We chose this cruise for The Southern Gospel Singing groups, Jeff and Sheri Easter, The Hoppers, The Whisenants, The Talley’s, Ivan Parker, Karen Peck and New River and more!!!!!!!!! The concerts were great and well organized. The preaching by Herb Reavis was outstanding!!!!!!! The food in The Inspiration Restaurant was very good, but it was a long wait to get our order. The food at the buffet wasn’t all that great. Unlimited ice cream was a very nice touch! There was a lot of walking and climbing on this ship. Several people fell on this cruise, partly from the rough ride! The first day, the entire day, was a very rough ride, several people got seasick and people were staggering from the rocking motion!!!! Our Stateroom Stewart, ALEXANDER, was superb!!!! He met all our expectations and more, very friendly and courteous! We really enjoyed his service and his personality!!! ALEXANDER is great!! Read Less

This was our 21 cruise, our 3 with Carnival and it will be our last. the Elation is an older ship but was recently refurbished. Our outside window cabin on Deck 6 was on the small size. Well maintained and clean except for the window, which was leaky and glass was very dirty on the outside. Cabin was made up once a day only. We had the anytime dinning which was not easy to get in, every night we tried a different time and still experienced long lines and upto a 30 minute wait to get a table. The food terrible, mostly made up of processed foods, all the meats were tough, and the breads which are normally very good were nothing special. The entertainment around the pool was the usual and very loud. We went to a few shows only, the comedian was great, and the singers in the show were good. Service was nothing special, not one standout person, with most just doing the basic to get by. We stopped at Nassau and Freeport, nice beaches and people. Every gift shop pretty well sold the same thing. Read Less

This was my husband and my first cruise. We left from Jacksonville on the Elation. While the ocean was a rough, it did not stop our fun. There was always something going on. The ship was beautiful! Amazing colors. The Carnival Hub app is amazing. The night before we would select our favorite events on the schedule for the next day and the app would send reminders. The crew was fantastic. Our room steward did an amazing job. We loved seeing what towel animal he left behind every evening. Guys Burger was so yummy!!! Our late dining waiters were attentive, fast, sweet, and overall just great! There was lots of different foods to try but I am not big on that. haha Absolutely loved the Love & Marriage Show, The Hasbro Game Show, the Comedy Shows (well most of them), and Epic Rock. Divas and Heart of Soul were good but I liked the others best. I enjoyed playing Bingo and spent some time in the Casino. We also tried our hand at some trivia. We had a Ocean View room and it was enough room for us. I do wish at ports they would rewash the windows. We did not do any shore excursions but did venture out in both Freeport and Nassau. At Freeport we just checked out the market at the port. At Nassau we ventured out. The free beach in Nassau was beautiful. The straw market was an experience in itself. We ate a Bahamian restaurant and it was terrible. Next time I will just head back to the ship to eat. Overall we had a great time and I can not wait to take another one. I would love to take our children on one as well!!! Read Less

Wanting to return to Half Moon Cay, we booked this cruise. We sailed on the Elation 2 years ago out of New Orleans to Cozumel, and the old girl was showing her age. Her recent drydock and redo did wonders. The updates have made a huge difference in her appearance and amenities. Embarkation in JAX was smooth and easy as usual. FTTF really comes in handy by the way. The hotel we stayed at informed us they had a shuttle which was half the price as Carnival's. We arrived at the port at 1030am, and we're on board by 1115am, after a very short wait to get the ship ready for the first group of people to board. I can't compliment the embarkation crew enough. Excellent folks. Dining was good. I've ordered the flatiron steaks on 3 different ships, and everytime it's like chewing a flip flop. It just must be the cut. I won't bother again. The prime rib on the last night out you could cut with a soup spoon, and cooked perfectly. Wasn't impressed with the burrito bar, but it might just be my preference for hard shell tacos, not soft. Noticed an increase in quality for Tiffany's as well. Breakfast has really been improved. Guy's Burger Bar, who can complain? Service in the MDR was exceptional as usual. The Comedy Club was hysterical as usual, and the show in the Mikado was nice. Divas was a tribute to, well, DIvas... I must say I was half expecting a drag show, but was surprised that it wasn't. Performers were awesome. Didn't go into Nassau. Half Moon Cay? C'mon, is there not a more perfect place on the planet? Really liked the new smoking area. It's been moved to deck 11 and away from the loudness of the Lido deck, but still close to the activities there. I really wish that Carnival would put a smoking area in part of the Serenity Deck. On that note... I am a polite smoker, and I found more than once you could smell cigarette smoke in the center staircase on all the decks. Not sure if it seeped down from the casino or what, but a non-smoker might find it bothersome. Again, the thing that makes Carnival what it is, is it's staff. Everyone works so hard to unsure a good vacation. The crew on the Elation is no different. From the embarkation folks, to the waiters in the MDR, the attendants in Tiffany's, the bartenders and cocktail waiters, even the cleaners on the Lido deck. Never a frown, always smiling and pleasant and eager to make your day. Carnival I hope, understands what an excellent group of employees they have. I've already booked two more cruises on the Elation. One in January '19 for my partner and I and one in February for him, my son, daughter in law and my grandkids. I love this itinerary and I truly love these Fantasy class ships. They're not as big as the newer ones, and might not have the bells and whistles, but it is much more conducive to just kicking back and meeting new people as well. Read Less

We chose this cruise because there were multiple cabins being booked and the price was great. We selected this specific cruise because of the stop in Half Moon Cay instead of Freeport. We were taking our parents ashes to be spread at sea and the crew did a wonderful job at working all of that out for us. There were 8 of us cruising. My husband and me, my sister and B-I-L, Daughter and S-I-L plus 2 grandchildren (ages 7 and 3). This was the 14th cruise for hubby and me, second cruise for daughter and S-I-L and first cruise for everyone else. We visited the Jacksonville Zoo the day before our departure. It was a nice stop and I would highly recommend it. We found BOGO coupons on Allstate Drivewise app, which made this a great deal. The upgrades to the ship are fantastic! I am not a buffet lover, but the food in the main dining room was always good as were the burgers at Guy's and the food at Blue Iguana. We had FTTF, so embarkation and debarkation were a breeze. It was our first cruise out of Jacksonville and we thought it was easy to get to and embarkation was simple. The children loved Waterworks as well as the Seuss breakfast and Build-a-Bear Workshop. They chose not to go to the kids club, but they did great. They played mini-golf and the 7 year-old also attempted to play ping pong, but it was too windy. They enjoyed spending a little time in the arcade. Our room steward - Izzy was absolutely fantastic! We had your time dining and never had to wait long for a table. The dining room staff was good, but did seem a bit rushed, especially if you didn't get there right when the dining room opened. We don't drink, so there's no opinion on the bar staff. In room E153 we did hear noise from the galley above us, like most of the night! I will be more careful in the future when booking to be sure we don't end up right under the galley in the future. It was a great cruise and enjoyed by all!! Read Less

My husband and I recently moved to Jacksonville and were looking for a quick get away. Since he had never been on a cruise before and Carnival had a port right in Jacksonville, we choose to travel on a 5 day cruise. We couldn't be happier with the events as follows: It was an easy process with embarkation. Since we already had our time to arrive window and our boarding passes, it was easy to board the ship. To top it off, our cabin was ready and we could drop off our carry on bags and explore. We were ready! The cabin was freshly cleaned and spotless with plenty of towels, small refrigerator, hair dryer, desk, and plenty of room for luggage. The only thing missing was seating. We choose not to be committed to specific dining times but were surprised with fine dining when all we could attend was Inspiration at 8:15 each night. Although once there, Jose attended to our dining needs with a smile and great sense of humor. Dawl greeted us each night and made a point to ask what we did for the day and frequented our table to chat. Agus treated us like royalty. I can't forget Naro, who always tried to get us to have dessert. Yes, we did frequent Tiffany's ( always greeted with a smile by Thin Zar) and several of the other establishments but felt boxed in when we wanted to attend an early 8:15 show. Since you can't eat and dine at the same time, we had to attend the 10:15 shows. Next time we will opt for early dining. We did try to go to Imagination at an earlier time and were denied. Entertainment, I mean Kevin our Cruise Director was fantastic. It would not have been as entertaining if Kevin wasn't there. He is upbeat, hilarious and fun to be around. He made the trip! Comedy shows were good, One entertainer was very graffic while the one on Friday night was superb. We couldn't stop laughing! Good clean comedy. Service was five star from beginning to end and we completely enjoyed Half Moon Cay's tropical setting and Nassau's history and shopping. Embarkation went smooth and was much faster than we thought. Opt for take your own bags and you're off the ship faster. Overall, we would cruise again with Kevin and the Carnival fleet. Read Less
