Very disappointing, ship tired and staff very lacklustre, not one member of staff went that extra mile, Hygiene not enforced at all surprising considering that they had noro virus a few weeks before. Entertainment team non existent, buffet food appalling, dining room just satisfactory, poor service and no interaction, served as if we were in a fast food establishment. We had an issue with over charging so went to Customer relations to sort out, assistant started to deal with our problem then just answered the telephone whilst we were in the middle of a conversation when I pointed out that this was rude he replied that it was a medical emergency, but surely these calls should be taken in private, I don’t think it’s very professional as I heard all the details of the illness and their room number. Guest were cross between benefit street and Butlins, unfortunately P & O have lowered their prices so this has resulted in dropped standards in all areas. If you like Benidorm then this is for you, but personally I will rather spend more and go on Celebrity or Azamara. We found it quite amusing that our room steward hardly spoke to us at all for the entire cruise, but on disembarkation he was hovering around no doubt expecting a tip, which we would have gladly given if we had any form of service from him. Disembarkation an actual farce, we chose to take off our own luggage but they couldn’t even get the right deck number to exit some we’re saying deck 6 whilst our paperwork said deck 5! Wouldn’t rush to book another P & O cruise unless I was desperate for a cheap no frills get away. Read Less

it was our first 7 night cruise experience ... our Cabin Stewart was 5* star right from the word go, he went above and beyond the call of duty, he most amazing, incredible man I've ever had the pleasure of meeting and talking to, the cabin was also clean, tidy and presentable. the Shamrock Tenors Irish group were a 1000* stars vote from me, they delivered an utterly INCREDIBLE and I mean INCREDIBLE set both in the Manhatten Bar {this is where I saw them perform} but I was also told they delivered the most amazing off the charts insane performance in the Playhouse Theatre {I was told by Passengers} Eric Landlard Afternoon Tea is a MUST DO in the Epicuran Restaurant trust me its incredible. the ONLY entertaintment worth seeing was .. 1: the Headliners Theatre Company & Stephen Mulhern with their magic show ''Astronishing'' and the Irish Group ''The Shamrock Tenors} {this is why I would only give these two entertainment acts 5* stars} NOW FOR MY BAD MOANING DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT order Room Service for lunch as its only Included in you're cruise packages for Breakfast and Evening Dinner IF you have 3 adults in a cabin and 1 of them doesn't drink alcohol don't worry as you people who drink alcohol can still have their alcohol drinks package and the person who doesn't drink can have an NONE alcoholic drinks package for the same cabin {despite P&O Cruises drinks package wording saying different - we were told that by a P&O rep who called today about feedback for our cruise} the hot food in the Freedom Dining Restaurants were NEVER EVER hot like they should be when cooked at temperature {it was either luke warm hot food or cold hot food} the Country Line Dancing / Salsa Dancing should NOT have been organised on the stairs of the Altrium Shopping Centre as it is a way too SMALL area and not everyone can take part as its way too tiny area the Rotterdam, Netherlands Excursion Tour was YAWN / DULL / BORING although I couldn't attend this tour due to suffering with an extreme bad headache which was making me ill, apparently I was told this again was just a normal high street chocolate shop / cafe tour with NO demostration as promised in the excursion summary The Ice Cream Parlour on board was difficult to find, once found it said on our Cabin Leaflet that The Ice Cream Parlour closes at 7pm I arrived there at 6:25pm to find it CLOSED but the rest of the Entertainment was Rubbish and not worth seeing the P&O Company seriously needs to take the ship Azura off its cruise list and OVER HAUL IT / modenise it as it needs a Cinema, it needs a Cookery School{like the Brittania}, it needs a LIVE LOUNGE etc they did more on board activities for SOLO travellers than families or adults travelling together and finally the WIFI is way over priced, you can't get WIFI in you're cabins and they need the CLOUD WIFI installed on all levels within their Azura ship rather than their own P&O Wifi which is utterly crap all over the ship Read Less

For warm Caribbean weather. Great staff on board, lovely passengers. Mediocre food. Dreadful cabin on deck 14 immediately under pool deck where noisy activities, night and day. No respite from silly sail away parties to late night revels. Crew banging heavy items around late night and very early morning. Very poor entertainment. All the music was geared up to a younger generation than the mainly retired or elderly cruisers. The Headliners group were enthusiastic and quite talented but the material was wrong, again, geared for a younger audience. The drinks are overpriced, as are the shore tours. Although the food was mainly acceptable it was only of moderate quality. The beef was always tough, as were the pork chops. The only decent meat was the ever popular lamb shank. The parts of call were not at very salubrious places. In the towns immediately in the docking area, it felt a bit unsafe to walk around. In summary, apart from the excellent crew and passengers, the cruise was a bit dreadful. Read Less

We were on the Azura for a month over Christmas and New Year 2018-19, in a deluxe balcony cabin. The furniture is now old and a bit tatty, told due for a refit in 2021. The other parts of the ship are holding up well, overall, the ship is tidy and in good shape with some nice touches by way of decorations. The entertainment of an evening was fairly good, not outstanding but, better than the year previous on Britannia. However, for us after 21years of sailing on P&O UK with over 60 cruises under our belts, this will be our last cruise with them as their standards of service now, apart from the cabin steward, was pretty low grade. The food in the buffet of a lunchtime was both repetitive and cheapness all-around, with the same offerings everyday and the hot plates were of an extremely low grade cuts and poor quality. No doubt about it, even the bread offered was not fresh, indeed the rolls were clearly from what had been left over from the previous day from all of the other dining options of the previous evening. Not once at lunchtime was there sliced bread available to make a simple sandwich, you are forced in the buffet to eat a plate of food or a hot low grade meal. The excuses are, we offer on deck a pre made sandwich for you, they too were low grade and the same every day, no choice and no options. Of an evening, the food was a little better but not outstanding and not worth remembering, again well written menus with creative writing but the quality of the food was poor. Even the waiters did not know what some of the items describe actually were. If you are looking for a quality dining experience and have not been on P&O for a few years, you will be bitterly disappointed with what is being offered now. Everyone I spoke to, said they were disappointed with the food. Only a few of the cheapie last minute bookings who had never cruised previously, thought that the food was anything other than disappointing. They even stopped asking you for your opinion now after the cruise, we never received a questionnaire whether in paper form or via the internet. The ships officers are nowhere to be seen, only 1 bar Indian head waiter´s around the ship. The front desk were never welcoming, I guess because of the level of complaints. Never will we step foot on a P&O ship again, after this very bad and month long experience. It also seems that P&O UK have adopted the P&O Australia method of attracting drunken idiots, to drink beer and alcohol all-day, stopped the allowable bring your own spirits to your cabin onboard, now saying as all do, we will save your prized duty free purchases safely in our store room that you buy ashore until you disembark. It is evidently clear, by the number of people being ejected from this ship, that alcohol plays a large part in how the ships now operate and how they sell so much of the stuff from 10 am in the morning to 4 am in the morning. Remember if you want a quality cruise and not a booze cruise don´t choose P&O UK. Read Less

First and last cruise with P&O Azura.Sailed from Barbados on 15/12/2018 on 2 weeks Caribbean cruise at a total cost of nearly 5000£ for me and my girlfriend ,just to be very very disappointed with everything. The inside cabin we had was a small ,dirty box with dirty carpet, dirty furniture, dirty little toilet .The cabin has not been cleaned properly in the 2 weeks we were on the ship.We caught a terrible chest infection during our stay which basically ruined our holiday,Christmas and my birthday(thanks P&O).The food in the buffet restaurant was absolutely rubbish, dirty plates and cutlery, rubbish coffee,we bought coffee from costa every day.We have skipped loads of meals during our stay.Staff on the ship ok but some of them don’t understand English unfortunately. We have bought 5 excursions, not cheap waiting a long time for old people to get on and of the catamaran or boat.Lunch included in the excursions where shocking, burgers and hotdogs disgusting ,paid extra to eat to eat a proper lunch. The excursion were ok at least we were away from Benidorm on the sea with all the characters on board. On the end of the cruise we have paid our bill but P&O put on top a preauthorisation of 800£ on my girlfriend card putting her account in overdrawn. We are never going to use this company again because they are overpriced,no standards absolutely disgusting,Azura ship should be scrapped. I chose this cruise for a relaxing break as it was my Birthday . 7 nights departure from Southampton on the 12th October 2018. This cruise was a nightmare from beginning to end and would not recommend it to anyone. Its all about the money and not customer guest satisfaction or respect. This ship should never have left Southampton as there would have been weather warnings. We were in a hurricane and the ship was rocking so fiercely we were very sick for days confined to our cabin. No tv signal and when we complained was blamed on the weather, but there were no new films like on other ships, so nothing we could watch anyway. Toilets out of order on board and very smelly. smelly lifts and corridors. The breakfasts were very poor so we didn't bother to attend breakfast. The Buffet was the same every day and not a lot of choice neither in the restaurant in the evenings. Menu seemed to be the same daily. We missed a Port in Spain and were very upset as we really wanted to visit there. Money was taken from our account without our permission which distressed us further and items were added on our account for things we did not purchase or drink at various bars as we don't drink alcohol. Our beautiful clothes on a rail by the toilet with no doors. Grey unsightly towels we had to complain and asked stewardess for soft white towels, she replied they don't really have them. I was appalled. What a disgrace. the list goes on.C250 Read Less

We chose this cruise for a week of relaxation and good food and to see places we hadn’t seen before. We badly needed this holiday. We could not see Viga due to bad weather! It was horrible.... noisy crowded and our cabin dirty. Butlins would have been better. The food was bland and often cold . The cabin was awful. We paid £2600 plus for a super delux cabin. Money we worked hard for wasted. There was chocolate and peants on the floor.., past horizon mags from previous guests shuffed In the pocket. The phone was dirty and sticky. Coffee cup stains on the side board. The carpet was wet by the entrance.. A towel remained on the floor for three days and stank the cabin out. The deck manager came to see us twice. Said they couldn’t move us as only inside cabins and cabins at a higher grade! We were offered a bottle of p and o house wine as compensation. The whole experience was horrible. Will never ever go p and o again! Read Less

My wife had a specific diet entitled a "thick pureed diet" and we sent all relevant documentation before we booked and p & o customer services sent them direct to the azura who replied that this diet would be no problem so we booked. The first evening meal the soup was served with bits of leaves in it directly against directions in this diet and it then went from bad to worse! On two evenings she was served a bowl of water that stank of fish! The thick puree should stand in its place when served if you place a fork on top of it it should leave an imprint of the fork in the food and you should be able to eat the food with the fork without it falling through the tines of the fork. So how can a bowl of smelly water comply with those instructions? The instructions we sent showed how to make a thick puree diet how to thicken it up or thin it down if need be to get the right consistency. This was never done in all meals for 9 days! By this time my wife was starving so we went to the buffet each night to see if there was anything she could eat there like soft deserts with custard! The meals served were too thick one day or like water the next or had very large lumps in it or garnishes or leaves all against the instructions we sent! It was just as if the chefs on board could not be bothered or it was done out of spite! The only other conclusion is that it was incompetence or not one chef on board knows how to prepare a thick puree diet. Obviously we rate the dining as nil/zero absolutely awful. Entertainment was ok but its time jimmy james retired! I enjoyed the quizzes but I always do. The manahement were appalling re the food issues. They did nit help at all! Overall very poor and we will not travel with P & O again! Read Less

When we arrived at our cabin, there was blood on one of the pillows. Also, the ship did not appear to have been deep-cleaned. P&O do not seem to cater well for those with disabilities. It was difficult for my wife to get around the cleaning trolly using her walker. This was because the towels stuck out from the sides. When we docked at Tenerife, the gangway was far too steep for my wife to use her walker to disembark. This resulted in her feeling extremely frightened and having a panic attack. She had to be carried down by three of the stewards. Our holiday was completely spoiled by the men painting the ship. We could not go out on deck. The paint fumes were spread throughout the ship via the air conditioning. This is the third ship we have been on this year and the worst. We loved the Ventura. My wife and I had to visit the ship’s Doctor and several weeks after returning home I am still on medication and this is under review. As previously indicated we are both filled with sadness and extreme disappointment that the holiday we had both looked forward to for a long period of time was completely and utterly ruined because of this unfortunately timed paint job. They did state at reception that it was safe but if it were safe then why were the workmen wearing protective masks? Also the bar staff seemed on edge and this resulted in a tense environment. However, this does not reflect upon the bar staff who were very good indeed. I would never eat a steak anywhere else on board except the glass house. However, this cost us extra each time we had a meal there. The cruise cost enough money, so surely people should be able to eat anywhere on board? Read Less

Picked P&O as it sailed from Southampton and it was easier to get from London with family. But there is literally no comparison with Celebrity cruise. It’s essentially a 2* cruise ship. Key issues: 1. Ship is dated 2. Buffet food is rubbish. Real poor quality 3. Speciality restaurant “Sindhu” is probably worse than your dodgy Indian takeaway. It serves packed naan and frozen paratha !!! 4. Staff at restaurant wasn’t that welcoming 5. Entertainment isn’t great. 6. Sports area are really run down. The golf swing area, basketball court etc were falling to pieces Positives 1. Sails from Southampton so convenient to get there for London folks 2. Good parking and pick up facility 3. We had balcony deluxe room and it was good. The sofa bed for kids was comfortable and so was our bed. 4. The attendant for our rooms was very courteous and efficient. 5. Gym had enough machines and weights. Read Less

Overall, I thought it a floating Butlins for geriatrics. That may sound a little harsh but I expected a lot more for the money. The entertainment was often suboptimal and the food somewhat bland. Portions were small but not a-la-carte; good job there was food to be had elsewhere on the ship afterwards. Of more concern, the ship ran out of the cheaper wines after week one, which was a concern for many people on board. I chose to decline the gratuitous (£98 per head) on arrival and instead tip staff direct who were helpful above and beyond what was expected (€100 for our maid Grace Etc). More disappointingly, the smell of raw sewage at various locations around the ship was distappointing to say the least. Additionally, having to walk through smoking areas to get to the buffet was awful. Not a good experience and I would not recommend unless you’re too old to care what value for money means. Read Less

Went for a week on the Azura. Having now done 13 cruises this has been the worst by a mile. We booked 3 cabins and paid £5685 including a premium to have them near each other as one of our family is disabled and needs our assistance. The ship often stank of sewage, the corridor outside our cabins was often very bad and certain deck areas also stank. The toilets outside shows and bars where often flooded with water and urine. One of our cabins frequently had sewage backing up from the toilet bowl and dripping through the bathroom wall, after 6 days we finally got another cabin we had to spend 2 hours at reception as none of the senior management team would talk to us it was only the intervention of the ships Doctor who was walking past and offered his help by escalating the matter we finally got one replacement cabin, when we arrived at the new cabin the carpet was filthy and the bedding dirty, they did change the bedding. The Buffet food area was grubby, badly scratched tables, buckets catching leaks from the ceiling. The hand gel policy to prevent transmission of bacteria etc is just ignored in the areas. I went to the toilets near the Buffet restaurant all of which had no soap so I walked to the next toilets at the pool again no soap. Only one disabled toilet had soap and none near the eating areas had any soap. The Sunscreen is sold as an attraction but parts of it don't work, being big film viewers we where obviously disappointed, I asked at reception only to be told its been broke for weeks and not going to be fixed soon, it was still in the brochure and no one advises you of this. At 9pm on the last night of the cruise I was offered £200 on board spend which is just an insult as the shops are shutting and I didn't need £200 worth of stuff? P&O offered £200 cheque once I complained when I arrived home which is just an insult for the bad experiance. Read Less

Where to start... Embarkation smooth.Cabin an inside, bog standard but clean and tidy so no issues there. The cabin steward was friendly and tried to sell us water and the mini bar as soon as we got in our cabin. So before muster off to Malibar for a drink,we sat down,3 guys at the bar necking shots at 3.30 in the afternoon swearing like troopers! Not a single member of staff said a word, waiter took our order,30 minutes later our drinks arrived!! So we had to drink them sharpish....off to muster, sailaway indoors because of inclement weather,No problem with that you'd think, you'd be wrong,15 minutes for waiter to arrive, then another 30 minutes for drinks to arrive! Groundhog Day!! And so it goes.. Off to dinner, peninsula restaurant, service efficient if impersonal, wine waiter efficient, food standard, well pretty rubbish... I've cruised with P@O 12 times, last cruise was 4 years ago but boy have they destroyed in that time the quality of the food and choice...seared tuna starter with noodles,3 pieces of translucent tuna,so thin it must have been sliced with a razor blade, overcooked and cold, main, king prawns on stale ciabbata....prawns ok.dessert average, they've removed the always available range....cheese board,a joke, choice of 3 distinctly rubbish cheap cheeses...No stilton.....So all in all not good...Continual sales pitch about the pay restaurants etc....Room service was always included in your fare, not anymore! They now have a tray charge of 7 pounds per person for room service!!!! 14 quid for 2, utterly disgraceful ,I cannot believe they actually justify this way of basically ripping off passengers for every conceivable penny they can get away with, evening entertainment distinctly average, and the first time I've cruised where they've had bouncers on the ship in case of drunken trouble, this is a family ship by the way!! P@O have a responsible drinking policy so that passengers are not troubled by other passengers...This policy obviously doesn't include 2 night cruises or Azura for the ship was quite happy to continue serving people who were clearly very very drunk!! Abusive language abounded...it was no different at all to midnight in your local city's centre....Not a single officer of rank was to be seen anywhere...Public toilets were disgraceful, flooded and stank... Time in port was ok,usual trip into town and did our own thing.Gala dress up night, food in restaurant was anything but special...Marco Pierre white menu, well if he's happy to put his name to that he's obviously skint! Beef wellington...this consisted of tough beef in raw pastry, the pastry was soggy and inedible, the starter consisted of a piece of translucent salmon,I know there's a theme here! With half a quails egg... Wow, not! And the same behaviour as the night before in the lounges and Manhattan's...Removed our tips because of the utter garbage cruise...had to fill a form as to why...it wasn't big enough,P@O charge a tip of 14 pounds per passenger per day!! So a 2 week cruise will cost you an Extra 300 odd quid on top of your holiday fare and bar bill,if you manage to get a drink in 2 weeks and on top of your 14 quid per time if you want someone to walk up to your cabin with a plate of rubbish cheap processed food from the self service restaurant! Which I hasten to add had run out of beans and toast by 0830 this morning......I used to love P@O... but the innuendo it's a luxury great experience is well frankly about as short as pinnochios nose!!! If you want to go back to the days of the 80s drink filled booze cruise on a ferry then P@O Azura will fit your bill perfectly,if you want even half decent service, edible food, good entertainment, and a decent holiday experience without being robbed blind then book a trip with another cruise line.. .It really was that bad.... Sorry P@O... you've lost me after 20 years,I'm sure your not bothered though... Don't waste your hard earned money folks.... I've never been happier to be home. Read Less

Some friends wanted to go on a cruise but wanted someone to go with them, as we have been cruising with Cunard they asked use, as it was there first time and some of there family had been with P&O we said we would go. Well all I can say is BIG MISTAKE, cabins were dirty, you dare not walk with bare feet on the carpet, you could write your name in the dust, it smelt fusty, the bedding was stained and the pillows did not smell too good either, dread to think what the mattress was like. Went and sat on the balcony chair and ended up with filthy trousers. The ship is very tatty, in desperately need of an overhaul, broken chairs and tables around the swimming pool, I cut my hand on one of the tables where it had tiles missing. The dining and food was terrible, we did not have one hot meal, the food was always luke warm, not a very good choice and the layout, WOW what can I say, never new which end to go in to in the buffet . It really ruined our holiday and we heard others had got sick as well. Service in the restaurants were poor and food was just average. Cabins were ok, but the toilet was dirty in one of our rooms. We are in our mid 50's and cruise quite a lot. Mostly Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Princess. We chose this cruise as it was a Transatlantic, stopping at the Azures which we have never visited. We still haven't. The day before we left I got an e-mail from P&O saying we wouldn't be going to the Azores . Reason they gave was stormy weather affecting their operations. They don't say that in their brochure when they tell you that their ships are so large and technologically advanced that stormy weather is of no concern. I wrote to their customer services asking for a better explanation and also to see if they were considering any form of compensation. They say on the website that they respond to queries within 5 days. Well it's been four weeks now and I have received nothing. Customer care ? - don't make me laugh ! So not a good start. We got on board . The muster drill was at 5pm and we were meant to leave Barbados shortly after. However the captain said we had to wait unitl a delayed plane from Gatick arrived and that turned out to be well after midnight. We tried to get off to go into Bridgetown but were told we couldn't . So a really good first night sitting in Bridgetown port. Air conditioning in our cabin wasn't working. I thought this may be due to the ship being still so I waited till next day to see if it improved. It hadn't so I reported it. To cut a long story short, I had to report this for 8 days running before they actually fixed it. Each day I went to reception to be told it was a work in progress. We had an inside cabin. We couldn't breathe. After 8 days when I finally demanded to be moved or else complain directly to the Hotel director, they managed to fix it. Funny that !. Apart from the air conditioning, the cabin was kept extremely clean by our steward Julius who was an absolute pleasure . Food was similar to what you would get in a works canteen and it was always cold. We ate in one cover charge restaurant, the Glass House and it took over 3 hours to get 3 courses.so beware. Waiters were few and far between and it was impossible to get drinks topped up whilst waiting without going to the bar . The dessert was a disgrace - very stale sponge Entertainment was poor with one exception. The ventriloquist who won New Faces was very good. The four young guys who sang were quite good at shouting, as were the P&O singers ( when they weren't miming ). The enrichment lectures from the criminologist were good but with only an 800 capacity in the theatre and 3,500 passengers, you couldn't get a seat. Why not beam it live into the cabins P&O ? - Oh yes I forgot. You aren't buying anything when you are in your cabin. With no stop at the Azures (- Oh wait a minute - they did stop to let someone who was ill off the ship . Their stormy weather excuse just got even weaker ) we had 8 sea days in a row. Bad for the passengers - good for P&O who used the time to sell, sell, sell They say you get what you pay for - not here I didn't. I won't be using P&O again Read Less

Try to get a drink around the pool, no chance normally people are falling over them selves to serve you, not on P & O it's get it yourself. And when you eventually get someone to get you a drink, they basically throw it at you along with your cruise card, will not take empty glasses from you, as it's not their job, so they just roll around the floor. The pool area was very busy with certain groups taking over the jacuzzis all afternoon, drinking using real glass's rather than the plastic ones everyone else had to use. They used the sides to place their glasses and bottles. There were groups of people drinking to excess and jumping in the pool wearing their outdoor shorts, there was no one to stop them. The staff were more concerned in selling them more alcohol. Ordering drinks was a long affair as there wasn't enough staff to serve everyone. The restaurant was no better, trying to get a bottle wine was a long time, we had almost eaten our dinner before we got our wine, even when we pre booked it on the wine channel. The food in the restaurant wasn't up to much, portions have been reduced and much less choice. The choice on the formal night was pretty dire, coming out Lukewarm. One of my grand daughters is a vegetarian and the starter choice was goats cheese and the main course was also goats cheese. When we asked if there was anything else, we were told no, we should have ordered it 2 days previous , which would have been hard as we weren't on the ship then. The staff were slow and uninterested. Having been on the azura seven times before, I can honestly say this was my last time. I think they should just name these cruises booze cruises because it seems p and o are not interested in families, just groups who drink as much as they can in the shortest time. Read Less

By the time you actually get on board and have done safety briefs it's almost 5pm. The day is almost gone. We were delayed getting back on Sunday because a crew member was taken ill yet we were still off the boat and on our way home by 8.30am. You actually only have one full day and a few hours yet are charged for 2 days. Totally disagree with being billed £48 for tips. It's £6 per person per day. Kids should be exempt and it shouldn't be demanded. I'll give a tip if someone deserves it. Our guy wasn't great, he didn't leave bottled water each day for us which we were told he would. He left our door open twice, nothing worse than coming back to an open room and he walked into our room Saturday evening when we were getting ready for dinner. He mumbled something and quickly retreated. Still got no idea what he was there for. Buffet food was horrendous. On Friday night it was either chilli and rice or a very hot and spicy vegetable dish which I tried and couldn't eat. Not what I'd call a wide variety of choice. Cold meats and cheese and crackers were also on offer but I wanted a hot meal. They didn't get much better either. The brochure mentioned a grab and go selection of sandwiches and snacks to take off the boat with you. We wasted half an hour looking for them. The staff we stopped and asked, didn't know what we were talking about. Ended up going to customer services only to be told that they don't do the grab and go on mini cruises! Why mention it in a mini cruise brochure then. You don't get a full day in Bruges. By the time you've queued for breakfast, queued to get off the boat, queued for a coach to the train station, waited for the train and gotten into Bruges, you don't actually have long because you have to be back at the coaches for 4.30pm to get back to the ship because it departs at 5.30pm. We barely did anything because the town was packed and the queues were horrendous. It was a major disappointment, there just wasn't enough time to do barely anything. When we did eventually get back to the ship, the queues to get back on board were huge. It was a hot day so staff came out with a trolley of biscuits and drinks which I thought, great, they've finally done something right. It was short lived because they hadn't got their numbers right and there was only enough for half the queue, the rest of us got to watch the people at the front of the queue enjoy their snack, then get back on board first. Later on, the kids wanted to go swimming but the smoking area which was very busy, surrounds the pool. The kids felt uncomfortable and wouldn't stay. In the evening we went looking for the casino which is in the karaoke bar! Not what we expected. It was packed, noisy, staff were rude and the drinks were definitely watered down. Felt out of place because we had dressed up as per the dress code for the casino but everyone else was in jeans because they were officially in the bar. We needed to check on a cctv camera on Saturday so ended up having to purchase wifi. We were charged £27 for 24 hours!!! RIP OFF! The only half decent thing about the entire trip was the meal in the peninsular restaurant on Saturday evening. It was very good food and the staff were lovely. The dress code to eat there was observed, however, on the rest of the ship, it was non existent. There were a lot of people in jeans and t-shirts everywhere, including the casino. Overall, I think the trip was extremely overpriced for the poor quality that you actually get. About 90% of the staff are Indian that barely speak any English and the majority of those were very rude. It was an awful experience and I would definately not recommend it to anybody. This has put me off ever using p&o again and if you want to see Bruges, make your own way there and give yourself the time to enjoy it because you won't get it with p&o. AWFUL!!!! Read Less

We usually travel on Princess cruises but we booked this cruise as friends of ours were already booked on it. The embarkation went very smoothly which is the only good point of this ship. The fridge was stocked with bottled water and a few cans of Coke Cola which they charged £1.50 for the water this having paid £7000 for the suite. On most cruise ships there is a lot of complaining about one thing or another but I have NEVER been on a cruise ship where the whole conversation was about the appalling food served in the dinning room. Needless to say we used the speciality restaurants quite a lot to avoid eating in the main dining room. The staff were as usual excellent friendly and helpful, we had a butler who's sole job was to bring us canapés at 5 every evening. At least P&O have copied one good thing from Princess in that Suite passengers had a private dining room for breakfast. Would I travel on this ship ever again NEVER. Read Less

We traveled as a group of 17 for the weekend from Southampton to Bruges to celebrate my mother's 75th birthday, while we had a great time this was rather in spite of the cruise experience than because of it. At check in we were left to carry our own luggage to the room and also left to find the room ourselves with no directions, which is less straightforward than you might think. The only thing to greet you on board is a man insisting you use handsanitiser - a pretty obvious precusor of what was to come. The lifts are woefully inadequate for the number of people so be ready to lug your bags up and down multiple floors or have a long wait - a very long wait. The cabins were a pleasant surprise, although of dubious cleanliness. Water was provided the first night but not the second - personally I would drink nothing from the taps and wash hands at every opportunity. Before dinner we had the safety talk which was fine and tried on our life jackets - then explored the ship. Top deck had all the activity late afternoon and was heaving. Two small pools and a few hot tubs - if your thing is getting very drunk and watching status quo from a hot tub along with a few hundred others then good luck. There were a lot of hen parties and it seemed perfect for this. The walk around the top deck was quite short and totally uninspiring. The tennis/football extremely small and full of a lot of well oiled men playing football. Golf nets? Forget it. Gym on the other hand was well sized, quite empty and in a prime location on the ship. We had to go early to dinner (6.30pm) as we were a large group, if you came later there was quite a wait. The food choice was probably about what you expect - prawn cocktail and steak and chips etc. Portions were small and the food mediocre to poor. A pub serving this would struggle. Service is slow - but we were a large group. Wine selection is again poor and at cheap end. After dinner saw the ollie murs tribute band - singer was pretty good, atmosphere was lacking and ollie murs doesn't really have enough hits to sustain a tribute band. Tried to go to Karaoke, but it was too busy. Retired to bed. One of our party was up all night being sick, probably from the food - I think this is almost inevitable with a group of our size on a ship like this. Be ready to be woken at about 7am (6am UK) with a huge shuddering as the ship slows and then an announcement telling you about disembarking for Bruges. Breakfast in most restaurants finishes at 9.30 - 8.30am UK so very easy to miss, not that you are missing much. One restaurant stayed open until 10am (9am uk) - very overfull and queue for poor food. Scrambled eggs from packet, no fresh milk, revolting bacon - surely P&O can do a little better?? My wife dropped her toast on the floor and when she picked it up it was covered in hair, not one or two a matting of hair - this boat is not clean. Our day trip to Bruges was a coach to the city and then 3-4 hours to walk around "at our own pace", well as there were 5000 others it was not really at our own pace, more the pace at which you are drifted along by the huge crowds. Also for a return coach I think c.£30 per head is extortion, I can fly for less - get a taxi quote...Bruges was a pretty city but too busy and very touristy. Chocolate is of course delicious and a good purchase. Back on the boat re-embarkation took about 40 minutes! Sitting on coach and standing in queue - thank goodness we are only doing this for one day. We researched supper more diligently and went to the Glass House - a dinner requiring a supplementary charge (worked out about £10-15) per head. Well worth it as the food was good. Sitting 17 was a challenge, so we arrived early - but the waiter managed it and took it all well. It was 30 minutes though before we were seated with a drink. We were all in black tie as were a lot of other passengers which was a nice touch. Armed with the knowledge of the previous night a small group left dinner early to get a table in the karaoke bar. Spent the rest of the evening subjecting the bored looking passengers to our terrible singing - great fun! Woken again at 6.45am and need to vacate cabin by 8am. Even my 19 year old son arrived fully dressed at 7.20am demanding that we leave ASAP - first time I have seen him before noon for a while. Overall, fun for a hen or stag night - although be prepared to deal with waits and crowding - otherwise go if you a curious about what a cruise on a 3000+ vessel is like as it's about as short as they come and you never have to go again. This was a special treat for a birthday. The activities on board were very poor with an emphasis on darts, bingo, selling diamonds and cosmetic procedures. We had hoped there would be talks on the Caribbean etc but the only "expert" offered Nutrition as a subject!Yoga and Pilates for example cost extra. There was a constant hard sell of excursions, watches, visits to the kitchen (£25), visits to the Bridge (£25) and Wi Fi cost about £30 a day for the package which allows e mails. When the ship docked everyone found a cafe on shore.Nearly everyone we spoke to on board was incensed at the rip off price of the Wi-Fi. Food (apart from the Epicurean) was very ordinary and several passengers had made complaints to the Catering Manager. The itinerary included an awful place called Amber Cove in The Dom Republic. It took a 3 day detour to get there. We hit a force 8 gale and many people were sick. The place was just a tacky, purpose built resort with no character at all offering a string of new shops selling overpriced souvenirs. And for that we had faced bad weather and heavy seas!Again many complaints on board. We joined the Cruise Choir, a kind of Gareth Malone affair led by two young singers from the ship's theatre.About 40 passengers spent 4 hours rehearsing for a performance and 10 minutes before the concert we were told that the pianist was ill and so we had to sing without any music! Nobody from Entertainment came to explain/apologize to us and the audience and left it to the two singers to handle a very embarrassing situation. I felt that another pianist should have been found in a ship of that size. After all,the whole concert only lasted about 15 minutes. The next night the ill pianist was back on form playing for one of the acts in the theatre.I complained to the Entertainment service and nobody even got back to me.They took no interest whatsoever in the Choir but then we were just passengers, not professionals, so we didn't count! Finally, we heard rumours of chest infections on board but nothing official was announced. On the plane home I started to feel very unwell with a hacking cough and I have been in bed since I got home. The Doctor tells me it is a viral chest infection, probably caught on board. So what an end to a disastrous cruise.Never, never again! Read Less

Wanted christmas away in the sun. Was extremely dissapointed with the flight, in the back of a Thompson so called dream liner, no leg room dreadful food pay for everything on a transatlantic flight !!! Got to New Orleans and finally got to our cabin , not too bad outside with balconly but so I should think for what I paid. First meal was dinner and was Ok was however surprised by the drinks prices seeing as most of the time we were in international waters Was actually surprised by some of the clientelle as I said Benidorm afloat if you get my meaning caught a cough and still have it as does my partner and most of the folks aboard. Was dissapointed with the stop overs why did the ship have to leave at 17.30 when the trip tyo the next port was only 21 mies away Simple P&O saving dock fees and getting more from the passengers whils at sea My whole impression was of a money grubbing operation the whole thing cost me 5 figures and for that I expect a heck of a lot better and the worst bit was the flight back again stuck in the back of a grotty thompson so called dream liner, Great aircraft by the way its just thompsons again money grubbing attiude and craming people in , lousy food and no free drinks Overall a terrible waste of money Read Less
