Best way to see Hawaiian Islands

Review for a Hawaii Cruise on Safari Explorer

We are Sailors but chose Safari Explorer in the Hawaiian Islands because of a lack of infrastructure for sailboat chartering there. Our trip included stops in Molokai, Lanai, Maui, and the Big Island. The beauty of Hawaii is stunning and we thoroughly enjoyed seeing it. And we were very pleased with the package of wildlife viewing at sea, snorkeling stops, hikes ashore, and cultural/historic ...

What A Waste of Money!

We have been to Alaska twice before on big ship cruises and thought a small boat cruise would be a way to see Alaska in a different way. It was awful! By the third day boredom was setting in and by the fourth day, we had come to realize that each day was going to be exactly the same with the same three activities (hiking, kayaking, or a small boat tour) offered each day. We loved seeing the ...

Expectations Exceeded

Our two week trip to Hawaii was twenty years in the making and my wife and I considered all our travel options very carefully. We booked an Un-Cruise Hawaii for the week of March 5 through 12. For us, the total $9,500 fare is a significant amount and we came into the trip with very high expectations. I would never have imagined that our expectations would be so thoroughly exceeded and that we ...

I've been reading through the reviews and have noted that I actually travelled on the same cruise as Carl, however my booking was through New Zealand based Wild Earth Travel. Carl has done an excellent summary of the cruise, I could not agree with his comments more. In particular - a) the crew made us feel like family, they were so welcoming and really embodied the Hawaiian hospitality. ...

The only way to go!

My spouse and I have 40-something cruises under our belts. We've done mainstream cruise lines including Celebrity, HAL, Cunard, Oceania, Seabourn and Crystal. We were looking for an interesting cruise in Hawaii over Thanksgiving and found Un-Cruises on the web. Judging from previous member reviews, we weren't quite sure what to expect. Short and sweet, this was one of the top 5 cruises we ...

A very unique and positive experience

Our Un-Cruise was not what we expected, but because of the Company's/staff's commitment to making our time in Alaska special, we had a remarkable vacation. Due to engine breakdown, the ship did not leave port. Sounds like the making of a disaster - instead it was the beginning of an exciting adventure. Offered the option of ending the trip with total refund and future discount or the prospect ...

Great Alaskan Adventure Cruise

Took my 18 yr old son for his HS graduation. We had a great time. I was aware of small boat cruises (my wife and I did over 20 years ago in Alaska) so had a pretty good idea of what to expect and the Un-Cruise team met or exceeded expectations in just about every way. This is all about seeing Alaska while being comfortable, not a luxury cruise. So every day there are activities like hiking, ...

Good overall experience with some reservations...

Having tired of looking at European cathedrals, we decided to enjoy and appreciate nature and wild animals for a change. Well, we saw a number of creatures, orcas, humpback whales, sea lions, harbor seals, brown bears, bald eagles and, scariest of all, a woman who joined the voyage the second week who was never without her glass of wine. The crew worked diligently to make our trip pleasant and ...

The absolute best part of Un-Cruise was the crew. Each was outstanding and did their part to ensure that we each had the best possible experience. Everything that i did on this cruise i would have done anyway but they took all the anxiety out of it. Five mile hike to a sacred waterfall, drift snorkeling off the coast of maui, night snorkeling with giant manta rays - all made accessible to ...

Some hits, mostly misses

This is a difficult review to write. We took this cruise expecting a small ship with cramped cabins. Actually, the cabins are quite spacious, and we were in the next to bottom category. We expected to be able to snorkel and sure enough, it was offered every day. We did not expect water temperatures of 75 degrees, making it too cold for us. This was our fault, for not checking in advance. We ...
