Charlie Jourdan who sings and plays guitar entertained on this cruise! He was an incredible talent. I could have stayed on the ship just to enjoy his talent!!! He excelled in audience participation. He shared great, funny stories as well. St. Thomas and St. Maarten are absolutley beautiful!!! I have a shellfish allergy and was worried about the seafood on board. Everyone went out of their way to ensure I could eat safely. The only negative is the lack of communication regarding cell phone usage and options. The talent of the cast of Mamma Mia was incredible as well. I recommend that you make reservations immediately for any show you would like to see. They all sell out incredibly fast and you may miss out if you don't. I was very impressed with the cleanliness and the ship and their efforts to have passengers use hand sanitizer often to keep everyone heatlhy! I would definitely choose Royal Caribbean if I cruise again! Read Less

Ship design: This ship is not designed for those who like to stroll outside or those who want to feel like you are on a ship. There is no access to the helipad and getting to an outdoor space is difficult. The promenade deck view all around the ship is obscured by lifeboats and you are constantly dodging joggers. The only outdoor space is the extremely crowded pool deck. There is no viking crown lounge as this space is taken by the suite areas. Passenger flow was alright but there are constant crowds. Dining: The MDR food is low quality and the seating system is extremely disorganized. We ate at the MDR twice and had enough after being led to our table to find it occupied by another party. Then we were led all around the dining room looking for another table. We saw this happen to several other families. I had scheduled my time dining several months before, so I was disappointed. Room service was awful and inedible. The dining experiences that we enjoyed were Giovanni's, Izumi and Johnny Rockets. The meat at Sabor was terrible. Poor quality, poorly seasoned and overcooked. Bar service is fast and drinks were good. Entertainment: Mama Mia shows was very well done. The talent is top quality. Musicians were great. Game shows were so fun. We enjoyed all the entertainment with the exception of comedy show. Not sure where they found the "comedians". There are so many activities that by day five we all had to take a nap. We tried to keep up but that ship wore us out! We did not buy any RCI excursions. We bought ours through Viator and had a blast. I gave the ship a high review because we had so much fun, had so many activity options.. Highly recommended for a family. Wish they had better food and service in the MDR. Read Less

We happen to choose RCL Allure of the seas as the date of the Cruise & the destinations suited our requirement. The embarkation was much smoother than one of our previous experiences from another cruise line from Baltimore MD where we had to stand in lines for hours with kids amidst the cold. We had a quick check in and waiting area was much comfortable with chairs & resting facilities. The Ship itself was breathtaking the different ways the decks had been planned and decorated to give the guests the feeling of being in different environments is truly Amazing. The Central Park, The promenade and the Boardwalk were my most favorite places. The Food and the options available to guests for dining at different locations to suite the palate of each individual is Awesome. The line up of entertainment is out of this world with Broadway shows, Ice Shows, Aqua Shows, comedy & family entertainment shows that did not repeat daily giving variety to guests was truly out of this world. We enjoyed each & every show including the parades by the dream works teams. The service level of all staff at every location/venue was of very high standard & equal in every manner in spite of their diversity. It was only the size of the cabin that was an issue for us as we were a family of 4 the room with a Sofa convertible bed for kids was almost like a cell. The Kids clubs were also extremely entertaining for the kids and they loved being in them and really enjoyed the activity and performances done with the other kids. I would most certainly book my future cruises with RCL considering the high standard of service at every level and also the Entertainment options available for the whole family to ensure that every member is entertained at every hour of the cruise every day. Of our 25 cruises, about half have been on RCL. We usually travel as a group of 2 or 4. This time, we brought 8 family members, and found that RCL was not well equipped to handle a group of that size. Restaurant reservations were a hassle. Benefits that we receive for being in a Grand Suite did not provide any significant benefit. Staff were often unhelpful in helping us do things as a group. For example, we were told that the Coastal Kitchen restaurant was off limits to us because our children were not in a Grand Suite (who buys Grand Suites for their children?). The two of us had been on Allure in May 2016, and noticed a decline in attitude among a number of staff members. Some were outstanding (e.g. cabin steward, restaurant staff, sports activities personnel). Others clearly didn't like their job, and it showed. We were told "No" quite a bit for reasonable requests. Getting off the ship was downright frightening. As we were getting off the ship, they pulled my son and daughter in law aside and wouldn't let them disembark. They gave the rest of our family zero explanation as to what was going on, and wouldn't let us back on the ship to see where they went. They blamed it on the customs service, and were very rude. Finally, they let them off through another route. We only found them through luck, and the incident almost caused us to miss our post cruise shore excursion. I plan to ask my travel agent to make a formal complaint with RCL over this, as it outrageous behavior. For next year's family cruise, we will probably try Princess or Holland American to see if they do a better job accommodating large groups. We may go back to RCL at some point when it's just the two of us. Read Less

I chose this ship, since I have enjoyed the Oasis class ships, in the past, but with all the cutbacks and changes occurring at RCCL, the customer service, & options available on this ship has been reduced, whether you're a new one-time cruiser, or a loyal one with C&A. Embarkation at FLL, was a complete disappointment, it used to be a much smoother process, for all cruiser, but with all the lines merged into one (unless you're a Grand Suite guest, or higher, or Pinnacle), you'll be waiting a long time to get in the door, get thru security, and then check-in at the counter. Most of the time, everything you've per-arranged via RCCL.com has not been noted or is not ready at embarkation. Recently, RCCL is expecting everyone (to comfortably provide an uploaded photo for their seapass cards) vs RCCL just taking your photo with their own digital cameras. The ship, is slowly showing it's age, and it's barely over 5 years old. The cabin are stuffy, and most have not been updated to reflect the modernization that has occurred on the Grand Suites or higher classes. The entertainment is still a wonderful experience. The food has become of a less quality, the menus are completely alike, no matter which class of RCCL ships you sail on. If you like a better meal, you're now forced to pay extra for their specialty restaurants. Caution when you're considering a Beverage Package, the prices can continuously fluctuate, the limits are changing almost week to week (from my own personal experience), and less and less are covered under these programs. Check your $$ limit on your package and compare with the prices on their menus, or ask your servers. It's still hard to believe that the Casino still allows for smoking, without proper ventilation; that then flows upstairs to the Great Promenade that can be the highlight of this class of ship. Customer service has become below expectations, the only ones I've noticed who will go above and beyond are the stateroom attendants, and the servers for the evening dining. I would have to reconsider coming back to Allure vs other ships and/or cruise lines. Read Less

We were a party of four: my wife, me and two of our close friends (married couple). We enjoyed the ship and the entertainment is absolutely top notch. Momma Mia in full (not parts of..I mean all 2.5 hrs. of it was there. They also had an outstanding ice show, a show called "Blue Planet" that I can no describe but it's a must see. And the ship's orchestra is very, very verstatile and very accomplished. They band leader, Kevin, is about the best band leader I've ever seen. Being a musician myself having played, in military bands for 30 years as well as many others I am a trusted source. Momma Mia's director also plays piano and sings around the ship sometimes with some cast members. Truly awesome musicians and singers on board. The only two negatives I have (my wife completely agrees) about the whole week is: 1. that the soundtech(s) think that burying the vocals with the instrumentists is a good and wonderful thing. NOT. The band (ship orchestra) is awesome but they are truly over mixed for the room. My guess is that the soundtechs are intrumentalists. 2. no coffee pots in the rooms. RC doesn't put them in the staterooms...maybe just in the suites. Other cruise ships include them..I miss it everytime I cruise with RC. The food was awesome everywhere we ate: 150 Central Park ($) and the complimentary meals. Our cabin steward was okay but I could tell she gets annoyed easily. It was something in her tone and demenor. We could just sense it. My wife and I were very friendly with her but she just wasn't buying it. Maybe she likes younger people (wife is 56, I'm 62). The captain was engaging, funny and puts everyone at ease. A great guy and we are sure he MUST be great to work for and work with. The shows do need reservations which annoyed us at first because we're not used to that. But you catch on quick and can always catch the late show...seats always available then. Top notch shows. They have a zip line, climbing wall, wave pools and more. Lots to do for sure. I'd sail again on this ship...maybe some day we will again. We go every year just on differnet ships. Read Less

My boyfriends parents & sister were going and we decided to join them. We booked a suite and the room and amenities were incredible. We received two fruit baskets, a couple of days apart, cheese & crackers one day and chocolate covered strawberries on another. Based on this cruise we decided to book another cruise for next year on the Oasis of the Seas, again in a suite. We took the my time dining, as the other dining was already booked, and with our suite card we didn't even have to wait in line. The food was very good. We also ate at the Coastal Kitchen, available for the suites only and that was very good as well. They didn't have the same menu as the main dining room. The ship is beautiful and as large as it is and all of the people on board it didn't seem crowded at all. Can't wait for next year! Read Less

On the outside looks like there is so much to do, but it fell short with actual planned activities. Not enough for kids aside from the childcare. Unable to dock in Haiti due to weather. Smoking areas are terribly placed. No supervision in teen areas (and it was needed after hearing stories of inappropriate behavior), lack of discipline in the kids center (kids cussing and rude behavior unacceptable for 9-11 age group), too many restaurants that you have to pay additional money to attend ($25 and up per person), poor air quality in rooms (allergies flared after 1st day). There were more indoor activities than outdoor in open spaces - need more planned events, especially for kids. Reservations are required for all shows or you have to wait in a standby line and hope to get in (you must call guest services to reserve). I don't recommend My Time Dining unless you plan to be in line right at 5:30 or 7:45, otherwise you wait in line...for a while. In addition, the staff is not as friendly and welcoming. However, seated dining with supervisor Ronald, waiter Gerry, and assistant Kadesh was fantastic in the Grande Restaurant at 5:30pm. Read Less

We have cruised over 30 times and this was our 6th cruise with RCCL and I can honestly say that it was far from our best cruise experience. We enjoyed sailing on Oasis a few years ago and chose this cruise on Allure mainly because our nephew & wife would be joining us on their 1st cruise and had wanted to sail on the largest cruise ship in the world. Being on a huge ship was a blessing as we encountered 40-50 knot winds which prevented us from docking in Labadee and almost again in Falmouth. While Allure was rocking and rolling and the barf bags were out, you could still walk without bouncing off the walls. I'm sure that it would have been much more uncomfortable on smaller vessels. Our balcony cabin located near the fwd elevators was extremely quiet and rode well. But the poor weather forced more passengers indoors which resulted in very crowded conditions. The promenade was like a shopping mall on Black Friday or Boxing Day especially when they were holding a "sale". Dining was a major disappointment for us. We had any time dining and ate in the main dining room most nights. No matter when we arrived (6:30-7:30PM) we had a 15-25 minute wait for a table for 4. On top of the long wait times, the overall food selections and quality were a major disappointment. The 2nd formal night offered lobster etc which was ok but I would like to know what species of lobster they served. The generous portions did not remotely taste like any lobster that I have ever eaten. We tried the Windjammer for dinner one evening and never went back due to the confusing layout, so-so food and non-existent beverage service. We did enjoy Chops the 1st night. I checked with them when we 1st boarded and they offered a 25% discount. We also enjoyed breakfasts in the dining room a few times as well as the buffet in the Solarium. We are not heavy drinkers so the beverage pkg would not have been beneficial, however Royal had increased the booze prices 10-20% at the end of the year resulting in the most expensive prices I have ever encountered on a ship. Example: Coors Light, Bud etc $8.56, cocktails: $13. We probably will not sail on a ship this large again nor are we likely to sail with RCCL again anytime soon as there are far better options out there. Read Less

Had smoker in balcony cabin next to us --complained for 3 days and nothing was done! It took us on the 4th day to call over the balcony and tell them to stop. That was the only way they would stop smoking - RC personnel did nothing. Spa pricing is out of control! Didn't even want to go because of the hard sell on buying all their products they recommend. The Cruise Ship, the Crew, the Shows and the overall experience was incredible. However, it was our first time and we were not prepared for all the "extra" costs, the on-board infomercials, and the "misleading" of what "all-inclusive means (or doesn't mean). When you see the word "Free" in any of the extras, for example "Free Spa treatment for the ladies", what they really mean is - come sit down in a small room and we'll teach you how to do your own facial and try to get you to buy our products. It happened to us 3 different times. "Free foot analysis, meant "buy our $199.00 foot orthotics." All- inclusive, doesn't mean soda. We had three young adults traveling with us and their only options for 9 days was water, juice or buy them each a drink package for $70. Everyone needs to be tipped too! And it's great to pre-pay the tipping, but that doesn't include all the bus drivers, taxi cab drivers, people carrying your luggage up to the rooms, bar areas, or entertainer "tip jars", all the airport helpers and hotel helpers. IMPORTANT: Even though we enjoyed our excursions, the islanders (or excursion crews) are very very flirtatious and I did not feel comfortable with them around my niece. Both islands, we ran into the same issue. They were very taken by her and made it obvious. Read Less

The stateroom still had socks under the bed from the prior habitants! The steward was never around. The food in the main dining room was just ok. It was obvious that a lot of it was prepared off ship and heated before served. The room service breakfast was cold and terrible! The casino was dirty. Empty drink glasses everywhere. Ashtrays never emptied. You have to reserve seats for every show. Never got into the Comedy shows. The pool area was over crowded and couldn't find any lounge chairs. I vowed never to go on RC after our last experience and I should have stayed firm. We booked our cruise online as well as the flight through RCI. The non-stop flight we booked turned into having one layover(which was not what we wanted). The first flight was 2 hours late, we missed our connecting flight, almost missed the boat because my husband and our friends' luggage was lost. We sailed on Sun and they got their luggage on Wed. It was a bad start to the vacation. Then my husband got sick. The doctor and staff in the medical facility were not kind at all and then came the $300+ bill. Dr visit, flu test and ibuprofen and tamiflu is over $300. At the end of the cruise we put the luggage outside our stateroom with the tag on it. We get downstairs and my husband's luggage is missing AGAIN. My husband went to the help desk and we were told there was no tag with the number 84 on it. Yes, there was and the other 3 adults in the party had the same tag and our luggage was there. They were of absolutely NO help. We finally found it after searching for a while. I'm sure the cruise is fine if you have no issues. If you do, however, there are a few people on the boat who are just down right rude. On a positive note,we would like to thank Joel and Kevin in guest services, they were amazing as well as Elvis and Zildo in the American Icon Grill. Their service was outstanding!! Read Less

Not sure if this is an American phenomenon, but if I pay for an all inclusive vacation, and spend a fair amount of money for me and my family, I would expect that the price of the drinks and wine in the bars and restaurants, is the price you pay. Well, for this cruise, an additional 18% was added as service charge on EVERYTHING we drank. Based on the already high price for drinks and wine, I would expect the service charge to be included. If the margin they have on the alcohol doesn't include the service, I would say that the procurement department at RCL have made some very bad deals. Positive parts with this cruise was the shows. All of the shows we went to, was way better than on any of our previous cruises. Mamma Mia, Aqua show, Greg London and the comedy show was fantastic. Food and Service in American Icon was also really great. Had some lunch and evening dinner at Windjamer, and that was ok. It is a buffe, so not the same quality as an alacarte restaurant. Snacks like sallads, and various warm sandwiches at Park Cafe was also tasteful. Based on my first negative comment regarding service charge, we did not try any of the other restaurants that comes with an additional fee. Also think it was a little bit to pricey to pay for dinner, when you had it complimentary. The Gym was over my expectations. I work out 5-6 times/week, so perhaps little above the average Gym rat. Did not expect to see Hammer Strength machines onboard a ship. Nice surprise. Also around 30 treadmills and 18 elliptical didnt cause for any waiting time. Hit the gym every morning around 07.00, and not much people and very fresh. Read Less

We chose Allure of the Seas due to the size of the ship and ports of call. Very disappointed in both. Food I would say was so-so. Typical buffet style food but temperatures were sometimes well off. Labadee Haiti was cancelled and was the one port we were looking forward to. Casino was extremely tight, slots in particular as well as the bar service. Many times had to hunt for a server. I was not impressed with the room.(Oceanside Balcony). Even though the rooms are non-smoking, the room 2 doors down did not obide by that rule and ruined us being able to open our door wall. Overall a HUGE disappointment and we are seasoned cruisers. For what we spent on this cruise, we could have likely gone to a very nice hotel in the Carribean or someplace else warm for that matter and it would have been money better well spent. Read Less

Entertainment was average the unique aqua theater was good. The Windjammer Buffet was always crazy and the staff overworked, lots of uncleaned tables. Some times they enforced being seated by the staff at the entrance and other times not, saw one argument between staff and customer when she tried to seat a group at a table he grabbed just seconds before. I have been on Oasis of the Seas last 2 years in a row didn't want to see Cats for the 3rd time. You would think that Freedom would be identical to Oasis and physically, I thought it was but otherwise it was not. Due to booking 30 days out, we had to do our time dining and conflicts with booking shows arose. This is the first cruise that I have been on that the itinerary was not met. I guess we have been very lucky. The first dinner service was very disappointing and it got worse on the second night. My request for water was met by a response from the waiter that he would inform his assistant. The third night my son specifically asked not to be sat with that server. This was his wife's first cruise and he did not want her to be turned off by it. Out of the seven nights, I can honestly say that we only had one night of excellent service. Since our son and his wife could not join us, we were sat on a side room with Marciano. It was like he read my mind. The service was anticipatory, he called us by name and asked about my son's birthday. The little coffee shop and pastry shop on the promenade, forgot the name; the display case was half empty most of the time and on 2 occasions they ran out of certain items. My wife loved the doughnut holes on the Oasis but they were different on the Allure. They were more doughy instead of light. Service here was also poor. Waiting in line the server was busy checking his ship's phone and talking to his supervisor. The buffet food and dinner food has become indistinguishable from your average national buffet or dinner chain restaurant. Nothing stood out, maybe the thinnest of the Ny strip. Why do they even bother asking how you wanted it baked? The variety of their desserts remind me of Chinese fast food restaurant. Looks different but taste the same. I guess they really want you to pay extra for their specialty restaurant. Cruising used to be special but like anything else it has been watered down so every one can enjoy it in their shorts and sandals even at dinner. In my recent survey with RC, I commented that I have never been on Carnival because of the things I have heard but my last trip with RC, I imagined that is how Carnival would be. A value cruise except RC is not. I have 2 deposits left with them and one with NCL and NCL has been doing the same thing. It has all become about the numbers and not about being the best. Read Less

We booked this cruise over a year ago while on the Navigator OTS. We were very excited about being on this ship. Allure did not disappoint! This ship is beautiful and amazing. Unfortunately, mother nature did not cooperate so much. We had very windy conditions for the first 3 1/2 days of the cruise. We were not able to port in Labadee due to high waves over the pier. And the pools were closed a couple of days. The back of the ship was closed off one afternoon due to something coming loose at the top of the ship which was a safety issue for passengers. I felt bad for the maintenance crew that had to make the repair while we were sailing with the crazy winds. But the issue got fixed and the Boardwalk opened up again. The Aqua Theatre show Oceanaria was cancelled 2 nights due to the winds but they were able to reschedule for later in the week. We were rescheduled for night 5 and it was a good show. We also saw Blue Planet, Mama Mia, 2 comedians and the headliner Greg London who did singing impressions. All the shows were good to excellent in quality. Always love the 70's night. I wish the passengers would realize it is a 'dance party' to get involved in and not necessarily a show to watch. Yes, it fun to watch the cruise director (who had great dance moves) and the other dancers, but it's more fun to get involved and dance. That is the whole point. The cantilevered hot tubs were great, but I wish there was a crew member monitoring them as parents were letting their children in them. You must be 16 years old and we saw very young children in them. The hot tubs in the pool areas were nice too. Bar service at the pools was very good. We loved the food on the ship. Our 1st stop was the Park Cafe in Central Park for the Kummelweck sandwich. We didn't enjoy the sandwich because there was too much gravy put on it and the roll got too soggy. We went back a 2nd time a couple of days later and got the sandwich with just the horseradish and enjoyed it very much. Also tried the Dog House for the German bratwurst and the Austrian Thuringer. Both were good, but I though the buns were a bit hard, but my husband says they are supposed to be. They should put a Coke freestyle machine somewhere on the Boardwalk. We enjoyed the Windjammer the few times we ate there. The lunch options were different everyday. Our breakfast place of choice was the Solarium. Smaller crowds, great views. The selection was smaller than Windjammer, but it had everything my husband and I want for breakfast. The food and service in the main dining room was fantastic. We don't understand the reviews complaining that the menu is the same everyday because it wasn't. They do have the 'classics' menu choices but every night they had a nice variety for the Chef's selections. My husband had a fantastic salmon dinner the first night. If you see the 'Warn Chocolate Cake' on the menu, that is a must. All evening, we heard other passengers talking about this dessert. It was delicious. Starting the 3rd night, we were given the cheese platter as an appetizer. We didn't order it and it was very good but it was too much for us. They gave it to us every night. We didn't want to send it back because I'm sure it would have been thrown out so we'd attempt to finish it. One night I ordered the shrimp cocktail, they brought me two. Again, very generous, but too much. Yes, you can order more than 1 appetizer, dinner and dessert. However, I can't eat that much and I made my dinner selections carefully so that I didn't feel to full, but I always walked out of the dining room very full. On the last sea day just after lunch, the Windjammer served up a huge cake to the passengers. So if you're at the pool deck around 12:30 - 1:00, get your cake at the Windjammer. Our favorite bars were the Schooner bar overlooking the Royal Promenade, Rising Tide and the Trellis bar in Central Park which was a nice get away. They had musicians playing the piano or guitar on different nights. It was beautiful and relaxing. Read Less
