We wished to do a Transatlantic with interesting stops rather than an A . B We were happy to go on the Deliziosa as we were satisfied with our 2 previous cruises After reading the Carnival annual report for 2016 some of the sub standard services on this cruise were inevitable The company is cutting costs to maintain profitability. The embarkation in Venice was the usual Costa shambles that took forever - this time worse than usual, as it rained in Venice so no.one visited the port and everyone wanted to board at once. You would think it was the first time Costa was loading passengers Once on board we had lunch in the Buffet The ship looked fine and the cabin was ready early with the luggage inside. The only issue was a badly stained toilet seat and cabin steward Carlos sorted out a replacement immediately. He always went the extra mile and is a star Most nights the dining room was never open on time and the service was always hectic The dining room is short staffed due to cutbacks and upsets the ambience. Yes Carnival you are saving on costs, irritating your client base, image and damaging the business - an area of gross mismanagement No esteemed Italian themed line would charge for Pizzas or Ice Cream and never serve Ice Cream as a Desert on a 26 day cruise. These cuts you will ultimately cost the line market share The food quality in the Buffet and Main Dining Room was in keeping with the expectations of a middle class ship The standard of entertainment was high and there was always something on the go . The theatre shows were sometimes a bit repetitive ,but it was a relocation cruise. Max the Cruise/Entertainment Director really had the ship buzzing fantasti job and did a Table clearing in the Buffet and on the outside decks was very slack management The selection of ports and the variety of port excursions were more than adequate although some excursions, perhaps, were a little pricey We noticed that the few young children on the ship seemed to have lots of fun We chose to do the Port visits alone as most of the times were fairly short Disembarkation in Miami unfortunately also had some hiccups We requested and had an early departure agreed, then we were given 2 different sets of labels for times much later and needed to go to reception to fix the error, to be told our name should be on the early list, when the list was checked our name was there, not good.- some passengers missed their transport as they did not change their labels and left the ship late We probably would cruise with Costa again but with all the Nickel and Diming one needs to be sure of what to expect.Beware the cruiseline varies the facilities included in the price, from cruise to cruise A guy I met in the sauna summed it up, a Volkswagen will not give you the trimmings that a Mercedes will! I chose this cruise because of the itinerary mostly. Even though I had heard negative comments for Costa, I thought I might try it. No cruise line is perfect. There was a slight language barrier, but that was to be expected. It was an Italian ship. The food was HORRIBLE. Everything was extra. Everything on the ship was in other languages, so it was difficult to participate. Children were allowed EVERYWHERE. There was not a place to get away from them. Even bars and casinos! We bought an expensive drink package. It was very difficult to get a drink. Servers were very nice and accommodating, but still difficult to get a cocktail. Kids would be sitting at the bar. Apparently, that's ok for the Italians. I did not care for that one bit. I did not see a buffet after 8 pm. You could not really get food (and several nights the dinner was so disappointing, I didn't eat much of it) unless you PAID for it. Are you kidding me? An ice cream cone was 1.50 Euro. No free ice cream on a cruise? Read Less

This was my 3rd cruise on Costa and absolutely terrible. The port times were by far the shortest of all the cruise ships. I emailed the cruise line numerous times to ensure one of the three cabins are a twin (and received confirmation in writing it will be done) which did not happen. There was a number of hidden expenses, with a total of nearly 500euros. Previously when on a cruise I was used that everything in the cruise was included. This time around you had to pay for every single thing additional, including playing table tennis. The 4D movie machine broke and we were sent back 3 times to go and watch the movie on different days and every-time you get there, it is still broken. Bad communication by especially the front desk. We were told to buy bingo tickets at X point but when you get there, they have changed the location without informing anyone. Then again none of the activities started on time. Followed the instructions for online check in one month prior to departure and was already on the way to the airport and still haven't received everyone's boarding passes and luggage tags which we had to print beforehand. Only two very small pools on board and with a large number of kids on board, could not make use of the pool or jacuzzi as there was just no space. The public bathrooms in communal areas were not cleaned regularly. Our sea day had bad weather and the ship is not geared to accommodate everyone indoors and the activities hosted resulted in people 'hanging around' because there is no place to sit. The drinks packages are badly compiled, i.e. on our drinks package we could get a whiskey and soda, but cannot get a bottle of soda on its own. You had to buy a water package additional. We could get cocktails but no orange juice. On the soft drinks package you can get cocktails, soft-drinks etc, but cannot get a coffee. After 09:30pm you cannot get any drinking water on the cruise, unless you pay exorbitant fees for water from the minibar. Nor do they allow you to fill your water bottle from the fountain (which is also disconnected at night) Neither can you get a cup of coffee before 07:00am and some days 07:30am, unless you contact room service. When they changed ports during the cruise, due to weather concerns they provided no information about the new destination. Also some of the unfriendliest serving staff at the bars. The bars was also badly staffed so you waited most times at least 10 - 15min for a drink. The breakfast buffet served the same food every single day with no variance. Lunch was the same everyday with only one meat option changed (some days). The dinners was average. Will not recommend to anyone. Read Less

This cruise went to all the places we wanted to visit. Our cabin had a balcony and was very clean and comfortable. Our cabin steward Pravin from India was very friendly and efficient. We thought the food was good and in the sit-down restaurant there was a lovely waiter, another Indian called Jackson. In the late afternoon we would usually visit the Bar Marabile where there was another great character, a waiter from the Philippines called Marck. We had a beverage package so we didn't find that we didn't have extra expense from ordering drinks throughout the day. Our only criticism of Costa is that they sent us a questionnaire after the cruise, they had told us that favourable reviews of excellent staff would improve their chances of promotion. However all the questions were "fill in the dots"and no personal input. All the staff were good but that is why I've mentioned our favourites on this site. We didn't really take part in activities except for a couple of quizzes in the bar so I can't offer an opinion although the talent show by the crew is apparently very good. We didn't take part in any shore excursions, preferring to make our own way, partly because the excursions were quite expensive and often a bit long. There was a fierce heat wave at our destinations and we mostly didn't stay longer than a couple of hours ashore. Back at the boat the pool was mostly empty because everyone is off the boat -good tip if you like a quiet pool. Read Less

The sinking of Costa Concordia in 2012 must have taken to the bottom of the sea the whole company rather than just one vessel since cruising with them today it's rather like flying with Ryan air: whatever you do you get charged. We are quite accustom to cruising as we must have had at least one cruise every year for the past 10 years,(last one in november 2016) and we accept to pay extra for extra services or premium alternatives but in this case you get the feeling that you haven't pay for your cruse in full before departure. It's one of the most incredible things for an italian company to charge its passengers for pizza as an expensive luxury extra, not to mention an hamburger, or an ice cream. You get charged to sunbathing in the sun deck, or an egg in the morning if you are used to full breakfast rather than continental, the cinema is not longer free, and you are privilege if you get a "good morning" from any of the staff. Its also impossible to see the evening menu before you sit at the table, as all emphasis is on trying to sell you a meal at 28€ extra before you enter to the main restaurant, where if you do not like the main course all alternatives dishes carry a supplement. The ship's photographer will not survive very long I expect if todays going rate is 19,99€ for a souvenir picture. We have had 2 very pleasant cruises in the orient with Costa Victoria in the past which we liked and had no problem at all, but this is the end of the line for this company. At the end of this year we will be back with our favourite Holland -America line, where crew are bending backwards to please you and customers are not constantly squeezed for their pennies to supplement company's revenue. I am from the States, and I recently got married in Ireland. My husband and I were searching for a nice relaxing cruise to take us around the Mediterranean for our honeymoon. We picked Costa because it was stopping at Santorini and Dubrovnik, the top two places on our list. After boarding the ship, we weren't sure where to go. There was no direction and they immediately took our passports away from us for "safe keeping." That made me nervous because if the ship left without us at port, we would have a much harder time getting back to the states. We got a balcony room and it was spacious and clean, and the ship had two pools and a nice spa. The places where we stopped were wonderful: Corfu, Mykonos, Santorini, Dubrovnik. Other than that, I don't have anything positive to say. The food was mediocre at best. I was expecting hot breakfast, and different food stations throughout the day, but the only options were the buffet or sit down dinner, so if you missed the buffet there was no where to eat. Our waiter at the sit down dinner couldn't be bothered with us. There were days we sat there for 20 minutes before he walked over to say hello and take our order. The cruise may seem like a great deal until you board and realize that EVERYTHING costs extra. Pizza, ice cream at the pool, extra pool towels, even ping pong was extra. I've taken a cruise on Royal Caribbean and they go out of their way to make your vacation wonderful. I was expecting a similar experience, but instead felt like I was always annoying people when I would ask for a drink or had a question. Disappointed we used Costa for our honeymoon. Will never book with them again. Read Less

PORTS were what drew me to try Costa Delizioza because I had originally booked with Norwegian Cruise but they changed itneinary then I booked with Costa. Previously I have travelled in Royal Caribbean.. Celebrity.. Norwegian... But honestly Costa has been so disappointing. The dinners were unappetizing even the breakfast. You would ask for information at the customer service and they were so unwelcoming. The Embarkation and disembarkation was chaotic. The Wi-fi that we paid for was always down . I was Very Stressed after the vacation .Did not experience this with other cruise lines . The best part of the CRUISE was room Steward and Dinner server and the Port Of Santorini Bari and Croatia. The show that was GREAT was the two male Opera singers ...other shows were not entertaining at all. Hope hat this complaint gets to management and an apology is required for the dissatisfaction with so many things. Read Less

I don´t recommend Costa Deliziosa to any body. I chose this cruise because of the many places we would stop, and it was the best decision I ever made! The service was exceptional, especially from Santanu, my waiter, and Ronal, my butler! My favorite hangout was on the 9th deck, at the bar, and the staff there is by far the greatest, funnest group of people ever!! They are simply amazing! I didn't ever want to leave! Everything on the boat was awesome, and the food was very good as well! There were also many other activities including a basketball court on the top deck under the stars, a really exciting race car simulating a real race, a nice casino, with a lot of neat games to play, and a cigar bar next to it, if you smoke, that's easily accessible. The theater was beautiful, and spacious, and the audience even got to vote on the winner of a "Voice" show. The next cruise I go on will be with Costa Deliziosa for sure!! Read Less

I chose this cruise because of the date, ports of call, and number of days. 99% of the people on board, were from Europe, and did not speak English, or very broken English. The food, which I enjoy very much on cruises, was Terrible. The selections were extremely small. I found European people to be very rude and inconsiderate. Early in the morning people were slamming doors, and moving balcony table and chairs. Most every announcements, were spoken in Italian, French, German, and Spanish. English was very limited. One night I pulled the bed sheets down, and found bodily fluid stains, an blood stains on my sheets. I had called the cabin clerk and showed him the sheets, and he told me, it was from the laundry detergent. Other then my stained sheets, the ship was pretty clean. Obviously, the casino crew was very friendly and courteous. The only good thing is, I'll never go on a Costa cruise again! Read Less

chose the cruise because of its itinerary and the stops were great. The ship was very nice and it was easy to get on and off the ship. The service was good and our room was great. The quality of the food and the drink pkg left a lot to be desired. An example would be the beer was served in a Carlsberg glass but was in fact Milwaukee's Best! someone is cutting corners. They ran out of the good whiskey as well. The wine was bitter. Pizza was awful and i have had pizza in Italy and it was amazing. No steak or seafood on the dinning menu although most options were tasty but were simple. The entertainment was singing most nights and we did not enjoy the shows. We would not go on Costa again and would not recomend it when there are so many far better choices. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the price and dates of travel. Embarkation and the ship were fine. This cruise had been marketed to European cruisers with very few Americans on board. Announcements were made in the languages of Europe and then in English. Dining room service was slow and food mediocre at best. Menu included extra cost selections that have been included at no extra cost on all other cruise we have been on(15+). Pizza was extra if you wanted to order one(on an Italian ship)! Ice cream was never free and never offered as a dessert in the dining room. I would not recommend this cruise or cruise line to anyone !!! I will not cruise with Costa again. Enjoyed our cruise, we stayed on board for back to back for 20 days. The true facts. If you are Canadian or American they do write USA water on your ship card, so you can get water or sparkling water at dinner, at no charge. But water is always available at the buffet. You get juice at breakfast only, which is normal on cruises. Coffee and tea is always available at the buffet. Keep in mind this is a Italian cruise line, that caters to many different cultures, so yes announcement are in 6 different languages, if it not in your language it will be if you need to know about it, be patient. We were impressed by the cruise director Max whom could switch languages quickly, nice guy to talk to, and an Italian born Canadian. Now for the different cultures, we found a lot of the Europeans rude, a real me society, you need to let people off the elverator before you barge in, don't jump in front of people in the buffet, don't smoke where you are not suppose to, people 4 tables down don't need to hear your conversation, you don't need to shout. Don't throw your ashes and cigarette butts overboard, don't smoke in your cabins, and don't leave your matters at the airport. And don't treat the staff rudely. I am of European descent and was shocked at these people. It was nice to have a no smoking casino, we were actually able to play in comfort, the machine were fun and we managed to earn a few drinks and make a small amount of money. The drinks earned thou were had to get, you really had to go out of your way to find an attendant and waiter. We had a supreme balcony cabin on the 6th floor, the room is large with lots of storage, great balcony, but some days hard to enjoy with all the smokers, Costa one of the few cruise lines that still offer this, which I found dangerous because of the rude smokers flicking there ashes and cigarette butts overboard. Our cabin Stewart Jesmar, was wonderful, a very hardworking young man, always making sure that everything was perfect for us. Dinners in the dining room were wonderful, and yes they are slow paced, but what else do have to do? Enjoy your dinner and have fun with your dining guest. Both cruises we had a great group of people we ate with. The food is very good, you have a great variety and lots of courses, so you will get full. Breakfast and lunch in the dinning room, were ok, but most of the time the food was good, but a real language bearer with other guest they would sit you with, wish they would sit you with other English speaking guest. The evening entertainment was good, some shows were better than others. The dancers were very high engery. The pool areas were always crowded, very hard to find a chair as most were reserved from first thing in the morning with no one sitting in them for hours. The pools and hot tubs were filled with kids, it would be nice to keep the back area as adults only. Also they allowed smoking on one half of the back pool, area, you could not sit out there to eat as the smoke drifted everywhere and the smokers smoked wherever, RUDE. And the security people turn the other way, I would have to ask security to tell these rude smokers to butt out. We found that costa has cut cost such as less staff only 900 staff to 3000 guest, no lobster dinner, cruise ports were we had to tender was very slow as there was less tender boats and smaller ones. They also landed on less desirable cruise docks that were cheaper docking fees. Also I noticed that a large number of staff smoke, and they always hung out on the 2 level outside, these were mostly maintance, and shop staff where did they get all the free time, while the other staff members in house keeping and food services barely had time to sleep. This deck was the best deck to walk on and was always filled with smokers and ashes, terrible, Read Less

We have been on past Costa cruises, and enjoyed them, and therefore booked this one, expecting to also enjoy it. It was a disappointment. First, let me mention some good things. The cabin staff was friendly and hard working, and the cruise director, Max, was excwllwnt. But, the restaurant experience was average to mediocre, and very disappointing. The serving staff seemed to be short-handed, and poorly trained. The meal service was haphazard. The menu was oddly planned. As an example, when chickwn parmigiana is offered, one should be able to have it with a side dish of pasta. Instead it was presented with french fries! Lobster was frozen and of very poor quality. Coffee was not offered, so it was necessary to ask for it. Then the server brought it to the person asking for it without asking anyone else if they might want some. The menu is not available before hand, either posted outside the dining room, on the room TV, or on the website. The Maitre-D was arrogant and generally unfriendly, never greeted guests upon entry, and seemed uninterested in making guests feel welcome..When guests stayed too long, the MaitreD would turn the music volume to a high level as a signal to leave, rather than have the waiter say something. This was very rude and insulting. In summation, the dining room experience was very disappointing compared to the many other cruises we have taken, both on Costa and other lines we have been on. The food in the buffet dining option was uninspired and repetitive. The breakfast options were always identical and boring, and lunch and dinner only varied sjightly. In addition, the hours were inadequate. Often we walked around looking for an open buffet station. The formal entertainment in the theater was very good, both in variety and quality. However, the first two rows had signs saying they were reserved for suite guests, yet no announcements or other enforcement was done, so everyone sat there. What is the point of this? The various other events held around the ship were average to poorly done. In summation, the cruise was very disapponting. We have been on almost 20 cruises, and this was the first to leave us feeling this way. Read Less

My mother and I (20-year-old daughter) were traveling for the first time on a cruise - but with that said we have been traveling around the world since I was born; which of course mean that we have seen and experienced quite a lot and therefore are a bit critical about our surroundings and vacations. We are VERY shocked to see so many critical and harsh reviews here on this site. Really, it is so unexpected. Well let’s start our review on this amazing vacation! Surroundings: From the second you step in at Costa Deliziosa you immediately get goosebumps. The atmosphere is incredible! Not only are you welcomed with the most smiling, accommodating (and well dressed) crew members, but also a multitude of delicious, beautiful, and luscious environment. Everything (and everyone) had this amazing attitude and charisma – and you would not be able to keep yourself from smiling and feeling exciting. From the first second, we sat food on Costa Deliziosa, we were so thrilled and loved it instantly! They have without a doubt thought about everything, to every single detail. Every deck has it own charm and impression. From the huge globe on the main deck (deck 2), the external elevators, to the carvings, the decorations and colors – everything is created to make their guests drop their jaws. Cabin: As a middleclass cabin, we could not expect more or less. It is very cozy and it is not a place you are ashamed to call your temporary home. There is everything you need and there is always very clean and nice – without any exception. The beds might not be the softest, but it is not a metal bed! Dinning: There is a lot of different opportunities to satisfy your hunger – also if you are picky as my mother and I. You can choose for yourself where you would like to eat, there is a lot of different restaurants. There is buffet where you have a huge variety of food in morning and at lunch (deck 9), and there is the classic restaurant style where the waiter will come to the table for requests. Even though there is some restaurants you have to pay for, (unless you have some special package), there is still a lot of variety of opportunities. At dinner there is not a very big variety at the buffet – but it should still be satisfying for the most. The food (especially breakfast) is of great quality, is very viand and there is a huge variety to satisfy your hunger no matter what kind of food you like. High praise to the absolutely delicious bread and their huge variety of desserts (changes every day). The only negative thing (yes, we still have to be critical at some points, right?) ice cream should be included in the dessert standers and you should not be paying for it. Pizza should also be included in the evening (not only at lunch). The variety at the buffet should be bigger at night. Entertainment: It is differently your own fault if you are bored aboard a cruise. Deliziosa offers a lot of different entertainment all day and all night. The animation team make sure that there are games, dance and sport all day and creates some funny activities at night for the different theme nights. If you would rather relax at the pool(s) or get some tan, there a plenty of opportunities for this as well. Deck 11 is the best place for tanning, it is not as crowded, there is a lot of space and it is also a bit cooler up there. It is very important to remember a lot of different night gowns and suits – of course if you want to blend it at the different themes, if not do not worry – you are still more than welcome. The themes at our cruise were: 70’s night, 80’s night, Gala, Caribbean night, Italian night, masquerade – just to name a few.) Again, it is really your own fault if you are bored. There is so many places to see and be on at cruise. Do yourself a favor and explore it all! There is many cafés, bars, shopping, fitness, spa, and discotheque. Every night there is also some performance in the theater with the best dancers and singers ever seen. They are incredible (and very beautiful/handsome – that should be enough to make you want to go!). Such a beautiful and creative scenery that chances every night. Simply amazing! Crew members: I just read a pretty nasty review from the same time as we were on the ship – saying the crew was unfriendly. It made me really angry. The person has to be very negative and not very outgoing. I think I had to reply to a greeting thousand of times a day! Everyone was so friendly, smiling and extremely kind. Everyone had a big heart and everyone wanted to speak with us. Many of them knew us by name after the first day. From the moment, you step onto the cruise, you are greeted with the sweetest, helpful and amusing crew. I would really like to thank them all, and it is very heart breaking that I cannot remember all of the names. All the gentlemen from the animation team were the sweetest and differently made our stay even greater and for sure unforgettable. They have to be highly praised for their humor, entertainment skills and the way they always made sure that everyone had a blast. Simply genius. My mother is really not a person that likes to dance, be on a stage or like to get involved in the entertainment – but they manage to do so! And she loved it. A huge, special thanks to the gentlemen of the animation team (especially Agusto and Michéle), our so sweet and lovely cabin steward Ade, all the waiters from deck 9 (especially my dear waiter with the glasses from the Philippines and the head waiter/manager, sorry dear we cannot remember your names), the photographers, Larisa and Alvaro. In general we would love to thank ALL OF THE COSTA DELIZIOSA CREW for making our vacation so unforgettable. Every one of you should get this high praise for being so accommodating and forthcoming. There is NOT A SINGLE bad thing to put on the crew members! You have become our second family and we miss you all (and everything) so badly – which is why we already have booked a new costa cruise! Another thing that strikes me in some of the reviews is that you should not book at this company if you do not speak Italian. My mother and I are from Denmark and does not speak a word Italian. We did just fine with our English. Everyone understood us perfectly and with that said everyone might have learned Italian (it is a Italian company, so why blame them?) the crew members came from all over the world: Germany, Spain, Italian, Brazil, Mauritius, Philippines, India, Peru, Indonesia, South Africa and much more! That is many different nationalities and ALL of them speak just fine English! Ports: Fort Lauderdale (& Quality Inn & suites) If you have some spare time before or after the cruise, there is differently a lot of things to see in Fort Lauderdale. Like the Everglades and there should be a lot of shopping as well (We did not had so much time to explore it all). Miami should be even greater to explore. We had one night at Quality Inn & Suites which is a fine hotel for a night or few. The breakfast is good (not as great as the Cruise’s but there is enough variety to satisfy your hunger). Very soft beds and clean rooms. It is very close to the Port Everglades and there is a free shuffle bus to the Cruise Terminal. It is recommended if you should have a night in Fort Lauderdale before boarding the cruise. Bahamas - Nassau, Dominicans republic - Amber Cove, Jamaica - Ocho Rios, Cayman Islands - George Town, Honduras - Roaten, Mexico - Cozumel/Playa del Carmen: There is not many activities on the different islands but browse around the excursions papers in your cabin and you will get to know what there is to see, but be aware the prices is pretty expensive, and you can do it cheaper yourself (still many money you have to spend, but again, it is cheaper to do it by yourself and the taxis and tour excursions is there as soon as you go ashore). We differently recommend swimming with stingrays and visit the Dunn River Falls (very beautiful scenery!). If you have not tried to swim with dolphins, it is differently a thing to do as well! My mother and I have tried it a few years back so we did not do it again, but many recommend it! They are really sweet animals! The islands have many beautiful scenery, nature and beaches – and if you want to do shopping that is not survivors do not bother to try on the islands you visit. There is really not much to come for. If you want to do some hardcore shopping, you should differently pay a visit at Playa Del Carmen, when you come to Cozumel. There is a like never-ending shopping street and it only takes 30 minutes from Cozumel to Playa Del Carmen with boat and it is cheap. If you are traveling with some anti-shoppers, put them on the beach – it is simply amazing! And plenty of restaurants as well! We differently recommend Costa (and this route) to everyone! Keep going! The positive is embarkation was easy...probably too easy. Even though we didn't have all documents to board, got through without any hassles. Nice to leave at 11pm vs 5pm, so more time. First the good....was upgraded from inside to a balcony. Not sure why, but the cabin was the best part of the trip, besides the itinerary. Spacious and large. Sonia our cabin steward was excellent. No issues there. The excursions were excellent....Nassau, Roatan, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, and Ocho Rios. A lot of ports for 10 days, so not bored. Food both in dining room and buffet was below average in terms of quality and choice. Very disappointed with food. Most good selections you were charged i.e. steak, lobster, etc. Specialty restaurants also above $25/pp...theirs $35/pp. Also charged for ice cream and pizza. Service was poor in terms of customers service and friendliness in buffet area. They did not say hello or look you in the face...just did their job. When a person complained to lip stick on a cup, told, "Just get another cup". Very surprised on the attitude of people servicing us. Formal dining staff good, Sheryl in particular. To recognize a person working on Costa, their is no mechanism. Maybe that's why they only do "their job" and are not so people friendly. When we asked for conditioner for hair, told you are not in suites, only balcony so not available for you! Poor customer service again. Will not take a Costa ship again.....person who booked for us said like an "European Cruise".....must have hinted at poor service, etc. Other Americans and English speaking passengers were also not pleased with the ship, food, and service. Normally love cruises, but will remember great room and ports with poor food and service.... Read Less

It was not overly expensive, and went to ports we hadn't been to before. The food was terrible everything was oily. The drink package we purchased did not match what they said we had. The crew was very unfriendly to Americans and was all for the Italians and we were made to feel like second class passengers. The Captain would walk right by and wouldn't even say hello. On the website they talk about the Grand Prix simulator but it never worked during our whole cruise. I would never take a Costa Cruise again.Americans were excluded from certain activities because we only speak ENGLISH.The beverage package online said it included bottled water, but after we were onboard ,we were told americans could only have water by the glass!! Bottled beer was not available for us either. IF YOU ARE BOOKED ON THIS SHIP CANCEL IT!!!! Our disembarkment was the only thing they got right........ Read Less

I chose this cruise for my family because the price was good for a New Year Cruise and my parents had had a great experience on Costa 10 years! Well, they have a different opinion now! They charge for everything! After 10am, you cannot find coffee onboard unless you pay for it! (I have to say the quality of the coffee is excellent). You should see my 72 year old mom rushing from her room in the morning, so she would not have to buy coffee! They serve microwaved food! Its actually written on the menu; There are also items on the general dining room menu that come at a price (no lobster for you, unless you pay for it of course). There is a fresh pizza service by the buffet area, but of course, you have to pay for it. (No children's menu really in the restaurants, certainly no pizza or chicken fingers) Service in the dining room takes forever, the waiters obviously overwhelmed! Even in the paying restaurant we went to for our anniversary, service was very slow and the food disappointing. Room service (food) is just a mess! Lines at the buffet are horrendous! Instructions were not clear on how to get out of the ship one morning at a port! So passengers kept being sent from one exit to the next, until finally one of them took pity on us (we were quite a crowd by then, 25 to 30 passengers) and accompanied us where we needed to go. Our room steward was great and helpful! Dessert was just amazing (the pastry chef had not yet quit obviously). I WILL NOT EVER TAKE COSTA AGAIN! Read Less

Got an excellent price for the three of us in a balcony stateroom, so had to give it a go. Always wanted to try Costa so this seemed like a good opportunity. Our tickets said borading would commence around 1PM so we arrived at the pier at 11:45 so we could check in and be ready to board and head for the sun beds. Instead we spent the day in the terminal. Doors to terminal opened at 1PM, we were checked in by 2PM and boarding commenced around 3PM. We walked across the gangway at approx. 4PM. We received our boarding numbers at check in, but no numbers were called. Awful start to the week. Headed directly to the buffet since we were starved. Italian lunch it said, but was very poor. Meat was dry and tough, pasta was overcooked and it was generally barely edible. We got the first sitting for 6:15 and shared a table with two Danes for the rest of the week. We were five people at a table for eight. That is nice isnt it? We tried to get our own table for Christmas dinner but that wasn’t possible, even though we saw lots of table free. All week, we received poor service in the MDR. Drinks: If we ordered a bottle of wine, the waiter poured the first glass and the sat the bottle at the table, no refills were done. Had to ask for a cooler and ice three times the first night. Had to pour our own water, and if I ordered soda, he placed an un-opened can at the table. I would at least expect him to open it and pour a bit. He was very busy each night having 7 large tables alone with no assisting waiters. Cost cutting big time. Food in the MDR were mostly mediocre with a few good dished, and some times really inedible dishes. Costa does not have any pizza in the buffet, you are forced to pay 6,50 euros for it in the pizzeria. Pizza tastes good but beer was served in plastic glasses. Not very nice. There were constant queues around the ship, and always at least 30 minutes wait time at the pursers desk. Cleanliness of the ship wasnt too good with lots of dust in many many places. The decor of the ship is really tacky too with lots of bright colours. Bar staff were quick but often mixed up orders. Some of the shows were pretty good, others were not so. There wasn’t much else going on around the ship, day or night. We wanted to remove the daily gratuities since we received such poor service. Only Germans and Americans were able to do so. During the week we visited: Cozumel, docked: Did an excursion to Chicen Itza which was pretty good. Belize City, tender: We waited 2,5 hrs for our tender which is insane! Took a city tour which was interesting, then walked around on our own. Roatan, Honduas, docked: Weather was poor so just had a short walk around the tourist village and beach. Grand Cayman, tender: Tender were quicker here, only 1,5 hrs wait time. Expensive shopping, just a quick lunch then back onboard. Overall, Costa did not take good care of us, and we will not recommend Costa to our friends, nor will we probably not book them again. A lot have to change before we may try again, mainly customer service. Read Less

This cruise took us to Cozumel, Belize, Honduras and Grand Cayman. There was no description above that fit it perfectly. The cabin was spacious and allowed us to put all our things away and store the luggage under the bed. The beds were hard, the pillows thin and not at all comfortable. It took three trips to customer service and two days to get the twin beds that we had requested instead of the king size and to get the broken door handle on the balcony door fixed. The customer service staff were rude, and not at all helpful. We had a bottle of wine each which they took when we boarded and told us they would be delivered to our room. Three trips to the service desk later, we found out the day before we arrived back in Ft. Lauderdale that we could not have them until we left the ship. We had a drink package that covered draft beer, wine, cocktails and special coffee drinks but we had to pay for a bottle of water or orange juice. The food was awful. The breakfast/lunch menus were the same day after day and the trays of meat and cheese etc. were not replenished in a timely manner. The dinners were lovely to look at but absolutely tasteless and we can not say that we enjoyed a single meal. An example is the lobster bisque on Christmas eve; it was a brown fishy smelling broth that after one taste, no one would eat it. The prawns were warm instead of chilled, the lobster dry and overcooked and the beef was tough. The desserts were good, as was the bread, but I did not go on a cruise to survive on bread and dessert. There were almost no english speaking people aboard as it was a repositioning cruise before we boarded in Ft. Lauderdale. The servers at the bars, around the pool and the dining room were lovely, but the rest of the crew were arrogant and unhelpful. I almost got knocked over by one of the officers and he did not even say he was sorry or an excuse me. The day trip we took from Belize to Zip Line and Tube in the Crystal Caves was outstanding. It was great value for money and the staff were fabulous. The Folklore Trip from Cozumel was also quite enjoyable, The entertainersd were very good as well. We really enjoyed the shows. Altogether we made eight trips to the Service Desk and the last time to get help with the internet. The gal grabbed my phone worked it and then handed it back to me while rolling her eyes with no help with how I accessed it myself. My sister asked her if she actually liked her job, bercause you sure couildn't tell it from how she treated people, I will never ever go on another Costa cruise. It was a huge dissappointment and a waste of the vacation days.. Read Less
