We chose Uniworld after doing some research and talking to travel professionals. Also we attended a AAA travel show where discounts were being offered. We settled on Uniworld as it seemed to offer the best option for us. We chose an off season time just in case we did not enjoy the experience, so we were paying lowest price for the season. Also knowing everything was included, tips. tours, beverages of all kinds we knew exactly what we would be spending. The experience could not have been better, the only exception was the weather over which no mortal has the power over. Despite the weather we were totally impressed by Uniworld. The service was impeccable. A friend had the soles of his shoes come loose because of the weather, he went to the reception desk asking if there was any place he could take his shoes for repair. The Captain was standing there and said we will take of it for you leave the shoes here. The next day his shoes were returned repaired and never was he charged. We asked for feather pillows one evening by calling the reception desk, the cabin steward had them at our cabin in about a minute. Another time we asked for towels same quick response. The cabin itself was small but cozy once we learned how to maneuver about chairs and table. The cabin was nicely appointed with high end amenities such as L'Occitane products. At dinner our wine and water glasses were never empty. In the lounge area we staked out an area for the cruise as there were 5 couples in our group. Each day the crew got to know us and by the end of the cruise the mere sight of us and a wave we had our drinks at our table. I would like to give special mention to Bojan, Laurentio "Larry" and "Danny" who served in the dining room, Bronislaw who worked lounge along with Igor the wine steward. Outstanding job by all to make us feel welcomed at all times. Everyday they were greeting us and asking how our day went. I know one in our group asked for chocolate chips one day when they were not out for consumption and Aneta made sure every day he had his chocolate chip cookies. Just amazing service. The excursions were very good and the guides were excellent. All spoke English with a bit of an accent but you could easily understand them. They were knowledgeable and very entertaining as well as attentive to the group to make sure everyone kept up. The food was gourmet with local choices each night, except one night when there was a buffet as dinner was served early to accommodate a tour that left at 7PM. We had some very picky people in our group and everyone agreed it was a great experience. Most notably there were no photographers hounding you at embarkation, dinner, on deck or anywhere it was just nice to relax and be catered to by a superb crew. Kudos to our captain for handling a weather situation with our safety in mind, we were in extremely windy conditions gusts over 80 mph. Captain decided to port at Melk instead of Spitz for our safety, yet somehow even with the change of plans, they seamlessly arrange for the tours and buses to move from Spitz to Melk without missing a beat. Everything worked like a finely tuned machine. Everyone is already talking about our next cruise! Once you go river cruising you never want to be on one of those floating cities in the ocean again. Awesome vacation thanks to Uniworld and the crew of River Beatrice. Read Less

Our first river cruise, "Delightful Danube", selected to accommodate an itinerary including other nearby sites and tours. We agonized over a number of offerings from other lines and feel we made a spectacular choice. While a little more expensive than competitors, due to the 'all inclusive' Uniworld policy, the value was well worth the expense. From the moment we arrived (an easy embarkation process, with bags previously delivered to our suite) our 'butler' knew our names and requested any special needs. Each day, following housekeeping tasks, the daily announcements of weather, activities and US news highlights were left along with some 'treats'. Staff members at the lounge quickly learned everyone's particular favorites, delivered in a professional and very pleasant and personal manner. Our cabin was generous, clean and comfortable. Each night a delightful new menu and a detailed explanation by the sommelier of the selected wine parings. Breakfast and luncheon buffets were imaginative and delicious. Entertainment was enjoyable, jazz singer with piano accompaniment, a classical solo piano playing regional standards and other events. For the money, the professional and personal attention, elegance of the ship and the interesting itinerary, created a formidable experience from a cruise line with which will be sure to rebook. We wanted to do a river cruise and selected the Danube primarily because of the Classical music we expected to experience and learn about on the trip. We didn't learn much about classical music, but we did experience a wonderful concert in Vienna and an organ concert at St Stephen's church in Passau. Tours of all the cities were excellent. All the staff were excellent from the butlers to the captain, including the cruise director, ship manager, bursar's desk, wine stewards, etc. Everyone on staff was helpful and eager to please. It was as if we were all good friends. Especially kudos the cabin steward (butler) and housekeepers. Food and drink were excellent. And extra touches like the box of candy and complimentary drinks helped to make the experience extra special. (Although we did pay for a first class cabin.) The tour guides were also excellent, knowledgeable and showed humor - and patience, when required. There were only two areas that I considered less than excellent: the entertainment, which was adequate but not up to the level of the other features of the experience; and the basic design of the ship. There was no comfortable place to sit and enjoy the sights on a rainy day, as the top deck, which had the only panoramic view on board, was not accessible in the rain. There was limited viewing from the lounge and the dining room. Also there were times, due to the canal locks when the top deck was not accessible. This could be due to the nature of river cruising. As I have not been on a river cruise before (only sea cruises) I don't know if this is standard or not.) In summary, the trip exceeded my expectations. We definitely plan to do another river cruise. This was our first river cruise. Except Viking, we were not familiar with any other river cruise companies, however, we did some research and selected Uniworld. We were very pleased with every thing, By far, this was the friendliest crew, always available to answer any questions or complete a request - they were always smiling at everyone. The ship was very clean and updated - loved the decor. Our room was on the small side, however, I know that is typical unless you have a suite, but it was very clean and had plenty of space to store everything. The food was really good with ample choices to please anyone's palate. About the tours, again, this being our first river cruise, I have nothing to compare it to but I thought the tour selections were very good, well organized and had mostly very good tour guides. I am definitely recommending Uniworld to anyone wanting to cruise in style. Read Less

My family and I booked this cruise to celebrate my parents' 60th birthdays. My 2 sisters and I are all in my 20s and naturally hesitant of any cruises given our age range, but we were absolutely blown away by the remarkable experience we had a Uniworld! This was one of the first family oriented cruises that Uniworld has offered and they did a truly exceptional job of catering to a wide range of people and offering a variety of very special and memorable activities. Every day we had at least 2 tour options to chose from - and our favorites were the 16 mile bike tour along the Danube river and the hike up to some breathtaking wineries on the mountain tops in a small town in Austria. Uniworld does an incredible job at bringing in local tour guides for each place to offer the deepest knowledge and insight. They also break up each tours into small groups to ensure the guests have an intimate and special experience. Every single staff member at Uniworld has a special place in our heart. They are so incredibly friendly and generous and they give each guest incredible service and attention. We made so many close friends that we will treasure dearly. The hardest part of the trip was having to leave to go home -- we could have stayed on the boat for another month! Uniworld is now our family's #1 and only choice for travel -- I can't say enough amazing things about the people and Uniworld and the magical experience they make for their guests! It's truly a life changing experience! Read Less

Friends recommended Uniworld to us, as they have traveled with them before. We were delighted, beyond words, at our own experience. The management team, tour guides, boat staff, chef/dining room staff were second to none. They were professional, personable, knowledgeable and took care of our needs to perfection. We were very pleased with all of the excursion options. Uniworld took care of all of our needs. From the moment we handed over our luggage to the staff at the airport to travel to the hotel (we opted for an early arrival in Budapest two days before boarding the boat) until we were being transferred to the airport to go home, all of our accommodations were taken care of: transfers from airport to hotel, transfers from hotel to boat, transfers to all tours and airport. We had a carefree, relaxing experience and could enjoy the trip, totally, because all of our travel needs, meals, excursions were all planned very carefully and executed to perfection. Read Less

We just came back from our great cruise down the Danube River starting in Budapest and ending in Prague. Absolutely a wonderful time. Ibbi is the cruise director and so nice, patient and knowledgeable. The captain has quite a sense of humor, the bar staff is great and Hristina cleaned our room and we felt at home. The rooms are quite small. Be sure to bring a converter. There is one 115 volt and one 220 European plug. We bought a converter and were able to charge our tablets and phones with the converter. The food is wonderful and very high quality. The wines and drinks are all top notch. Igor gave a wine talk every night about the wines which came from the region we toured. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom is also very small but adequate. Loved the coffee machines at each end of our floor for cafe latte every morning. There is also a washing machine that is available to use for free along with soap and an ironing board and iron to use. i also had a massage which was superb. Now, a few little things. The wifi was very spotty and sometimes frustrating to use. We were out in the country and it must not be available in those areas. The only tour that I thought was poor was the "Panoramic Passau" tour. We just went to each side of the valley and looked down at the town. There was a castle that would have been interesting to tour. The Budapest tour was great as were most of the others. The BMW plant was so interesting. There are options with most tours for "gentle walking" for older people that couldn't walk much. There was usually a van that took you closer and you didn't have to walk much. People on the cruise were mostly American, but also some Canadians, Australians, South African and someone from New Zealand. People were very friendly and everyone just joined others for dinner, lunch, etc. All in all, I would highly recommend this cruise company. Others were saying that some cruise companies are cheaper to start with but Uniworld is all inclusive. No extra charge for drinks, wines, tours, etc. I think there were 2 extra "Bespoke" tours which if you chose to take cost extra. One was a musical concert and one was to a concentration camp. The staff was superb and loved working for Uniworld. They said they are paid well and every 2 months get travel money and 2 weeks off to go home. We ended in Prague and stayed at the Imperial Hotel. It is an art deco hotel in a good location. However, I thought the beds were uncomfortable. Breakfast was provided. We had a tour of Prague and were done about 12:30 pm. The tour of Prague was really about 3-4 hours of walking and seeing the sights. We should have planned ahead for a tour on our own or made dinner reservations ahead of time. You do need to have Czech crowns for money in Prague. In Budapest Euros are usually accepted. Have some coins where ever you go to use the toilet. This isn't free in Europe unless you eat a restaurant. My last tip is to book through Costco. We got a $1140 Costco giftcard and $100 ship board credit as part of the deal. Read Less

We have always wanted to try a river cruise!! After plenty of research we elected to try Uniworld a more "Boutique" cruise line. Without a doubt it was the best decision ever. Family and friends laughed and said we were way to "young" to be doing a river cruise. Well, we might have been a tad bit younger than most but really not by much. The friends we meet were all amazing. The ship was fabulous from the stateroom to the dining room. Food was amazing and had such great choices to offer for every meal. The staff.....well words can not describe how pleasant, friendly, warm, professional, fun, and knowledgeable the entire staff was. Capitan Jord is an amazing person so friendly and kind and so proud of his family.......that's how close we all got. We shared family stories and laughs. The tours offered so much history and beauty of all the locations we could not get enough and did not want to miss out on anything. Our one and "only" complaint would be that there needed to be more appointments available for spa treatments. We would have love to have this service but the treatments were booked each day. Would we do a river cruise again.....YES!!!!! But only with Uniworld!!! Read Less

Our third Uniworld cruise We took a suite and would certainly give it top marks.the extra space provided plus the little things like the provided laundry service, the daily fruit platter and afternoon nibbles certainly rated as a most enjoyable experience We would be very happy to travel again with Uniworld The staff (in total )seemed to read our minds and provided little things that were unexpected from being greeted when coming on board, to the cabin staff and of course the dining room people, they all did a great and professional job Our selection of shore excursions were wide and very well run ,the use of local guides captured the events in detail The specialist lecturers were interesting and new their subjects in detail ,this backed up with slides of their talk provided us with a taste of what we could expect over the next few days. We found this cruise a most interesting and educational experience. Read Less

The excursions on each city were informative and gave us history and local culture. The staff were so professional and nice. Sabine and Elbe did a good job of making sure we enjoyed our excursions into each port. We were well informed for the daily activities and what we could do each day. The restaurant staff was fun and efficient. Voyin (hope I spelled your name correctly), the restaurant manager was very helpful - I have an allergy and he met me each dinner to share what I could enjoy on the menu. He was very discreet which I appreciated. Our Stewarts, Olga and Hristine took good care of us. The market in Passau was the best for what I was looking to see. I wanted to go to the Xmas markets on a riverboat cruise because I had heard such wonderful things about them, but didn't know there were so many choices. After investigating we chose Uniworld because my travel agent told me it was all inclusive and top of the line riverboat cruise company and we weren't disappointed. We had been on numerous regular cruise lines but wanted something different and were tired of being nickel and dimed to death. This was the way to go. Everything was paid for ahead of time - cruise, air fare, tips, port charges, taxes, excursions, tour guides, even our 2 hour taxi ride to the airport to take our return flight home. And their all inclusive is just that, top of the line everything. Don't expect what you've had on the big cruise ships because it isn't. It's very laid back, ship is small but very adequate and the room is small but very elegant, clean and the bathroom is bigger than on a regular cruise ship. The food is excellent and if you don't like something they will make you something else. Because the amount of passengers are very small the crew is very personable and remembers your name every day. The passengers are wonderful and you meet and talk to different people with each meal seating and tour. Uniworld also has created special excursions just for their passengers and it's with no other tour company. My husband and I never thought we would be interested in a Mozart concert but we had a special presentation just for our ship and it was wonderful, then when we got back to the ship there was a disc of the concert music on our pillow. We went in Dec because I wanted to see the Xmas markets. They were wonderful but all about the same. Although not disappointed, I would like to have seen more of the city we were I n and less of the markets which were the same in each country. I have some back issues but the tours were enjoyable for me and I managed well. They are a mixture of bus and walking. I would not recommend a riverboat cruise to anyone unless you plan on staying on the ship if you can't walk very much or are obese because it can be a challenge even with our ship having what they called slow walking (especially on cobblestone streets) or climb some stairs (only one flight on the ship and up to the buses, but some of the excursions are to churches with stairs). We went with my sister and her husband and all loved it. As a matter of fact we are planning another riverboat trip in 2018 this time maybe to Amsterdam on the same line but a different ship. Even my brother-in-law who is high maintenance and has to be busy all the time loved it. As we've gotten older (and I'm not afraid to reveal our ages late 50's and mid 60's) we can now appreciate the finer things in life that we have worked so hard for. And this line provided every bit of that. Oh and one more thing - I don't mean to sound like an old witch, but our kids are grown and we went on children oriented or family cruises when they were young and growing up, but this type of cruise had no children and that I was thankful for. This type of cruising is for adults and not for families with children, there are other appropriate venues for them. Read Less

My Wife and I just returned from Budapest, Hungary where we finished our 10 day river cruise on the River Beatrice. This was a Uniworld trip which included virtually everything, from all meals, excursions, entertainment and beer and wines. The wines were from each area we visited and the servers kept the glasses full until we said enough. The ship was nicely furnished and well maintained as expected on a luxury cruise. The food was excellent with many, many selections for each meal. Even the foods I normally do not like (being picky) was prepared in a manner that was delicious. The table layouts were either 4 or 6 chairs to a table so you could pick a desired layout. At each port they provided a selection of activities (or tours) for each city with experienced local guides who provided personal descriptions of each area which provided very interesting topics. Samples of local foods, wines, candies, coffees etc. were provided so we could taste and sample the local tastes. A sign-up was required for each excursion so they could provide guides with small groups. We selected the tour "Do as the locals do" at each port and were never disappointed. They provided both active and easy tours for each body type and even had bicycle tours for the very active. Each evening excellent entertainment in the lounge was provided and a enjoyable description of each days activities was provided. I know this review is getting long but I could go on and on because it was so enjoyable. We all felt so pampered we did not want the cruise to end. My recommendation is "the best trip ever" so do not pass this up, Read Less

UNIWORLD lacked the skills to resolve problems and lacked concern for safety. Cabin was exceptionally small, inadequate space between the toilet and shower. Lost electric in cabin for 3 days - no air, no recharging electronics, hearing aids etc. due to condensation on the sliding door which caused an electrical short, not once but 3 times! When brought to the attention of the Captain and other Engineers, the Captain said he was not in charge of resolving the issue and lacked concern for our discomfort and the inconveniences we experienced. If the Captain isn't in charge of the safety of his passengers then who is? On the positive side the food and wait staff were exceptional and worked relentlessly to satisfy the guests, common areas were clean, entertainment nothing exceptional. Shore excursions were interesting and at a good pace, guides were very knowledgeable. Upon our return, we contacted customer service at UNIWORLD. They have offered us a "credit" towards a future UNIWORLD cruise to somehow compensate for the issues we faced. We lost the ability to hear people converse, lost the ability to communicate with our family, we lost the ability to recharge various electronics ... we WOULD NOT recommend cruising with UNIWORLD nor do we intend to throw good money towards a company that fails to put the safety of their passengers first! Ship was perfect, so clean, so modern, so efficient Food was excellent Service was supreme Tours were right on Entertainment was entertaining. We will be back on another cruise. All elements of our expectations were met. The booze flowed, the food did not stop, but was elegant in it's presentation. Organization was excellent We really did not have a complaint We traveled just the two of us. Last cruise we were with 5 other couples. We found out that either strategy can work for travelers. Both ways work on Uni World as they cater to your needs We did not spend a penny more than we thought. There was no need to tip, as the service level was not indicative of tipping or not. This was our second UniWorld river cruise, we took the Windmills and Tulips cruise from Amsterdam to Antwerp (which was also fantastic!) just this last spring. This time we travelled up the beautiful Danube River, from Budapest Hungary, through Vienna, Austria, and finally to Passau, Germany. We can't say enough about the crew and staff on UniWorld cruises. Professional, friendly, knowledgable, accommodating, energetic, and happy! The food is exceptional, the service is 1st class all the way, and many of the shore excursions are exclusive to Uniworld. There are many choices of excursions, suitable for any age or activity level. Don't forget to enjoy the spa and on-board masseuse. Surely a massage counts as exercise, doesn't it? We never expect to make new friends, but we always manage to on these cruises. It's a great mix of folks...none to young or to old to have a great voyage. We will be returning for more cruises! This was truly a no-hassle trip from luggage to gentle walking excursions. We upgraded to a suite and we're happy for the extra space, the regular cabins are a bit tight and thr butlers Boris and Bosco were fantastic. My wife lost a screw from her eyeglasses and Bosco replaced with one from an old pair of his glasses. That is service above and beyond the call. I want to start by saying that I take writing reviews seriously. As of this writing I have 18,895 Trip advisor readers that have read my reviews. This is my first review on Cruise critic.. We booked a trip on the Uniworld cruise "Enchanting Danube" in September with two other couples. To say the trip was a disaster is an understatement...but more importantly Uniworld's management handling of the issues shows a total disregard for their passengers. I would NOT recommend using this company. The day we boarded the ship there was a known problem that prevented this ship from proceeding through the first bridge. Had we been informed that there was a possibility that this ship would never make the first scheduled stop or any stops for that matter, we could have made other arrangements and quite possibly cancel and reschedule our trip. The boat's management poorly communicated in the first few days and developed solutions that either required sitting on a bus tour for over two hours or sitting on the stationary boat. For those of you who are not familiar with a Uniworld cruise, there is nothing to do when sitting on the boat during the day. The boat management seemed clueless as to what to do. One day all passengers we ordered to stay on the boat. We were shocked that the management team did not try to offer something to entertain the passengers...wine tasting, bringing additional massage therapists as the one therapist was booked everyday, music on the deck, cooking class etc. After a few days, Uniworld realized that they could not proceed with the cruise. They called a meeting at 6PM and informed the passengers that they would have to disembark by 8:30 AM the following morning to begin a bus tour. Everyone had to pack that night and wake up early to leave the ship. A member of our party gets sick when traveling on a bus which is why we chose to do a river cruise in the first place. We could not agree to do the bus tour. We demanded that Uniworld find us a car service to take us to Prague, the last stop on our trip. They reluctantly agreed. We wanted to just go home. To make a long story short, Uniworld did not provide a rivercruise...they provided a bus tour. They knew of these issues when we boarded the boat and did not adequately communicate with the passengers. We never had a river cruise. Then when complaints arose, they sent a note stating."we have offered each guest a 50% per person refund of the cruise base fare (less all discounts), the category upgrade (if applicable), and port taxes, as well as a Future Cruise Credit of 50% off of the base cruise fare and category upgrade (subject to availability and excluding suites) in our 2016, 2017 or 2018 sailing seasons." On a $24K trip we received $7,200 for our troubles. Our travel agent and I reached out to the President of Uniworld with no adequate resolution. After 45 days of getting the run around I give up. I paid for a river cruse and was offered a bus tour that we could not do because a member of our party gets sick on buses. Some additional information, I would not recommend a Uniworld tour unless you are in your late 70's or early 80's. After dinner entertainment is like Bill Murray imitating a lounge singer on Saturday night live. Most people were sleeping by 9:30. I think this says it all. BEWARE!!!!! Read Less

This cruise was a disaster from the moment we stepped on the ship till we stepped off. We had been planning this cruise for year with two other couples that we would be traveling with. My husband and myself were very excited because we had never done a river cruise before, and heard how beautiful it is as you travel down the river. This trip needless to say has been the worst vacation that we have ever been on. This trip also cost us many thousands of dollars. We embarked the ship on Sunday afternoon spending the afternoon settling into our room. On Monday morning we spent the day in Budapest and at night took The sites traveling down the river banks of Budapest. The next day we were to arrive in Bratislava Slovakia that did not happen. We ended up in a town in Slovakia that was not on our itinerary and we were told the night before that a ship had rammed into the side of the first set of locks that we were supposed to go through and that we would have to stay at this town until the locks were repaired. Well come to find out they knew about these locks before we set sail from Budapest and never informed us until after. They gave us the option to get on a bus the following morning and drive to Bratislava Slovakia, but unfortunately I Get motion sickness and have a really hard time riding in a bus. So that day we chose to stay back. They had nothing for us to do on the ship so we walked into town. They informed us again that night that we would have to stay there again because the locks were not repaired and that they had no idea when they would be. The following day they were going to Vienna again on a bus and let me tell you these bus rides were 2 1/2 to 3 hours each way. We did not want to sit on the ship another day so we decided to take a chance and see how I did on the bus ride. It was hell! It took us three hours to get there we were rushed to try to see things and then another three hours back, we were supposed to have a special dinner on the ship that night and we ended up being late. That night they informed us that the locks have been fixed and that once they were filled up with water we would be able to go through them. So sometime in the night we set sail and the next morning we woke up sitting in front of the locks. We were informed that we would not be able to get off the ship that day because as soon as the locks were filled we would be able to travel. Well that did not happen. That night which is Thursday we were told that we would have to disembark the very next morning at 8:30 AM. We were furious! We spent thousands and thousands of dollars on a trip that the only thing was taking a bus ride to Vienna. We demanded for them to get us private cars to take us to our last destination of our vacation which was Prague. They told us that night that our options were to take a bus back to Vienna spend the night there take another bus to the Passua Germany and then move on to our extension in Prague. This was unexceptable. To try and make a long story short even though the damage that happened to the locks was not Uniworlds fault they could've told us before we left Budapest that the damage had been done to the locks and that we could've had an option to cancel the trip and book it at another time. They did not do that they continued on and we had no river cruise. And the many days that we spent on the cruise ship they had no extra activities, they had only one massage therapist, so we sat there. Uniworld should've communicated much better with us and had given us a choice. Out of $23,000 Uniworld has only given us back $7200 and 50% off of another cruise, they refuse to reimburse us for anything else. I think it's a disgrace! And you can bet that I will never be on another river cruise again even if they gave it to me. When you take a river cruise there's no guarantees that you will get to any of your destinations, because anything can happen. My suggestion if you want to take a cruise do it on the open water. We chose to cruise the Beatrice because it had a great reputation and cruising down the Danube was supposed to be spectacular.Upon boarding the ship we were shown to our beautiful suite. We were not disappointed. The room and service were first class. The first day and a half were terrific. We were then informed that a lock in the river was broken and there was no way to cruise down the Danube. The answer the cruise ship had was to bus us to our dastinations. We did that one day[a three and a half hour ride each way]After that experience we decided to go to our final destination-Prague.Both Prague and Budapest were terrific and wonderful places to visit.Prague is one of the most beautiful cities in the world.I would recommend it to everyone.Upon returning home we learned that Uniworld gave us half our river cruise money back I felt this was unfair since we did not cruise down the Danube.I tried to contact Uniworld to no avail and our travel agent got a run around. We are now trying to fight it thru American Express.Although it is a beautiful ship and the help on the ship were terrific the company itself is not very professional Read Less

This was our second UniWorld Cruise (1st one was Dhuro River Valley last year and we were tremendously impressed!!!). This latest cruise was the Danube, with an extension into Prague. I want to express to anyone reading this, that UniWorld is First Class, absolutely OUTSTANDING ~ on ALL aspects, Including alternative itinerary planning when unforeseen circumstances occurred, and RECOMPENSE for the inconvenience!!! We were treated like royalty, from the moment we boarded. Service, food … all exceptional!!! Our cruise itinerary had to be modified because one of the locks along the route had been damaged by another cruise ship "accident" … the lock was damaged and unnegotiable. Tour ships on either side were stranded from passage. UniWorld immediately orchestrated several excursions (via bus) to entertain us as we awaited the lock to re-open. UniWorld did absolutely EVERYTHING they could, to make this a great experience despite the unforeseen circumstance!! Yes, it was a 'deviation' from original plan. Yes, it was a bit rigorous in that we spent many hours on bussing from here to there, and ultimately had to pack and leave the ship ….. but I have nothing but admiration and accolades for the efforts UniWorld took, and, in the end, the "compensation package" they provided was BEYOND Fair and Reasonable!!!! One must recognize that things can go awry, and be patient to see how it will be handled. UniWorld exceeded my expectations!!! We'll be booking our next cruise very soon!!! Read Less

This was our first River Cruise. Everything about it lived up to expectations and more - the food, cabin, service, shore excursions, staff - no complaints on any count. The 'compactness' of the cabin took a little while to get used to but we soon settled in very comfortably. Loved the night entertainment that focused on the area we had visited during the day. The 'gentle walkers' option on shore excursions was ideal for our particular needs - except in Vienna, where I think the problem was the guide we had - in all other cities it worked perfectly, especially in Linz. Food and drink was unbelievably well prepared and presented - a credit to all involved. We especially appreciated the use & promotion of local produce at each location. Our only comment would be that doing Melk & Durstein on the same day seemed too rushed. Each place deserved a full day, especially in Melk where the guide spent so much time in the rooms above with the art treasures that we (gentle walkers, some with disabilities) had literally no time to look at the Chapel, which was the point of going to Melk Abbey anyway! Such a shame! (Perhaps we had a guide who didn't understand that some in her group needed extra time to cross the 2 courtyards to get back to the coaches.) After feeling rushed doing 4 towns in 3 days we loved the quieter afternoon sailing down the Wachau Valley where we had time to enjoy the scenery and just being on the ship, cruising on the river, which was what we had been looking forward to. We really appreciated the little extras like fruit & sweets and tea/coffee in the room, as well as the happy smiling faces of staff greeting you with a cool drink as you returned to the ship from shore excursions. Another highlight was changing mooring places after dark in Budapest so we got to sail back up the river and enjoy the lights of this magical place. Wonderful! This was our first river cruise & thanks to Uniworld it won't be our last!! Read Less

Trip of a lifetime! Everything about Uniworld and the River Beatrice was exceptional. The staff made every part of the trip easy as they couldn't do enough for us! The ship was lovely, food and drink were terrific and the excursions were well-planned and interesting. We also loved the fact that everything, including all drinks and gratuities were included. We had a standard cabin which was well-appointed with a lovely bathroom. Stateroom and bath are, of course, small. The French balcony made for great views. Meals were excellent and always included regional specialties. The nightly entertainment was enjoyable and geared to the particular country we were in, since we travelled through four countries. Excursions were well-organized and always included a separate arrangement for "easy walkers", since many tours are long walking tours through picturesque towns. Getting on and off the ship at the beginning and end of the cruise, as well as for the daily trips was a very simple, short process. We ended our trip in Budapest, Hungary, with the additional Uniworld extension at the Corinthia Hotel. The hotel is fabulous and Budapest is a beautiful, exciting city. So glad we stayed on! You can be sure that our next river cruise will be a Uniworld cruise although this one will be hard to beat. Read Less

I chose Uniworld Danube cruise as I heard the Danube would be the best first time river cruise experience. Well I made the right choice! Everything about it was what I hoped for and more. The food, the tours, the nightly entertainment was supurb. I had put down that I had low sodium diet. The head waiter sought me out the first dinner and told me he would take care of me, that the food was low salt anyway but that the soups had more salt than anything. After the first couple of nights he approached me again and asked how the soups were. I told him I was avoiding the soups because of the salt and he say, oh no. Please, going forward from tonight eat the soup as I have been preparing special soup just for you. That made me feel special and I did enjoy the soups every evening from then on. We met two amazing couples on the boat and hung out with them alot. We did some tours together and had lunches and dinners with them and danced the night away in the lounge. They made the cruise even more special and we will be friends forever. My husband and I were celebrating our 40th anniversary and one night our bed was made up special with rose pedals and chocolate hearts and a big bow spread on the bed and a bottle of chilled champagne. Now that is service. Every evening the cruise director would give a talk about the next days events which made it very informative of what to expect. The locals who did the tours were excellent and gave many tidbits of information that you wouldn't find out on your own. I would do this cruise again in a heart beat. Even though its a bit more expensive, everything is included, including tips and drinks, and it well worth it. I would do it again in a heart beat. Read Less

My husband and I had an amazing time on our first river cruise. The trip was to celebrate his 60th birthday. From the time we left San Diego until we returned 12 days later it was all fantastic. It was raining when we arrived in Budapest and so we didn't go out...we were tired from traveling so we just enjoyed a nice dinner at the hotel restaurant and then decided to rest up for our cruise. By the time we boarded the ship the next day, unpacked, enjoyed an amazing first evening and then headed out for our first excursion the next morning the skies had cleared and we had excellent weather for the rest of the trip. We saw many amazing sights, heard beautiful music, tasted delicious local traditional food and wine, walked, hiked and relaxed...it was all great. We also met some wonderful new friends. We will remember this trip for a long time and we have lots of pictures to help us! We are already talking about our next trip and a river cruise with Uniworld will be at the top of our list. Overall, we had an awesome vacation. The River Beatrice staff made our second Uniworld river cruise another truly exceptional travel experience. Our first river cruise on the River Queen was awesome also. Our recent cruise from Passau to Budapest was perfect in almost every way. Our cabin was very comfortable and like the River Beatrice, was beautifully furnished. The food was delicious with lots of variety and healthy choices. The ship provided a wide variety of complimentary beverages including wines from the areas we were traveling thru. The on-board sommelier (Martin) described the different wines offered each night. I have a new appreciation for Austrian and Hungarian wines. The shore excursions were interesting, educational and mostly complimentary. However, it is the crew of the River Beatrice that made our cruise so special. Every crew member was extremely responsive to all passengers and they just could not do enough for us it seemed. The captain seemed to be everywhere and even wished us goodbye when we left the ship at 5am. Carla, the hotel manager, was charming, professional and always smiling. Likewise, Roberto, the restaurant manager, was warm, efficient, and very effective in discussing with and meeting passengers culinary needs. Like after our first Uniworld river cruise, we cannot wait until our next Uniworld river cruise. Read Less
