I went on the "glories of Spain and Portugal" itinerary in August. This was my first cruise. The small ship size was great and I got to know the fellow passengers and crew very well. The crew and staff were excellent and very attentive, and I also enjoyed the small group excursions. I really enjoyed the ports and the privileged locations we got to dock at each day. The ship was very clean and nice. If you are looking for high luxury, however, this is probably not the ship for you. Cabins are small and there are no balcony cabins. The ship had a nice family feeling and I felt right at home. The food was good and there were a lot of choices and the staff was accommodating of any dietary restrictions. Everything went smoothly on board. In short if you are looking for a nice ship with amazing staff and an intimate feeling, I would absolutely recommend Variety cruises and the Harmony V. Read Less

Another truly excellent cruise with Variety Cruises aboard their small, but beautifully accommodating ships. Once again, everything was just spot on, from the welcome, the food, the warmth of the staff and crew, the company of fellow passengers, and the ports of call. I can't speak highly enough of this kind of cruise experience. You feel as though you are with a group of friends on a private yacht. You get to see places without hordes of cruise ship passengers. On this Greek cruise we visited some smaller islands that are almost untouched by tourism. On busier islands like Santorini and Mykonos, watching 3000 passengers queuing in the heat for tenders made us feel so smug that we could wander on and off our ship in the harbour at any time we chose. The whole thing is designed to make you feel special, and you most certainly do! Can't wait for the next one! Read Less

There's a new chef this year and he is fantastic. I would recommend that anyone interested in this cruise absolutely book the tour through Odysseys Unlimited. Other passengers have to have a large enough number to go on the shore excursions. The A rooms had plenty of space to walk around the bed and very decently-sized showers. Room safe, DVD player and a channel that constantly played a loop of english-language Greece-related movies. There's a library of novel discards from past passengers plus some other guidebooks. The crew were outstanding. They had tons of experience on cruise ships or extremely engaging personalities. Or both. Everyone was so friendly, even when they were concerned about weather or matters they never disclosed to us. I would caution that anyone unaccustomed to strenuous swimming avoid the swim stops. They will cancel if the seas are too rough, but the currents are unpredictable. A bunch of people went in and we all came out safely. A lot of the places we visited had places where it would be easy to trip and fall. Greece is a place for tourists with a dose of common sense about staying out of the street and not behaving recklessly on precarious trails. You must be at least moderately fit in order to reach the amazing places made available to you on this trip. One of the greatest things we saw was the cliff walk on Santorini. You have to pass on the optional excursion, but you can walk through three villages along the cliffs and stop anytime for a coffee or lunch. Probably about three miles roundtrip. You miss seeing Oia, which others say is fantastic, so... A warning: we saw no evidence that Greece is LGBT-friendly, except in parts of Athens and Mykonos. Tradition and religion were evident everywhere. It was a little heartbreaking to know that friends and family would not be greeted with the same enthusiasm. Read Less

This yacht/company was chosen basis very high standards and I could not be happier with my choice. Not only me and my friends had the opportunity to experience life onboard such a magnificent yacht but also explore and discover the natural beauty of the Canary Islands through wonderful excursions. The suites and generally all accommodating areas, of HARMONY V, are based on a combination of modern design and a luxurious - yet affordable - way of spending time to relax and explore the destination. The dining area was always filled with smiles of the crew, who were standing by for any of our complex requirements. Of course the Chef gave us a taste of the local cuisine and other delicious courses. I would consider myself very lucky if I was able someday to travel again with the same or a sister yacht of the company to experience such kind of vacations. Needless to say we were all feeling completely safe thanks to the Captain and the crew, during our passages through the islands. What a great adventure. Thank you for making us feel like home :) Read Less

This was our first cruise and after reading some negative comments prior to us boarding, I was a little concerned. However, after spending 8 wonderful days, sailing around the Mediterranean, stopping off at beautiful Greek Islands, eating the most fabulous food, being waited upon like we were Kings and Queens, I decided that the people that had written the negative comments must have been on the wrong cruise. We were on the A deck (no noise at all) and the cabin was excellent. The weather conditions outside were extremely hot and humid so the A/C worked overtime, which kept us cool all night and held up to the extreme temperatures. The towels were changed twice per day and we also had a turn down service at night with a chocolate to send us off to sleep. The bar staff and food service staff were above professional, they became our friends and knew what our requirements were every day. Variety Cruises should be very proud of them. The ships other staff, sailors etc, were also very friendly and helped us whenever we required assistance. I suppose if I had to mention anything negative, we both wanted to do some shore excursion, however there was a quota required which was never reached. We weren't to concerned, but some people might be disappointed. Perhaps Variety can link in with another company to ensure the quota is reached. We swam off the back of the Harmony V 3 times which was exciting swimming in the Mediterranean and the crew watched over us to make sure we were all ok, as sometimes the current was a little strong. Each days activities were posted on the notice board plenty of time in advance and a briefing for the next days activities were placed on out bed each night. Keep up the excellent work Harmony V, and we hope to see you soon. Read Less

This was our first cruise and it was excellent from service to the comfort of the room. The wait staff were thorough and made sure we were looked after at all times. The room was services twice daily and turned down at night with surprises on the pillows. The spa treatments on board with the massages were fantastic felt totally relaxed. The food was delectable with a great choice and fresh fruit available at all times. The dining area was set out with different colors and amazing napkin decorations couldn't wait to see what they had done with the serviette each time. Drink waiters very attentive and gained knowledge of what drinks you liked and how you took your coffee. A BIG THANK YOU to Ram and Asund I hope I have the names correct they were great. Yannis the manager was very helpful and attentive thru out the entire experience thank you to him as well. The captain was also available and friendly to all of us it was nice being able to stroll pass control room and pop head in each time to friendly faces. Will definitely cruise again looking forward to the new boat in 2017 that we heard about on board. Read Less

Days before I left for Greece I read some very negative reviews about this trip. Naturally I was a little nervous. Now that I am home again I can truthfully say there was nothing to worry about. We had a truly wonderful time and visited several amazing islands without dealing with the large ship crowds. We met so many friendly and warm international travelers. This made the cruise all the better! The cabins are small. However, we found a place for everything and tucked our bags under the beds. And in reality, we were hardly ever in the cabin. We docked every day and had lots of time ashore. And the upper deck space was perfect to appreciate the beautiful weather and scenery (and Greek beer and wine). The food was very good. I enjoyed the incredible buffets more than the sit down dinners. So many delicious choices! And there were only three sit downs which were fine. The fruits and vegetables were all in season and so good! What was nice with this cruise is that you eat one meal a day on shore. If you like Greek food or think you might, you will be in heaven! We also loved the swim stops! There is a large platform, a ladder, a shower, and even noodles so you can relax in the Aegean Sea. I have saved the best for last. What made this trip especially memorable was the people. Everyone on board was friendly, thoughtful, and helpful. They truly want you to be happy. I must make special mention of our cruise director Thea. She was unbelievable! I don't think I have ever met anyone in her position who worked so hard to ensure that everyone was well cared for. What a kind, positive, smart guide! And she could be very funny! At every port she helped us arrange activities and always helped orient us with a walking tour. And her suggestions were 100% successes!! This proved to be one of the best trips ever! If you want to experience the Greek Islands, don't hesitate to choose this vacation. Read Less

Hi everyone. I was just on the Variety Cruise through the Greek Isles on the Harmony V. It was awesome. We went to some islands most of the big cruise ships can't go to. So, you get a feel for a more local experience, and our guide Joeseph was fantastic. We skipped much of the tours, opting to relax at a couple of beach clubs instead. The itinerary is packed full of adventures, so if you tire easily, see some highlights, then relax on one of the many gorgeous beaches. There were a couple of teenagers on the boat, they were bored on days at sea, so bring some activities for them, or a computer for them to play games with. There is no entertainment on board, except one night, they bring on some greek dancers for a fun cultural experience. I would have skipped this to spend more time in the beautiful town we docked at and had dinner off boat. Rooms were nice. We had a normal room without the extra space, and it was roomy. I would just ask for more hooks on the walls to hang things for extra storage. Book the front half of the boat. The back half, especially the rooms under the outside lounge area can hear things like chairs moving on the floor, and voices from passengers enjoying late evening cocktails. Food was good on the boat, the dining area has both booth seating and chairs and table seating for groups of four. Everyone from the crew to Spiros the accommodations host to the captain were super! We're booking Cuba with them next! Can't wait! Read Less

My wife and I booked this cruise as we had always talked about visiting the Greek Islands and thought a Small Ship would be the ideal way to do it. The ship is really comfortable with a fantastic crew and excellent service. The meals on board were delicious and the service was always top notch. Special mention to Armand the bartender who kept us well supplied with drinks and great cocktails. I tend to find that the some of the best memories from travelling are not just the places you visit but the people you meet. There were around 35 passengers on our cruise and we made some great friendships with the other passengers. Unfortunately we didn't get to Crete as the sea was very rough when we left Santorini but it really didn't matter. The crew arranged for us to travel to other islands and we had a great time. We had a Captains Dinner and a Greek Night on board which was a lot of fun. The excursions arranged via the ship were well organised and the trip to Delios was certainly worth the ferry ride across to the Island. For all those considering visiting the Greek Islands this is definitely the way to go as the ship can get right into the ports with no tendering off required (except Santorini). Read Less

Recently returned from a 7 day cruise on the Harmony V .....excellent experience. The staff was very helpful, professional and attentive. Our Bar keeper, Armand, has been in the cruise industry for many years and was personal, attentive and a wonderful addition to the cruise. Joseph, our director, was excellent; he was intelligent, knowledgeable of all aspects of Greece, humorous and extremely well-suited for his career. Stavos, our hotelier, was equally as proficient. When researching this trip there was limited information and the US representatives were not as knowledgeable and accommodating as one would expect....delay in receiving information, etc. However, the under representation in the US may be attributed to the mentioned short-fallings of the US reps. Once we were in Greece and aboard the Harmony ...all else was smooth sailing. The ONLY complaint I would have is there was a separate tour within our small cruise which made the flow disjointed in an otherwise seamless experience. Even with that said I would recommend this cruise without hesitation. Read Less

Harmony V Classical Greek Cruise by Variety Cruise is FANTASTIC!. My husband and I celebrated my 60th birthday with a trip to Greece. We had never been on a cruise and knew that we had no interest in a large or mid-size ship. Everything about this cruise turned out perfect – the staff & crew, the service, the ship, the itinerary – it was all flawless. The staff was extremely accommodating and helpful. Joseph, the cruise director was a highlight everyday with his informative and entertaining guides and reports and we always enjoyed the excursions that he led. He patiently took care of every detail and has a great sense of humor. Spiros, the “hotel” manager and his staff were very efficient. Cabins were cleaned twice a day and the restaurant/bar service was perfect. The food on board was as good as any on the islands that we visited - Daily buffet breakfast with an egg/omlette station, buffet lunches & dinners and 2 plated 5 course meals. The captain and crew were very experienced and provided regular updates about weather and sea conditions. The ship holds a maximum of 50 people which provided the opportunity to travel to islands that can’t accommodate large cruise ships. The rooms are not large because of the size of the ship but they are quite comfortable. We had a room with twin beds with plenty of storage room and a bathroom that was small but not confining. The dining room, bar and outside deck area are well maintained with plenty of room to accommodate all the guests. The itinerary allowed plenty of time to see the islands and we stayed at port at many locations through the evening so that we could have dinner and enjoy the nightlife. It was great fun to have swim stops in coves along the way on various days. We never felt rushed with any of the schedule. One of the nicest things about this cruise is the small ship experience. We got to know the other passengers quite well and really enjoyed meeting new people from all over the world. As Joseph kept reminding the passengers – “you are travelers, not tourists” and that is exactly the experience that you have with this small ship cruise. We highly recommend Variety Cruises and particularly Harmony V. We will definitely book another vacation with Variety Cruises again!!   Read Less

My husband and I had a wonderful experience on the Variety Cruises' Harmony V doing it's Classical Greece itinerary. We had never been to Greece before and we couldn't imagine seeing it any other way. The cruise itinerary had a very nice mix of destinations and because of the ship size, we got to see some obscure islands that we would have never seen otherwise like Monemvassia, Kea and Kythira. We loved the fact that we could visit a new place every day and the ship even stayed docked until early morning so we could really enjoy the nightlife that many of the islands offered. The crew was fabulous and we especially enjoyed our Cruise Director, Joseph's knowledge and amusing personality. The maid service was so efficient and would clean our room almost the moment we stepped out. The ships chef was also top notch and we had some of the best meals on the ship. The ship was beautiful and spacious with an intimate feel. There were about 30 people on our ship and although we got to know everyone, the ship was big enough to give you personal space. I would highly recommend this cruise line to anyone and we are already planning another Variety Cruise vacation with some friends. Read Less

I had the absolute pleasure of spending the end of June aboard Variety Cruises' Harmony V doing its Classical Greece itinerary. I had been to Greece several times before and I have to say that having done the whole island hopping thing using catamarans and car ferries, constantly packing and unpacking, there truly is no better way to travel than this. We would literally wake up to a new port of call every single day and the best part about these types of cruises is that the ship literally stays docked on the islands up until very late at night so that you can go out and enjoy the nightlife as opposed to the other cruises which literally have you spending only 4-5 hours at each port of call. The itinerary itself is a very nice mix of the more popular and well known ports of call like Mykonos and Santorini but, then it also covers some of the more out of the way, not so touristy, more exclusive spots like Kythira, Monemvassia and Hydra for example which I have never been to. The ship itself is magnificent, modern and sleek in design, it's the closest I'll probably ever come to feeling like Aristotle Onassis. The staff was excellent and the service could not have been better, they were literally picking up after me in my cabin at least two or three times a day it seemed. The great thing about these small ship yacht cruises is that you really do get a very personalized experience. The ship is small enough so that you get to know everybody on board and yet at the same time it is also large enough so that it never feels too crowded. There were about 25 people on our trip so I believe that the ship was about half full. There's free wifi on board as well which definitely helps pass the time while you are on board. Read Less

We just returned from a great trip on Harmony V, through Variety Cruises. A 7 day trip that was fabulous! From the itinerary to the service, the food, to the boat to the weather. Please note that this is a cruise for travelers, not cruise-ship folks. The boat is small, holds 54 passengers. We had 27, which made it wonderful too. We visited: Kea Mykonos Delos (day excursion, extra $, but well worth it with a paid guide) Santorini Rethymnon/Crete Kythira Monemvassia - Nafplion Hydra Ranan, our cruise specialist, led us through each town on a walk to point out the main points of interest, routes to go, shopping, etc. She was great! The boat is perfect for this type of vacation. Plenty of space to relax, which we did later in the week while sailing during the day. Breakfast is provided, and was great. Each day, either lunch or dinner is provided, giving guests the opportunity to have a meal on each island and try the local cuisine. Each port had plenty of tavernas or more upscale restaurants. It was a great way to explore each place. We had a mixture of Americans, Spanish, Italian and Greek people on board with us. The service on board was exceptional. The crew truly worked hard to make sure we were happy. I highly recommend this company. Read Less

With the exception of Santorini we were able to dock at each port and even there we had a good-sized tender to take us to the Cable Car to Fira. On the first evening Captain Emmanuel warned us that he didn't think he would be able to go directly to Delos and would proceed to Mykonos. He was right! The Meltemi winds were blowing and the sea was dancing with white caps. We arrived in Mykonos early in the AM and after breakfast left for Delos on one of the regular tour boats. Sometimes an ill wind does blow good because it made Delos tolerable when on a non-windy day it would have been dangerously hot. Others have complained about Variety's changes in plans, but in our case, instead of dinner in Mykonos, because we had to leave port early, we had a great fish dinner in Paros and watched the ferry from Athens disembark crowds. Paros may be the new Mykonos. We were particularly interested in visiting vineyards in Santorini, our next port, so our on-shore cruise director arranged for twelve of us to go on a wine tour instead of the usual itinery. We found some REALLY good Greek wines and an incredible Vin Santo at Arguros Winery. Our gang of ten opted for the beach at Rethymno instead of Knossos in Crete. The beach was equipped with umbrellas and chaises as well as water sports facilities. The people who chose to go to Knossos returned to say that the 3-hour bus ride was tiring and the heat awful. (I wonder if Variety could dock Harmony V nearer to Knossos for that reason.)Greek night took place on Crete with a small troupe of excellent dancers who introduced us to classical dancing, followed with some wild Cretan versions of dancing to bouzouki which we all tried to emulate, not necessarily well. We skipped Kythera early the next day--more Meltemi. But we went on to Monemvassia, the fantastic castle town. Some people even found a beach. We arrived in Nafplio in the evening instead of the next morning and were able to have dinner at an exceptional fish restaurant on the quay in one of the most beautiful towns in Greece. The next day we went off to Mycenae, which reminded us that we needed to make another visit to the Archaeological Museum in Athens to catch up with the real "Mask of Agamemnon." Nafplio has competition from Hydra, where the natives are serious about preservation. Hydra is even more sophisticated than Santorini in certain ways. The Captain's Dinner took place that evening anchored at Aegina. The next morning we woke up in Marina Kea. We did not have a full complement of passengers on the cruise--only 36--which probably added to the positive experience. The wait staff and room staff were pretty young women from the Ukraine and the bartender was a young Russian; she made fantastic Mojitos and Margueritas. The crew were friendly and helpful. Our fellow passengers were really compatible; as far as I know there were no complaints and no "primadonnas." There were four Americans besides our group of ten while the rest of the complement were European and Australian. The cruise is good value for money. The staff are well trained and the service exceptional. Breakfasts were better than our 5-star hotel in Athens, the lunches very good, but perhaps the chef shouldn't try so hard to produce a "gourmet meal" for those dinners aboard. His moussaka and stuffed tomatoes were as good as mine and his lamb on "Greek Night" superb. This is not a cruise for someone who wants casinos, daily pseudo-Broadway entertainment, non-stop eating, and pampering. It's for people who like a laid-back experience and are capable of entering the spirit of small ship cruising. Read Less

The itinerary was exactly what we have wanted to do for years. The ship was a little tired but everything was clean and acceptable. Almost all of the meals were buffet style which normally isn't our thing but it must be said that there was plenty of food with a good variety for every meal, the food was extremely fresh and even if you were back of the queue there was plenty of every dish to go round. In all we were surprised by the quality of the food which was very good without exception. It was the norm for most people to drink the house wine and ordering anything else was a bit of an ordeal. However the house wine wasn't bad and by the end of the week we were certainly ok with it. The bar was scantily stocked and some nights wasn't even open beyond 10.30pm but even that didn't bother us as the sea air gave us very a very good sleep pattern, so good in fact that we only took one breakfast in the whole week. As for the islands, well once you've seen one you've probably seen most of what tomorrow brings. The people were very friendly and if you ate the local food and drank the local wine then meals out were very very cheap. Read Less

Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the cruise for the following reasons. When we booked the cruise we were told that Seafarers did not have the 2010 brochure but would send us the 2009. We were told that everything was the same except the prices. However once on board we were told that we had to pay for our drinks at meal times. Whereas the brochure stated that these were free with our meals. At best with a cruise costing £3700 this is extremely mean - secondly contravenes the Trade Description Act. As a 'Mega Yacht' we expected some level of luxury. The cabins are no bigger or better appointed than a standard cabin on a larger cruise ship. Our shower to say the least needed some tender loving care. There was only 11 sun beds for 44 people! It was impossible to use the lounge as the TV was on all the time with the volume very high! The 'Full American Breakfast' consisted of some cereals and fruit was very nice, however, the hot breakfast comprised to two hot trays. Not exactly a full breakfast! The main meals of the day provided very good food but the only choice was for the main meal - there was never a choice even for desert! Besides all this as we ended up spending over half the 'cruise' in Patmos Harbour due to high winds in the Aegean SEA . We fully accept that the Captain was correct in protecting our safety and comfort. But From our point of view it is not much of a cruise sitting in a harbour. While we understand we could not keep to the itinerary we do not understand why we could not have at least cruised to islands in the area where the weather was fine. There were many much smaller vessels coming in and out of the harbour all the time. Obviously the actually cruising is a large part of the enjoyment on going on a cruise. We may have just as well stayed in a Hotel in Patmos, where we would have had much more room and a swimming pool - for a lot less money!!! A concern is that one of the passengers had done this cruise twice before and has never been to Mykonos??!!! So three cruise and he still has not seen the island. I have since spoken to someone else who did this cruise and they also did not get to Mykonos!! Because of the 'bad weather' we had to return to Athens by a massive Ferry along with cars and trucks. The Captains meal was brought forward a day and therefore made the end of the holiday. So the next day was just hanging around waiting to go home. Even that day the lunch and dinner were a buffet - surely one does not pay all this money to queue up for your food!! The evening meal was brought forward to 7.00pm although we could not get on the ferry until 11.00pm!!! Again, much hanging around. In effect it took us 22 hours to get home - excluding the whole day of Thursday in effect waiting to get on the ferry. Had to pack in the afternoon and put the cases out before 7.00pm. But they where still there at 10.00 pm!!! This was to us going to be a 'once in a lifetime' cruise. So we had hoped you can understand our disappointment. The whole idea was a luxury cruise with more room and meal choice as opposed to the large ships, but in fact it was the opposite. On the positive side we would have to say the crew at all times were very helpful, efficient and smiling. In particular Christian was very knowledgeable and helpful. Especially with the change of itinerary and with the ferry. We have emailed no end of times to Seafarers although the lady in the office always answers these - her manager took 2 months to even acknowledge our disappointment.Had numerous excuses that he was on holiday the top man of Variety Cruises was on a trip etc etc. Over 3 weeks ago he promised to come back to me at the end of that week and guess what - !! We had being on a similar type cruise in Croatia 2 years ago and when I say similar i mean only the head count was similar, everything else was quite the opposite needless to say. Firstly when we googled this cruise , to say the pictures were air brushed is an understatement . When we arrived at the port , we thought we were at the wrong boat as did other passengers as we found out as the days on board passed by. The size of our room was 7ft x 7ft square with twin beds pushed together . There was a foot either side of the bed and at the end of it and our toilet leaked from day one, of which we reported but nothing was done about it. The air conditioning unit roared like a generator all night long of which was reported also. Nothing was done on either report. We only swam off the back of the boat once and that was on the first day as it was either too windy or we were in a port and could not swim in it. We missed one of our shore excursions or rather port of stop due to being unable to dock??. We spent one afternoon and one night in another port because we were told seas were too rough to move on.We eventually ended up at our final destination Mykonos and were told we could stay out until 3am but would be leaving again at 5am to head back to Athens , note no one on board had any interest in staying out until 3am. We left Mykonos at 5.30am on thursday am and finally docked in Athens at 9.30pm , everyone was sick on board due to the rough seas .This day was completely wasted all in aid of the cruise being back in Athens for Friday am for our disembarkation and embarkation of its new clients. We were outraged at this and the fact that they did not take into account how anyone felt about this nor were we even asked for our opinion. The cabin , Dining and Bar staff were excellent and we had no problem leaving them some form of gratitude in monetary terms, we were asked to leave at least between €80 and €100 for them, that's from each cabin which I think in it self should have being an individual decision and not a request from the tour co-ordinator. I found the him to be a Jekyll and Hyde, sweet when it suited but down right arrogant and rude at the best of times. He took offence when asked questions on what he was supposed to have covered and at times snapped at clients for no apparent reason and then smiled at them after as if saying ... now ask me again !. He treated Dining and Bar Staff as if they were below him and that they were working for him, he was so rude to them and in front of us which was even worse . The boat , well what can I say apart from the fact that it needs a complete overhaul from top to bottom. 3 of the sun loungers were broken and could not be used and the area was so small that not everyone could sunbath at the one time. The Bar area is so basic it is not funny, large plain timber tables and chairs , similar to what you would see in a canteen, the cheapest of furniture and was by no means enticed anyone to stay in the bar for any length of time. The Dining area stank of dampness each morning .The window frames had seen their day and need to be replaced . The ramp for embarkment and disembarkment was a danger in itself. At one stage i watched as a member of crew used a hammer to get the handles to fit to the frame in order that we had something to hold onto in order to disembark. If I were asked to rate this boat on a scale of one to ten , i could at most only give it a 1 - 2 at most. Read Less

My wife and I went on 7 night/ 8 day Greek Island cruise with friends in September 2015. For months we were looking forward to a trip of a life time, sharing websites links of Harmony V with friends and family. After a month long European holiday we could not wait to board our " luxury cruising yacht." What a let down. Harmony V was nothing like the photos on the website. It is extremely tired and in a desperate need of a make over. The furnishing and fittings reminded us of a cheap motel. We were not informed that the majority of the passengers were part of a seperate tour group catering for American tourist. They had their own guide and as such did not mingle as they undertook their own excursions and had their seating arrangements for meals. It was really a case of us and them. The cabin and beverage staff were very good and tried their best. The food was average with little variety and the Greek wines on offer were very expensive and not very good. We saw very little of the captain and his executive team. We could however smell them from their constant smoking on the bridge. We paid what we believe was and extremely high price which obviously heightened our expectations. Please do you homework before making any bookings Read Less

My Husband and I, with another couple with whom we travel often, took the Odyssey Classic Greek Isle tour; our first tour with Odyssey, The four nights in Athens in the Electra Palace Hotel was top notch....no complaints. The Harmony V was another story. This was billed as a luxury mega yacht, which paints a picture of a really nice boat. The Harmony V, in our opinion needs a makeover. When we arrived on the ship, the cabin had a smaller bed than we paid for. Lucky for us, another couple switched with us .... we believe they were compensated. The first hour out from Athens, the steering joystick malfunctioned so we missed our first island stop. From dirty carpets, tired and worn linens (white towels that were stained and some that looked as if they were used to clean floors), toilets and showers with rusty brown water, the crews laundry hanging on lines on the forward part of the boat; and the worst experience, a swim stop in choppy waters that was totally unsafe (the only two young women on our tour, who were in the water, pulled many people out ("mainly seniors"') while the staff stood on the deck and watched as the water carried us further and further away. There were people in the group that were on their 3rd, 4th and 5th Odyssey tour. The general concensus was that Odyssey's reputation is being harmed by this tour. They did not deliver what was advertised. The tour guide was good and the islands were everything we expected, although they did not stick to the itinerary on many occasions. The boat is billed as a big part of the "Greek Isle" experience, as advertised in their brochure. It did not live up to the hype in their brochure at all. Is there no quality control on Odyssey's part to check conditions on the Harmony V? Read Less

45 minutes out of Athens the steering broke...we waited 4 hours to be repaired. The trip did not follow our written itinerary. The linens are very old and mismatched. The towels, especially face cloths were stained. The carpeting throughout the boat is dirty. (This was mentioned to the person in charge). The toilet backed up first day, our friends needed a complete new commode during the first 3 days-who is in charge of operations? The shower regularly has rusty water. The crew are a very nice group of people who tried their best to meet our needs. The A/C in our cabin was very good. The food was fair to good. At the buffets the food was never hot. (This was mentioned to the person in charge). This tour is marketed by ODESSEYS UNLIMITED as a Luxury Yacht. It is by no means a luxury yacht. Very misrepresented. When you begin a cruise like we did it is very disappointing and disconcerting to think that you can break down because the 'joy stick steering broke'. Where's the quality control and inspections???? Where is the cleanliness of towels and linens- things don't last forever-it's time for new items. WHERE IS ODESSEYS UNLIMITED INSPECTION OF WHAT THEY SELL? This boat needs a new plumbing system, and a refurbishment throughout. Read Less

Disgusting!!!!! We booked through Vantage Deluxe World Travel for an Aegean Cruise on the Harmony V and it was the worst vacation we have ever had. This ship needs to be taken out of commission or totally refurbished. The staterooms are old and run down as are the ship's common areas. Our stateroom "suite" was a sight to behold. The bathroom was covered in black mold and the entire stateroom reeked of mold. The shower door was covered in streaked soap scum for our entire stay - not cleaned. We were told not to flush used toilet paper down the toilet but to put it in the trash can - gross - and the bathroom sink water was not potable. When showering the stall filled ankle deep in water that didn't drain. We used towels to force the water down the drain and sop it up. Never felt clean after showering in a bathroom like this. After two days of complaining about the bathroom to the "hotel manager" a maintenance man was sent to rechaulk the bathroom. When we disembarked the black mold was leeching through again - disgusting and unhealthy. The bed linens were old, rough, tattered and yellowed and the bed and pillows were no better than sleeping on a cot. The carpet was old and stained and need to be replaced. After touring for the day we dreaded going back to this dump of a ship. We have been on many cruises, some better than others, but always a good experience. This $14,000 vacation was a disappointing, disgusting rip off and I have no idea how Vantage and Variety continue to get away with marketing it as a high end trip. STAY AWAY! Read Less

If it wasn't for the fantastic people we met and the crews professionalism this cruise would of totally destroyed the Greek Islands for me. The people we met are the only reason I didn't disembark this cruise within the first two days. The only mega thing about the boat is that it's in need of mega maintenance. Toilets that block , brown water from showers. Uncomfortable beds, white towels that have turned brown and crusty, dirty outdoor furniture to name a few things. Now please don't get me wrong the staff were amazing given the poor equipment and environment they had to work within. I have been on small cruises before and this was a huge disappointment . Please don't waste your time or money I've had better experiences on larger boats. THIS CRIUSE IS NOT WHAT THEY ADVERTISE Read Less
