company than this one if they had no interest in buying a time share and even if they did. Their unscrupulous methods are not illegal but should be. For us, we had a memorable experience and I'd say it was pleasurable and we laughed at all of the aggravation we had to endure. But never again and I do not recommend this for anyone who is sane and intelligent enough to see through the fine print. I guess they still make millions of money in sales for it to be worth it to treat people as if they were stupid children and sucker them into purchasing a product they can't afford and eventually bankrupt them and go into foreclosure. I pick this cruise for my honey moon , I call them and I talk with a sells represent , she tall me the cruise is all includ except the alcohol for 482$ 2 persons. We was so exited, we arrive at the port and the first person how I met was the guy how take my carrion he was really rude with us, we speak just Spanish and like I saw the people in the cruise heat that. When we arrive in the info Speke the guy tall us we have to pay 24$ each for tips and cruise gas and then that he explain that we had to pay 100$ excurcion forced one to go down to the bahamas and if is not we have to be on the cruise all the time... Now what Cain of Bahamas cruise is that if you can't in fact down to the Bahamas? and what the sell woman did't say it?. What all of that was just the beginning. Nobody speak Spanish so we didn't know where take the food, where are the cabinets and nothing, when we arrive at the cabin the beds had no sheets, we asked for them and never arrived, so here the first night we slept on the mattress, when we wake up we out the letter for clean the room and when we came back they twist the letter to "private" so they didn't clean the room because the letter say "private" of corse they change it . When we arrive at the Bahamas the guy say us the credit card was decline (when we pay one day before and nobody inform us) we were forced to pay cash because if we wanted to pay with another card we missed the tour, in the tour I have to travel on my husband because there was no place, at the night we take the dinner in Stella restaurant, the attention was horrible, so rude but we us because with the another person in the same table which speck in English was amazing we ask for a salad and They threw the plate on the table but the another person ask the same and They brought them various sauces and never ask me for that, the food taste horrible so We left the table and went to the buffet, the buffet was the only place when the service was excellent, the food was ok... The second day I talk whit a receptionist in spanish for make my complain and the other day a try to Spanish talk to her again, but apparently from one day to the other she forgot how to speak Spanish and she told me he did not understand my language... So my honey moon was a horror moon . Read Less

Our family of 6 was blessed with a cruise through Bahamas Celebrations partnership with an organization called Children Beating Cancer. Our daughter has just finished treatment for leukemia after 2.5 years. We were so pleasantly surprised on how relaxing the ship was compared to the Disney Cruise we had been on. It as so relaxing, and we could actually hear each other speak! We were treated like royalty with each staff member knowing who we were and why our family was there. The food as incredible, especially the food and waitstaff in the Admiralty Club. We were treated to spa experiences, which were amazing, as well as swimming with the Dolphins!! We also visited and had lunch at the Lucaya Resort which was beautiful. These are things we like never have been able to do before as a family. Our experience was unforgettable, and we left feeling refreshed and ready for the next cancer free chapter in our lives!! This company is a one ship operation,so it is so homey and the staff is so close knit as well. It feels like home!!! We cannot wait to go back some day. Read Less

We have been on other larger cruise lines such as Carnival, NCL, RCCL, but to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary wanted to take a quick short cruise. After reading reviews before we boarded we did not set high expectations. The truth is that we were pleasantly surprised with this cruise. The ship is outdated, no frills, but was very clean and well maintained. We had a decent size interior cabin but the location was not the greatest.Try to avoid AFT cabins we were on deck 7 AFT. Very LOUD I think it was engine noise and rocky, vibrating and very shaky ship when reaching the Bahamas. Crew was very friendly and provided good service. Pay the extra for the Admiralty Restaurant definitely worth it. Excellent service by Giovanni our waiter, good wine selection, excellent food and very nice ambiance. Highly recommend that restaurant. We did dinner there both nights. Had buffet lunch the first day. BBQ was very good when we returned from day trip in Freeport. Took cab to Taino beach did not stay there took another cab to Grand Lucayan Resort. Very nice beach there but no waiter to serve you on the beach you get your own drink at the bars. On the ship entertainment in the Encore room was excellent. Vegas show was OK, the comedian they had that night was very good but saw him at the Vegas show we did not pay to see the adult comedy show. Dance club was reserved for private party both nights. Ship was full to capacity but did not feel crowded at all. Everyone on the ship was very friendly and nice. The photographers took great pictures we ended up buying all of them. Hubby did OK at the casino. Definitely a very casual and party cruise. We had a great time, lots of fun and met lots of people. It's not the Oasis obviously, but for a weekend getaway was very good. I just wish the ship was not so loud and noisy so not sure if it was being on deck 7 AFT that was the problem. Other than that, I would definitely go again if it weren't for the shaky and loud noise that ship made when departing or approaching the port. For the money, very good service from the entire crew. We had an awesome time. Read Less

My neighbor was telling me about an inexpensive cruise opportunity and it was both our birthdays so I said let's go!! Separate from the cruise line, a time share company offered her this discounted cruise. The time share operators and the cruise line are totally seperate!!!! My advice after sitting through a 4hr scam...book directly through Grand Celebration Cruise Line. Don't fall for free or discounted cruises through other 3rd party operators. Grand Celebration cruise ship is an awesome value for what you get. 5 star customer service and food. The ship is average but for the price so much fun!! Great entertainment, activities and so clean. We had no lines for anything...if that is your complaint don't go during peak periods. Had such a great time...thanks to the staff and me having a realistic attitude!! Read Less

So as first timers my partner and I had a splendid experience on board! The staff was pleasant and understanding. The rooms were better than anticipated, bathrooms great size. The ship was older but in great condition and SUPER clean. I could eat off The floors! As for the food, you can never go hungry, even at 1a.m after The club or casino lol. There is also a couple of restaurants to choose from! Over all the cost was affordable for what my partner and got out of it! We didn't have any high standards or expectations and we just wanted a get away and this was exactly what we got with the Grand Celebration! I would definitely recommend this ship for families who wanna get away for cheap money for a high quality vacationing experience. And the captain didn't rock the boat at all, steady sailing to and from the Bahamas! Read Less

This cruise is actually a great deal for the money that you pay! Don't expect an Oasis of the Seas because you are not paying that type of money. I have traveled around the world on fabulous cruises and I really did enjoy this little cruise as the food was fine, the Stellar restaurant is upscale, the buffet was fine. Our ocean view room was really larger than I expected. I only saw one show at night as I was in the casino a lot playing blackjack. The show room was fine, the dancers were very good, but the comedian was not so great. We did not pay extra to see the late night comedian. The pool was small and not very appealing. The service was excellent as contrary to many of the reviews, I found the personnel on the boat to be very friendly. For a short get away, the Celebration is a good value. Read Less

Overall this cruise was amazing. The port was awesome, right on West Palm Beach. It was beautiful out there. Go a day early and stay the night. They started check in at 9, we got there at 9. Valet was $17 a night and required, didn't expect that but whatever. It was super easy. Our car drove 14 hours the day before, and all of a sudden didn't crank in the valet line, they pushed it and handled everything. It was awesome. Check in went super fast. As soon as you walk in they have a baggage check point if you want to check your baggage. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this and then NOT SO highly recommend it. Let me explain..they have food ready when you get aboard, and you can swim and etc already, but no rooms available until after 3. So you have to carry your luggage around for 3 hours, or you don't have what you may need for 3 hours. Next time we will wear our swimsuits and check our baggage again. Second floor they do the customs, passport check, pictures, and food reservations, and then you get your room key and etc. It went so fast. We were done with ALL check ins in less than 10 minutes. No Fort Lauderdale pick up like some others were exclaiming. It went so easy. We were the first ones aboard. So cool. At first glance aboard you could tell the boat was older. They were still doing lots of renovations. We got an ocean view room and oh my goodness, it was nice. The boat did have a smell...like an old boat would have. It was nice and clean though. Food: We only did Stellar Prime, it was ok. I mean, not enough food. They didn't offer many varieties. We ate buffet mostly. They had a BBQ out back, we almost missed it, and that was AMAZING. Ice cream by the coffee bar, we almost missed that too. The buffet was delish, and the poolside grill was good. Overall I would say that they could improve on food options, but for this type of cruise it was pretty good. The shows weren't great. Got up and left. There wasn't really any entertainment at all. It was kind of boring, and I was thankful that we didn't spend much time on the boat. We went to bed early, and got up late. Getting off in Freeport, was mess. Customs was almost 45 minutes late, so we couldn't get off the boat, and that took up an hour on the island. Be ready for $10 each person, roundtrip, taxi ride. They run their last trip back at 4:30, but you don't have to be back on the boat until 6, so there goes more time lost on the island. The drivers were funny and nice. We went on the public beach by the police department, it was beautiful. They recommend walking to Taino beach, we didn't try that. They have cheaper, and I mean MUCH cheaper excursions there. We did the dolphin encounter on the island and only paid about $90 each. The guys were awesome, and the boat ride over was so much fun. Dave was hilarious. LOVED our experience on the island. The boat ride was SUPER rocky. I've done other cruises, it was just the ship I guess. But it was ROUGH. Our cabin guy, Amr, was AMAZING. Seriously. He was great. The lady helping with baggage took note of our room number and was so fun remembering me throughout the trip. Definitely made the trip much better. The guys at customer service..WOW! Can you say RUDE! Oh my gosh. They were horrible. They called each other and bad mouthed the people in line, laughing so incredibly loud. It was tacky. They were jerks. We had 2 waiters at Stellar, well..4 actually. They were all plain, and not funny. Didn't try and make our experience more enjoyable at all. Just kinda of served and kept on about their business. Overall, we would do this cruise again. We are actually planning to go back with our kids soon. Hope this helps. Read Less

My husband booked the cruise to celebrate 20yrs of marriage. We are first time "cruisers" and were so excited to go! I then read the reviews after he booked it; and got really concerned that we just made a huge mistake. I wish I had not wasted my time reading the negative reviews! We had an AWESOME time! The ship was very clean. Staff were constantly cleaning everywhere. They were very friendly. Our stateroom was an Oceanview room. It was very clean and what we expected. We were only in our room to sleep and shower. Too much to do on the ship! Cleaning service 2 times per day. Edgardo was Awesome! He was our stateroom attendant. Not sure if you can request his section of the ship, but he went above and beyond to help us! We bought a bucket of beer (buy 5 get 1 free ) for $25.00 we had 2 beers left and took the bucket back to our room. We went out and came back to find our room cleaned and ice chilling our beer. The food was very good. The service was exceptional! My water glass never was empty! I drink a ton of water! Our table attendant was filling my glass constantly. We spoke with many seasoned couples who cruised the big cruise lines and they said that the cruise we were on was great! Take the cruise! Take the beach day excursion and get a table with umbrella asap on the beach! Also take the 8:30 dinner reservation on the ship. Hope you all have as much fun as we had! Read Less

My husband won this cruise on a promotion for a radio station. It was our first time cruise and let me tell you when I say everything is extra and at cost, I mean every little thing. When we received our information for the cruise it was very vague. When we booked the cruise we were not at all told about a timeshare presentation. We were tricked into all inclusive 2 night resort stay including a rental car. Well the resort was NOT a resort but just a average hotel Ramada Inn. The meals were inclusive but just horrible. We couldn't even get orange juice with our breakfast because it was extra as well. We ended up paying $230 for a already included rental car due to taxes and etc. The timeshare presentation was suppose to be 2 hrs. NOT!!! more like 4 hrs of our vacation time. Our upgraded cabin was nice. I was actually surprised that the room wasn't a crack jack box. The ship needed more enjoyable entertainment. The comedy was dull and not funny at all. There was an adult show which of course was extra money. The drinks were weak also. You get 10 drink tickets with the drink package and you needed all 10 for one night. The food was plentiful and they changed up the options often. The shore excursions were nothing to write home about and totally took the pleasure out of going to the Bahamas for the first time. Nothing more than a beach trip and yet another non inclusive resort for the day. Read Less

Overall I really did enjoy my time on the boat and the resort. My friend and I did the 2 nights on the boat and two nights at the resort.I will start with the cruise. Cruise: The Bahamas Grand Celebration was the name of the ship. It was a pretty good size as well. It had lots of stuff to do on the boat such as Casinos,Spa,Fitness center, night clubs, pool, and different shows(including a comedy show) that will entertain you. As with all cruise ships they give you safety briefing. We sat in the auditorium, which was very nice, and after the safety brief they told us all the stuff and events we can do(which I mentioned above) and what we can do if we stayed at the resort. I really enjoyed that part. They also have different upgraded dinner package. $20 per person with a $3 gratuity added. The free food is nice but that dinner package was very nice and well worth it. They offer a unlimited beverage package which is really good for the alcohol drinkers(I'm not sure how much that cost b/c I didn't use it lol). They have a soda package which I think is pointless b/c you already get free tea, lemonade and water but to each it's own. The prices for the spa as far as massage and facials are pretty good bwt $35 to $125. I wouldn't do a manicure or pedicure or anything to do with my nails b/c the prices are too high for it to be worth it(mani $45 pedi $65). They also have a salon $35 for a wash and blow out which I thought was nice. The issue a lot of people had on the boat was the air not working. I'm not sure what the deal of that was b/c it was really hot. So hot that people where sleeping on the deck. So takes a point off their rating. If you do the resort stay you may not get the same cabin you had previously. It wasn't a big deal since we have to get off the boat anyway.Overall great experience on the ship. Resort: The resort is beautiful. The water is clear. The pool is nice. The hotel rooms are nice and they offer room service. I really recommend all inclusive so you can drink and eat at a lot of restaurants for free. They offer free wifi. The transportation from the boat to the resort is also included which is very nice. They have a lot of excursions(I recommend the bond fire. That was nice). One of the things I was disappointed in was the food. The free food that is included in your package is not very good in my opinion. The food you can buy along the little strip mall is good and there are nice places to shop to bring some souvenirs back for your family. The gift shop is expensive so use the little strip mall. Overall I enjoyed my stay on the boat and the resort. They just need to fix the air condition on the ship.Hopefully when I book them again the air will be fixed. Read Less

For a special birthday celebration, I booked the four night cruise to Grand Bahama on the Grand Celebration out of Port of Palm Beach. I paid for two tickets, not part of a promotion or give-away, paid additional for upgrades, and when I received the itinerary, found out I needed to go to Ft. Lauderdale to pick up the boarding passes (I live about a mile away from the port in West Palm Beach). Several phone calls later, I was talking to a woman who could arrange to have the tickets picked up in my area, but I would have to attend an hour-long presentation about time shares, first. I phoned both the agency and Grand Celebration customer service, stating I paid outright for my tickets, thinking it was just a cruise, and I should not have to attend the presentation. The customer service was just amazing - they simply said that this is how you get the passes, period. So I arranged for the tickets to be sent to my area, got the address and time to attend. This seemed too calculated, so I went online (something I wish I did before buying the tickets) and found the cruise is a quasi-scam, usually luring people with free tickets or promotion prices, the goal being to sell them time shares. As the cruise left at 6 pm, and presentation was 10 am for about an hour or so, I planned to see a couple of patients in the early afternoon. When I arrived at the presentation, I mentioned that I had to be out by 11:30, and boy, did it hit the fan. The ladies became flustered, fluttering hands and saying I had to stay for the whole presentation. I explained that I was told it was only to be an hour long. A "gentleman" suddenly appeared, and said I could not have heard "an hour presentation", as he has known the woman I spoke with for years, and she would "never" say that (she did choose to not mention the tour of the time shares after the TWO hour presentation). I really tried to comply, saying I could call my first appointment and push back later, when the "gentleman", realizing an inevitable outcome, suddenly and tersely said I could get the passes and leave. I heard from several other passengers that a few who did not get roped into buying a time share were given the same rude and icy treatment by this charming man. The computers were "down" for a spell at the port, so we arrived to a chaotic scene, something akin to those film clips of the hoards passing through Ellis Island at the turn of the last century. Disorganization, rude and unhelpful staff, the frustration of an hour and a half wait a poor way to start a celebratory weekend. On board, the room was hot, so another line, for the boats customer service, along with a small army of fellow passengers complaining of hot rooms, not getting the room paid for, or missing luggage. Not much satisfaction from the customer service, but fortunately one of the stewards produced a fan, which helped. Once under way, an announcement that those of us staying at the Grand Lucaya on Grand Bahama needed to pre-register, and gave the deck number. Another line, and I guess the total time spent line-standing from time of arrival to finishing pre-registering was just about two and a half hours. Remainder of the cruise fine, a bit of a wait checking through customs on Grand Bahama, then the longest wait at the hotel, almost five hours while the rooms were "readied" for us. You would think they would have this down to a science by now, and avoid this ridiculous and senseless wait. And it prompts one to ask - why stand in line on board the boat for almost an hour to pre-register, when it did nothing to speed up getting into the room, and registering at the hotel would have at least been an activity to take up some of the wait time. But once settled, Grand Lucaya was very nice, beautiful view (paid for), kayaking, the gym, swimming, and nice room. Food was okay, a lacking buffet (and I am not very particular, especially with a buffet), but there was a coffee/sandwich/pastry shop which was sensational. Really aggravated that the better part of the first day was wasted waiting for the room. Best advice - book with a reputable cruise line, not this shoddy and scheming line. Read Less

I have to admit after reading some of the reviews I was a bit leery about taking this cruise . My concerns were not for myself but my traveling companions. This Girls Getaway consisted of my Mother in law and her sister, my two sister in laws and our cousin. That being said, the level and ease of access to and from activities, dining and events for our two matriarchs was of the uptmost importance and could have made or broke our little excursion. We chose the two nighter for the reasons mentioned and our combined schedules would not allow for a longer stay over at Freeport. I am so glad we chose this short cruise, it truly was a wonderful experience. Something for everyone, the two Moms of this group anjoyed an early show so they were able to share over our 7:30 reserved seating dinner how much fun they had . The food at the restaurant was expertly crafted delivered hot and delicious. The servers catered to our every whim with the relaxed attitude as if nothing was too much to ask for. The cruise was filled with happy friendly travelers all enjoying the entertainment, the weather and the overall party atmosphere, plenty of music and dancing, the drinks were delicious and well made the staff attentive courteous and professional. All in all, a great trip and the added Perk of an affordable way to cruise with your loved ones; where it doesnt break the bank . The Bahamas Celebration certainly is a great way to spend a few days away whether you need a short break from your hectic worklife or just spending quality time together with family and friends. I would recommend this trip for top notch fun on a budget cruise. Special thanks to Wolfgang and the Cebration crew for making this a memorable experience for my family and myself. Read Less

Cruise booked as promotion. Forced to attend time share sales meeting that was not aware of until trip paid for. Was promised a luxury suite for 4 with balcony and got state room for 2 with rollaway bed and pull down bunk. Air conditioning did not work annd bathroom smelled. Was offered a fan. While Lucayun was great resort had to wait hours to get room. Every turn was nickled and dimed to death. On cruise back rollaway bed collapsed because not put together adequately and at first was suggested just sleep with head at other end. After carpenter repaired bed it was still lacking slats so was even more uncomfortable than the one on the cruise to the island. Overall nothing like luxury vacation that was presented by sales person. Overall worst vacation ever. Grand Celebration from Caribbean cruise to the Bahamas biggest scam I have ever encountered. The A/C was out until around 10 pm. Caught two ship employees in our cabin after check in. They claimed they were cleaning but it did not appear to have any cleaned since we were last in there. Food was not what we expected for a Cruise ship. Had to change rooms at 11 pm because the A/C in the room never worked it was like a sauna in there...deck 6. The new cabin also drck six... white sheets with brown stains, and small currly black colored hairs under the comforter and on the pillows. We slept on our beach towels. We didn't sail till around midnight we sat in The port all evening sweating. The only included in the cost drinks are on Deck 10 in the cafeteria like dinning area..most of the time there was not any ice, and the cups were maybe 6 ounce cups so several trips during one setting. Don't expect to get into the pool or hot tub....small....pretty sure this is one of the first Cruze ships ever built. Folks I am not trying to be picky toward the Cruze line but give me a break. This was a business/fun trip for me and 20 of my co-workers. As we are checking in on the boat we are given a letter to let us know the air conditioning was not working. We could cancel at that point if we wanted to for a full refund or we could proceed knowing that the air was no working, but they were working on it. 21 of us had just flown in that morning to W Palm, cancelling at this point was not an option. We were hopeful the air would be fixed soon. We boarded around noon. there was no air conditioning any where. Not in the rooms, not in the restaurants, not in the hallways, no where. It was so miserably hot and there was no where to go for any kind of relief. Ice was hard to come by and water was only offered in tiny little cups. They did give a $50 credit and occasionally offered 2 for 1 drinks. Obviously trying to keep you intoxicated so you wouldn't keep focusing on how hot it was. We had made reservations to eat at one of the restaurants that evening and although the food was good, it was soooo hot and so uncomfortable sweating the whole time you are eating. They did finally come on the speaker and tell us that it takes 4 compressors to cool the entire ship and only 2 of them were up at the moment. They were hoping to have the third and hopefully, the 4th up later in the evening. It is now approaching 8:30 9:00 pm. still no air. they did finally come back an tell us all air was up and fully functioning. However, the rooms were so hot, the super small amount of air coming out of the air conditioning vent never really cooled off the room to a comfortable level. Some slept on the deck. It was a long, hot, very uncomfortable night for me. I couldn't wait to get off the boat and hopefully get some relief at the resort. We then stayed in the resort for 2 nights only to return to the cruise ship with only partial air conditioning AGAIN!! Some of the folks in our party had air, but several did not. Some were able to get a fan. Some were not. One of our co workers went to her room only to find someone already in it. Then after going to customer service to get another room, all that was left was a room with no air and there were no more fans. She was told if you aren't happy with that you can choose to stay on the island. REALLY!!!. Again, that is not really an option. The worst customer service I have ever seen. Imagine staying in this small confined space with no air, no windows to open, no fan to at least move the air. Inhumane living conditions if you ask me, but they get away with it, because its the only way you can get back to the US. The food at the buffet is mediocre, certainly not something to brag about. The servers were nice and although they were just as hot as us, they did seem to keep a positive attitude. This boat is simply a huge taxi service to the island and back. If you are just looking for transportation to the island and you don't mind being miserably hot, sweating for hours upon hours and if you don't intend to get any sleep in a comfortably cool room, then by all means, go for it. Otherwise, Beware. DON"T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. Oh yeah, they did offer us a free future cruise. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!?? Read Less

In some fairness,,,part of the problem with this cruise was that I was decieved.....told I had won a free cruise...I asked if it was a time share, the direct response was "no" that they gave away these trips to let people know about their vacation properties. I was then given a free cruise, with some time on Grand Bahamas at a resort. Then offered opportunities to upgrade, and the total upgrades cost me around two thousand dollars, not including airfare, and overnight at a hotel, which I had to pay in addition. I was stupid. So, when I arrived in Florida, to find it was required that I attend a "short presentation" on time shares, needless to say I was quite surprised, and no vouchers would be given unless I attended. So, I got up to attend and get the supposed "free breakfast" and attend presentation. Breakfast was non existant, some dry muffins and coffee. The short presentation was over five hours long, and I was verbally pushed and pushed by three sales people sitting around me ( I was by myself ) Two men and a woman. Like I said, when I left there, I noted it was a quarter of three on my phone. I got there at 8:30 am. I finally turned my back on them, got my book out of my purse, and told them to let me know when my vouchers were available. When I finally boarded ship, went to spa for mani and pedi shortly after boarding, the electricity went out. Cold food was served, no air conditioning, and ship at midnight was still in port, broken down due to lack of electricity. I am not certain when we left port, but for the entire trip there was no air conditioning. I had my so called "free" cabin deep down in ship, no windows, no airflow. I along with many other passengers spent the night on deck due to no air conditioning. I went for and had a lovely time at Grand Lucayan Resort, and dreaded getting back on the ship for return trip, but did. It was ok, but already spoiled by events as mentioned above. Miserable trip. Just miserable.. Would give it zero stars if I could. I am a frequent cruiser, and hate to think that first time cruisers would think of this as your typical cruise vacarion.......it most definitely is not. When trying to get on ship in Florida, very disorganized, and dis interested employees. I have stood in long lines to board ships before.....but this was ...... well.......stupid. I should have figured it out right then and left. Read Less

My wife and I are active cruisers (we live 15 min from Port Canaveral) and we are Platinum on most cruise lines. Last Thursday a TV commercial got our interest since we had nothing planed for the weekend. We call Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line (BPCL) Direct to investigate what this cruise line is all about. We have been to Nassau 2-3 times a year for the past 15 years, but never to Freeport. I like the idea you can use this Cruise Line as a “ferry” to Freeport and stay at any Hotel overnight (Cruise and Stay Deals). Then return a few days later back to Palm Beach, Florida. We called direct at BPCL to see if we could cruise the next day July 31st….. it was 100% Booked, however we indicated if they had a cancellation, to please call us. The next morning calls and we booked the 4PM sailing, Ocean View Cabin. We did not know what to expect as this would be our first sailing with this cruise ship. I would NOT use any “promotional” agency to book – call them direct. Check in was all done on-line and easy. Upon arrival (after a quick packing) in W. Palm Beach we did not expect the cruise ship to be at an industrial Port, but what the heck… Valet parking was the only option and it was a breeze (upon our return it was even faster). The ship itself was a surprise – every item looked new and our cabin (U112) was very clean and well maintained. The entire ship’s Air Condition was cold and refreshing since outside was 94. Even though the ship was 100% booked, we never felt crowded as we explored the ship. Each night we enjoyed a fabulous 50’s 60’s band while playing Blackjack. The staff was extremely eager to satisfy and very pleasant. Food was well prepared and the Prime Rib was fantastic. Evening snacks were available until 1AM. Overall, the food onboard was above our expectations – quite surprising and enjoyable since we expected “budget” meals. During the day, we needed to see if the Grand Lucayan resort was truly a 4-5 star establishment. Yes, the grounds, pool area, and beach was beautiful. The next time we travel to Freeport, we plan to stay 2, or 4 nights at the Grand Lucayan and use this ship as transportation to and from Freeport. Be prepared to travel 15-20 minutes from the port to the Grand Lucayan and any shopping planned. TAXI was $5 per person, one way. There is nothing at the Freeport dock since it also an Industrial Port. I am not sure why so many bad reviews are seen. We met so many nice people and played Blackjack with a great crowd. This was considered a budget cruise, but it’s the only one you can book with 6 hours’ notice!!! My wife and I really enjoyed the cruise and got our “batteries” charged for the next work week. My wife and I decided to book a last minute cruise, 2 days before departure, and were surprised that a cabin was available. The booking agent was very sweet and helpful. I was happy with the $400 price for 2, being a last minute deal. The check-in was relatively quick, the valet parking for $17/night was for 2 nights and reasonable. The food selection at the buffet once on board was not huge but a pretty good variety and the quality was actually good! We had just went on the RC Majesty 2 weeks prior for a 4 day cruise from Miami and this Grand Celebration had a more lively atmosphere as far as live music. The shows were not disappointing as variety shows go. From dancers to comedians to acrobats to magicians, they kept us entertained. The talent was quite skilled, having appearances on Letterman and Seinfeld. We decided to skip the excursions and just go directly to Lucaya resort to get a $15 day pass, but once there were told they stopped issuing them due to high occupancy. So we could have booked it from our ship for more money but we were being frugal. We discovered that the free public beach by the police station was kinda rogh looking so we wandered back up to Lucaya's beach where we found out it was ok to hang out there if you wanted to go without a lounge chair. Fortunately, we brought our own towels and laid on them and enjoyed a nice beach day. Later we walked over to the marina area and got some "fresh", i mean fresh conch fritters and deep fried lobster from a little kiosk stand by the water for $15. It was WOW good. We carried it over to a bar and had 2 for $6 local beers. Btw, the cab from the ship round trip was $20 for both of us together. Just pay up front and get a card to return at the Memories casino departing on the hour until 430. The biggest con was the ship vibration and noise when stopping and docking. It was like having a vibrating bed. Anyway, much more to say but I'll end with "better than expected." Read Less

This is an old ship, although very clean, and does not compare to the ships we have sailed on in our 80+ cruises. The customer demographic is different from other ships and it was obvious many of the guests had never before been on a cruise or, in too many cases, even learned the rudiments of proper behavior or basic manners. Alas, that is not the company's fault. The entertainment is no more or less sophmoric than on other ships and many enjoyed the talent. We did, although we cannot rave about it. Our three young teenaged grandchildren really enjoyed it. The food is good, better than expected. The pool is small and the surrounding deck area shows the age of the ship. The bed was comfortable and the small bathroom was adequate. Our rooms were barely cool but others were intolerably warm; we understand that issue has been addressed. There are no individual controls in the room. The elevators are tiny and claustrophobic but we were always able to get on promptly despite the fact there was a mobility scooter in our group. No suites were available so we booked ocean-view rooms which were very small and did not have sofas or comfortable chairs - only a luggage racks and a hard chairs at the desks. There is no fridge in the room and one has to request (beg for) ice. There is adequate storage space. Room service is very limited and no free beverages are available but you can get, and pay for, sodas and alcoholic drinks...clever. Guests are advised to go to the Food Service areas to get coffee or ice tea - which defeats the purpose of ordering room service but did not bother us. Service in the dining room was good. We did not avail ourselves of "pay dining" because we were traveling with three young teenagers. Embarkation and disembarking were quick but we had the advantage of using the handicapped lanes. Shore excursions appeared to be priced like those on other ships but we knew to arrange our own tours on land. This cruise served it's purpose, but is not for seasoned cruisers or for well mannered guests with limited tolerance for the foibles and vagaries of less experienced travelers. The staff coped quite well but we did feel badly for them given some of the guests they had to deal with... you've heard the expression "hearding cats" - this is what staff members had to try to do in too many instances. We booked our cruise direct with Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line for the best deal, don't listen to the folks that got sucked in by the free trips offered by the many time share sales groups, most of them felt lied to and ripped offed. The boat is great, the staff is eager to please and does a great overall job, the food at the Ocean view buffet and the Plunge Grill will satisfy most, it's not high end gourmet, but does the job. The cabins with Ocean view windows no balconies are available, are ok for couples or small families, clean and well maintained, smaller cabins are a little smaller and should be avoided. we also played the video poker machines and won money here also. We did play at the casino and found the black jack tables to be very profitable, with great dealers and pit bosses, avoid the $5 tables and settle for the $10 -$25 tables The best option is the cruise and stay deal we did 2 nights at the fabulous Grand Lucayan 4-5 star resort, and it was better than almost every other resort we have stayed at in the Bahamas. The hotel is directly of a beautiful white sand beach with crystal clear blue and green ocean. The pool area is fantastic and has world class services. The only advice is be prepared for a delay in getting off the boat through customs it took us 90 minutes but it should be expected. The use of a passport speeds up departure without a passport add a least another 90 minutes to the departure time. Read Less

What I'd like to warn people about is what most people did not now about when they bought these gift cards/and /or Groupons. You are required to pick up your boarding passes in Fort Lauderdale at a "welcome center" situated at a Ramada Resort. Not a problem for people who live south, but we drove from NORTH Florida. Fort Lauderdale is an hour away from the port! Not one person, while booking the cruise mentioned this before hand. The gift card itself did not state this either. When I called to complain, I was basically told "tough luck". BUT, they said in lieu of that hassle, we COULD go directly to Port of Palm Beach to pick up the boarding passes IF we attended a 90 minute presentation with breakfast, at a resort across from the Cruise ship terminal. THEN we could pick up boarding passes there. This is where the the story gets good. There is nothing 90 minutes about this fiasco. First of all breakfast was an hour long in the humidity by the resort's pool. We ate in 10 minutes, then sat and watched our Time share salesperson eat breakfast for an hour!!! An hour! THEN the tour began. After touring the facility, they brought us into a room with 50 or so other "suckers" and pitched the sale. We endured blaring latin dance music (which I love in any other setting). When I asked if we could go elsewhere so we could hear each other she said no. So my 70 year old mother sat at the table with their fingers in their ears. Just when I thought it was over we were told there was another part of the tour (going on 2 1/2 hours now). We were taken out to the beach boardwalk and told we were going to now tour the beach. It was spitting rain, thundering, and lightening. I said it wouldn't be smart to be on the beach with the lightening flashing, etc. We were told someone from our group HAD to walk the beach because it was part of the tour. And we could not get boarding passes without completing the tour! I stood my ground and said she was welcome to risk her life but we would not be walking over the boardwalk to the beach...So, finally after 3 1/2 hours of a very exhausting sales pitch of a $20K time- share, they finally gave us boarding passes! 3 1/2 hours! The cruise itself however was fun. Our room steward, Agus was always available, helpful and friendly. He was very attentive and brought us ice a couple times. Although some people had very hot rooms, and the temperature of the ship itself felt warm and a little humid, our room, U8 was cool. We slept well. The rooms are clean, and basic. We did not expect much for the price we paid. The food was good. Fresh fruit for breakfast, waffles, french toast, the usual buffet. The actual dining room for the buffet was cramped though. It was a full cruise, so people have to jockey around each other for the drink machine, etc. The pool area was festive, a guy playing steel drums. Exactly what you envision for a budget cruise. The ship itself is clean. Staff (excluding our super sweet cabin steward Agus) were "somewhat" friendly. Some were more cheerful than others of course. That's life.... The show was cute, not Vegas quality of course, but entertaining for a budget cruise. We went to Grand Lucaya resort for a lazy day by the pool over looking the beach under palm trees. Beautiful! Get there early to nab a lounge chair in the shade as close to the beach as possible for the ocean breeze. oh and BTW, be prepared to spend at least an 1 hour and 1/2 in a very warm line to disembark. If you have a passport you can go throught the shorter version of the hot line. Hope this was helpful! Read Less

Booked this through the Free Voucher I had and there was nothing free about it. First you pay for the port fees and everything which came out to about $65 a person. I paid to upgrade my cabin to a top deck room with ocean view. I called to make sure I was getting a top deck room with ocean view the week before the cruise and the day of the cruise and I was assured I was getting a top deck cabin with ocean view. I paid the fee and went with it. Alas, I arrived and was not given what I paid for. I tried to have them accommodate me into another room, but they could not do so. The AC was not working in the room and we called multiple times about this, but it was never fixed. Multiple other passengers also did not have AC working. You basically wake up covered in sweat and feeling gross. The food was average, nothing special. The shows are blah; paid for the Adult Comedy Show and it was just a bunch of F bombs with nothing special. Drinks are incredibly watered down especially when you give them one of the drink tickets. I did make friends with one of the bar tenders in the Martini Lounge who made normal drinks and was very friendly. Actually almost all of the wait staff was very friendly. My beef is with the organization of the whole thing and inefficiency. They tell you you HAVE to go to Fort Lauderdale an hour away to pick up your boarding passes and we did that, but when we got to West Palm, they did not need those and was a freaking waste of time. We had to go to Fort Lauderdale the night before and had to get a hotel just to do that. If I would have known I could just go to West Palm, we would have driven straight there from Tampa in the morning. They have the most inefficient system of getting off the cruise. We waited 3 hours in line in a muggy/hot hallway crowded with people to get off the ship. It was an absolute nightmare disembarking. Literally everyone we talked to leaving the ship said they would never go on this again. I have been on a few cruises and this was absolutely the worst. If you're looking to have a good time in the Bahamas find another way there. Seriously.... it is not worth it. Read Less

This was a nightmare cruise. We booked 2 rooms that were to sleep 4 people. We arrived on the ship and in our rooms and come to find out there is only 1 bed that slept 2 people. Upon numerous phone calls to the front desk/customer service on the ship and numerous trips to the front desk/customer service, the person that we made the reservations with informed us they gave us the wrong rooms and he transferred us to customer service. They were rude and could not help and told us on the back we had to upgrade our rooms for additional funds. After all this we were moved to a room that slept 3 people that had no A/C and multiple people didn't have A/C. We were told our luggage would be put in our rooms and we actually had to go track it down. Our brand new luggage was damaged. The new room we were given was 2 floors away from our family. On top of this we filed complaints about the luggage which no one ever took pictures of or wrote down. We spent the majority of the time in line because the lines were so long with people filing complaints about things it was ridiculous. Then, after they stated they fixed our A/C hours later it was still ungodly hot in our room and you could not sleep because it was so uncomfortable and loud. This on top of the rudeness and being charged for things we were not told about. We also were told the ship had 5 pools/jacuzzis which it only had 2 pools and kiddie pool and most of the ship was being painted, dangerous due to them working on it with ladders etc. This was to be a new ship yeah right with all this going on. We truly feeled lied and mislead. We wnet and had our toes and nails done and were suppose to get a discount and our bill was almost $200.00 we said something again nothing was done. Needless to say we found another way back from the Bahamas and did not get back on this ship. Problem is we called, sent several complaints and are still waiting for a response and have not received credit for any part of this trip on the ship. Never again we will get on Grand Celebration out of Port of Palm Beach. Read Less

It wasn't terrible but there is definitely room for improvement. I am a Disney cruiser so I wasn't expecting Disney but I would much rather have just skipped it. The boat rooms were normal size to me. I got the ocean view. Of course Disney rooms are bigger but I have also taken a Norwegian and the room on Celebration were the same size as Norwegian. Shows were just ok. I went to sleep on the comedy show. The pool is terrible! Maybe there was another on the boat that I didn't see. The food was just good enough to say you ate. I didn't try the admiral club dinning perhaps I should have. The fees were as expected 12 per day per person for service. This is normal for all cruises most let you decide what to pay and suggest tips. Then we were charged $9 for fuel. Check in process was fine. I almost got tricked into a timeshare tour, but I told them I already owned two which I did and they didn't bother me. PLEASE BEWARE that you are supposed to pick up your tickets from Ft. Lauderdale. I flew into West Palm beach this was almost an issue for me but I was able to get around it but other may not so pay attention to that.
