We (mid 60s) decided to take our daughter(30) and son-in-law (40) on a cruise. We have been on several cruises, first time for them. The main reason we picked the Dream out of New Orleans was because we wanted a long day in Key West (8-5). Our son-in-law is an avid fisherman and we wanted to fish in Key west. We flew down on Saturday January 27th. We took a cab from the Airport to Maison Dupuy Hotel in the French Quarter. We selected this hotel as it is close to French Quarter Phantoms and we had two walking tours booked through them. It was pouring rain when we got to the hotel. We planned on going to Jackson Square to spend the afternoon, but because of the rain we ended up at Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium. We thoroughly enjoyed the insectarium, not impressed with the Butterfly Garden, have seen better. It had stopped raining when we got out so we walked down Bourbon Street to get back to the hotel. The kids went to the Museum of Death, which they seemed to enjoy. We had a 6:00 ghost tour with French Quarter Phantoms, excellent tour and guide, we had a great time. The kids were hungry afterwards, so we missed the parade. We walked to the Bayou Burger and Sports Company and had great burgers (our daughter does not eat seafood or spicy creole). Sunday we had a 10:00 Cemetery Tour with French Quarter Phantoms, again, an excellent tour and guide. We then picked up our bags from the hotel and took a cab to the ship. Probably took about 45 minutes to get on the ship, we never sat down, just wound around in various lines. We all ate at Pasta Bella, great food and no crowd. Then we all went to our cabins to drop off our carry ons. Part of our luggage was there. We split up to do our own exploring. This is the first time I have had a cove balcony. I loved being close to the water, but the balcony was always covered in salt and wet. I won't do that again. First time doing anytime dining, won't do that again either. We selected anytime as we like to eat early and they like to eat late. We ended up eating together about 3 times. We always had to wait to get a table, even if we went at 6:00. We also could not ever get the same wait staff. I would much prefer a set time with no wait and the same wait staff. Food in the dining room was excellent, service was great (3 times), average (3 times) and terrible (1 time). My husband and I loved the stage shows, the singers and dancers were very talented. The kids did not care for the stage shows (what was the point? is what she said about Flick). We all loved the comedy club, though two shows we never found a seat. They enjoyed the live music. Brandon (cruise director), Legs 11, and Sunny (entertainment) were great. I had not been to Quest for many years, has become much more risque, if you are easily offended DO NOT GO. Luckily our daughter elected not to go as she would have been mortified. Unfortunately, the weather was cool, so you could find a seat at the pool anytime and even clamshells at Serenity. Lunches and breakfasts were good at Lido, but lines were too long at Mongolian Wok and Guy's BBQ, never wanted to wait that long. We were asked whether we wanted morning or evening service by the steward, I selected morning, the kids selected evening (so they could sleep in). I don't have a problem with having one service a day, but when I select morning I expect the room to be cleaned in the morning. Several times it was after noon, I am not happy with that. One day we came back to no towels, another day we came back to two bath towels (I told steward I always wanted 3, an extra to wash my hair). There was dust on the top shelves in the bathroom. Definitely corners have been cut there. We also had the Hub, loved that for the menus and days events. Chat did not work well, my husband and I got about 80% of the messages, my daughter got about 10%, our son-in-law 5%. Key West, the main reason for taking this trip was the fishing. called our captain as we were approaching the dock and he canceled the trip due to high winds. Based on the forecast we had seen, I was not surprised, but everyone was disappointed. We ended up doing the shops, kids did the Ripley's museum. Key Lime pie on a stick at Kermits is a must! In Freeport we booked the kayak and nature tour through Carnival, this was the best excursion. We had a great guide, super fun kayaking and about 90 minutes at a beautiful beach. Lunch was very poor, but based on the reviews I expected that. In Nassau, the kids wanted to ride on the beach, I booked this as an independent tour. Our daughter really enjoyed it (experienced horsewoman) our son-in-law not so much. The guide harassed him about horsemanship (heels down, sit up). Again we were warned on trip advisor that this could happen. We took the walking food and culture tour, it was fantastic. Great guide, great food, lots of interesting information. Again it was booked independently and I would highly recommend it. Disembarkation was fine, just walked through customs. This was the first time for us on Dream class, we really liked it. In fact we have a December cruise booked on Magic for our son, daughter in law, and two grand kids. Read Less

I give Carnival Dream a 9 out of 10, with 10 being the highest. Enjoy the ship and cruise. Ship is clean and neat. Our interior cabin was very roomy and comfortable. Crew was very friendly, Especially Wasanna in the Buffet Area, Always telling you good morning. She puts a big smile on your face every day. Food was good in the dinning room 7 out 10. "I am kinda picky, being from New Orleans" The buffet was very good 9 out 10, So much food by Wednesday I told my wife I didn't want to see any more food. Guys Burger, has some great burgers. The Blue Iguana has good Mexican food, especially the fish tacos. If you like good pizza, they have it. My wife ate pizza every day. Great entertainment and always something to do on board. We stop at Key West, love Key West. Freeport, 4 out of 10. Nassau was nice, 7 out of 10, Just be careful. Felt very uncomfortable. Meet some very nice cruiser on the boat and made some new friends. Embarkation and disembarkation was not bad. Parking was a little pricey. Will I sail on Carnival Dream again, You bet. Looking at booking another trip next year on the Dream. Read Less

I really enjoy enjoy cruising with Carnival. The staff, the ships, entertainment, variety of food and affordability make for a wonderful vacation experience. Unpack one time, see a variety of interesting ports, meet great people and and the dining, entertainment and service is all included. If you want to further enhance your cruise, there are are a lot of ways to spend additional money or just enjoy all there is for one price. The cruise director and entertainment staff were engaging and very talented. The main stage shows were absolutely fabulous! I highly recommend anyone to cruise just one time to see if this type of vacation is right for you. Many folks have become addicted to cruising. I am one of those individuals. Cruising as Santa Claus (NOT an employee, certainly adds to my own personal experience, but even so, you will have a great time. Wishing you fair winds and following seas... Read Less

This was a family cruise of 12 people. My mother and aunt, and 5 siblings and their spouses. Ages ranged from 90 - 38. This was a first cruise for half of us. We cruised out of New Orleans. Six of us arrived on the Friday before the cruise and the other six arrived the Saturday prior to the cruise. We all stayed at the Springfield Marriott and the location was nice and the rooms were nice and clean. It was easy walking distance to the French Quarter and on the day of the cruise, we had one vehicle which we used to drop off the luggage and the rest of the group walked to the terminal. Embarkation was smooth, the buffet was a madhouse with everyone there eating and waiting to get into their rooms, but that is expected. We all had balcony rooms on the 7th and 8th decks. They were fine, a bit older looking, but they were clean and we had plenty of space for our things. There was a wide variety of activities during the cruise. The entertainment was okay, but the "Flick" show was very good, the best of the cruise. Their were multiple comedy shows most nights. I saw a few of them and they were good. It was in the burgundy lounge, which filled up fast. Need a bigger venue for that, but not sure there is one available. Piano bar was full most nights, but I didn't enjoy it as much as on other cruises. There were plenty of other things to do during the day to keep you busy. I thought the food was good. The dining room food was for the most part very good. Guy's Burgers are great and the taco stand (don't remember the name) is good and has excellent breakfast burritos. The Pig and Anchor seemed good, but only had it once and after finding a place to eat, it was cold, so can't give it a fair review. The buffet was decent and their 24 hour pizza was great. Excursions: Cozumel we all went snorkeling, that was fun and then just laid on their beach. It was a park named Chankanaab, booked through carnival. Roatan (Mahogany Bay) we got our own taxi tour of the southern part of the island, cost $70 plus tip. That was well worth it. Grand Cayman, we all did the dolphin swim. The swim was great, everyone enjoyed it but the second half of the excursion (which was beach time at a resort) was not worth it. The excursion advertises time to swim, snorkel, ride wave riders, parasail, but in reality you don't have enough time to do anything at the resort other than sit on the beach and get your feet wet. Overall the cruise was great, everyone enjoyed themselves. It was a great time to spend with family and enjoy one another's company. The ship is full of things to do, the crew is fantastic, they work very, very hard to provide you a great experience and they do it. Read Less

1) because my brother and his wife have never cruised before. 2) the price 3) where it was going. 4) because my brother and his wife still like to party. Carnival seems more like a party type atmosphere. The staff was wonderful from our room steward Wayan to our dinner stall Dede, Ignatius, and Polett. to the staff in cloud-9. spent the day in New Orleans before embarkation. Embarkation went very smoothly ( great job) our cabin 7203 is classified interior, but has a window. It is interior with a picture(walkway view). It was our highest level yet. and a good choice. they do sell out fast. we enjoyed most of our dinning I was disappointed in the main buffet, but like the other 3 buffet or was it 4? guy burgers was very good, the pasta bella was not a buffet, but a sit down where you place an order and drop it off at the head of serving line and then go sit down and they deliver it piping hot as you ordered. a don't miss if you travel on the Dream. Main dinning room was very good. the chef's table was an outstanding experience. It di cost extra, but we thought it well worth it. the shows in the encore lounge were to mush like Vegas style and loud. we like more Broadway style performances. disembarkation went very smooth also. Had another wonderful time on the Carnival Dream. Upgraded to a balcony state room and it was well worth it. Very roomy cabin for 2 and a nice balcony. As always the staff on board treat everyone like Kings & Queens, anything you need they will try to please you. Food was always terrific and plenty of entertainment. Weather wasnt ideal as its winter time and rained a good bit. Two of our three excursions where canceled however Carnival did credit us back with no problems. Good weather in Cozumel and cold beer. Did the SeaTrek excursion and it was very fun and enjoyable. Its difficult to get away each year and I need internet so that I can still communicate via email with work. I upgraded to the premium internet and it really sucked. Could rarely get on line to send an email from my laptop. It was a very nice cruise but internet needs a lot of work, especially since I paid $125. for it. Read Less

We are 29 family and friends from Alaska, California & Colorado. We are all adults except for a 12 and 16 year old. Overall it was a great value. The first-timers were in awe! Carnival is a well-oiled machine. Everything went very smoothly. I only rated the food a 4 because of the Port of Call menu. It was subpar, all of the other food was wonderful and well-plated. The diverse entertainment was suitable for all ages. We especially enjoyed the acoustic guitar player. The Cruise Director was very entertaining. The staff was very warm and helpful. The ship was very clean and well-maintained. Embarkation was delayed. The photographers were not very good. They cut off people in photos and were poorly lit with shadows on faces. The cruise was very smooth until the last day when there was a lot of rocking and rolling. All in all a great time was had by all. Read Less

We chose to sail of New Orleans , for easy travel and activity's prior to cruise . Boarding the ship and check in was easy and efficient. Once on board we started to eat (and didn't stop for 7 days) The casual restaurants by the pool are amazing , Guy's burger is so good it should be outlawed and the Taco stand was incredible ( The only thing better than a Guys Burger is a fresh tortilla) On room was very comfortable and spacious . The bed and pillows we very worn out and need to be replaced. The dinning room food was a mix of exceptional and just so so unfortunately or waiter was a little overwhelmed and our service suffered slightly . ( I prefer more casual dinning anyway) The Ship itself comfortable and very easy to find our way around . Drinks were of course over priced (just like any other cruise) The entertainment at the comedy club was fantastic 2 different comedians every night and they switched them out 1/2 way through the cruise. If you like stand up this is the ship for you. There were a few small negatives on this trip but nothing I would dwell on , All and all a GREAT trip. Read Less
