This review is only what I saw or what happen to me, and no one should take it as what is the norm on the Dream.
We have cruised 13 times prior to this cruise and have been on Carnival twice before, but never on the Dream. This was a last minute cruise. We received a call from Carnival 21 days prior to the cruise and offered a very good price for the Sept. 28th 7 days cruises on the Carnival ...
My family and I sailed on the Carnival Freedom last year, and the Dream this year. Although the Freedom is slightly smaller, it is very similar to the Dream.
Although sailing with Carnival is virtually a guaranteed great vacation, I did experience a few disappointments this time.
Our dining table was moved twice, and each time to a less desirable location. Although our wait staff was incredible, ...
Earlier this summer, we cruised on the Carnival Breeze. It seemed to us that the Breeze entertainment and cruise staff were focused on gutter humor and raunchiness. The guests lowered themselves to the level of the cruise staff and the Breeze turned into a huge floating trailer park. Worse yet, we were shocked and devastated to learn that some new cost-cutting scheme called Entertainment 2.0 had ...
This was the third Carnival Cruise for our family of five. We travelled with a two other families.
Getting to the Port/Checking in.
We flew into Orlando airport the day before. We stayed at the Staybridge Suites. We booked a private car through their recommendations for $250 there and back. We even got a stop at the Super Walmart for pop, water and misc. items on our way there. We left the ...
My husband and I have an annual, child-free anniversary cruise and it is always with Carnival. When we cruise with the kids, it's always Disney. We are Carnival fans, no matter what the media says!
Prior to the Dream, the biggest boat we've sailed was the Disney Dream. I am generally afraid of larger boats for personal reasons, but, I let go of my fears and sailed on.
Embarktion: The smoothest ...
The Carnival Dream was a clean modern ship, laid out quite well, and easy to get around. The decor was visually pleasing and the artwork around the ship delightful. Plenty of pools, hot tubs, and lounging areas for the sea days. Our cabin was a little small for 4 people, but manageable. The food was great and the comedy hilarious! Did not see any variety shows as that is not my thing. Enjoyed all ...
Arrived at the Port , and absolute chaos.. Hundreds of people waiting in line, and this was at 1:30pm . Carnival computers went down. Lucky for us we were Platinum members , so we went straight to the head of the line.. so to speak. The people at the terminal did a great job in expediting the huge lines.. So kudos to them. We absolutely loved the Cove balcony, on the Port side as you see ...
Also just off the Dream W. Caribbean. I'll try (no promises) to post a longer review later, but just some general stream of consciousness comments, in no particular order:
1. FTTF -- well worth it. Embarkation was a breeze. Priority tender into Belize was a godsend. And on the few occasions I went to the service desk it was nice to walk right up.
2. Food -- MDR was eh. The taste was good, but ...
The embarkation was very efficient and, after embarking with our daughter, who is in a wheelchair, we had some lunch in the buffet restaurant before going to our cabin. The cabin was an adapted spa oceanview cabin on Deck 11 (Category 4S). We were very impressed with the space and comfort. Unfortunately we made very little use of the spa area because a large part of it is not open to under 18s. We ...
Dropped car at Hertz and took shuttle to ship. Arrived at Hertz at 10:30 and even though it's only a 10 min ride, it took us over an hour to get to check-in. Hertz says it's because Carnival's process for rental cars is very unorganized (unlike Disney, which has no shuttle van lines). We waited on line at the port for over 1/2 hour before we could finally unload. Whole process took so long that by ...
